short answer: felix is late 19/20, reader feels late 17/18 (i like the thought of reader having skipped a grade bc one of her main insecurities is constantly wanting to seem older bc being mature is the one thing her dad prasied her for)

i saw a picture of Saltburn's script that says felix is supposed to be 20,, ig that could be wrong bc of editing/verification,,

i don't remember his age ever being explicitly stated in the movie though, but i feel like it's implied (through his status/familiarity in an on campus routine) that he's not a first year/a little bit older than oliver, but i do picture felix as 20 (maybe late 19 if i ever want to write a blurb where reader and felix are celebrating his birthday)

also it just feels like a good age for him! just starting to get his foothold in the adult world, enough youthful idealism still in his system to want to make someone as "tragic" as oliver his project when a safer choice would have been someone a little shinier,, and just as he's leaving his teenage years behind, he dies (ironically and arguably bc of the youthfully naive concepts his family life would have encouraged him to keep into adulthood) :(

so now instead of being forever 20 bc of his comfortable life style, he's forever 20 bc he has to be,, in a way oliver got to know the only version of felix he would ever know but i digress

bestfriendreader feels like a 17/18 year old freshman to me (hear me out),, i like reader as a freshman bc it's one more thing that should make reader feel closer to oliver,, but she just doesn't, which adds to their dynamic that i haven't shared much of but i will!!

also,, i see bestfriend!reader as someone that's spent their entire life hanging out with people a little older, constantly striving to seem more mature/be a grown up bc her mom's a free spirit and her dad only praises her when she handles his disappointments "like an adult"

also something about bestfriend!reader being on campus for like two weeks, hearing every story on earth about felix and his friends that he's more of an enigma than person (campus celebrity vibes) that she doubts is that impressive until he sits down next to her in class and starts talking is cute idk,, like reader not even realizing how big a deal felix's interest in her is until one of her friend's is like dude.

it's the kind of luckiness that oliver originally hates her for,, reader walked onto campus,, new to oxford,, new to the country, and still manages to snag felix's attention without even trying

idk if the age gap is weird tho😭 (i'm 20 rn and would never date a 17/18 year old but my best friend is 18, started college at 17 bc she was ahead a year and when she was that age she dated 19/20 year olds that went to school with her and that didn't feel weird bc they have enough in common bc of their setting) sooo i'm open to reader having an early enough birthday that she's 18 by the time her and felix get close,, i like the idea of writing a birthday fic anyway lol

HOPPING ON HERE AGAIN FOR ANOTHER SUPER LONG THEORY POST BOYSSSSS

Hello THOAM people! How are you all doing today? Good? Great? Did you just have one of the best days in your entire life and you are certain that nothing could possibly ruin it for you now??

WELL YOU ARE WRONG. /j I AM HERE TO RUIN IT ALL.

that is very much a joke I’m sorry I’m very high on adrenaline right now becAUSE THE NEW COVERS FOR ISSUE 9 JUST DROPPED AS I’M WRITING THIS OUT AND I AM SO EXCITED TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT AND I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS. So why don’t I just cut the dilly-dallying and get right on with it?

So, first thing I wanna mention is Sonic’s current state and his relationship status. (You may take that as out of context as you want lol) Sonic is currently in an internal state of panic mixed in with exhaustion. MAJOR exhaustion! Bro had to rush to Omega’s aid right after fighting Shadow in a cave full of ice. If that’s not draining as heck then I have no idea what isn’t. And on top of all that, he not only almost killed Omega, but he also knows now that his friends have known what was going on with him for a while! Probably ever since the scene where him, Tails, and Knuckles went out for breakfast and he passed out at the table. (I can’t remember which issue that was atm. I think issue 3…?) In short, Sonic is experiencing a whole rollercoaster of emotions right now, and he isn’t even awake yet! As soon as he wakes up I theorize he’s gonna be asking everyone a lot of questions, and will then ask for elaborations on top of all the answers he receives! I also don’t think he will be as trusting of others anymore, since his friends all knew of his biggest kept secret for a long while now and nobody said or did anything about it!

Now combine that with the guilt he must feel for Omega… The last thing Sonic witnessed before passing out was him going on a rampage and almost killing the robot. He must not feel great about that…! 🫢 And his relationship with Team Dark will be relatively strained as well. I mean, aside from Rouge probably. She loves Omega, but knows the context behind the situation and doesn’t blame Sonic much for what happened, so I think she won’t change much around the Blue Blur. Though his relationship with Shadow was already strained before all that, so… Yeah.

