#portals and teleportation are only op if you know how to weaponize them

Something I love about Leo is that, canonically, he IS capable of cooking, he’s just completely incapable of using a toaster. He’s banned from the kitchen not out of an inability to make edible food, but because being within six feet of a toaster causes the poor appliance to spontaneously combust.

I want to do a ability analysis but tbh the only in mind is Leo’s portals and how odd they must be (not Donnie?! The blasphemy) soooo
Leo’s abilities compared to what we’ve seen in the show about portals make him incredibly op, for example portal jacking is a thing because portals aren’t things you just throw around and when we another character used a portal they had to use something to create it it’s not just an ability to us requiring their own catalysts and such and despite everything saying that they should be used more around the hidden city but aren’t they’re the equivalent of airplanes which aren’t used for daily travel and such and would be used only for longer distances
Now we look at Leo’s portals, he uses them daily and for just grabbing a drink from the fridge or just moving around and we can see he doesn’t even need need his swords to move he just needs them as landing pads he literally can just move across the space time continuum whenever he wants wherever his sword is he can go and just… move across the air and his ability is straight up teleportation which from the SMALL knowledge I know of Isn’t all normal but eh can happen now we bring the fact that he can just SPAWN portals with swords and it takes him nearly no energy like he can just do that and his accuracy has increased A LOT from episode one a good comparison I’ve seen is that his portals make the battle field his own chess board letting him go anywhere he wants and sending his brothers across the board, he can also use his portals as a weapon chopping people in half or sending stuff through the portals like rocks or rockets for example to attack the villain which is just another add on to how op the portals are compared to how portals are used in the hidden city
In conclusion Leo’s abilities are strong because of his ability to just teleport around with no care not saving it for anything important being able to just use it Willy nilly compared to residents of the hidden city who use it sparingly and can get portal jacked

ROTTMNT AU
Hello yall! I’m new to tumblr so srry if I make any mistakes. Anyways, I have thought of a rottmnt au. I haven’t actually watched the show yet, but I’m planning to. I still know a good bit of the lore tho. So here are my rottmnt au ideas!
Deity au
the four turt bois are gods that have existed since the beginning of the world. Kinda, they hv an order of birth ofc. The first one to have been born was Raphael, who will be the god of destruction/death. Next were the twins, Don and Leo. They will be the twin gods of reality, Don being in charge of time w leo in charge of space. Last was mikey who is god of creation (ironic how the god of creation was born last lol)
Together they made the earth and took care their mini lil planet. Leo makes the space where it will be staying, don keeps time flowing properly. Mikey creates life like plants and humans and other animals and rocks and everything else. Raph brings death. Stuff like earthquakes, plagues, volcano erruptions, tsunamis, anything that causes death/destruction to keep the life and death cycle going. The bros continue to do their god jobs while earth develops. By that I mean humans.
Humans are aware that the turt bros exist and worship them. Bcs of this, the bros get their own special god names which ate like titles. They hv their first names, their true and personal names which are Raphael, Donatello etc you know what they are. Their second name is like their name as a god. Yknow how genshin archons hv personal names and then god names like zhongli and morax? Like that. Basically their name for their identity as a god. Raph - Aleph
Don - Beth
Leo - Gimel
Mikey - Daleth
Time for the bros individual stuff!
Raph is the god of death. He mostly just brings things that cause death like I said before, natural disasters. He has his main weapon (weather its the sais (is that how you spell it?) or the tonfa idk, I choose tonfa) and he can do his mystic power where he has the red bigger version of him, except its amped up to 10 and he can get like as big as buildings. He also has his own scythe that he uses to like help dead souls in the land of the living get to the afterlife. Basically grim reaper (or spiritfarer because yes I know that game)
Don is the god of time (one of the two god of reality) he is in charge of constantly keeping time flowing properly. He can stop time, rewind it, of fast speed it up. Mans is op. He can easily see into the past and even see into the future sometimes if he focuses. He would also have his own place called “the archives” (idk if thats an actual thing in the show so-) where he records as much knowledge and history he can. It is located in another realm made by leo for him. Its also where his lab is and you can bet he has so much tech. His battle shell would be even more advanced with more weapons and features, his wrist thing would also be able to directly connect to the archives and is a full on gauntlet that is weaponized. Same with his shoes. Yes, he has them. He also had a mini clack watch thing that helps him control time, keep track of it, and check out wtf happens in the past and future. Using the clock, he might even be able to see multiple possible future timelines instead of the vague dreams he gets.
Leo would also hv some good gear bcs don gave it to him since they would be working together to not make the world fall into chaos. He makes sure that the space makes sense. Makes sure that the world is following the proper rules of physics and stuff so it doesnt go out of control. He can somewhat warp the space around him. However, he cannot create or destroy, he only changes/warps. He can like make stuf float, change how gravity works, change someone’s memories-This is also how he can make portals and teleport. I like to imagine that other dimensions like the twilight dimension and the prison dimesion happened because baby leo lost control over his powers and sh1t hit the fan. He also has an orb he can use to create one way portals to spy on what is happening on earth. This is usually what he does in his free time if don is not forcing him to help organize the archives.
Mikey is the god of creations and he has his weapon that is made out of solidified flames. His kusari fundo burns any normal mortal who touches it until not even ashes are left. He creates via drawing. He has his infinite sketchbook (dont ask him how it has infinite pages, ask don and leo) and his trustly pen where he draws on it and then brings his creations to life. Of course he could do it without drawing, but its more effective that way and has more detail and can be more planned. He can summon fire and manipulate it. He is besties with mother nature.
All of the bros hv their own place where they live. Raph in the underworld/afterlife mikey in a secluded forest, don in the archives, and leo is homeless and is continuously wandering around. He really likes teleporting to space tho (they dont need to breath) As for April, she met splinter (who has the same backstory as before) and they became friends. She soon came across the bros eating pizza and they just became friends and splints somehow became a father figure to them. I have ideas for an actual fic using the movie (kinda) if yall want. So yeah, thats it.

TRQ Jailbreak!
okokokokokokokok. SO, last we knew, Raven has porta-ed to Tai. (This is important because it means that likely Raven is not Connected to any other of the tribe). Now, this was at the end of, what, Vol 5?? So it’s taken however long it took to get to Atlas + the time spent training with the Ace Ops + a day since then. I don’t know how fast birds fly, but I doubt Raven could fly across the ocean between Patch and Vale, the whole of Vale, the ocean and part of Anima in that time. And, even if she could, she was in no emotional state to do so after confronting her daughter and seeing Vernal die. I’m sure that whatever conversation she had with Tai didn’t help.
So, the point in all of this is that there is a chance that she’s still in Patch with Tai. If she wasn’t, I don’t think she would have the initiative to portal to him herself after seeing Ruby’s broadcast, but if she’s with him, I have a feeling there’s a way Tai could bully her into taking him to Atlas.
This is where things get a bit tricky. If they portal to Qrow, it’s going to be a jailbreak. (sidenote, have Raven and Tai met Ironwood? When did Ironwood get brought into the mix?). Now, unless Qrow goes through some intense therapy, I doubt that he’s going to be up for it. Buuuuuut, I have faith that Robyn could kick his ass into gear. So, they get Qrow. Where now? They could stage a classic jailbreak, busting out of prison with brute force, but then they would have to deal with Ironwood, Winter and the AceOps. I think Raven would teleport them to Yang, because as far as Qrow knows, she’s with Ruby.
Ok, so now we have R + TRQ with JYR. They’ll explain what happened to Oscar and the Hound. Robyn, Jaune, Ren and maybe Yang will go back to Mantle to stop the river. Tai, Qrow and Raven are going to go save Oscar, maybe with Yang (ugh, I’d love to see some Xiao Long and Branwen team-up fighting).
They sneak into the Whale HQ. (Remember, the only ones who are there are Tyrain, Mercury, Hazel, Salem, the Hound, and Oscar/Ozpin/Ozma.)
YTRQ is fighting to get Oscar back. (Ok, I haven’t seen the episode yet, so I’m not sure if Tyrain got a job. If so, it would impact this cuz he wouldn’t be at the Whale).
I’d assume by now, Salem has told Hazel to leave, and is further interrogating Oscar. Who knows, maybe she’s gotten him to talk.
Thus, the Hound would be on guard outside the Salem/Oscar room.
Yang vs. Merc, Qrow vs. Tyrain, Tai vs. Hazel (note: if Yang has gone with Robyn, Jaune and Ren, then I bet Tai would take Merc on a) because he messed up Yang and b) because he hasn’t been fighting as much as Raven and Qrow lately, so he get’s the easy kid.
They defeat them! Yay!
They get up to the room where Salem and Oscar are. Standing outside, as a guard, is the Hound. (Note, Salem may have gone off to yell at Cinder, so the Hound would be guarding Oscar even more, perhaps even being in the room with him, which could involve Ozma sensing something is off about her)
Here comes in one of my favorite theories: Summer Rose = hound.
I can see this going many different ways. 1) They fight, somehow it is revealed that it is Summer. 2) The Hound recognizes them, and Summer fights to gain momentary control to allow them to pass. 3) Raven, with her portal sembalance, can tell that Summer is near, because they’re Connected. Whatever happens, you can be damn sure that this is the end of the Volume.
(Why? Because we need to know what’s happening with Penny, and the Grimm River, and Mantle, and the Happy Huntresses, and the Ace Ops, and Ironwood, and Winter, and RWBNM, and Whitley and Willow and Maria and Pietro, and Watts. The plot of what Tai and Raven have been doing might take up an entire episode, and follow them all the way to jail and then to Yang. That gets us to episode 7, which would go back to Penny and RWBNM. Then we have the hiatus! (Note, the TRQ episode might also be interspersed with Ghira, Illia and WF 2.0 trying to get to Atlas (or some other Academy to protect it). We might not even get Penny and RWBNM until after the break. This would leave us 6-5 more episodes. We’re going to have a grimm river arc (allow me again to o off on a tangent; RWBNM makes it back down to mantle, where R + JR is going, they meet in the crater, Ruby is informed, but she doesn’t have time b/c she has to make the tough decision and fight the Grimm river. Also, the Blake/Yang worry that’s been building would be explored further here, along with the stuff between Ren and Nora. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ren has a breakdown, further reducing the amount of Huntsmen able to fight the river, which makes Ruby have to stay and fight the Grimm River. We might even get the Achilles arc that people have been foreseeing. Anyhoo, it would require Ruby’s silver eyes, so she would have to explore the stuff Salem said, which would be fascinating if the timing worked out to juxtapose YTRQ finding SummerHound)
To conclude this very complicated and not likely theory, I think it would give CRWBY an important opportunity to explore Yang’s relationships with all of team STRQ. They tend to forget about Yang’s emotions regarding Summer, so having the reveal with Yang present and not Ruby would do a lot in terms of exploring Yang’s identity as Ruby’s caretaker post Summer’s death and her relationship to Summer after Raven left. ALSO, we would finally get a STRQ reunion, which would lead to STRQ lore in the next volume (please please pleaseee), interactions between TRQ and Yang AND a Tai weapon/sembalance reveal, and maybe even a Summer weapon/sembalence reveal (although that seems more of a thing that would happen in the next volume STRQ lore dump).
Anyway, I would love this. I know people are getting grumpy with the sheer amount of characters, and wish that it would only focus on RWBY, but I would really love to explore STRQ + Y family dynamics, as well as the myriad of other opportunities this theory would give our characters in terms of development. (Also, if Nora is still incapacitated, I see Ren and Jaune staying in Atlas, perhaps with the Whitly, Willow and Winter, which would reduce the amount of characters. And if TRQ goes off in pursuit of SummerHound, maybe with Oscar, that leaves RWBY + maybe Oscar for the next leg of the journey. (I see Maria staying with Pietro for moral support after Penny).
What do you think? Give me your ideas/critiques!

Uncharted Waters 12: My Monsters are Real (And They're Trained How to Kill)
Tumblr media
AO3 || Ko-FI
It was supposed to be a normal day.
Yugi had won the tournament, she’d soothed Seto’s ego after his loss, Marik was, apparently, no longer hunting down the items, Mai and Bakura were awake and safe, and the blimp would be en route back to Domino at any moment.
And then the alarms had started blaring.
Two portals had been opened, one in the warehouse district near the docks, and the other at a local park. Kenji and Yume had the agents divided up, orders given to suit up and try to blend in.
