Continuing guessing what s8 characters are gonna look like, here we have the firefighter

I absolutely think if I tried to draw Alex from memory he would like this.

Let's just pretend this taken was right before he did a firefighter calendar shoot (for charity) because in my head I'm like oh he's Mr. February or something and that'll be his nickname in the villa and he's gonna be coy about it but embrace it like one Jake "Sweetcheeks" Wilson.

If we were going based off of personal preference, I wouldn't have drawn him like this. But fusebox tends to cycle through the same character designs, so like, he's gonna be the white golden retriever dad joke loving Gary/Alex of the group, so he has to look like this. I'm sorry. I just don't think fusebox is gonna give variety. I also just have a hard time imagining the name Oakley with a non white person lol

But Gary/Alex clone basically summarizes my choices; it's not nearly as complicated as last time for me😂

Clearly firefighter, he's gotta have the large chest and arms. I was looking at at pictures of Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans, particularly for the eyes, hair, and torso, because that felt like that conventionally attractive, muscular dirty blonde guy was the vibe.

I gave him tattoos so he didn't look exactly like Alex. I think the arm tattoo is probably gonna be more detailed like Gary's tattoos but I was too lazy to find a reference tattoo to draw so I did those arm bands, which could also be a tattoo he has. I also think the chest tattoo might be bigger/more detailed but I didn't know what to draw so the fact that I drew a bird at all to represent it is great for me. I do think maybe it'll be one of those heavily shaded tattoos.

I at first gave him thinner eyebrows and then was like nah if this is Gary/Alex he's gotta have thick dark eyebrows lol

I also was gonna give him dirty blond hair but it ended up looking more like brunette with blond tips like Bruno and I didn't hate it enough to change it haha.

as for style, I imagine ya know a lot of plain t-shirts and jeans. Not the most interesting. But I think having a very cozy style or with some colorful button ups/florals like Raf would be fun and a nice change.

all that being said I do have an alternative idea which is that in addition to all the family stuff like Gary, he's just as nerdy as Ibrahim but more confident, still stylish and such. Okay so that being said the inspo is Winston Duke but I personally have a problem fancasting Winston Duke in everything so that's just on me. Anyway this is the pipe dream for this character

I just wanna say that sometimes I think about how your Tango wears glasses and I honestly love that but also he'd totally be the type of person that manages to forget he wears glasses and just goes about his day going "Why is everything blurry? Why can't I see?"

That or he breaks them to the point his glasses HAVE to be made out of netherite or something, he just a little clumsy <3

Oh yeah absolutely To me, his favorite way to wear his glasses is just pushed up into his hair. They're technically being worn?

Timeline 10 October - December 2023

For completeness and to consult when there’s discussion about his whereabouts. In addition to the previous timelines.

Timeline 10 covers 3 October 2023 - 17 December 2023

On 3 October he's back in NYC as he's invited as special guest for the event of TKOQ-us on October 4th. He's spotted doing a photoshoot for Departures. The next day pics appear, disappear and reappear again spotting him at Cafe Select with the editor of Departues, all taken on 3 October.

4 October he's at the Keepers of the Quaich event, many pics and videos are posted afterwards. (see my archive for more posts).

On 5 October more kilt and press. Followed by a video shoot at Two Doors Down on October 6th. Presumably he went after the weekend on a vacation. (see below, 25 October).

On 18 October he's on Fallon Tonight mixing cocktails, definitely recorded that same day.

On 19 October he's a guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show which airs on Tuesday 24 October. All while his fandom is shocked about a mistake he made.

20 October more promo for Access Hollywood at 30 Rock NYC, though it's said to air next month it's available on Youtube the next day

On 25 October he posts a video showing his comped vacation at Four Seasons Nevis clearly a latergram as he posts the same day a video in his garden which appears to be RT as he flew back the day before.

While Graham posts a pic of signing the books at Waterstones in London on 30 October, Sam posts the next day a video doing so. A combined video shows they're not signing the books together at the same time.

1 November he's at the Bafta screening of TCND, some more pics and videos and an impression. Two trailers are released a couple of days later on.

2 November he's at The Rake Anniversary XV party Claridge's Artspace, London

5 November the first book event at the McEwan Hall in Edinburgh, pics and video and 6 November the second one at the Barbican in London. At the airport in Edinburgh he was spotted by 2 fans.

7 November the book is released, articles in tabloids and a podcast are published.

We lose track after the book release, he posts on sm on odd times as of 10th of November indicating a timezone in the eastern part of the world. At some point Nepal is speculated. 2 or 3 days he seems to be completely of the grid, when he comes back he's a lot on sm. In een interview published later on he talks about planning a trip to Everest. After 21 November he seems to be back in UK.

On 23 November a story recorded at Waterstones, Tottenham road London is posted, but it's hard to tell if this was or wasn't a latergram.