ALRIGHT TIME TO TALK ABOUT CHIP WOOHOOOOOOOO

We all know now that Chip has finally experienced what I’m calling, “✨God Puberty✨”

(Imagine there are pretty pink sparkles floating around the name. Kinda like the classic “You’re watching Disney Channel” thing)

This ✨God Puberty✨ has essentially opened Chip’s eyes, and changes the game completely! Now we not only have a god on our side but also a god who has context! I believe Chip will try and guide Dark Gaia back to its sleeping state to restore balance like they usually do, as explained in the comic, but the attempt will backfire seeing as Dark Gaia was awoken prematurely by Dr. Eggman. (More on him in a second) Chip will keep trying, because they’re a big floofy funny god that just wants food and just went through ✨God Puberty✨ so they’ll naturally wanna keep this going at a peaceful rate. Because despite all of his power, Chip is still Chip. Just a smol bitty guy who wants ice cream. With the addition of being a god. Sonic will then of course have to step in, leading to him getting his Gaia energy taken away and him being free of this curse, and then the events of the game finale play out as normal. Probably. It’s getting late now and I’m getting tired so my brain energy is wavering so idk exactly if that’s what will happen but it’s some food for thought I suppose.

NOW WE CAN FINALLY TALK ABOUT EGGMAN OH MY GOSH YES LET’S TALK ABOUT THE PATHETIC EGG-SHAPED SCIENTIST THAT WE CALL A MAN MADE OUT OF EGGS

To keep this short and simple, I’ll discuss Eggman within the context we have based solely on the new covers alone. Meaning the only speculation I’ll be doing is based off of those and the last few times we’ve seen the guy in the comic. Which actually was… A long time ago, actually. If I’m remembering correctly, that is. I could be wrong. ANYWHIZZLE LEMME STOP JABBERING AND LET’S GET ON WITH THE THEORIZING-

So the first cover shows a new, most likely final form of Sonic’s, encasing Eggman in a cracked eggshell while using his claws. Or more specifically, there is Eggman, acting as an egg yolk, sitting in a puddle of egg whites with the shell on each side of him, while Sonic’s Gaia claws slowly close in on him in the back. Sonic is staring at him menacingly, his anger and frustration reaching a boiling point due to all the stress he’s most likely experiencing combined with the Dark Gaia energy within him. This cover makes me assume that this issue is gonna act as the final battle against Eggman, a final “Screw you!” To the fat man in red. Obviously, Eggy ain’t going down without a fight, as shown in the next cover, but we’ll get to that in a minute.

The first cover suggests that Eggman is gonna be the main role of the issue, and that he’s gonna get his ass kicked. Sonic is gonna confront him, fully transform into his final Werehog form due to anger and stress, and we’ll then move onto the next issue probably. Again, I’m getting tired so this theory is getting pretty sloppy.

Now onto cover numero dos! I love this cover honestly, and it’s literally only because Knuckles and Tails are seen defending a transforming Sonic from Eggman. They are literally using themselves as like. A meat shield. Normally I’d be like “Oh no what happened????” But right now all I can think is “Omg ✨Brothers✨ 🤩”

Welp-

I reblogged this post earlier, and I wanted to elaborate on my stance since I messed up my reblog and my message didn't show up :(

LONG ramble about Taka and Ishida under the cut :)

(Spoilers and death and all that good stuff, as well as a couple screen caps)

Heads up:

Just real quick, I'm gonna make a couple points based on this snapshot from an old interview. Here's the source. (I will translate some parts of this below, too.)

For starters, I don't think Taka was ever meant to survive.

I really think he should have, but I don't believe he was ever going to. Hot take, ik lol

As basically everyone knows by now, Taka was meant to kill himself in Distrust. That ended up being changed since the whole suicide plot would've been revealed too early for people's liking, so that point was given to Sakura. So even before the game was refined and shipped, Taka was going to die.

Taka's FTEs also stopped when he changed into Ishida, and while Ishida had one unused FTE, it was only one. I doubt there was ever much planned for Taka past Chapter 4 (maximum), so they decided to just kill him in Chapter 3.

Kodaka did speak a little bit about what he had wanted Taka's death to feel like, so I think that's pretty solid evidence that he was always going to die.

[ROUGH TRANSLATION:] [Kodaka: You could say that. However, even in a sad situation, I didn't want to make it [his death] cruel/brutal, so when it comes to it, it was on purpose.]

Ishida was also not a very well-received character lol.

Apparently, when the game first came out, Ishida was one of the least liked characters in the whole game. The staff also didn't care for him much, so they probably wanted to get rid of him as soon as possible.

[ROUGH TRANSLATION:] [Komatsuzaki: I felt like the characters were weaker when combined (laughter).] [Kodaka: That [Ishida's FTE] was also scrapped, and almost all of his appearances were lost. For that reason, Ishimaru himself was very popular although Ishida wasn't popular in the slightest. It's unfortunate... (laughter).]

