“Not all Mandalorians are bounty hunters. Some of us serve a higher purpose.” Finally finished my portrait of Bo-Katan Kryze! I’ve been so busy lately that I’ve only been able to work on this a little bit at a time. I started her after episode 2 and episode 5 drops this week. This stop and start is a very different work flow for me. Normally I get something in my head and either work on it obsessively until it’s done or walk away from it for a while before eventually digging my heels in to finish. It’s been tough, but I’m really happy with the result!
Will she rule Mandalore again? Will she walk The Way? I can’t wait to find out! So say we all…I mean, this is the way!

Last Lunesday of the Week
Listening: No organized listening today; was out and about so the jams did not begin playing at the appointed time.
Reading: Started reading Princess of Mandalore, which is a Tanya x Star Wars crossover that starts sometime after Episode I but before the Clone Wars really kicks off. Good plot; intermittent grammar, spotty character differentiation but I'm keeping on because the plot outweighs the grammar issues. Will Tanya get recruited by the Jedi, or the Duke of Serenno? Will she develop feelings for her new adjutant? Will she ever get to fight?
Writing: Started a flowchart of the Iliad with major plot points, using a children's illustrated edition.

Have a more-or-less final version of the cyberdeck palmtop computer case thingy. Revision 29 is mainly about screw hole tolerances for the backplate. Still working on getting a functioning OS. I've been running Phosh on my touchscreen laptop and it's ~fine. I put Ubuntu on this Pi today and then realized I have to set up display drivers for it in order to be able to enter SSH keys. Ugh. If I rebuild this formfactor from scratch, I'm not going to use the Hyperpixel line of square touchscreens; they look cool but they take up GPIO pins needed for other stuff instead of using HDMI plugs. Waveshare has a better package for the same formfactor.
Built the hacked Vindriktning off of the Adafruit tutorial; it does what it says on the box. Still need to calibrate it against the PurpleAir sensor I have, which costs ten times as much.
Need to start Version 2 of the Vakama mask, if I want to print it by Halloween.
Kinda want to make a frogpad-style keyboard with a spare KB2040 microcontroller, a la the Scottopad. But that is a "after Halloween" project.
Also I need to take apart my HTPC projector and put it back together correctly so it doesn't scream.
Aaand I need to put a construction helmet inside a pumpkin. I guess I'll do that offscreen during tomorrow's meetings.
Playing: Got Tears of the Kingdom side quests done except the stable paintings and the last of Misko's set. After that, it's wells and Bubbulfrogs, and I wish there were a way to mute just that one guy's cackles.
Injuries: +1 TDaP booster, +1 knife slip hole in my offhand palm, -$40 to get a new set of fairweather biking gloves after I lost one last weekend biking to get my COVID and flu shots.

Lights! Camera! Action! It’s Movie AU time!
Codywan Style
It only took a decade, but I’m finally doing a AU of a favorite movie of mine, John Carter (2012), with a favorite ship, Codywan!
I’ve been working on it for about a year now, trying to get the style of the book and the movie to mesh and make a whole new story out of it that fits Cody and Obi-Wan perfectly. After all that I thought it needed some pomp and circumstance before its release.
So enjoy this snippet of Obi-Wan trying to figure out how to move on Mars for the first time, just like the movie, but with a twist 😉
Trying to not dwell on it, he focuses on the present. Here and now he could move. He had some provisions and he still had daylight. So with determination, Obi-Wan pulls his hat off his pack, loosens the drawstrings, and sets it firmly on his head.
I guess my next journey is happening sooner than I thought. And goes to stand.
Or that was the plan.
For no conceivable reason, when he stood, Obi-Wan was pushed forward as if a gust of wind was under him, and for a brief moment, the air was like water, leaving him buoyant as he moves through it.
Then he was hitting the dry lakebed roughly, cracking it under his weight. He tries again, but with similar results. Even pushing himself up was a struggle as he would skitter across the dirt when he did so.