On 29 November he posts a story, showing back in the studio and captioned OL S8 Prep

The next day, 30 November he posts a video showing the trailer from LA on a plane apparently to NYC. Which is later on confirmed by another video and story and a post from Alex for St. Andrews Day. He's recording promo and visiting his friends bar.

1 December he's spotted at a bar and on 3 December he posts a video at the Metlife with AN watching the NY Jets game. Another pic of him, AN and Peter L is posted on 5 December, recent though posted a bit later.

Friday 8 December he's scheduled for The One Show on BBC1. Some videos and pics are posted. Same day we learn he's scheduled on radio 4 Saturday Live on December 9. In the evening he attends Rusell Tovey's Talkart anniversary party at Toklas restaurant London

The Sunday brunch show on Channel 4 apparently got canceled, instead he appears on Graham Nortons Radio Show on Sunday 10 December

The first of the announced book events on Sunday 10 December is at Hatchard's St. Pancras, London. Many pics and video's are posted by fans

Wednesday 13 December he posted a story from London and a post showing he signed books at goldsborobooks (Cecil Ct.).While the story is from the weekend, the booksigning is RT as later on a fan posts a fan pic, saying she met him on 13 december, showing the same shirt as in the book signing.

On Friday 15 December he posts a video from the costume department at the studio in Glasgow.

On Sunday 17 December he signs books at Waterstones in Glasgow and stopped by for social_bite.

Finale Arc (S10+Crystalized): December 20X7 (or whenever the anniversary of Seabound's events would be) - January 20X8. Possibly longer, possibly shorter. Knowing me, probably longer. (Zane turns 24, Cole/Kai/Skylor: 23, Jesse/Jay/Pixal: 22, Nya: 21, Lloyd: 20)

Anyway, that is where Legacyverse officially ends; everything beyond is just fun speculation and does not apply to nor affects nor reflects upon the story proper!!!!

The Merge: approx. January 2020 (In my head, there's a minimum of two years between Crystalized and the events of the Merge, giving ample space for Quest for Lost Powers to happen on top of giving these people at least a small break (and maybe Jesse a baby), but not so long that they're that much older either yet. Thus, this also puts the timing of the Merge in the year of 2020.)

So Zane is almost 26, Cole/Kai/Skylor: 25, Jesse/Jay/Pixal: 24, Nya: 23, and Lloyd: 22 at the time of The Merge, for my case for show!compliancy.

...though in the chain of events that do include Cam, I'd add on an extra two years of "downtime", which would then put The Merge in the year 2022...maybe on 2/2/22 for extra eerie factor oooOOOoooh)

So, ages for The Merge event in the Cam!Route would be Zane: 28, Cole/Kai/Skylor: 27, Jesse almost 27, Jay/Pixal: 26, Nya almost 26, and Lloyd: 24. Cam would also be two, almost three ;w;)/

DR: Aaaaaaand then, the general yet subjective consensus is that the time between the Merge itself and the start of the DR events has to be a minimum of 3-5 years for Arin/Sora to grow up from kids to teens with palpable differences + the "annual" events of the Crossroads to have merit + that dialogue exchange after Zane's freedom to make sense, etc.

For show!compliancy, I'd actually go with the three years side of spectrum. So in 2023 (heyo, the year DR began in meta time!!!), Zane is almost 29, Cole/Kai/Skylor: 28, Jesse/Jay/Pixal: 27, Nya: 26, and Lloyd: 25, ding ding ding ding!

...But since I am me, I have already committed to the full five years for my own personal hcs. So for the Cam!Route, I'd go with five years instead -> so in 2027, Zane: 33, Cole/Kai/Skylor: 32, Jesse almost 32, Jay/Pixal: 31, Nya almost 31, and Lloyd: 29. Cam would also be seven, almost eight.

So, yeah. Not 100% concrete thoughts or anything, but they're the things I've been munching on in my head. And this is just basing off of how time plays out in Legacyverse, not necessarily 1:1 to how I think things unfold in the show proper (...which I dunno if I could even begin to untangle beyond what I already have ._.)

Also, if you're curious about others' ages in relativity to all this:

Bridget is 2 years older than Olivia

Miranda+Nelson are 3 years younger than Jesse (or, one year younger than Lloyd)

Antonia is older than Jay by a month, otherwise they're the same

Harleigh and Sunni are roughly Nya's age (but Harleigh's older + Sunni's younger); Maggie fits in this group as well

Harumi and Darkley's kids are obvs Lloyd's age, just older than him

Meghan is roughly Zane's age

Chad is Kai's age (just younger by a few weeks)

I haven't really thought much about K and Ac if they had more interaction in S8, then I wouldn't know because I didn't watch it sorry lol but I do remember that ship being speculated before! Ok so this one is actually strangely very hard for me because every new development in the show makes me careen in wildly different directions about who confesses first/who kisses who first/how it all goes down. And right now it's especially hard because I am hating so hard on the dead wife doppleganger plotline (not because I don't want them to deal with the Shannon of it all or hate the idea of Eddie cheating but because it's literally just SO stupid.....)