The wordage here makes me think that there were originally going to be more chances for Ishida to appear, but that was thrown out in the earliest stages of planning. [ボツ roughly means "rejection (of a manuscript, etc.)]

Kodaka DID want to dive deeper into Ishida's character, though! He said so here:

[ROUGH TRANSLATION:] [Kodaka: I wanted to dig a little deeper regarding Ishimaru and Oowada's union, "Ishida," though...]

However, not even the interviewers really cared for Ishida lol.

Also, just to bring it up, here's where the claim for Taka's nonexistent backstory comes from, as far as I can tell:

[ROUGH TRANSLATION:] [Kodaka: I thought about depicting that [his experience in junior high] a little more in his Free Activity part, but that was becoming too dark/gloomy, so it was retired.]

So it's not that he had one that was scrapped after he died. He never had one to begin with.

MIGHT I REMIND PEOPLE OF ALL THE CRIMES IN THIS SERIES?? WHAT COULD BE DARKER THAN, LIKE, MUTILATION, SA, SH, SEWERSLIDE, ECT ECT????

The staff do agree that he was rushed, though. Kodaka admitted that he probably rushed his death a little at the end, but he was trying to achieve a certain feel with it.

[ROUGH TRANSLATION:] [Sugawara: Ishimaru's facial expressions were fairly abundant, but I felt like his time to die seemed too quick to carry out.] [Kodaka: Be that as it may, I feel I was too quick regarding Ishimaru. But, I really wanted the event when Ishimaru died to be like Robert Rodriguez's "Desperado".]

Now, I haven't seen Desperado, so I have no idea what this reference means lol. If anyone has seen it, lmk! (Defo going on my Must Watch list hehe)

SO IN CONCLUSION:

Taka was likely always meant to die, but his character was incredibly rushed and shallow that he ended up dying without much to his backstory or personality.

It's really unfortunate, though. I've always felt like Fuyuhiko was kinda like what could have been for Taka, even on my first playthrough of the second game. Taka's character did and still does have SO much potential, including the fact that his percent chance of surviving his death is MUCH higher than any other character that has died thus far.

If there's ever a new Dangan installment, I want a Taka cameo where he didn't actually die because the freezer room basically acted as a life support system for him and slowed his circulation of blood, letting his head injury heal just enough to escape Hope's Peak some time after all the survivors are already out but before anyone comes back, but because he has severe untreated head trauma he's kinda crazy.

BUT THOSE ARE JUST MY THOUGHTS!

i don't know shit about the mormon religion but tbh ur posts about it have me thinking about looking into it since ive been on and off looking for a religion that fits me. do you have recommendations on where to start?

anon this made me so happy and excited u have no idea. i will answer the ask under the cut cos its gonna get. long

alright! so! quick (2 paragraph lol sorry) crash course! the mormon church is more formally known as The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. this is noted bcs i think its important to know that the church Is a branch of christianity!

the main difference between the church and other branches of christianity is that we believe that we have the restored gospel! to elaborate, we believe that during the years christ was gone, his church and doctrine began falling apart - misinterpretation, mistranslation, etc, all playing a role. the power of both the aaronic priesthood and the melchezidic priesthood was lost. sure, we also have the book of mormon (+ the doctrine&covenants and the pearl of great price), but the reason we have those in the first place is because the priesthood was restored to us.

the subtitle of the book of mormon is "another testemant of jesus christ". basically, you know all those times that jerusalem got destroyed in the old testemant? well, one of those times, this guy lehi takes his family and his pals and goes to the american continent! and then the book of mormon chronicles what happened to him and his many descendants, ending when they all... destroyed each other in war. the doctrine&covenants and the pearl of great price are both stuff from the prophets and apostles in the early days of the church! also, joseph smith (the "founder" of the church) did a retranslation of some parts of the bible. pretty neat!

now that thats out of the way, ur question - where to learn more! if there's a mormon church anywhere in your area (which is pretty likely, esp if u live in the usa) then you can reach out to that church and/or any missionaries on the area! u can attend church at a mormon church without being a member, and plenty of ppl do! ppl r very welcoming there! the missionaries can always teach u more! also, if u download the lds gospel library app (or use the library), u have access to all the lds materials! this is the bible, book of mormon, etc, but other stuff too. for example, theres the 3-volume book "saints" which is all about church history! its very detailed but not hard to listen to or read at all, and it focuses on individuals to help paint the story of how the church formed and was built (i love saints if u cant tell)

i love being mormon and wouldnt trade it for anything. however i feel like warning u that at the moment, the church has a bit of a toxic culture regarding queer stuff, and it can be rlly hard to deal with esp as a queer person who genuinely believes in all the true concepts that the church upholds. but! its absolutely not impossible! #queerstake right here on tumblr is a shining example <3

anyway im only one mormon teenager on the internet, so id suggest checking out the gosepl library, talking to missionaries, and even attending a session on sunday to see what its like if u feel like it. also go ahead and look thru the #queerstake and #tumblrstake tags, bcs theres a lot of both rlly good insight and rlly good community there! feel free to reach out to other posters in that tag for more info if this wasn't sufficient ^^ and good luck, anon!!

hehehehe, hello. it's an idea me and @hymbeauxs were talking about recently!! the basic gist is: what if lonely nerd gordon and troubled loner warren met as kids and got to make each other's lives a little better by growing up as friends? some thoughts!