At one moment he just lays on the ground for a matter of minutes, ire his only companion at that point, his hat perched precariously over his face.
After the twelfth trial, he lays down on his stomach and wonders how this area was playing strange antics upon his physique as he had kicked a rock and it had flown away from him like a bullet.
Perhaps being lighter would help with him being heavier, considering the opposite seems to be true currently.
Taking off his pack was a mistake, the worst possible, as he had gained new heights and distance. So they were needed, he thought sourly as he crawled back to his two bags.
After the eighteenth attempt, Obi-Wan has a mental list of do’s and don'ts.
He gets his feet under him, exerting the strength of his pinky, so that he can crouch. Then ever gently, he stands straight and unmoved. From there his gaze picks up a desolate island in the distance, the sun shining through the parted rock formation like a beacon.
Hopefully a beacon with shade.
Lifting his right leg in exaggerated fashion, as if he was wading through water, and moving like he was creeping through the halls of the orphanage, Obi-Wan walks on his tiptoes. It must make him look like a jester, but he was making progress.
Negligible progress though.
It would be nightfall by the time Obi-Wan made it there and he needed to be able to make camp before then.
Ever the scientist, he decides to add a bit more pressure, press down just a touch harder, to move a half a pace faster.
Then he’s leaping.
In light bounds, like a frog, Obi-Wan finds himself covering distance with ease and landing from his bounces with miraculously no issues! The short bursts of weightlessness, wind soft against his face, and the wonder of it all possesses him like a small child’s near endless joy.
Hope you enjoyed and stick around for more 😉

Hi, I'm not the artist type, but I'm pretty proud of this.
My best friend recently gave me this bag and allowed me to "personalize" it (because I clearly don't share imperial thinking lol) and it ended up looking like this. The phrase on the bag says "Mishuk gotal'u meshuroke, pako kyore", which means "Pressure makes gems, ease makes decay." It's my favorite Mandalorian proverb.
Also, I added the Starbird as a symbol, because it's practically Sabine Wren's personal signature and she means a lot to me. Here you have what it originally looked like and how it turned out, I hope you like it 💜

Once Again, I Have Meaning
Chapter Eight; Ni mir’lo’runi
‘What’s going on?’ Behind, Leia’s voice has a familiar bite to it. ‘What’s happened?’ Obi-Wan shushes her, makes eye-contact with Satine. He too looks cautious, his hand resting awkwardly against his hip, as if ready to draw a blaster. As if ready to draw his saber, Satine thinks, casually. But oh… oh. She’s looking back up at his face with wide eyes when BoShek calls out to her. Satine turns quickly, hurries down the ramp to meet him. Almost like running away, an indiscernible feeling curdling her stomach. She feels weightless. She feels too heavy. The smuggler’ stood apart from the Ugnaught, but she still waits until she’s close before speaking. ‘Where are we?’

Catra Kryze [tcw au]
Role-play
Satine Kryze – lioness
Ursa Wren – me
“Catra… is worried her mother will love her less…” Satine said.
“Oh, poor little one. She doesn't know it all doesn't work like that,” Ursa sighed quietly. “It's certainly difficult for Bo. But I'm sure she loves her children the same. Did you tell Bo about wanting Jetii to be here?” She asked curiously.
“I… haven’t mentioned it to her yet,” she sighed, “only to Fenn.”
“You know you won't keep it a secret anyway, right?” Ursa lowered her head, guessing what her friend's reaction would be. “What does Catra have to say about all this? Have you talked to her yet?”
“She doesn’t want her mother to know I’m reaching out to the Jetii…” She sighed.
Ursa looked at her closely.
“Do you think it's possible to... keep it a secret from Bo?”
“No… and… I shouldn’t…” she looked downward.
Ursa nodded.
[…]
“And now their child has the Force,” Ursa said.
“I only pray Bo can accept it…”
“...what if she doesn't do it?” She asked almost in a whisper.
