Trying to find some old books again

so, I just remembered a childhood book I would sometimes read. The book went like this: there were these siblings who would eventually venture into the woods and find an old lady. She would offer them goodies like fresh milk and eggs if they promised not to laugh at any of the strange animals she took care of. They did as asked and were rewarded. The book also featured children who did not do as requested and as a consequence, the farm goods they received weren't good because they mistreated the animals.

Does anyone know this book? I may be misremembering some details. I remember enjoying reading it.

this screenshot is almost unbearably low quality but i am FASCINATED by this napkin behavior. most of it in the lap but one corner anchored under the plate!

this is jing ran from my true friend but zhu yilong totally did this in guardian as shen wei also, in the scene where he and zhao yunlan have dinner with guo changcheng and gcc's uncle. notably, luo fusheng didn't do this in granting you a dreamlike life.

i'm fascinated by this behavior. is this. what is this? is this z1l's interpretation of how fastidious people use napkins?

ok, so this one is a hp fic I found on Wattpad.

basically, James and Lily survive voldy and maybe have a daughter, she might have been Harry's twin, idk I forgot. but anyway she ends up being raised by a deatheater who keeps her inside bc she's scared of people realizing her "daughter" is the missing Potter.

i think the "mom" is forced to send her to Hogwarts after keeping her for 2 yrs or something, but she forces her to wear this sort of necklace that conceals this birthmark she has or something that could identify her.

so at the train station the Potters see her and round up everyone to help prove this girl they bumped into is their missing daughter.

i also think it's oc x oc.

Things that make me a real star wars fan:

the og battlefront games are some of my favorite games ever

I've read over 100 of the books

I've read most of the pre-disney star wars comics, including the strips from the 70s and 80s, and many of the post Disney comics

I played all the Lego star wars games as a kid and then paid to play them again with the Skywalker saga

the 2003 clone wars specials are some of my favorite animated media ever, and I've watched the clone wars series several times over

I rewatch the OT and PT about every 3 months and actually force people to celebrate may the 4th and may the 6 with me

I own star wars Lego sets. Yes the small ones, but even those are overpriced. Still own them though.

I've watched most of the Disney+ cashgrabs shows

when I went to comic con the only thing I bought was a han solo art print that I got signed by the artist (I then left early because I have autism and had an autistic meltdown. I haven't gone to a convention since but I want to try them again, so if you're autistic give me tips you use at conventions pls!!)

#this may turn into one of my long ass posts with hundreds of screenshots of quotes from the books #but i dont have the energy for that just now #anyway. this moment makes me wanna throw shit at the walls. their relationship is my favourite thing from the very beginning #but dumas went really went out of his way to make it even more insane in the last book #and dont hit me with a 'aww they have such a big/little brother energy its so cute uwu' please im begging you stop saying that #nothing irks me more than hearing their relationship described as something that innocent. its so much more complex and intense come on #there is pure visceral hate there. jealousy. bile. cruelty. some fucked up form of codependency even? maybe? from d'artagnan's side?#there's nothing more horrible and cruel than the fact that THEY are the only two left alive in the end (not for long but yknow)#they would NEVER be friends if not for athos (and they would never hate each other so much if not for him too)#they hate each other so so much. but remember that d'artagnan starts out being absolutely bedazzled by aramis and looking up to him #his first impression of aramis is just. hearteyes and 'wow i wish that were me'. he doesnt do that even with athos at first.#he grows to adore athos yes but upon first meeting him he doesnt think much of him. unlike with aramis.#and then it changes instantly. does a 180° flip when aramis is a bitch to him.#and it stays that way for the entirety of the trilogy. until this moment. this one short moment when d'artagnan #who. mind you. is not innocent himself and was also manipulating the hell out of porthos and talking shit about aramis behind his back.#but he makes that step. he reaches out. #chronic blogging #shit chat #well at this point both of my parents (who i inherited my Just Tough It Out streak from) have #upon hearing how bad my post-hysterectomy pain has been #told me 'umm no you need to go see someone.' and 'please just go to urgent care i will pay for it if your insurance won't.' respectively #haunted by the ghost of my right ovary (sharp stabbing pains & debilitating muscle spasms around the incision site)#it's been 1.5 years since surgery and it's getting worse not better #at my 1mo post op i was like 'hey right side hurts a lot worse & the incision seems really wonky & off-center. thoughts?'#they said it was nothing to worry about give it time i might still be feeling pain up to 6mo post op #sooo 8mo post op contact surgeon again 'hey remember that thing i mentioned? yeah still hurts bad enough i struggle to walk sometimes'#she says eeehhh maybe you developed pelvic floor dysfunction or always had it and surgery made it worse. read this book & do some stretches #book stretches & muscle relaxers helped for a bit so i just carried on but it was not improving in fact becoming more persistent #lil over a year post op contact surgeon like 'HEY do not ignore me i am in an amount of pain that is NOT NORMAL and you WILL see me'#drive 1+ hrs for her to poke at me for ~10 minutes ignore most of what i was saying and determine it's just muscle spasms do more stretches #said physical therapy MIGHT help if i did it 2x monthly for at least 6mo. which would've involved commuting over an hour during the workweek #no THANK you i'll just keep doing my stupid stretches. and the thing is.#the stretches ARE helping. i feel my overall balance/flexibility/stamina improving #but that by contrast is making the STABBING PAINS WHERE MY RIGHT OVARY USED TO BE all the more obvious #'oh it's just muscle spasms' well why the FUCK are my muscles spasming around THIS SPOT EXCLUSIVELY for SEVENTEEN MONTHS STRAIGHT #i have essentially no pain on my left side at all. i feel overall just fine & dandy but i am convinced there is something #like. very seriously wrong on the right side causing this #and yeah if my surgeon won't listen to me maybe i will check myself into urgent care and demand an ultrasound #(which btw i asked for during my last visit & she told me it was unnecessary & to fuck off)#but now the two people who instilled me with a very deep mistrust for the medical industry #and from who i learned from via a lifetime of observation how to dissociate from chronic pain in order to function #are telling me 'yeah no this is bad you need a DOCTOR.' umm. i probably need a doctor.#was talking w/ E last night about degrees of pain & like. avg day is like 4-6 on a 0-10 scale. good days 2-3.#i don't consider calling out from work unless it's like an 8 or higher cause i'm just so used to it.#i'm sick of it. so fucking bored with being in constant pain. i want my life & energy back. i want a personality beyond Oh Just Tired back.#i wanna be able to enjoy touch again with immediately hitting overstimulation threshold due to pain.