It's 1993, Warren and Gordon are two lonely, nerdy kids who meet in line on opening night to see Jurassic Park. (We originally discussed them meeting at a showing of LOTR, bc you just know Gordon was vibrating with excitement when those films came out.)

They live in two different parts of town, they don't go to school together. Gordon doesn't know anything about Warren's family, Warren doesn't know anything about Gordon getting bullied at school. They just happen across each other at this movie they're both bonkers excited for, and they bond over it.

Gordon makes one of his dorky but endearing jokes, and just like that they're friends. They sit next to each other during the movie. In the dark, Warren smiles over how excitable Gordon is when anything cool happens onscreen.

They swap phone numbers and keep up their burgeoning friendship by sneakily calling each other. Gordon's parents are a little absent, and Warren's dad is...difficult, so usually Warren will call Gordon first.

And, god, it's just nice. Warren isn't used to having friends, so having Gordon to talk to makes his chest feel funny (in a good way).

Warren learns about Lord of the Rings after Gordon flips over him never having heard of it and proceeds to tell him the entire plot. ("Seriously, Warren. You have to read it. I will lend you my copy, just. Please.")

He does read it. Warren likes Arwen a lot. For some reason, she makes him think of Gordon. Warren doesn't dwell on it.

Some snapshots of their friendship as they get older:

Whereas Gordon is the LOTR nerd, Warren is lowkey a walking encyclopedia of dinosaur facts. Them hanging out is peak neurodivergent to neurodivergent communication.

When they're a little older, Warren will sometimes sneak out to go visit Gordon. Gordon's parents are gone a lot, but he feels less lonely when Warren is there. They even come up with a secret knock so Gordon can always tell it's Warren whenever he comes over.

At age 15/16, Warren gets sentenced to some time in a juvenile detention place for punching Clive. Clive absolutely deserved it, but Warren very rarely gets treated fairly, so off he goes to be punished. He worries what Gordon will think. He didn't expect that Gordon would follow through on his promise to call as often as possible. But he does. For the time Warren is in juvie, talking to Gordon on the phone is a fucking lifeline for him.

When Warren gets out, he learns that Gordon is in a band now. His heart beats very very fast the first time he sees Gordon perform.

*how many of these are going to make sense considering the ninja have canon parents? read on and find out, I can tell you right now Lloyd's definitely doesn't

The Upply (come on I have to start with Ninjago's local D&D crew on a post where I specifically assign Ninjago characters D&D classes, alignments, and races)

Plundar - Chaotic good tabaxi rogue. I've mentioned Plundar being a tabaxi in my mind a few times lol

Fungus - True neutral half-elf sorcerer. No specific reason for Fungus being a half-elf, but I've been obsessed with Honor Among Thieves so I wouldn't be surprised if that influenced it lol

Korgran - Chaotic good barbarian. I'm leaning towards half-orc for his race but I'm not entirely sure tbh

The Ninja

Jay - Chaotic neutral wood elf bard. Can't explain why I chose wood elf but I definitely see him being a elf of some sort and a bard.

Cole - Chaotic good human fighter. I also think Cole could fit into the barbarian class, but I'm leaning more towards him being in the fighter class. Not entirely sure why.

Kai - Chaotic neutral dragonborn sorcerer. It just makes sense to me, idk

Zane - Lawful good half-elf paladin. ZANE WILL ALWAYS BE A PALADIN IN MY MIND AND YOU CAN FIGHT ME (also I know most people would probably make him a warforged because he's a robot but here's me disagreeing because I like the idea of Zane being elvish in nature, and him being a half-elf still provides some of the outsider-ness of him being a robot in the original show, due to how half-elves are treated by humans and elves alike within the universe of D&D)

Lloyd - Chaotic good dragonborn rogue. I will not elaborate on Lloyd being a rogue because I don't know how to lmao

Nya - Chaotic neutral dragonborn barbarian. I don't need to explain why I gave her the barbarian class

