Rosalind Fox Solomon, “The Forgotten” (1974 to 2019)
Rosalind Fox Solomon is reflecting on her sprawling, decades-long career. The American photographer has documented momentous events in our world’s social history, such as postwar Cambodia, apartheid in South Africa, and Northern Ireland during the Troubles. She has captured devastating natural disasters and unfathomable global poverty.
Mrs Fox Solomon began taking photographs in 1968, while living in the American South. Throughout her vast career, she has photographed people’s resilience; relationships with one another in both joy and pain. Her interest in culture and people underpins the images that we see today.

THE RMS TITANIC SINKS | 14 -15 April 1912
On April 10, the RMS Titanic, one of the largest and most luxurious ocean liners ever built, departed Southampton, England, on its maiden voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. The Titanic was designed by the Irish shipbuilder William Pirrie and built in Belfast, and was thought to be the world’s fastest ship. It spanned 883 feet from stern to bow, and its hull was divided into 16 compartments that were presumed to be watertight. Because four of these compartments could be flooded without causing a critical loss of buoyancy, the Titanic was considered unsinkable. While leaving port, the ship came within a couple of feet of the steamer New York but passed safely by, causing a general sigh of relief from the passengers massed on the Titanic‘s decks. On its first journey across the highly competitive Atlantic ferry route, the ship carried some 2,200 passengers and crew. After stopping at Cherbourg, France, and Queenstown, Ireland, to pick up some final passengers, the massive vessel set out at full speed for New York City.
However, just before midnight on April 14, the RMS Titanic failed to divert its course from an iceberg and ruptured at least five of its hull compartments. These compartments filled with water and pulled down the bow of the ship. Because the Titanic‘s compartments were not capped at the top, water from the ruptured compartments filled each succeeding compartment, causing the bow to sink and the stern to be raised up to an almost vertical position above the water. Then the Titanic broke in half, and, at about 2:20 a.m. on April 15, stern and bow sank to the ocean floor.

🔷Summary: You attend the ship of dreams, the Balerion in hope of finding your match to enrichen your family. But fate is cruel for those who dream. And the Balerion might not even reach the harbor of Valyria.
🔷Author's note: ''WILL THIS BE THE MOVIE REWRITTEN'' ASHSHSHDH I WISH! NO, its so not the movie. I was planning on naming the ship ''Titanic'' but I could not do that, it felt so icky. Big fan of the movie, big fan of books, the boat in general, and big nerd of it all. I went with a copy of the boat, and named it the Balerion. The route was original from Belfast to America i think but it will be from Crownlands to Valyria.

1912
The year 1912 started the way only a disaster year would. Your father, who had finally found gold and diamonds in a mine somewhere in Dorne, had been killed in a mysterious incident, leaving your mother widowed with you and two of your younger sisters.
But your family would not be your family if you had not survived into the cold and golden world of the rich for generations. And your mother was assured that you would continue the generation, by finding a rich match.
‘’Another boat,’’ You commented, putting your gigantic elegant hat straight on your head. ‘’I hope Mother tires of these useless vacations soon.’’ The boat looked like a monster that had just risen from the bottom of the sea. A steel death trap, filled with dozens of already cheering workers and middle-class citizens who had been dreaming of even touching the dirty decks of The Balerion.
‘’Don’t be negative, Y/N.’’ You rolled your eyes at your sister’s constantly annoying optimism. ‘’And besides, it’s a ship. The Balerion is known to be the ship of dreams.’’ You thought you would not survive being with your sister Maelyn that long. You would not see the Port of Valyria before you had thrown her overboard, into the cold icy waters. Or so you thought.
Your brain had no trouble seeing the negative, dark reality that all fools around you ignored. ‘’Why does it look like a nightmare, then?’’ You commented. ‘’It’s like a death trap. Once we are at sea, nothing will save us.’’
‘’Y/n!’’ Your mother hissed as you passed suitable gentlemen of your age. You briefly lingered to inspect the men. Some smiled back at you, some adjusted their ties. You huffed before walking back in pace with your mother, climbing the big stairs and finally, you walked the bridge that connected the big ship to the shore.
Your cabin had been styled in the latest true nobility fashion, with a double bed and your very own vanity, and fresh roses were put in every vase they could fit in your room. Your servants had already brought your luggage and your dresses were neatly hung into your wardrobe. You let yourself fall in the luxurious blush-colored armchair, comfortably resting your arms on the soft fabric.
It could very well be your last vacation as a rich noble lady, should you not find that match your mother seemed so eager for. You had always known you would marry for stability and riches, but back then it suddenly felt real. As if you have been eating good meals all your life, and someone just handed you the bill. You were not aware of the consequences.
Your second youngest sister, Dysera entered your rooms, looking at your cabin in clear envy and with balled fists. ‘’When will I get the pretty grant rooms?’’ She whined like a little spoiled brat.
You didn’t even look up from your gloved hands. Dy was often not worth the effort. Just a teenage spoiled brat looking for trouble. ‘’The moment you bring home a man. It is expected of me that I have the bigger cabin, as I am the heir and the eldest.’’ You tell her, your voice bored and yet very sharp.
Her envy only grew as you reminded her of this fact. ‘’You are only the heir because mother failed to give father a son. The only thing you attract is drama and toxic men. Good luck finding a match here, sweet sister. I think you’ll need it.’’ She turned to leave, but your voice called her back, hissing as a wildcat.
‘’What is that supposed to mean?’’ You demanded an answer from her. She turned around to face you, with a wicked grin.
‘’It means, that’s a point for me.’’
—-----
Your mother wasted no time throwing you at suitors, as she hired one of the many restaurants for your quick-sessions to meet the eligible men aboard. She had no regard for age. Or rather, no respect for yours. Men that were so old that they could have been there to witness the grace and beauty of the dinosaurs themselves.
One man was interesting, around your age. Jacaerys Velyaron. He was to inherit the Velyaron cruises from his grandfather, the very same man who designed the boat you were both dining at. Jacaerys or Jace as he preferred to be called, was a true gentleman in all aspects, having raised incredibly well in manners and grace. When the waiter tripped and spilled your meal over your gorgeous red wine dress, Jacaerys helped up the waiter first.
That was a little annoying. You are the lady. His concern should be with you. Not some waiter who can’t keep his tray straight. ‘’I must say, I had hoped your staff would have been better vetted.’’ You entrusted him with a half-meant coyish catlike smile. ‘’My dress is simply ruined. You must make it up to me, now.’’ You told him, filling his head with guilt, manipulation, and lies, folding your hands as you placed them under your chin, smiling seductively at a blushing dumbstruck Jace.
‘’I shall, Miss.’’ He promised you quickly. ‘’I shall. My apologies for your dress-’’ He might have been your best shot at marriage at the ship. The other men were old enough to wet themselves if you told them a funny joke about the likes of the lower class you have seen aboard this ship.
But when you returned from ‘’adjusting’’ your dress (slightly loosening your corset so that Jacaerys could see more of your wares) you were met with a horrible and utmost disappointing matter. Jace, your perfect victim, was with a harlot—a gold digger.
Someone beat you. Someone bested you. And someone just made the biggest mistake of their lives.
The girl laughed loudly at his jokes and you could tell she had him wrapped around his finger in ways you never could. ‘’Damn it.’’ You muttered, under your breath as you made your way over to him. You smiled sweetly at the girl. ‘’Sweetie, I think you got lost. The third class is actually below us.’’ You told her, waiting for Jace to laugh but the weasel kept quiet.
‘’The only one who is lost is you, Miss Waters.’’ She told you when she rose from her seat, perfecting her annoying gorgeous blue dress. ‘’You seem to have forgotten that your family is powerless and poor. No man will look at you.’’ You faked a smile.
‘’You would know what men like, don’t you, Lady Baela?’’ You would recognize her everywhere. Gorgeous girl with silver locks and beautiful blue gowns, that was Lady Baela. Your mother had warned you about her and her sister, who too, were hoping to find a good match. There were only so many good men aboard this…disaster and she scooped up the only good one that seemed somehow a bit decent.
