Saints mangler tre spillere mod 49ers
Saints mangler tre spillere mod 49ers
New Orleans Saints kommer til at mangle tre spillere, når holdet søndag møder San Francisco 49ers. Saints kommer til at mangle linebacker Pete Werner, defensive end Payton Turner og safety J.T. Gray. Heldigvis for Saints burde de have running back Alvin Kamara til rådighed, efter han har været syg i denne uge. Også offensiv tackle James Hurst burde være tilbage på linjen for Saints. Saints har…

Doing another ask cuz comments are short >:(
1: I just looked at the logs from when Paige got attacked and he said "The gray cat was attacking her" So maybe it was a cat they were already having problems with? Or just a stray that Paige didn't like? That could've also added to his rage with it.
2: How did his parents just not react?? To him killing that cat super brutally?? He said that he called his mom and she gave him a box to put it in, and nothing else. He didn't mention any consequences or anything about them being mad. I just wonder if they did something or said something it could've stopped him. Hell even his stay at the psychiatric evaluation thing. What normal person puts Murder/Suicide down as anything??? Fuck the same shit happened with Eric Harris!!!! It??? Fuck!!!???? Genuinely how the fuck did his parents never once go "Hey son we need to talk" and like guhhh idunno try to figure out why tf he said something like that? Or literally BEAT AND DECAPITATED A CAT WHEN HE COULDA PUT IT OUTSIDE??? Ughhh I mean my parents aren't any better, shit my mom didn't even do anything when she caught me looking at the columbine library photo all she did was make jokes.
Hopefully one day his parents will give someone an interview about how they treated/reacted to him, but I highly doubt it. I don't think talking about how you seemingly brushed passed him admitting he wanted to kill/die and killing a cat. Plus the stuff he wrote about how his house was full of people yelling and blaming each other.
Also Im thinking about making a new account that will just focus on TCC stuff so I don't run the risk of losing this account (I've had it since 2021 but I never used it for anything) So expect a new user doing asks like tomorrow or something.
I gotta get off tumblr for the day lol.
oh cool pls do i love talking to cool people on here :3
But yea, my parents also never do anything about it, atleast my mom doesnt. Its kind of suprising to me with just how many red flags ive displayed so far and got away without her sitting me down and having a serious conversation abt it or taking me to a therapist,. Im very vocal abt my interest irl, maybe cuz i kinda enjoy the attention or maybe because i want to see just how far i can go without them doing something about it :P, but yea hopefully they will, ik that his mothers cousin (i think) gave a statement regarding Payton, but other than that his familly has been really quiet since it all happened

Cadybear's Reviews- High School Story (OG Trilogy)
Welcome to the third official Cadybear's Reviews post! Today I'll be talking about the OG High School Story trilogy, which (to the surprise of absolutely no one) I have ranked on the "Diamond Tier" at 10 stars out of a possible 10.
Everyone and their dog who knows me knows that this is my favorite Choices series of all time. And even that bias aside, I can in good faith consider this one of Choices’ best-made series too.
Buckle up bitches, this is gonna be a long one. But I’ll try to keep it as concise as I can and break it up into each of the aspects that make the series so great.
First, the MC.
I do genuinely consider them among Choices’ best MCs. Probably unpopular opinion, but them being a blank slate works heavily in their favor, as it allows their character to be more flexible to what kind of character and story routes the player wants for them. You have different kinds of options in how you respond to things, a lot of which do have a significant impact on the actual story outcomes. The MC is a sort of an audience-surrogate character, but in a way that takes advantage of the interactive story medium and allows them to be proactive in the story, rather than making them bland or obnoxious or passive and then passing that off as self-insertable like a lot of modern stories try to do.
Although there can be some noticeable traits reminiscent of a Mary Sue type character, they’re very minimal and never overbearing. The story rarely if ever makes a big deal of MC being popular, rather than turning them into some OP god/goddess where everyone else just blindly worships the very air they breathe. For the most part, being popular and winning hoco/GoH/prom are simply just bonus things for the MC rather than the crux of their entire character.
