I love how ML-universe Veronique managed to crank out five entire, perfectly accurate wax figures of the last new heroes in what? Only a few weeks? Yet the team hasn’t released official renders for them in the last seven months

So Determination has already started to sink my hopes, seeing as how Chloé literally berated Ladybug for losing the miraculous and indirectly caused another akuma out of pettiness and jealousy, but I really do hope they don't go with the predictable route and have Lila easily manipulate her now that they are supposed to be allies.

The thing is, their whole villainous team-up is a great chance to explore Chloé's character beyond the rich spoiled brat aspect of her personality the show's been reinforcing for most of its run. I'm not saying they try to redeem her—that ship has regrettably obviously sailed at this point—, but it'd be good if they went back to the characterisation she was given in seasons 2 and 3 when her time being Queen Bee proved she can actually be rather resourceful and competent when she puts her mind to it.

Which are qualities she will need if we hope to see something interesting out of her little alliance with Lila.

Personally, I think it would be very compelling if Chloé never really stopped suspecting Lila after the secret formula to call Ladybug fiasco. Or at least if the writers kept that aspect of their relationship consistent and didn't sweep it under the rug now. 

As @nobodyfamousposts ‘s posts have proven, I might be setting myself up for disappointment with that one.

If you think about it, after season 3 Chloé has, objectively, no reason to like or trust Lila. Nor does she have a reason to understand why she (Lila) would want to ally herself with her, of all people.

During Miraculer Chloé was about to discover Lila is a liar and a fraud and call her out on the fake secret formula she gave her. And she would have learned the truth hadn't Lila been quick enough to point out Ladybug did come to her, which was the whole point of the stupid dance she made her perform anyways.

What does that tell us?

Just like everyone else, Chloé is under the impression that Lila is either best friends with Ladybug, or at least in close contact with her.

With that in mind, why should Chloé ally herself with her after the events of Miracle Queen? More importantly, everyone knows Chloé no longer stands Ladybug, so why would her supposed best friend want anything to do with her?

One could argue their alliance is actually against Marinette, someone whom Lila all but admitted to hate back in Penalteam (but let's be real, she was clearly referring to both Marinette and Ladybug). And while Chloé clearly has a bone to pick with Marinette, from her perspective...Lila has absolutely no reason to dislike her that much?

Because from Chameleon to Ladybug Lila has repeatedly made it so it appears obvious to everyone that the one holding a grudge is Marinette against her, while she seemingly acts like she respects and tries to be her friend just like everyone else in the class. With that in mind, Chloé should have no reason to believe Lila hates her too.

And here's where Chloé’s characterisation could benefit from!

Chloé got confirmation from Lila that she hates Marinette, meaning she's not quite the saint she makes herself out to be to their classmates. I believe it would be very interesting if Chloé were the one to realise how much of a liar she really is by pretending to be friends with her while she tries to expose her for intending to use her.

I mean, there is absolutely no way Chloé would just accept the mere idea of being used by someone. Her! Chloé Bourgeois manipulated by some nobody? Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous!

Who knows, it might even be satisfying and fun to watch if it's Chloé, of all people, who ends up exposing Lila for the liar she is. Because maybe Marinette will try to listen to Adrien's advice and take the high road. But Chloé? Yes, she's definitely that petty.

I don't know, maybe some less emotionally-driven, more objective analysts like @kisilinramblings​ will be able to come up with a more likely outcome, but I just feel that, despite of everything, Chloé’s character deserves better than to be reduced to being Lila's puppet.

Were you always going to give the ox miraculous to Ivan? Or did you get the idea from Penalteam?

"PenalTeam" came out first, which thank goodness cuz then I knew all the powers I'd have to work with.

But I didn't dole out Miraculouses to any of the remaining 6 until all the Miraculouses had been canon. So Mylene didn't get the Dog and Nathaniel didn't get the Goat until after "PenalTeam".

It wasn't set in stone that Ivan would get the Ox, but what WAS set in stone was that Ivan would get a Miraculous in "Party Crasher". I knew from the onset what episodes characters would be heroes in, so it was all about working backwards from there to figure out the best fit with the powers.

Mild Spoilers for Scarlet Lady "Party Crasher" below, but,

In canon, the team had Carapace and his "Shell-ter" to buy them time to make a plan and protect them, but obviously in SL they don't have that since Nino uses the Fox Miraculous. A power that could protect the team was necessary and the only one really comparable was the Ox's "Resistance". Especially since the Rooster apparently can't copy the other powers.

