jaune the wizard au) jaune gets a visit from the council of magical girls and milfs (two separate organizations) mainly it's his mom his sisters and the daughters of salem and ozma, apparently neo invited them for and I quote "the mother of all fucking ragers!" end quote. jaune's not sure that's a good idea what was neo thinking? neo and ruby decide that they have to introduce themselves to jaune's family and not wanting things to be weird also invite some other people they know of (ozma brags about his daughters quite a bit) ruby lets neo send the invites while ruby has her mother summer (dyrad of roses) help her deliver them.

WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?

"Mom?" Jaune looked at the blonde woman at his door, her hair tied back in a bun to hide her graying streak. "What are you doing here?"

He left home nearly three years ago, at the request of his now dead father, to take the family sword and become the hero he was destined to be. His mother gave her teary good-byes then, and that was the last he saw of her, and hadn't recieved a letter since. All of this made her response all the more jarring.

"At the request of the Magical Intellectuals of Life and Fertility," she smiled very innocently, "I am here to get my freak on."

Jaune blinked. "WHAT?!"

Neo darted around, willing long dead roses and gardenias to bloom once more. Beyond her realm, the land was entering it's autumnal decay period, but within her borders, the world was caught between spring and summer. A sweltering heat that made excessive clothing hazardous and a heavy air of pheomones to set the mood. It was one pit of naked bodies from an orgy.

"Um, Neo," the small woman glanced over her shoulder, arms outstretched to pseudo orchestrate her realm to obey her whims, "is all of this really necessary?"

Neo slapped her arms to her side and fluttered into Ruby's face, pouting with puffed cheeks at the red fairy. She was just jealous because Neo got her knight and she didn't. She warned her that she doesn't share, and she was a pixie of her word.

"Listen, I don't think you should be back here!" A familiar voice cried out from the distance. The two focused their eyes on the group of women entering with a handsome, young knight behind them. "Neo's been feeling sick, and I don't want anyone to-"

"My word, it is humid in here!" A blonde woman said, pulling off her robes.

"It's to open Neo's sinuses." Jaune explained, catching all the woolen robes that fell, one-by-one.

"Oh my~," his sister said, purring as she stretched her limbs, "these pheromones are a bit much, don't you think?"

"No, I don't." A burly man answered, chest full of black hair, and predatory eyes like a jungle cat. "I think it's perfect."

"I agree," a striped, young man said, licking over his long canines, "I think it's just right."

"Oh, you boys," a woman purred from the other side of the hirute man, barely clothed like the others, "so brash and eager." Her amber eyes honed in one of the women. "But who can blame you?"

The women tittered as Jaune groaned. Neo recognized them all from her communes with the forests. Members of both the MILF society and the Magical Girl coalition gathered for her sweltering swan song of summer of sweat and sin. Among both sides were Jaune's adopted mother, sisters, and the daughters of Black Queen Salem.

"Neo, they're saying you invited them." Neo flew down to her love and nodded. "But why?" She flew down and grabbed his finger to pull it up. Once where she needed it, she lifted her arms, leaning her belly into it. "You're hungry?"

Neo rolled her eyes, and fluttered up higher.

"You're, uh, having needs?" Jaune blushed.

Neo slapped her face.

"Jaune," his mother sighed, already in the embrace of the tiger-man many decades her junior, "she's telling you she's pregnant."

"Pregnant?!" Jaune balked, looking to Neo, "but that would mean I-!" Neo kissed his lips, and he fell to the ground in shock.

"Just like his father." His mother sighed.

The cozy evening is gently interrupted by a growing tingling sound, a pixie jingle coming down the shaft. The fire winks out of existence for a moment as shiny black boots glide into view, followed by legs looking a bit slender for Santa, a red velvety skirt trimmed with white fluff on the bottom and the oversized black belt on top ~ when a petite belly follows you're sure something is amiss, as that tummy is quite exposed by the cropped white vest with big buttons. The jingling continues, care of two belled bracelets on long lean arms ~ the appearance is capped by a luscious tuft of long blonde hair, flipped to one side around the beaming face under a santa hat whose puff is bouncing comically as she steps before you, snapping a finger to reignite the flame. "Coo, coo, coo~" she smiles, hands on her hips. "Merry Gigglesmas sweet pea ~ looks like someone..." She reaches from behind and produces a scroll. With a shake and a dip, the parchment unfurls to an impossible length, and a feathered pen appears in her other hand. She clicks her tongue, purses her ruby lips and looks down the list. "...has been veryyyy good this year!"

She tosses her list aside, the paper thinning out into nothingness, but keeps the pen in hand. The fluffy white feather whips gently in the air as she steps closer to you, boots clicking on the floor. "You know what good boys get don't you~" she chuckles, hand on her belt as the feather draws over your nose at your balking response to being called a boy. "Why of course I know how hold you are ~ but you're a boy to this tickle mama~" She delights at your blushing, following as you scoot back. "Good boys get tickles, oh yes they do, my, my, my ~" Fingers drift down, wiggling tauntingly over your belly. "Do you have just so many giggles in your belly? Aww, you tell mama Amy all about it now." Her arm wraps around you, cuddling you lovingly. The fingers at your side trace up and down, carefully working your shirt up to expose a little slash of skin for the feather to start tracing back and forth as she pumps you for giggly information. "Have you wanted your tickles all year? Yeahhh? Where did you want to be tickled? Mmhmm. Is that your favorite place to be tickled? And you like to be tickled more than to tickle right? Are you my sweet little ticklee boy? You just want to be cuddled and loved and feel so special huh?" The feather dips in and out of your navel, carefully exploring its depths before swirling in a loopy pattern, following the twitches and gliding on your waist. Her nails at your side squeeze and stroke to accent the sensation, as does her merry chuckles and big smiles drifting down from above. All the movement of her hands sets off those jingly bells, the sound sending aural tickles up to your silly ears. "Aww ~ just relax, your tickle mama is taking care of you now~"