Reika had opted for her batons instead of her gun since they were easy to hide under the sleeve of the leather jacket she wore. Her hair was thrown into a messy ponytail, a cloaking device blocking anyone from recognizing her.
She hoped, anyway. There was no telling who may have come through.
“Two at once. You don’t think someone’s managed to co-op our tech, do you?” Aiko asked as they sped through the Domino streets.
Reika was holding onto the door for dear life, Aiko’s tires letting out the worst screeching sound. “No idea. You realize your dad said to blend in, not to go Mad Max on the roads, right?”
“We gotta get there and figure out what happened, don’t we?”
“We aren’t cops, Aiko! We don’t have si- rens !” Reika yelped at a sharp turn, before exhaling in relief when the warehouses came into view. “That’s the one, at the end.”
Because of course , it would be the last warehouse in a parade of sketchy-looking warehouses.
“Weird. It looks like it hasn’t been used in a while,” Aiko remarked, before she spoke into her earpiece. “This is Aiko. Agent Reika and I have made it to the warehouse. We’re beginning our inspection now.”
Reika frowned as she noticed the camera. “This is Reika. Can anyone at headquarters see if the cameras at this warehouse are in use?”
“Doesn’t look that way. The warehouse is supposed to be abandoned,” came the voice on the other end of the line. “Last time any sort of payment was made on it was two years ago. You’re clear for entry.”
It was unnerving how easy it was to gain entry, and after they’d divided up, she found herself wandering the lower level with Aiko.
“This is so weird,” Aiko whispered her gun at the ready. “What is all this stuff?”
Lab equipment was all she could guess. Tables were lined with beakers and test tubes, some containing God-only-knew-what sort of liquid.
“I don’t want to know, but I feel like we should call someone else about it,” she replied as they paused outside another door. “Count of three. One, two, three!”
Aiko kicked in the door.
It was a storage closet containing clean lab equipment.
“Just a storeroom, commander,” Aiko said. “We’re moving on.”
“Copy that.”
They continued down a hallway, and that’s when she heard it. A steady, rhythmic beeping.
“Is that… a heart monitor? Like they use in hospitals?” Reika questioned.
“Sure sounds like it. It’s coming from here…” Aiko said, kicking open the door, gun at the ready before pausing. “Huh. What is that?”
Reika peered into the room and felt the color drain from her face.
“No,” she whispered, edging inside.
“Holy shit, is that a kid ?”
“No…”
“It’s not?”
She ignored Aiko, forcing herself to sprint the distance to the machine. Her hand, shaking, gently rested against the glass as she stared at the figure, and the scream she’d been fighting back ripped from her throat, legs buckling and knees slamming into the hard cement floor below.
Noah Kaiba was floating in the strange, blue liquid, the steady, rhythmic beeping around her confirming her worst fears.
This was a KaibaCorp warehouse.
Noah was here.
Had Leichter known?
Sobs and dry heaves wracked her body as she curled into herself, head pressing into her knees, the world around her vanishing as all she felt was grief, six years worth, pouring onto her hands and spilling onto her lap.
“ - can’t get her to respond. She’s just been sitting there sobbing,” she heard Aiko say as reality slowly came back into focus. “Reika?”
“Huh?”
How long had it been?
“What is going on? Who is that?”
Her hands, still shaking, reached up to wipe the tears from her face as her eyes cleared.
“ That ,” she croaked, her voice strained, “is Noah Kaiba. The biological son of Gozaburo. H - he was in a car accident six years ago… Gozaburo said he was dead ! He told me he was dead !”
Hiro looked at her in concern. “I don’t know why Gozaburo would have said such a thing, because according to these documents… Noah did flatline, but they were able to save him moments later.”
It should have been good news. It should have been one of the best pieces of news she’d heard in her life, but all Reika felt was horror and despair.
“Then why is he here ?” she managed to choke out, her hand slamming against the machine. “Why didn’t he get to grow up?”
“I don’t know. I’m still looking into it.”
Reika held back a sob and tugged at her hair, then frowned when she remembered she’d put her cloaking device in. She tugged it out of her hair and let her natural appearance return. Even if Noah couldn’t see her right now, it felt wrong to not look like herself.
She slowly stood on shaking legs, using Aiko for support. “What now?”
“Now… we figure out what the hell that portal signal was. Someone wanted us here for a reason,” Hiro replied.
“I’ve found the transporter,” Yume said into their earpieces. “I’m gathering the data now.”
“Noah…” she whispered, putting her hand on the pod again. “I’m so sorry. I’m going to get you out of there.”
How? She had no idea, but now that she knew Noah was here, alive, it was only fair that she fought to get him out.
“I found something!” Miho cried from across the room. “Joey and Yugi went into a virtual game with Mokuba, right Reika?”
“Yes?” Reika responded, drawing the word out with dread.
“Noah is in a virtual world too. These papers say Gozaburo designed it after his accident, to protect his body,” Miho explained. “But the project was abandoned five years ago.”
Aiko frowned. “Five years ago? But Noah’s accident was six years ago. Why would Goz - ”
“Because he had a shiny new toy to play with,” Reika whispered, swallowing back another wave of nausea. “He abandoned Noah. Left him here to rot !”
“This is sick…” Hiro said. “We’ve got to get him out of there.”
Reika nodded as her communicator buzzed. “Agent Reika speaking.”
“... Reika?”
The little color that had returned to her face drained from it again. “Roland? How did you get this line?”
“The blimp has been hijacked. Fuguta was shot trying to protect Mr. Kaiba. Before he passed out, he gave this line to me. Which is good because our radio and cell phones are down and -”
“ Roland . Where are you?”
“Roughly fifty miles from Alcatraz.”
Reika moved the communicator away from her mouth, covering the mouthpiece with her hand. “Fuguta is down. He’s been shot,” she whispered, going back to Roland. “Roland, who hijacked the blimp? What happened?”
“It was a boy. He couldn’t have been older than Mokuba. I think they called him Noah.”
Her eyebrows raised as she looked around the room again, blocking the mouthpiece. “Get Yume in here. Now. KaibaCorp’s blimp has been hijacked and her daughter is on board.”
Hiro’s face went white as he began speaking into his device.
“Continue, Roland.”
“He ordered Seto, Mokuba, Yugi, Joey Wheeler, Tristan Taylor, Téa Gardner, and Mai Valentine out of the blimp. When we tried to follow, Fuguta was shot. I don't know what happened after that. What is this device I’m calling you on? Why did you call yourself ‘Agent’?”
“I’ll explain later,” Reika said. “If I need anything else, I’ll contact you.”
Reika had to take deep breaths as she ended the communication. “If the virtual world Noah is in is on KaibaCorp’s servers… and the virtual reality game Seto created is on KaibaCorp’s servers…”
“The Big Five might be involved,” Aiko finished, reading her mind. “Good God, Reika, do you think they would agree to kidnap the people you care about? I mean, didn’t you tell me Leichter was a mentor to you?”
“They did it once before. What’s stopping them from doing it again with who was supposed to be the original heir to KaibaCorp? The KaibaCorp that they wanted?”
AIko didn’t respond.
“Alright, listen up! We don’t have time to waste. Kenji and his team will stay here and look for more information,” Yume said as the squad gathered in the room. “Meanwhile we’re going to go to the KaibaCorp blimp to figure out what happened there. Cloaking devices on. We don’t need everyone to know who we are… Reika, you’re free to leave yours off.”
The coordinates were added to Yume’s teleporter, the deep blue ripping open. One by one, the agents stepped through.
The first thing she noticed was the whimpering girl sitting in one of the pilot’s chairs.
“Hey…” she said softly, kneeling next to her. “What’s your name?”
“S-Serenity.”
Reika smiled. “So you’re the famous Serenity I’ve heard so much about! I’m Reika. I’m Yugi’s cousin. You’re worried about Joey, huh?”
Serenity nodded. “Y-you look worried too.”
“I am. But I’m going to make sure everyone gets back here safely.”
“How?”
Reika smiled, giving Serenity a look of confidence. “I’m going to beat up the bad guys, of course!”
“Hey Serenity, I thought - Reika? How the hell did you get here? Who are you people?” Duke asked, tensing as he took in the strangers.
Yume straightened. “We’re special agents. We’ve received word that KaibaCorp has access to technology it shouldn’t, and when we heard one of our agents was shot, we came to investigate.”
Roland lost what little color he had left in his face. “One of your -”
Another agent stepped forward. “Commander, I’ll stay behind to fill in Roland and check on Fuguta. The rest of you should go and find the kids that were kidnapped.”
Yume nodded. “Very well.”
“I’m coming with you!” Duke suddenly said. “I’m not just going to sit here while my friends get hurt!”
“Me either!” Serenity said, suddenly filled with confidence.
Yume sighed, looking like she expected this. “Fine. We have enough weapons to protect you both should things go south.”
“Wait! You can’t go out there! They have guns attached to the walls! They’re motion activated!” Roland fretted. “If anything happened to Miss Muto, Mr. Kaiba would kill me!”
She was touched at the sentiment and angry that her house of cards was collapsing all at the same time. “Roland,” she said softly. “It’s okay, I promise. Let’s test the guns. See if they’re still operational now that Noah has what he wants.”
Duke had brought Serenity an apple, so they tossed that out of the blimp. When no guns went off, Reika slowly stepped outside as well.
“They’re not operational. Noah must be distracted. Let’s go.”
The agents huddled around Duke and Serenity, and the group made their way into the building, winding their way through the hallways, some agents breaking off to gather information after fighting off the robot guards, before they finally arrived at a large room, filled with pods, not unlike the one Noah was in.
Yugi and the others were inside.
“Joey!” Serenity squeaked, rushing over to his pod.
Duke followed, holding her back. “Serenity, don’t touch it! We don’t know what it does.”
“But we have to get them out of there!”
“We will,” Yume said, though she was trembling as she stared at Téa’s pod. “The question is, how?”
“I’ll go in,” Reika said. “If the Big Five are involved, maybe I can convince them this is a bad idea and they’ll tell me the way out of there.”
Yume sighed. “I don’t like it, but I don’t see what other choice we have. Just be careful, Agent Muto.”
Reika nodded, getting into one of the spare pods and feeling the world fade to black.
She felt a soft pillow under her head and the weight of her batons still hidden in her jacket.
She could smell the barest hint of cigar in the air.
She could see bright lights behind her still-closed eyelids.
She could hear a man with an American southern accent whispering as soft jazz played from a nearby speaker. It was familiar. Comforting.
It was wrong .
Reika’s eyes flew open as she quickly sat up, a wave of dizziness washing over her for a moment when she tried to orient herself.
“Miss Reika.”
She took a deep breath, raising her head and locking eyes with him. “Mr. Leichter.”
“You’re lucky I managed to secure your mind before it got too far in this world,” Leichter chastised. “Otherwise, you’d be in your worst memories. I don’t want that for you. I don’t want you here at all.”
“Did you expect me to not try to stop you once I found out you’d kidnapped people I loved again ?” she questioned.
“You should know by now that people that cross KaibaCorp very rarely get the chance to escape. Your family should not be an exception to the rule. But I can make this world better for you. Anything you want can be yours here,” Leichter said, crossing the room and standing before her.
She rolled her eyes. “Okay then, what I want is for all of us to get out of here. Including you and the rest of the Big Five. I can help you, Leichter.”
Leichter laughed softly and grabbed her chin. “No, Miss Reika. You can’t help me. No one can.”
“That isn’t true. I have friends - ”
“It’s too late for that.” The grip on her chin tightened, and he frowned, considering. “Your eyes are holding so much pain. I’ll protect you though. No more yelling or fighting.”
“What are you talking about?”
Leichter’s eyes seemed to soften, just a touch. “Your parents… then Master Noah and going to school, was it? Must have been so difficult…”
Why was he questioning her going to school?
Reika felt her pulse quicken as she tried to pull away, to no avail. “Leichter, let go.”
“No, no, Miss Reika. I think I’d like to see some of your happy, happy memories from your time away.”
The office fell away, and for a moment, they stood in darkness.
“So you made it to California okay?” Yugi had asked on the phone.
“Yep! LAX was a nightmare to get through, but I found my guide. I’m unpacking now. You should see it, Yugi. The sun, the sand, the water…”
“We have all of that in Japan.”
