“The safest place is in your arms” for the bradshwas please!
We got a little angsty with this one, but I hope you enjoy!
Before the kids came along, whenever Bradley returned from a mission or a deployment, you knew that you’d be spending at least three solid days in bed with him. Usually more.
It wasn’t just sex, though that was certainly part of it. That first day or two, you’d spend hours upon hours becoming reacquainted with one another’s bodies, describing without words how much you’d missed each other, how much you’d longed for these moments when it was just you and him and the rest of the world faded away.
But it was more than that. Every time Bradley came home again, every time he defied death and made it back safely into your arms, he wanted nothing more than to be held there. Sometimes you’d spend hours simply tangled up in each other’s arms, neither of you uttering a word, just listening to the sound of your hearts beating in tandem. Sometimes Bradley would talk about what he had experienced, about the dangers he’d faced and the emotions he’d felt. Sometimes he’d sob into your chest, clinging to you as you ran your fingers through his hair and whispered soothing words into his ear.
Even when you did have to leave the comfort of your bed to make food or take a bath, Bradley’s arms were always wrapped tightly around you, not wanting to let you out of his sight for a moment.
You understood and you always held him for as long as he needed.
One night, after gently tracing the line of Bradley’s cheek with your fingertips until his eyes began to close, you wrapped your arms tightly around him and held him close, resting your cheek against the top of his head.
“Thank you, honey,” he mumbled sleepily, pressing a soft kiss to your collarbone. “The safest place in the world is in your arms.”

Sunny Day Jack - Cat AU
Okay, so, two particular pieces of beautifully drawn fan art have collided together in my head to create a light and fluffy self-indulgent image that I just had to share with you all.
@okamiliqueur's heartbreaking picture of Jack's lonely and forgotten box from the new demo made me think of cats abandoned in boxes, "free to a good home." Only in the case of the game's story, he was left out in the rain to rot, the owner having given up giving him a good home.
@jazzylovetodraw's picture of Jack as a cat has been buzzing in my mind for quite a while. I just love how precious he looks in both forms, and when I was thinking of Jack being like those abandoned kittens in cardboard boxes... well, the combination was obvious.
I know that Jack's fursona is a snake, and I know being a cat is Shaun's thing, but I'm a sucker for kitties. I'm as biased towards cats as I am for dragons, if my avatar and username didn't offer enough of a hint. ;3 I'd love to see all the characters as kitties honestly.
Tempting though it may be to go with Fruits Basket rules for kitty Jack, like I toyed with over on twitter, I think I'm going to play with a different and simpler set of rules. In this universe, Jack is stuck as a cat until his sunshine's love allows him to become human again.
Admittedly, it's kind of hard to imagine Jack being alone for very long when he looks so adorable. Who wouldn't fall in love with that precious kitty face instantly? Most everyone would be putty in his paws.
Content Warning: I wind up touching on a couple explicit headcanon details near the end. I mean, I did say this is a pretty self-indulgent image with my OTP.
Maybe Jack was stuck as a cat via a curse ala Hocus Pocus and is guarding the box/tape/etc. Maybe he was stuck as a cat instead of in the tape and no one could see him until MC came along. Maybe he's got a tragic backstory like the cat from Fruits Basket.
Since this AU is more about the vibes, I'm just going to leave the how and why parts of the lore up in the air. All that matters is that Jack is stuck as a cat and left out in the rain in a cardboard box until MC decides to take him home.
I'm just going to switch over to Alice and what she would do in this scenario. Poor lonely Alice is out on the town, when she comes across the box out in the rain and sees an equally lonely kitten. Poor little thing, all wet and sad... She just has to take him home with her.
Alice cleans Jack up, gets him wrapped up all nice and warm in a blanket, and even gives him some chicken she bought for her own dinner that night. She'll have to get cat food and other things for her new furry companion tomorrow, though she should probably look for his owner and take him to a vet.
At first, Jack isn't sure what to do about the situation, though he is grateful. No one has even acknowledged his existence until Alice came along. She's so soft and warm. He loves it when she holds him. She's so kind too.
Alice does find it surprising Jack doesn't put up a fuss when being given a bath. Jack didn't exactly like the feeling of being all grimy, and don't get him started on fleas and other gross things cats have to deal with on the streets!