She releases you and tells you to stand up. "C'mon, stand up~" she starts poking you playfully, stroking under your arms and behind your knees. When you stumble up to attention she chases you with more pokes and playful tickles, directing you over to the couch. Taking at seat at the opposite side, she pats her lap lovingly. "Feet~" she directs, pointing at your socked soles. When you sheepishly start to bring them forth she smirks and seizes your ankles, tugging your feet into her lap. "Oooh, such big feet you have my giggle boy. Let's seee~" the back of her index finger begins probing up your sock, carefully diverting around and testing for reactions. "Does that tickle? How about here? Right here? On the little instep? I'll take that as a yes~" she coos and hums, evolving from little testing strokes to playful wiggles. Her other hand makes a crash course to attack the other foot, wiggling fingers slowly in the air towards its destination. "Coochie coochie coooo~ you're very ticklish. Very ticklish boy. Ticklishness!" She follows your wiggling feet, keeping them dancing with playful strokes and scratches on the surface of your socks, smiling away at every reaction. "Do you just love your tickle mama tickles? Let's hear it silly honeybunch~" As you start to respond, her fingers hook the ends of your socks, her mouth open in mock concern. "Ooh. Ooop! What's gonna happen? What's gonnnna happen?" Her nails follow the progress of the socks, gliding along the skin as it is exposed. With a squeak, she reaches your toes and pops off each sock, tossing them aside unceremoniously behind her. "You won't be needing theseee~"

She looks over your wiggling toes, admiring their shape and motion. "What adorable toesies~ are they ticklish? Ticklish toes? Hmm. Are your ticklish toes on my good tickle spot list?" She again reaches into nothing and produces a scroll lined with feathery edges. "Why yes, they are! And guess what your toes are getting for Christmas?" She chuckles, her exposed tummy bouncing merrily. "A nice game of This Little Piggy!" She squeals, tossing aside her list and making a pinchy motion with her thumb and index finger. "Ahhhhhh~" The pinchies grow closer and closer, a smirk on her lips as she fakes out a few times, getting to your big toe and hovering over it. "Ahhh ahhh~ thiiiiis little piggie went to market~" She starts, holding your big toe and rubbing it softly and slowly with her thumb. As she plays the game, her other hand retrieves the feather and starts dusting under the currently highlighted toe playfully. The next toe ~ "this little piggie stayed home~" Her thumb massages tight little circles on the toe, the feather swishing down below. "Thiiiiis little piggie had~ kumquats!" she snickers, moving to the next toe, where her thumb and feather meet on the smaller surface, rubbing and fluffing that sensitive digit. "This little piggie had a market. Or it stayed roast beef. Hmmmm~~" Her thumb wiggles and the feather idly traces under all the toes. "Now, how did this go again~This little piggie~ this giggle boy, hmmmsss. Now, now, don't fret. Tickle mama will get it~ " She starts idly drifting from toe to toe, the feather even wafting down to play at your sole. At last she squeaks and recalibrates, recapturing that toe and working her magic touch. "This little piggie stayed home with tickle mama for all these wonderful ticklesss~" she grins knowingly, moving to the pinky. "Annnnd this little piggie~ wennnnnntt~" she stops her narration and attacks both of your feet, hooking an arm around your ankles and raking her nails up your soles, digging under your toes and stroking the inner curves in a rapid blur of motion. "Allllll the way home!!" She cackles out, keeping your feet captured snugly in her lap ~

The night becomes a blur in your recollection from this point. She certainly played this little piggie on your other foot as well, and some variation called this little llama on your belly. And then it was warm snuggles, held in tickle mama's lap, all that soft hair over you and soft touches along your body while she prompted you for your holiday wishes and tickly confessions. The jingling never stopped, the giggles never ended. Your laughs went long into the night. Was it all tickle haze? Certainly not, as you wipe the sleep from your eyes now and see those black boots gliding back up the chimney, her chuckle and the jingly bells following as the fire once again rears to life. Your toes and belly tingle with holiday delight.

Pixi on the glow blush stick - shade: ruby - rating: 7/10, it's a bit sticky but blends out really well and makes doing my makeup more accessible and easy; it is a bit hard to close without accidentally getting the cap on the product; $18 from Target

Revolution Lenkalul Celestial Dreams Eyeshadow Palette - rating: 8/10; it's pretty pigmented but could do better for darker skin; $4 from TJ Maxx

Colourpop Lite Stix - shade: skywatcher - rating 8/10, it can be a bit sticky sometimes but it looks really nice and is easy to use; $10 from Colourpop

Profusion Cosmetics Wing It superfine eyeliner - shade: black noir - rating: 9/10; it's a really fine tip so you can do a lot of detail with it; $4 from Walmart

Maybelline New York Mega Mousse Mascara Green Edition - shade: brownish black - rating: 6/10, its really sticks and doesn't really keep my eyelashes out of my eyes; $12 from CVS

Perfect Doesn’t Need to be Perfect: Chapter 5

Yeah, bit of a heads up, this chapter got away from me and became way more angsty than I intended. 0_0 I'm gonna try to bring this story back to fluffiness in the next chapter. Sorry about that.

In the original story (as you're well aware because I'm sure you've listen to me and read Twelve Days of Chatmas already), this chapter only had a small Ladybug cameo. Which means I more-or-less had free rein on this... probably why the angst was able to creep in. >3< (Can't leave me (creatively) alone for 2 minutes; I swear)

Also, I had no clue what to do with the akuma, so I made some weird Scrooge/Grinch/Hulk hybrid thing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

CHAPTER 5:

It was an exhausting day. It was a draining day. It was one of the worst days of Marinette's life. She was curled up in a ball on her bed, hugging her pillow to her chest as she stared at her corkboard of Adrien pictures. Tears stung her eyes and a hot knot grew in her chest.

“Marinette?” Tikki drifted to her bearer. “Are you okay?”

“Who were they for?” Marinette choked down a sob.

“They?”

“The rings!” She squeezed her eyes shut and curled tighter around her pillow.

The day had started off typical enough. Marinette woke up late for school after a long night of figuring out her gift for Chat Noir. She was reprimanded by both her mother for sleeping in and Miss Bustier for sneaking into class after the tardy bell. She dealt with the normal harassment from Chloe and irritation over her classmates and teachers blindly listening to Lila's lies; everyone but Adrien, of course. Sweet, loyal, handsome, brilliant Adrien.

Marinette had spent so much of that week wondering what to do as a gift for Chat Noir, she didn't realize how little time she had left to pick out Adrien's gift. He was simple though, she had an entire trunk filled with gifts for him. She just needed to sort out which one she wanted to give him this year. It helped get her through the day to imagine the beaming smile on Adrien's face as he opened up her present. He may just fall in love with her then and there if she picked out the perfect one to give him next week. She fantasized about that during her walk home and through her homework, which, arguably, took longer to accomplish due to said daydreaming.