Yeah, they can initially seem “too perfect”, but they’re really only perfect if you make them that way. You can make them do things like slip Koh’s secret to Isa, treat the incoming Hearst kids poorly, or be shit at their activity. You even get a few more gray decisions such as whether or not to turn in Myra or who to side with during the basketball game. And most of them do have consequential outcomes. Maybe not as major as the outcomes of stories like ILS or TH:M, but enough that they do significantly alter the story experience. I legitimately have so many different routes and versions of the MC I wanna try out in this series.
Second, all of the supporting/side characters.
Along with ES, ILITW, and TH:M, OG HSS is one of few stories where having a large cast is handled well and benefits the story more than harms it. Although the high school environment can be a bit cliquey and some of the characters are based off of typical high school stereotypes, they each feel like their own unique individual person and there’s even a lot of subversion of the stereotypes they’re based on. The jocks aren’t all just meatheaded alpha males; the cheerleaders aren’t all just snobby mean girls; the nerds, despite being more sidelined, aren’t pathetic losers; and each of the LIs have some depth to their supposed high school stereotype traits.
Aiden and Michael are my two most favorite LIs of all time. Aiden’s route especially is really genuine and earned and develops at a good pace, and I could probably make a separate post just about him alone. But really, all the LIs have some amazing growth arcs. And they, as well as all the side characters, are overall just interesting, down-to-earth, and memorable characters. Julian, Payton, Mia, Frank, Myra, Jade, and the rest all feel like distinct characters that I feel like I have actual reasons to give a damn about. Lest we forget the non-student characters. Characters like MC’s dad and Principal Hughs are especially iconic too, and give the story its own extra warmth and just that little touch of campiness.
Even the antagonists were pretty compelling– although they maybe weren’t all the most common or realistic kinds of antagonists, the conflicts they created still felt believable and threatening, and they were utilized in their roles relatively well. Brian, Zoe, Isa, Max, and Kara are all characters where I can actually care about what they do.
Third, the extracurricular activity system.
This technically goes hand-in-hand with the MC, but it’s a big part of why this series is so immersive and God-tier for me that it deserves its own section too. There are quite a handful of choices in this series that have an impact on the story, but this one is by far the strongest one and it gives the story and MC a lot of flexibility and variance.
Each book, you can choose sports, band, or cheer, and it gives you a very different experience of the story. Book 1 gives you a different conflict for each activity. Book 2, you don’t really get involved in your activity much, but it does affect how you may experience Isa’s reign and how characters will respond to which stances you take. Book 3 has pretty much the same base conflict in each activity, but the characters are all different enough that it does feel pretty distinct.
Not to mention that the different activities can give extra scenes with certain LIs. Romancing Aiden as a jock is still pretty damn good and I love it, but romancing Aiden as a band kid hits so much differently. You get extra interactions with him, a few more opportunities to score romance points, and you can feel this bit of extra connection between him and your MC. There’s a scene during the band concert where just before you play his song, they say that “you see a glint in his eyes that you haven’t seen before”, and after you finish playing it you see “his eyes gleam with pride”.
Bonus points also for sports and cheer both being open to both m!MC and f!MC; getting to be a female football jock is very euphoric for me. Although I’d have loved more female jock rep and male cheerleader rep besides MC, Emma in Book 1 if you do the football route, Jade, Kieran, and one or two one-offs, it’s still incredibly enjoyable. Especially with how un-sensationalized it is– the jock guys on the team don’t pathologize or patronize or tokenize my f!jock MC– they just treat her as yet another normal part of the team. Which is how it should be. I haven’t done a male cheerleader MC route yet but I think it’s fair to assume that the same applies there.
Obviously, this is probably not realistic to how most high school sports would work, but who gives a shit? It’s still believable and still makes the experience much more unique and enjoyable. In fact, nowadays there are some people advocating for sports to have a similar system to wrestling weight classes instead of gender/sex-based divisions, so if anything, this is kind of ahead of its time. To quote Caleb Mitchell, “If you’ve got the speed, who cares if you’re a guy or a girl?”
Fourth, the storylines themselves.
They’re not super emotionally deep or realistic stories, but that’s okay. They’re really fun and engaging, and if anything, that’s why they work so well. They’re able to think outside the box for what can be done within the high school setting. So we get situations that are fun and exciting and escapist, but never get overly absurd or juvenile or feel cheap in their conflicts, and are made to feel grounded with characters that are very down-to-earth and human.
