horus and apollo headcanons? (and if possible some ra and helios hc)
they make my brain happy
cracks knuckles
had to think on this for a bit :3
So we've already covered some things I headcanon about them. (and correction: Horus has a falcon head, not a hawk. my brain went H in Horus = H in hawk lol my bad) I shall recap real quick :3
Horus & Apollo
Both associated with the sun in some way.
Identified with each other when Greece met Egypt.
Apollo transformed into a falcon to escape Typhon, and Horus has the head of a falcon.
WE HAVE ESTABLISHED WHAT I HAVE SAID. NOW ALLOW ME TO EXPAND ON SOMETHING ELSE :D
So Osiris was overthrown by Set. Set was overthrown by Horus.
and Apollo is set up to be next in line for the Greek Cycle
I just find it fascinating how the super-powerful son of the king of the gods (who was overthrown) associated with light was identified with the super-powerful son of the king of the gods (who is prophesized to be overthrown) associated with light.
grrrrr i am Stalling on ideas...hrmmm...
Ra & Helios
Real chill with each other. Helios, Ra, and Amaterasu were the main? is that the right word here? like Most Present/Recognizable sun gods so they basically were the defacto heads of the sun god meetings.
Greece was demoted when Helios faded because Apollo was A Child by god standards even if it left Amaterasu by herself wrangling the meetings XD
Basically they are those grandpas who chat over a beer about kids these days while watching Apollo and Horus blow shit up or something XD
Helios: You see, back in MY day, we could blow more things up with the sun.
Apollo: But those regulations make sure we don't fry the mortals...?
Helios: Schematics.
Ra: Well, back in MY day mortals DEALT with the heat and Liked It :)
Horus, patting a confused Apollo's shoulder: It's the generational difference.
^that is more of a joke than actual headcanon but i'm throwing it out there XD I'M SPITBALLING OKAY
Ra: We ALSO didn't let BABIES drive the sun-
Apollo: I AM OVER 4000 YEARS OLD-
Ra: A FUCKING BABY, YOU ARE
poor Apollo. forever destined to be seen as Baby by the Much Much Older Sun Gods rippppp

Guys honestly if anyone knows any riodianverse fanfiction that dives into/brings to light(for percy and tyson)/has some of percys other seafam relatives besides just his godly siblings as characters let me know! I love the idea of uncle!percy and uncle! Tyson so I'm especially interested in stories where the kids of percys and tysons siblings( siblings being rhodes,kymopoleia,Benthesikyme, Herophile, triton etc) are characters. Especially if it involves demigods ocs.
But also
a story idea for anyone to use(let Me know if you do)
imagine if tyson found out that castor and pollux were his and percys 3x great nephews( imagine the hug!) . Honestly I can see percy inviting the twins over to his mom's occasionally. After castor dies I can definitely see sally and Paul opening their home more to pollux when he needs it while percy insisting on pollux visiting him and annabeth at new rome University occasionally especially during the summer just so he can get out of cabin 12 especially if no other campers are claimed by his dad.
Also Just imagine estelle having yet another big brother figure in pollux! He would be so gentle with her!

So any Helios HCs…?
Oh sure!
Helios is the reason that both he and Selene aren't around so much, he grieved so deeply for the loss of one of his children that he pulled away and ceased to do his job.
That's what led to Apollo taking over the chariot, Helios is the Sun, Apollo is just moving it around until Helios is back
Selene went to support Helios, comforting him in his grief, which is why Artemis handles the moon
Helios loves horses loads, especially his own, he spends hours taking care of them
Eos tends to trail after them, chattering about her day and listening to their own, she often rides along in his chariot
Helios will spend hours looking down on the world, whether he's working or not, he loves to sit and watch the people moving below
Helios will personally fist fight literally every storm/cloud spirit blocking his sunlight in existence, he does not like being blocked
Helios and Selene don't get to spend as much time together as they'd like, they love eclipses cause they just get to sit together and chat about their work
Helios loves loves loves birds, they're darlings, he would keep birds as pets except he thinks you should never keep one that can fly as a pet
he does enjoy spending time in the garden of the Hesperides, and with Atlas

Luke Castellan and his team of godkillers but they don't kill with weapons stained with ichor, but with the illusive Mist that warps the mind of mortals so easily, it shakes their faith.
In eons past, these mortals revered the Olympians with offerings and prayers daily, told their stories that inspired fear and awe all the same. It was something the pantheon had gotten hooked on, something more addicting than the ambrosia and nectar the texts had waxed poetry over. And the council of twelve did their damn best to keep it around. After all, there was no other high out there that can compare to the feeling of being in control, of being powerful.
But like any high, it wears off, sooner or later.
So that's exactly what happens.