Let's talk about why Miracle and Plague will be a short series and additionally why I chose to write out characters such as Kagami, Zoe, Felix (I'm sorry baby </3)

Miracle and Plague won't be very long. In fact, It will be twice as short as the canon, purely because I feel like the series lost that sparkle, that thing that really made it special somewhere in the season 3. All of it started feeling worn out, boring or just annoying. It's also when the decision to re-estate Chloe as a villain really took place, so I'm obviously very displeased with how the seasons went on, but It's not the only reason! Adrien's character got completely assasinated, replaced by 10 and more heroes. I really like the doubt arc they had going for him, but It was never actually memorable or so impactful. All the focus seemed to be on Marinette and her issues, but the character who's the closest to the main villain, the one with a ton of their own insecurities to be explored was pushed aside. To add to that, the newer heroes were becoming boring or just straight up made me sigh when Ladybug needed to go get someone to help. Don't even get me started on the mass-hero episodes like Partycrusher or Penalteam. It was a lot squished together into 2 seasons where If not for the miraculous reveal, It would've been nothing short of a filler episode.

I feel like not adding too many plotlines, characters is simply a better idea. It'll ensure that all the existing ones will be explored to their best potential. Adrien's family story, Chloe's character, Chloe and Sabrina's relationship, Jiayi and Lila's relationship/rivalry, Alya's hero potential, Lila's urge for chaos, Monarch/Gabriel's motivation, Master Fu's backstory, possible expansion of Wonders - these are very good plotlines! Not even mentioning the side/less important plots like Luka and Jiayi's past, Unicorn band, Juleka wanting to be a model, Juleka and Rose's plot, Alix's hidden Wonder, Natalie's crush on Gabriel, Adrien's self-discovery. There's a LOT of them already and to add like 10 more just because I want a new character would extend and complicate the plot further. Not that I wouldn't take the challenge, but I just want to see this series conclude in a way that in my opinion is more satisfying than whatever we're getting.

As for the characters I wrote out.. I think most of them already have a sort of pattern to them where you can tell why I removed them.

Zoe. Oh Zoe, the worst character I've had the displeasure of seeing on screen. I already reblogged plenty of content in regards to her, so I'll just refrain from writing a rant on that excuse of a character.

As much as I would've loved to keep Kagami (I still might), I really feel she wouldn't fit the narrtive so nicely. Of course, she appears in Riposte, but upon reviewing the timeline of MnP, that's literally the only episode she is taking an active part in as of today. I don't really see a reason to keep her in the lore If she'll appear once and never again, It feels a bit counterproductive, but like I said, I am still thinking about this one, because her and Adrien have so much potential in development; both coming from strict, cold households, both fencing... They do have quite a bit in common. Maybe If I just move Riposte to season 1....

Moving on to Felix, I believe I already mentioned that my first opinion of him was bitter. I didn't really like him being there and the fact that he look eerily like Adrien as If they'd reused his model was just weird (ig now we know WHY season 5 spoilers). Then, the opinion shifted to much better after mostly Emotion really and since then I really did like him, but... Looking at his journey from the end of season 3 to here and his role in the overarching plot I feel like he just wouldn't fit to MnP, not with the format I'm going for.

Besides, can I just mention how random it was that Emilie and Felix's mom look literally identical AND their sons look identical as well? It made me so confused when I first watched the episode lmao

Why I dislike Marc (and why Marcnath isn't my favorite Nathaniel ship)

I didn't feel any "hype" for Marc when he was first introduced. I only really like him in fanfics, but even then, I've only read one fanfic that has multiple long chapters where he's one of the main characters. He's just never interested me as a character. And I've been thinking about it for the past few days and I'm pretty sure I've figured it out: Marc doesn't feel like a full, individual character.

From his first introduction as a character, he's looking at Nath's art while writing. Then Marinette comes in and drags him to the art club. After that, she's the one to try and team them up. We only get to see him floundering around his crush and then crying after Nath confronts him (rightfully so). And then he's akumatized for the rest of the episode. We don't see him make many of his own choices until the end. It would've been nice to see him choose to go to the art club or make the choice to erase his name himself or something to give an insight into his character. In the ending, he leads his and Nathaniel's part of the conversation, which feels out of character for both of them (which I'll explain later). Throughout the episode, he came across as a somewhat cowardly personality, but now he's leading their speeches/conversations with ease. He's never been introduced as an individual with his personality up until Penalteam. In the episodes previous to that he only shows up when Nath's on screen.