SO! Assuming that all gets resolved at the end of s7 and I can pretend it never happened in s8 (or like cherry-pick the good parts of the storyline ie Eddie finally taking Shannon of the pedestal in his mind) I would personally love Eddie pining arc while Buck + Tommy continue to date and then eventual Buck feelings confession like, twelve seconds after he figures out his feelings for Eddie because we all know he CANNOT keep things from Eddie to save his life.

I think Buck confesses but maybe it happens in a situation where they get interrupted (either it's during an emergency or something else is going on idk) and then they actually get together in someone's kitchen. I'm leaning toward Eddie's but I'd take Buck's! And then yes, that's when the first kiss happens

Okay wait one more post on 911 before I actually get some work done today:

Thinking about Ryan's interviews and the stills we've seen of people on set, I wonder if, at the end of the season, it's not Christopher who 'leaves', but Eddie. Talking about being more alone/without a support network, the vibe to me is not just emotional distance, but physical distance.

Like, that's crazy right? But if he's legitimately priming for a mental breakdown of colossal proportion (which he's GOTTA be at this point), and combined with whatever secret abuela is keeping AND Eddie's parents showing up, I wonder if they'll convince him to go back to Texas for a while to receive mental health treatment/do something with abuela.

BUT THEN what if Chris is pissed at his dad for cheating or the Shannon look-alike thing or something, so he stays with Buck? I mean he's his legal guardian if something happens (LIKE A MENTAL BREAKDOWN) and you KNOW Buck and Chris aren't going to be very impressed with Eddie once all this shit comes out...

So Eddie is really, actually alone, gets to have a reset and can come back and heal/make amends with his family a couple episodes in to season 8???

Obviously we have no real info about the final episodes/S8 so all this is WILD speculation, but I think it would be neat and a cool parallel! Like closing a loop!

speculating litg s8 characters part 3, here's cat cafe girl

so I could be dead wrong but my first thought is that this is fusebox's adorable (but unromanceable 😔) black girl. Think Thabi, Genevieve, and Willow (before she gets merged with the other girls). OR she's the out there life of the party funny girl who's only into you like Bella or AJ (but I feel less strongly about this just bc it seems like she's straight, so I did go primarily with the first option but I don't see why we can't make her adorable, funny, AND an LI).

so yea for whatever reason I see her as being either a late game love interest who doesn't realize her feelings at first or just like the other girls, not a love interest at all. if she is a love interest I'm imagining dyed hair (like Bella) and if not well then moreso like Thabi Genevieve and Willow, afro textured natural hair. I felt like switching it up (and also i couldnt decide between the two styles) so I just borrowed a picture of jhene aiko that was cute so it's still very voluminous hair but like dyed red. after i drew this i saw a tiktok where this woman had goddess braids and i was like oh thats cute too and i dont know if we've had a character with braids since najuma so maybe that. point is im indecisive she could look like anything as long as the hair is making a statement.

also willow/genevieve/thabi are closer to being midsize i would say (probably not quite, maybe just in between lol... women's sizes are confusing but this isn't a post about that) so anyway i just made her body type similar too.

The thing about the cat cafe though is that I instantly was thinking of some of my friends, who are Asian, but I do still think my other prediction that its the cute black girl is true. so I drew her blasian (I'm thinking like Naomi Osaka, Jhene Aiko) and I don't know if fusebox would put in a blasian character (the hardly put in any memorable east asian women anyway but more than the actual show at least) but I think she's cute and again just for the sake of changing it up.

i keep calling her cute bc of the cafe stuff but the drumming thing and the funny girl thing got me thinking about Bobby in his punk band (if I ever write an AU you bet they're gonna be in the same band) and that influenced her style. Still very colorful but cozy (I looked up some cat cafes on Google for this) but also a little alt (I tried googling soft grunge aesthetic which turned into e girl which turned into whatever this is). alternatively, maybe she's got dark academia vibes but that's not really fitting love island's summer aesthetic lol

i hope she's nice; she seems nice. maybe a little messy like uma or just waiting for someone perfect like thabi.

side note when i opened tumblr to post this i saw a starfire drawing and i think she could rock a Starfire cosplay

hi anon! oooh you missed alllll the drama lol

yeah so rumors have been swirling around for yearssss that he's an asshole and that by the end of arr*w he and his fellow castmates did not get along. fun fact actually:

this VERY popular meme above is from a picture taken during i think s8 of arrow during oliver's funeral. it was posted by someone who worked on arrow i believe and it said how they loved working with these people. anyway it grew into a veryyyy popular meme and if i remember correctly and i think i do it eventually came out that smell absolutely hateddddddddd this meme cuz he found it disrespectful or something? I'm pretty sure he said something about it online? idk how else i would know about this but yeah lol that's funny. everyone found it especially funny cuz he's not in the pic and it was shared with the caption loved working with these people when all these people hated working with amell (or so the rumors have been going at least)

but as far as I know there isn't actually like definitive proof he was an asshole on set? (but I'm also not part of the arr*w universe fanbase so idk all that much about it) I do know that an actor who returned for s7 and s8 ultimately didn't show up as much and he later revealed he left the show again because he was depressed and couldn't stand working with one cast member (which many have speculated to be amell)

then amell also tried to shut down an animal rescue next to him for being too loud? which is just baffling to me honestly, especially cuz he apparently used to volunteer there?