The vet isn't as fun, though Jack is well behaved, though very clingy to Alice throughout the appointment. He can't help but fear that she'll abandon him too. He'll keep up the helpless and adorably needy kitty act if it means she'll stay with him.
There's no ID chip, no tag, and no missing notice for any cat that looks like Jack. It's clear that the poor guy is a stray.
Alice is hesitant initially. She's wanted to get a pet cat for a long time now, but she has barely been able to take care of herself. How can she handle taking care of an innocent life that needs her when she's struggling so much with her own life?
That hesitation doesn't last long. Jack loves on Alice so much, constantly purring and snuggling up to her. He curls up with her when she sleeps or relaxes. He was hesitant at first, and she assumed that was because he was wary of her, when in reality, he just didn't want to cross any of her boundaries. He didn't want to do anything that might upset her and make her get rid of him. When she started petting and cuddling him, he wholeheartedly returned the affection, absolutely starved for it.
The first thing Alice thought when she saw Jack was that he was lonely, just like her. He's so sweet and can't stand to be apart from her. How can she just get rid of him when he makes her feel loved and needed?
Of course, a cat's life isn't all sunshine and rainbows. Cat food is a step down from people food, and a litterbox is anything but sanitary. Jack just skips that nonsense and goes straight to using the toilet despite the awkwardness, which shocks the heck out of Alice. He also snubs all cat food in favor of human food.
Yes, I could go with Jack being a ghost(?) cat that doesn't need food or to use the toilet, but then he wouldn't have gone through the indignities of a vet visit.
Then again... it would be funny if Alice brought Jack to the vet, only for them to think she's crazy, since to them all she's carrying is empty air.
Hmm... yeah, I think I'll go that route. As hilarious as vet hijinks and typical cat care with Jack while he possesses a human mind and identity might be, this would be a more interesting and tragic route. No one else can see Jack but Alice. He's lived for who knows how long in a world full of people that don't see him at all, unable to even be human anymore. It'd be a different type of hell than the one in the video tape, similar to what I talked about in my previous ramble.
Imagine if the 1984 incident Jack died and became a ghost(?) cat because he was secretly a cat shape shifter or something. Or maybe something more supernatural happened during the incident. Either way, cat ghost(?) Jack is very, very lonely.
Man, I just realized, it would be even more tragic (and complicated) if I go with the reincarnation route for this AU. Ghost(?) cat Jack probably had to watch Mary die slowly in the hospital after the incident, unable to help her or let her know that it's him. He couldn't even offer her comfort in her final days. It would've been so traumatizing.
For now, let's just play with this AU without the reincarnation angle, since this is supposed to be mostly light and fluffy feline fun with the OTP.
Jack, even as a cat, tries to do his best to help Alice out. If he can make himself useful, make her need him, then he won't ever lose her. He sneaks out when she goes to work to keep her company even though she initially tried to get him to stay home. No one sees him, so it won't matter. Besides, petting an invisible kitty is a good stress relief when dealing with awful customers, and certainly beats regular stimming.
The more Alice cares for Jack, the more powers he gets back, starting with the ability to talk. It's a huge shock for Alice of course, but Jack makes it clear that it's because of her love for him that made her stronger.
Of course, that love is platonic, at least at the start, which Jack knows full well, but he'll work on shifting things to a romantic love... especially after he gets the power to shift back into a form that has hands.
Like in typical canon, Jack answers Alice's questions as best he can. He probably lost his sense of identity like in game canon, so he references CloudyTown and stuff "he" did there, mixing up the show's lore with his own past. It's also intermingled with his many years spent wandering the streets being ignored and going crazy from the loneliness.
Jack does let Alice know that he used to be able to change from a cat to human. He just... can't anymore. He thinks it was because he was forgotten. He doesn't know why no one can see him until Alice came along.
It's so sad and tragic that Alice can't be unmoved by his plight. Sure, it makes things a bit awkward knowing that Jack is sentient and used to have a human form, but she feels for him. It also makes sense now why Jack always turned away whenever she changed.