She’d laughed. “I know, but it feels… different somehow. It’s probably just the butterflies.”
“So what are you going to do first?”
“You mean after I take a nap?”
Yugi laughed. “Yeah, after that.”
“I dunno. I’ll probably get to know my roommate, or take a walk around campus. It’s huge, so I should get my bearings before classes start.”
“That’s a good idea. I should get to bed. It’s past midnight here.”
“Yeah, get some rest, Yugi. I’ll try to call you later.”
The scenery returned, and it was the I.D.R.A’s base in Loguetown, an apartment above a bakery, with the teleporter hidden in an attic. Large windows faced the sea, and she remembered how she used to watch the ships in her downtime, wondering when she’d find a crew of people she could trust to take her out there with them.
“This is not California, Miss Reika…” Leichter suddenly said. “This isn’t anywhere I’ve ever seen. And you know I’ve been to many countries with Mr. Kaiba.”
Reika said nothing, staring down at the floor.
Leichter grabbed her chin again, forcing her gaze. “Miss Reika, did you hear me?”
“The I.D.R.A is watching. You should be more gentle with me,” she snarled as the room twisted and warped to the deck of the Going Merry.
They were safe. They had managed to escape from Loguetown and no Marines were in sight. The skies had finally cleared too, and it was nothing but peaceful.
“So what do you think so far?” Sanji questioned as she sat with him in the galley. “Any regrets?”
She laughed softly. “It’s certainly a lot to get used to, but no, no regrets. Even if I did have some, wouldn’t it be too late?”
“I’m sure Nami-swan would be able to find an island to drop you off at.”
She wrinkled her nose. “And sit for another month to find someone going to Loguetown? No way! I’m where I need to be.”
“What do you mean?”
Reika paused, sipping at the tea he’d insisted she have. “I mean… I feel like I belong here, on this ship, with you guys. I spent so long feeling trapped and helpless after my parents went missing that it's nice to feel like I belong somewhere, that I can do something to try to find them. You know?”
“I guess,” Sanji said, taking a drag of his cigarette. “It took me a while to feel like I belonged here. I’m just surprised you could leave your aunt behind so easily.”
“Who says it’s easy?” she questioned. “But it’ll be worth it when I can find out what happened to them and give the rest of the family some peace of mind.”
“The I.D.R.A managed to ensnare you. Oh, Miss Reika, I’m so sorry. If I had known, I would have stopped them much sooner!”
She stepped away from him, her arms raised in a defensive position. “Stopped them? They’re the only ones that can find my parents!”
Leichter waved his hand and the world warped, spinning out of control. “I know. I know, that’s the one thing you want in this world. And I will give it to you.”
“Leichter, what are you - ”
The spinning stopped, Leichter vanished, and Reika fell to her knees at what the world had twisted into.
Her childhood bedroom.
“Not here…” she whispered. “Anywhere but here.”
“I told you I would take care of you, Miss Reika. You won’t have any more pain here.”
“Leichter, please !”
“Little star! Can your father and I talk to you?”
“Mama…” she whispered, gasping as her eight-year-old self appeared in the room.
Her parents entered right after. Genji scooped her into his arms, and her younger counterpart laughed, lifting her arms in the air.
“I’m flying!” Little Reika giggled.
“You are!” Miaka said, her laughter joining Reika’s.
Reika’s knees dug into the carpet as she watched the scene. The bedroom was exactly as she remembered it. Purple bed sheets and pillows,, with twinkling fairy lights hanging above it (“Your mother was rightfully convinced you would be born on Tanabata,” Aunt Kumi had told her), her keyboard was against another wall. Shelves of books were near the door, and stuffed animals lined her bed.
“Mr. Kaiba says we get to play for you next week!” Little Reika announced. “We’re gonna play -”
“Shh! We want to be surprised, Reika!” Genji said. “But Mama and I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
Miaka smiled. “That’s right. And we’ll make sure to take a video so the rest of the family can watch too!”
“But that’s not all we had to tell you.”
Little Reika looked at them curiously.
“In two weeks, your Mama and I will be going to California for our anniversary, which means you’ll be staying with grandpa for a while. Is that okay?” Genji asked.
No!
“Okay!” Little Reika said. “Will you bring me a present home?”
“Of course we will. We wish we could bring you with us,” Miaka said. “But we’ll tell you all sorts of stories when we get home.”
(She often wondered if lying was as hard for her parents as it was for her)
“We’ll miss you so much, but I’m sure it’ll fly by. I bet grandpa has new games he can show you.”
Little Reika nodded. “Yeah! I like the Capsule Monsters game he showed me last time I was there!”
“You didn’t stop talking about it for a week! I bet you’d kick my butt at it!” Genji said with a wide smile, reaching to tickle her.
(Reika swore she could feel the feather-light touches too)
“Look at the time! I think we should start dinner,” Miaka said, kissing Little Reika’s forehead.
(Th at she felt, and it was a jolt to her system)
Genji lifted Little Reika onto his back, and the trio left the room.
Reika let out a shaking breath. “I don’t have a choice but to follow, do I?” she whispered, to no response.
Right. Azila was safe in the real world.
Heading downstairs, she froze again. Instead of dinner, the scent of pancakes and bacon filled the room.
“Ah, there you are, Reika! I swear, teens today sleep much later than we used to,” Miaka chastised from the table.
She was looking right at Reika. Not through her, not at a specter of a past Reika, but her .
Like this was real.
“I - ” she managed to choke out, her throat dry.
“Drink some juice, sweetheart, you sound half-asleep still,” Genji said as he flipped a pancake.
Reika wordlessly lifted a glass of orange juice to her lips, taking a large gulp. “I’m just really happy to see you.”
“Oh little star, did you have that nightmare where your father and I don’t come home again?”
“I… yeah.”
“Well, you don’t have to worry about that. Your father and I are here to stay .”
Wait, why did that sound wrong?
“But visually, vocally, it would be the same!” Pegasus cried.
“It wouldn’t be them .”
She gripped the glass harder than she’d meant to, and it shattered, the orange juice stinging as it mixed with the tiny cuts now on her hand.
“Oh goodness, let’s get that cleaned up!” Miaka said. While she had her back turned, Reika bolted for the door, and the world began to spin.
Her worst memories? Fine. She could handle that.
She was eight, and her parents never came home.
She was twelve, and her friend was assumed dead.
She was sixteen, and she found out her parents were never in California.
She was eighteen, and she turned herself into a criminal.
The Going Merry was eaten by a whale as soon as they entered the Grand Line.
Nami was ill, terribly so. Vivi thought she might die if they hadn’t found Drum Island.
She was clinging to a sled as it climbed up a mountain, frostbite cutting through her mittens.
(“If I take you up there and your friends don’t come, then what?” Kureha sneered.
“Then you can toss me off the mountain.”)
She was marching through a desert with the crew, the sun beating down on them.
She was thrown from a window, landing in the waters outside the casino.
She was in an alley, Mr. 3 in front of her and ready for a fight.
The clash began as it had before, before she was pinned to the ground, one baton just out of reach of her fingers while the other sat near a trash can.
Mr. 3 was babbling, and then the knife came down, cutting into her chest and shoulder and she screamed out in pain, just like before.
“REIKA!”
That didn’t happen before.
Panic surged through her as she grabbed the baton. “Jupiter’s Storm!” and Mr. 3 was blasted away.
She tried to scramble to her feet, to hide the blood that was dripping down her arm but the pain was too intense, and she found herself unable to move as Yugi and his friends loomed over her.
And the foundation to her house of cards was gone.
“Oh,” she wheezed. “Son of a bitch .”

Minecraft could have such a cool lore and game mechanics
So I played minecraft since I was like 13 or something, when the thing was still in early beta. I still play it, but after half an hour tops I just lose interest and quit. The game isn’t challenging, the world seems empty and npc and animals like wind up toys than anything else. I know minecraft is a canvas you have to paint on, but I was always more into the idea of Minecraft as a world you have to tame and grow into. There are mods that do that, like rlcraft (which im not gonna play cause the lycanite mobs don’t fit into the games art style and ice and fire mobs are straight up unfair). And you know, since I have a script, dissertation, stop motion animation to do this semester for my Filmmaking Uni, I’ve been thinking about minecraft a lot. Procrastination, am I right my dudes?
I have no idea how to make mods, I can barely use Java to install Optifine for crying out loud, but I can write a couple hundred words post on this hellsite that no ones gonna read, cause it’s literally my first post, and no one can stop me! Also maybe somebody’s gonna get inspired and make it. No need to credit me, just let me play it XD
The World and Lore, I guess
So, let’s get one thing straight... Is the Minecraft world post apo? Like let’s be real for a second. The player is the only human specimen in the entire world. There are villigers that are vaguely humanoid, but they are definately “The other” some ofshoot of the human race than actual human beings. Zombies and skeletons seem to share the player’s anatomy but they’re undead, therefore dead, therefore had to be alive at some point. So yeah, let’s work with that!
Let’s say that in a distant future, like distant enough for new subspecies of homo sapiens had time to evolve with enough pressure. The human world died after they opened the portal to the End. This allowed magic to seap into the world, boosting the technology but also corrupting people it cam across with. Like why is the Ender Dragon dropping more exp than your PC is able to handle? Cause she’s the source of all magic! Why do monsters drop it? Cause it’s what reanimated/mutated them. So according to this, fucking with the eldritch magic balls is what created the zombie virus, destroying the human race. Also the End is the moon. Like not our moon. Opening the portal didn’t just link the worlds together, it straight up teleported the End into the earth orbit, destroying the native moon and replacing it. And that’s why the monster’s only come up night, cause that’s when the End holds the most influence over the overworld.
But what about the villigers? Just descendents of humans who have survived the apocalypse. Some adopted peaceful agrocultural approach to survive, sharing and caring and being lovely anarchocommunist communities. The other ones living according to the “Survival of the Fittest” evolving into the illigers. But that’s only the two races that are already in the game. Since it’s supposed to be a mod adding shit, lets get some new races! The dwarves have been talked about by the developers so let’s add them. Shorter and stockier than humans, with glowing eyes and not so much beards as just thick fur on their bodies. The underground is cold after all. Also descended from humans, this time those that had enough brains to burrow themselves underground. They just chill in caves, building something like big ant colonies. You could trade with them just like villigers, although instead of emeralds they’d want silver (We need like shitload of new ores, my good people). Oh, and they wouldn’t be pacifist like villigers, if you piss them off, they will mine you to pieces. You could also find them in random caves mining their own business (XD) and by business i mean resources you could mine yourself. And so if you’re a bellend, you could straight up murder them and grab their stuff and have your ores left unmolested. Or you could pay them off to share the loot, giving you a temporary partner with basically x ray vision, leading you to more ores, than you’d find yourself. But at the end of the day, you’d be obligated to split what you found 50/50, meaning that you could get more stuff than on your own, or less, depending on your in real life luck. Boom, reasons for morals.
I’d like to see a basic faction system, based on which aspect of the game the player finds most appealing. If you’re the kind of a peaceful player who just wants to build and farm, the villigers are your people. They’d gladly take you in if you build, farm and trade for them. If you’re into conquest and looting Pilligers could use your skill to cut some Villigers throats. And if you want mining and exploration, The dwarves wll take you in. Ofcourse you can just be your own person and solo the entire thing, and no one will nag you.
Character Customination and Skills
I want roleplay, man. Skins are cool but what if on one save I’m the peaceful farmer, developing my village and chilling with my bros, but on other I’m the fucking antichrist, burning them to the ground and taking what I want? Do I just swap my skins depending on what world i’m gonna play today? I quess I could, but that’d be hardly graceful. So let’s just put proper character creation into the game, with ethnicity, hair models and all that other bling. Ideally you’d also be able to paint on your characters if you want scars or tatoos or just dont want to look human. Clothing on the other hand would be a seperate system linked to the survival system. But more about the clothing system later.
Also since Minecraft is getting slack for becoming more of an RPG when it got its full release, lets embrace that. I’d split them to Gathering, Combat and Crafting skills.Gathering would include your tool proficiency, allowing you to skip enchanting altogether while still getting some upgrade for your tools. Also chances for more resource drops or just getting new utilities from the tools. Any movement releated skills should also be there for simplicity sake. Combat is self explanatory, if we add different weapons types, than there has to be some incentive for specialization. Some skills for combat overall wouldn’t go unwelcome. Dodging, parry without a shield, throwing various weapons and stuff like that. Crafting would be for the new weapon customization, enchanting (including proper spell casting wands) and alchemy. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves with that.