Baela seemed very contemptuous with your hatred and dislike. ‘’You know my name. I am shocked that there was even enough space in that delightful little thing you call a brain.’’ That hurt, and you were close to ripping that diamond necklace off her neck right there and then. Jacaerys was the only reason you remained civil.
‘’At least I have one.’’ You bit back, your fists balling in an unladylike fashion as Jacaerys became uncomfortable. He made a gesture to the waiter who nodded. You watched in shock as he came to you, to Y/N Waters, heiress and rich heir. ‘’That must be why you are clearly trying to compensate with your jewels for what you lack inside your head.’’ You replied, smiling as Baela’s smug little smile died a miserable death.
The waiter who had ruined your dress earlier had the audacity to open his mouth to you. He spoke three words that would dig his, and Baela and Jace’s graves. ‘’Miss, please leave.’’ You scoffed, thinking he was joking at first. Perhaps that is something new under servants. But that was not the truth. He was serious about your removal.
So you became angry. ‘’Me? My mother hired this restaurant!’’ You yelled, in righteous anger. ‘’If any should leave, it’s her.’’
‘’For only an hour Miss.’’ The waiter told you and you were shocked at that. The thought that you were just a third-class passenger, was disgusting, disheartening, and unfair. You were more than that. Why didn’t those stupid people see that? Why didn’t anyone see your worth?
Baela snickered and Jace joined her. You felt your cheeks redden with shame before you left the restaurant, but before you left you made sure to accidentally bump into a very expensive vase, causing it to fall into a thousand little pieces. You smirked at Baela before bringing your hand to your mouth, faking a gasp, and heading off.
You sighed, groaning when you had left the mediocre restaurant, and looked for anyone or someone to help you find your way back to your cabin. The ship was like a maze to you. You would not be surprised if you opened one door that led straight to the ocean floor itself.
Hot tears full of anger ran down your face, as you angrily wiped them away with your satin gloves, as you noticed tiny holes in the fabric.
The lights briefly flickered, sent chills down your spine, and made you briefly clutch your locket. When the lights were turned on again, a man in an elegant black and white suit greeted you with a small elegant bow and a boyish smirk on his lips. ‘’Fancy a smoke?’’ He wondered, his voice betraying he was from the Crown lands.
You huffed, still insulted that your fish did not take your bait. ‘’Do I look like I smoke?’’ You are a lady, a woman of noble class. Smoking is for the gentleman and the homeless.
The man stepped into the light, and for the first time, you could take in his good remaining eye and his sapphire that covered where the other once used to be. ‘’You look bored and stressed. Any man would tell you to smoke.’’ You would enjoy a good cigarette, just blowing off some steam and forgetting the ugly world for a moment. You loved smoking, that was a truth, but your mother always disencourage you to do it in front of other men or anyone important.
He must think your worries could be solved by a simple smoke, he must think you were some lonely depressed rich girl in need of her daddy. The worst part is, you were just that. You needed and missed your daddy’s fortune, but most of all, you missed him. Your mother had barely made time to mourn him and soon you would be married into a loveless marriage, making you completely alone.
‘’You would be too if they sent hoards  of bored old men your way.’’ You replied, and usually, your icy cold exterior sends men running from you. Men don’t like women they can’t outsmart or control. Men don’t like well-read women. Men don’t like unknown or mysterious women. Men want to know what they purchase when they try to find a wife.
This one started to smile, however taking you completely by surprise. ‘’You’re the Waters girl.’’ He knew of you. You exhaled deeply. You could not take another peasant storming in and demanding you to leave the room again. You could not face the reality that this could be the final chapter of your family’s legacy and that you would be their downfall.
You had hoped to shut him up before he would even start. ‘’Yes. What of it?’’ You snapped,  crossing your arms over your chest when readjusting your dress.
He briefly scratched behind his left ear, before he stepped closer, his hips swaying to the rhythm of your every unsteadier growing heartbeat. ‘’Quite hostile, aren’t we?’’ He tsked, grinning from ear to ear and revealing his beautiful white teeth.
He grabbed your left hand and went to his breast pocket before handing you a cigarette. ‘’Smoke with me, Princess. It might do you some good.’’ You looked at his cigarettes, likely all the good stuff from the Riverlands. The good stuff.
You wanted to smoke when he grabbed his lighter and made a flame for you, carefully shielding it with his hands. But you pretended, as always, that you were not interested right away. ‘’Alright, let’s see if you have anything worthy of my company.’’ You brought the cigarette to your lips after he had lit it for you, and for a brief moment the tabaqua cleansed your soul of all its troubles and misery.
He stood there, watching as you peacefully smoked his cigarettes, both of you not giving a damn about the bypassing passengers who glared daggers. ‘’What is your name?’’ You asked him after you finished your cigarette.
He spoke again, his voice rough as a diamond with a befitting sharp edge that could slit throats. ‘’Aemond.’’ He said.
Your chin lifted and you nodded, as you recalled that your mother had given you and your sisters a warning about absolutely not engaging with this ‘’new-money’’ called ‘’Aemond Targaryen’’. You wondered how a Targaryen could be New money, as most of them relied on their ancestors for wealth. Yet you were in the mood for teasing, perhaps in the mood for upsetting your mother.‘’Oh, mother warned me for you.’’
The moment you mentioned that, something changed and shifted the mood from teasing and fun to serious and worry. ‘’Did she?’’ He asked, his fingers slightly fumbling with his ring. You eyed it, curiously. It did not look like a wedding ring, however.
You nodded, eager to make him sweat. ‘’Yes. She says you are a bit of a bad boy.’’ You recalled what your mother told you, as well as many ladies in her gossip circle.
He smirked, quite liking your description as you moved closer to him, staring at his pink luscious lips that seemed quite comfortable to touch, perhaps to lick. ‘’Hm.’’ Was all that left his lips, and you would not know if it was an answer or a moan.
You continued filling his head with info you overheard, reminding yourself in the process why he would be a horrible match. ‘’You have a reputation of a horrible temper, flirtations that don’t end well respectively, unbefitting of a follower of the Seven.’’ You were a good religious woman. Your faith mattered to you.
Aemond seemed insulted by your catlike smirk, before grinning. ‘’Life is too short to keep yourself chained down. Unless you like your chains.’’ He added, sizing you up and down as if he was picturing you in chains.
You huffed. ‘’You see, Mr Aemond: I am a woman. Our reputations matter and we can’t just flirt with anyone.’’ You were insulted that he would think you would let him tie you up as some weak meak thing.
Aemond grabbed your gloved hands, making contact with your skin before staring into your eyes, making contact with your very soul. ‘’Are you really that bored with the old fucks she sents your way?’’ You heard of the word fuck before, but never in that way, and certainly not o describe your future husband. It is disgusting, but the silver lining is, whoever you would marry would perhaps not live very long.
‘’Mr Aemond-’’ You started, your sentence unsure as he pushed his fingers against your reddened lips, silencing you before grabbing you gently by your hips.
He breathed against your throat. ‘’Yes or no, love?’’ He asked as you felt more like a woman than any of those old fucks ever could.
You nodded, hesitant at first. ‘’Yes.’’
He grinned, happy that he was handed what he was ever. ‘’Good girl.’’ He whispered against your lips as you breathlessly watched. ‘’I will make you a deal. My father will name me heir soon, and I’ll become a very wealthy man. We can pretend you are my fiancee.’’ His breath briefly raged over your throat, as his eye danced with mischief and promises he would not dare to keep. ‘’No man would dare to bother you during this voyage, after that, I help you find a proper match.’’ You had never been very romantic or desperate. Not the way your little sisters are.
You knew what men wanted. You knew it back then, you know it now and you would know it until the Stranger dragged you into the seventh hell, screaming and dragging your nails into the carpet.  Yet you asked, coyly as if this was a great sacrifice. ‘’What shall you wish in return, Mr Targaryen?’’ Aemond grinned, brushing his fingers against your cheeks before slightly bending his face so he could whisper in your ear, sending shivers down your spine.
