"AN ALBERTOSAURUS PICTURE I DID WAS A REAL BREAKTHROUGH FOR ME AS FAR AS HELPING ME TO UNDERSTAND DINOSAUR POSES..."
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on two varying illustrations of Albertosaurus (meaning "Alberta Lizard"), a genus of large tyrannosaurid theropod dinosaur that lived in northwestern North America during the early to middle Maastrichtian age of the Late Cretaceous period, about 71 million years ago. Artwork by William Stout, c. 1992.
ARCHOSAUR MUSINGS: "How long have you been producing palaeoart?"
WILLIAM STOUT: "I’ve been drawing dinosaurs since I was in the third grade. I didn’t really start doing accurate reconstructions, though, until I joined the SVP in the late 1970s. At that time I began to seriously study both paleontology and paleobotany."
ARCHOSAUR MUSINGS: "What is your favourite piece of palaeo art that you have produced?"
WILLIAM STOUT: "There are a few that are important to me. One is “Mosasaur and Loons," one of my prehistoric Antarctica paintings. It’s incredibly simple and powerful (always difficult to do). It has excellent color as well. After making it into a poster it has never stopped being one of my top sellers. It was the reason I got my first mural commission as well. The Smithsonian’s Michael Brett-Surman gave me what I consider the greatest compliment I have ever received for a painting in regards to that piece.
An Albertosaurus picture I did was a real breakthrough for me as far as helping me to understand dinosaur poses on a whole new level. It is still one of my favorites."

HAH I FINISHED IT. Will have to get Real Pictures outside when the sun returns. I learned I need to use more strongly textured glass at that scale but overall this has been my smoothest sailing stained glass yet. Straight edges help a lot.

The massive mother Devincenzia, one of the biggest terror birds to ever walk the earth, looked dissaprovingly at what was before her, with a piercing gaze coming from her eyes, over two metres off the forest floor. She was not amused, to put it mildly.
Her two chicks had hatched recently, and had proven themselves to be quite a wingful. They were always up to no good, chasing small animals, running over logs, and getting into mischief. Now, they had been running around a clearing, which had a strange thing among a huge pile of leaves.
The Devincenzia was naturally suspicious of strange objects, and the strange black box that was among the leaves. Occasionally it made a clicking sound. The terror bird didn’t know what it was. As far as she was concerned, it may have been a strange vine. But she didn’t like it. She decided to lead her little rascals elsewhere.

Remember my knife wielding sketchbook birds? Well they've gotten a fine slap of color and are now available as a sticker sheet, individual stickers, & shirts over on Redbubble!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you buy the sticker sheet be sure to pick the MEDIUM size so the kiss cuts are far enough apart. Medium size sticker sheet makes for 8 bird stickers about 2" on the long side apiece; the large is roughly 8x3" stickers and so on. You can also get them individually or on a shirt if you like! Redbubble is my current solution for merch as A) I cannot afford to guess what's popular and B) cannot store the sheer variety of things that RB can make. Thankfully I've bought from them many times both my art and other artists and the quality is VERY nice. ALWAYS check the internet for RB coupons too; they do 20-30% off regularly. Here's one for 20% that works as of this tumblr post: 20ForYou-0223LW

Hey, there’s been some whispers of potentially a deal between tumblr and a company that does image collection for AI-image generation.
If anything like this gets announced I will EITHER take down all my old posts and repost them with glaze or something similar, OR I will just leave. I have an Art Station account and an instagram I never fuckin use, idk.
I’m also thinking of making a cohost account so I’ll keep y’all updated.
(Also, sorry, I am going to mis-tag this post a little in the hope that some of the people who enjoyed my trans tiktaalik piece but didn’t follow me see this)