then there is the story of him like drunkenly berating his wife on an airplane which he got removed for.

he once made a facebook post about allegedly miley cyrus where he said he was dining out with his wife and daughter when mc walked in and he was so repulsed because she is idk like moraly corrupt for young girls or something? that was the gist of it anyway? something like that idk

but as for recently: sag-aftra is striking (an actors union) which he is a part of. because of this strike, actors are not allowed to talk about any past, present or future projects and are also not allowed to promote any of their current projects on say social media.

however, 2 days after the strike was announced, amell broke those rules by talking about his projects at a con. although it was very confusing at the time what actors could and could not say so fans kept it on the down-low.

flash forward to now (2 weeks later) and he's got a show which is starting to air its second season and he posted a selfie of him in front of a giant billboard with the show's name on on Instagram. this directly violates the rules of the union that he is a part of and led many people to call him a "scab" someone who is crossing the picket line during a union, choosing to work or promote their work instead of striking or standing in solidarity with those who are striking. and more importantly: because amell is part of the union that is striking, this behavior directly violates the strike order and any behavior directly violating the strike order, can make the union throw you out.

anyway: after that amell thought that it would be a great idea to say: “I support my union, I do, and I stand with them, but I do not support striking, I don’t. I think it is a reductive negotiating tactic, and I find the entire thing incredibly frustrating. And I think the thinking as it pertains to shows like the show that I’m on, that premiered last night, I think it’s myopic.”

so right now he's as far as i know the only actor who has been so outspoken against the strike. and like the important thing to remember is that this strike is not for him (clearly) he was on arrow before it went to streaming, he has countless residuals from that show that while now available on streaming is also still available on cable as well so he probably still makes a decent penny from his appearances in the arrow verse. but the vast majority of well-known actors are striking for the actors that are not well-known. there are over 100.000 actors part of the sag-aftra union. the vast vast vasttttt majority of them do not earn enough money from acting alone. are not fairly compensated and studios are now wanting to abuse their image and voice through AI etc. the demands of sag-aftra have been published as well as the studios' response and it's disgusting that studios rejected these very very very reasonable demands. any actor who loves their job and who has even an ounce of empathy for others would support this strike because it is the right thing to do.

except amell which is why 2 arrowverse cast mates have told hinted in tweets that he sucks:

Aisha Tyler (from cirminal minds), someone who he has been hanging out with for years (probably more because they have the same group of friends) also posted something about, "when people you thought were assholes, turn out to be assholes" it could be about someone else but very interesting timing if it is.

and then lastly of course there is this screenshot of his threads profile where he shared a post from the fucking asshole inc*l, transphobe, terrible human that is jord*n peters*n

Don’t think C was being literal, because of my job I’m aware of some filming location bookings , none have been cancelled/ postponed so far and they are for OL S8 . Maril said last week that at the moment the writers strike will not affect the filming schedule but if prolonged may do later in the schedule.

I know what was said about the writer's strike and how it wont affext filming BOMB nor OL S8 at this time. I just gave the same answer in one of the comments on my post.

I was surprised when I heard it myself when Cait said that at the end of the interview. And maybe it's not meant to be literal. I've no idea. But it leaves a lot of options this way for speculations....

…the Aemond Targaryen tag is much more vibrant, dynamic, and satisfying in terms of quality of posts, characterizations, and overall story explorations than this gutted out Thrawn tag. I’d ask wth happened to the Thrawn tag over this last year (especially these last few months), but I’m pretty sure I can speculate on this hypothesis. Mouse Ears—and that live-action ‘Rebels’ season otherwise known as ‘Ahsoka’…I just wish it hadn’t filtered into the weird crapped out postings on this tag nowadays. But, there it is, I guess. The difference between HBO quality (sans endings—we NEVER mention S7/S8 of GoT) and Disney?

I saw that other anon's message. I wanted to clarify, I was referring to the S7 finale not the series finale. Like I said that itw was back in S7 and I felt like JP was referring to the S7 finale because I'm pretty sure at the time S8 hadn't been picked up yet so it wasn't a guarantee we were going to get another season. Also, with regards to the series finale. I'm just speculating but had it ended like it was originally planned with Damon dies Stefan lives (we can only guess how Defan would have been resolved) and Steroline leaving Mystic Falls to find gifted children to bring back to the school, I don't think there would have been a KC acknowledgement/fan baiting. Like you pointed out as well as JP in itw's, it was Kevin's decision to switch the death and kill off Stefan.