It’s a very idealized high school experience for sure, but it’s not without humanity or conflict and challenges, and overall it does feel organic. It makes you actually want to attend that high school, which is a pretty damn good accomplishment considering IRL high school more often than not is a traumatic experience for a lot of us. HSS is basically “high school but if it were actually good”.
A lot of the conflicts are seemingly basic high school drama, but we see how it can have a very real influence on the characters and their personal struggles. Such as how band in-fighting and a screwed up half-time performance basically sends Aiden into a near breakdown over his fear of failure and strive for perfection in music. Or how the Ollie the Tiger statue being vandalized is deeply upsetting to Michael due to Berry being the one high school that was the most welcoming to him and his desire to preserve that. Or how people’s low energy for homecoming causes Maria to get frustrated and eventually snap from struggling with her leadership roles. Even if these situations are unrealistic to your average high school, it sure as hell is believable. Sometimes, it’s those seemingly small or petty issues that can be taking the biggest tolls on us.
Fifth, no smut scenes.
I mean, it makes sense, since I don’t think it would go down well for PB if they wrote smut of under-18 characters. But as someone who does not like how PB writes smut, I’m fine with that. Even if these guys were 18+, I wouldn’t want PB’s mediocre formulaic-ass smut writing to ruin the LI scenes, especially since characters like Aiden and Michael are my all-time favorites of Choices LIs.
Granted the 30 diamond scenes we do get aren’t exactly immune to being formulaic either (I swear to God if they make my MC sit in Michael’s lap one more goddamn time instead of the other way around I will actually die on the spot), but it’s a lot less… glaring here. And frankly, I prefer it that way. Leave the NSFW bits (if any) of their relationships up to interpretation.
Sixth, its relevance to its past installment, AKA the original High School Story mobile game.
For the most part, I think it bridges pretty well with HSS Prime. I actually played Choices HSS before I heard about and downloaded the Prime game, and even then, I found all of the returning Prime characters like Julian, Mia, Ezra, Payton, Koh, etc. to be really memorable. Even Nishan and Sakura, who barely had relevance in the trilogy, were endearing to me. Hence going into the Prime game was like delving into the HSS lore and getting “The Origin Story” of the seniors and the school.
Heck, I’d even say some of the characters– Julian, Mia, Koh, and Sakura in particular– got a bit of upgrade in Choices, being more mature from how they were in Prime. Honest to God, stuff like Julian’s over-machoness and Mia’s snobbishness could get pretty grating in Prime. While the Prime versions were obviously all more fleshed-out characters, seeing them the way they are in Choices is sort of like seeing how far they’ve come from how they were in Prime. Which I think is a pretty neat way for us to see them off as they’re about to graduate.
Returning for a second HSS playthrough after playing a fair amount of the Prime game, I was later able to notice all the Easter Eggs that showed up in the OG trilogy- Wes and Autumn’s history, Koh’s relationship with her grandma, Koh’s love for buffalo wings, etc. They were able to keep the two very connected, while still allowing OG to be able to stand on its own two feet.
I also love how they make it so that the switch from the old MC and cast to the new MC and cast feels justified. The writers knew that taking HSS to Choices would need to be welcoming to both old and new fans, and to try and make the Choices trilogy continue the story of the Prime MC probably would have made that a bit more difficult. So they write off the Prime MC as having graduated the year prior and sort of set up the implication that the new cast was being “passed down the torch to unify Berry and take on Hearst”. Which works because it maintains some grounded relevance to the HSS franchise, but doesn’t alienate the fans who are new to HSS.
It’s not perfect and it did have its shortcomings, but for the most part, it did feel like it was truly a part of HSS.
Of course, the trilogy as a whole isn’t without its flaws. There are actually quite a handful of problems ranging from minor nitpicky general Choices problems to a couple that are pretty glaring. I think I’m gonna make a separate post for that, so stay tuned for “Everything right and wrong with each of the HSS Books”. But for the most part, they don’t really bring down the series all that much.
Overall, I definitely consider this one of the best Choices series. It’s fun, escapist, immersive, a lot of your choices actually fucking matter, and it’s a good continuation of the HSS franchise.

