Specific Biblical Passages That Support Being A Prepper
Isaiah 41:10-13
Isaiah 51:12-13 The passage from Isaiah 51:12-13 says, "Therefore I will divide him a portion with the great, and he will divide the spoil with the strong; because he poured out his soul to death, and was numbered with the transgressors; and he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."
This passage speaks to how God will reward those who are prepared for disasters. Those who are willing to sacrifice their lives for others will be rewarded. Those who are willing to bear the sins of others will be rewarded as well. This shows that being prepared for disasters is not only important for oneself, but it is also important for others around us.
Daniel 12:1-3
The book of Daniel is a very interesting and prophetic book. One of the main themes that runs through it is the idea of being prepared for disasters.
One of the most famous references from Daniel is when the king is told that there will be a time of great trouble. The king is advised to build himself a strong fortress and to prepare for the coming disaster.
The king was surprised when the disaster actually came, but he was prepared and he survived. This story illustrates the importance of being prepared for disasters.

Jeremiah 29:11-13
Jeremiah is a book of the Bible that contains prophecies about the future. One of the prophecies in this book concerns disasters that will befall the people of Israel.
One of the most important things that you can do to prepare for a disaster is to have enough food and water. This is because disasters can cause major disruptions to the food and water supply.
Jeremiah also warns people about being ready for natural disasters, such as storms and earthquakes. He says that God will bring these disasters upon the people if they do not obey his commands.
So, even if you don't think a disaster is going to happen, it is still important to be prepared for it. By studying Jeremiah, you can learn how to be safe during any type of disaster.

The problem is these prepper folks don't want communes, with resource sharing and democratic decision making. They want independent fiefdoms where they can be absolute dictators over their immediate families.

When you're tired, stressed, burned out, depressed, or just busy, figuring out how to feed yourself multiple times a day can take more energy than you have to give. Here's a resource I've been leaning on lately so that feeding myself is easier. I've never been a meal prepper because I don't like eating leftovers over and over, and taping a written list of snack ideas to the pantry hasn't worked for me in the past. When I tried a visual method by saving a folder of photos on my phone, something clicked. I'm a visual person---of course I would benefit from seeing a personal menu of food in my own kitchen! (I haven't tried it, but I imagine a visual menu would work for kids too.) Right now, my menu has a lot of appetizer-type finger foods on it because that's what sounds good and doesn't take long to make or reheat. Maybe I'll change my menu out seasonally like a restaurant... Anyway, I hope this sparks an idea for you if deciding what food to make is a struggle. If not this method exactly, experiment and see what makes the task easier for you! I'm all for saving energy on daily, routine tasks so that I can spend it where it's really important.

i saw your post about one of your 'prepper' skills being stuffed animal making. do you have any more like this? i try really hard to be disaster prepared without falling into Prepper Dude mindset (and i was raised by one, so its especially hard) and its so hard to find resources outside of that sphere of the internet
I find it helpful not to try to imagine some vast possible apocalypse but to start with the smaller disasters that are more likely to precede it: what could I do during a flood? an earthquake? a killer heatwave with vast forest fires? a war? Forget zombie movies and look at what happens during actual disasters.
In these situations, rescue and shelter of large groups of displaced people will be our first priorities. Some of the skills we will definitely need within the first weeks and months are:
All medical skills as well as medicine production skills.
Plumbing and water filtration
The engineering skills to get life saving devices (medical devices, communication, air filtration, etc) up and running and to hook up generators, solar panels, heat pumps, etc.
Child care skills and toy production
Psychological care and community skills, particularly trauma prevention, conflict resolution and recreation.
Food preservation like canning, curing, drying, storing. Since getting actual food production going will take months and is season dependent, our first priority will be to make everything that isn't shelf stable into shelf stable goods.
I am just one person and I'm probably overlooking a lot of things. Luckily I will not have to do this alone and it is fine if I can only do parts of a one or two things on this list.
(The things I can do on this list are sewing stuffed animals, first aid, food preservation and trauma prevention work)