Compare that to characters like Lila, Felix, or Luka. They all have defining character moments and can be seen as individuals outside of other characters in their very first episodes.

In Volpina, Lila is more than a liar. She's crafty, buying a necklace that looks just like a miraculous. She somehow deciphered enough of the Grimoire in a single afternoon to know what powers the fox miraculous has, compared to the literal years Gabriel owned the book. She told lies to her classmates that appealed to each of their individual interests. We know she's not easily forgiving, which makes sense. She was publicly humiliated in front of her celebrity crush and thrown in a fountain. We can tell what she's all about from just her introduction alone.

In Félix, we can immediately tell that he's a more serious counterpart to Adrien. Throughout the episode, he demonstrates his talents, pretending to be Adrien with enough accuracy to throw off his classmates he's spent nearly a full year around. He's great at fighting hand-to-hand, seeing as he fends off 3 akumas on his own. And we see at the end that he was willing to do everything he did because his mom wanted the twin rings. Keep in mind that we didn't even know why she wanted them at the time. With the context of S5 spoilers (cause I haven't watched an episode of s5 after Evolution), we know that it's where his Amok is hidden. So, he was willing to do all of that and still trusted his mother with his own amok. The point is that he's immediately set apart from Adrien. He's not just a swapped version of Adrien. We get the sense that he knows more than we're let on.

In Captain Hardrock, we're introduced to Luka, who's meditating, so we know he's someone who values calmness and (seeing how he wasn't with everyone else above deck) likes being alone. When he makes a joke, he immediately notices that it makes Marinette uncomfortable and apologizes. Later on in the episode, he immediately asks Ladybug if Marinette is okay, while no one else expresses the same sentiment. I can see this being an argument about his feelings for her, but I feel that it's just him having been in his head about everything going on. He has no clue that Marinette is safe and given that his mother is just destroying any bridge or noise-making venue she can see, he's just rightfully worried that some girl his sister is friends with might be hurt or dead. Overall, we can tell he's a good guy who's got a sort of chill personality

While I can say that Lila's a liar with good deduction skills, Luka's an outwardly calm guy who likes making jokes but knows when to back off, and Felix is a manipulative, martial artist mama's boy who knows way too much, I can't say much about Marc as an individual. The most I can say is he's a writer who isn't very confident in anything.

Except I can't because he immediately acts confident by the end of the episode while Nathaniel loses his own characterization and they become this weird hivemind with Marc at the forefront.

Speaking of Nathaniel, we get his whole personality from the beginning. In Evillustrator, he spaces out, writing his cringy superhero comic. When Chloe mocks his art, he defends himself and grabs his book. I think his walk of shame in that episode is misinterpreted as him being shy, but I don't think that's the case. In context, it looked more like he was just embarrassed that he got caught drawing a comic about his crush and sent it to the principal over it. Another character moment for him is in Rogercop, where he's once again caught with a drawing that could incriminate him. He defends himself immediately. Then, in Horrificator, he breaks from the group briefly to do something on his own, like investigating the good in the room. Even though seconds before that, he was initially horrified.

In Befana, he joins the group's efforts in both setting up Mar's birthday party and trying to apprehend the Akuma.

In Zombizou, he's seen being initially aggressive with another boy, and later in the episode, he breaks off from the group before they even leave the school (and if Asstruc's Twitter is to be believed, he managed to survive on his own).

In Despair Bear, Nathaniel is shown enjoying the party on his own to the side. Even though we know he's friends with Alix and some of the other classmates, he's alone and doesn't seem to mind. Actually, looking at any of the class hangouts, he always shows up with the rest of the class. He's just doing his own thing, watching everyone else.

Up until the End of Reverser, he's established as an artist who can and will defend himself and likes to do his own thing (even if it's reckless). He's a guy who's been bullied enough to resort to anger when his trust is broken as a first response, and seems to like going to social events, as long as he's not pressured to do anything he doesn't want to.

Comparing him in Despair Bear to Party Crasher though, he bails on Mylène with Marc and shows up to the party with Marc. He goes along with whatever Marc does. In Penalteam, he initially doesn't even want to join the class soccer game, yet he's dragged to the stadium by Marc cause that's what Marc wants to do. In the end, he joins the game with the other kids, though that's mostly from the influence of Ladybug and his earlier experience. Even in Gamer 2.0, he really wants to test Max's game, but Marc shuts it down when he asks. From previous character moments, it feels like that interaction should've played out differently. Nathaniel agrees immediately, but then Marc has to remind him that they have to meet an editor. That would've at least established a much-needed dynamic. Gabriel Agreste, Nathaniel is once again just waiting for his time to finish Marc's sentences.