With her daily duties taken care of, she knelt by her trunk, opened it up, started pulling out various sweaters and hats and mittens, and then her phone buzzed. An akuma was attacking the west end of Paris. Grumbling about the interruption, Marinette quickly transformed and headed towards the Champs-Élysées.

She heard the screaming first, and then had to quickly dodge a car flung through the air. Adjusting her trajectory, Ladybug swung so she was on a roof behind the akumatized villain. It was a hulking man nearly four meters tall. He was covered head to toe in green fur, and his upper body was built like a barrel of muscle. Shreds of a Victorian-era caroling costume hung off his shoulders and his pants were ripped where his legs clearly grew upon getting his powers.

“No Christmas!” the villain yelled as he stripped lights from a nearby storefront, and used them as a whip to lasso a decorated tree. With a big yank, he pulled the spruce from the ground, and he hurled it towards a crowd of shoppers trying to escape.

Ladybug sprung into action and lassoed the tree herself, swinging it away from the civilians and into a brick wall.

“Ladybug!” A chorus of people cheered as they pointed towards her. She quickly swung down to the sidewalk and shooed them away.

The green monster roared at her, picked up a plastic Santa statue, and hurled it at Ladybug. She easily blocked it with her yo-yo, then skirted behind the villain again. Sliding between his massive legs, she effortlessly tangled the villain up in her yo-yo and hurled him into an empty store. Slamming the door shut, she blocked it with one of the uprooted trees.

“Hopefully that will slow you down for a minute.” She looked up and down the street for more shoppers evacuating. There was chaos. The streets were already flooded with Parisians out shopping for Christmas, but hoards of tourists were there too. It would certainly be a hard battle to keep everyone safe while the villain raged in such a crowded location. “Where are you, Chat Noir?”

She checked her yo-yo, and once again there weren't any messages. She also didn't see him on her map. He wasn't powered up yet. She'd have to do the evacuation on her own. Sprinting up and down the street, she checked each storefront to make sure they were empty. Behind her, she heard the akuma roar again as he burst through the door.

That didn't last nearly as long as I would have hoped. Ladybug silently cursed. She glanced past her shoulder and saw the monster again tearing lights off the storefronts and destroying every last Christmas decoration. He barely moved from the empty store he had crashed out of. This could work, Ladybug thought. If he's that distracted by all the decorations, he might stay up where it's evacuated. I just need to watch for- She ducked under another Christmas tree aimlessly thrown down the street.

She checked the next half-dozen stores from each side of the street. They were either already clear or the last citizens were just leaving as she reached them.

Then she saw him.

Ladybug had caught up with the tail end of the escaping mob, and they stampeded past a blonde boy coming out of a jewelry store. As the crowd cleared the storefront, the boy was on his hands and knees, and looking quite distraught. Ladybug instantly recognized the swoop of his blonde locks, the slight rosy blush on his milky cheeks, and the blue knitted scarf wrapped around his neck.

“A-Adrien?” Ladybug swung across the street and landed beside him. She quickly glanced back to see how far away the villain was. They were safe, but she wasn't sure for how long. “A-are you alright?”

“L-Ladybug?” Adrien jumped a little as he noticed her beside him.

“Are you hurt?” He had been nearly trampled by that crowd, and he was on the ground now. She quickly circled him as she scanned for any injuries. Her cheeks warmed as she grew nervous that she wasn't able to protect him, and now he was hurt, and he'd hate her forever, and never consider her a hero again, and she'd forever lose her chance with him – not like she had a chance with him as Ladybug anyway since he could never know who she was, but-

“N-no, I'm fine.”

She let out a long sigh and rested a hand on her chest to try to will her heart to calm down. “What are you doing here? You need to find somewhere safe right away. There's an akuma on the loose!”

“I-” His eyes dropped to his closed left hand, and then to the sidewalk.

Ladybug's gaze followed Adrien's. There were four golden rings scattered on the ground in front of him. One had an emerald with three rubies in a tiny triangle on either side. Another had small diamonds encrusting one side, and onyx on the other in an almost yin-yang pattern where they met at the middle. A third had grains of garnet and emerald embedded in the band in an alternating pattern with obsidian in between each gemstone. The fourth ring had garnet and onyx lining the golden band in an almost ladybug-like pattern. The thought made her blush a little as she quickly scooped them up and passed them over to Adrien.

He opened his hand to accept the rings, and the one he was already holding had a large princess-cut ruby in the center, surrounded by a frame of emeralds. It must have been unbelievably expensive, and it almost looked like an engagement ring. Ladybug's cheeks burned a bit hotter, and her eyes stung slightly.

“What pretty rings.” She forced a small smile as she swallowed down the knot in her throat. I wish they were for me. She choked down another sob and forced her smile to grow as she handed the other four rings over. This person must be very important to him to spend so much.

“Oh...” Adrien let the word hang in the thick air between them. “Yeah...” He wouldn't look her in the eyes as he pulled the hand filled with rings close to his chest.

“Anyway!” Ladybug refocused. It didn't matter who those rings were for. What mattered was that there was a rampaging akuma just up the street, and Adrien was still in danger. “You need to get somewhere safe. Chat Noir and I will handle this.”

“Yeah.” Adrien shifted awkwardly to his feet as he put the rings and their respective boxes back into the bag from the jeweler.

Giving Adrien one last smile, she sprinted towards the villain; hoping her love would be alright, and that Chat Noir would show up to help soon.

Her partner did indeed show up just as she reached the rampaging akuma, and they were able to stop him not long after. It was a hard battle though; both her and Chat Noir either dodged a lot of heavy things hurled at them, or were tossed around themselves. The suit protected Ladybug from injury, but it was still exhausting work. It didn't help that Chat Noir still didn't seem himself, but Ladybug had her own problems. She just didn't have the energy to try to talk to him about the birds from the night before, or the hens the day before that. They barely had the time left in their transformations anyway, so they had a halfhearted fist bump and went their separate ways.

The second Ladybug got home she dropped onto her bed in a flop, and grabbed hold of her pillow to muffle her sobs as her superhero costume vanished.