Custom Tools, Weapons and Armor
Doesn’t it bug you that on multiplayer server everyone just walks around in enchanted diamond eq, throwing all sense of individuality out of the window. Do you like the idea of roleplaying as a cave men the entire game, but the stone sword doesn’t really give you that opportunity? Well let’s do something about it. Instead of vertical tool and weapon progression let’s do it horizontally. Lets take a bit more realistic approach to crafting. Stone tools have to knapped and assembled, bronze has to be casted, iron hammered into shape and wood carved. All types of materials have their drawbacks. Knapping tools would just need you to pick a stone in your offhand and the crafting material of your choice in your main and right click. And from there you get the list of shapes you can knap your stone into. And after choosing the tool/weapon type of your liking you knap it again to customize the shape more. Do you want your hatchet to look like a primitive piece of sharp rock or a skillfully crafted tomahawk? Casts for soft metals and wooden objects would be made in the same way, just with a carwing knife instead of stone and wax or wood for the crafting material. Than just put your cast into clay to get a mold. Fire the mold, craft a crucible and pour the molten metal into the mold. Change the anvil from an enchanting tool into a proper workbench for your hard metals. Then craft some handles, guards or accesories and put them all together in your crafting window. Different materials would have different pros and cons. Stone tools have low durability but don’t have any wear mechanic. Wood rots, Soft metals can bend and have to be straightened and hard metals rust and have to be cleaned. Also no tool progression. What you can mine depends on your mining level. Right now you can easily get diamond on yout first day if you mine deep enough. Locking it over a skill tree would pace the games more high tier materials more naturally. Also diamonds are classed as knapped material. No diamond swords for you, but a diamond macuhuitl is totally cool. Just craft a wooden sword of your choice and add some diamond blades in the crafting.
Armor would be split into classes, Light, Medium and Plate. You can’t make armor out of stone (so no diamond armor either, but you could encrust your other armor with it) but you can make wooden plate. Just for the heck of it. Different armor classes would affect your stamina meter differently.
Guns!!!
I’m not a gun nut, but hey we have gunpowder in the game. Let’s add guns. But just the flintlock ones, atleast the ones made by the player. They could be made out of anything even stone, just for the heck of it. They would be crafted like any other weapon. But shooting them would be expensive with all the gunpowder you’d have to loot from creepers (I like the idea of dead creepers burning away, giving you only a short window to loot them) or craft from sulfur, a new rare resource. Still they’d pack quite a punch and make hella noise, bringing all the monsters to you. Also long reload time, they’re flintlock after all.
Also lets adhere to an old fantasy trope and make them unenchantable. Their op as they are.
Animals and Looting
Just add more animals. Add more predators, so the day isn’t just a cake walk. Add predators hunting. Pray running from a player simply approaching. Give me a run for my food. Animals reproducing on their own. If you want to tame livestock or pets than you better hope for a rare domesticated kind of animals or trap and break them enough for them to let them eat from your hand.
And what about hunting. If you manage to kill an animal, it doesn’t just disappear and live porkshops in the cloud of smoke. Every killed entity just turns into a corpse that you have to manually loot, while holding a sharp weapon (for simplicity sake). All of them drop their hide (acting kinda like armor with its own durability, on which depends how much letter you’ll get from it, thus encouraging clean one hit kills), a lot more meat (so you don’t have to slaughter an entire herd just to have something to eat) and bones. Also food would spoil now, to discourage hoarding it. But there would be workarounds like salting it or drying it for jerky.
Various animal hides could act as trophies (if you’re a cunt) or for crafting special clothing items or beds (since proper wool would be much harder to come by now).
Monsters and the Night
Same deal as in the main game. Mostly undead with some mutated mobs like creepers and phantoms. The only hostile mob I’d add would be Vampires, who would follow the player and try to score a hit while you’re unaware. Of course they’d be rather rare. Enderman on the other hand... Let’s raise them to the mini boss standard. When they were announced I was hyped, that they’ll be a proper horror mob that you could be genuinely terryfied of. But no, they just vibin’ most of the time. So let’s change them. Since in the new lore the undead are humans corrupted by magic, enderman should be the remnents of the humans who have gone and got trapped in the End, turned into the Dragons army. And now their job is to stalk you and kill you. You still have to look at them for them to turn hostile, but now they don’t care if you only looked at them from the distance. If they can see you and you can see them, they attack. Give them proper range. Let them teleport behind you to score a hit. Put blocks in your way if you try to run. They could pick you up and teleport with you next to ledges (they shouldn’t just be able to throw you over the edge, let’s give players a fighting chance). They should also steal more valuable blocks than just dirt. Let them target specifically blocks placed by the player, allowing them to pick holes in your defenses for other mobs to get to your house.
The night itself would change. For the first couple nights there should be no monsters. The rise of the undead according to the new lore is the Dragon learning about the new human in the world trying to slow them down from discovering the End portal. But for the first few nights it would be unaware of your existance, letting you to get comfortable. But when the first full moon hits, The dragon saw you and she will let you know she sees. And from then on, every night the undead horde will rise to haunt you, only resting during the eclipse (since the dragon can’t see). On the other hand the full moon would be equivalent to the blood moon from terraria.  With mobs more aggressive, able to break your doors and forcing you to defend yourself. Also you wouldn’t be able to sleep during the full moon. If you manage to fall asleep, you wake up dead with mobs spawned all over your house. Also the mobs don’t burn in the sunlight. When the night ends, they just disapear like Enderman.
The mobs right now spawn only on active chunks, but let’s add a lore reason for it. They’re targeting you. This is why going to a village means bringing the horde to them. And if you don’t fight or they kill to many, the viligers will add two and twoo together, banishing you from their dwelling. The illigers will just turn hostile. The dwarves won’t mind since the undead are plentiful underground anyway.
Also give me my Overworld Dragons. Like proper fire breathing ones. Kinda like the ones from Ice and Fire but actually managable and not the size of goddamn school.
Survival Mechanics
Let’s add thirst. You can’t just drink any water ofcourse, so while food means you have to scavenge or hunt, thirst encourages you to either find drinkable streams or distill the water. Eventually just drink juices or booze. Yeah, let’s add booze. Just for fun, with all the stuff i’d want to add the game wouldn’t be kid friendly anyway.
You have to sleep now. Unslept nights cut your stamina meter by 25% while also bringing the phantoms to you. You can sleep without a bed, but you’re risking temperature debuffs and less stamina regen.
Temperature. With adding seasons and all the clothing option it seems reasonable (also i loved it in don’t starve). To not make the HUD to cluttered I’d just display the temperature on your heart meter, having them freeze over for cold and dry out for hot. Dried and frozen hearts wouldn’t be included in your hp pool, meaning that temperature makes you weaker. You could fight the temperature with proper clothing, fire or ice. Although the hot temperatures would be more forgiving, just making you lose water faster and being managable with shadow from blocks.
Clothes would have their own slots, be made in their crafting table and heavily customizable like banners and letter armor, giving proper use for all the dyes we have. They could also be drawn on like player skins. You could also wear some of them on armor, allowing for further character customization. They’d have their own durability, but be easily repairable. Aside from temperature protection they would be mostly cosmetic and if you don’t like the idea of having to wear a coat in the winter, just enchant your shorts with some frost protection.
Hunger would be overhauled slightly, letting you to get fat from food. But just like in real life FAT IS YOUR FRIEND (just you now, moderate amounts). It let’s you absorb all foods value even with a full bar. Still to much of it will slow you down and make your stamina bar go down faster. Oh and it’s no longer your stamina bar, that’s a seperate thing now, indicated by a small lighting bolt icon above your exp level. Still a full food and water bar is nessecary for healing.
Enchanting
Bookshelves no longer make the enchantments stronger. Atleast not the decorative ones. Instead you have to enchant books on your own hoping for the “Arcane Knowladge” enchantment, which can’t be put on anything but, if you put a book with it in the bookshelf it will raise the enchantment cap. So does leveling your enchanting skill, as well as allowing you to see what enchant you’re putting on your stuff, as you grow more fluent in the language of magic. Enchanting would also be more powerfull in the night, as that’s when the End - The birthplace of magic is the strongest. This also means that enchanting during the full moon would create the most powerful enchantments, if you can manage to enchant while the undead hordes attack. And they will try to get to you as an active enchanting table is drawing them closer.
Different materials have different enchantibility. Pracious metals are overall more conductive, while obsydian might make fire enchantments stronger. This would come into play mostly when crafting staffs!
While Guns are unenchantable, Staffs are just weak pole weapons without magic. But enchanting them let’s you pick a spell for them, like lightinig bolt, healing, stuff like that. One staff can hold only one enchantment and casting spells uses exp points meaning that you’d need quite a big pool to be able to just be a mage. While staffs are two-handed you can also make wands to cast with your offhand. Ofcourse they’d be less powerful to balance things out.
As the Anvil is now a crafting station, the Arcane Anvil would take it’s place made from obsidian and golden bars. While we’re at it lets also think about Arcane Chests to store your exp.
Player Death
Why can the player just live after death? Well depends on difficulty. If you want to lose your stuff but keep the skills, it’s because the last humans put a spell on you allowing you to be uneffected by the corruption and also be linked into the world, cursing you to wake up from dying in the last place you slept, making you think if your death was just a dream. If you want a more hardcore experience then it’s because they cast a spell of reincarnation on you, so you don’t come back as the exact same person, having to work upon the achievements of your predessecors (I have no idea how to write that, I’m polish okay?). And if you just want straight up hardcore, they sent you to the future, with only one chance to make things right. Applies to the multiplayer, there’s just more of you that have been cursed.
If you find your dead body you can loot it. But on the reincarnation difficulty all the food, potions, weapons and armor you had will have long rot away. A lot time passed afterall.
The Stronghold and the End
So if you actually read so far, I love you and congratulations. I’m writing this while I’m high, so it probably doesn’t make much sense. Still, thanks!
So... Strongholds suck. Let’s get rid of them. Instead let’s put the End Portal in a new rare biome. The Ruins! They would be a large decimated city from before the apocalypse, now overtaken by vegetation with undead present even in the daylight. The magic is right in the heart of the city after all. The undead are much more powerfull here, some even having modern weaponry like assult rifles. They can be looted, but they’re all falling apart and you can’t craft them. But you could repair them and use them. They’d be end game unenchantable gear. Enderman also stalk the city, so you’d have to be prepered for them. You still find the city with the eyes of ender, but this time crafted with a compas and obsidian to create the Ender Compass, cause fuck throwing balls into the air. The End Portal is in the heart of the city in the special dungeon called the Crumbling Facility. It’d be a long parkour challange with you having to reach the top while also fighting for your life. “But Pchlarz”, I hear you saying, “You could just build across or up, this is Minecraft”. Well no, cause the building would be made from gravity affected blocks, meaning that if you do, the whole thing falls apart. As for building up, try to do that while being shot from every direction. What if the tower falls? Well, the End Portal awakes spawning more monsters and moving to the height limit. So now you would have to build straight up, while the Enderman teleport to your position and try to throw you off. But if you get there, the Portal is your to enter.
And so you do. Before you stands a temple build in the center of the New Moon. The towers are still there and the Dragon still heals from them. The temple is built from blocks the Enderman took from you (not just them ofc) You destroy the crystal and fight the dragon. It picks you up, throws you around, breathes Black fire (purple is ugly, sorry guys). You chip at its health and finally you bring it to half. And thats when the dragon falls into the temple with broken wings. Now it’s a ground battle. Now you have cover, but the temple is destructable. It’s blocks affected by gravity. Finally you kill the dragon. It imbues you with its magic and drops it’s heart. Still beating, Scarlett and glowing. The Enderman stand around you, their eyes no longer white (yeah i dont like purple), but now inteligent with pupils. They seem thankful. You’ve won. The end stone around you starts crumbling, falling into the void. And there’s no way back home. You start to accept your fate. You’ve sacraficed yourself to end the Undead horde’s reign. And thats when an Enderman takes you by the hand. You walk to the edge of the crumbling world and gaze into the blue globe staring at you from the abyss. It’s the Earth. But you wouldn’t survive the impact. Not from space. That’s when you see the Enderman holding something, with his hand stretched out to you. He’s holding a pair of wings. The Elytra. You put them on, say goodbyes to the newly freed Enderman and dive into the world beneath you, watching as the tall figures behind you die with their dying world.