However, I think JP knew she could "bait" that fandom cuz they were one of the one's left she could. DE fans didn't have any incentive to watch TO's final season, she knew the SC fans were going to be pissed, the SE fans have been pissed off for years, the BE fans were pissed, BD fans were pissed, the Klayley fans have been pissed off for years, Klamille fans were pissed, the Haylijah fans were pissed, Marbekah and KC was about all she had left (besides the GA). And, at the end KC fans were pissed because Klaus died and KC never became a couple which was hilarious, it made my day!

Like kmze called it right from the get go, Candice's stint on TO was nothing but a rating's ploy so JP could get Legacies but what's so funny about that is TO's S5 avg ratings & total viewers dropped slightly from TO S4, TVD S8 had better avg rating's and more total viewers, Legacies S1 avg rating's was basically the same as TO and had more total viewers, so that ship being serviced one last time did nothing.

At the end of the day, I do wish Steroline would have got their much deserved happy ending but at least we won and got our endgame! Stefan's death was a tragedy, not an end to their love. "I will love you forever", "I will love her forever too", "We will see him again", she changed her last name officially to Forbes-Salvatore, she runs a school in Stefan's honor, she still wore her engagement ring and wedding band around her neck. We got 2 proposals, them living together, a marriage, tons of great quotes over the years, they'll never have anything close to that. Not to mention, Legacies further solidified who was the ultimate winner of Caroline's heart, SC's marriage was mentioned, we got that musical tribute, KC's reference in Legacies "Just some guy who had a crush on Mom"

Last, in a few itw's post Legacies series finale Candice talked about the school being a nice full circle story arc for Caroline and how it was rooted in her love for Stefan and how it was the mark she wanted to leave on the world for the person she loved!

And this is why it’s a bad idea to center the story around so many different love triangles. It makes the fans divided, angry, and uninterested. When that happens, the writers are left baiting the audience into watching.

Yeah, I think kmze is right on this point. Inserting Caroline into TO was fanservice/fanbait because (1) Caroline told Klaus she didn’t want to see him ever again and (2) their will-they-or-won’t-they conflict was resolved in 500 Years of Solitude. Klaroline had closure. There wasn’t a story left to tell. Now, I’m not against fanservice (I quite enjoy it myself), but it can feel gratuitous or contrived when there isn’t a narrative reason. There wasn’t a narrative reason to bring Caroline into the originals when she hated Klaus and didn’t want anything to do with him.

Compare Candince’s stint on TO to George Clooney’s return to E.R. Doug and Carol were the IT couple on E.R. and their romance abruptly ended when Clooney left the show in season 5 (Doug is forced to leave for a controversial/illegal medical decision). Doug invites Carol to leave with him, but she decides to stay because that’s her life is in Chicago. However, it was later revealed that season that Carol was pregnant with Doug’s twins. Doug and Carol were still in love and now share children. Their story wasn’t over. So, when Juliana Margulies decided to leave the show in season 6 Carol had an epiphany: Doug was the love of her life and she wanted to be with him. So, she gets on a plane and is reunited with Doug. Having Clooney return for that single episode had a purpose beyond just fanservice. Clooney returned so that Doug and Carol could reunite.

For sure. Stefan is the love of Caroline’s life.

The consequences of King Bran

I had this sudden thought about the end of Game of Thrones, in comparison to the theorized end to ASOIAF, in regards to King Bran. I’m not a huge fan of this ending, and yes this is obvious because of my username, I’m aware! But at least in the show, it was lackluster and not foreshadowed in the slightest. Things may be different in the books in any case, though this is not truly what I want to put on the table for others to discuss and analyze.

I’ve read and talked about with other fans about how making Bran king at the end of the book series may be advantageous, because the realm is healing from the significant massacre of its citizens during the Long Night. And if this is the case, the showrunners and writers missed a huge opportunity to kill more people. I’m not necessarily saying more main characters—though this is another problem I have with the show—but actually more smallfolk, more un-named or lesser lords, etc. The fact that D&D decided that the War for the Dawn was only going to last one fucking night is preposterous for many reasons, but the main one is: the Others and their wights would have never tired because they don’t need food for water or rest, and could have totally swept through the weak and depleted Riverlands, Reach, Stormlands, Crownlands even, with ease.

And because the writers did not extend the Long Night, because they didn’t kill half the humans in Westeros like the Others had the means to do, there are so many contenders left for seats of power. There is a logical argument in saying that Bran may be a good leader because there is literally no one else to take on the mantel; I will concede to that. But there are SO MANY CHARACTERS LEFT AT THE END OF THE SHOW. Bran has no army to defend him from all these people who command thousands of noticeably-alive soldiers. Who, if they were in character in the last season, would have had more to say about this tiny kid who they just met today being king of the fucking world.

And because he just hands the North its independence without asking anyone else if they’d like to petition the same thing, it will snowball out of control quite quickly.