The Ninja's Allies

Wu - Lawful good human wizard. Iykyk

Garmadon - Chaotic neutral tiefling rogue. Initially I was gonna say his alignment would be chaotic evil, but I wouldn't say he's ever really evil tbh, even in seasons 8 and 9 (I'm not analyzing that right now, go away)

Misako - Neutral good human ranger. Idk either lol

Dareth - Chaotic good dwarf monk. Look, it just makes sense, let's move on lol

Ronin - Chaotic neutral human rogue. Ronin being a chaotic neutral rogue is basically canon, I'm just adding a D&D race *shrug*

Pixal - Neutral good half-elf fighter. It just makes sense lol

Okino - Neutral good human ranger. Don't really know how to explain myself on this one

Mystake - Chaotic good tiefling druid. TRUST ME HERE LOL

My brain decided to stop working after I came up with Mystake so I might come up with more later, but for now, Ninjago characters but I have assigned them D&D classes, races, and alignments 😌

Also, feel free to let me know your opinions on these. Have O P I N I O N S on what race a chose for a specific character, or have a solid idea for what race Korgran should be? Let me know in the notes, I love hearing what other people have to say on my posts like this :D

Untitled Aizawa Shota x Female Reader

Plan to do a longer fic on this later, but given the prompt I was given this is the general idea I've got so far. May make a few tweaks here and there. The biggest wall right now is a good, flashy title. Kind of thinking maybe "Pride and Prejudice" because I feel like that would fit but I'm focusing on other fics at the moment so that may change when I have more time to write the longer version.

Also thinking that the reader probably has a cat quirk...for reasons that I don't care to elaborate on but you can feel free to speculate on. She looks primarily human but has cat ears, a tail, retractable nails/claws, and night vision. Despite being employed at UA, she is not a hero. She's basically kind of like a foreign exchange teacher lol.

A young teacher who's always wanted to go to Japan, you jump when then opportunity to teach English at the legendary hero school UA is offered to you. The teachers you'll be working with are all amazing, and mostly friendly...except for one. Aizawa Shota.

Where the other teachers are welcoming and curious, he brushes you off as a pointless distraction. He doesn't bully you, but he's not exactly going out of his way to be nice either. Your opinion of him is rather low, especially since he's incredibly harsh with his students and doesn't put much effort into his appearance. What kind of teacher does that to their students?

The two of you regularly bicker back and forth. Him critiquing you and you judging him. Until you saw him after the USJ. Until you saw recorded footage of the USJ incident. Until you saw him, beaten and bloodied, pushing his quirk far past its limit to protect his students. It was then that you realized that he was hard for a reason. Hero work was hard. He wanted his students to be able to hold their own against villains in the future. He wanted his students to be the ones that never had to worry about a villain taking them down. He wanted his students to survive, to live much, much longer lives than he ever would. He was a better man than you had initially given him credit for.

You visited him in the hospital and you hated to admit that you were worried for him. But Recovery Girl assured you that he would be fine. Still, you stayed by his side for a long while. Apparently, under those baggy clothes he always wore were finely sculpted muscles. Behind that messy head of hair was a hard looking face made soft when asleep. Somehow, these became very long lol But I like them, it's always fun writing realistic responses (of course from my view)

Kominato Ryousuke

May not believe you outright, but since he trusts you (which is a serious thing), he takes you seriously from the outset.

His reaction to your confession is vague. He accepts your words with his sharp smile and moves on. Even though he doesn’t say anything about it, you’re left feeling like he really listened and so probably don’t feel the need to keep pushing.

The suspicion is sparked in him though, and he begins to pay close attention to his s/os behavior. Since watching, and spying, is his thing, it doesn’t take long for him to confirm that what you said was true.

Takes the cheating personally – he was careful with his choice of partner and is surprisingly devoted in a relationship. Hates that he wasted so much time on them. He’s probably pretty mean about how he breaks up with them, and if he catches them in the act, the other person is so terrified that they break up with them too.

He can also be pretty petty, so former s/o runs in to problems for a little while.

He doesn’t mourn them, and uses his new found free time on you. Definitely spoils you for telling him – after all, Ryou knows how scary it must have been, and the knowledge that you valued him that much pleases him greatly.

Probably makes you his confidant going forward, which is a big deal, since he doesn’t reveal things easily or often

(I can see this situation leading to an eventual relationship with you in the future, if that’s what you want)

Miyuki Kazuya

He doesn’t react well. Betrayal is a huge thing to him, so the idea that his s/o is betraying him is difficult to believe for him. He was closed off, so once trust is given, it’s hard to dislodge.

Doesn’t know why you are saying shit like that, and it hurts him that you would do it. Gets very cold and cutting and just walks away.

Get ready for blizzard time.