Yes, Jack could have peeked. He could have even watched Alice while she was bathing, but he didn't. He refuses to do anything she won't allow. Cuddling her and sleeping in her bed is innocent, but the thoughts he'd have about her when she was undressing were anything but. He loves her too much to take advantage of her innocent trust in him. He needs her to want him to see her in that vulnerable state... even if it drives him crazy lusting over her. Poor pitiful kitty can't even have a good wank off session with his paws.
Still, despite knowing that Jack was human and is sentient, it's hard for Alice not to fall for his feline charms and not think too deeply about that fact. She still winds up cuddling him and petting him.
Of course, when it first hits Alice that she's treating a human like a pet, she stops and apologizes, but Jack insists that it's fine. He enjoys their cuddle time. He gives her the big, pleading kitty eyes as he begs her not to stop, and she can't help but give in.
Awkwardness soon fades and settles into a strange new normal. Alice does wonder if Jack really is real or if she was just so lonely she imagined something this crazy... but his presence is comforting. He keeps her company almost all the time. She doesn't feel alone anymore thanks to him.
Also... now that Jack can talk, he says such sweet things. It's weird to have a "pet" take care of her, but he reminds her of when it's time to brush her teeth, wakes her up for work, helps her get chores done despite how awkward it is with his paws and small size... It's so endearing.
The encouragement and assistance Jack gives Alice is wonderful, and his jokes are so fun and silly, but it's the praise that leaves her feeling flustered. If she didn't know any better, she could swear that he's almost flirting with her sometimes. She's in denial that's what it is, but it feels nice to be told that she's cute, and Jack is so sincere about it... and how can she not melt when he says sweet things with such a sweet face?
It's one morning that things change drastically. Alice's bond with Jack strengthened over time to the point that Jack finally can change back into a mostly human form, though he does have cat ears, a fluffy tail, and whisker markings.
It was a big surprise to them both really, as Jack transformed in his sleep. Alice had gotten used to cuddling up to a talking cat during the night, so it was a shock to wake up in a pair of big muscular arms. Jack was so happy when waking her that morning, giddy to show her his (mostly) human side, that it slipped his mind what a shock it would be.
Naturally, Alice bolted back against the wall away from the stranger in her bed. Jack quickly started reassuring her of who he was and that she wasn't in danger. He stooped down to her level, pretty much wilting really, with ears folded back, as he apologized for scaring her. He was just so happy that he wasn't thinking about how it must look from her side...
Seeing Jack so pitiful and sad, Alice feels her heart go out to him. Once things calm down, she can't help but be amazed by how he looks. Unthinkingly, she reaches up to pet his ears and feel how they attach to his skull. She only fully realizes how forward she's being when Jack starts purring.
Flustered, Alice immediately pulls back, only for Jack to whine at the loss of her touch. He didn't mind it at all. He always loves it when she cuddles with him.
It's a complicated feeling for Alice. On the one hand they've been very close for so long. On the other, Jack is definitely a human, so it feels different now.
Yet, Jack is so sweet. He's mindful of her hesitation, even if he's disappointed. It's harder for him to hide his feelings with such expressive ears. Alice can't help but want to reach out to him, especially after they've already spent so much time together, getting to know one another. He's chased away the loneliness that had been haunting her for so, so long.
Of course, now that Jack has a human form, Alice finds her feelings slipping into "dangerous" territory. He makes her feel so good, so loved, and she feels for him too. She doesn't want to dare assume he might feel anything more for her than just a friend, but she can't help but notice the way he looks at her, the way he clearly longs to be near her. He's so tender and gentle... and they've already been so cuddly.
It's easier for Alice to find herself cuddling up to Jack, letting him and taking guilty pleasure from his gentle warmth. He pets her hair too in return, and it feels surprisingly good... a bit too good at times.
The line between friend or something more blurs with all the cuddles and petting. Alice feels guilty about it, but Jack keeps encouraging her until, finally, something has to give and their relationship changes. Both of them feel relieved when it does, as they couldn't help but worry that their feelings might not be reciprocated.
In a lot of ways, it's pretty close to the normal continuity, just with some fuzzy ears on top. Jack can change into a cat at will now. As he gets stronger, people can start to see him, perhaps as a feline silhouette, or maybe with some unsettling shadows not from a cat. He's certainly going to be a bit territorial and not be afraid to hiss and use his claws if absolutely necessary.