Alabaster C. Torrington, with the help of Dr. Claymore, "discovers" new texts that discuss Greek gods that have never been heard of before; gods who are kinder, wiser, more trustworthy, than the ones everyone has come to know in this era.
It's interesting, how the origins of these gods and their lives seem to have no relevance or connection to the other pantheon and its history. No Titanomachy or Gigantomachy to speak of. There are a few parallels, but they are pleasant, like the love stories of Dionysus and Ariadne or Pygmalion and Galatea. Otherwise, it's like an alternate timeline of its own, where every god present is named a god for a reason.
It's fake.
But the mortals don't need to know that. For what's false, if persisted in, would become true anyways. Furthermore, it isn't like a new pantheon will harm any of them. The lucky ones with clear sight may win the heart of a deity who would actually see them beyond their fleeting mortality, who would care for them.
It takes a while, though, for the mortals to adjust to this suddenly newfound information. They are stubborn creatures, Luke knows, who tend to fear the unknown and new. Yet the youth crave it like bears after a beehive laden with honey. With time, they'll come around, he knows. Maybe he might not be there to see if the plans work out for himself, but someone would, and that's all that matters to him. He just needed to be the one to start the movement.
Luckily for him, he doesn't have to wait too long.
The faith spreads through idealized modernized takes on the mythology, as silly as it sounds. It's very of the era, isn't it? Books are being published on these gods who endure hardships and come out irrevocably changed but for the better. Ethan flips through one by an author under the pen name S.J and devours it in three hours. It reads nicely and he wonders when he'll get a chance to meet the main character of the story, and ask her if the myth holds true. It is, obviously, but it's different hearing it from a god. The fanfictions are even better, but Lou Ellen Blackstone gets drowned out by Alabaster's "lalalalala" before she can start talking about the recent one that was updated a few hours ago. Eh, so what if it's a little spicy?
Nonetheless, the new band of believers grows, and it's like a sucker punch to the gut for the Greek pantheon.
Apollo comes to camp and drops to his knees before his own cabin, surprising the campers. He looks terrible. Dionysus had already looked miserable, but the children attributed that to his sour personality. And, as usual, no one noticed the girl by the hearth who had disappeared weeks ago. But Apollo, golden boy Apollo, well, he has eyes that are sunken and sickly yellow, matted hair, muscles shrunk, and hands that shake as if they are beyond his control.
"They're killing us," he whispers to Lee Fletcher, "all of us."
"What do you want us to do?" Lee asks. Apollo coughs into his fist and looks down to see a smear of gold staining it.
A nosebleed. Gods don't get nosebleeds.
His children, gods bless them, are trying to heal him, but to no avail. It's kind of funny, how on any other occasion, such an act would have been annoying. If the solution was to simply heal, don't you think he would have tried that? But, weak as he was, he felt touched. Loved, even.
But love wasn't always enough to save another. He, of all gods, should know that.
"Can you write?" he asks. Lee scratches his head.
"Write?"
"Stories. Poems. Songs. Anything."
"Um, no, not really. Dyslexia kicks my ass, and you know archery is more my thing. But Will does sometimes. Healing is his forte, but I always see him writing something in a notebook, though that could just be medical notes, now that I think about it-"
Apollo disregards that last part and begs Will Solace to take up the pen and fight back. It's their last hope. If nothing is done, this camp and its children will become all that is left of the Greek Pantheon, for textbooks and website links are not enough to keep the faith going, especially if left to collect dust or rot in an archive.
"Write us new myths. Stories that can happen now, that we can make happen. Redeem us, so that we can live. We'll do it. We'll do any of it," Apollo begs.
"Anything?" Will asks. Apollo nods.
"Anything."
The Fates looked at each other from above. How time has changed. In the past, battles were fought with swords. Now, they had to be fought with words.

Leo Valdez short story angst.
Done for creative writing!! Meant to be short :)
Heavily based on events in Mark Of Athena
~~~~~~~~
“Everything you've done, i've seen.”
This sentence has haunted Leo ever since he heard it. He didn’t understand what it meant, nor did he know who had said it. Was it all a nightmare? Or was it a warning? The voice sounds familiar. He wasn't going to tell anyone on the Argo ll about what happened. How would he explain it? That he heard some voice in his head? He's not even sure anyone would believe him. Not after what happened at the Roman camp. He didn't even know if the two new people, Hazel and Frank, would trust him, because of what happened, all he could try to focus on was steering the Argo ll.
But he couldn't focus. His mind kept wandering, overthinking. His mind would go into different things he’d done across their trip. How many people didn't want him? How he always felt like the 7th wheel, now that there were 3 couples on the ship, and he had no one. Sometimes he would just talk to Festus, sure, but that didn't usually suffice. He’d always wanted to be in a relationship with someone. His mind kept wandering before he snapped back into reality. His heart sank, but he continued to press onward. As they got away from the Roman camp, he put the ship into auto-drive, with Festus’ help. He went to go meet the others in the dining room, before hearing..