Yara remains: the Iron Islands have a long history of coveting independence and now that their last liege, Daenerys, is no longer living, it won’t take them long to realize that they have no opposition on the high seas, or the battlefield. Who cares if land is not their strong suit? It will be against, you guessed it, an army of Tyrion and a wheelchair-bound Bran. Yara will raise her men, who, once again, are not walking dead, and they secede from the mainland for good. And Bran cannot do a thing because his faction has neither strength at sea nor land.

Dorne and its unnamed prince: another example of a region in Westeros that was continuously on the outs with the rest of the Seven Kingdoms. They were not truly “conquered” until the Daeron II married a Martell princess. The dragons were never able to hold Dorne on the battlefield so what makes anyone think that Bran Stark and his lack of dragons will? They’ll be the first to go, in my opinion, because at least Yara had a previous somewhat-working relationship with the Crown, whereas the unnamed Prince of Dorne has no obligations to a single person at that Great Council.

Edmure and the Riverlands: this region, in the show and in the books, is always the most affected my war. If the Others would have made it past Winterfell, the Riverlands would be next. The smallfolk suffered during the War of the Five Kings and Edmure knew it and wanted to help. I always thought it was clever of GRRM that he chose Edmure Tully to be one of the only lords that actually cared about his people, because of his region’s proximity to the conflict. Yes, Ned Stark may have cared for his people as a whole, but we never see him do anything as protective as Edmure is by letting the smallfolk into his keep, for the poor of the North. And in the show, since the Others did not even glimpse Riverrun and its vassals, the Tullys have the army they do at the end of season 6. Edmure won’t like that he was insulted by the Queen in the North, and will take his next move from Yara.

The Stormlands are a toss-up for me: Gendry owes his legitimization to Queen Daenerys, not Bran. So either he will be overthrown and/or killed by the other Stormlords immediately upon entering his keep, or they will persuade him to secede as well. Arya jilted Gendry and if we are to believe she plans to never see him again, there’s a pretty good chance Gendry won’t care about the consequences of his actions because he has nothing to lose. It seemed pretty obvious that he didn’t want to do all this lord stuff without the love of his life, so it’s not much of a leap to assume he wouldn’t care about the trappings of royalty anymore. Storm’s End is nearly impregnable and Bran has no army to besiege the castle like Mace Tyrell did during Robert’s Rebellion. I have no doubt that with or without Gendry, the nobles or the Stormlands will not be appreciative of Bran or Tyrion. Maybe they haven’t flirted with independence quite as much as others have since Aegon the Conqueror, but it will feel monumentally better than watching all the other kingdoms secede and stay silent.

The Eyrie seems to the most realistic example here, as far as what the regions will be like after the defeat of the Others: the Knights of the Vale participated in the War for the Dawn, therefore the fighting force has been depleted. And I would argue that they have a very similar situation to the Stormlands; Rhaenys was only able to bring the Arryns into the fold by flying her dragon to the castle. Once again, without dragons, I don’t see how Bran is going to be as successful. Robin Arryn doesn’t know Bran; he was all in for Sansa. But since Sansa decided to leave him in the lurch to declare independence, I don’t think he and his advisors are going to stay besties with her. Sitting out the War of the Five Kings makes it even easier for me to theorize that they would be just fine on their own.

The state of the Reach is the most embarrassing thing that happened on Game of Thrones: the fact that we have to watch Bronn of the fucking Blackwater sit in the Queen of Thorns’ seat of power is a travesty. I always liked him on the show and in the books, but this, I cannot forgive. He is woefully ill-equipped to be lord of a keep, let alone Highgarden, and putting him on the small council as MASTER OF COIN when he can’t read or understand loans was beyond lazy. As far as the state of the Reach, they are pretty depleted from the sack of Highgarden, but even so, it seems painfully obvious that his lack of support from the other lords in the region will be his downfall. Maybe they weren’t 100% supportive of the Tyrells either, but there’s no way any of them will allow some up-jumped sellsword who’s best friends with Tyrion Lannister to lead them. Since Bronn has no army of his own, he’ll be dead soon enough and someone who was decidedly not killed during the Long Night, will take his place and give a middle finger to the Iron Throne, just like Olenna.

The Westerlands are the weakest of the remaining Six Kingdoms, I think: they don’t have much of an army after the Battle of King’s Landing. I think they’d be the only support of Bran after he is crowned, and that’s because Tyrion is the Hand. After Daenerys took Casterly Rock, most everyone bent the knee or died, so Tyrion doesn’t even have a suitable army to defend him, let alone the castle. I can’t imagine the soldiers remaining after all this would be enough to take on all the rebellions that are destined to occur after the secession of the North.

Lastly, the North: how will Bran react when his home region is starving and begging for aid? They have nothing to feed their people in the cold, white North. Yes, a lot of people died in the war, but there are plenty who didn’t participate and since it didn’t get past Winterfell, only those involved in the Battle—and the Umbers—were affected. Will the new king give it, even though they have no right to ask for it? Will he defy the laws of the realm for his sister? Because as far as I’m concerned, the North cannot sustain itself without the help of the other kingdoms. It’s not warm enough for farming, while the livestock trade was probably diminished when the Boltons were Wardens. Sansa would rather be in the Queen in the North than actually take care of her subjects; because by choosing independence, she has doomed everyone. Nothing changes for the smallfolk; it’s just another feudal overlord.