You crush into the earth. With half a heart you drag yourself to safety. The Ender compass now points the way to your bed. You walk. Victorious.
Endgame
So you’ve beat the game. What’s now? Well the Enderman are no longer hostile. And the dragon heart? You can put it into your alchemy station and turn it into the potion of resurection. While the zombie villigers could be cured with a golden apple and the potion of weakness, the human zombies need this one. The skeletons are to far gone, but zombies and vampires can be turned back. The Dragons Heart can never be used, but if you lose it, well it sucks to be you hero.
With cured humans you can create a village and start rebuilding. You can have relationships with them, turn them into companions and even have children with them (i like stardew valley okay). And with their numbers growing it’s up to you if you will live in peace with new races populating the world or reestablish the human reign on earth.
Okay this took me like three hours and the weed is wearing off. I think way to much about minecraft, maaan. Still hope you like it. And make this mod for me. I’d be grateful.

Foul Gunplay
A small little incident among the Bomirian Facilities. But it also seemed that an infiltration mission had gone awry due to a bounty hunter. May bullets fly. Oddly enough this being an early one, this is a rather long one.
This tale begins in the southern Tarnkan city of Province. It's a small bustling city as it is directly next to a portal to the Core. Making Province a strong merchant town. But just like quite a few merchant towns from the old world, it is also a centerplace for underhanded dealings and secret meetings. Even some members of the Tarnkan government council enlist secret operations. Unless things get botched, most people across all worlds do not know anything about these operations unless it gets brought up to the high council on the core. And right now, the high council has its eyes distracted as they are currently keeping an eye on Bomire.
The town of Province is bustling as usual on a fifth moon day. That would be equivalent to a Thursday on Earth.
And whilst in the town, you could hear much conversations of harder and heated arguments as to fairness of trade or transaction. Merchants tend to learn to hold their ground on making offers, doing this most of the time reels in the desired transaction. Here, the game that is played is 'how badly do you want it'. But progressively some of that rustle and bustle is silenced to some loud stomping and the sound of a bit of clunking metal.
Down these streets walked something odd. Not many have seen it before. But it looked like a suit of armor, almost too small to not fit anyone in it. The classic military coloring of it made some cower in fear, and some salute in respect. He seems to be just marching, but knows exactly where he is going as he heads directly to the large busy tavern towards the center of town. Where anyone can get a drink, or pick a fight, there was always something to do in Province.
Entering the tavern isn't homely. There were a few drunks littering the front, either passed out or beaten to a pulp. A lovely welcome, as the clunks begin to enter the door. The entire floor starts to go quiet. Well accept for a few ex-soldiers who had been there.
“Well. Lookey here fellas, that bucket of bolts they told us about showed up here. Of all places.” A man would break the silence. His body battle worn, missing an eye and a leg, which has been replaced with a prosthetic. He had gotten his four other friends' attention looking to the metal man. All with similar wounds and scars. And they had seemed offended by this man's prescense in the tavern. And a few of them stand from the table they were at. Looks like they were here to play cards, but something else has come up.
“How does it feel Williams? To be the only one in the squad to get the special treatment. When we were all banged up bad from that suicide mission.”
“Yea. And you get all that gear. And what do we get?! Full fucking discharge with no pay. Not even recognition for that op!”
“The branch screwed us and only you get the better of it. What the fuck Williams?!”
The metal man. Obviously recognized as Neil Williams, would stop in his stride. Staring back at them with his still human eyes. There is a light where his mouth used to be, and it glows as he speaks, his new voice comes from a thought to audio communicator. So he does say the very words he's thinking. And the tone from it sounds breathy, but the words can be easily determined.
“I can understand your anger. But I did not choose this. Hell. Damien, you of all people should know that I am supposed to be dead. We were all valuable units after that op. I know that. Why do you think that I took the explosive inside, as it detonated early?! I should be dead. There is no way you can change the choice the branch had made to give me this....body.”
The men just look at him angered, but begin to cool off. One of them sighing.
“Aye. You got a point. If you hadn't went in there on behalf of us. We wouldn't be standing here now would we? But why Neil? Why keep this?”
Neil was getting ready to start heading to the back. He walks to a door, stopping at the doorway and looking back.
“Because, with this second chance. I can continue the fight. “
The other men just nod at this true soldier, before going back to their card game.
“He's on a never ending mission. Since he doesn't know his objective anymore.”
Old war buddies aside, Neil had other things to tend to. He was called to that tavern from his commanding officer. It is odd for him to have to come out here. But he has his suspicions as he heads to the back room. Seeing his officer in casuals who immediately greets him on entry.
“Glad you could make it Neil. This is of utmost importance.”
“Uhhh. Sir. If it's so important. Why drag me all the way out here?”
The officer sits down in a chair at the lone table in the room. Getting Neil to shut the door. “You have a weapon on you?”
“Always.”
“Good, I have a horrible feeling, but I have to tell you this here and now. It's a new task, given by the high council. You know everyone has been on edge about Bomire right?” The officer lights up a cigar. Neil told him how cliché that is, but the officer doesn't care since he smokes cigars anyway.
“I can understand everyone is on edge about it. Those eggheads have started getting shifty.” Neil stays standing, his arms cross in front of him. “I hear that the councilwoman of Launa wants nothing more than to put a stop to Bomire's biological research.”
The officer chuckles. “When I look into that woman's eyes, I can already tell there's a large reason she would want that. But I'll leave that as a side note for now. Now for the job at hand.” The officer stands up again and lays down a schematic of an array of bomirian research facilities. About three of them. “We've gotten intel that Bomire is working on some sort of artificial teleportal. Not quite like the ones already placed by Aldraea herself.”
“What makes this one so different.”
“The advantage Williams, this teleportal from what we understand, is remote and can open at any desired location. Meaning Bomire can have a way to steal things from other worlds for their 'research'.”
Neil looks at the schematic, looks like three buildings in a circular pattern. The officer explains, “These are the main research and data buildings, they are located near the center of the facility we will drop you off at. The computer with best access to the files is located here towards the south end.”
“And what do you want me to do. Destroy what they have built already? Don't you think the council will shut this down?”
The officer looks at him, taking another puff of the cigar. “Actually no. If we were planning a demolition, we would've sent a team. But this one we are sending you alone. And we think that even if the council intervenes, they will go through with their project in secret. And we are taking it upon ourselves to get preemptive. We need you to get a copy of their current data, schematics and everything. That way if what I fear does actually happen. We have an easier way to make countermeasures to it.”
Neil takes the facility schematic paper. “Alright. I'm sure I can get in and out with that data. I'll go ahead and head over now. Be ready to get Cree on the other end.”
The officer chuckles, “Admit it Williams, you have the hots for that chick.”
“Only on a business basis. Nothing further.”
“Whatever you say metal head, you have emotions under there and you know it.”
It's not long before Neil leaves the tavern. And exiting the town via a hoverbike. But what he and his CO does not know. Is that there were ears inside that room. And it transmitted long distance to someone. A wild card that no one had even considered.
“....we are being preemptive on this one. We need that data.”
A click of a button turns on the recording.
“So. The cheeky ones need some data from the eggheads. If I beat this metal head to it. I might be able to get a nice chunk for it. Hehe.”
A slim hoverbike drives off to the southern portal to the core. From there it's faster to get to Bomire.
Neil waits for a night phase on Bomire. Hiding his motorbike in some of the shrubbery, the camouflage on it would make it blend in so well. As he waits he messes with his equipment, prepping his rifle and pistol. And making the final detail, hooking up and making sure his severely long range connection to headquarters. Making sure that Cree is on the other line.
Diane Cree is her name. A knowledgeable girl from Launa, who decided to serve Tarnk, and had risen through the ranks pretty fast. And she is the only person that Neil trusts on the other end of the line.
Cree on her end has a series of monitors to help keep an eye on Neil's position, situation, and condition. Neil can't exactly feel what injuries he sustains much anymore.
“Cree, you there?”
“I hear you loud and clear metalhead. I have all your readings up and going already.”
“Metalhead? I think the CO is wearing off on you. Or is that for earlier?”
A few clicks on a keyboard in front of her, and Cree brings up readings of surroundings and nearby scans up to a hundred yards around Neil.
“Oh what. The canceling our date? I can get over it. One of these days I'm going to get you to relax. All these ops are probably not good for that brain of yours.”
“Alright you considerate flower girl. I'll keep it in mind. I'm about to head in. Anything ahead?”
Cree scans through the radar. “Good timing tex. You are clear. But be careful. I am getting at least one reading in the room where your objective is. There are some surrounding patrols but they seem to be leaving. Those vents are big enough to fit your metal butt into them.”
Neil holsters his pistol starting to head into the building. Using a new clinging technology he is able to climb up the smooth sides of the building, making his way to an outward vent shaft opening.
The grate on the vent crumbles like butter in Neil's metal grasp, tossing it behind him and it falls with a splash into the swampy muck below. The vent was industrial sized, making it large enough for Neil to fit inside. It takes him a moment to even out his weight so he doesn't make a bunch of noise. A couple of times he had to stop moving to let Bomirian security by without making any noise as well.
The small maze of ventilation did lead Neil to his objective. And Cree sounds up on his silent communicator. “This is odd. That one reading is still in there. Be careful Neil.”
“Don't worry. I got this.” Neil removes the ceiling grate slowly. Bringing it upward instead of dropping it down as he slowly lowers himself down. Without a rope to help him with that, he drops down making a noisy bang on his landing. And immediately pointing his pistol towards this other figure who stands behind screens that are showing a progress bar titled “File copy progress.”
This other figure wore an outfit different from the scientists and security. It was mainly red. A blondish white ponytail hung below a dark sharpshooter's cap. His outfit from seeing it from behind, was a long red jacket, in which its tailcoat bore a golden emblem of a raven.
Neil sounds out to the target.
“Stop right there.”
The figure ignores him for a second. The progress bar on the screen slowly going up as the figure turned his head to somewhat look towards Neil. “Why stop now? I'm almost done.”
Neil gets this suspicion, he remembers that raven emblem and knows exactly where that came from. “Why would someone from Wayland House want this data?”
The other man chuckles. Quite loudly while turning around fully to look at Neil. His attire was somewhat proper, wearing what looked like a vest and tie. He wore two leather belts, each one with a gun holstered onto it. He had yet another gun holstered in a shoulder holster, and even from the distance that Neil was at, he could see that the gun on the man's shoulder was much larger than the ones holstered on his belts. The man's sleeves were short and he had fingerless gloves on his hands. “What can I say. I can't get rid of family. And they don't want this data. They don't even know about it.” The man would smirk at the robotic man, who just urges on the questions, still pointing his pistol with an itching trigger finger.
Soon the man takes off his hat and bows to the robot. Speaking in an accent that sounded a mix from New Jersey and British, but it was natural. “But let me not forget to introduce myself. My name is Torma Wayland. Sixth brother in the seventh generation of Wayland House.” He puts the hat back on. “Well. That would be my title if I did not get disowned when I went to do my own thing.”
Through Neil's communicator, Cree has already gotten some info on Torma. And is telling it to Neil. “Torma Wayland. Wanted on four of six worlds. Went rouge from his family at the age of twenty-five. Is now a mercenary for hire. Neil, this guy is bad news. He's only in our system because we've dealt with him before. In other words, he's killed at least five others that are just as skilled as you are. Proceed with extreme caution. Being from Wayland House, he has countermeasures to your exo.”
Neil returns with a retaliation. “Well it seems I'll get two for the price of one. I'll get this data and bring in one of Grandia's most wanted.”
Torma turns back to the computer for a second. “Most wanted. Sir I am utterly flattered that I have the chance to be public enemy number one” The progress bar completes and he ejects a data chip. Turning back to Neil and showing it to him. “But right now. You're too late. I have the data for a more, business purpose.” Torma unholsters his large pistol, pointing it at the computer and firing a couple of rounds, destroying the computer. “Woops, and now it looks like I'm now the only one with a copy of the data.”