Mochi notices the change right away, but can’t get it out of Miyuki, so he makes you explain. He’s torn, because it’s hard to believe that s/o would do that to Miyuki of all people, but he also knows how much you care for the catcher and that you aren’t the type that just makes things up for attention, or to hurt people. At the very least, he thinks you believe it, which makes him a little more inclined to believe it himself.

But he knows Miyuki, as you do, and there was nothing you do to force him to see anything he didn’t want to see. Advises you to just bear it for now, since he would eventually figure it out and then realize what an idiot he was being.

He is an idiot, especially about people. Miyuki misses you, even if he pretends he doesn’t, and as he works through his anger, he can’t let go of why you would say it, which leads him to pay more attention to s/o’s behavior.

It ends up being a convoluted thing, involving a lot of lies, which Miyuki finally catches out. He’s hurt and pissed over the s/o, but he’s just as angry that they cost his relationship with you.

Is terrible at apologizing, but he slinks back, refusing to look at you, his face red as he fussed with his hair. The apology is muttered, but he admits he should have listened to you, so that’s good enough.

Kuramochi Youichi

Since he has an explosive temper sometimes, lacks emotional regulation and often acts without thinking… beware of Mochi’s wrath.

He’s livid at first, especially in the moment. Totally yells at you not to interfere and that you’re just jealous, though he doesn’t elaborate about what. Probably ends the rant with “You don’t know anything!”

Completely blind to your hurt… at first

He’s mad at you for a day or two until he calms down and realizes that even though you were wrong, you had just been trying to help and you hadn’t been judgmental or negative about his s/o, not really. He’s then ashamed of blowing up at you, and really awkward, because he knows he’s in the wrong (for yelling), but he can’t ignore the fact that you thought so little of his s/o.

His guilt is made worse by the side eye he gets from Miyuki, and the frowns from Nori, Shirasu and Nabe. Miyuki absolutely picks up on this and actively snubs him lol it’s not that he believes you anymore than Mochi, it’s just that he doesn’t like how his best friend treated you, and he enjoys pissing Mochi off.

He’s the kind of partner that is generally blind to his partner’s faults – like he knows they have them, but since they are a part of his s/o he just accepts them. This leads him to some naivety, since he believes almost anything they tell him.

In the end, it’s Miyuki that makes him see what is right in front of him. He’s not nice about it either, and he comes with evidence. Miyuki’s more used to his temper, so even if he blows up at him, the catcher’s not blinking an eye.

He can’t dispute proof, and the pictures Miyuki shows him make him sick to his stomach. Miyuki couldn’t give two shits about soon-to-be former s/o and instead tells him that he better go apologize to you. He’s tired of being in the middle of them lol

He seeks you out before he dumps s/o, approaching you with proverbial hat in hand. Just sort of blurts his feelings and tells you surprisingly quietly that he’s sorry, and that he should have listened to you, and definitely didn’t mean what he said about your jealous.

Great question! I’m sure you’re not the only one confused, so I’ll try my best to explain it well. Okay. So, when Tikki and Vecna “unify” in ch. 18, it’s meant to be very different from how unifying kwamis works in MLB, and that is because of Vecna. As opposed to being an entirely new kwami, Vecna is half of Tikki. “Unifying” the two, in my story, is more like recombining two halves of a broken kwami. When I say “broken,” I mean how Tikki was losing control of her creation power (as well as her miraculous literally being cracked). To put the unification process simply: “broken” Tikki + Vecna should make a Normal Tikki. However! Vecna was created by a dark/fundamental magic that is “of the Earth.” That magic is not compatible with normal kwamis (who come from space). Because Vecna and Tikki can’t fully recombine, they have a partial unity. They are both tied to Will’s soul and bonded to each other, which stabilizes Tikki (filling in her cracked miraculous), but they can never recombine fully.

If the explanation for unifying doesn’t make sense, then don’t worry too much. 😊 It’s not super important how it works. All that matters is Will has two kwamis. He can’t ever take off his earrings or renounce his two miraculous. And he can switch between his upside down powers and his ladybug powers

But on a note of speculation, since we all know the big reveal of Cryptid!Sun/Moon is a heavy topic in our minds;

what exactly would happen if Y/n were to be okay with them not being a friendly robot?

To elaborate, what if the ‘big reveal’ happens and Y/n is just like: “Oh, cool Cryptids can be friendly no reason to be scared lol.” After the initial shock?

Would it alter their view on cryptids entirely? Would they stop hunting them knowing that some of them can experience feelings and possess awareness like Cryptid!Sun/Moon?

Or, would they just keep hunting cryptids, but only the terroristic and antagonizing ones that are a real threat to people?