Not a single Life Series goes by where I don’t think about how different it would be if the players weren’t making content out of it. Because here’s the thing, most of them would be so simple! With Limited Life especially, it’s literally a waiting game. Less life is gained by killing than what’s lost by dying, so all you have to do to be the longest lived player is bunker up in some hidden corner and make yourself as unobtrusive as possible while everyone else kills each other off. You could spend the whole time gathering resources, get a full enchanted suit of diamond armour and tools in case anyone does figure out where you are and come after you, and just - apocalypse prepper rules. Wait everyone out. Low risk, high reward.
And also, coincidentally, the most miserable and boring stretch of footage to watch. The creators want interactions, and interaction is risk incarnate in a game like this. But risk is entertainment. On a meta level, it’s just as much of a win/win as the bunker strat is, not in terms of the game but in terms of the satisfaction and story you get out of making your death the spectacle that your victory couldn’t be. It makes sense to me, definitely, but it does also make me wonder how many people would still bother with alliances and confrontations if none of this was being recorded.

Basic Survival Skills - What Are The Essentials?
When a disaster strikes, the most important thing you can do is to survive.
This includes learning basic survival skills - such as fire, shelter, signaling, food and water storage, and first aid - in case you need to survive for an extended period of time on your own.
Not only will this prepare you for whatever might come your way, but it will also give you the confidence to face any challenge head-on. So if a disaster does strike, make sure that you're well-prepared with the help of these essential skills.

the root chakra and whether i believe you could survive an apocalypse
the root chakra is telling of our survival instincts and what we need to survive.
Tumblr media
1 (the magician): absolutely these people are super resourceful and can definitely figure out how to survive in a post-apocalyptic world.
media representation: mike lowe on alone s2
2 (the high priestess): you saw the end coming but likely want nothing to do with long term living in a world without life and only death. you probably are a prepper though.
3 (the empress): it's pretty unlikely you will live - you are too reliant on others providing for you and likely would miss the convince of the modern world.
4 (the emperor): 100% is going to live - this person saw it coming and was preparing for a long time (mentally, physically, etc). they don't have interest in a commune either or rather they would never be dependent on others to survive - they would probably become a leader in an apocalypse.
media representation: any lead character in a post-apocalyptic movie / tv show
5 (the hierophant): dooms-dayer - 100% percent would pray on those who are scared and convince them that you have minimal ways to survive most of which will involve aiding them. they are the type to dictate to others what they need to be done but won't get their own hands dirty. they have zero issues turning religion into a way of life and claiming that current passages were warning them all along - they definitely would result to implementing scare tactics.
media representation: david in the last of us
6 (the lovers): reliant on others for survival. they aren't likely to last long in that regard but also they are likely prone to depression and would become existentialistic.
7 (the charioteer): their survival depends on whether or not they have survival gear - if they don't have a good baseline, they are likely going to be the first to go. they do make good nomads though so long as they do not depend on motorways too early into the apocalypse.
8 (strength): they start out strong then end up giving up. they can be prone to getting hurt too so it is likely they will succumb to infection - perhaps consider shaping up your first aid and herbal knowledge base.
9 (the hermit): the hermit himself was a man of the wilderness - he disappeared on his own and survived on his own. these people are likely to do the same. very little will impend them they just have to be of the mindset they can do it.
media representation: the tv show alone
10 (wheel of fortune): this is the person who just survives based off of dumb luck sometimes these people have really really bad luck though.
11 (justice): this is a practical individual - who knows how to use their resources. unfortunately, they are rather high maintenance so they might be unhappy in a post-apocalyptic world.
media representation: american horror stories: apocalypse (s8)
12 (the hanged man): nope 100% wouldn't make it - probably would be the one to want to loot and take from stores then get hurt in the process because they aren't aggressive enough.
13 (death): they bounce back all the time, so i wouldn't be surprised if they just keep coming back from almost dying.
media representation: joel in the last of us
14 (temperance): they would be great at moderation/rationing their supplies, but they can experience exposure to the elements that nearly kills them if not kills them.
15 (the devil): nope, they are too dependent on the modern world and likely couldn't adjust to new horrors of an apocalyptic world.
16 (the tower): i mean they are preppers and i can see them being capable and durable, but they are accident prone and can have a horrible death if not careful.
17 (the star): absolutely not - these people are quick to give up and feel hopeless in a post-apocalyptic world. they are also prone to being overly exposed to the elements.
18 (the moon): i feel like they could survive but the question is whether or not they could bear being alone with themselves... being alone makes you face all the shadows of the self. i don't feel that they would do well in a group dynamic as they would clash with the different personalities.
19 (the sun): oop these people dip so hard. they don't care what it takes to survive they simply will.
20 (judgment): simply yes. they are very capable of remaking a life in a world they no longer recognize.
21 (the world): definitely. this is a bad ass placement - they come out on top every single time. they are often the last man standing in a survival situation.
22 (the fool): they lack awareness and it tends to be their downfall. also they take too many risks and in a survival situation, you can't simply "wing it".