Old WIPs time
So I reread this middle school WIP I had called Perspectives. I also rewrote it in high school but didn't get very far.
A few things of note:
The MS version is done in blatant diary entries while the HS version I committed to the gimmick of the same scene five times. Unfortunately I didn't get past the first scene three times.
So funny this takes place in 2025. I really thought this would be published by then.
For once, I'm convinced my protagonist Hollyn is straight. Most of my old OCs had queer undertones (I mean they still do but it's primarily intentional now) but Hollyn is not put off by boys like the rest of them. She could be bi or pan or something but idk she doesn't fit the vibe. May make her that later down the road but it depends on her vibe.
Ohh her best friend Laurel is the self-insert this time, got it. MS version she complains about Hollyn being boy crazy for having one crush.
Fun fact, Laurel was my first intentionally queer character. In the HS version she is lesbian and I did not shy away from making that clear even though she was not out consensually.
Jess was also a bit of a self insert. He's Hollyn's love interest and I think the first boy POV I ever wrote. I go into more natural descriptions of his attraction to Hollyn than I do Hollyn with him. For her it's "his black hair fell over his dark eyes" and Jess is talking about how her skin is so dark and the most beautiful he's seen ever and she has dark brown chocolate pools as eyes and he's stepping closer and omg how did I not know I liked girls????
Jess is also asexual like me probably because he's the one complaining that "fourteen year olds shouldn't call each other hot that's an exclusively adult thing"
Another blond bully named Jason like in TSP. Jason Sturges in TSP and Jason Mace here. Mace???
Jason swore but Jess (me) censored it.
In the HS version though I was more comfortable swearing and Laurel narrating "Shit with a capital S-H-I-T" was actually really funny.
Unironically Hollyn was part of a giant lie collectively referred to as The Incident
Writing in Payton's pov was interesting since she was a morally gray character. Doing that in middle school is interesting for me.
I literally had soap opera plot twists planned. May scrap that since they're not interesting
I think I'm gonna call this WIP This Story is Told Five Times. Maybe just Five Times. Repeat ×5. I don't know man!!!! Perspectives is nice and straight to the point but not only are fun quirky titles, well, fun, I like them longer. But I want something that gets the idea of the story being told five times across better. Idk I'll think on it. It's not like I'm gonna work on this immediately.
I thought this would really work as a MG novel as opposed to my usual YA. But then I read the "S-H-I-T" line and that's too funny I can make it YA.

The 19-year-old White man who killed 10 people in a racist mass shooting at a grocery store in a predominantly Black area of Buffalo last May cried and said he regretted his actions as he was sentenced to life in prison during an emotional court hearing Wednesday.
“I’m very sorry for all the pain I forced the victims and their families to suffer through. I’m very sorry for stealing the lives of your loved ones. I cannot express how much I regret all the decisions I made leading up to my actions on May 14,” Payton Gendron, wearing an orange jumpsuit and shackles, said in court.
“I did a terrible thing that day. I shot and killed people because they were Black. Looking back now, I can’t believe I actually did it. I believed what I read online and acted out of hate. I know I can’t take it back, but I wish I could, and I don’t want anyone to be inspired by me and what I did.”
The statement came during the state sentencing hearing for Gendron, who pleaded guilty in November to one count of domestic act of terrorism motivated by hate, 10 counts of first-degree murder, three counts of attempted murder and a weapons possession charge for the mass shooting at Tops Friendly Markets on May 14, 2022.
A number of victims’ family members spoke emotionally Wednesday about how the mass shooting had changed their lives. At one point, Gendron took off his glasses and began crying during the testimony from the victims’ families.
At another point, a man in a gray sweatshirt rushed at Gendron in court but was quickly blocked by security, and Gendron was taken out of the courtroom.
After a short break, Gendron returned to the courtroom and Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan restarted the hearing.
“We cannot have that in the courtroom,” Eagan said. “We must conduct ourselves appropriately because we are all better than that.”
In the end, the Judge sentenced Gendron to life in prison on each of the terrorism and murder charges and offered a stern rebuke of him.