“Then I will take Catra under my wing,” she assured her.
“It's a good thing... that she still has you,” Ursa said softly.
“I am… forever blessed… you and I have found peace despite our differences,” she told the countess.

Lights! Camera! Action! It’s Movie AU time!
Codywan AU Pt. 2
Feeling that spark
A treat for the Valentine week 🥰💖
We all love the unused Codywan knife scene from Kenobi – an idea cut down in its prime – so as many before me, I too took a crack at it.
Enjoy another snippet from my fic now titled, A Ven’alor of Mars!
@fizzironi I hope you enjoy as well 😉
Walking into his rooms, Obi-Wan only has a chance to close the door before he finds his arm caught and pressed against his back, the dangerous sensation of cold steel pressed to his neck giving him pause.
“If you move, you are dead.” Is hissed into his right ear, and he believes the prince.
“May I ask what is causing this reaction? Considering we are the ones that rescued you and yours?” Taking a deep swallow, trying to judge the leeway he would have against his opponent.
“Rescue does not involve capture.” Is bitten out, explaining nothing of the prince’s actions.
“No, I believe you are correct.”
Then suddenly stepping back into his space, dropping his head to the left, Obi-Wan falls that way, twisting to flip the regent over his shoulder and grabbing his knife-welding arm as he goes.
As quick as lightning, he straddles the fervent prince, squeezing his knees at his hips and grabbing hold of his wrists, exercising only a minimum of his new-found strength to stop him. He twists Kote’s right slightly to disarm him, the cooking knife falling to the floor with a faint clatter, and only grabs his left after the prince gets in a good left hook. Grimacing through the blooming pain, Obi-Wan holds Kote’s right hand above his head and his left fast to his exposed tattooed torso.
Breathing heavily with a fearsome sneer, eyes a golden honey frenzy, the prince tries to break free to no avail. But understanding flashes over his gaze as Obi-Wan applies a touch more pressure to hold him down.
Kote falls back, head turning to the left as his eyes immediately shift down, defeat his body language. And in the short amount of time he knew the prince, Obi-Wan knew this did not suit him at all.
“You are correct in saying that rescue does not beget capture, except you are not captured. So what do you mean your highness?”
A glare cuts to him with barely concealed disdain, straining once again against his body, but making no headway.
“I mean, that I know the trappings of this, and I will not be idle. I can’t be idle,” Kote tells him harshly, “My people need me. And not to sound arrogant, but perhaps the planet.”
The prince’s ragged breath fills the space as Obi-Wan holds Kote’s sharp gaze and finds himself intrigued, if not rallied in someway, to the nameless cause the prince has. There was nothing more noble than protecting one’s friends and family, doubly so for a sense of protectiveness for one’s people.
Taking in the prince again, Obi-Wan is still taken aback by the strength and forceful grace of the young man now beneath him. How he called attention and held it. How it called Obi-Wan’s attentions in a way it shouldn’t, though he couldn’t deflect his gaze from the curling geometric black tattoos that moved with every flexing muscles —
“Well,” Drawls Siri, her voice carrying in the domed room, “I didn’t think you even thought of playfulness.” Tone full of lascivious humor.

Okay, so we all agree that Luke having to marry Mand’alor Din for political reasons is a quality au. What if Luke accidentally gets politically engaged to some other planetary leader instead?
Let’s say that perhaps his connection to Leia automatically made him a candidate for diplomatic marriage, especially after Leia and Han get married. Maybe it was a major clause in the funding for his Jedi school, but Luke didn’t really think they’d ever actually marry him off. For the sake of the au, let’s also disregard bits of TBOBF and Mando S3.
Luke’s been building his school on Ossus, Grogu is enjoying Jedi training, and there are a couple other students. And perhaps, Din actually becomes Mand’alor and retakes Mandalorian space. Maybe he visits the Jedi school pretty often to see his son and get away from politics.