“Marinette? Are you okay?” Tikki, weak but still filled with concern, drifted closer to her bearer.

Above Marinette the sky darkened, and below her the gifts to Adrien were forgotten across her floor. It wouldn't matter anyway. Nothing she'd give him could possibly turn his eye away from a woman he cared for so deeply he bought her five gorgeous and expensive looking rings.

Marinette cried herself to sleep, and dreamt of standing outside a cathedral during Adrien's wedding to a mysterious faceless woman.

A c.1600 word smutty interlude with Mikaeïl before the story continues properly next week! Got to get to that murder mystery dinner after all! I did include one or two little breadcrumbs in there though... little snippets of information about him :).

Mikaeïl took your hand and led you upstairs, offering to take your bag for you which you gladly turned over to him. Your cheeks were flushed and your heart thudded in your ears. After being together for a few weeks now this was the most worked up he’d allowed himself to get, and you were curious to see where it led.

He glanced back over his shoulder at you and smiled in a way that made your blood rush southwards and you laughed. He knew what he was doing. “Careful,” you chided him but he only broadened his smile.

At the top of the staircase, he paused and said, “Would you like your own room while you’re here, or would you prefer to use mine?”

“Whatever you’d feel most comfortable with, I guess,” you said. You stepped closer to him and put your hands on his narrow hips, unsure which of you you were steadying with that touch. “I know this isn’t always easy for you,” you added quietly.

His golden eyes flared, pupils widening, and he snaked one arm around your waist, drawing you right against his slim, lean body and kissing you hard. “I’m not sure what I did to deserve you,” he growled softly between kisses.

“How d’you think I feel then?” you laughed and he shook his head gently and smiled.

It was immediately obvious that the bedroom to which he showed you was his own, and though it was as neat and ordered as the rest of his large house, it had more character. There were bookshelves with well-thumbed paperbacks and photographs in tarnished silver frames, and a battered old Persian rug that didn’t really fit the decor but which clearly meant something to him. There were two doors in the wall opposite the bed, but they were both pulled shut.

You glanced at him as he set your bag down beside his bed with its comfortable looking, charcoal-grey duvet, and grinned when you saw the tent in his trousers still. He caught you looking and rolled his eyes.

“You want a tour?” he asked.

“Bed…” you said, pointing at it, “The rest can wait…”

He crossed back over to you and kissed you fondly, backing you down onto that bed, and once he’d got you there, he slid his hands under your top and began to undress you, leaving kisses and affectionate nips on every exposed inch of your skin he could find. You gasped as he pinched and tugged on a nipple, and then lowered his lips to bite and then suck you gently until your skin prickled and throbbed.

The hard length of him ground into you as he rocked slowly against you, and you reached your hands up into his fiery red hair and undid the scruffy bun. It was more akin to the rumbling of an alligator, or the passing of a train in the distance. It spoke of his heritage, and it made you ache once again to see him in his wyvern form.

He brought you back to the moment, however, when he drew away, kneeling on one side of you, removed his circular glasses and set them neatly on the bedside table, and then began to undo the buttons of his crisp shirt. His breathing was rapid and shallow, and his cat-like eyes were blown wide with arousal. Instead of looking cute, however, he looked like a predator, ready to spring, and you shivered under the weight and presence of that gaze.

As he slid back the fabric of his shirt, you gasped.

Beneath, his skin was not the same glacially pale colour that his face and arms were, but he was covered in a glittering mass of coppery scales in the hues of a vibrant sunset.

“Mikaeïl,” you breathed in wonder, half sitting up and placing your palm on his torso. As your hand connected with his body, he tilted his head back, his long hair falling right down his spine through the gateway made by his ruby-red horns, and his breath hitched audibly. “You’re stunning…”

Shyly, he smiled and pushed himself off the bed, stepping out of the rest of his clothes until he was perfectly naked in front of you. His cock, which stood proud, the tip almost touching his lower abdomen, was ridged and flushed, twitching occasionally as you continued to stare at him with wide, amazed eyes.

You raised one arm to get him to come back to the bed, but he seemed almost embarrassed. Deciding to take the wordless option, it was you who pounced when he reached you. You laid him onto his back and watched him slowly unravel beneath your touch.

You reached for the palm of his right hand as it sat in a tight fist beside his glittering hips, and he jerked when he saw what he looked like. “Do you mind?” he slurred. “I’m not sure I can shift back just yet…”

“Of course I don’t mind,” you smiled. “I’ve been curious about your other form for a while.”

“Oh,” he said vaguely. “This isn’t my full wyvern form. It’s… we’re… my family are… ah… not now. Please, not now… please…” he broke off into a string of words that didn’t make much sense as you gently rolled his balls in your hand and stroked his cock with your other.

A moment later you were working him in earnest with your mouth and hands, cheeks hollowed. He was gasping, his chest heaving, his spine arching off the bed as he fought not to come almost instantly. His thighs began to tremble and you felt his balls tighten right before he grunted, “I’m -”

The snow fell in feather-light flakes in the crisp winter air. Alice chewed her lip as she gazed at the historic building across the street, almost mystical in the snowfall. She walked back and forth by the bus stop, hesitating to cross the street. A dark blue bus pulled up to the stop, its sign flashing yellow. Several students descended and the driver waited to see if Alice would board. She shook her head, shaking flakes out of her pixie-cut. The driver shrugged, closed the door, and drove off.

“What are you doing?”

Alice jumped at the voice. Sharp yet sweet, like a slice of key lime pie, with just a hint of caramel smoothness. She turned and plastered a huge smile on her face.

“Oh, hey, Rosalie!”

Rosalie Hale was one of Alice’s closest friends. The two had met freshman year signing up to assist with one of the many student theatre groups on campus. Rosalie, a Business major, wanted to get involved in marketing and Alice, who was studying Art and Design, was interested in assisting with designing posters or helping to paint sets.

“Don’t ‘hey, Rosalie,” me,” Rosalie retorted. “This is the third time this week I’ve caught you loitering out by the Law Quad.”

“Is it?”

“C’mon, Alice, something’s going on with you. And don’t just say you’re trying to plan out where to take grad photos because I know it’s something more than that.”

Alice quickly shut her mouth. That had been the excuse she was about to give. Everyone knew the Law Quad was in high demand for graduating seniors. In a few months, once the majority of winter was behind them and the temperature rose above freezing, Alice knew there’d be people crowding for the perfect cap and gown shot.