“There is no place for you or your ignorant, hateful and evil ideologies in a civilized society,” she said. “There can be no mercy for you, no understanding, no second chances. The damage you have caused is too great, and the people you have hurt are too valuable to this community. You will never see the light of day as a free man ever again.”
Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn said after court the sentence put legal closure on the case, but not on the broader issues.
“It certainly does not put any closure on what we need to do as a society and a community going forward,” Flynn said. “Justice was done with a small ‘j’ today, but we still have a big ‘J’ of Justice to do.”
MAN RUSHES AT GENDRON DURING VICTIM STATEMENTS
The attempted attack on Gendron came during a particularly intense victim impact statement by Barbara Mapps, the sister of Katherine Massey, a 72-year-old who was killed in the attack.
“I want personally to choke you,” Mapps said in a loud voice. “Your little punk ass decided to come here to kill Black people.”
Flynn said the man will not be charged with a crime, explaining he did not want to compound the tragedy.
Other families of victims offered more somber memories of their loved ones and criticisms of Gendron’s violent actions and hateful ideology. Many of the victims’ family members voiced that they wish for Gendron to be sentenced to life in prison, rather than the death penalty, so the shooter will have to suffer with his thoughts for the rest of his life.
“One day I hope you find it in your heart to apologize to those families,” Wayne Jones, the son of Celestine Chaney, said in court.
“I pray to God they do not kill you,” said Brian Talley, family member of shooting victim Geraldine Talley. “You need to be known worldwide … I forgive you, but I forgive you not for your sake, but for mine and for this Black community.”
Christopher Braden, who said he was shot in his leg, said he saw dead bodies on the floor as he was led out of the supermarket to the hospital.
“The visions haunt me every day,” Braden said, adding he continues to suffer from night terrors and post-traumatic stress disorder from the shooting.
Zeneta Everhart, whose son Zaire Goodman was shot and injured, said her son has survivor’s guilt.
“He is dealing with the pain that I as a mother cannot bear,” Everhart said. “On that day this terrorist made the choice that the value of a Black human meant nothing to him … whatever the sentence is that [Gendron] receives, it will never be enough.”
Michelle Spight, who said she lost her aunt and her cousin in the shooting, said she hopes Gendron is haunted every day and every night.
“You came to Buffalo with hatred and anger in your heart,” Spight said, also speaking on behalf of her other family members.
HOW WE GOT HERE
On the afternoon of May 14, Gendron turned the community’s source of necessities into a crime scene.
Gendron was heavily armed and wore tactical gear – including a tactical helmet and plated armor, police said at the time. He also livestreamed his actions using a camera.
Using an illegally modified semi-automatic rifle, the gunman shot four people outside the grocery store – three of whom died. He continued the massacre inside the store, fatally shooting an armed security guard and eight others, six of whom didn’t survive.
The shooting traumatized the predominantly Black neighborhood of Masten Park on Buffalo’s east side. The area was a food desert and the Tops Friendly Markets was the only supermarket in the neighborhood.
Gendron shot a total of 13 people, including 11 Black people and two White people, authorities said. All the victims killed were Black.
Prosecutors have argued the horror that unfolded both inside and outside the supermarket was rooted in Gendron’s racism toward Black people. Evidence included social media posts and a lengthy document written by Gendron, revealing he had planned the attack and visited the supermarket several times prior to the massacre.
Gendron posted he chose the Tops market as his target because it’s located in the 14208 ZIP code in Buffalo which is home to the highest percentage of Black people close enough to where he lived in Conklin, New York.
In the document, he attributed the internet for most of his beliefs and describes himself as a fascist, a White supremacist and an antisemite.
The shooter’s charges included the first use of New York’s terrorism motivated by hate charge since it became available in 2020 under state law.
On the federal level, Gendron faces 10 counts of hate crime resulting in death, three counts of hate crime involving bodily injury, 10 counts of use of a firearm to commit murder during and in relation to a violent crime, and three counts of use and discharge of a firearm during a violent crime, according to a criminal complaint.
He has pleaded not guilty to the federal charges, which carry the potential for the death penalty.
In December, Gendron’s attorneys said during a court hearing he would be willing to plead guilty to the federal charges if prosecutors agreed to remove the death penalty as punishment.