“Everything you've done, I've Seen”
So I'm probably reading too much into the lines, but it said in a PJO book that only Helios could ride the sun chariot and no other god could, not even Zeus, the all-powerful King of the gods and ruler of the heavens (the book specifically pointed out how powerful Zeus is and that he couldn't handle the heat of the sun chariot.) But guess who also drives the sun chariot and is the only god to be able to ride it, given that Helios is a titan? Apollo.
(You can find this on pg. 121 of Percy Jackson and Greek Heroes)
not sure if anyone's asked you this before/yet, but so you have any opinions or thoughts of the relationship between all of the pantheons? general relationship and possibly some more personal ones?
I've read many different headcanons and fanfiction where people have mentioned their thoughts on it, but nothing they've ever gone into detail about.
there's nothing really preventing them from interacting *👀 I keep remembering the smallest tiniest hint of freypollo we got* but that doesn't mean they go out of their way doing it, yk?
OKAY SO-
The pantheons I'll be mainly focusing on are the Greek, Roman, Norse, & Egyptian ones. I'll probably make little nods to other ones too tho :3
Don't be surprised if this mainly centers on Apollo XD He's my guy <3
GREEK & ROMAN
Let's kick it off with these two!
"But aren't they the same-?"
Nope! The Roman pantheon started off as their own sets of gods - the thing is, they had very little myths written down so we don't know much about how they were characterized :(
Howmever. We do know that when they were synchronized with Greece's gods, you can see the little differences between them - for instance, the Roman gods were more Forces Of Nature than gods who went out and Did Stuff, like Greece's.
Jupiter for example! He didn't have the "fucks around" rep Zeus does! Jupiter from the Roman's perspective didn't go out and do much. He rooted on Aeneus, yes, but the myths of his children weren't quite as popular in Rome as they were in Greece (probably because they were. ya know. Greek heroes, and not Roman)
And Apollo. Oh, Apollo...the only major god who didn't have a Latin equivalent.
Rome loved you so much they adopted you and went "no. no. he was always here. no we aren't lying. see? he's in the Dii Consentes!" XD
Fun Fact: Apollo is basically multiple gods in a trench coat. Paion (Mycenean), Smitheus (Mycenean), Aplu (Etruscan), Apaulinus (Hittie), Grannus (Celtic), ect were all Apollo-equivalents who historians have concluded to be past incarnations of Apollo!
which is INTERESTING because...do those gods still exist in the RRverse? Are they connected to Apollo in some way? Are they little voices in his head? DO THEY HAVE DRINKS TOGETHER?
I have questions and I need answers.
Greek & Egyptian
Saving the Norse for last because we all wanna save Freypollo for last <3 the best for last lmao
RIGHT OFF THE BAT I'M GONNA SAY THAT ZEUS DOESN'T LIKE THE OTHER PANTHEONS! I BET HE DOESN'T!
Which sucks for him because Apollo has friends in Egypt XD
I do think Apollo and Horus would be friends! Not only are they both associated with the sun in some way, but they were actually identified with each other when Greece met Egypt!
Greece: Oh so you have a super-powerful son of the king of the gods associated with light? So do we! :D
Egypt: Oh my gosh we do! :D
You know the myth of Typhon? Apollo transformed into a hawk to escape, and you know who has a hawk head?
Horus. :D
also Horus took over the thrown from Osiris - sure, not in an overthrow way but still. he overthrew Set and claimed the throne
sounds like something we all want hmm...
Also, I headcanon that Helios and Ra go WAAAAYYYY back and Apollo only met Ra like. once. before Isis did her blackmailing and Ra disappeared.
SO WHEN RA CAME BACK, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN DURING HOO BTW, APOLLO HAS NO IDEA! HE'S ON DELOS AT THAT POINT! THEN HIS TRIALS!
So when he rolls up to the next sun god meeting he sees Ra and is like "wait what who are you- OH WAIT!"
And Ra's like; "WHO LET THIS CHILD BE PUT IN CHARGE OF THE SUN???"
Apollo: I'm over 4,000 years old-
Ra, pointing: BABY
(Headcanon that Ra & Amaterasu are like. the defacto sun god 'leaders' who keep the meetings rolling. Amaterasu was very tired when Ra disappeared and she had to wrangle these fiery gods together XD)
(Also Helios thought Horus was a lil' upstart XD)
Finally, I also saw someone else mention that Apollo could have learned some Egyptian magic and used it to create the border of CHB!
Headcanon Hecate snuck along with him and it's their little secret :3
Greek & Norse
HERE. WE. ARE.
LEMME GET MY MAP OUT
Tumblr media
SO.