Outside the room, in the main security office, guards are immediately alerted by the gun's sound and the abrupt shutdown of a technology department computer. A few orders are shouted and a small squad of armed guards starts running toward the room where Torma and Neil are at. These blips on the radar cause Cree to warn Neil.
“Neil. That alerted security. Multiple armed hostiles are heading to your location now. You need to get out soon.”
Neil's eyes show the shock of Torma destroying the computer. “Then hand it over and we can all go away happy.”
Torma then points his large pistol at Neil, standing at a sideways sharpshooter stance. “Sorry, unless I get what I want from this. Which is a lot of money. I won't be happy. This data for a remote teleportal design will sell nicely.”
“I said I am NOT leaving without that data. And I will pry it from your hands if I have to.” Neil gets to resting his finger on the trigger.
“Is that a challenge soldier boy? I will make my leave. But it looks like I won't be until I show you why you Tarnkan types shouldn't mess with me. But first. We should get a little privacy.” And just after those words, the revolving chamber on Torma's gun lights up in strange symbols as a ring of those same symbols appear around his gun. And Neil has figured out the countermeasures Cree was talking about.
“Sorcery?! With a gun?! How is that possible? Wait....” His HUD scans Torma's gun. Scans showing normal parts and major parts made of a different metal. A metal that the Wayland family uses to forge all magi focuses for their family. “Runic Carbonite?! That's how you're able to do that!”
Neil had done those scans as Torma points his gun at one of the doors to the room. These were the automatic sliding doors. Equipped with bulletproof glass on them. Torma aims and lets out a word. “Cetro!” He fires his gun, and what fires looks like little bolts of electricity that fly at high speed. Hitting the control panels of the doors with such high impact they break and are short circuited. Torma does this to the other door as well. This causes the locking mechanisms on the doors to close and stay that way with now no way to open them from the outside. Torma chuckles again walking toward the doors as the guards just get there. The guards angered on the other side, and Torma just waves. Looking back to Neil. “There we are. Nice and quiet.”
“Good. Now I can get loud.” Neil already begins to fire his pistol at Torma, who uses quick reaction to run to the side behind a nearby pillar. This room was huge, it needed three pillars to support it. The rest of the room was filled with worktables and desks. Tactical combat is what gets Neil to duck behind the pillar next to him. Engaging his tactical HUD with the recording for Cree on a seperate screen. Who still calls out to him.
“Neil. Please. The data might be gone. He has the means to destroy you. Evac and extract already.”
“Sorry Cree. This guy is going to be a problem if I don't take care of him Now.”
On the other side of the room. Torma sees a bullet hole in the tailcoat of his jacket. Just missing the raven emblem. He then pulls out his holstered guns from his belts. One was a revolver with powerful bullets. And the other a lower calibur and quick loading pistol.
“You know that's rude to shoot a man in the back.” He stands up. A small clicking of his guns priming could be heard. “They say shooting a man in his back removes all pride and courage he had before he hits the ground. I'm not going to let that happen to me, metal man.”
Neil speaks before peeking out from his cover. “Sorry if I'm not the polite type. I have my orders.” A chunk of the edge of the pillar disappears making Neil draw back in cover quickly, as Torma fired a near perfectly accurate shot and hit the pillar. Torma then says, “Then it looks nigh to fix our differences here. The only good soldier....is a dead one.”
Neil swerves out of cover, pulling out his automatic rifle. And fires some rounds swerving Torma's pillar. The two diving to cover across from each other behind a couple of worktables. Torma pulls out his large revolver again. And manually spins the revolving chamber.
“I don't see this going anywhere fast. So I'm going to make it such.”
“Then be an honest man Wayland!”
Neil raises from his cover at about the same time as Torma. The revolving chamber of Torma's revolver having a glowing ring around it, and as even calls the word “Firon”
They both fire at the same time. Both guns causing a bang so loud it can be heard throughout the complex. Torma's gun shoots a large burst of fire that flies like a rocket at Neil, aimed square in the chest. Neil's pistol fires a large calibur shell, aimed at Torma's leg.
Torma's shot explodes on contact with Neil. Creating a small explosion that sends him and a couple of desks flying backward. Cree's screens blaring with alarms of significant damage to Neil's systems. “Left side gyro failing. Agile system hydraulics dropping. Neil, get out of there! You cannot fight this guy right now!”
Neil's shot pierces Torma's leg. Dropping the gun mage to a knee and crippling him. “Damn. You actually hit me. I don't like that.” Neil is against the opposite wall. Unable to move as a couple of limb gyros have failed. The endoskeleton twitching as he tries to move it. Cree going to town on the keyboard. “Damn damn damn damn. Hold on Neil. I won't let some bounty hunter take you down. Initiating emergency repair nanos.” After these commands, the innerworks of Neil's exo releases a small swarm of nanobots to repair the damage that is making him immobile. Allowing him to slowly stand. But Torma aims his two smaller guns at him. “Oi! I hate cheating nanobots. Alright you clunk!” Torma brings up only the small revolver, standing slowly himself. He can't move so well with a hole in his leg. So he takes aim.
Neil gets to standing, his exo still twitching slightly with evidence of his innerworkings malfunctioning. Torma takes aim putting his hand behind the hammer of his small revolver.
“Sorry junkhead. I'm going to have to put you down. You might be an issue for me later. You put up a nice fight thought. I'll give ya that much.”
Neil holds up his weapon once more, shakingly. “A fight that I can keep going through. This soldier isn't going down that easy.”
Cree begins to yell at him. “Neil. Haven't you been fucking listening?! You can't win this fight right now!!” Neil doesn't respond to Cree at all right now. Being too focused on the action ahead. Cree begins to have a slight panic attack. Activating those nanobots was the most she could do right now.
Torma's face twinges as he gets a little angered. Growling in his stance. “Then let me show you how easy it is. Be lucky if you make it out of here alive.”
At this time. The security on the outside is trying to find a way to bypass the damage Torma caused to the doors to get them open. It will take a long time and for scientists they are too stupid to go around to the other corridor.
Torma focuses for a moment. Then with quick motions using his hand on the hammer of his revolver. Unloading the revolver onto Neil, and dealing serious impacting damage to Neil's arms, legs, the center of his chest, and his face where his mouth would be. The damage of this causes his systems to lock up again and prevents Neil from being able to speak now.
Cree can only watch as her screens show more malfunctions and system failures. And the disconnect from his vocals. She starts to try and think. Working on the keyboards in front of her trying to look for a different solution.
Torma stands overlooking Neil. “Now. It seems you won't be any problem to me now. So if you excuse me. I'll be on my way. Don't wait up.” Torma readjusts his apparel. And with a slight limp he heads to the center of the room. And uses a grappling hook to raise himself to the vent that Neil entered from. And the security of Bomire still working on the doors. Unable to find anything that can bridge the connection, they go to call a technician to figure out what he can do.
Back at Tarnk headquarters, Cree is messing around with settings and console commands. Inputting something to make the Nanos spread around and repair Neil's body widespread now. Putting more focus on the limbs of his exo, which has sustained quite a bit of damage that will take a bit of repair at base. “Come on come on. Neil. If you can hear me. I won't be able to get your vocals going from here. The field repair will get you up and moving. And hopefully not a moment too soon..”
It takes a bit, but the nanos do their work. Neil gaining control of the limbs once more. He rolls over so that he can stand up much easier. Having to move slowly, a strong headache coming on as pain ensues. Lighting up Cree's screens again. “Holy crap. Neil. You need to stay calm. Focus on something. This is not good for your brain.”
Neil holds his head, waiting for the pain to stop. He actually thinks of Cree and his old crew, and soon the headache calms down. He looks around. Unable to talk to Cree makes him go to instinctual investigation while he has time. His exo is moving slow and clunky as the nanos do their work, he walks around. Some items did survive the fire fight, but mainly it was one console with about four screens connected to it.
Walking up to this console it showed live feeds from somewhere in the facility. A dome structure with four sealed doors. The structure had plant life inside. It seems that there is nothing out of the ordinary. But as Neil was about to look away, on the screen a large flower back centered in the room seems to open on its own. And Neil gets shocked to see that inside of this flower looks like a body of a woman. This is a susceptible amount of data. He lets his HUD camera record this. And even Cree can see it. She is at a loss for words, but remembers that Neil needs to get out of there. She looks upon the map. “Alright metalhead. Time to toughen up. There are guys at each entrance to that room. And according to the readings I'm getting. They're going to open up the middle one in a moment. You're too damaged to go through that vent again. Looks like its time to fight your way out. Gunho buddy. Just like that cargo raid.”
Neil complies. Having ready his assault rifle. By the time they get the door open Neil is semi repaired as he barges through the door as it opens. Firing upon the security, killing two and wounding one as he starts running towards his escape. Cree leads him using the blueprints as he makes his leave from the building that had been set to high alert, beating the front door as it closes. This mission was a failure. But Neil did get away with some useful info.
A good distance away. At the small Bomirian community of Rustial, a small slightly slummy northern community at the mercy of The Facility. Torma is huddled down in a small bunker. This was one of his safehouses where he goes to heal himself up. “Blasted robots. The damn metalhead managed to target me. Hmmm. Maybe he's not a whole robot. Interesting.” He holds up the chip with the data in front of him. After gawking at his prize again, he returns to finish closing up his leg wound. And is actually curious if he'll run into Neil again later down the road.

Earth’s Mightiest Retrospective Ep 50: “Operation Galactic Storm”
Tumblr media
(Directed by Boyd Kirkland, Written by Christopher Yost, Original Airdate: October 21, 2012)
“Operation Galactic Storm” begins a two-parter that brings closure to one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes longest on-going threads, dating back into season one, the Kree Empire and their interest in colonizing Earth. It starts when the Kree intercept SWORD agents investigating nearby the sun due to some strange energy patterns. The Kree warp in and hijack the SWORD vessel while setting a few ships in a pattern near the sun. Abigail Brand shows a message detailing what happened to the SWORD agents to the Avengers. They go interrogate a prisoner who might know what the Kree are after, for Kree Science Captain Mar-Vell.
He tells them why so many alien races have been interested in the Earth throughout the series. Energy around the planet makes establishing stable wormholes for instantaneous space travel easy, while even their most advance ships can take a while to travel across galaxies. The Avengers are warned that the ships near the sun will establish the first portal to help the Kree further expand their empire. It’s also going to damage the sun once it activates. That news rings familiar for the Avengers as they recall the warning Kang gave them in his first appearance that the sun would be damaged in a conflict with the Kree and leave Earth uninhabitable in the future. Mar-Vell says the Kree are likely using that location knowing what will happen as retaliation for the multiple humiliating defeats Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have dealt them in the past. He offers to alter the Quinjet so it can get them to the sun more efficiently by using the same subspace technology the Kree use to space travel and help the Avengers save their planet.
As they’re preparing to leave, they get attack by a Kree stealth-ops team that arrives to keep them from going into space. After some fighting and struggling to see the alien stealth-operatives, Yellowjacket decides to stay behind to keep them busy as the rest of the team and Mar-Vell go to the sun. When they get there and decide to engage the Kree out in space, we get to see the return of the Avengers red and white space uniforms with new ones for Ms. Marvel and Black Panther. The team splits up between rescuing the SWORD agents on their damaged ship and hijacking the other Kree warship to stop the aliens from activating their portal to destroy the sun.
The SWORD ship only has two beings on board, one is SWORD agent Peter Corbeau, who helped the rest of his squad evacuate before the Kree attacked, and the other is a Kree Sentry robot. Meanwhile, the Avengers fighting in space struggle to break through the warship’s force field. They throw everything they have at it, but even Vision can’t phase through it. Mar-Vell and Iron Man figure out they can bust a hole in the shields if they can match its frequency and accomplish it. When they take control of the bridge of the ship, the commanding Kree officer on board tells them they’re already too late to stop the portal from opening. The Avengers realize they’ll need to go inside the portal to destroy its source and keep it from damaging the sun and life on Earth with it.
It’s a move that will require sacrifice from all parties involved. Black Panther needs to stay on the Kree ship to direct the Quinjet through the portal while the rest of the team, Mar-Vell, and Corbeau go inside to destroy the machines projecting it, which will leave them stuck on the other side of the galaxy in hostile Kree territory. Captain America almost refuses to let Black Panther sacrifice himself, but the others remind him of Kang’s warnings. The only way to save the sun and keep that future from coming to pass is to let the fellow Avenger die as he thanks the team for letting him fight by their side. It’s a well-done speech and the sacrifice is given appropriate weight before the Avengers go through the portal and finish their part of the mission. The episode closes on the heroes knowing they were able to save the world again, but unable to enjoy it before realizing they’ve ended up directly in front of a Kree armada.