Still, this kitty is pretty content thanks to Alice. Jack loves it when Alice carries him around as a teeny kitty, warm and snuggly against her chest, even in the cleavage of her shirt at times. Naturally, he returns the favor, carrying her around the apartment as often as possible. It's only fair after all~!
Naturally, Jack wants to get intimate with Alice as soon as she lets him. He's so pent up. Even with hands to take care of himself, all the cuddling and now kisses just make him ache for her even more. He longs to be inside her, biting her gently and growling in pleasure as he takes her.
A bonus with Jack being part cat is that he gets to have some vibrating action when he purrs. It adds a whole new dimension to their lovemaking, whether he's using his mouth on her sensitive parts, or thrusting himself deep inside.
Oh, I'm reminded of the cat-like features I mentioned in the Omegaverse AU. I guess Jack, having feline features, would have a dick that's ribbed for her pleasure too. Tongue too. Neither would be sharp because rule of sexy, but it would add a very pleasurable texture that a clever man like Jack is going to take full advantage of~
Of course, Alice can take advantage of those feline features too. The base of Jack's tail and ears are quite sensitive, and she quickly learns what spots get his motor running. Of course, getting Jack excited will lead to him pouncing on her and getting rather frisky, but Alice would certainly be expecting that result~
I can imagine Jack could make himself look fully human without any feline features, but he knows Alice finds his cat side to be adorable. She has a hard time resisting petting him when his ears and tail are out, and he certainly wants to encourage her to pet him as much as possible. He also wants to encourage her to let him pet her as much as possible.
Of course, if Jack can become powerful enough that other people can see him, he'll have to stick with only cat or human form when out in public. Still, even when other people can see and hear him, he prefers to be in Alice's company. Cats have their preferred human, and Alice is Jack's.
Naturally, Jack would have to be sneaky about showing Alice love when in public if there's a chance of getting caught. Good thing he has that perfectly innocent little kitty form to hide in. I can imagine it would lead to some interesting interactions where someone shows up only to find Alice incredibly flustered with a slightly disheveled appearance, while her "pet" Jack is just casually looking smug, as all cats do.
Person: Whoa, what happened to you?
Alice, not looking them in the eye: Uh... Jack, m-my cat just... ah, got a bit excited.
Person: Heh. Cats, am I right?
Alice: Haha... right.
Jack: :3c
Hmm... I wonder then if the other love interests should have cat transformations in this AU too. It'd be a crime if Shaun doesn't have that ability but Jack does. Jack already gets together with Alice, so I don't want to be extra cruel to Shaun.
Admittedly, I don't have too many ideas for other characters with cat modes. Well, aside from an image of Shaun taking care of his baby MoonPie by carrying her around by the scruff. This post was mostly just indulging in sweet moments with my OTP with a bit of feline flavor sprinkled on top. Maybe I'll revisit the idea again if I get more ideas than just a bit of fluff.
Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this silly romp with Alice and Jack having some feline fun times!

Russingon 5, 12, 13?
5. "Lies came between them": what are your thoughts on the relationship between Fingon and Maedhros during the fraught period of the Unrest of the Noldor?
I have a few different versions of this! Here's one:
As their fathers increasingly grow apart, Maedhros is generally the one who is more willing to doubt his father. He will never directly go against him, but he will sometimes (in private) voice thoughts along the lines of "dad takes things a little too far" or "I think x is kinda overblown" or w/e. Meanwhile, Fingon is the one who will absolutely stand by Fingolfin no matter what. After all, Fingolfin is the reasonable one, isn't he? He didn't threaten his brother with a sword. He's not endlessly whisking his sons away for stupid arrogant reasons. He's well-spoken and cool-headed and he's a great dad and shut up Maedhros Fingon will not hear a single word against him.
Anyways, one day Maedhros comes to Fingon all exasperated like, "Can you believe it, my father asked me to tell me your comings and goings? I delayed him for now and I'll just tell him the bare minimum but I cannot believe he'd asked me to spy" and Fingon is like "? Well, annoying that he's doing this, but I don't see the big deal. I tell my father everything he asks me about you, it's just what you do" and Maedhros does not talk to him for a year.
(And when he does, pre-EoN, it's very icy).
12: How did the relationship end? Were they together until Fingon’s death, or did they break up before that?