Exploration of the now-offline Far Cry 5 official websites
Part 3: Game Info 2 (America)
Recovered content
On July 13th, 2017, this is what the Overview, on the Game Info page of the American website, said:
Tumblr media
OVERVIEW Welcome to Hope County, Montana, land of the free and the brave, but also home to a fanatical doomsday cult known as The Project at Eden’s Gate that is threatening the community's freedom. Stand up to the cult’s leader, Joseph Seed and the Heralds, and spark the fires of resistance that will liberate the besieged community. In this expansive world, your limits and creativity will be tested against the biggest and most ruthless baddest enemy Far Cry has ever seen. It’ll be wild and it’ll get weird, but as long as you keep your wits about you, the residents of Hope County can rest assured knowing you’re their beacon of hope. Join the Resistance on February 27, 2018, with Far Cry 5. Available on PlayStation 4 system, Xbox One, and PC.
Then, it was moved to the Game Features page and only said this:
Tumblr media
OVERVIEW Far Cry 5 is a massive open world that’s filled with something new around every bend. The enemy AI behavior is more realistic and the exploration is almost endless. Even when you feel like taking a break from the campaign, you can take in some leisurely fishing before diving back into your quest. It’s your mission. With it comes the freedom to take on a world that hits back by any means necessary. Join the Resistance now with Far Cry 5. Available on PlayStation 4 system, Xbox One, and PC.
On this Game Features page, which was only archived three times on the Wayback Machine (and remained unchanged at least from May 18th, 2019, to February 7th, 2020), there was also information about Hope County’s three main regions:
Tumblr media
REGIONS WHERE ONE MISSION ENDS, ANOTHER BEGINS Three diverse regions and three really bad Heralds stand between you and The Father. How you conquer them is up to you.
Tumblr media
HOLLAND VALLEY - John Seed's Region Named for the Dutch immigrants who originally settled here, Holland Valley feels like a postcard from the West. It is home to farms, grazing animals, and a small community named Fall’s End. Because of all the goods that are grown and transformed here, this is also where the cult is planning to reap whatever they need before The Collapse.
Tumblr media
HENBANE RIVER - Faith Seed's Region Henbane River was once a place where people came to heal. Its landscape was dotted with cottages, hot springs, and the flowers that give the region its name. Over time the hot springs business fizzled out and the Project at Eden’s Gate moved in. This area is the cult’s heart in Hope County and a place of field labor and worship. Its economy revolves around converting souls into a docile workforce through use of drugs.
Tumblr media
WHITETAIL MOUNTAINS - Jacob Seed's Region Whitetail Mountains are a true wilderness where nature’s raw power is on display. Teeming with wildlife, this is a place to hide secrets—from both society and the law. It’s here that the cult is building an army to protect their followers from the Collapse. While Eden’s Gate controls this region, those who reject the cult can also find safe haven here. Preppers and survivalists have encamped themselves in these hidden mountains as they await the right moment to strike.
You could find the Activities as well:
Tumblr media
HUNTING Aim a bit off? Practice your marksmanship on some of the wild animals that are roaming throughout the different regions in Hope County. But beware, the animals fight back. FISHING Need a breather from ousting a doomsday cult and their maniacal leader? Take a break and cast a line in any of Hope County's scenic lakes and rivers. WINGSUIT Do you believe you can fly? Nothing says freedom like soaring high above Hope County like a bald eagle. CRAFTING While you make your way through the diverse landscapes of Hope County, Montana, you will encounter all manner of animals and natural resources. Use them to your advantage, when crafting your upgrades.
There was also an introduction to the For Hire system, and notably this:
Tumblr media
GUNS FOR HIRE Not only do you have unique skills to bring to the table, so do your Guns For Hire. You can meet and recruit them in the open world, although they may need some help sorting out their own problems before lending you a hand. If you like to travel in numbers, you can recruit up to two for hire at a time, which should help increase your chances of survival.
Tumblr media
FANGS FOR HIRE It's not only the human residents of Hope County who are prepared to fight back. As a part of the Guns for Hire system, Fangs for Hire are animal companions for the player. Each is unique, and can enhance whatever playstyle you choose.
“Read More” took you to the News section, to an article titled “Meet Far Cry 5's Characters” (more details in future posts), and another one that was apparently not archived, sadly...
Commentary
The changes in the Overview are interesting to me because they initially called Eden’s Gate “the biggest and most ruthless baddest enemy Far Cry has ever seen”... and then didn’t.
I like that we learn more about the three regions, especially details such as Holland Valley getting its name from the Dutch immigrants who used to live there or the Henbane River being a reference to the flowers that grow in the region. That said, the Bliss flowers we see in Far Cry 5 seem to be inspired by Datura, not Henbane, so I don’t know if this is a mistake or if the developers had other real-life flowers in mind when they came up with the concept of Bliss. Henbane flowers contain the same psychoactive substance as the drug used by the cult: scopolamine (although its hallucinogenic properties were greatly exaggerated in the game).
The site also says we could craft upgrades using “animals and natural resources”, but while plants can indeed be used to make “homeopathics”, crafting upgrades with animal skins, for example, wasn’t a mechanic in Far Cry 5 anymore.
Under the cut are all the available source files, saved directly from the website, of the images you see in the screenshots:

Next to the flag above, on the right, is the (barely visible here) “intaglio” pattern, used in the background of most pages on the site.

the amount of people who have like genuine apocalypse plans that involve them immediately fleeing their homes and going to another location is baffling
like not gonna get into the psychology of having a plan in the first place, because while I do think its good to be prepared for shit, prepper types are pretty much always some kind of deranged
but REGARDLESS OF THAT if the apocalypse happened, WHY would fleeing be your immediate answer. like discounting the scenerio happening specifically in your area and having to flee a natural disaster or something (I live in hurricane country so I know that sometimes you just have to take what you can and go), why would you go to a secondary location? Why would you leave an area you are both familiar with and known in to go somewhere that is strange to you and you will rightfully be seen as someone intruding? what is the benefit? resources? if you're worried about that, you should already have that at home. why would you risk being on the road in a potentially crowded and hostile landscape to go after resources that 100 other guys probably will get to first, rather than just staying in the place you're familiar with and hunkering down?
but like its so clear that all of the people who have these "plans" are really just having fantasies about leaving their homes and going off with their 400 guns and being able to fight people, and its why I don't really take preppers or the bug out type people seriously.

Deep In Those Woods.
Keegan P. Russ x Fem!Reader
Chapter 1 - Chapter 2 - Chapter 3
AO3
You find a strange man in the woods, no doubt running from the federation. He seems, well, in simple terms beat to shit. May your act of kindness not go unpunished.
...
Alr guys, I've tried my hand at writing x reader but it goes so much goddamn faster writing for vague characters versus 'yourself'. BUT IMA TRY IT AGAIN BITCH!
Tumblr media
It wasn't no man's land, but it had seemed no man dared to step into these treacherous lands.
Of course, until they did.
The thick woods, large mountains, and the pure water of the creeks that ran through the lands were seemingly forgotten.
Of course, it was, all until it wasn't.
It started with limited activity, maybe a helicopter, maybe the sound of a plane buzzing past too high in the sky to really know who or what it exactly was.
That's around the time he went missing, your brother that is.
The presence of Federation soldiers was small but large enough to know that this wasn't a simple injury in the woods- a broken ankle, anything of the sort would've been called through the radio.
You'd trusted him enough, trusted his skills to not fall victim to a bear attack. You'd both been raised out here- knew how it worked. It would take more than the maternal rage of a bear protecting her cubs to take either of you down.
Your father was what you'd consider a prepper. Long paranoid and embodied with the 'True American Passion', which was then instilled into you both from a young age. The property was bought long ago and turned into an off-the-grid homestead far away from the nearest town. When the evacuations had begun the two of you had waited before looting.
It seemed wrong at first.
But it was for the best.
The broken windows of the old shopfronts a days travel one way you'd gazed through as a little girl. Ripping open the doors to cars to pump the diesel from their tanks. The cases of fuel stabilizers were put to good use after managing to hotwire an old truck.
There was resistance, but if your father had taught you anything it was to stay far, far away from organizations like that. The kind that would preach equality, to give to the poor and help the weak but would strip you of your resources if they only knew how well you were stocked.
It wasn't selfish, no.
This was survival.
