There are so many incredible scenes in Ghosts but one that always gets to me is the scene from 3x3 when Thomas is standing with Alison in the morning and saying his whole ‘tis no fault of the sun if the eye sees not it’s beauty’ speech because it truly encapsulates this gorgeous, tender moment of acknowledging the beauty in the mundane. Being stuck in a house for centuries is obviously very difficult but there is so much beauty in watching the sun rise every morning and the leaves change colour and the birds fly about. It’s the Captain and his insects, it’s Robin and his mouse family, it’s a day of Mary’s life being Pat’s perfect holiday, and it’s Thomas being transported by a sunrise he has seen a thousand times. Life and nature is so breathtakingly beautiful and I love how much the show illustrates the value of the mundane cycles of life.
just thinking a bit about ts2 bc i saw that post again and not only does sims 2 have so much character, it’s also a game that is undeniably the sims. it takes you by the neck and you will deal with the drama, the aliens, the occults, the everything.
you play and you don’t know what’s going to happen 100% because your sim could get a chance card at work and get demoted or even fired. the sims in this game have such strong presence? they will do things differently based on their personality trait. their aspirations will have a strong impact on their characters and day to day life from the lifetime want to the wants and fears system. they have actual consequences so you are strongly encouraged to give and take with your sims because you don’t want them to have aspiration failure.
i have many dear memories from playing sims 4 but in that game you have to be the director, the decision maker, and every role in between. there are no strong consequences or sources of unpredictability. in sims 2 you’re an archivist who is documenting the lives of these little blorbos. sims 2 my beloved.
EDIT: forgot to put an 'idc how this is done but i'm interested in participating' option, pls press the 'my button 4 me' button if that's how you feel!
i would personally prefer to raise and then donate the money myself, to be positive the money gets donated, but i obviously understand why that could make people hesitant so i wanted to get some opinions!!
a pro of the first option would be you get to choose your cause and make 100% certain it goes where you think it is, a con is having to seek these resources out yourself + we wouldn't be collectively fundraising, though this isn't necesarily a bad thing! any amount helps anyone!
a pro of sending me the money is that i would take care of donating to an org (probably the UNRWA) or fundraiser AND we would be donating a collective amount of money, rather than spreading it here and there. a con would be putting that trust in me, a stranger, but i would post proof after each round of commissions is accepted, of course!! i'd also probably set up a ko-fi account or smth solely for this
there is also a third option where i would pick where the money goes so that there is a collective donation, but you would donate yourself + then send proof of donation
this would probably be a min. of 10 dollars per person with a cap of 5 for each round to ensure that i can get these done. i'll make a post with more information when i get this ironed out, but let me know what you guys think!!!
(also: the post probably won't go the full week, but i wanted more than a day!)
whats really getting me about the end of secret life is that when scar hit 'succeed' it rerolled him another task, one that said 'win secret life'. obviously from a meta perspective it's because red tasks are constant and that was the only task in the pool, but when you think about it.
scar really didn't win did he? he never got the friendship and allies he wanted. the suspicious villain until the end. there was no victory, only completion.
SORRY for nattravis posting but. i'm giffing and i just realized coach martinez is still alive on the tree branch and by trying to save his father travis cements his fate. he breaks the tree branch and his dad freefalls to the ground. travis with a father who isn't always good to him who dies in a way he wouldn't have if travis didn't put it in motion (except it was in motion before he got there). obviously nat is going to be obsessed with him. like. yeah that makes perfect sense
One of the things I really love about Pat's character is the way that in both the episodes that centre him (1x3 - Happy Death Day and 4x7 - It's Behind You) focus on the way that Pat is honoured and loved through Daley and the rest of his family. We see a lot of instances throughout the show of that being a father is a core part of Pat's personality, and by putting an emphasis on the ways that Pat lives on through his family the show further highlights this. Daley seems to show this the most, which is not that surprising given Carol was cheating on Pat for most of the marriage. The fact that they all visit Button House on Pat's death day and the way Daley mimics his dad in the home video is genuinely so heartwrenchingly beautiful, and I love it so much. It is so fitting for the character, and a really beautiful way to explore Pat's past!
