imo simon would've been completely justified in ending things with wille before episode 5, but he didn't. he tolerated how he was being treated both on and offline, with wille just brushing off how much he was hurting - because, unlike previous seasons, simon really didn't get mad at him. ("just don't reply to the comments!" doesn't work when simon still has to see all of them DAILY) im gonna be so honest here, i was rooting for simon to snap at wille (i know he kinda did with the sit-in, but i don't really count that because he eventually came back and sat with him), but like....when he didn't. when he still, after all of that, after wille flew into a rage and yelled at his parents in front of him, he didn't yell or get angry with wille. he just softly said "this isn't going to work". i think that is ultimately More heartbreaking than if he'd gotten mad - he still loves wille. he knows wille is hurting. but he's hurting too, and he's realized (or just thinks) that there's nothing left to do. he gives up.

sorry but I love the Izzy “dangling my legs over the side of the ship” scene because like. he’s literally right. it DOES serve him right.
Ed was deeply heartbroken but coping healthily until Izzy got in his head & made him feel like all he deserved was destruction. Ed TRUSTED Izzy, and this person who he felt knew him & saw him & cared about him essentially confirming in his view that he doesn’t deserve good things and only has worth as a monster— that being soft was worse for him than being dead— made him feel that he truly was unloveable and shoved him over the edge into the Kraken persona. plus Izzy ASKED him to be violent! he grinned when he cut off his toe! the beginning of s2 is Izzy realizing that a. Ed is not actually happy as Blackbeard and is in fact destroying himself and b. Izzy himself has grown to care for this crew in a way he didn’t realize he had and maybe actually has some human empathy. and doesn’t want them to be brutalized. which I honestly don’t think he had a handle on before it was too late & he’d already set them up for this level of violence. and also clearly he did NOT know Ed in the way he thought he did! he didn’t realize he cared about the crew like that, but he also didn’t think Kraken-Ed would be that intense. he thought that horrible pep talk was what Ed needed to get back to being pre-Stede Blackbeard, not realizing that pre-Stede Blackbeard was a facade Ed was already deeply unhappy and insecure underneath, but also failing to comprehend (or even notice) the extent of Ed’s trauma and lack of self-worth and the fairly obvious (to anyone who actually knew or understood Ed) fact that telling him those things would shatter his very fragile belief that he deserved these tenuous but brave attempts at taking care of himself and trying to become who he wanted to be. Kraken-Ed was not who Izzy thought he would trigger when he gave him the talk, because he didn’t actually know or understand him like he thought he did. & that’s what he’s coming to terms with in s2 and it is a wonderful arc! lots of people have written fantastic metas about Izzy & his motivations and the complexity of his realization that he didn’t know Ed like he though he did & wasn’t close to him like he thought he was so I won’t bother to fully go into that here as interesting as it is. but like.. he asked for violence & he got it. he didn’t have a good handle on his own feelings about the crew/piracy and he evidently had zero handle on Ed’s (he is masterful at suppression but isn’t emotionally intelligent enough to be able to tell Ed is too), and while yeah it was Ed’s trauma and whole brutal career as a pirate and this glimpse at a different future and Stede’s betrayal all coming together to cause Ed’s eventual breakdown, Izzy’s talk is what made him give up and pushed him overboard into the Kraken era. he convinced him he was worthless if he wasn’t a monster, & in doing so unleashed that monster onto himself and the crew. he taunted the shark and lost a leg. I don’t think there’s anything unhealthy about him framing it like that— he isn’t suppressing his feelings about it or pretending it didn’t happen— he’s just processing & accepting the truth of the matter. when Lucius says Blackbeard cut off his leg and Izzy says “a shark did this”, he’s acknowledging it wasn’t really Ed who shot him, but a violent, hopeless, actively suicidal caricature of Blackbeard, a monster Izzy helped create. Izzy isn’t Ed’s victim— they’re an eye for an eye now. and I’m glad he acknowledged it like that

but also........the fuck does he mean sam had something else besides hunting? no offense but no the fuck he did not. that man was a cardboard shell who didn't even have a personality by the end of the dabb era. even the dog was clearly more attached to dean. do you know how dull and empty you have to be for a dog to be 'meh' on you?