But that wasn’t the reason she’d spent more hours than she could count recently, wrapped up in her warmest--yet still fashionable--winter clothes and staring longingly at the gray stone arches. Alice heaved a sigh, her breath forming a tiny cloud in the wintry air.

“Okay. Fine. C’mon.”

Alice adjusted the strap of her cross-body bag and swung her scarf over her shoulder before leading Rosalie across the street. The two of them wandered into the Law Quad, looking more like Hogwarts at Christmas than it had any right to. Snow dusted the tops of the stone towers and turrets and coated the rooftops. Icicles hung from the mature trees like crystals. Students meandered through the Quad, ducking in and out of the grand arches, crossing pathways lined by Victorian-style street lamps. When they reached the door to the Law Library, Alice hesitated.

“Just don’t get me kicked out, okay?” The Law Library was notorious for having a strict no-talking policy.

“I won’t make a peep,” Rosalie said, her ruby lips curling into an intrigued grin.

They walked into the Reading Room, and no matter how many times Alice stepped foot inside there, she was always struck by its grandiose beauty and ambiance. The room was large and open, with a 10 story ceiling surrounded by beautiful stained glass windows bearing the seals of great universities around the world. The ceiling itself was intricately designed with squares of floral-like designs sculpted in gold. The Reading Room was illuminated with soft light from elegant two-tiered chandeliers, stylized to look like candles. Wooden shelves filled with legal books lined the long hall, interspersed with elaborate doorways and stonework. With finals fast approaching, students from all across campus crowded the oversized tables with curved reading lights, their books and notes stacked high. Anxious, academic energy crackled in the air. Alice walked down the aisle, Rosalie trailing at her side, until she came upon the third table from the back on the left. There, like he had been every day this week, sat a god.

A golden-haired young man with storm cloud eyes. Sculpted cheekbones and lips that Alice just knew were soft and kissable. A few strands of curly blond hair fell in front of his face as he pored over a thick tome, and the man pushed them out of his way with a flick of his long fingers. He was dressed in a knitted black sweater that complemented his tanned skin and accentuated his lean figure. His long legs were stretched out in front of him, crossed at the ankles.

Alice delicately pulled out the chair across from him, and slid into it as silently as she could manage. As she sat down, the man looked up from his book. His face lit up, eyes sparkling and lips stretching into a heart-stopping smile. Alice’s heart fluttered, and she returned his smile with an uncharacteristically shy grin. She opened up her bag and pulled out the textbook she kept in there for this exact purpose. She flipped through the pages until she came across the midnight blue bookmark denoting the last chapter she’d attempted to slog through. But before she could even attempt to read the first sentence, a crumpled piece of paper landed in front of her. Alice opened the note with excited fingers, her eyes eager for the words scrawled inside.

Art history again?

Alice’s mouth twitched. She scribbled a response on the paper, folded it up neatly, and passed it back across the table.

Yeah. My last final. I’ve been really slacking on the reading.

Maybe you know more than you think. You’ve been reading that book every time you’ve been in here.

Alice bit her lip. Had she done that? She’d meant to rotate her books, her excuses to be in his presence.

I keep getting distracted by the architecture. It’s just so beautiful in here.

It is. But if it keeps pulling your focus away from your studying, maybe you should try one of the less decorated spots on campus. Like Starbucks.

He shot her a smirk as he watched her read his words.

Never. I like the view here too much.

Rosalie surreptitiously watched the exchange from a table across the aisle, quirking an eyebrow when Alice flushed scarlet and covered her mouth to hold in a giggle. She narrowed her eyes further as the note passing spanned a whole page. Then a second. Then a third. She didn’t think either of the two had touched their books in a while. Pursing her lips, Rosalie rose to her feet and sauntered back over to Alice’s table. Alice didn’t even notice her approach, she was too engrossed in whatever she was writing. Rosalie tapped her on the shoulder and crossed her arms. Alice gave her a sheepish grin, hurriedly wrote one final message, and passed the note to the blond-haired guy. He glanced it over, and the good-natured smile seemingly glued to his face fell ever so slightly. He gave Alice a wave as she stood, returned her book to her bag, and hoisted it over her shoulder. Alice returned his wave with her own, then tripped over her feet as Rosalie grabbed her by the elbow and dragged her to the exit.

As soon as they were back outside, Rosalie spun on Alice.

“Okay, spill. Who was that guy?”

Alice’s voice took on a dreamy tone. “Jasper Whitlock, first year law student. He’s originally from Texas and he went to Rice, majored in Political Science and History. He’s got a younger brother who’s studying Engineering at Rice now, and a little sister who’s in her senior year of high school. He likes horseback riding, Mexican food, and horror movies.”

“Wow, Alice, did you stalk the guy?”

A rosy blush colored Alice’s cheeks. “No. We passed notes. And then I Facebook stalked him.”

Rosalie snorted. “You’re crushing on him hard.”

“Except I haven’t said a word to him!” Alice cried, dragging her hands over her face. “I came to the Law Library to sketch last week--you know how I feel about Gothic architecture--and he was just there! Sitting at that table all gorgeous and studious. I don’t know how I worked up the nerve to pass him that first note, I swear my hands were shaking the whole time. But I’ve never actually spoken with him, like, words out loud, you know?”

“And he’s never tried to follow you out of the library to actually speak with you?”

“Nope.”

“Hm. He loses a few points for that. But maybe he’s just shy.”

“How could anyone that looks like that be shy? He probably just doesn’t like me.”

“Oh, he likes you, Alice. Trust me.”

“You don’t know that.” Alice whined.

“Did you not see the look he gave you? Like you were the sun and he was a mere flower. He bloomed in your presence. And practically wilted when you left.”

“I don’t know, Rose...”

Rosalie spun on her heels to stop and face Alice. She reached down to place her perfectly manicured hands atop Alice’s shoulders.

“Alright. Here’s what we’re gonna do. Tomorrow, we’re gonna dress you up and make you look so goddamn gorgeous, that he’ll follow you outta there like a little lovesick puppy.”