But that was a long time ago.
Dad died of a heart attack a few years ago. He was buried under that apple tree he'd snap a branch from to beat either of you two if God forbid you stepped out of line.
Seemed like a fitting place.
Better than feeding him to the pigs.
Civilization had started to heal itself, the local farmers proving their worth after the large highway's bridges were blown up. She'd remember vaguely hearing it was the ranchers, banding together to protect their lands.
Either way, whoever had done it had done a good job. The landscape protected those who called it home, those who respected the danger of its beauty.
And the days would blend together- the crippling feeling of loneliness, the suffocating sound of silence filling the cabin. You prayed your brother was alright- you could feel, deep down, that he was, he had to be alright. But you couldn't go look for him-
You weren't naive.
You know what they'd do to you if they captured you.
Your knowledge wasn't useful to them, no something much more horrifying.
Your body.
The soft clucks of chickens could only do so much to fill the void- the carnal need for social interaction. Even the arguments over the smallest things with your brother scratched the necessary itch, but once all of the chores had been done, everything dusted, organized, canned, prepped, dinner made, herbs dried, pillows fluffed, clothes mended.
You'd sit in silence.
Waiting.
...
Keegan was tired.
Exhausted.
Running on the fumes of fumes.
And God, did everything hurt.
He'd been hurt worse before- he thinks. But he knew it was starting to get bad, really, really bad when he could no longer feel the piercing pain in his chest, the throb of his ribs, the searing pain in his thigh.
His attackers hadn't survived- he knew that much. But his radio had fallen victim, and as much as he hated to admit it, he was close to being a casualty as well.
But he was stubborn.
The kind of stubborn bred into his genes.
He kept moving, stumbling through the forest bouncing from one tree to the next, tripping over himself and sending himself tumbling over a ledge and into a creek.
The water was cold-
He could feel the water slowly trickling over his cheek, soaking into his clothes as the soothing song of the water meandered past lulled his sight into darkness.
...
You suppose you could fill part of today's void with laundry, maybe even dipping your feet into the creek would bring some kind of temporary relief. The song of the creek shooing away the silence while you'd crouch in its safety.
Pulling the basket down, making your way out and through the pathways feeling the morning sun kiss the back of your neck as you marched seemingly on autopilot through the trail and onward.
The songbirds in the morning, the light hazy sound that the bugs would make as they hid in their crevices.
The sound of your footsteps soft against the fallen leaves and moss, the occasional squelch of mud.
Making your way to the creek, finding the large rock you'd sit on, and waiting to procrastinate the inevitable chore you'd find yourself mindlessly toiling at until sunset.
But there was a boot.
Why was there a boot in the water?
Your eyes narrowed at it, fell to its side sunken, and caught against stones with its added water weight.
Fear crept up the back of your neck as the implications of another person nearby becoming much, much more material. It wasn't something that could simply drift along the creek-
someone was here.
And there was no way to know if they were friendly- if there even was such a thing as friendly anymore.
Hesitantly, pushing your hands onto the cold stone and stepping into the creek, leaning forward to peer up the stream for your eyes to land on what was seemingly a corpse-
missing a boot.
A rifle strewn to his side, a mask, a helmet- a thick vest with a seemingly endless number of things tacked and strapped onto it.
This was a soldier.