IMO they were back together until Fingon's death! United front at the Union of Maedhros, fucking on the Map table, talking about their cute little plans once they win the war, etc etc. 13: Did they ever get back together after re-embodiment? If so, how did it happen?
Well, if you assume Maedhros gets reembodied... yes, because it's more fun and they're my OTP, haha.
Anyways, I think Maedhros is sort of a recluse post-reembodiment. Very much keeping to himself. Not convinced on the whole living thing. Having issues with himself and also everyone around him.
Fingon has been prepared to dramatically reject him (due to all the, you know, crimes) when he shows up at his doorstep, but... he just keeps not showing up at his doorstep. Which hurts -- they'd been together for centuries, and now Maedhros won't even give him the chance to throw a glass of wine in his face and tell him it was all for nothing. Did he not matter?
Anyways, Fingon starts doing things specifically to get Maedhros' attention (does he know that about himself? IDK. Not always.). These things include garishly competing in jousting tournaments, drunkenly serenading Valinor with Their Song, sucking Ingwion's dick in the public baths so everyone talks about it the next morning, etc etc. All of these things convince Maedhros that Fingon wants absolutely nothing to do with him, so he avoids Fingon harder.
Eventually circumstances force them together, romcom style, and naturally they hook up. And keep hooking up from there. Fingon dares you to say something about it.
(Sobbing regretful confessions of guilt come much later, and they get back together for real, but it takes them some time to get there).

ARC V MONTH DAY 7 - Of Amores, Per the Prophecy
I'm late again lol @arcvmonth Atleast just a few hours this time...
Anyways, quick lil sketch bc i didn't know what to write (which is why its messy and somewhat random. Also its clearer if u press on the pic):
Tumblr media
YuriSere Photo Frame!
(The rest under this is just me ranting abt how much I love the ship & why btw)
I've shipped the two for a long time now lol...
The reason for this was bc I was like: So uh only the fusion counterparts don't have any canonical relationships, huh...
...
...
But then what IF they had? What happened, exactly, if anything? How would they differ from the others based on their attitude, the way they grew up & dimension they came from? How would they get along?
These were the questions—the questions that started it all.
Until now, I'm obsessed with whatever “what if”s abt em and still rlly wished I got to see em interact w/ each other more...
(Duel Links, this is so up to you now... Please, PLEASE...!)
Imma be repeating what other ppl say but another reason why I love them is their F*CKING AESTHETIC.
Blue, Indigo if u rlly want, Green, Purple, Pink, Fuchsia and/or Magenta... *melts*
And im already into space (not much with plants tho) and then there's BAM, EN MOON (also i think she the only one without the 's' at the end bc theres only one moon on earth), COSMOS. Then there's Yuri with his plants and the theory of him loving gardening—FLOWERSSSSS—bc Predaps bitch.
*whispers* Moonflowerssss
But uhm yeah. Behold, YuriSere, my one-and-only precious forever OTP.
(Also what I meant there by “idk what to write” was bc most ideas i have of em are uh... Reserved to be written for the other fics i write. And ive started three drafts for today but didn't know how to end em.)

I absolutely LOVE the Red Team's dynamic lol. If it's okay with you, do you have any headcanons about Raph and April's friendship?
Gladly! I have a whole headcanon on how they bonded and became friends!
In the beginning, Raph and April didn't really get along. Not that they hated each other, it's just they felt they had nothing to talk about and nothing to bond over. Raph just saw her as the girl his brother was crushing on and April thought he was an asshole. It wasn't until Leo's disaster of a love life came into play that these two started to bond and form some sort of friendship. They both were the first to know about Karai and warned Leo about her, and he did not listen. Ever since that day, they've been a judgmental buddy duo, seeing stupid shit go down and texting the other about it, ranting together. The "Leo shit talk" got more insane when they found out she's his sister, and jabs and insult were thrown by the Red Team towards Leo about his failure of a love life. The two would also sometimes bicker from time to time, April wasn't too please when Raph was the one who had to come and save her when she was kidnapped by the Kraang in that one episode, and for a few months, Raph didn't let that fact go, constantly teasing April about it.