Early the next morning--earlier than Alice would’ve liked--Rosalie was in her apartment, clucking her tongue as she parsed through Alice’s wardrobe. Alice sat on the edge of her bed, rubbing sleep out of her eyes. Rosalie had roped their friend Bella into the scheme, and the brunette was sitting next to Alice, almost as tired as she was, her head falling onto Alice’s shoulder every now and then.

“You owe me Starbucks for this,” Bella mumbled.

“Yeah, Rose,” Alice agreed. “Jasper doesn’t usually make it into the Law Library until after 11.”

“Which means we only have four hours to get you looking jaw-droppingly sexy,” answered Rosalie. She picked out a black dress that was way too short given the current temperatures, shook her head, and returned it to the closet.

“At least she’s keeping in mind the weather,” Bella muttered under her breath.

Bella was the most practical out of the three girls. She and Alice had met in their first year English class and had become fast friends. It had taken some time for Bella and Rosalie to warm up to each other--Bella had a knee-jerk response to anyone involved in a sorority. But after Rosalie had chewed out a sleaze-ball who’d attempted to run his hand up Bella’s skirt while the three were out dancing one night, the two had forged a tight bond.

“Okay, how about this,” said Rosalie as she held up two hangers. In one hand was a black pencil skirt. In the other was a silk purple blouse with a deep V-neck. It was long-sleeved with bunching at the wrist. “Some tights, your black pumps and--”

“I’ll look like a librarian,”

“A sexy librarian,” Rosalie corrected, but she returned the items to the closet.

“We’re trying to get this Jasper’s attention, right?” asked Bella.

Alice nodded.

“Well then, what do we know about him? What does he like?”

“Ooh, good idea Bella. Alice, has Jasper ever looked at you more than usual or in a different way? And what were you wearing when he did?”

“Um, not that I can remember...”

“Does he have a favorite color?” Bella offered.

Alice straightened, like a jolt of electricity had run through her body. Her eyes sparkled and she grinned with exuberance. She hopped off the bed and rushed over to her closet, pushing aside dresses and sweaters with ferocity until she found what she was looking for. She pulled the emerald green sweater dress out of the closet and held it out in front of her proudly. Though unassuming on the hanger, it clung to her body like a second skin. It had a scooped neckline, which artfully showed off her delicate collarbones, and an intricate knitted design.

“Green,” she said with a joyful smile.

“Girls, I don’t know if I can do this,” said Alice, clutching the front of her black peacoat with white knuckles.

“Alice, you look beautiful,” Rosalie assured her.

“Yeah, it’s going to be fine! You’ve got this!” Bella encouraged.

Once the emerald dress had been decided upon, Alice had spent the next few hours under Rosalie’s direct care. She’d picked out a pair of black leggings, as well as a pair of black booties, plus the black peacoat with silver buttons to complete the look. Bella had chosen the knitted white beret style hat that hung loosely off the back of Alice’s head, displaying her dark hair with contrast. Alice’s hair normally stuck out in all directions, but Rosalie had coaxed the energetic strands into becoming tendrils. Rosalie was an artist with makeup, and had accentuated Alice’s features without overpowering her. Black eyeliner and mascara heightened Alice’s doe-like eyes, and the silver eyeshadow shimmered with every blink. Alice’s cheekbones were highlighted and dusted with a soft pink blush. Alice had always thought her lips were small--just like the rest of her--but Rosalie had worked her magic and now the lips, painted cherry-red, appeared pouty and full. Bella had talked Alice through exactly what she was going to say to Jasper, filling her up with self-confidence. She gave advice to Alice on how to win over Jasper with her words, not just her looks.

Now, the three of them were standing in front of the entrance to the Law Library. Alice’s knees knocked together. Rosalie and Bella were on either side of her, practically pushing her in.

“You know, I think I might be coming down with something, I’ve been standing in the cold too long, maybe I should go home and we could try this another day--”

“Uh-uh, no way!” Rosalie stopped Alice from running away and turned her right back towards the Law Library. “We did not give up valuable finals studying time for you to back out now. You are going to go in there, and you are not coming back out until you have a date!”

Rosalie shoved Alice forward, causing the shorter girl to almost trip. Alice recovered and gathered herself with a determined puff of air. She brushed a stray curl out of her eyes, rolled her shoulders back, and strode into the Law Library with as much confidence as she could muster.

As expected, Jasper was there, seated at his usual spot. He was surrounded by piles of books, and hunched over a thick notebook. He looked very focused and very hot. Alice closed her eyes, thought back on everything Rosalie and Bella had said to her that morning, and began to walk towards Jasper’s table.

He heard her approach--the clicks of her black boots echoed in the silent hall--and glanced up from his notebook. At first, he gave her his usual genteel grin, but then Alice watched his eyes widen and his lips part as he took in her appearance. Alice slowly undid the buttons of her coat, feigning nonchalance as best she could. She shrugged the coat off her shoulders, and Jasper gasped. The big reveal, Rosalie had called it.

Alice slowly sunk into the chair, smoothing her dress as she sat down. Gracefully, she extracted the small notebook and ballpoint pen she’d hidden in her coat pocket. Her heart was beating a mile a minute but she forced herself to appear calm as she placed the notebook on the table, flipped open the metallic golden cover, and began to write out the words she, Rosalie, and Bella had planned.

I’ve really enjoyed our chats over the last week, but I’d much prefer to actually speak in person. I like you a lot, Jasper, and I want to get to know you better. Grab a coffee with me?

With a final flourish of her pen, Alice tore out the sheet of paper, folded it, and tossed it over to Jasper, who hadn’t taken his eyes off of her since she sat down. The note landed in the center of his notebook.

Jasper blinked dumbly at the sound of the paper hitting his book. He glanced away from Alice and nimbly unfolded the note. He smiled as he began to read it, and Alice’s heart skipped a beat. But then an odd expression came over his face. His smile fell. His jaw dropped. His eyes became pitying, disbelieving.

Alice felt her heart sink into her stomach.

He didn’t like her.

Feeling tears well up in her eyes, Alice haphazardly threw on her coat and hastily stuffed her notebook and pen back into her pockets. Biting her lip, she ran out of the Law Library as fast as she could.

She burst out into the Quad, her face stinging in the cold. Rosalie and Bella were waiting by the door for her, but she ran past them, ignoring their perplexed faces and questioning calls. She couldn’t talk to them right now. She wanted to run back home and hide under her comforter, forgetting every foolish action she’d taken today.

