The unfortunate legacy of The Force Awakens and the Star Wars sequels
The fact that The Force Awakens made so much money in 2015 has been a lead weight around Hollywood's neck for the better part of a decade now.
We're *STILL* seeing decades-late sequels that imitate the Star Wars sequels' WORST elements.
Specifically:
Make sure your classic character(s) has/have been totally miserable and/or failures since they were last seen. Yes, even though it’s been at LEAST a decade, they should’ve been suffering the whole fucking time.
Erase at least one character's growth (or sometimes even their base character traits) entirely, resetting them back where they started in their first film (or, alternatively, rendering them unrecognizable).
Kill off some of those legacy characters ASAP to ensure they have no hope of ever achieving the happy ending you once promised/implied.
Work in obvious repeats of prior movies’ events and scenes so the audience can be like “Oooh, I remember when they said/did that in the other movies,” resulting in them feeling like they’re in on something and are therefore validated.
In fact... maybe just copy/paste the entire plot from an earlier entry? No surprises means MAXIMUM NOSTALGIA.
These things were all present in The Force Awakens and even repeated for The Last Jedi. But they wound up just being pioneers of a shitty trend.
Some examples:
Terminator: Dark Fate
Ghostbusters Afterlife
The Matrix Resurrections
Scream (2022)
Clerks III
The degree of the severity of these things varies, at least. Maybe not every single legacy character has been completely miserable since we last saw them; it might be only some or even just one of them. I’ll also grant Ghostbusters Afterlife that killing off Egon was the only reasonable choice available to them. Situations like these can help soften the blow... and for those reasons, I don’t hate ALL of the movies I just listed. There’s even one or two I kinda like!
But make no mistake: All of the above lessons/tropes are still shitty ones. The legacy of the Star Wars sequels (TFA most specifically) is still a damning one. I honestly believe that ALL the movies I cited would all be better off if they hadn’t taken ANY cues from TFA’s template.

web of wyrd: how to identify fame/popularity
the top left corner of the wyrd web can tell you about some of your talents/interests, the core tells you who you truly are, and the flow/career is like the midheaven of the wyrd web realm. that being said, these are basic premises; in no way does one number mean a single thing. each number can mean different and multiple things. these are simply my observations (also observations are not destined to be true; they are simply possibilities / increased odds). if you want to learn more about the major arcana, which is the basis for the web's numbers, click here!

the matrix has soooo much in common with naruto actually. lol. was watching matrix reloaded today and there is a scene in there where someone tells neo that "u do not truly know someone until u fight them" ... hmmm. wonder who else might say smth like that .. but also. there is the obvious infinite tsukuyomi matrix parallel but Moreover. there is also this constant theme of like fate vs. choice, destiny vs. free will and like, neo, he questions whether he even has any choice if everything is predestined anyway and the oracle replies smth like "u have already made ur choice. now its ur turn to understand why u made it" like .. it seems very "character is fate" to me. like the choices he'll make, they are predestined, he cannot escape them, theyre fated for him but bc he is HIM .. bc he is who he is, he will make them regardless. this is exactly like madara's narrative? LOL. and naruto's as well. madara, contrary to neo, isnt actually the messiah or "the one" or whatever but he Also has a predestined fate path ahead of him. a path that he cannot escape .. what he wants, also, is control over his fate. his whole journey is abt struggling to be able to decide for himself, all he wants is control ... neo doesnt want to be powerless. he wants to decide for himself. yet, his path is predestined. and madara's path is as well but they still both make their own choices, they are NOT so much controlled by a higher power that decides for them but by who they are as a person. madara. he cant make any other choices. if it had been someone other than him back in konoha during his conflict with hashirama, that person might have been able to go abt solving this differently and the result would not have been what it was but bc this is MADARA. he cant. he is governed and almost imprisoned in some way by his own nature ... which is also what makes this a tragedy, Neo's journey is not a tragedy bc he IS the one and he doesnt want to become god. all he wants is to save trinity ... but the point is, their personalities, who they ARE, as characters, both madara and neo (and also naruto), predetermines their fate and that fate is either salvation ... or destruction. naruto, he also follows a predestined journey that has been picked for him by fate, i would argue that solving the indra/ashura cycle of violence has always been part of his destiny. but its still his own choice ... naruto wants to save sasuke. he doesnt want to abandon him. sasuke, he wants to be with naruto. so their love for each other, it is part of Who They Are and it saves them. and frees them of indra and ashura's violence ... but the point here is that "character is fate", it means that ur choices, desires and nature .. they are one and the same as ur fate. ur path is predestined but u DO have ur own will. ur very own will is much more what u cannot escape, not some higher power. its ur own self.
(trinity btw, she also runs towards her own fate and potential death despite having been warned by neo to not enter the matrix when he seeks out the source in there [or the "architect", the creator of the matrix]. she sees that his life is in danger ... and cant help but enter the matrix to try and help save him despite having been TOLD that she might die and promised neo to not do it. she cant help but do it anyway .. cuz she loves him. and cannot stand watching him die.)
madara CANNOT escape his Desire, his Longing for power bc power, it does promise control, and he cannot escape or circumvent his anxieties around trust, he cant trust ppl, its impossible for him ... he cannot communicate without violence, he cant help but WANT violent conflict w hashirama, he cant help but long to abandon his humanity and let go of everything that might make him vulnerable but he also Wants to be vulnerable at the same time asdsgdgdfs. the conclusion tho is that whoever u are as a person .. what u want and what u desire. it is what fabricates ur own destiny .. and it either dooms u OR saves u. in naruto's case, its his nature as a person that saves him (and sasuke). neo does end up saving the world and fulfilling his destiny as the one who ends the machines' world domination not cuz he WANTS to be a messiah but bc he just is. and madara ... its the reason he's doomed. his desires and wants .. theyre the reason his narrative ends in destruction