That was their dynamic for most of seasons 1-2, but by season 3, the Red Team started to bond and build a friendship beyond "shit talking other people". April and Raph were the only two who took responsibility while at the farmhouse. April truly saw another side of Raph, for she always knew and saw him as the hot headed rebel, but seeing him broken over his brother made April look at him in another light. And with Donnie and Casey finally getting along, April started to rely on hanging out with Raph more since her two best friends had no time for her. Raph in fact started to spar with her, and April in truth liked sparring with Raph more than the other Turtles because she knew he wouldn't hold back on her and give her the challenge that she needed to help her improve. Raph started to see April as the big sister he never had and respected her greatly.
When Mona Lisa entered the picture, thing took a big turn. April couldn't help but fangirl over how cute Raph and his girlfriend were together. They quickly became her OTP. During the season 4 space arc, Raph wrote love letters to Mona Lisa and April was the only one who knew about it because Raph would ask April for advice from time to time on what romantic thing she should say to Mona (and also proofread them lol). I like to think April was the one who gave Raph that push to be more bold and confident with Mona cause "girls like that". April became Raph's go-to for dating advice, and unknown to April has been planning Raph and Mona wedding since they came back from space.
April was defiantly the maid of honor at Raph's wedding and of course becomes the fun loving Auntie April to his kiddies in the future, babying sitting them whenever Raph and Mona go out for date night.
Despite all their fun, the biggest thing that solidified their friendship was Splinter's death. April and Raph were the ones there to witness it first hand. Splinter was right in front of them when Shredder stabbed his blade through their Sensai's stomach, killing him instantly. They have a shared trauma, and after Shredder was killed in the season 4 finale and everything was at peace again, April still felt haunted by what she witnessed. The only person she felt she could talk to about it to, the one person who knew the same pain she was going through, was Raph, but Raph refused to open up. I can imagine that April would try to talk to Raph about it but he would dismiss her, telling her that he's too busy to chat, until one night. Up on a rooftop, April found Raph alone looking up at the stars. After some small talk, Raph finally breaks down, crying to April about everything. Through his tears he tells her how he feels he is to blame for Splinter's death, how he wishes he could've done something instead of "standing there and watching like a coward". He would tell April how he feels he's cursed to always loose people he loves and cares about, "First I lost Spike, then Mona Lisa, and now my dad is gone too! I loose everyone I love!!" April would comfort Raph, hugging him as she cries with him, telling him none of what happened was his fault. She reminds him that those people are still with him, telling Raph "Spike may be gone, but Slash is still around always there for you, and Mona Lisa, though she is beyond the stars, I can guarantee she is thinking of you everyday." April's words get to Raph as she expresses that she is feeling the same way he felt, hopeless and broken, telling Raph she hasn't felt pain like this since she lost her mother.
Their shared trauma and opening up to one another that night is what officially made them become true close friends. They felt that they finally understood each other and grew closer as friends.
Overall, their dynamic is that their both 110% DONE with everyone but one is more ready to result to violence compared to the other:

Are y’all normal or do fictional characters’ slowburn relationships provide purpose and meaning to your life because your everyday life feels like it has no momentum or drive so the thing that you can focus on to push you forward is the hope for next week’s episode and the speculation for what’s to come so you fall asleep to the thought of fictional characters and now you can’t sleep from thinking about normal things and your life felt like it had more meaning when you binge-watched that five season slowburn in two weeks and then it went away so you logged onto tumblr to hold onto that hyperfixation until the next otp with new content coming out soon (no offense Byler) came along

Just Can't Get Enough
Pairing: Steve x Fem!Reader
Prompt: imagine your otp slow dancing in their socks while the taller of the two hums a tune (terribly) for them to dance to and the shorter has their face pressed into the taller one's shoulder
A/N: I came across this prompt on Pinterest earlier and I just HAD to write an imagine for it! It might be a bit rough but I just thought it was sweet so I hope you like it.
Tumblr media
You struggled to stifle your laughter as Steve stood in front of you, "Just Can't Get Enough" by Depeche Mode playing quietly on the radio. He was trying to get you off the couch to dance with him but you weren't so easily swayed.
"Come on." He tried, holding a hand out to you. "Dance with me."
"Steve-"
"Please?"
"Fine." You huffed, giving in. "But I don't know how we can dance to this without looking like total assholes."
