No matter how funny you think you are you will never be funnier than Jamil doing a whole fucking ballroom dance routine on accident and then falling over in despair while mentally saying “without thinking…MY DANCING SOUL!!”

If Kalim knew Jamil was hypnotizing him and hated him secretly, it does not make him stupid. It makes him hear Jamil make cruel comments under his breath and watch the light leave his eyes when he turns to face him. It means every time his middle schools friends asked who Kalim was, he heard him say nobody special. It means he has to panic knowing that if he doesn’t remember something it could mean he had been hypnotized. That every time Jamil compliments him or says anything kind, it’s laced with pain and resent. That every time he gently applies his makeup and ties his head scarf it’s done without love. It means that he has to go to sleep knowing the man he loves with all his soul would rather die than hold him sincerely. It means Kalim has chosen to believe in something so blatantly untrue to keep their relationship alive. He’d rather live with glass shards in his hand then have to deal with the emptiness of their absence.

Random Post about Jamikali’s magic
There’s something infinitely heartwarming and heartbreaking about Kalim learning magic because he saw Jamil use it. Jamil wants to be seen as his own person outside but Kalim wants so desperately for them to relate. Kalim deeply admires Jamil and wants him to be happy but everything he does just makes things worse. He imitated Jamil everyday to learn magic. He could’ve done a million things but instead tried to learn what Jamil was doing. He didn’t learn magic to be the best or to fulfill some sort of requirement…he did it because he loves Jamil and thought it was cool.
I wonder if Kalim was there when Jamil learned his unique magic was snake charmer. He canonically knew his power of course and even promised to not say anything but how did he know? It’s unlikely to me that Jamil would rush to Kalim when he learned his unique magic to show him. Was Kalim the first person he accidentally used it on? Was it scary? Did he know what was going on? Was he looking into Kalim’s eyes for them suddenly to go blank and glow red? Did he panic thinking something went terribly wrong and that he’d hurt him? Did he only find out he could use commands when he frantically yelled at Kalim to snap out of it and to say something?
Did Kalim find it scary? Did it shake him for the one person he trusted most to randomly use powerful magic on him without warning? I wonder if after it ended Jamil made Kalim promised to never tell anyone because he was afraid of what Kalim’s parents would do or think.
Was Kalim disappointed when he found out his own unique magic? Did Jamil sigh with relief when learning that his was less powerful than his own? That he was still better at Kalim with magic. If Kalim was disappointed I imagine it was brief after he learned the fun ways he could use his power. To make instant pools in the desert and dance in rain of his own creation. He probably eagerly came up with his own fun chant. I wonder if he ever used it when he was attacked and summoned huge storm clouds to surround him hoping the rain would wash everyone away.
I’m so normal about them-

If anyone is wondering if they too might have autism, ask yourself this:
Am I fan of Yugioh?
If the answer is yes put it on your symptom list

Jamil has definitely told Kalim to hold his hand sometimes so he “doesn’t get lost” but also if anyone else does it it’s “not appropriate for Kalim as an heir to be seen holding hands with random people” or some shit

Do you think, as a child, Kalim was ever kidnapped and saw the faces of the criminals but when learning they would be executed refused to identify who did it and played dumb? Do you think he’s ever looked into the eyes of a man who threaten to end his very being but simply said he’d never seen him before in his life? Do you think he’s been brutally hurt a relative but still sent a gift to them on their birthday?