While all the space action was going on, Yellowjacket and Abigail Brand defended Hydro-Base from the Kree stealth-ops. The Kree’s attack on the facility has several phases, including reuniting Ronan the Accuser with his weapon before freeing him and setting a bomb that will blow up the facility and half of New York with it. This part of the episode serves as another showcase for Hank Pym’s impulsive attitude that’s come along with the Yellowjacket identity and costume. Before he can prevent the Kree from freeing Ronan, Brand calls on him to deal with the bomb the aliens planted on the base and the Kree teleport away with Ronan (Spoilers: this thread goes nowhere next episode and gets left hanging due to the series cancellation.) Yellowjacket gets a fantastic moment where he admits he doesn’t know how to stop the Kree’s bomb from counting down. Brand yells at him for his uselessness before he blasts the device with his shrink ray, reducing it in size until it can’t hurt anything aside from a few molecules. Abigail punches him for good measure for putting her under the stress of thinking they were about to let half a city get blown up.
This episode makes a good first half for the conclusion of the drama with Kree this season. Mar-Vell begins his path towards redemption for selling out the Earth to his people back in “Welcome to the Kree Empire.” The logic behind the necessity of T’Challa’s sacrifice is a little loose and kind of underwhelming considering the direness of Kang’s warnings about what would cause the sun to be damaged, but the vocal performances and visuals sell the moment despite that. Now we’re running down the clock on Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes with only two episodes left.
Next time, the Avengers meet the mind behind the Kree Empire.

BnHA Chapter 014: Chapter 13 Died for This
But it’s okay. We’ve put all of that behind us now.
Previously on BnHA: RESCUE TRAINING VILLAIN INVASION
Today on BnHA: Aizawa is a fucking badass. Class 1-A gets ambushed and split up into convenient little two-and-three-person groups perfect for having a bunch of quick minifights that’ll give some of the less prominent characters a chance to briefly shine. Deku and Tsuyu wind up on a boat surrounded by a bunch of angry fishpeople. Basically a lot of setup, but exciting setup.
(As always, all comments not marked with an ETA are my unspoiled reactions from my first readthrough of this chapter. I’ve read up through chapter 19 now, so any ETAs will reflect that.)
fyi it’s the middle of the a.m. and I’m supposed to be sleeping. but fuck it
(ETA: in hindsight I really should have just gone to sleep lmao)
would be nice to see these color spreads in color. I’m sure I can find them somewhere but I’m too lazy
“Encounter with the Unknown” well that’s accurate, I guess
Tumblr media
did these guys just wake up one day and think “I’m gonna go full evil”, or was it a gradual process? most shounen series I’ve read feature villains who are evil but also eventually redeemable. but somehow I can’t picture that happening with these guys
also I suppose that waking up one day when you’re only three or four years old, only to find that your skull has vanished, leaving your brain exposed, and that you’ve suddenly grown a fucking dinosaur beak with razor-sharp teeth, might fuck someone up enough to start ‘em down that villainous path. I GUESS
(ETA: apparently for my example I accidentally picked the one guy that supposedly was created expressly FOR the purposes of being evil)
these gung-ho superhero wannabe teens are not taking this situation nearly seriously enough IMO
Tumblr media
sigh
also where are they watching from? how did they get to such a distant vantage point so quickly?
Tumblr media
I hope the anime version of this clears that up
ohhhh hold up, I’m just now realizing that because the panels placed Aizawa and the villains so close to one another when the portal first appeared, I assumed that’s how close they actually WERE, but in reality Aizawa was watching from a distance the whole time I think
spatial awareness, I lack it
seems like communications have been cut off
they tell Kaminari (remember that name remember that name...) to try to signal for help with his quirk! I guess his lightning/electricity quirk gives him the ability to do that somehow. cool beans
Deku is concerned because Aizawa won’t be able to take them all on at once. but Thirteen is right there though. his their quirk is pretty OP
(ETA: I have been advised that Thirteen’s gender is actually supposed to be ambiguous and Viz just took it upon themselves to label them as a “he” because it wouldn’t be Viz if they weren’t ruining things entirely unnecessarily. so from this point forward I will be changing any “he/hims” to “they/them” when referring to Thirteen.)
OH MY DAMN AIZAWA’S GOT SOME SHIT UP HIS SLEEVE
Tumblr media
YESSS he’s not even asking Thirteen to help. he seems REALLY confident that he’s got this. what are you up to you badass fucking ninja
(ETA: apparently he is a badass self-sacrificing fucking ninja about to get way in over his head!! not gonna lie I love him all the more for it)
now he’s making a heroic leap down to the villain group
some redshirt villains are wondering who he is, even though the other villains addressed him by name only moments earlier. I don’t know who is in which fucking group, because you’d think they would have heard that, but apparently not
Tumblr media
ooohh these motherfuckers bout to die and I can’t wait
SURPRISE BITCH YOUR QUIRKS DON’T WORK AND NOW YOU’RE BEING K.O.’D
Tumblr media
“YOU DUMBASSES THAT’S ERASER HEAD” YESSSS SAY HIS NAME AND LET THAT FEAR ECHO DEEP WITHIN THE PIT OF YOUR SOULS YOU TRASH MOTHERFUCKERS
this one guy made out of rocks expresses doubt that Eraser Head’s quirk will work on him. wow you’re just asking for it aren’t you dude
Tumblr media
doesn’t seem to slow him down though
oh my god he’s ducking and weaving so beautifully and effectively. apparently he’s really good at hand-to-hand combat. and they don’t know whose quirk he’s canceling because of the goggles. it’s surprising how good he really is at handling a group
Tumblr media
I take it he doesn’t consider himself an ordinary villain, then :/
Deku is supposed to be evacuating but he’s just watching EH kick ass
the fact that we’ve cut back to Deku suggests that something bad is about to happen, though 8|!
um
Tumblr media
uh
Tumblr media
yeah I’d say so, yeah
motherfucker these guys got a fucking league
Tumblr media
I was gonna make a joke about how this eloquent guy clearly went to an elite fancy villain high school. but then I thought again that there might really actually be a villain school. so, uh
Tumblr media
yeah that’s right Deku, they’re after your dad
this guy doesn’t seem to know that All Might’s currently chilling in the break room, so that’s good? less good is that he doesn’t seem too worried about him not being there
AHHHH MOMOTOPS AND BAKUGOU ARE RUSHING HIM ALL OF A SUDDEN
WHAT THE FUCK DOES A GUY WITH THE POWER OF HARDENING THINK HE’S GOING TO DO AGAINST A GUY MADE OUT OF EVIL VAPOR
AND BAKUGOU’S NOT MUCH BETTER OFF
Tumblr media
HOW FUCKING STUPID ARE YOU TWO BRICKS
“that was close” you don’t have to lie, Dr. Neck
(ETA: oh my god I can’t believe this of all things got a fucking callback. that’ll show me to ever assuming anything at all about this fucking series.)
Thirteen’s just standing there holding an arm out and saying “no, get back!”
fucking useless. you were supposed to be cool, Thirteen
Tumblr media
I SWEAR TO GOD THIS SHADOWY MOTHERFUCKER BETTER NOT EAT MY SON
“WRITHE IN TORMENT” OH JESUS
so now this black mist is swirling around fucking EVERYONE
Tumblr media
EVERYONE
and then it fades...
and now Deku is... falling? into the flood zone?
ohhh so he did the portal/teleportation thing again. that seems to be his ability, then
so I guess he split them all up. which makes sense; when you have this many characters, you need to split them into smaller groups so as to be more manageable. but they’re also going to still need other characters to interact with, so I wonder who Deku’s going to be paired up with then?
I really need either him or Bakugou to be paired with Todoroki
uh oh Deku’s not even out of the water yet and he’s already run into another villain
Tumblr media
this man is literally a meme. I wonder if he’s aware
-- AYYYYYYY
Tumblr media
MY GIRL TSUYU WITH THE DYNAMITE SAVE
aaaand she’s wrapping her tongue around Izuku
and pulling him to safety!
how is she talking with her tongue wrapped around a guy. HOW DO THESE CHARACTERS ALWAYS FUCKING DO THAT
they surface! and for some reason there is a boat!
oh she also rescued Mineta!
and
Tumblr media
I see. I see. this is why I was warned about him
anyway!
Tumblr media
WHATEVER A FROG CAN DO!!! OF COURSE!!!!
Izu is thinking furiously and has Resting Hero Face and it really suits him
Tumblr media
this kid doesn’t miss a trick
Mineta points out that there’s no way they could ever possibly beat All Might! but even Tsuyu, who doesn’t actually know that All Might has a weakness, nonetheless realizes that the villains must have found one if they went through all this trouble just to get to him
I shouldn’t keep being surprised by how smart and talented all of these kids are. they managed to get accepted into this school, and so far they’ve lived up to that elite reputation. and yet, I consistently am surprised, and pleasantly so
Tumblr media
well, I was trying not to be biased either toward or against him, but so far he’s not making a very good impression this chapter
oh shit the fish guy is back and now there’s somehow like a dozen of him??
Tumblr media
WHERE DID THEY ALL COME FROM
meanwhile Deku is more clueless than I expected
Tumblr media
you literally know the way to beat All Might, though?? he’s losing his powers and he’s secretly very weak without them?? you know this???
Tumblr media
would “revenge” not be a good enough motive even without all the rest? I guess I’ll shut up and see where he’s going with this
there’s a whole page of Deku thinking about how much he loves All Might
I wonder if maybe he literally can’t understand why someone would want to kill him
that’s very sweet actually
meanwhile Todoroki is off somewhere kicking ass and taking names
Tumblr media
easy there A Song of Ice and Fire
and it looks like Bakugou is stuck with... ... ...I still can’t remember his name. Momotops it is and continues to be
the actual Momo is paired up with Lightning McQueen and the extendable ears girl! and her quirk looks to have something to do with making weapons appear out of her limbs or some shit. fucking sweet
also that means it makes logical sense for her to have as much of her limbs exposed as possible, and to be honest I’m glad there’s actually a logical reason for her to have the skimpy costume then
and shit, Iida, Homestuck, Too Many Arms and Ochako are still facing off with Dr. Neck
Dr. Neck’s neck hasn’t really been prominently featured since his appearance at the end of chapter 11, but I’m in this too deep to back out now
Aizawa is still being epic, but he needs to wrap this up now cuz the kiddos are in danger!
or at least, in theory they are
Tumblr media
well. this is shounen, after all
BONUS:
Tumblr media
Tsuyu is so flipping cute. I didn’t expect to have that opinion when she was first introduced but here we are
I’m really glad he made her a girl

OPEN | PRIVATE SCI-FI/SUPERHERO ROLEPLAY
[ THE PLOT ]
This RP can be set in a modern or futuristic universe, depending on what we decide. The general plot is open, but the world itself would center around a team of teenagers with special powers or abilities, traveling through space to defend the galaxy against those who mean to cause it harm.
[ MY CHARACTERS ]
Tayara Al-Safir | An alien from a distant planet known as Espar, Tayara, also known as White Knight, was chosen as the keeper of the Soul Sword. This sword, a glowing white blade, can be summoned anywhere, at any time, but can only be called upon and wielded by her. Tayara also has the power to open portals into different dimensions or to different locations, but the range of these portals can be limited. Tayara is outgoing, humorous, and fiercely protective and loyal. She has a good heart and a strong sense of justice.
Kyle Warner | A boy from Earth, Kyle has no powers, but his abilities lie in his brain. Impossibly smart, he works with computers and technology to hack his way into anything, create programs, and develop high-tech weapons to use in the field. He is very kind and funny, but also can be awkward and geeky, often making pop-culture references. He uses humor frequently to compensate for insecurity.
Calliope Castilla | Calliope is from a planet called Ataria. She was born with the power to control and generate fire, as well as having an immunity to fire in general. She is somewhat quiet and shy, but she is also very sweet and always looks out for her friends. However, she can also be a pushover.