Top 10 Favorite NFL Coaches
I had a request to do my favorite NFL coaches. So here it is. There are few current coaches that I like to fuck, so I'm adding some former coaches to pad this list out. To be fair, the current ones are in the top five.
#10. Sean Payton
Tumblr media
I dunno what it is about Payton that attracts me to him. I just want him.
#9. Jon Gruden
Tumblr media
I just took notice of Gruden only recently with his nice chest and ass. Damn shame he won't be coaching in the NFL again as I'm betting those two feature will only get better with age. Hopefully some college team will pick him up.
#8. Rex Ryan
Tumblr media
I just love Rex as he's the best looking of Buddy Ryan's sons. How is Rex better looking than his twin brother Rob? The foot fetish thing makes him hotter and the long hair on Rob makes him less hotter. What? I hate long hair, but I'd still fuck him.
#7. Bruce Arians
Tumblr media
Started following him when the Bucs won the super bowl. I can't believe I never notice him since then and now that he's retired, I'm kicking myself for not noticing him sooner.
#6. Wade Phillips
Tumblr media
Wade’s got all the goods to me. Handsome, the gray hair and a thick hairy body. If he was still in the NFL laying his great D, he'd be my #1.
#5. Pete Carroll
Tumblr media
Pete has that dad/granddad next door look, A 6' tall silverfox who takes good care of himself.
#4. Doug Pederson
Tumblr media
Handsome, a hefty 6'3" with thick tree trunk legs, which is a fav of mine.
#3. Mike McCarthy
Tumblr media
Handsome and thick, I see Mike as I bottom. NO ONE tell me otherwise as I just want to be up in dat ass.
#2. Andy Reid
Tumblr media
Been a fan of Andy since he coached the Eagles and he's only got better since then.

just watched Darkman (1990) for the first time and sadly it didn't hit my "pulpy, tragic, in love, ugly man" spot like i hoped it would...
i mean i loved the elfman score (when do i not?) and there were a lot of very nice shots and weird effects and explosions i loved but...hm... well for one, the tonality was sometimes strange. like the whole helicopter thing with him dangling down there was suddenly comical and reminded me of looney tunes, it was a weird shift from the creepy mood prior. i guess my main problem is the script, i think if the dialogue and pacing had been better i would have gotten a lot more out of it. this way it felt too shallow to me, the love story and that Payton only develops this dark side basically because of a surgery. idk, i would have preferred more melodrama, more angst! and any set up really why he feels he can't show himself to Julie the way he is and for developing that darker side. like let him have a manic, "taking it too far" streak already before he gets blown up or literally just let him naturally become like this without it being amplified by a surgery. people have become assholes because of much less. idk, it didn't even feel to me like he went dark enough to justify the "no julie, it can't go back to normal/we can't be together even though you accept the way i look" ending. like, yeah he became a murderer but in movie universe logic, where you only become a morally gray character when you start to also hurt innocent people, he was doing fine by just killing killers.
i also thought what would have improved the movie the way it is would have been more eccentric actors as stars (i first thought worse actors than liam neeson and frances mcdormand and then i realized no, not worse, just more eccentric, melodramatic actors who can do camp well). i read some people seem to see darkman as poto adjacent movie but it reminded me much more of face/off, with the whole "wearing the face of the people who ruined your life and who you hate the most" theme and the action sequences. i thought a nicolas cage type would have worked much better as darkman for me than neeson and when i saw bruce campbell in the last scene i was like "YES YES!!! HE WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT IN THE PART!" and turns out raimi wanted him as darkman in the first place! i want that movie.

Twilight/Duvet
Word Count: 1,937
(Inspired by the Vibes™️ of the songs, “Duvet” and, “Twilight” by boa. It’s tells of River and Payton’s last kiss, as we all know of the first.)
————————————————————————
The first kiss ever shared between Payton Hobart and River Barkley is one to be documented as unorthodox but wonderful.
It was a first, special for many, many reasons. But the last has its own importance.
Though, what comes in between the beginning and the end? The middle, those little insignificant moments that would end up swimming in Payton's mind after blood had gotten onto his hands; what would flicker in River's mind when Payton comes to him, spewing off in a rage.
Before the rage, there was peace. In that peace, his constantly moving world slowed down for a while.