Reasons why I think Whit isn’t the ch 2 killer because I am mega coping

Spoilers for drdt ch 2 (and mybe stuff before that? idk)

While I do think Whit is still hiding something (I’ve talked about on other posts so I’m not gonna elaborate on that here), I pretty confident he isn’t the killer. Here’s why:

1. He has no motive (or at least no motive outside of escaping, which everyone has).

Basically he mentioned multiple times that he wasn’t concerned about his secret being revealed and that he didn’t know what it even was, now it’s possible he could have lied about this but, in the trial he admits his own secret when he didn’t have to. Now let’s say for a second that he claimed a secret that wasn’t his, first of all, why? If he didn’t want people knowing his secret, it would’ve been far easier to not say anything, after all at the time, they were revealing whose secret they received, and not their own, so had he said nothing about his own, no one would’ve said anything. But then you might be thinking, “oh he just claimed a dead student’s secret since Rose couldn’t confirm or deny it”. I think it’s extremely unlikely that either Min or Xander’s secrets were mixed in with the alive people. Initially, everyone was supposed to receive their own motive, so why would monotv give out motives to people who can’t receive them and when monotv gave out the motives, no one mentioned there being extra ones on the floor or getting more than one motive. So if Whit did claim someone else’s secret, it’s highly likely he would’ve been called out on it, whether it was immediately or not. Therefore the secret he said was his is like 99% likely to be his, also the secret he said was his fits with what little information we know about him. So if was so willing to say what his secret was, then why would he kill if he doesn’t have the motive of hiding his secret?

2. He didn’t write the note

First of all, Charles is confirmed to know what Whit’s handwriting looks like, since he mentioned Whit doting his I’s with hearts, so if that note had looked anything like Whit’s handwriting, Charles would’ve said something. It’s possible that he wrote it and put the note somewhere were Arei could see it, but I feel like that’d be risky, since it seems like him and Charles spent a lot of time together, so unless they were working together (which I seriously doubt).

3. I feel like it wouldn’t be a good idea from a writing standpoint

Now obviously I’ve never written a full blown story before so I’m probably talking out of my ass here, but if you think about it Whit hasn’t done that much in the story thus far. He hasn’t really had a moment of his own if you know what I mean. You could argue him defending Charles in chapter 1 counts but that was really more about Charles then it was him imo. Like when you really think about it all Whit has really done in the story is be comic relief and help with Charles’s character development. I just feel like it’d be a waste to kill him off now especially since his character is very confusing(?) if you know what I mean, I feel there is a lot left to be explored with him. I felt the same with Arei but since she was a victim, her character development was done via flashbacks, but you can’t really do that with the killers. I just feel as though it would be a waste to have all this mysterious set up around him rn and then just kill him off, but maybe i’m just super biased.

this is honestly really sloppy, cause I’m like half awake right now, but i need to get through the hiatus somehow lol

if anyone has any counterpoints feel free to comment them and I’ll try to give my thoughts

I do think there’s something that Whit is hiding but I really don’t think he killed Arei.

Giggles this is a delightful ask (full of delightful colors!! That really is fun)

1. Fav song at the moment idk if this counts but the wellness session music from Severence is crazy good and I've been listening to it on repeat. The other one at the moment is Movies by Weyes Blood (that I am actually about to make a music Monday post for!)

2. I haven't seen the Walten Files but I have seen a bit of the Mandela Catalogue which what I saw was very good and also very scary lol the eyes thing freaks me out a bit, gives me kind of a palinopsia where I can't get it out of my head so I haven't seen much of it

3. Both good for their own reasons, both I especially enjoy the "sire" aspect and I do really appreciate the predatory nature of both, among other things. Though I always pick werewolves at the end bc 1 nothing can beat the knot and 2 Big Doggies!! They are big silly doggey guys who can eviscerate you to shreds and I looovvee that. Get you a woofer who can hunt you down and is also a big cuddly doofus

4. For TMA this is a toughie bc Eye is really appealing I mean heck I get real curious by stuff to my own detriment (see: my curiosity for what TMA was about and ending up terribly disappointed when I finished it) and just the inherent Eye nature of the audience. Meanwhile Slaughter really speaks to me, along with Flesh (see: my meat posting tag) and also Spiral. I was scared for the longest time of being crazy but I'm now a lot more at peace with my crazy lol (however when it comes to trusting myself or even knowing myself... haha .. lol even) but okay back to Slaughter and Flesh. Slaughter bc I get that fun "very often triggered by very normal and mundane things" disease so I find myself wanting to go ape shit all the time. A little "can I kill your dad and also that loud noise" in these trying times. And Flesh? Partially bc I can be a bit of a masochist and I also just heavily subscribe to the idea of how our Meat Suits are what makes us "present." Like for a while I struggled with my identity and who am I when I'm present and what does that even mean to begin with. In the end I think it's what's going on with your meat and in your meat space, and I find a lot of grounding and meaning in that. (Heh, ground meat) You are who's experiencing the Meat

None of us thinks we're owed ANYTHING but like... I came up in fandom in the 90s and 2000s, where people were sharing stuff in newsgroups and on forums and then livejournal. It was a community and everyone interacted with each other and shared their thoughts and commented on fics! Fics launched whole discussions and more fics about similar topics. Now it feels like fandom is so isolated, and people put creators in some separate box where they will consume what they create but not dare interact. And it's weird! We're all just part of fandom, flailing around and trying to have to fun.