The Hogwarts Express (Regulus)
Regulus gazed in wonder. The Hogwarts Express. It was a beautiful scarlet steam engine stretching so far down the platform that he couldn’t quite see the end even when squinting and craning his neck. The cool September air carried the scent of coal and the distant promise of adventure. He clutched the handle of his trunk, his small fingers tracing the elaborate initials engraved on the polished surface – R.A.B. A hand gripped the back of his immaculate robes jerking him back with a gasp.
“Stand up straight” his mother hissed into his ear. He felt colour staining his cheeks and silently prayed that nobody had seen. Walburga Black, stood regally beside him, her sharp features framed by immaculate dark curls. She wore an expression of stoic pride, her eyes surveying the platform with the disdainful air that marked her as a pureblood of the noble House of Black. Sirius, Regulus's older brother, lingered nearby, clearly desperate to escape onto the train.
The platform was a cacophony of sounds, filled with the hoots of owls and the murmur of voices. Families moved about, hugging their children and exchanging words of encouragement. Regulus looked up at Sirius, who seemed nonchalant but betrayed a flicker of excitement in his stormy grey eyes. He had admired Sirius his entire life, despite the subtle disapproval that sometimes crept into their mother's gaze when she looked at the elder Black son.
Walburga regarded both her sons with an imperious gaze. "Remember who you are. Act accordingly. Your father and I expect nothing less."
Sirius rolled his eyes, but Regulus stood straighter, absorbing the weight of his mother's words. It was a mantra they had heard countless times, a reminder of the expectations that came with their family name.
The distant whistle of the Hogwarts Express echoed through the station, signalling the imminent departure. Students began to board the train, laughter and chatter filling the air. Sirius surged forward like a greyhound hearing the starting pistol. Regulus hurried after with a pang of panic. What would he do on his own?! The scarlet steam engine loomed ahead, billowing white clouds of steam. Regulus hesitated for a moment before stepping onto the train, glancing back at the platform. His mother's gaze followed him, a mix of cool indifference and something more complex lingering in her slate eyes. He wouldn’t let her down.
“Are you coming?” Regulus turned to see Sirius peering round the door to a compartment halfway down the carriage. His face was bright and clear as though the storm clouds had passed and now, as summer ended, the sun returned. A second face bobbed into view beside Sirius’. Large circular glasses and riotous black curls grinned at him with what could only be described as a warm mania. He nodded dumbly and managed to move toward them. They ducked back inside and Regulus took a few steadying breaths before reaching the compartment.
Regulus entered the compartment to find Sirius deep in conversation with three other boys, their laughter filling the air. The atmosphere was charged with a camaraderie that, to Regulus, felt like a wedge being driven between his ribs. An unfamiliar pang of anxiety and resentment settled in his chest.
"Reg!" Sirius greeted him with a grin, motioning for him to take a seat beside him. "Meet James and Peter and Remus. James, this is my little brother, Regulus."
James extended a friendly hand, "Nice to meet you, Regulus."
Regulus reluctantly shook James' hand, a curt nod being his only acknowledgement. He cast a sidelong glance at Sirius, who seemed entirely at ease with his companions.
"So, excited about Hogwarts?" James asked, his tone friendly and inclusive. It set Regulus’ teeth on edge. He gave a noncommittal shrug, avoiding eye contact. He felt a growing unease as the conversation continued. An invisible barrier was forming between him and Sirius. His brother, usually attentive, was engrossed in conversation and laughter with James, Remus, and Peter.
Ignored, Regulus became increasingly sullen. He watched, his jaw clenched, as Sirius and James bartered anecdotes and jokes. Clearly, he wasn’t welcome in Sirius’ happiness. Finally, unable to contain his feelings any longer, Regulus snapped,
"Why are you being like this? You've never been like this before!"
Sirius looked taken aback, and the compartment fell into an uncomfortable silence. James exchanged a glance with Remus, sensing the tension.
"I'm just talking to my friends, Reg," Sirius replied cautiously, his brow furrowed.
"Well… Fine!," Regulus retorted, his voice laced with bitterness. He slouched in his seat, glaring resentfully at James. A few beats and he stood, grabbed his bag, and stalked out of the silent carriage. Blindly, he stalked down the passage, ignoring the acid burning at the corner of his eyes. It was fine. He had survived all of last year without Sirius hadn’t he? It will be fine, it will be fine. The train groaned and rocked into life causing him to sway dangerously off balance. As the train pulled out of the station, Regulus found an empty compartment and settled in. The rhythmic clatter of wheels on tracks provided a comforting background noise, leaving the platform and his childhood behind. Thank Merlin for that.

here's some lore regarding eyða that you would just never known unless the deities themselves told you <3
eyða is the only deity that came into being at the same time as sunna. whatever caused sunna's creation caused his, too, and he is the only deity that can truly be considered sunna's equal. her children have always failed to kill or subdue her, but eyða would not have the same trouble.
he was ( and i suppose still kinda is ) a patient, understanding person before endir's birth. he knew his sister would regret killing him, knew that her actions did not hold true malice, knew that it was only a matter of time before she brought him back and apologized. but then she never came, and a castle appeared in the spirit realm. endir appeared. eventually, eyða understood that he was never going home. he understood he was replaced and betrayed and thus became bitter and resentful.
the spirit realm is, in truth, eyða's domain. it is constructed from his soul's essence, and endir's castle splits it in two. one side is tainted by eyða's darkness that grew and festered once he realized what sunna had done. the other side is untouched and where souls waiting to be reincarnated reside; should endir's castle ever fall, it would be consumed by eyða's darkness within minutes, and its residents twisted into dark spirits and fiends.
endir is literally eyða's replacement. sunna eventually came to understand that death must exist, but her shame and pride and fear prevented her from simply facing her brother. this betrayal is, in part, the reason that the spirit and mortal realms must endure the evils of dark spirits. any souls who resided close to eyða were tainted alongside him.
to be specific, eyða is the god of destruction, death, and the end, whereas endir is spefically the god of death and the afterlife.
eyða does not have a physical body nor contact with the mortal realm, but he is a god like sunna, and like her, he is able to influence the mortal realm to an extent. when a great calamity occurs or a mortal falls to the temptation of violence/destruction, it is his doing. hurt and filled with an old darkness, eyða wishes to bring an end to sunna's beloved creations -- the world and all its inhabitants.
i'm contemplating that it is eyða who edmund makes a deal with, possibly promising to become a vessel for his soul once edmund dies. i can't remember if i talked about this here yet bc it's a recent edit, but edmund is a vampire, so he would think that he's tricking a god into a deal that only he would benefit from. maybe it works or maybe it doesn't... i'm undecided bc i do want eyða to be the true big bad, but he might be an atagonist and conflict for another story :' )