Jackson Hart | Born and raised on Earth, Jackson has the power to control and generate electricity as well as use it to teleport short distances. He is also known as Voltage and often uses arrows charged with his power against his opponents. Jackson can at first come off as rude, snarky, and standoffish, with his sarcastic and dry sense of humor and closed-off nature, but eventually, he becomes a very dedicated and loyal friend.
Aaliyah Nadiqqi | Aaliyah is also from Earth. She has the power of superspeed, allowing her to run at inhuman speeds, with the possibility of running fast enough to travel through time or between dimensions. Aaliyah is very sarcastic and flirty, often teasing her friends and acting cocky or self-assured. She is also extremely hot-headed and stubborn, and will never back down from a challenge.
Max Varien | Max, like Tayara and Calliope, is also an alien. He has the power to manipulate plant life, and can make them grow almost anywhere. Max is a very bright, lighthearted person, who loves making people smile and always tries to see the best in people and situations. He genuinely wants to help everyone that he can.
. I'll send ages and faceclaims privately, and more characters might be added further on in the roleplay.
[ THE REQUIREMENTS ]
. I would definitely prefer it if you used at least 3 or more characters.
. 3rd person please!
. My roleplaying style is fairly descriptive; several lines to a few paragraphs depending on the situation. I'd like you to use at least a few lines as opposed to just one, and proper grammar/spelling is a definite need!
. No NSFW stuff! (Which means that anything sexual is a _no thank you_ )
. I tend to include some darker themes (abuse, possibly graphic violence, cursing), but nothing above the PG-13 rating. Let me know if you have any triggers or something bothers you!
. No godmodding/OP characters/Mary or Gary Sues. If there's a problem with that (or anything else), I'd like us to be able to discuss it and work it out!
[ ABOUT ME ]
I'm fifteen, and I've been roleplaying for over three years and writing for longer, so I have a lot of experience. With school starting soon, my schedule might be a little shifty for a while, but I can usually RP for at least a while in the evening and get a few replies in. I'll do my best to stay active, but feel free to send me a message if I'm not on for a while! I prefer to use hangouts to RP, but if you would like, you can also message me here.
If you want to get an idea of my style and how I roleplay, I can write you a brief paragraph or more of text on request!
Send me a message or reblog if you’re interested!

S04E04: The DM may regret giving the gang access to a time machine
The gang comes up with a plan to solve their time travel problems. Um learns about voice mail and read receipts. Averlyth violates the Hippocratic Oath. Everyone pretends they don’t know Kanye.
TL;DR: The Strategist wants the station to explode. The Spy wants the gang to steal the plans. The Director offers to make the gang stars. The Security Chief wants them to suffer. The Doctor wants them to stop the broadcast. The Professor wants them to remove the Director. The Chief Engineer wants them to keep the station from exploding. The Mad Scientist wants to keep doing “science.”
Background
We got materials from Splash Gordon after turning in the quest, even though he was worried by the news that the spaceship might blow up, and then we got the computer said we had an incoming call from the director.
Session
The group spends a long time deciding whether or not to pick up.
Mizz Computer: "You have one voice mail!"
Um: "What is a voice mail?"
The director respects our power play and says he wants to work with us, we have star power! All we have to do call him back or let the security guards coming to arrest us pick us up.
We consider going to the medical bay, but before we head out decide to talk to Splash Gordon about our options. He suggests we go to research, meet the head of Team Ethics, Professor Doctor Jefferson Von Pantaloons The III. However, he warns us against showing up announced (given they have been touchy since the last raid by Team Ratings, which incidentally was the raid that summoned us through the portal).
Carlos asks Mizz Computer to send an email to notify him or her of our intent to approach and ask if that's okay. Mizz computer says we don't have permission to see his read receipts though.
The group books it to the elevator, then dive into a nook when we hear the elevator door chime opens – camera drones and security guards run by us, and then we sneak into the door. One sees us right as the door closes (haha sucker).
[Insert elevator music]
We arrive in the medical bay. The door opens and there are 5 security guards with lazer rifles pointed at us. The guys are intimidating, but some of their gear looks like it was created in the research department (3D printed gear??)
Guard: "What's your business?"
Carlos: "Hey turds"
Guard cocks a lazer gun (????)
Averlyth: "We're here to see the Professor"
Guard: "Is he expecting you?"
Carlos: "yeah we sent him an email"
Guard: "... Steve go check it out"
A guard goes to check it out, then returns saying the Professor is deciding what to do about it. Carlos makes a quick fruit pipe and hands it to one of the guards who thanks him in confusion and puts it in his pocket awkwardly.
The group is ushered in, past a reception area and then an obviously overwhelmed medical facility. There are people of all different uniform colors here, mostly green from Team Ethics, but some red Team Ratings and some tan neutral Ops.
As we're sitting here watching the scene, we see a person that appears to be the chief doctor triage patients, make decisions, walk around all stressed. Averlyth makes a beeline for patients that are in critical danger and stabilize everyone she sees (prioritizing the green people, doing the bare minimum for those in red). Nissa hands Averlyth bandages and singing as she's going, helping to keep people calm. Carlos is making apple pipes for patients. After some point, Doctor Gilthoniel Pop'n'lock (according to her nametag) is looking at Averlyth. She's cautious, but eventually relaxes and walks over.
Doctor Pop'n'lock questions Averlyth's background, motives, and then eventually asks Mizz Computer who these people are (Mizz Computer happily reveals our background as gladiators). She isn't mad, thinks for a second, then gestures the group to follow her. Everyone in the room defers to her and lets us by, and then we're taken to a room with her name on it. There aren't enough chairs for everyone.
Carlos takes a chair, Mart awkwardly stands next to the Doctor.
She laments the state of the station and asks us for help – she tells us she has an idea for how to stop "this whole stupid thing", points out that both groups are really fighting over the broadcast equipment, not morals. If the equipment is destroyed, there is no war.
The group debates what to do about it, then gets interrupted by a security guard that says the Professor is ready to see us. Doctor Pop'n'lock pretends none of that conversation happened. We follow the guard through a boring maze of a university hallway and eventually get taken to a large office with a plaque mounted on the wall. The label, "Director of Research and Development: Gidget" is covered a printout reading "Director of Transdimensional Ethics: Professor Jefferson The Third".
In the room, we see a bathroom-turned-prison with a twitchy lavender-haired mad scientist and then the biggest man with the biggest broadsword on his back who invites us to sit down. Um awkwardly stands in the corner.
The Professor Doctor tells us about how the station was originally a scientific research facility, but eventually was sold to the History channel. When Professor Gidget discovered the Time Portal, they were instructed to dedicate all research to it - but then it was disocvered that Gidget had... questionable morals, and there are troubling implications on the timelines as a result of her experiments. Professor Doctor and the team attempted to perform a strike and prevent the violations from continuing, have resulted in violence regrettably.
We find out immediately that the Professor Doctor is anti-portal-destruction. Kanya initiates a sudden group huddle, we quickly discuss some stuff, and then unhuddle. The Professor establishes his motivation is to send people back to their timelines and shut down gladiatorial combat altogether. He wants to make safe and quarantined documentaries (sending cloaked camera drones back, etc).
He proposes that the removal of the director (who has clout with Corporate) will be enough. Nissa questions if another director will just be sent - the Professor Doctor admits it's a possibility, but thinks it will be fine if the station is united, and that this particular director only rose to power to begin with because Corporate wasn't happy with the ratings and the director made high promises. He claims that he is not advocating we kill the guy, but not against any method of removal.
We brainstorm. We consider highjacking the broadcast, making our own show; we debate the usefulness of shutting down the broadcast, hijacking broadcasting equipment. Kanye requests a power armor, all in yellow and mech-style with a spinny light above his head. The Professor Doctor says this is not available, but after prompting says they could 3D print the spinny light despite it's seeming uselessness.
Um asks if the portal can allow someone to teleport to a different space within the same time – The Professor Doctor says "Yes, time travel is space travel!".
Um: "Can you teleport us to the Director?"
pause
Kanye: "While he's on the toilet???"
[This is established as an un-fun game mechanic so we are not doing this]
Carlos requests a meeting room to discuss. Averlyth specifies it must have a whiteboard. The guards escort us to the room to talk over our motivations.
Farfetched idea one: we are considering proving we didn't burn down mulmaster and then blowing up the space ship.
Farfetched idea two: we are considering time traveling back with camera drones to before mulmaster was burned down and saving Mulmaster, thereby actually becoming the volunteer fire department. Could even save Burnie Cinders in the process.
Combined plan: We will pitch to the Professor that we want to go back in time and document what happened at Mulmaster to clear our name.
Before we're able to finalize the plan, we have an incoming call from Professor Gidget. She's somehow managed to get access to a computer and very ecstatically tells us about the papers she's written that can't be submitted, the developments she's discovered – I think Um hung up on her but she redialed – and then she promises she can send us to literally anywhere other than where we came from (since we know about our terrible deaths and futures) if we help give her access to her portal again to finish her experiments. We end the call and decide the new quest doesn't conflict with the plan we were landing on, so we'll worry about it later.
[The group spends 15 minutes deciding a clever chief engineer's name]
We go back to the Professor. Carlos tries to call him Prof Doc, the Professor looks at him blankly and then puts his sword back on. Carlos pitches the idea for a pilot episode - show what actually happened at the Mulmaster County Burning. The Prof Doc is not against it, but mentions that Team Ethics is currently not able to film and broadcast the episode with the way the war is going.
We are told that the control for the camera drones and broadcasting information are all in the broadcasting room. Professor Doctor addresses us at his standing desk, tells us that we need access to the skilled technicians in the broadcasting room, not just the equipment. He expects they are motivated to just obey the ones giving them the paycheck, should help Team Ethics once the director is gone.
Kanye goes behind the desk and attempts to subtly grab the hilt of the Professor Doctor's sword in an attempt to grab it. As soon as he touches it, Kanye hears an indignant voice through the sword and the Prof Doc tells him to stop. The group sorta pretends they don't know Kanye.
Kanye goes for the sword again and the big man stops him in what seems to be a friendly pat, but is really a bone-crushingly firm grip on his shoulder, and requests that he does not separate him from his carrier. Kanye says the sword talks, Um has questions.
Professor Doctor, the sword, describes his backstory of being an intelligent weapon, how he got his doctorate as a sword, has had multiple carriers, etc. The group decides this hasn't changed anything about our desire for this pilot episode. We do establish that there is no way to go over the Director's authority, even if we could convince the skilled technicians to work with us.
We go back to the meeting room. The instant the door closes, the screen lights up and we see a protocol guide explaining the operations on the ship and how the station's AI works with the commander. A few sections are highlighted –first, the station's director outranks the station's commander for anything that affects ratings. The ship's AI must follow the direction of the highest ranking officer on the ship due to the limitation of the AI's command inhibitor. Carlos questions what a command inhibitor is – we are told it's a physical object on the command deck attached to the AI’s hardware.
The group revisits the idea for breaking the broadcasting antennae or holding it hostage to make Ratings put our show on, then suddenly we remember the station might blow up because of the coolant leak. So we decide, like good people, and to not die while we're planning our actions forward, we'll have half of the people go take the antennae hostage and half of the people fix the coolant leak. This also prevents the chief engineer from being pissed that we are destroying her spaceship with the suits she gave us to fix the leak to begin with.
DM: "So let me get this straight... your plan is for your entire group to go out into the darkness of space… and immediately split the party? …I love it."
[The group looks up Kanye's Wiki Page]
Early Life - Grew up rich
Kanye is the bastard son of a noble
Kanye rose to power by assassinating his own father and inheriting his network of assassins
Gang Membership - The gang's mascot
Kanye was the strong silent member
Mostly just stood behind Carlos a lot and looked scary. That's how he got the nickame, Big Scary Guy. (BSG)
Life after Gang - Went to prison
First of the gang members to be captured while harmlessly lurking in an alley outside of a bar for illegally selling produce
Was thrown into jail to be held for questioning for 24 hours
Tries to escape while incarcerated and broke both his legs
Historical Perspective - Kanye is widely believed to be an amalgamation of 2 other historical figures
One is a famous rapper-nobleman
One is a daredevil donkey
They found the shield, which has the scroll of pedigree
One word was scratched off and mistranslated as donkey
Depictions in Pop Culture - Movie Villain
Daytime Soap Opera – character reimagined as the uncle who kills his brother in order to impersonate him and inherit his family fortune