In conclusion: if Bran becomes King, there would have to be an apocalypse for it to be successful. There definitely wasn’t on the show, therefore several events will cause his coronation to be all for naught before Tyrion’s ten years are up. As GRRM has stated, the Others are the focus of the story and who sits on the Iron Throne is a secondary plot to distract from the actual horror. I’m not usually someone to ask for more horror, but when it comes to the future of Westeros under King Bran, things are looking terribly bleak without more of it.

I remember watching S4 & 5 and realizing ‘oh, Lance is going to end up having a huge part in Shiro’s arc’, though at the same time, as anyone who has read my story Ignite the Stars knows, I predicted the shit out of the Keith and Shiro fight (which, to this day, remains one of my favourite moments in Voltron). I always knew that a Keith and Shiro showdown was the only way for that to go, I just thought Lance would be involved somehow.

But he wasn’t. It was one of those little moments that had me stumped. A lot of people just got mad and accused the creators of hating Lance, getting rid of his arc, being racist, all kinds of bull like that.

It got me thinking though. Why set up Lance being the one to notice something was wrong with Shiro? Yes, a few others noticed that he was a bit off, but not in the same way.

It was one of those things, in retrospect, that Lance pieced together and realized ‘oh fuck it was staring me right in the face’. Some fans like to claim that Lance is the most observant one attuned to others feelings but…no, he’s really not. I can now confidently say that that wasn’t the point of the entire thing at all, because I think I know what it was, and I think we’re about to see this play out in S8. (Heads up, this gets super long.)

Lance isn’t the most observant of the Paladins. He’s not the most sensitive. He’s not the most intelligent. He can think of good plans, but he’s also an impulsive little shit too and isn’t the most patient. Lance’s greatest strength is the fact that he’s adaptable. Lance, from episode one, has been shown to learn from his mistakes. We see this when he crashes a simulation but learns from it and adapts, and is able to better fly Blue later.

We saw this when he went from claiming he would never follow Keith’s lead to being the first one to vocally support him. We saw this when his gun turned into a sword and he rolled with it.

Lance learns and adapts like no one else, especially when he makes a mistake. And we know a part of him feels guilty about what happened with Shiro.

That’s so important with Lance, because he’s not going to make the same mistake again.

I want to talk about Keith for a second now.

I’ve been one of the ones with the on-going theories that something is going to go down with Keith, that Honerva wants to get her hands on him for some reason that likely has to do with his connection to quintessence (and the fact that he was soaked in an entire vat of it). It’s very likely that she’s going to try to corrupt him in some form.

As we know now, in moments of extreme emotional distress, Keith does seem to get access to more Galra characteristics. The sclera of his eyes turn yellow, his irises become slits, it looks like he gets fangs, and, from those two moments during his fight with Shiro, he seems to become stronger.

While fighting with Shiro, those two moments were there for a reason. Keith was thinking about his actions, he was entirely on the defensive, but Shiro pushed him once and he lashed out, and that’s when we saw the Galra eyes and Shiro saying “There’s the Keith I remember”. It’s not because of Keith’s eyes, it’s because that’s literally the Keith he remembers, the one who would run full-tilt into a fight rather than play defensive.

The second time, Keith’s life is in danger, and Shiro says that the others are dead and Keith once again acts on instinct.

That part of him that shows up isn’t necessarily ‘feral’ or bad by any means, but when Keith’s in whatever frame of mind he gets in to prompt the physical changes, he moves by pure instinct.

A lot of people who don’t like the theory that Keith’s going to be corrupted or something argue that it’s playing into the ‘Galra are animals’, ‘Galra are all bad’ and stuff like that, but no, in this case, it’s not. Galra have never one been shown to react the same way Keith did. Not once. Galra have never once been shown to be able to shift their forms without quintessence. And that’s why I bring it up in this at all.

And Haggar/Honerva never showed any interest in Keith prior to this, where she would have been watching from Kuron’s eyes. We know this, because she wants Kuron to kill him. Keith’s eyes changing is the only thing that really would have caught her interest. She saw something there, something that made Keith stand out, and I doubt it was just the fact that he defeated Shiro.

I think that Honerva’s been targeting Keith ever since. The last thing she told her druids to do was to target the Blade of Marmora. Pidge assumes that the destruction came about because everyone in the Blade was exposed after Lotor fell, but what if that wasn’t the case? That was just Pidge’s assumption and we do face unreliable narrators all the time in this show.

Honerva doesn’t know what happened to them, but she was watching through the clone’s eyes when Keith introduced his mother to Shiro and called her ‘a member of the Blade of Marmora’. Not hard to extrapolate that Keith was one too.

She’s a puppet master. She doesn’t need to do everything herself. So she sends her Druids after Keith – taking out the Blade of Marmora in the process, but keeping Kolivan alive to draw others in.