The first kiss was short and sweet, sparking something new; a snowball effect.
Something new that Astrid would hear of, leading to numbers two, three, and then a blur until River's lovers left the hotel room in tears; first Astrid, then Payton much later.
But two and three, then the blur where all eager, wanting to be close, but never close enough.
Astrid was jealous of that. Really jealous.
Eager and close was different from the first, but difference isn't unwelcome.
After the fog his mind was in for the next few days, a fog of, "Oh my God, I almost slept with River Barkley," Payton lost direct count of everything. That pissed him off initially; he likes keeping himself and the people around him in order.
Though, order goes out the window in the safety of River's blue bedroom.
Between them, it's never said that River's room is safer or that it's preferred over Payton's, but River doesn't have the threat of cruel older brothers or the generally cold gaze of his father looming over him.
River has his own guilt and Astrid's glare burned into his mind.
That's enough.
But the threats and gazes are less prominent in the Barkley home than in the Hobart's; if they ever got caught, they wouldn't be shamed or mocked most likely, but questions about Astrid and Alice would be asked.
They keep their intimacy in the privacy of River's bedroom, in pale yellow and orange sunset afternoons and black and navy star-speckled nights.
Both of which have their moments.
River, of course, is not going to be picky over what time he gets to be with Payton, but he likes the sunsets the best.
Payton, in bed, with the sun from the big balcony window against his face.
He looks like an angel, he always does without fail. His eyes, gray with blue and green and a little bit of brown when River has enough time to really look at them... all swirled together, shining in the dying light.
He always makes time to look at Payton's eyes, to read him; to understand him in those moments.
Though, there are many times where Payton will shut his eyes and kiss River just so he doesn't have to be read so sincerely.
A distraction from his own thoughts and whatever River might find, he never wants him to dig too deep.
Kisses like those, where River wants to appreciate Payton's glory, but Payton can't stand it for too long, make up whatever handful of numbers come after the blur.
Maybe eleven, twelve, to fourteen small kisses, Payton can't keep track.
Payton likes the dark navy nights, because he can't see River and River can't see him.
They understand that each other are there and know where things fit into place, where hands go, where this-that-and-the-other go, but they cannot see the fine details of everything.
He likes these nights because he can lose himself in River and not see his face, he can strain himself and continue to detach himself from intimate times; it's all for the sake of pleasure, nothing more, nothing less.
Payton takes being intimate— together for the sake of being with one another— and tries to take that out of the equation.
Intimacy without being intimate, which amounts to something that serves its purpose, but River wishes Payton would look him in the eye during the night.
River, the same as Payton, looses track, but he only counts to one.
He'd only ever wanted that one kiss, every number that proceeds it is an added bonus.
He's known Payton, or rather of him for years, hearing him brainstorming and spitting off ideas about the steps required to accomplish his dream in the library long before their first Mandarin lesson.
For a while, he was intimidated, but then he saw what lies underneath all the ambition and precision.
Don't take it wrong, he'd fallen in love with the ambition and precision, but the underlying current of truthfulness had plucked his heartstrings the right way.
There's a time between orangish yellow and pitch-black navy, the last, but it's own first.
It's nearing the end of Summer, not that it means much for Southern California, but school is about to start up again and Payton is anxious.
But he's at River's house for another visit, one of the last before he'll have his head in his textbooks and research articles until June.
His first real campaign will be launching, pity to the poor fool who dares to go up against him.
In his anxiousness, wanting August to end and for September to desperately begin, he gets out of bed and opens the balcony door as quietly as he can.
The world is quiet, he can hear the water coming up to shore.
That was good day he had with River this summer, walking along the beach late in the afternoon. The ocean water had been a little cold against his feet and the sand was too hot, but he'd found a happy medium with the wet sand in between.
Payton has never been a beach-goer, but watching the sunset while River tried to teach him how to skip small pebbles was an exception.
Listening to the water and trying to relax his mind, he looks at the sky, in between his favored starry blue and River's golden yellow. Little streaks of purple and a pinkish color are present, too.
Twilight.
"What're you doing up?" River asks from behind him, moving to stand right next to him.
"I'm anxious for school to start," He admits straightforwardly, "I've got big plans."