Let's compare their 'dynamic' to the other queer couple in this show. Pulling from their Akuma episodes, Rose is shown to be an emotional girl with an optimistic and romantic view of life, while Juleka is shown to be more pessimistic, but still supportive of her girlfriend's viewpoints. These two are fun to watch, because Rose is loving and supportive of Juleka and tries to help her in Reflekta, and Juleka in turn seems to not mind Rose being emotional over Prince Ali and is even looking at her fondly while she does so. Compared to Julerose, it's kind of bland to watch Marcnath on screen together. Because they're always on the same page in a way that makes them a single, one-dimensional character. I prefer other ships, even though the rest aren't nearly as popular. Like Lukanath, or Ninath. As I said, Luka's the type of character who is in his head a lot and prefers solitude. Meanwhile, Nathaniel likes doing his own thing and can be a reckless person. They could play off each other well. Or with Ninath. Nino in s1 is a fun-loving dudebro who's a ride-or-die for all of his friends, but is also shown to do what he wants or thinks should be done without consulting others. I think it'd be cool to see where that friendship could've gone. We've seen them interacting in the background a few times (mostly in early seasons), one of the more recent episodes being Queen Banana. And in the official Alya Instagram post, they both seem to like indie movies and go to an event with a group. I wish we could see them interacting more.

I'm not saying all of this to make people hate Marc, but I am airing my personal gripes about his character. I'm not really attached to him and just kind of wanted to voice that. I also tried not to let my bias influence this post much. Here's a post on my old account of me analyzing him back in high school, I think. It's old, be warned.

With what little of what we saw of The Rooster Miraculous, we all assumed it’s power would be healing (to me at least) cuz when you’re feelin’ weak, you’d eat chicken soup and such, but Surprise! Surprise! It’s power is actually “whatever you want it to be”! Still not sure if this was a last minute entry on the writers part for it or if this was planned ahead, but I don’t know how this fits with the rooster!? The rooster represents pride, honesty, watchfulness and flamboyance. The power is still cool though, a free-will wish fulfillment for anyone with what they need like how Marc used it to help win the soccer/football game by wishing to “score every time he got the ball”! (“Penalteam”). Wait a minute! It grants you the power to have any power you want! ANY power you want! Sure Gabe/Monarch found out there were limitations to it (“Destruction”), but what if someone smarter were to use it for their advantage! Don! Don! Don! Let’s see:

*Pretention-So the captain of the Anti-Adrienette ship, Gabe, is not happy that his son is dating a “bakers daughter” cuz he and Tomoe promised that their children would end up together (“Protection”) and Gabe tried c*ckblocking (“Adoration”) and also how it’s interfering with their plans like how Marinette snuck into the Diamond Ball (“Emotion”). Maybe if he just talked to Marinette and get to know her better, he’d stop trying to shoot cannons at her ship! Marinette does idolize Gabe as she too wants to go into fashion, so that’s a good thing. He did like her hat design for Adrien to model at the fashion show (“Queen’s Battle Part 1:Style Queen”) and preferred her as Ladybug for Clara’s music video (“Frightningale”). With that, I’m sure he’ll be on board right?……riiiiiiiiiight? (awkward pause)

As for Gabes co-captain, Tomoe, she says she doesn’t need to control Kagami cuz she’s “obedient” enough even with a certain ring she wears. Kagami tries to tell her mother to stop resurfacing the Adrigami ship and before she could say anything else, Argos swoops in and kidnaps her……why!? Tomoe gets upset by this and is akumatized as Ikari Matagi Gozen! Which is basically her signature akumatized form except in this case, her car is transformed as a mechanical steed and she has a bow and arrow too. She’s also given The Rooster Miraculous power. Oh sh*t! She’s way smarter than Gabe! What power did she wish to have!? Super Smell!? Tbh, I thought it was dumb at first cuz with her blindness, her other senses are enhanced since she could hear (over the phone!) Gabe’s abnormal heartbeat (“Intuition”), so why would she use that power!? Even when akumatized you have no disabilities, so yeah, you get where I’m gettin’ at. Turns out, it was actually for her steed to track down Argos instead. Okay, yeah, that makes sense. Too bad it wasn’t much help cuz he figured a way around it. Eh.