His price was simple. ‘’One night alone with you, love.’’ He had hoped for one night alone with you. You can imagine what you will be doing that night. ‘’I want you to surrender fully to me, for one night. Just one.’’ He must mistake you for a harlot.
You knew his intentions and you knew his plans. Yet you kept coy as a lady and pretended to not understand where he was hinting at. ‘’And what shall we do on that night?’’ Aemond glanced subtly at your breasts.
He grinned devilishly. ‘’I can think of many things.’’
You liked the attention of someone your age for once. And there was something else about him too. He was like fire and you loved to get burned. You knew he would hurt you, but that didn’t stop you. But no businesswoman would accept her first offer.  ‘’What if I talk to your father, hm? How you dare to propose this ridiculous offer to me?’’ You knew Viserys Targaryen was on this ship as well.
His smile vanished and he became quite catty and serious. You liked how he glared at you, clearly affected by your threat. ‘’Talk to him all you want love, I did so for 20 years and he’s not very good at listening.’’ You and Aemond decided to take to the quiet coffee lounge.
‘’But your father has four other children. How are you so certain that you will become the heir?’’ You asked him.
He grinned as if he found it very funny before answering. ‘’I just am, Love.’’
You nodded, lowering your eyes as his lips got closer to yours. ‘’Confidence is the most attractive trait a man can have.’ He simply nodded and bent his head to kiss you. You turned at the last moment, letting your locks touch his lips before you took another cigar from his breast pocket, your red-stained lips curling into a smile. ‘’But cockiness is not.’’ He tried to trap you under his arms, with a grin before you outsmarted him once more, stepping aside, taking off with the cigarette.  ‘’I enjoyed your company, Mr Targaryen. Let me know if you ever become anything more than your father’s second-born son, and we shall converse again, perhaps under the delight of a glass of champagne.’’ He grinned, his breath still heavy of your almost kiss before he ran a hand through his silver-blonde hair, nodding as you walked away.
‘’Miss.’’ He muttered, more to himself than to you.
Aemond Targaryen stood on the deck of the Balarion, smoking a cigarette and watching the beautiful stars drift by, as clouds blurred the skies. He liked to watch the stars, even when he was homeless for a while, the stars were all he had. And he was soon to be atop of the very world, and he would soon have everything they tried to take from him.
An eye, a woman, a legacy. It was within his grasp. He could not lose focus now. He would not lose focus now. One of his handymen he hired for his dirty work, made himself known by whistling the few short tones they had agreed on. Aemond snapped his head. ‘’How did it go?’’ Cregan wondered as he took a seat beside Aemond. No one was there but the regular watch post.
Aemond grinned, madly as his best friend took a seat beside him, also stealing one of his cigarettes. He thought back to the girl he saw earlier. The photos they sent him did not do her justice. Her luscious lips, her beautiful hair, and her attitude. He always loved a strong-minded and strong-willed woman. ‘’Excellent. She is even more stunning than her in the photos.’’
Cregan brought the cigarette to his lips before taking the lighter from his pocket and smoking a well-earned cigarette. ‘’You weren’t worried about that, were you Boss?’’ He always called Aemond boss, despite Aemond insisting they were friends.
No. Her beauty was unmatched and unrivaled. ‘’I was worried about my nephews fucking it up, I knew she agreed to meet with Jace and various other men. I must snatch her up before her little kitten claws wander to another man.’’ He muttered. ‘’I’m new money, she does not like new money.’’ And that could be a problem.
‘’Money is money,’’ Cregan commented with a shrug. Aemond would agree. Money is money.
He nodded.‘’To us, yes, we are sane men.’’ But they were not sane men. ‘’To them its like an insult. But I have seen the way she looked at me. I will get her on her knees.’’ He vowed to himself before taking another smoke.
‘’You’re evil, boss.’’ Another man commented, who had just arrived with a very important guest. Aemond made eye contact before grinning, sending his guest into waves of terror.
He stood up. ‘’I know. Perhaps if the good path gave me the rewards the evil path has given me, more people would choose for good. Good does not pay pills, unless you’re a septon.’’ He strutted over to the guest, before grabbing him by the throat. The poor man was arranged with sending the suitcases to Y/n’s rooms. He knew where she slept.
Aemond and Cregan ignored their hostage and the watch did nothing, as the entire trip, the entire ship, was one big coverup to get Cocaine to Valyria. The ship, the walls of it, were filled with bricks as big as doors. ‘’I will seduce her. She seems to like me, so far. I just need to keep sabotaging her little attempt at finding a rich husband, and she will have no one to turn to but me.’’ The more he talked with himself, the more he became convinced this could and would work.
Cregan grinned as their hostage briefly whimpered. ‘’Does she remember you, boss? Do you think she recalls?’’ How she kicked him out of the house? How she left him to die in the cold, in the streets? How he almost starved? That brat would not only not know, she would not give a damn. He was middle-class. But now he is upper. And soon, she would become his.
‘’No. She did not. Y/N Waters thinks herself a clever woman, but I assure you, she is not.’’ Aemond turned his attention to the hostage. ‘’Now, I believe you handled the suitcases for my lovely lady friend. Do you know where she sleeps?’’ He saw the fear increase in the eyes of the poor stewart his men kidnapped after dinner.
He nodded, the foolish man, fiddling with his glasses before speaking. He did not eye Aemond at all, afraid of him. ‘’I do, but I’m afraid I can’t tell you, Mr Targaryen.’’
Aemond did not bother to respond.
Cregan laughed.
He continued, nervous and scared. ‘’She is a lady, it would not be proper to share her room number with just anyone, Sir. Please unhand me.’’ That is true, Aemond admitted to himself. Normally he would not ask, but this was not a normal situation.
He nodded to the other man, Cole. ‘’Very well. You can unhand him.’’ He told his loyal watchdog.
The stewart was relieved at first, until Aemond grabbed him by his dirty blonde hair, dragging him with him to the prow of the ship, where the decorative seahorse was hanging. ‘’No! Sir! Please!” His terrified cries echoed over the sea, and Aemond briefly exhaled the sweet scent of salt, fear, and death.
He whispered one thing in the Stewart’s ear, convinced the boy would wet himself in terror. ‘’Her room number?’’
The boy finally caved, tears streaming down his face as he told Aemond. ‘’192B. The second door on the left.’’ The boy whimpered once he was done speaking. Aemond grinned, pleased as Cregan had noted the number down.
Aemond slowly petted his sweaty hair, rubbing him as a loyal good dog. ‘’That’s a good boy.’’ He told him.
‘’Please sir…’’ the boy croaked, weakly. ‘’I told you. Please let me go.’’ That would be a risk.
He kept the boy above the waves, staring down as the ship created new fresh waves, ever moving forward. ‘’I wonder if they have sharks here. What do you think?’’ He asked the terrified boy.
He shook his head. ‘’No, Sir. Sharks are common in warm waters, they dislike the cold.’’ Aemond was surprised by that but didn't show.
He kind of could sympathize with the sharks. Lonely, powerful misunderstood creatures. Killers. ‘’Hm. I can understand. I am the same way. The cold, cruel waves. No one would live long. You would not drown, it will be the cold that stops your heart.’’ He told the terrified boy. The boy clung tightly to the rails before Aemond slashed his fingers off, sending a scream to the boy's lips. Cregan handed him a wrench, and all Aemond had to do was hit the back of his head. The wrench craved a hole in the skull, knocking the boy out cold. He then used his dark boots to give him a final kick that sent him flying in the cold dark waves below.
No one would hear him scream, for he was now with the gods, if not now, then he soon would be. The fishes would eat away the evidence and the problem was solved.
Nothing was heard except the engine of the boat and Aemond’s pleased sigh as he became a step closer to his revenge and a step closer to building his empire.

I am never emotionally recovering from the fact that Thomas Andrews wrote to his wife from Belfast port, Southampton, Cherbourg and Queenstown, keeping her updated on how the ship was running and what was happening.

David (Davy) Blair was born on 11th November 1874 at Broughty Ferry.