The fact that the druid doesn’t target Krolia immediately in The Ruins tells me something was up with that. She admitted to training a ton of Blades. She’s a high ranking member. She should have been target #1. But she wasn’t. Keith was. Yes, Kosmo separated Keith from the others, and the druid threatened to kill him – but I don’t think that would have ended up being the case.

I think that a part of him maybe hoped to hold Keith (like Kolivan) until he could find ‘Haggar’ again.

Except, she was gone doing her own thing with the Alteans, growing her own Empire. And she didn’t leave it at that. I think that Acxa too is working for her (in a show of loyalty towards Lotor most likely…to try and help him), and has been trying to track Keith specifically. She literally tells us this.

Unlike the Druid, Acxa helps them. Acxa puts herself in a position where it seems like Keith and everyone else can trust her. She plays on Allura’s feelings for Lotor too – relating to her over the entire thing. It works.

Now, why am I talking about all of this? Because something’s up with Keith.

1.He doesn’t appear much in the trailer. Two scenes (get to your lions and when he’s fighting). The last time they pulled that with Keith, it was because he left Voltron. Now, I also think they only showed us footage from maybe 3-4 episodes, so that’s still a lot, and there was plenty of Voltron shown so Keith has to be there (not to mention stuff from NYCC), but the point still stands.

2. In this first pic of the group, he’s up front and center. Keith doesn’t shy away from being the leader now. His posture is open, confident, and he’s ready for anything.

Then we got the picture from what’s likely the filler episode, and it was pointed out that something looks terribly wrong with Keith’s eyes.

There’s no shine to them, which is a pretty good indicator that you should be wary of a person, that something’s wrong with them. At first I thought it was just an error, cause budget, but they’ve added in that detail in smaller scenes before.

It’s not there on purpose. (This series of pics came from this post here on twitter!)

It’s very likely that something or someone is working to ‘corrupt’ Keith in a sense. Probably his quintessence. Who does he currently trust that was shown looking for him specifically at the end of S7? Oh, right. Acxa.

It wouldn’t be hard to isolate Keith. Get Pidge and Hunk doing their own thing, Shiro busy being the Captain of the Atlas, and Lance and Allura off with one another? Not to mention the hurt Keith probably feels about that whole thing? Yeah, he’s going to be spending time with Acxa, likely being more isolated from the others and slowly corrupted.

The newest picture tells me this too.

His eyes already seem dull there, and he’s physically very separated from the rest of the Paladins (outside of Shiro, but that makes sense given the layout of the ship). Pidge, Lance, and Hunk look ready to throw down with whatever they’re looking at, Shiro too, and Allura looks super concerned, but Keith doesn’t even look like he’s looking in the same direction.

He’s Voltron’s leader. He should be front and center if there’s a threat there (plus that’s the Keith-thing to do). He’s not. This is the second image where he looks off. Something is wrong.

In the trailer, we see him alone. He has nothing but his Marmora Blade with him. He looks cornered and desperate. That’s not a good thing. Something is wrong.

Now this started as a Lance post and turned into a Keith one. Why?

Well, if Keith’s subtly being corrupted, subtly starting to change and act differently, no one’s going to catch onto this, right?

Unless, of course, there’s someone around who almost caught onto a very similar scenario, but ended up just shrugging it off and felt terribly guilty over that. Someone who just happens to be defined by being adaptable and learning from his mistakes. Someone who seemed to lose part of his own story arc out of nowhere.

Lance was never going to be the one to save Shiro, because he’s going to be the one to save Keith. THAT is what the entire thing is building to. I mean, you can take it from a platonic standpoint if you wish though I don’t see it that way.

Keith being ‘corrupted’ is super similar to what happened with the clone, and that’s the entire point. Lance wasn’t able to help Shiro and sees it as a personal failure. We know he does because he was in tears about it. It’s especially important that Shiro tried to reach out to Lance in the Astral Plane – because that moment turned into a failure, and ultimately, that’s the place that Lance is going to actually save Keith.

I still think that we’re very likely to see a fight between the two of them – and no, I’m not romanticizing violence between a pairing. Jesus. The assumption that the fight in and of itself is the exciting part is disgusting. Keith won’t be in his right mind at all, and in the end, it won’t be Lance defeating Keith the way Keith defeated the clone that decides the ‘winner’. Keith outclasses Lance as a swordsman by a long shot, and Lance isn’t going to be able to defeat him.

Keith tried to reason with Shiro, tried to talk to him, but it didn’t work. In this case, Lance is going to try to do the same. He’s going to try and reach Keith because he doesn’t want to fight him. They’re not enemies. At the very least, they’re friends. And it’s going to work. He’s going to get through to him, because no, violence isn’t the answer to this at all.

That’s what makes it so powerful.

So, to summarize: Lance’s storyline with Shiro appeared to be dropped, but it really wasn’t. It was set up for his upcoming storyline instead.