Luke can really sympathize with having the weight of the universe and a glowing sword tossed at you with no warning. So maybe he and Din become friends after a while and maybe that friendship becomes something different. There start being blushes when someone gets pinned in a spar, falling asleep together on the couch after dinner, running around after the younglings constantly. Din visits as often as he can and has about made up his mind to just ask Luke if he would consider moving the Jedi school to Concordia so they’d at least be in the same star system most days, if not on the same planet.
That's when Luke gets an urgent holocall from Leia, informing him that he’s just been engaged to some bigwig princess as part of a treaty with a rich planet the New Republic has been courting. Luke is absolutely panicking to Din, going on about how the terms of the treaty basically forbid him from keeping his school. He’s looked at his funding agreement with the New Republic and he can’t get out of it without losing money unless he’s already married to someone.
And then Din thinks of the most beautiful solution to both of their problems. Everyone else thinks that they’re already a couple, as much as Din has denied it. Bo-Katan has been harassing him for months about spending so much time off-world to go see his little family. Mandalore could really use a trade agreement with the New Republic.
The next logical step is, of course, for Din to propose in the middle of Luke’s kitchen while his Jedi friend is struggling not to go into a dark spiral about losing his school funding. It's simple, really. They just have to get married right that moment, which would fix the school funding issue. Luke moves the school to the Mandalore system so Din can see him and the kids all the time without giving Bo-Katan a new gray streak. And Mandalore probably gets a trade agreement out of it. What’s not to like?
Luke is so stunned he accidentally pours the calming tea he was making directly onto the kitchen floor.

Episode 6 dropped and love is literally in the air... so let's dive in...
We start the episode with an interesting story of a Romeo and Juliette trope. Specifically, a Captain and a Calamari Prince fell in love and run away together, causing danger of war between their species by doing so.
Tumblr media
You may think it has nothing to do with either Din or Bo, but if you read my previous post you already know everything is intentional.
They could put here anything, absolutely anything. A pirate, bounty hunter, escaped prisoner... But they put two lovers who with their actions could bring harm to others. It's not truly a happy story, as the woman said before her love confession:
Tumblr media
You see, after rewatching previous seasons I noticed that The Mandoverse likes to foreshadow what will happen in one way or another. Mythosaur discovery was foreshadowed by The Armorer in The Book of Boba Fett, for example. So this story here could be a potential warning, or hint at what may happen to Bo and Din. A Princess with a fleet, and a man who isn't considered a true Mandalorian because of his origin (Axe's words). After this episode, I'm pretty sure that Din and Bo are already in love. However, they didn't take any on-screen action to solidify the things we see between the lines. I do believe their relationship will progress further, and...
They may reach the point where things get complicated just because of who they are. You see the lovers from this episode can foreshadow Bo's or Din's dilemma about what they should do for the greater good. They may fall apart if the cause of their interest won't align, or be on the way.
HOWEVER, it may also be used as a future contrast that despite these odds and differences, they would not give up on what they feel for each other. Which I think would go together with true Mandalorian nature. This season is all about what it means to be a true Mandalorian, which is not just a fight for power. It's about caring for one another, especially a family. Mandalorians are stronger together, after all.
More under the cut!
Tumblr media
Can we take a moment to talk about how Din IS JUST THERE?
We were making theories if he will go with Bo or not when the show... literally treats them as one already. Whenever she goes, he goes, and vice versa. Without empty promises, they just do it.
And they "moved" to Bo's ship!
To dig into it further, this episode they were constantly walking side by side, to the point of going thru the doors together too if the space allowed it. You can check out this post >here< with more scenes
Tumblr media
Glances.
As I mentioned in my previous posts, this form is a subtle tool for storytelling, yet it can hide a whole ton of meaning or can be truly innocent. This episode is full of glances, specifically put in interesting places and I will touch on those later.
Like this one is innocent, just saying "Where the hell we are?" without words.