He gave you a proud smile as he opened his arms for you. "I'll show you. I'm a pro."
You both met in the middle of the room, and Steve secured his arms around your waist whilst you reached up to hold onto his shoulders. You felt ridiculous dancing in your living room like this, but seeing Steve's dopey smile made it worth it.
You carefully swayed around the room together whilst Steve attempted to hum along to the song. You laughed against his chest. "That's not even in tune."
"Oh, no. You see, you're just hearing it wrong. I actually sound great right now."
"Yeah, okay." You smiled as you fell back into silence, listening to him as he continued to hum the song against your hair.
You stayed like that until the song ended but even then, you never parted. You just sort of stood there, holding each other as the next song came on.
"This is nice." You mumbled against Steve's chest.
"Yeah." He said, resting his chin on the top of your head as he traced light circles on your back.
You wanted to stay in this moment forever, dancing with Steve in the middle of your living room whilst you both stood in your socks. It was perfect.

What if all the other Hermits were in Double Life?
Ever since Double Life started, whenever I watch one of the Hermits who isn't in it, I keep finding myself wondering what it would have been like if they had joined. And more specifically, who would they be soulbound to?
So, I decided to find out for myself! I'm going off the assumption that the selction of Soulmates was truly random and so I did what was basically the virtual version of pulling names out of a hat. I took the names of every Hermit who isn't in Double Life, and put then in a list on a random item picker website. I then had it pull one name at a time, and I deleted each name from the list as I went to avoid anyone being pulled twice. To keep things fair I only did the process once and didn't reroll at any point.
This list assumes that the current Soulbounds on Double Life would remain the same, so all the participating members of Double Life are not included here. Because the number of non-participating Hermits was an odd number, I included Skizzleman as well. If you would have rather seen LDShadowLady in this list you can just swap Skizz for her.
Without further ado, here's the list!
GeminiTay & Cubfan135
Docm77 & Xisumavoid
XBCrafted & Iskall85
FalseSymmetry & Stressmonster101
VintageBeef & WelsKnight
Keralis & Skizzleman
Tinfoilchef & JoeHills
MumboJumbo & Hypnotizd
iJevin & ZedaphPlays
I really love how this list came out. There's a great mixture of potential dynamics here, ranging from people who would immediately be power couples to people that would probably be disasters. And of course, plenty of chaos. Here's my thoughts on some of the pairs! I'm far from a HermitCraft historian, so I'm sorry if I don't know about any previous interactions Hermits have had and completely misread their dynamic. This is just more going off vibes anyway.
Gem & Cub
I don't know why, but my immediate gut reaction is that they would not get along. Gem would probably end up joining one of the other pairs instead, either Scott and Cleo for the gay and single alliance, or Stress and False for the girlboss energy. Cub would ally with Doc and Xisuma for ultimate destruction capabilities.
Doc & Xisuma
Power couple. Everyone will fear them, and rightfully so. Sure, Xisuma is a sweetheart and Doc isn't that bad (or so he says). But their skills and dedication combined together would be an absolutely deadly force. That is, until they inevitably mess up one of their own intricate traps and end up being one of the first duos eliminated.
XB & Iskall
These two would start off super excited to be Soulbound, and would work together great at first. But things would pretty quickly fall apart between them. They'd probably still work together for the sake of practicality, but they'd be snippy the whole time. I picture them pulling an Etho and Bdubs in Last Life by dividing their base directly down the middle. Iskall would try to buddy up with Stress, but she wouldn't be interested.
False & Stress
OTP. Absolute besties, would have total lesbian couple girlboss energy the entire time. Would also be complete gremlins and mess with everyone else constantly. This might end up painting a target on their back, but they also would be strong contenders to be the winning team.
Beef & Wels
Would have the most normal, drama free relationship of everyone. Not madly in love or hating each other, just two dudes being bros and chilling.
Keralis & Skizz
Constant comedy. Would regularly get into disagreements, but nothing that would ever drive a wedge between them because they'd end up just laughing it off. Would try to homewreck other teams.
TFC & JoeHills
They'd quickly come up with an arrangement where TFC would mine for resources, and Joe would find creative ways to sell them to people. They might end up becoming a target, especially once people start going red, because of their accumulated wealth. Joe may also end up being tricked by Scar into doing something that would cause his death.