“Stupid, stupid, stupid,” she muttered under her breath.

“Hey, Alice, wait!”

Alice turned as a charmingly accented voice with just a hint a twang called her name. Jasper was running after her, his unbuttoned coat flying open in the wind. Alice tried to hide her gape as she took in Jasper. She knew he was tall, but she hadn’t realized he was quite this tall. He towered over her by over a foot at least. Alice sniffed and wiped away the few tears that had fallen.

“It’s okay, Jasper, you don’t have to humor me.”

“What are you talking about?”

“I saw how you looked at me in there. It’s clear you don’t like me the way that I like you. And that’s fine! I’m fine! I--”

“Alice, what?”

“--really, you don’t need to let me down easy or anything, I got it, and--”

“Alice.” Jasper’s tone became more pleading. “I was just a little taken aback, is all. You surprised me.”

Alice’s breath caught. “I...surprised you?”

The edges of Jasper’s lips turned up. “Yeah. I’ve been working up the nerve to ask you out all week and you beat me to it.”

Alice’s mouth fell open. Her brain was a mess of white noise as she attempted to process his words

“You...you like me?”

It was Jasper’s turn to blush.

“But you never...I mean...all this time...and the way you are I...” Alice stammered.

“My apologies for not speaking up sooner. But I’ve never,” Jasper hesitated, “I’ve never felt like this before. The words we shared on those scraps of paper weren’t much, but they meant everything to me. I’ve actually been coming to the Law Library every day, hoping you’d return,” he added with a bashful grin.

Alice gave a little start. He’d been doing that, too?

“I’m not good at expressing my feelings,” Jasper continued, running his fingers through his long blond locks, “but I felt a connection with you right away. I just didn’t know how to deal with it, cause it’s been so long since I’ve felt anything close to that. I’ve had some pretty messed up relationships in the past,” he said with a sheepish shrug of his shoulders.

“I don’t understand,” said Alice. “If you felt like this, why didn’t you say anything? Why did I have to do all this,” she motioned to her outfit, “to get you to come outside with me?”

“I came outside cause I could tell I’d upset you. And that ain’t right. I only ever want to see you smile.”

Alice flushed. Jasper took a slow step closer to her. Alice was struck again by his imposing stature. He had to duck and push snowy branches out of his way to get to where Alice was standing. And yet, with the way he was gazing at her, Alice didn’t feel small at all. In fact, she felt terribly emboldened by his adoring look.

“So it’s not cause I look amazingly sexy?” Alice teased.

Jasper chuckled. “You look beautiful today, really you do. But I think you look beautiful every day.”

Alice giggled, and her cheeks turned pink with new warmth. “So about that coffee,” she said, a hint of coyness slipping into her tone.

Jasper smiled sweetly. “I’d like that, ma’am.”

He took her hand, and Alice was surprised to find how well hers fit in his. Like they were made for each other, despite the height difference. Warmth raced through her body as he interlaced their fingers and gently ran his thumb over her skin. Alice hummed contentedly, and nestled into Jasper’s side. Another perfect fit.

B/F/N: Best Friend

"That includes class today. Make sure you turn in the book project by Friday. Have a good day." said the English teacher, Ms. Jada and the school bell rang.

It was another Monday and currently you were in a hoodie with the hood on top of your head with leggings and your favorite vans on.

You decided to get a new hairstyle over the weekend and it didn't turn out the way you wanted.

"Y/N, as your boyfriend, I need to know what's going on with you." said Ruby as he walked up and stood next to you as you were picking your things up.

"I'm fine okay? I know you're been worrying about me all day but I'm just really stressed about school, okay?" you said while putting all of your school supplies it on your left arm to carry. You quickly left the classroom, leaving a concerned Ruby.

You're afraid of how everybody would react to your hair, especially Ruby, because he may break up with you.

You walked out of the classroom until you were greeted with a hug that surprised you.

"Hi B/F/N." you said with a smile and hug them back after you figure out who was hugging you at the moment.

"Heyyy." said B/F/N and she ended the hug and both of you walked together to your locker.

You unlocked your locker and opened it to get your supplies for next class while B/F/N leaned against the lockers next to you.

"You got your hoodie on your head. What's going on?" asked B/F/N, knowing you have something going on when you have your hoodie on.

"Nothing." you said as you grab your supplies for biology and shut your locker.

"Come on." said B/F/N as they started to pull on your right hand with theirs. You groaned in annoyance as both of you walked into the bathroom and the school bell rang again signaling the next class was starting.

"You're going to tell me now what’s going on or we are not leaving this bathroom." said B/F/N as she looks in front of you with her arms crossed against her chest.

You groaned again and hesitated to tell her or not. A moment later, you pull down your hoodie and B/F/N gasped at the sight.

You have a ombré of your favorite color and your regular hair color in a cute pixie hairstyle.

Jasmine started to walk out of a bathroom stall but stopped and stepped back when she saw you and B/F/N in the bathroom.

Jasmine still tries to get with Ruby after you got into a relationship with him. She tries to find ways to get underneath your skin so she can have him to himself but hasn't been successful.

Now seeing your new hairstyle, she thinks this is the way to get Ruby for herself.

"It's horrible isn't it?" you said, looking down to the bathroom floor.

"No, it isn't! It's really cute! You look like a freaking celebrity!" said B/F/N with a smile. She lifts your head back up and starts to touch your hair to fix it a bit.

"Really?" you said looking at her and B/F/N turns your body to face the bathroom mirror.

"You look good, honey. I don't know why you're hiding it." said B/F/N as she looked through the bathroom of them and you. You put your head down again and turn your body to face her.

"Ruby. I don't think he would like me after this" you said and you look down again in sadness because you don't want your best relationship ever to end like this.

"Y/N, are you serious right now?" asked /F/N and you look back up at her.

"That boy is into you. Deep!" said B/F/N with a smile and you started to blush.

"I've never seen anybody look at you the way Ruby does. I bet he would like you even more with that hairstyle." said B/F/N answering your future question you were about to ask.

"Thanks B/F/N." you said and hugged her and she immediately hugged you back.

Jasmine quickly put hand sanitizer on her hands and she quickly ran out of the bathroom so both of you won't notice.

After the hug, you turned your body back to the mirror to look at your hairstyle.