Now there's this social media like button culture where people (not just in fandom) will leave a like and move on and that's fine except it doesn't feel as personal and creates this lonely atomosphere. It's so passive, as you said, and as someone who's spending a lot of their free time and brain power crafting fics because I'm excited about the characters or an idea and I want to share, putting it out there and getting nothing back is so demoralizing.

And then of course there's the insecurity. Most writers have it in spades so when we post something and the response is... lackluster... the first thought is often "Well, apparently this one sucks." It creates all kinds of doubt! And then if you're me, sometimes you feel stupid for posting at all and wonder if you should take it down. (I talk myself out of this and then more comments come in and I feel better - although lately comments are hard to come by after the first couple of days a fic is live!)

But I digress. It's just this whole thing and it's weird because no one owes anyone comments or compliments, but creating into a void is depressing and unsatisfying and it's going to lead to people not bothering to share what they make. And that's a bummer, because fandom is all about sharing and conversing and having fun as a group. Otherwise I can just tell my headcanons to my cats, who are always happy to listen.

But you always do your part!! I love your messages and they always make me feel like I've succeeded. So thank you so much again for your kind words! I really am proud of that fic and I hope people will start to realize that a quick comment is worth so much to fic writers. It doesn't need to be elaborate!

And LOL yes, I love the idea of Daniel being so busy battling digital zombies that he's just.. not involved in the last book. Armand calls from time to time and Daniel talks him off a ledge and then fights his way through another zombie-infested building. 😂😂😂 This is my current theory and I'm sticking to it.

Hii!! I read your fic Into darker Water and I loved it SO much!! The way you wrote he xuan and sqx's dynamic post canon was very realistic and it did a very good job of doing justice to both their characters and principles. They have a very complicated relationship and it's very hard to pull off romance between them without undoing or dismissing their individual struggles and motives. And you have the biggest KUDOS form me for writing such an amazing fic!! It's one of my absolute favourites of shuangxuan! ❤️ I go back to read that fic again and again. Thank you so much!! Into Deeper Water is the longest thing I've ever written, in part because it is indeed very difficult to reconcile these two after everything that's happened between them. I'm very happy to know my attempt at it resonates with other people! And I'm actually doing pretty well right now, I've had pretty severe writer's block for like 2 years now but got into doing other creative things and am slowly feeling like poking my toes back into writing. Probably not for TGCF but who knows!

As for your questions: It's been a while since I read/thought about the book but let me see..

1) I feel like they'd have a very private and deeply bittersweet wedding ceremony, since there's so much baggage around each other's families and the idea of marriage. But then afterwards, possibly with some time between, they'd have a huge fancy wedding reception where Shi Qingxuan cheerfully accepts that He Xuan will show up for five minutes then go invisible to snack on the elaborate banquet. But He Xuan does make the effort to begrudgingly accept congratulations from the few people he genuinely likes (and swipes food from anyone he doesn't).

2) It's after meeting Pei Ming's ex, though still in Book 1. It's the part where they go to Banyue in the desert.

I wanted to link some of the more informed discussion I saw around this topic when that part of the donghua came out but can't find anything, so will just construct what I can from the posts I made at the time.

The country of Banyue is located in north-western China, which in real life is the home of the Uyghur ethnic minority, who are mostly Muslim.

In the novel, the native inhabitants of the region are depicted as violent, mindlessly expansionistic, xenophobic terrorists who shout about having been invaded as an excuse to bomb innocent people. This is the description of their leader, Kei Mo: "His complexion was as dark as iron, while his facial features seemed vicious and aggressive. In fact, his face appeared similar to that of a beast’s." I am far from an expert on how ethnic prejudice and Islamophobia manifest in China, but that's pretty blatant.

And in real life, the Chinese government is currently committing genocide against the Uyghurs with the excuse that their culture and religion is inherently violent. So it was beyond unfortunate for MXTX to construct a plot where their fictional equivalent are literal suicide bombers and the only way to deal with them is to commit complete genocide.

Luckily this plot gets dropped after that section of the story, and it's arguably not notably worse than the Islamophobia that commonly shows up in Western media, especially fantasy. But I still feel like it's good to give people a heads up.