Blair was an employee of the White Star Line and had been originally earmarked to sail on The Titanic on it’s maiden voyage to New York, indeed he was second officer on the ship during its trial voyages to test the ship’s seaworthiness and the final journey from its place of construction in Belfast to Southampton, but a change in crewing lists at the last minute saw the second officer from Broughty Ferry taken off the passenger liner.
In his hurry to disembark the ship at Southampton docks, Davy accidently took a locker key with him. It was an innocent oversight, but one that likely contributed to the sinking of the Titanic. The seemingly innocuous key was in fact the key to the cupboard in which the crow’s nest binoculars and telescope were kept locked away. Titanic’s lookouts on that fateful night had no access to binoculars, and failed to spot the iceberg until it was too late.
He sent a postcard to his sister-in-law, writing: “Am afraid I shall have to step out to make room for chief officer of the Olympic. “This is a magnificent ship, I feel very disappointed I am not to make her first voyage… I hope eventually to get back to this ship.” But when he left Titanic on April 9, he would never set foot on it again.
The ship sank on April 15th after striking an iceberg, claiming more than 1,500 lives.
Investigations into the sinking of the Titanic raised lots of questions, including the obvious – why had the iceberg not been seen sooner?
It was believed Davy inadvertently hampered the ability of Titanic’s lookouts during the transatlantic crossing. The official inquiry heard from surviving crew members, lookouts Frederick Fleet and Reginald Lee.
The pair told the inquiry they would have spotted the iceberg sooner had they had the means to do so.
When questioned how much sooner, Fred replied: “Enough to get out of the way.”
Davy kept the key as a memento and it was considered to be one of the most important artefacts from the Titanic.
He died at the age of 80 in 1955 and the key was passed on to his daughter Nancy.
It later sold at auction for £90,000 in 2007 and the proceeds were used to set up scholarships in Davy’s name.
Davy Blair went on to win gallantry medals later in his career. In 1913, when he was First Officer on the SS Majestic, he jumped 40-foot overboard to help save a crew member from the chilly waters of the Atlantic.
The ship was 700 miles from New York when a stoker from the engine room “rendered temporarily insane by the heat of the stokehold had rushed on deck, and in his frenzy thrown himself into the sea”. Davy, who had just come off duty, heard the commotion and “without a moment’s hesitation” dived from “the dizzy elevation” to the man’s aid.
A report about the rescue in the London Gazette at the time said: “On the morning of 6th May, 1913, whilst the Majestic was in the North Atlantic, a Fireman jumped overboard.
“Vessel was backed to the place where he was supposed to have gone overboard and after some time he was sighted close to the port bow.
“Starboard emergency boat was lowered but Mr Blair, fearing that the boat might not reach him in time, jumped overboard from the port side of the vessel, swam to a lifebuoy which had been thrown overboard, and endeavoured to reach the man with it.
“He did not succeed, but, although weakened by the coldness of the sea, he managed to point out the whereabouts of the man to those in the boat, who rescued him and then picked up Mr Blair.
“There was a fog prevailing at the time and the water was very cold.”
The act of bravery saw him awarded the Sea Gallantry Medal from King George V at Buckingham Palace in 1915 and a medal from the Royal Humane Society.
A total of nine medals awarded to Davy including an OBE, First World War service medals and his Legion d’Honneur – the highest French order of merit.

The RMS Titanic
(This post is LONG sorry not sorry, also it's 2.20am as I am about to press post, that's a little creepy that I finished this post at almost the same time the Titanic slipped under the waves on the 15th, I know it's the 14th now but still little creepy) (Also if I got anything wrong feel free to tell me, as it is hard to find which info is true)
Tumblr media
112 years since The RMS Titanic sank in the early morning of April 15 1912 after stacking an Iceberg late at night on April 14 taking more than 1,517 lives with her, into the North Atlantic Ocean.
The RMS (Royal Mail Ship) Titanic was a British passenger and Mail Carrying ocean liner owned by White Star Line she cost $7.5 million to make in 1912 in today's money that would be around $244,994,210 in 2014 (if I worked it out right).
She was one of the largest Ships on the seas next to her sister The RMS Olympic and The HMHS Britannic,
Construction of the Titanic started in March 1909 only a couple of months after the Construction had started on Olympic December 1908, The Britannic would not start Construction until 1911. Her builder where Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast.
The Titanic stood 175 ft from her keel to the top of her Funnels, with the length of around 882 ft and a width of  92 ft, weighing in at sound 52,310 tons, her installed power was 24 double-ended and five single-ended boilers feeding two reciprocating steam engines for the wing propellers, and a low-pressure turbine for the centre propeller with an output of 46,000 horsepower. She had 9 decks from from A to G (I would go into say what all the Deck are but this would make the post into a novel) She had 2 Two three-blade wing propellers standing at 23 ft and 38 tons and one centre propeller standing at 16 ft and 17 tons. Her service speed was 12 kn 24 MPH her max was 23kn 26 MPH,
She had the capacity of around 2,453 passengers and around 874 crew. Was designed to carry 64 lifeboats but that was halved to 32 and on her maiden voyage she only had 20 lifeboats when she left.
The Titanic was laid down (start building) on March 31 1909, she was then launched (being transferred from a dry dock to water) on 31 May 1911, Completed on 2 April 1912 and had her Maiden Voyage on the 10 of April 1912. She did have to sail from Belfast Where she was built on April 2 1912 to Southampton but that was not classed as her Maiden voyage.
On her maiden Voyage her passengers numbered approximately 1,317 people: 324 in First Class, 284 in Second Class, and 709 in Third Class. Of these, 869 (66%) were male and 447 (34%) female. There were 107 children aboard, the largest number of whom were in Third Class. With around 900 crew members,
The estimated duration of the journey was approximately going to be 5 to 7 from Southampton to New York, porting at Cherbourg in France and Queenstown (Now known as Cobh) in Southern Ireland in between where some Titanic passengers would disembark and some would board. ( https://titanicfacts.net/titanic-maiden-voyage/ can have a look at this site, It give you a little break down of her journey I did not wanna put it all in this post, it’s already long)
Her first days at sail went by without a hitch until the night of April 14 when at 11:40pm she hit an Iceberg on her starboard side (right side) of her hull below the waterline slicing open the hull between five of the adjacent watertight compartments. If only one or two of the compartments had been opened, Titanic might have stayed afloat, but when so many were sliced open, the watertight integrity of the entire forward section of the hull was fatally breached. Titanic slipped below the waves at 2:20am on 15 April.
The timeline that I found says that she hit the Iceberg at 11.40pm 14th, at 12.40am on the 15th Captain Smith gave the order to uncover the lifeboats and to evacuate women and children at 12.45am the first lifeboat is launch with only 28 people on when it could hold up to 65.
It took the Titanic around 2 hours and 40 minutes to sink taking with her around 1,517 lives,
(This may not be the right numbers but it what we know or what we think to be know as I have seen many different number of who sadly passed and who did not)

April 15 1912 would be the last day anyone saw the Titanic above the waves, The next time anyone would set eyes on the Titanic again would be 73 years later on the 1st of September 1985 sitting 13,000 feet under the sea in two halves, as she split in half in the skinking (https://www.titanicbelfast.com/history-of-titanic/titanic-stories/finding-titanic-from-search-to-seabed/#:~:text=Although%20the%20Titanic%20lies%20in,the%20world's%20most%20famous%20ship! A site talking about the events on finding the Titanic)
Now in 2024 she has laid there for 112 years, but sadly in the next coming years some say maybe 2030 the Titanic with collapse completely as a rust-eating bacterium found on the ship named Halomonas Titanicae, which has been found to cause rapid decay of the wreck.
It will be sad to see her fully lost to us but she will always be remembered.
Not to sound cheesy but as the song once said “My heart will go on” Titanic's heart will go on and the hearts of all the lost people.