"I'm not ready to share with everybody." you said and you put your hoodie back on your head again with your free right hand and both of you walked to class.

An hour later, you and B/F/N sit down at the table with the core four and Jasmine.

"Jamal. Switch seats with me." whispered Jasmine to Jamal.

"Why? I wanna sit next to Y/N." said Jamal and Jasmine gave him a serious face. Jamal rolled his eyes and they both switched seats ending Jasmine right next to you and Ruby sitting on the other side of you.

"Y/N, are you okay now?" asked Ruby, looking at you with concerned eyes. Jasmine rolled her eyes as you turned your head to look at him.

"Yeah. I'm fine. Thanks for your concern. B/F/N made me feel better." you said with a warm smile and your eyes shifted to B/F/N and she gave you a smile back as she was eating some fruit.

"Awe, But I wanted to make you feel better." said Ruby with an upset face and you smile. You kiss his cheek which caused him to look at you again.

"As long you're with me, you make me better." you said as you caress his cheek softly as you look into his eyes.

Ruby smiled at you and he closed his eyes and started to lean in to kiss you and you started to lean in too. The moment got ruined in one moment.

Jasmine quickly pulled your hoodie off and everybody at the group gasped. You heard their gasps and you slowly backed up from Ruby as you felt your hoodie off.

You quickly put your head on top of your head to try to cover your head and you start to turn red in embarrassment.

As you were going through the most embarrassing moment of your life right now, Jasmine was chucking underneath her breath knowing she's going to get Ruby for herself in the next few minutes.

"Y/N, when did you go Jennifer Lawrence?" asked Monse, looking at you weirdly and Cesar hit her left arm with his right arm to shut her up, making Monse offended and furious.

"What? I'm just asking." whispering Monse to Cesar and Jasmine start to laugh a bit louder. Jamal turns to Jasmine and looks at her crazy.

"What is wrong with you?" asked Jamal, looking at Jasmine and she quickly stopped laughing and became serious.

"Y/N, whatever happened to your hair, it's okay. It will grow back." said Jasmine as she touched your right shoulder and looked at you trying to be fake supportive and concerned. "Not."

You heard Jasmine's last words and you quickly grabbed your purse that was in front of you and quickly got up and ran away.

"Y/N!" shouted Ruby but you ignore him and continue running in embarrassment. Jasmine smirked knowing she ended your relationship with Ruby.

"So Ruby, how about we hang out today? Preferably at my house, alone?" asked Jasmine after she scoots closer to Ruby. Ruby slowly turns to Jasmine and looks at her crazy.

"Are you serious right now?!" shouted Ruby angrily and stood up at his seat which everybody at the table was shocked and scared by his response.

You know you did completely wrong when Ruby starts to get angry and it turns scary around everybody.

"You're just hurting my princesa hermosa! Just so you can have me for yourself! That's not attractive to me or to any other guy!” shouted Ruby furiously and Monse covered her mouth in shock with Jamal the same reaction.

"Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to go find my princesa." said Ruby and he got himself out from the lunch table and started to jog back inside the cafeteria to start finding you.

"Wow. Y'all was right. She's loyal." said B/F/N looking at the rest of the core four while Jasmine gave her an angry face.

"Don't start now. Cause I'm willing to beat your a*s right now after what you did!" shouted B/F/N as she got up and turned her hands into fits and stands in a fighting pose towards Jasmine.

"Y/N? Are you in here?" asked Ruby after he knocked on the girls bathroom three times on the second floor of the school.

You were sitting back against the bathroom door inside crying and you lift your head from your hands after hearing your sweet boyfriend's voice.

"Ruby?" you said quietly but Ruby heard you. He finally found you after searching for you for five minutes around the school.

"Can you please come out, princesa?" asked Ruby and you start to think and hesitate if you should or not.

You got off of the bathroom floor, wiped your tears from your eyes and tried to fix yourself to look presentable so he wouldn't think you were crying.

You open the bathroom door slowly and you see Ruby with a concerned face. You got out and closed the door slowly and leaned against it as you looked at him.

"I guess you're here to break up with me. Don't worry, you can go back and be with your real girlfriend." you said and looked down to your feet.

"Y/N! No! Why would I break up with you?" asked Ruby to bring your face back up so you are looking at him.

"Cause I look like a boy. I don't have my hair no more." you said and you look down on the floor not wanting to look into his eyes.

"Y/N, look at me." said Ruby and then you slowly lifted your eyes back to his eyes.

"Short hair, tattoos, piercings, bigger body, small boobs, big foreheads, small lips, and more insecurities girls have don't change the fact that I like you Y/N. I'm falling in love with you more everyday but today seeing your new hairstyle makes me fall for you even more." said Ruby looking deep into your eyes as he got closer and closer to you.

"Really?" you said as tears start to appear on your eyes again.

It's one of the things you fell deep for him. He always knows how to make you feel better and feel good about yourself.

Ruby nodded and then he wiped a tear that was coming down your left cheek with his right hand and started to caress it after dinner.

You give Ruby a grin and Ruby slowly kisses you. He slowly pulls you closer by pulling your waist to his.

It wasn't just a regular kiss. The kiss felt like it has meaning and it does. Ruby actually wants to be with you and he felt like this was the perfect moment to tell you.

"Y/N..." said Ruby as he separates from your lips and looks at you. You start to look at his eyes again after you reopen your eyes from the kiss.

"I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying with you, whether you like it or not." said Ruby and you giggled at him.

"I'm serious. Whatever we have a fight or have different feelings about each other, I'm going to stay and maybe someday...put a ring on your finger." said Ruby as he pulled you closer to him.

"Yeah, Ruby, that's a lot to think about right now." you said as you thought about the future right now and look at him with your eyes wide.

"What's wrong thinking about it now? We can plan it early. I'll go with any color except beige. That color, I can't stand." said Ruby with a disgusted face which made you giggled.

You lean in and give him a sweet kiss that he returns back. The school bell rings again and that ends the kiss.

"School always ruins moments." you said with your arms crossed and with an upset face which made Ruby chuckled underneath his breath.

"Would you accept me to take you to class, princesa?" asked Ruby as he backed up and held his right hand out to you as he bowed down as a prince to a princess.

"Oh course." you said and you took his hand and started to walk to your next class in happiness showing everybody your new hairstyle out with everybody with your sweet boyfriend on your side.