Tumblr media
I mention in the title of this post that "love is in the air" and here's another indication of it, a bizarre one to be sure as ex imperialist and a democrat fell in love despite their differences.
But... Grogu may be the biggest giveaway here:
Tumblr media
We don't see Bo's or Din's reaction here at all, only the enthusiastic cooing of Grogu. I asked myself why? Because he matters too, as Din's son. Grogu could be excited about the couple and how happy they are together. He knows both Din and Bo struggle a lot, and they have dark, rather gloomy lives. What if his father was blessed with a love that would make him happy?
Tumblr media
In this episode, we also have the first instance of someone recognizing Bo as a Mandalorian Royalty, despite the fact, there's technically nothing to rule for her. No planet, no people.
Tumblr media
An indicator that for the outsiders she is still a rightful ruler, despite her own people not believing in her anymore.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Glances. She is not going to make this decision alone, looking for assurance in Din.
An then, at the mention of her ruling Mandalore again she responds with:
Tumblr media
Bo doesn't want to rule Mandalore anymore. A theme that goes on since the beginning of the season. But I think just this episode we got a glimpse of the true reason why those plans truly changed.
Tumblr media
We got a great sequence with Good Cop - Bad Cop trope. Bo and Din gave us some Detective AU right here, make it black and white and we get a whole Noir setup ready to launch...
But back to the topic. This was yet another example of how they complement each other. Bo's more soft and rational approach would lead to nowhere or would take way longer if not Din's aggressive and hostile take on the matter, and vice versa.
They aren't only a great team, they need each other.
Tumblr media
Glances.
Bo for the first time saw the darker side of Din. We knew he had one, but she's pretty taken aback by his hatred of droids. Nonetheless, it doesn't make her fearful of him.
Quite the opposite in fact
Tumblr media
as she becomes his voice of reason to hold his horses. She's not scared he would get back at her with this attitude at all.
They had a brief conversation about his hostility, and I'm glad they allowed Bo-Katan to remove her helmet because what Katee is doing with expressing her emotions is phenomenal.
Tumblr media
This innocent sentence awakens a lot if you know where to look. And if not I will just show you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Glances. After the droid, a machine that can outlast probably generations if maintained properly puts importance on human life, and how short it truly is Bo and Din look at each other, accompanied by a romantic melody.
Devil is in the details, as Bo took a deep breath before breaking contact with Din.
What does it mean? As per usual it can mean nothing, or it can mean a thing, and you know me already, I will talk about the thing. You never know when someone's words might hit you, and I think that droid hit Bo and Din pretty strongly. In this lifestyle, they both share, life is even more dangerous than the citizens of that planet. It's a constant battle for survival. Wars, monsters, your own kind... Everything can kill you if you are Mandalorian.
So they might think that there's no time to waste. An indicator that the actions may be taken soon. A way of saying "Life is short so we can as well live together".
The investigation is a success, DinBo detectives can be proud of themselves for solving the issue, and as they came back to the Duchess with the results, we are once again struck with something. The motives of a man responsible for malfunction have their core in his hatred for the ex-imperial husband of the Duchess. So Duchess Lizzo blesses us with this line:
Tumblr media
You see, both Din and Bo have past. And those who know TCW know that Bo's past is terrible. She made huge mistakes when she was younger, and she pays for them to this day.
Tumblr media
I don't have a gif here, but at this moment you can see how Bo is moved by the exchange of these words, and you can see it all over her face, as her gaze is running away somewhere else.
Tumblr media
Lizzo then recognizes the efforts, Bo and Din made, which put a smile on Bo's face. A rare sign, but it only gets better.
Tumblr media
You see, I think Bo-Katan is genuinely happy here because she did something good, and her efforts are recognized.
It's safe to say that back at Kalevala, she was severely depressed. Thinking of herself as a failure that caused the doom of her planet and everyone she loved. Everyone left her, no one cared for her, and she was all alone. Then Din needed her help, and from then she was on a streak of doing good. I'm pretty sure that if not for the helmet we would see her smiling similar way after rescuing Rengar. Here, she not only helped people but also secured an alliance with another planet, simply by doing good, with no corruption or violence needed.