(this may make the post EVEN more long but, a heart for every 1,517 soul that was lots may they rest in peace)

RMS TITANIC
With the dawn on Sunday, April 14th - 112 years ago - Titanic sees what will be her last sunrise. The day passes in tranquility for the passengers, some of whom attend religious services in all three classes. In the wireless room, however, operators Jack Phillips and Harold Bride are working through a backlog of messages held up while the apparatus was broken down earlier in the voyage. As they work to clear the pile of messages from passengers, they take in several new ice warnings. What happens to some of these warnings has been a matter of great interest ever since.
By 10pm, most passengers have gone to bed, are enjoyed some last drinks and cigars in the smoking room and the lounge, or are otherwise indoors. The weather has gotten bitterly cold throughout the day, making a turn on the promenade an unsavory proposition for even the heartiest of passengers.
High in the crow’s nest on the foremast, Frederick Fleet and Reginald Lee are just a bit more than 20 minutes from the salvation of a warm bunk and some time off duty after two hours peering into the dark, moonless, motionless night. Suddenly, Fleet sees something looming in the distance directly ahead of the Titanic. He pulled the cord on the bell three times as he lifted the telephone that connected him to the bridge. Sixth Officer James Moody calmly asked what Fleet had seen, to which he responded “Iceberg, dead ahead!” Moody thanked Fleet and reported the sighting to First Officer William Murdoch, who instantly issued a series of orders.
Murdoch, with only 37 seconds to take action, called for Quartermaster Robert Hichens to turn the wheel “hard-a-starboard,” which, due to the Titanic’s tiller system of steering meant she would effectively turn to port. He also had the engine telegraphs rung to “All stop,” not the “Full astern” that has been portrayed on film. Murdoch’s efforts were in vain, however, as Titanic, at least from the perspective of the lookouts on the mast and officers on the bridge, gently grazed along the berg with her starboard side. Below, however, the damage was much more dire.
While most of the passengers and some of the crew thought that the slight jar and the stopping of the engines in mid-ocean meant the ship had thrown a propeller blade or suffered limited damage that would equate to little more than a delay and a subsequent trip back to Belfast for repairs, the reality was grave indeed.
Titanic, designed to float in the worst situations that her builders could conceive, was hopelessly holed in five compartments. After an inspection of the damage, her stricken designer, Thomas Andrews, signed the ship’s death warrant. “I give her an hour and half, maybe two. Not much more.” She would slightly exceed his prediction, but Titanic was doomed.
The next crisis to confront Captain Smith, the first such dire crisis in his nearly 40 years at sea, would be what to do with his human cargo. As he surely knew, Titanic’s twenty lifeboats could hold barely half of the number of souls aboard.
With that in mind, Smith ordered the boats to be uncovered and swung out. He then tasked Phillips and Bride with sending a call for assistance to any ships nearby.
The race to save Titanic’s passengers and crew, a race which would come up sorely short early the next morning, was on.
Titanic had just over two hours to live.

"Oh Juicy, I love you." Juice put the fresh bread on the table, ever since you have him that sourdough started all those months ago, he had been baking bread. He brought a new loaf to every dinner party and kept the Clubhouse well stocked, he and Bobby had developed a bit of a rivalry.
"Everyone hates hospital food, I know you're only here for another day, but I figure you're jonesing for something nice."
You nodded, "did you bring veggies? Everything here is boiled to death." He nodded and pulled a container of a mix of green.
"Sam said you really liked veggie toast in the morning." You dug into the homemade food, "is Jax here?"
You shook your head, "I sent him home, I love the guy but he's smothering me."
Juice gave you a sweet smile, "can you blame him? he almost lost his child and his old lady in the same day."
You shook your head "no I can't but it's just a lot. I'm only staying here another day so he doesn't have a heart attack. Since you're here, can you take me to see Sack?"
He went to get a nurse, and came back a few minutes later, "I don't need a wheelchair."
The nurse, Alex, who you had become fast friends with shook his head, "hospital policy."
"Hey Kip, you look like shit."
He smiled, "so do you."
You let out a chuckle, "blood loss will do that to you." You grabbed his hand, "has anyone been by to see you today?"
He nodded, "Chibs left about an hour ago. I'm kinda getting sick of them."
"Yeah, me too. I miss my alone time."
He groaned and rubbed his face, "I'm going to be here for another two weeks."
You nodded, "I know, you lost a chunk of your liver. I'll talk to Jax, make sure you don't lose your seat."
He squeezed your hand a little tighter, "it's no big deal. We almost died on Jax's old kitchen floor, I feel like that gives us some kind of near-death bond."
He laughed and clutched his side, "don't make me laugh too hard, it hurts." You sat with Kip for a little while longer before going back to your room, Jax was there waiting for you.
"I thought I told you to go home and unpack."
He smiled, "I'm mostly done anyway, how are you feeling?"
He helped you back onto the bed, "itching for a long walk."
He shook his head, "I'll see what I can do."
Jax came back five minutes later with a smirk, "I managed to charm the nurse, you've got ten minutes."
The smile you gave him made Jax feel warm, "well, don't just sit there making goo goo eyes at me, help me up." You grabbed both your hands and with a small pull you were on your feet.
"I don't know what everyone's going on about, I feel fine."
Jax kept his hand under your arm, "I can see that, are you sure you're not an alien?"
You batted his shoulder, "I don't know, maybe this whole relationship is a ploy to steal your genetic material and take it back to my home planet."
He screwed up his face through a giggle, "you are so unladylike."
You shook your head, "hey, if you want a lady, you picked the wrong woman."
He kissed you softly, "I love you so much."
You deepened the kiss, "I love you too."
You managed to get an extra lap of the hallway before he was shoving you back into bed, "any leads on Hayes?"
He shook his head, "nothing yet, Billy seems to think he's in Canada but we're still waiting on surveillance from the port to confirm."
"Makes sense that he'd head for the border, have you heard for the Irish yet?"
Jax swallowed, "it's not good. They think Hayes and Jimmy'o might have been working together to get rid of the Irish Kings, if they can't sort it out, it's bad news for everyone."
"Why does the Club have to do it?"
Jax shrugged, "a favour, Belfast offered to help before Clay could say no and now we're stuck."
You rubbed your head, "see, this is what happens when I'm off my feet. I'm not there to put out fires and it goes to shit."
Jax huffed, "I don't think this was anything you could solve."
He squeezed your hand, "I'm out of here tomorrow morning, I'll see if I can pull something out of somewhere."
****
"Let's break you out of here."
Sam came the first thing that morning, "thank God, I'm going crazy." An hour later, you were driving home. "How is everyone coping?"
He tilted his head, "everyone's really worried about Sack, he's been voted in but he'll lose his seat if he's not back on his bike by the end of the month."
You nodded, "that was sweet, Kip doesn't know, does he?"
Sam shook his head, "nah, we're going to surprise him when he gets out."
You smiled, "he'll be out soon enough, whether he's ready to ride is another thing."
Sam gave a solemn nod, "no one's going to take his seat away, he almost died trying to keep you and Abel safe." Before you could reply, you were pulling up to your home.
The dogs were on you the moment you opened the door, their little butts wagging with their tags, "hello you two, I missed you guys."
You could hear Abel crying in the background and Ima appeared looking tired, "he won't stop crying, I've tried everything." She handed him to you.
"Hey my sweet boy, why are you giving everyone so much trouble?" He cried for a little while longer but stopped when he realised you were home, "see it's not the end of the world, if you keep crying when people hold you, you're going to start offending people."
He cooed, and Ima turned to Sam, "I kinda want one."
You buried your face in Abel's shoulder to hide your smile, "yeah, so do I."
He pulled Ima into a hug, "maybe we should wait till things calm down a bit."
Ima nodded, "good idea, plus I need your crow before I go having your babies."
Sam smiled wide like a schoolboy, "should we call Happy then?"
Ima nodded and kissed Sam, "I'd like that."
Sam turned to you, "you like three meters away, we know you can hear us."
You did your best not to start jumping up and down, "I'm happy for you both, as much I as I would like to celebrate, I need a shower."
****
"Hey Darlin."
Jax got home later that day, "hello my love, how was work?"
He shrugged, "fine, we're no closer to Hayes."
You handed him Abel, "I missed the little guy."