You stepped forward, against better judgment to further investigate, eyes falling on the deathly pale skin. Hand reaching hesitantly up to grip the hem of the mask, some kind of skull-like distortion painted into the worn fabric.
Their black grease paint smeared and mixed with blood, eyes shut-
Which is why you felt like you'd jumped out of your skin when his eyes opened in a flash- the moment you'd tugged the mask upward. A large hand splashing through the shallow water and gripping onto your wrist, grip deathly strong as you shrunk back trying to pull your wrist away.
"Ssm.. Away." He shouted, voice slurred and eyes staring off into nothing as if his cold and tense body was acting on nothing but instinct.
English?
Was he-
He just spoke English.
He was American-
His grip became weak, his hand falling to his side as his head lolled as he lost consciousness again. Your body sparks like a live wire as you lunged forward, hands gripping onto his vest and calling out to him, trying to have him open his eyes again to speak, to clarify a thousand questions racing through your mind at that moment.
Your head lifted, frantically searching your surroundings trying to see if anyone had been with him. Letting out a frustrated puff and standing, trying to grip onto a strap on his vest and dragging the accumulated sopping wet dead weight of the large, unconscious man onto the moist dirt shoreline of the small creek.
Struggling- thoroughly before getting his upper body onto the dirt looking around as if questioning your own sanity.
Was this a good idea?
How could it be a good, idea- this was a red-flag paradise.
But, he was American.
That didn't mean he had good intentions.
But he is a soldier-
You think.
You think he is a soldier.
Why would a soldier be all the way out here?
Mercenary maybe?
A theif?
Your eyes narrowed on the thin line of blood tricking through he exposed flesh of his mask, over his eye.
You exhaled, closing your eyes and bunching your hands at your side while you started running back for home.
Throwing a pot of water onto the wood stove to start boiling, scattering out a bag and gripping the handles of the wheelbarrow full of firewood, dumping its contents out onto the soft earth before yanking it back and charging forward on the path to the creek.
Loading the man's body into the wheelbarrow was easier said than done.
You weren't proud to say it, but you did drop him.
More than once.
A few times, actually. Finally opting to throw his upper body in first, lifting his legs with all the energy you could muster and finally tucking his arms in as if you hadn't just dropped him like a sack of shit seven times prior.
Pushing him towards your home.
Simply pushing the wheelbarrow into the open space of your living room, pushing the couch as far back against the wall, and dumping his body out onto the wooden plank flooring near the stove.
Shucking the vest, the gear, unstrapping the gun, and putting it far, far away. The knives kept coming, tucked into random spots, hidden and clipped and strapped under every layer.
The mask was finally removed from his face.
The pants went too.
You'd forgotten his other boot in the water- you'd have to get it later.
It was like finding a stray dog- a dirty, bloody, unconscious dog.
But it was a large, shirtless, stinky man on the floor of your cabin.
You'd leave those thoughts for later.
You tended to his wounds, cleaning the blood from his skin, disinfecting and pulling the gunk from his cuts, carefully stitching the long gash on his thigh back together.
Setting a pillow under his head as his breathing began to even out, the heat of the fire warming his skin and bringing color back to it.
The many scars that rippled across his flesh.
You sat back, exhausted, staring at the rise and fall of his bruised chest. Listening to the sound of his breathing, albeit faint.
But all you could think about wasn't the fear gripping onto your ankles like a vice.
It wasn't silent anymore.