Sometimes my brain gets into something like Kirby or Submas and has this habit of slapping it into weird crossovers and some of them are really kind of out there but anyway has anyone here read the Mistborn trilogy?

(We've got more implied character death and some implied body horror ahead, folks, sorry)

Okay look yes I was thinking about it a few days ago and was like, "Oh yeah, Mistborn, I should read that again some time. What was the name of those guys with steel spikes through their bodies, again?" followed by, "Yeah, those guys were weird. Totally ducked up process for making them, too. Gotta kill people and drive stakes into them. Yeah."

"... *looks at Ingo and Emmet*"

Not helped by the fact that Kelsier and Marsh were brothers (though not twins) and Kelsier was very optimistic and charismatic while Marsh was more dour and harsh.

Not helped at all.

Whether one of them gets the nasty Steel Spike Through The Eyes Treatment or not, though, I think they deserve cool metal powers. What was it, Steelpush and Ironpull? Just as an example.

One metal does one thing, and there's another that does its inverse/reverse?

That would fit them, I think.

And Lucas/Rei is giving me huge Lestibournes (Spook) vibes. A good boy. Helpful lad. Deserves good things.

And could you imagine the chaos of the protagonist being a Mistborn, only for the writer to be incapable of deciding which protagonist to use and deciding to use both of them and have them be siblings?

(It's me, I'm the writer, I can never decide which protagonist to use so I just slap them both down, usually, and make them twins)

Hey, I’ve got a question for you guys. Did any of you read a book about this kid who was sent to his dad for the summer, because he accidentally punctured his dogs ear with a dart? He wore this patch that he wasn’t supposed to take off. His dad lived with the kid’s grandma from what I remember. And at the end of the book, i remember the kid waving back to his grandma because he was returning home with his mom.

A scene that really stuck out to me was when the kid was talking about going to a baseball game with both of his parents. And how nice it’d be to have a nice, normal outting with them because he never had that before (since they were divorced)

I've just been posting on my main because it's kinda hard to keep up with sideblogs now but I will say I loved season 2

#must a thing be book accurate? is it not enough to see the crows together? doing things and involved in chaos?#now please green light the soc spinoff @netflix #the show is not perfect but in the sense i am having a good time it is very good to me #it also helps me to supplement the show with what i know from the books #criticism is 100% allowed but it does make me sad seeing so much of it #i dont remember that being the case after s1 and i personallyyy thought s2 was even better #like kaz!!! oof #i understand the concern too with using stuff from ck too but it's a big book #along with soc there's a lot they have not used #and it's a six person cast minimum for soc #i don't think it's bad to use some stuff now when a theoretical ck season would only be 8 eps anyway #sab spoilers #misterbrekker

Help if you can!