Jax kissed his tiny cheek, "he missed you too, he wouldn't stop crying."
"It has been a long couple of days my love, but can I ask a favour?"
He nodded, "help me wash my hair?"
Jax smiled and walked you to the bathroom, "sure, you know how much I love your hair."
He made it passed shampooing before he started making comments, "you should let me do this more often."
You shook your head, "Jax, you've seen how much time I spend on my hair, something tells me this would turn into sex half the time and then my hair would be fizzy and not curly."
He leaned forward and kissed your neck, "are you saying I have no self-control?"
You nodded, "yep, not a wink."
He chuckled behind you, "if that were true, you'd never leave the bed."
"I don't think that's such a bad thing."
He continued doing your hair, you were yawning by the time he was done, "how are you feel?"
He sounded worried, "I'm not dizzy anymore, just really tired."
He helped you up, "nap then?"
You looked at the clock, "I can't, my hair's got to dry."
He laughed, "I fix everyone dinner then, I'm sure Abel wants to spend more time with you."
*****
Dinner was simple, Jax could tell something was going on by the way that you were smiling at Sam and Ima, "what's going on?"
You shrugged, "I have no idea what you're talking about."
Jax shook his head, "bullshit."
You and Ima giggled, "I'm getting Sam's crow."
Jax's smile split his face, his eyes wrinkling, "I'm really happy for both of you." You were smiling so hard your face hurt, Jax shook his head, stroking your hand lovingly, "God you're a dork."
You rolled your eyes, "I'm not a dork, I'm just happy." With dinner done, you were ready for bed.
"Shall we watch some TV? It's still early."
Jax nodded, "why not." You settled into bed, you in Jax's lap with your back pressed against his chest. You put on Friday The 13th two, Jax laughing each time you pointed out how stupid the campers were.
"These people have no situational awareness, no wonder they're being picked off."
Jax kissed the side of your face, "yeah, if that was you, the bad guy wouldn't stand a chance."
You laughed, "nope, because I have a gun."
Jax wrapped his arms around you, "I can totally see you being a final girl, running through the forest after whoever and not from them."
You turn around in his arms, laying your head on his chest. "I knew you'd get to Abel in time, I just had a feeling."
Jax's hand came up to rest over your crow, "you did?"
You nodded against him, "I did."
You lifted your head off his chest and pressed a kiss to his lips, "I love you Jackson."
He kissed you back, his hands cradling your face, "I love you too."
Another yawn broke the peace, "come one Darlin, let's get you to bed."
You nodded and rested against his chest, "you can finish the movie if you like, I'm just going to lay here."
He laughed softly while rubbing your back, "sure Darlin."
You were asleep within ten minutes, Jax turning off the TV and laying down with you on top of him, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
"Good night y/n."
****
"Good morning Beloved."
Jax smiled, and pressed a kiss to your forehead, "good morning Darlin, how are you feeling?"
You nodded, "much better, I feel like I actually got a good night's sleep."
Abel's crying interrupted the quiet, "I''ll get him."
You shook your head, "I'll do it, I missed getting to see his sleepy little face." You went into the next room, the shelves being packed perfectly, you reminded yourself to thank Juice for trying so hard.
"Hey little guy." Abel babbled, flapping his fat little hands. Ima came around the corner with a bottle, "thank you." She sat down on the soft chair, "when are you seeing Happy?"
She smiled, "he's coming by this weekend."
"I'm really happy for both of you, you and Sam deserves good things."
Her face changed, "you really don't care that I work in porn?"
You were shocked, "nope, not even a little. You make Sam happy and I can see he makes you happy. Do you love him?"
She nodded, "then that's all the matters, how much does he tell you about the Club?"
She tilted her head, deep in thought "I'm sure as much as Jax tells you, I know about the guns and the Irish, I know that's why Abel almost was taken."
You nodded, "good, you deserve to know the truth before you commit."
She nodded, her eyes growing wet, you put Abel down and pulled her into a hug. "Sam loves you Ima, he doesn't care what you do for money he just wants you to be happy. If one day you chose to leave porn and try something else, he'll support you and so will I. And if anyone else has a problem with you, you'll see a side of Sam you didn't know existed."
She smiled softly, "thank you."
****
Everyone was down for breakfast a little while later, "when are you going back to work?" You shrugged, "I wanted to go back at the end of the week but Holt says I can't come back into the office for anything other than paperwork pick ups and drop offs until my stitches are out, I'm going in today to pick up some."
Sam nodded, "when is Pd letting you back in the house?"
Jax put his piece of toast down, "today."
You nodded, "have you figured out who you're going to rent it to?" Before Jax could respond, he got a phone call.
"That was Laroy, we've got a lead of Hayes."
You waved them off, "go, we can pick this up later." They left and you and Ima continued the meal, "where are you going to get the crow?"
She tilted her head, "thigh or arm, it's not like I need to hide it for work."
"Happy's really good, for someone so rough he's very good at it."
She nodded, "yeah, he's soft and squishy when you get to know him." Breakfast went on and it was time for her to go to work, you headed off to the lab, hoping Jax would call with more information soon.
****
"Hey professor."
He put a firm hand on your shoulder, "how are you feeling?"
You shrugged "fine, a little out of sorts but fine."
He nodded, "I've left your paperwork with you intern."
With another soft smile, he left you to chat with all your friends.
"You have a trend of almost dying, don't you."
You shook your head, "yes Jack, I do, I would be too powerful if the universe didn't do its best to keep me down."
He laughed, "you're hardcore."
You smiled, "I try."
****
Jax wasn't impressed with the guy the Niners brought, he was jumpy and offred less information than Billy had found in a handful of hours. Nevertheless, they went down to the docks. Only to end up in a car chase and firefight, Jax was desperate, the last few days hitting him like a ton of bricks.
"The guy you bought the boat from, he shot my old lady in the chest and almost kidnapped my eight month old son."
The man's eyes went wide, "Irish dude?"
Jax nodded, "yeah." The man's tune changed right away.
"Three days ago, he said he needed some quick cash. Met him down at the docks with the boat and some AKs." That conversation was as equally disappointed as the one this morning. Jax was feeling more and more lost without you, he pined every moment you were parted from him.
He knew he should have gone back to the garage but he wanted to hear your voice so he comprised and called you, "hey darlin, you're a sound for sore ears."
Your giggle made him smile, "hello my love, how did everything go this morning?"
"Nowhere. Are you at home?"
He sounded sad, "yes I'm at home with Abel and the dogs. You want to come and see Kip with me this afternoon?"
He felt himself relax, "sure, I'm betting he wants a break from us."
You laughed, "nonsense, you guys are great."
"Alright darlin, I'll come and pick you up." Jax was there half an hour later, he got off his bike and took your keys from their hanger, "you ready?"
You nodded, "you know I can drive right, why do you want to drive my car so much?"
He laughed and shook his head, "hey, a guy can't appreciate a nice cage?"
You grabbed his hand, holding it while he looked over your face, "you doing ok?"
He shrugged, "I just want all of this over with."
You pulled him into your arms, "I know, it's not like Hayes has left the planet, we'll find him."
The drive to the hospital was quiet, Jax seemed lost in thought, "I'm sure Kip will be happy to see you, I think he's still worried you'd be mad that he didn't do more."
He nodded, "yeah, I know nothing's going to happen to him, everyone wants him to get his full patch."
You pulled up at St Thomas and got out, going right to Kip's room, "how are you feeling?"
He shrugged, "the stomach ache won't go away but the doctor said that's normal."
You nodded, "yeah, it will pass after a while. Have they told you when you're getting out of here?"
He nodded, "still eight days."
Jax sat down on a chair next to him, "how about I get some food from the cafe and leave you two to talk?"
Jax smiled and handed you some bills, "thanks darlin."
You came back fifteen minutes later with some coffee and snack food, handing Jax a wrap and Kip and pie before sitting down with a serving of fries.
"Thanks y/n the food here makes me wish I died on that floor."
You laughed, "I know right, I was only here for three days and I thought I was going to starve to death."