Tumblr media
Look how proud she is when Grogu becomes a knight! @ladyzirkonia Already noticed in her post >here< that Bo is happier than ever. And It's absolutely true! We haven't seen her as happy ever before. Not when she was getting a new addition to her fleet back in Season 2, or not even when the Armorer announced she is the one to unite them all.
This leads us adress to the bantha in the room...
Tumblr media
Where something important happens.
Tumblr media
You see, there were many theories that what Bo's doing with Din is just a long play to challenge him when he least expects it, but this disproved it. And later it gets even more interesting.
Tumblr media
You see... Axe is accusing Bo of intentionally refusing to challenge Din. Which would mean her people demanded it from her at some point.
Her refusal could be what lead them to leave, claiming she's weak, not only as a leader but also as a warrior, probably thinking she's afraid of challenging him.
However, Bo's motive may be rooted somewhere else.
Tumblr media
Bo-Katan had no problem challenging Axe for her fleet, so why would she struggle so much to challenge Din? It was as necessary as getting the fleet back, so what was stopping her?
Tumblr media
But she really didn't have to kill him to claim the blade. We saw it as Din and Paz fought for the Darksaber, and Vizsla is still alive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(gifs by @itberice) Do you remember what I said about love in the air? Now, look back at the Captain and the Prince from the beginning, and Duchess Lizzo and her ex-imperial husband. Do you notice the similarity?
Bo-Katan stands up in front of so-called Mandalorians, that are ready to outcast someone like Din, just because his blood is not Mandalorian enough. Just like Lizzo stood up against Commissioner in defense of her ex-imperial partner.
Again @ladyzirkonia made a great post >here< saying what I'm gonna mention.
This is a great sign of what kind of leader Bo is going to be. She walks both ways, she took her time to understand Din's perspective, and because of everything that happened, he is the one who showed her The Way. The right one.
He let her understand what it means to be Mandalorian, and it's not the blood, but the heart and faith of a warrior.
Din Djarin, with all his adventures, made Bo-Katan the person she is now. And she is really fond of him, to the point of standing in his defense, even if before she was among the people who laughed at him.
Tumblr media
I know everyone has mixed feelings about the Darksaber, and I fully myself don't sit right with it either, BUT it happened, and I'm here to make surgery on the symbolism here.
I know a lot of people think if Din gave the Darksaber like that, make it look pointless...
But I beg to differ.
You see, the Darksaber for Din and Bo actually lost its value. For him, it was a burden, and for Bo-Katan a symbol of everything she lost. But for everyone else? It still was a symbol of power.
I may sound here like I'm trying to defend the outcome, but I rather like to think I'm just taking a different perspective on it.
Hear me out, the point of Din getting the Darksaber maybe never was to show him as a potential leader, but rather put him on his path with someone who will make his life... better.
The Darksaber is something that put Din and Bo-Katan on the same way. A catalyst for everything we saw this season. Nothing of it wouldn't happened if Din didn't have the Darksaber. Just think about it, if in season 2 Bo got the Darksaber from Gideon, she would have her fleet, and wouldn't rot in her sadness on Kalevala, so there would be no one to save Din on his way to redeem himself. Giving this one sample to just show how big of a butterfly effect we are dealing here with.
So as much as I don't like the way the Darksaber was claimed, I truly don't think it makes everything pointless. For me, quite the opposite really. It's the reason why everything we see is happening.

Look if you don’t want me to come out of that finale shipping the Mandalorian princess with the priestess then you shouldn’t have given me so much good fucking ammo. In this episode alone you gave me “lady kryze” and them flying into battle together and setting fire to shit together and standing in front of a big crowd looking like co leaders while a crowd shouts “for Mandalore” are you insane of course I’m going to ship them