Okay so guys I’m losing my mind over this one book I read back when I was little and for the life of me I can’t remember it’s title or author. I must have been about 7 (ish???) when I read it so this was a long time ago.

If anyone wants to help me try and find it, summary (as best I can remember) is below!

There was a shy girl (who may have been an orphan?) sent to live on a farm in the countryside with a distant relative (?) that helped care for horses.

The little girl was super quiet and shy, but loved horses and wanted to learn to take care of them and ride them (also she was described as pale with dark hair if that helps). She noticed at one point that sometimes she could hear someone riding a horse at night and looked out her window once to see someone riding a beautiful black stallion.

Later on she figured out where this person was staying (can’t remember how) and discovers it’s a young boy her age and his younger sister who ran away (?) and the local police want to return them to a family member (not parents, they are also orphans?). They don’t want to go because the horse they are taking care of is a nearly wild stallion that only listens to the young boy and the siblings know that they won’t be able to keep the horse for some reason (also both kids had dark hair and I think dark eyes).

I can’t remember the full drama but I think the ending has the horse getting taken in by the young girl’s caretaker because she bonds with the horse and there is a promise to let the siblings visit.

I desperately wish I could remember things more concretely but it’s been 15ish years and I have NEVER been successful any other time I’ve searched for this book. It’s been bugging me a lot recently so I figured I’d put the word out.

I received The animated Peter Lorre as an early birthday present and I absolutely love it! Its an enthralling read as a fan of both Peter Lorre and animation history(I'm still surprised by how many characters I grew up with, who I didn't know were Peter parodies till I read the book) and I'm thrilled to own it for myself.....but I do have an issue with it(cause god forbid I enjoy anything without finding something to later complain on tumblr about)

#like im sorry im being such a jerk csuse obviously im eternally grateful that someone took the time to compile an index about every peter #lorre caricature/reference in animation they could find #but how does one compile such an index and not notice that references to the actual peter lorre went out the door a loooong time ago #but anyway this is a very cool book #i remember becoming obsessed with the beatles cartoon for a brief period a few years back for how damn weird it is #and one of the funniest things anout it to me was George harrisons weird ass changeable accent #and i had no clue that he sounded like that because his VA just gave him a peter lorre impression #the one about weevil from yugioh was interesting too #cause i grew up with that anime but ive seen yugioh abriged so many times in my teens that i can only hear him sounding like beavis lol #also im pleased about the chameleon from Tuff puppy #cause thats one i actually did recall all by myself and it was nice to have it confirmed #peter lorre #the animated peter lorre #also i dont agree about petes actual image slipping away #if anything i think its the opposite #in an era where his older films are easier for any jo schmo to watch than ever #(i still have faith that well see more of The missing wife in my life time)#i think petes parodies help new generations discover him #whenever i first discovered peter lorre part of my fascination was the weird familiarity i already had of him from cartoons #and now ive been obsessed with him for over two years #matthew hahn #just realised i spelt his name wrong in the meme fml

This might be a bit of a stretch, but I've been looking FOR AGES!

Does anyone knows about a children's book collection about a family of rabbits that run a farm together? The artstyle was very similar to that of Beatrix Potter (who always shows up when I try to google with vague descriptions of the book) in which it had that watercolor, cozy feeling and muted colors vibe, but I SWEAR the rabbits themselves looked different from her illustrations of Peter Rabit.

Most of the characters were rabbits, but there ware a few other animals, I belive there even was a retelling of "the tortoise and the hare" in one of the books. All the animals wore what I can only describe as old-timey american(???) Cotaggecore clothes and I specifically remember there having a lot of little baskets filled with carrots that always made me think carrots were actually delicious as a child.

I read these in the early 2000's if that offers any clue, but I don't really remmber most of the stories (I think a bunny wins a blue liston for the biggest carrot in one?). They came in this beautiful collection box that was illustrated with some of the scenes of the books and it has a little red handle to carry them around.

Logic tells me they MUST had been in spanish bc I didn't know English at the time.

Does anyone has a clue of what am I even trying to find? :( my grandma used to work as the principal in a school, so she had a ton of these collections and I remember it was a gift from her, she has Alzhaimer's now and theres no way to ask her, but it would mean a lot to me if I could find them.

If anyone remembers or knows about anything like what I am describing, would you tell me? Please :(