The ship-to-ship combat battle rages on and here’s how it went down. With both ships anchored, a parley was established between Marinette and Gabe. Sadly, Adrien couldn’t be there to witness it as Gabe “ordered” him to stay away and that’s when Adrien noticed a strange feeling of this command (whispers) sentimonster. Anyway, they talked about the fashion industry and it’s here we see their differing view points on it. For Marinette, she creates to inspire and spread joy with everyone’s interests, but with Gabe, he creates to influence people into thinking his way is the “right” way and to follow suit. Conformist much!? That’s like manipulation! Course he’d know about that! He even tries to persuade Marinette he can give her her dream job if she just jumps ship! Marinette refuses to believe his bullsh*t theory, continues to sail on the S.S Adrienette and tells him that he and his pancakes can go f*ck themselves! 👏👏👏(cheers and applause with whistles). Pro:Badass gutsy move on her part for not surrendering, Con:She made things worse cuz that made Gabe wanna send Adrien to London! Don! Don! Don! Saw how that turned out *cough*Spoilers!*cough*. The thing that really got people talking was the start of the whole Feligami ship! Yes! That’s a ship! You’d think this show would “Pair the Spares” and have Adrienettes exes hook-up, but nope! It’s the identical cousin that gets a love interest with the ex instead! Turns out, Felix/Argos was serious about his moments with Kagami at the Diamond Dance and genuinely did like her to the point of kidnapping her. You guys think this is “cute!?” The whole ship thing here, you think this is “cute!?” We have Felix Fathom here, a guy who keeps masquerading as Adrien, at one point, to make him look bad, pick picking people and more importantly, stealing nearly all the miraculouses and giving them to the bad guy making him stronger than ever and not feeling any remorse for it whatsoever is allowed to have a love interest all cuz we’re supposed be boo-hooey about him and his dark past!? What was the message!? Love redeems!? You do realize he only likes Kagami cuz their “similar” in something (whispers) sentimon-(gets interrupted by someone) I’ve just been informed that it’s considered a slur, so the more “politically correct” term is sentibeings! And that she only likes him cuz he looks like Adrien only more bolder and assertive! Oh yeah! That’s a cute ship! He said they have things in common too. What!? She too likes magic tricks!? He’s been stalking her too! Oh great! Now I’m being hypocritical cuz that’s how Adrienette started! (groans and mutters under breath) AretherenostableshipsinthisHudson Riverofashipshow!? You’d think that a teen prodigy like Felix, who was Englands youngest graduate, would’ve known better than to resort to kidnapping to win someone over (even for safety from an abusive parent), but like all rich kids in this show, they are lost like a rat in a maze when it comes to social norms! Whomp! Whomp! Whomp! (sighs) Again, Felix is an Anti-Villain, he does good, but with not so good intentions! He was just trying to save Kagami from her mothers control cuz as it turns out, he understands the feeling cuz he’s father was an a**hole too! We’re just figuring this out now!? They couldn’t have told us about this in his debut ep. (“Felix”) when he was b*tching to Adrien about not attending his fathers funeral and being upset about it!? If his dad was such an a**hole shouldn’t he have been partying like it’s 1999 cuz he’ll be outta his life and no longer bother him and his mom!? WTF writers!? If you think this relationship started off poorly, it gets worse! Ladynoir approves of it! You sure Ladybug!? The same guy that sexually harassed you, stole from you causing you all sorts of problems, hid from you and kicked your ass calling you a control freak and you’re just cool with this new ship sailing on the high seas!?…….well…….O.K. The only good qualities to this is he continued to let Kagami have her freedom by giving her mother a fake family ring and giving Kagami the real one.

it's a straight up miracle that ml is a coherent and enjoyable show despite jeremy zag doing his level best to literally blow it up to smithereens in every possible aspect with his incompetence and ego. i want to say i'm astounded that morons on here and twitter are twisting themselves into pretzels trying to pin the blame on thomas instead of jeremy, but this is honestly par for the course with the collective brain worms disease that infects social media and especially the saltier and whinier parts of this fandom. also it's painfully obvious to anyone with a brain that a good 75% of the drama that thomas "caused" on twitter with snark about chronology/releases/writing/censorship/abruptly shortened story arcs was him having to cover up for jeremy's idiocy and greed to keep himself from being fired from his own show, but then again expecting a functioning brain cell is too much from most of you i guess.