Jax laughed, "it can't be that bad."
You shook your head, "well then, not fires for you." You passed the box to Kip and raised an eyebrow, taking a handful and smiling at Jax.
"You're terrible."
You smiled, "I know." You and Jax sat with Kip until Opie and Lyla showed up, "change in shifts?"
Ope nodded, "yeah, Hale's at the Clubhouse, he's got an update on Hayes and wants to talk to both of you."
You left soon after, Jax still insisting he drives. The compound was quiet when you got there, only a few people milling around. Abel was with Sam, and seemly confused that he somehow kept disappearing under the table.
"You are so easily entertained, you know he has no sense of object permanence, he thinks you're not there."
Sam laughed, "yes, that's why it's so funny."
You looked around, "where Gem?"
Clay's face fell, "her mother just passed, she with her father."
You put a hand on Jax, "I'm sorry."
He shrugged, "I didn't know her that well."
Hale came over after finishing his conversation with Bobby, "you got any updates?"
He shook his head, "we went to the marina but we didn't find anything, the FBI aren't really interested anymore, they seem to think he's already left the country."
Something had changed in the man, "you seem different."
He nodded, "I realise I can't be sheriff and be at your throats, as long as it doesn't happen inside Charming, and you don't put anyone here at risk, I won't bother you. But that won't stop me from arresting anyone that brings their problems here."
To say that was a shock was an understatement, "shit man, what happened?"
He swallowed, "my brother, I saw how many people came here to air their problems with him and it made it clear to me that the town trusts you more than us."
It was strange the way he said it, like Clay wasn't even there. But that didn't matter, he slapped Hale on the shoulder and gave him a warm but false smile, "I'm glad we could finally see eye to eye."
"I think I'll go see Gem tomorrow, does someone have the address?"
Clay nodded, "yeah, that might be a good idea."
Chibs ran to the office to get it, coming back soon after. "It's not too far to travel, I'm sure she'll be grateful to have you there."
You took the bit of paper from him, "thanks Chibby."
You stood around talking for a little while, then Jacob Hale turned up. "What the fuck do you want?"
He did his best to seem humble, "I read your statement in the Gazette. I think it would be good if we could hold a town meeting, I'd like to make a statement in apology."
You crossed your hands over your chest, "and say what you Nazi shit bag."
"Nothing much, I want to hear from the residents about why they're upset and what they want for the town so we can move forward. I came here to ask you if you wanted to speak because in your statement to Jerry, you said you had written multiple papers of Neo-Nazis."
You shrugged, "fine, but read them first, I'm not sparknotes. Also, pay for them, you can afford it."
Everyone was watching on, glaring at him. Sam was holding Abel, tapping his little back after feeding him. He went to thank you when someone drove through T-M and started shooting.
Jax drove on top of you, shoving you to the ground and laying on top of you while David pulled his gun and started firing, the van crashed into the far wall and everyone stood up. Jax could hear Abel whaling and when he looked over, Sam had me press to his body. Sam's arm had been grazed by a bullet but he didn't seem to have even felt it.
Jax ran to the van with Hale hot on his heels, ripping the man with the gun out of the passenger seat and climbing on top of his back, slamming his head into the ground over and over again. Jax had four inches and 40 pounds on Hale so it took him and some of the other Sons to manage it and even then it was hard.
After checking on everyone, it was clear that other than a few grazes and some shock, everyone was ok. You ran over to see Hale standing in front of Jax so he couldn't set himself upon the man again.
"Jackson, Abel is fine. Listen, he's not even crying anymore." Jax paused and couldn't hear his son screaming, Hale didn't seem impressed.
"Let me take him home, we won't stop for anything. I think it's clear that this was a serious situation, and everyone acted within the law." You pointed to the rifle that was in the front seat.
"That was a good shoot, and I have no problem making that statement so you can bring IAB to my home later and I'll back you up, ok?"
He clenched his jaw, "go, but if I see either of you in town tonight, he'll spend the night in lockup."
You nodded and dragged Jax away, Sam walking up to him and handing over Abel, "see, he's ok." Jax buried his face in Abel's tiny shoulder, "I'm going to take us home before you get arrested."
The ride home was silent, Jax was waiting for you to start yelling or for that horrible dream to come true, but you didn't. When it was time to get out of the car, you parked and got Abel, then gave him right to Jax.
"I'll put dinner on, you take some time to calm down then we can talk, ok?" Jax nodded and sat down on the couch, despite the way you were talking to him, he was waiting for you to kick him out.
Sam came home with Ima, he must have gone to get her after Chibs patched him up. "You guys good?"
Sam nodded, "Hale will be over later with IAB to take your statement." He sat down next to Jax and Ima went to help you cook.
"What's wrong?"
Jax shrugged, "you don't need to worry about my sister, she's seen a lot more violence than that."
Jax let out the breath he didn't know he was holding, "what do we do? Most of us are going to be inside soon and we can't run a Club from the inside while all this is happening."
Sam paused before responding, "we'll work it out. Hap's going to transfer and if Tig can swallow what happened between him and Kozik, he'll be voted in too. Things will work themselves out, we'll talk to Alvarez tomorrow." Jax nodded and relaxed at the sound of you and Ima giggling in the kitchen.
"We better go help with dinner or they won't feed us." Jax huffed and got up.
"Thanks man."
****
Hale showed up after dinner with two IAB officers, "hello, please come in and remove your shoes. I wouldn't be letting you in my house normally, letting alone Internal Investigation but it's for David so I'll bear it." You sat them down at the table with everyone else in tow.
"State your name for the record."
You did so then went into your statement, "taking into experience my just over ten years of combat experience both direct and indirect, I believe that deputy sheriff Hale acted in an appropriate manner to stop the threat."
Sam backed you up, mentioning that the shot he took was clear of civilians, "you say you have ten years of experience, why weren't you using your weapon?"
You glared at him, "my partner threw himself on top of me so I didn't get shot, I can't really get my gun out of its holster and fire it when I have a fully grown man laying on my back, can I now?"
They seemed happy with everyone's recounting of the events, then you were asking them to leave, "thank y/n"
You gave Hale a curt nod, and he left. You turned to Jax, "come on dearest, I need a long, hot shower."
****
When you woke up, Jax wasn't there. You threw on a robe and went looking, finding him in the home gym doing push-ups. You could see his arms shaking as we went down and there was a sheen of sweat down his back.
"Good morning beloved." Jax felt against the ground, unable to do anymore and got up, coming over to kiss you softly. "Something on your mind?"
He shrugged, "I don't know what happens now y/n, it's gonna get a lot worse before it gets better."
You nodded, "I know."
He shook his head, "do you? What happened last night was just the tip of the iceberg."
You put a hand on his shoulder, "if you're trying to scare me you need to try harder. I don't mean to sound harsh, but you're the ignorant civilian in this partnership. Come back to me when you've rip a man's guts out with nothing but your bare hands and a hunk of broken glass, then we can talk."
Jax swallowed, he sometimes forgot that you had seen and done so much violence. "I'm going to drive to see Gemma, I've called so she waiting for me. Your grandad's not doing so well."
Jax nodded, "we're heading to St Thomas to see if we can Id the guy who shot up the Clubhouse. Have you heard from Billy?"
You shook your head, "yes and no, he texted and said they had something but he's still waiting on confirmation."
"I hope you get somewhere, we could really use a win. I text when I'm there safe."
Jax smiled softly and kissed you, "I see you tonight?"
You nodded, "yeah, I love you."
"Love you too."
****
"THEY CUT OFF MY FINGERS, THEY CUT OFF MY FINGERS." While Chucky distracted the guards at the hospital door, the guys went inside. He struggled while they looked for tattoos, but they only found non-descript prison tats. Then Jax had an idea, pulling the man's lower lip down, he found the numbers three and twelve.
It was like a lightbulb appeared over Opie's head, "C, L, Calaveras?"
"They're in Lodi. We better go see T.O."
Bobby shook his head "they're a Mayan puppet club, what are they doing shooting up the Clubhouse?"