Kalim isn’t faking being a happy person however he does show signs of heavily dismissing and pushing down his own feelings. He’s genuinely full of strong emotions but he doesn’t let the negative ones show. He probably is scared and afraid and upset and sad and angry and frustrated and destroyed but what’s the point of him complaining? It’s not like he’s going to complain to people who have “bigger” problems. He says that others being happy makes him happy and the probably goes the same for sadness. Kalim cheers up everyone but no one does that for him because they don’t think he needs to be cheered up.
Also yes ofc he treats things as less of a big deal than they are because could you imagine if he did? Could you imagine if he processed and carried the full weight of every betrayal, poisoning and kidnapping?
Remember Kalim lives like there’s no tomorrow because there might not be one for him

Do you think Kalim knows he had a terrible childhood? Do you lowkey think if you told him “it wasn’t your fault” that he would cry? Like I feel like there’s definitely a part of him that just really didn’t talk his issues out. I mean he thinks he has no troubles but also has had all his loved ones and strangers try to kill him since he was little. Like does he know he’s allowed to feel bad? Does he know that despite his wealthy upbringing he’s still allowed to feel upset about his life? Does he know that his childhood wasn’t a normal one?
Do you think he knows he’s allowed to hate people? He wishes to not die if poisoned in case the perpetrator changes their mind. He lives like there is no tomorrow but does he ever allow himself to be angry with life? Does he ever allow himself to feel pity for the circumstances he’s in? Does he know he didn’t deserve to have any of those attempts on his life happen? Does he ever let himself truly stay sad, stay angry, stay feeling any negative emotion?
Anyway uh teehee therapy is fun and he’s so silly hahaha

I think about Jamil blushing in his ceremonial robes groovy everyday because for a guy who “hates Kalim” and “thinks he’s naive and stupid” you sure do start blushing and twirling your hair the minute he compliments you. Like Kalim compliments Jamil all the time in other stories…is it because they are alone maybe? Is it because if Kalim is just complimenting him when they are alone it means there’s no way he’s doing it for show or whatever other excuse Jamil could imagine? Like Kalim had this man red in the face and pulling his hood down to the point it obscured his vision…flustered and confused. Leona was right he definitely has charisma.
Update: I went back to reread it and…”ah, why do you always…” always what Jamil? Why does he make you feel things? Why does he make you want to be his boyfriend? Who knows buddy

Do you think at some point Kalim cracks and just tells Jamil that everything he did, everything he said…did in fact hurt him?
One time after Jamil makes snide comment about Kalim being too happy and oblivious because he thinks his behavior doesn’t reflect that of a person who cares and understands the gravity of what he’s saying…Kalim finally just stops him. Kalim finally tells him that no of course it hurt and he’s upset with Jamil and he’s devastated and had his heart shattered fully by the betrayal but tells him that what would expressing any of that accomplish? What was he supposed to lash out at him? He just wants them both to be happy.
Kalim isn’t a total empty headed happy person. i personally think he knows behaving too aggressively or too sadly won’t help solve anything and will just make everyone and him feel worse.
Also it’s not that Kalim secretly wants to lash out angrily and snap but rather that he doesn’t want to and so expresses himself in such a manner.
Kalim truly and unconditionally cares about Jamil no matter how he shows it. I think deep down Jamil feels the same but they just express it so differently it gets lost in translation.

Yeah yeah Jamil resents Kalim but I wonder if at first or eventually he resents adults entirely for what happened to both of them. The first time Kalim was almost killed and was crying out in pain in his arms do you think Jamil screamed for the adults to help? Do you think for a bit any time both saw an adult that looked like the attacker they panicked internally? Do you think Jamil wanted to cuss out the adults for letting this happen to Kalim…to both them?
How dare anyone hurt the person closet to him? How dare the adults let this happen? How dare they let a 7 year old try to stop the bleeding out of another 7 year old? How dare they put the responsibility of life in the hands of children? How tragic it is for your protectors to ignore you and make you fend for yourself in a world you cannot survive alone…
IN THIS ESSAY I WILL-

It’s so funny to me that after Book 4 everyone was like “what’s ur relationship with Jamil?” And Kalim was like “it’s complicated…give us time to sort things out” like they were dating and going through a lovers quarrel. They are definitely students that think they are just bfs in a disagreement because they don’t know what happened over break. I mean if someone told me that the house warden and vice house warden are “working things out” I would assume they are getting magical couples counseling