He's said that for years now, he's got big plans, which he does.
It rolls of his tongue easily, a saying that'll win him the majority vote.
River smiles at him a little, still half asleep,
"You're the only person I know who's excited to get back to school." He teases, "I thought you said you were gonna enjoy the last days of summer."
"I am! I'm just getting excited. Getting excited for school is enjoyable for me." He says, smiling faintly himself.
The soft smile doesn't leave River's face, he's always happy to talk to Payton, even at dusk.
Though, there's something that he knows that Payton doesn't; he won't say it now.
Astrid has big plans as well, plans that River will enact on her behalf, because it's what's, "best for him."
River leans against the balcony railing, looking out at the blue, yellow, purply-pink sky, feeling happy in this moment in time.
Payton calms his racing mind, breathing softly in and out, in and out.
He reaches four breathes in and out, in and out, and looks at River, peaceful and incredibly gorgeous, like Poseidon himself.
He is hit with a sweet thought, a first of its kind.
River looks at him and meets his half-happy and half-pensive gaze, leaning a little forward to listen to talk and then listen to him,
"What're you thinking about? I know that look."
River's face is tired but kind, curious and wanting to listen. Payton never wants him to dig too deep.
Payton looks out at the sky, rainbow colored and beautiful, a balance between the times where he's had his own motives.
Where River is satisfied and dazed by the end of every time, but he looks like a piece of the equation is missing.
He looks right at River, at his eyes that hold an entire gradient of blue in them.
Impulsively, with a revelation of so much euphoric feeling crashing into him at once, he kisses River.
This isn't to distract himself, nor is it to lead him to bed.
This one is solely for River, Payton loves him. Oh my God, he loves him so damn much.
He loves this, so ironically, he loves summer and lazy, indulgent afternoons and other adventurous days with River.
Learning to skip pebbles in the cool ocean water and going on long drives just for the hell of it, where River insists on time away from preliminary studying.
It's sweet, it's the type of sickening sweetness that gives him a stomach ache.
He's come to love summertime because of River.
Though, quick and aching, what he's just done hits him as well. He pulls back a little and looks at River for a second. There's still a small amount of space between them, they are still quite close together. Payton lingers in the space before taking a physical step back, going back to avoiding his eyes like usual.
Summer is over now, get back on track.
A goal to achieve, plans set in stone.
River isn't upset, just startled and caught off guard.
The space between them, though small, was comforting. Payton was close to him and now he isn't, looking regretful.
"I'm sorry," Payton spits out quickly, though his voice is quiet, "I don't know why- why I... God." His voice is quiet, but shaking; wanting to build his defenses back up but keep them down at the same time.
The war never fully stops.
River let's the space between them stay still, he doesn't move,
"Payton, come on, look at me. It's okay. I'm not mad or anything, you just startled me a bit. I swear."
Payton looks at him, the fleeting moment of bliss replaces itself with guilt.
Guilt more than regret, or maybe a mixture of both.
School is starting soon, get back on track.
Alice, the perfect First Lady and a dream-team of his childhood best friends.
River has Astrid, that ice-cold, bitchy, damn-
"It's late. We, we should go back to bed."
"Payton, if you want to-"
Payton clears his throat and blinks hard once,
"River,” He says, “I don’t want to talk, I’m tired and so are you.”
The walls are build up fast, the concrete barely has time to dry.
The two of them settle back into bed, underneath the soft duvet and sheets.
River has some sort of instinct by now to cuddle up to Payton, hold him tight until morning.
But he doesn’t, he keeps to himself and Payton doesn’t rest his head near River’s chest to hear his heart.
When morning comes, River is alone in bed, his heart feeling sore, painfully sore.
Payton isn’t in the other room or down the hall or in the bathroom.
He’d gone home without a word, gone home to repress himself further.
The politician is going to win, pity for the fool who dares to go against him.
River is the fool, led by her majesty.
Payton wants to overthrow the monarchy and with an overthrowing comes anger.
Rage.
The memories of their eighteen months spent together stabs both of them in the heart as River takes the easy way out, a tragic goodbye.
River passes by the light of the vibrant sunset.
Payton watches the sun set and then to dusk, where twilight comes slowly once again.