Green highlight is where Greece is. Blue is where Hyperborea is (see this post for details)
In that post, I came to the conclusion that Apollo Totally Definitely Has Met Norse Gods BECAUSE OF HIS WINTER VACATIONS!
AND IF YOU LOOK ACROSS THE BALTIC SEA-
Tumblr media
STOCKHOLM.
AND WHERE DID APOLLO MEET THAT HOT GOD WITH A TALKING SWORD???
A TAVERN. IN. STOCKHOLM!
FREYPOLLO LIVES (<-knows very well it's basically already canon XD)
Fun fact: the people of Hyperborea were most likely the mythological avatars of the Norse people! :D
SO I CONCLUDE-
Apollo takes a trip across the Baltic Sea and flirts in the Stockholm tavern and that's how Freypollo happens <3
Other Pantheon Thoughts
Hindu: This thought came while I was creating my @underrated-lovers-of-apollo-poll - Apollo & Indra!
They shared an elephant ride that one time! Wouldn't it be fun if they also kissed? :3
also Indra is a storm god with thunder and lightning think of the angst-
Shinto: Amaterasu taught Apollo Japanese when he discovered the haiku for the first time - sadly, only Athena ever bothered to learn it to experience the haiku in its fullest. pushing my sibling agenda again haha
Because haikus always sound better in their native language <3
Hittie: This connects to the 'Apollo trenchcoat' thing earlier - if Apollo is like. the current form of Apaulinus, would the Hittie pantheon like. drop in from time to time like 'heyyyy we miss you <3'
Apollo: *trojan war flashbacks*
Apaulinus was heavily associated with Wilusa, whom historians have confirmed was Troy, and Apollo's first temple doesn't show up under AFTER the bronze age collapse and the war happened BEFORE that happened meaning HE WAS APAULINUS WHEN THE WAR HAPPENED MY HEART-
i need to look into more pantheons. it's so much fun making these connections and coming up with headcanons for the RRverse :3
Sol Invictus: Tales of the Invincible Sun
Ανίκητος Ήλιος - Sol Invictus
Translation: Invincible Sun or Unconquered Sun
Lord Helios has always been the Sun, the mightiest of the Titans, the All-Seeing Sun God, God of Sight, Guardians of Oaths, and the Bringer of Life on Earth way before Phoebus Apollo took over him until one day, Helios suddenly disappears for thousands of years without any word why, followed by his twin Sister, Selene, leaving their younger sister, Eos and other members of the family behind. No one knows what really happened.
And everyone heard all the myths surrounding him, the same myths about some of his famous children, grandchildren, and even himself, But what if there is more to him than meets the eye on the surface?
In which we unveil all the secrets of the Original Sun God.
Heyyyy based of what we've said, what do you think is the pjo timeline after tlt?
Hi!!!
After tlt?? Idk, so like I'm guessing each book takes place in the next year (since Percy is only there in the summer).
So he'll be going to the sea of monsters (whatever that is) next summer at 13. (Also I'm guessing some conection with Grover's search for Pan, since he said he will be going to the sea.)
So the next one is the titans curse (I really want go know which titan!!!! I kinda of hope Helios or Selene, cause I really like those and would like to see them. Also Helios is married to a daughter of Poseidon!! So... ). I'm guessing the titan curses someone when Percy is 14, seeing as someone told me that Artemis and her hunters are very big part of this book, I'm gonna guess that either Artemis or an important member of her hunt is the one that gets cursed.
Then battle of the labyrinth is when Percy is 15, and I'm guessing it's a battle between Luke & Kronos army against the campers (knowing the gods idk if they were involved in said battle, but I'm gonna bet, no.).
Then, the last Olympian, Percy, is 16, which I think involves the prophecy? I'm guessing it's like actual war/ final violent battle between the camp & Luke's army and Titans vs. gods (what does this mean for gods that are half titan like Apollo and Artemis??? 🤔) It makes sense for the biggest confrontation to be in the very end. Although who the actual last Olympian is beats me. Like the last one standing?? If you kill all of the Olympians, who would be the last one to die?? Maybe the one most worshipped? (Apollo or Aphrodite), the one actually connected to Death? (Hades) Although, looking back at the Olympian council room, aside from the thrones there was also Hestia's fire (I'm guessing, since otherwise it would just be a random fire thing on the side), since she is the eldest and doesn't have a throne, maybe her? Yeah, idk... I also have no idea what this means in the context of the final battle. Do the Olympians actually die?? Unlikely since Apollo has a whole book series about him later on....
Those are my guesses. Idk if this is what you meant when you sent that ask (if not, you can send me another one, I'll try to answer properly), but yeah!
TOApril Day 20 – Chaos Soup
This is absolutely not how Chaos was described in the book but the concept of the faded gods just floating in the primordial soup like "unbothered. moisturized. happy. in my lane. focused. flourishing" was too funny to me