Sam thought for a moment, "not anymore, The Mayans dropped them when they started working with Zobelle."
Clay nodded, "it seems without their minders, they're moving up in the world."
*****
"Hello Mr Maddock I'm y/n, Jax's partner."
He tilted his head, "your grandson, daddy."
A look of understanding came over his face, "I knew that. Where is he anyway?"
You walked inside and put your bag down, "busy with work but I'm sure he'll be around sooner or later. How are you feeling?" You started unpacking the groceries you have bought with the help of the nurse.
"Fine, please be careful, Rose doesn't like it when the kitchen is messy."
You nodded, "of course sir, I'll make sure it's perfect." You took Gemma aside while the nurse continued to unpack.
"How long does it take for him to forget?"
She looked sad, "not long, he asks about Rose a thousand times a day."
You nodded, "yeah, he's not the first person with dementia I've met. I'll keep him entertained, I'll take him for a walk out in the garden and talk about the roses. Often if you talk to people with dementia about things they enjoy, it helps keep them stable."
You went back into the lounge room and sat next to Nate, "I really like your garden, can you take me on a tour? I've never been able to keep my roses alive."
He got up shakily and gestured for you to walk outside with him, "I'll show you my trellises, are yours getting enough sun?"
****
"It wasn't us that killed Eddie, it was Stahl. She didn't want to take the heat for ending the ATF investigation so she put it on us."
Jimmy'o shook his head, "Jesus Christ, this shit just gets deeper."
Jax had a scowl on his face, "Cameron directed his vengeance at the wrong target, he almost took my son and put my old lady and one of our prospects in the hospital."
"We know he's got a fake passport, he's got to be back in Belfast."
Jimmy'o explained that he wasn't but it was hard to tell if he was being truthful. "I'll be heading home in a couple of days. Luke will take point from here. If there's any news about Cammy, I give you my word, you'll be the first to know."
Clay reluctantly took Jimmy's extended hand and they left. As they were getting onto their bikes, Jax brought up one of Bobby's ex-wives and her bounty hunter boyfriend. But Bobby was far behind on alimony and child support to so it took so doing to get him to agree. However, after a quick beaten and a kind word from Jax, she was on board.
With that sorted, they went to see T.O and the other Grim Bastards. "You guys have had a tough run, how can we help?"
Clay leaned in, "the drive-by was done but the Calaveras. We know The Mayans tossed them after what went done in Charming, we were wondering if you had any info."
"We've been seeing a lot of activity in town."
The vice president spoke next, "the Calaveras have been on a recruiting spree, it all adds up."
Chibs shook his head, "we're going to have to break it down, we can't have a rival club at our borders."
T.O nodded, "we can't them inside our, the dope and pussy game is hard enough without anyone else stepping on it."
Clay nodded, "agreed."
The V.P spoke again, "what's the move."
"Let's find out what Salazar is up to."
T.O seemed to be on board, "we need to locate a C.L someone high up, an officer maybe."
He nodded, "yeah, we'll find the right guy."
****
They met the bounty hunter outside a sex shop with the promise that if they bought this high-risk bounty in, he would help them find Hayes. It didn't take long for them to grab him and after a quick car chase and an indecent with a hybrid, he seemed ready to help.
"Hey, I want something on Hayes by the end of the day."
****
Jax just couldn't win, even after beating the shit out of Salazar, he wouldn't talk. So now he was sitting on his bike, ready to run Salazar over to get answers. It took two laps passed his buried head before he talked.
"We wanted to set up a bag and cut operation in Lodi because The Mayans keep taking our territory, we want to move H to push them out of the prison trade."
They walked away, "this has to be the deal Alvarez was going to cut with Zobelle."
Jax nodded, "if they're processing it in Lodi, it means they have to take it through Charming to get to Stockton."
Opie had another bright idea, "why don't we let Alvarez know, I'm sure we can find a way to loop the Bastards in."
****
"He hasn't asked about Rose once since you took him outside."
You smiled, "people with dementia are just like anyone else, I gave him something to occupy his mind and that helps keep it away from the fact that he is feeling confused."
"Will they do that in the home?"
You nodded, "I looked over the information, it's a really nice place with some of the best aged care doctors in the state. Rose picked very well." Just as you were about to add more, your phone ran, "it's Billy, I need to take it."
Billy was quick, "I got a lead on your guy, he's just been found dead with an IRA tag in his head in Ireland." You were racing out the door before he could hand up.
"Gemma, I need to go back to Charming and talk to Jax, they've found Hayes," You drove off with the promise to come back tomorrow, getting to the Clubhouse just as the day was winding down.
Jax seemed better, pulling you into a hug, "we found Hayes, he's in Canada."
You shook your head, "I don't know where you got your source from but they're wrong. Billy just sent me this." You pulled out your phone, opened the encrypted Avnil app and showed him the photo of Hayes.
"Jax, he's in Ireland."

Star of the ocean ends on a bitter note.
Olympic is over the moon when she finds out that Gordon sees her as a mother. For the first time in a while Olympic feels genuinely happy.
Gordon gets confronted by a fellow express engine and is challenged to a shunt-off. If Gordon wins the big engines will leave Gordon and his small engine friends alone. During the challenge, Gordon sees that he is beating his competition by a long shot. This causes the young engine to become cocky and accidentally ends up ramming his train into his narrow gauge engine friend Delma.
Delma is severely damaged and the crew at the Belfast steam works don't when or if she can be repaired. Sheldon becomes enraged and has a fight with Gordon. He blames the big engine for letting his pride get the better of him. Gordon argues that it was an accident and tells Sheldon that he was only trying to help his friends. Gordon tells Sheldon that his (Gordon's) mentor professor Winslow was right; little engines don't appreciate what others do for them, with that the two young engines friendship ends.
Olympic's passenger ship and best friend Nomadic heard the whole fight and tells Olympic what had happened once the ocean liner returns to port. Olympic is devastated by the news, she comes to sad conclusion that the docks are bad for Gordon and she must send him away for the young big engine's sake.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nomadic tells Olympic she overheard the passengers talking about a railroad controller from an island called Sodor. She tells Olympic that this Sir Topham Hatt is looking for an A1 Pacific for his railway. Nomadic goes on to say that the passengers all had positive things to say about this Fat Controller, but Olympic wants to meet him personally, just to be sure.
So, the next day, White Star invite Sir Topham Hatt to the docks to chat with Olympic. The Fat Controller is a gentleman and gives a very polite greeting to Olympic, why he even feels honored to be meeting such a famous ocean liner.
Olympic tells Sir Topham Hatt that she knows he is looking for a Pacific. Olympic says she has a young Pacific, but Olympic wants to be sure that the young engine will be going to a good home. Sir Topham Hatt fully agrees and Olympic begins her interview.
In the end she agrees to hand Gordon over to the North Western Railway, but only on the condition that Sir Topham Hatt takes proper care of the young engine and helps Gordon to become a good engine. Sir Topham Hatt agrees.
Olympic tells Gordon the news, but the young engine is devastated. He thinks Olympic doesn't love him anymore because what he has done. Gordon apologizes profusely, begging Olympic not to send him away and that he promises to be good. Olympic comforts her son, assuring him that she loves him very much, it's just that sometimes love has to hurt in order to help and better those one loves.
Gordon asks if he'll ever see Olympic again. Olympic tells Gordon the truth and that she isn't sure if they will, but she tells him that even if they never meet again, she'll always keep him in her heart and will never forget Gordon. Gordon promises not to forget her either.
The two spend Gordon's last night at the docks by each other’s sides, promising not to leave the other until it was time for Gordon to go to Sodor.
Baby mine, don't you cry Baby mine, dry your eyes Rest your head close to my heart Never to part, baby of mine Little one when you play Don't you mind what they say Let those eyes sparkle and shine Never a tear, baby of mine If they knew sweet little you They'd end up loving you too All those same people who scold you What they'd give just for The right to hold you From your head to your toes You're not much, goodness knows But you're so precious to me Cute as can be, baby of mine - by: Frank Churchill (music), Ned Washington (lyrics),