Mumbo & Hypno
Would be excited to work together, but Grian would constantly be trying to win Mumbo over, and it would absolutely become a tension point between them because Mumbo would claim to be loyal to Hypno while also constantly running off to do things with Grian.
Jevin & Zedaph
These two would be the type of pair that despite their individual brilliance, would have -1 brain cells when working together. They'd have all the greatest "what could possibly go wrong?" schemes. Would either be the first team to lose or would somehow manage to win by sheer dumb luck.
This was a ton of fun to do, and I might do some variations, maybe doing some new rolls on the current Double Life cast, or using all the Hermits and the Double Life Cast together. Also I'm really sorry if someone else has done this already and I unintentionally stole the idea!

hi aj! i just came across all your meta and headcanons (which i love btw) and i'm sorry if you've been asked this before, but what's your favorite gsr episode? and what's your favorite sara episode? i'm just curious because you really get the characters very well so i wonder about your favorite scenes. love your fanfiction btw! keep writing ❤ and meta-ing! ❤
hi, anon!
thank you so much for your kind words! ❤ i'm so happy you like my stuff. i also very much appreciate the encouragement on the fic and meta!
to answer your question:
can i cheat a bit and give you two favorite gsr episodes?
my favorite-favorite gsr episode is 04x12 "butterflied" (which, coincidentally, first aired twenty years ago yesterday, on january 15th, 2004). it is, to my mind, the most technically perfect teleplay in all of csi.
one of the rare examples of an episode that places grissom and sara's relationship "front and center," it is nevertheless remarkably subtle, still operating mostly on a subtextual level. until grissom gives his monologue at the end, he actually speaks very little throughout, and yet his emotions couldn't be louder. likewise, though we get very few actual interactions between him and sara start to finish, they couldn't be more conscious of each other, orbiting around along concentric paths like two celestial objects trapped in the same gravity. grissom's haunted, heartsick looks alone are worth the price of admission, but of course the pièce de résistance is his monologue at the end—and then the gut-punch reveal to the audience that sara listened in on the whole thing. the episode really is peak angst done well and a watershed in terms of grissom and sara's relationship.
that said, "butterflied" is also not super cheerful or happy-shippy, so i will also offer up my favorite feel-good gsr episode, which is episode 02x16 "primum non nocere"—or as i like to call it "gsr: flirting on ice." truly, nothing beats the iconic "since i met you" scene, but there are also myriad other delightful little grissom and sara exchanges throughout, from them tag-teaming to give greg a rough time to them making eyes at each other while processing bedsheets. this episode is very much one of those "married before they were married" episodes, and it's one i tend to watch whenever i just want to enjoy my otp being stupidly in love with each other.
as for my favorite sara episode, i've gotta go with episode 08x01 "dead doll." sara's escape from natalie davis's deathtrap showcases everything i love about that girl, including her gutsiness, rawness, intelligence, resilience, vulnerability, stubbornness, and irrepressible survival instinct. i'm especially fond of the scene just before sara finally passes out at the side of the highway, where she's walking through the desert, doing simple math problems to keep herself conscious. forget "damsel in distress;" sara saves herself, and jorja fox delivers a masterclass performance in the process.
thanks for the question! please feel welcome to send another any time.

Hawwu could i request “9.Have I told you I love you today?” and 8.Imagine your OTP staying up until 3am playing video games together with Druig
A/N - HAWWU! Oh fun, this one will be nice and cute for you, dear friend! I hope you like it, and thanks for requesting!
High Score
Summary - You just moved into your apartment with your boyfriend Druig, and what's the first thing you do? Play your favorite video game of course!
Tumblr media
Warnings - Just some tooth rotting fluff :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Alright, I'm gonna get you the next round!"
"You said that the last two times, babe,"
"But this time I mean it!"
You cracked your knuckles and leaned back against the wall, shifting on the mattress you were on as Druig was hitting the play button one more time for a new round on the video game console. As soon as it was time to play agains each other, you both were tapping away on the buttons and grinning like idiots. It was the almost chaotic really, since the only pieces of furniture that was in your living room was your mattress, the tv set, your Nintendo Switch console with the two controls, one very tiny loveseat and your record player.
It was beyond bare, but it was yours. Officially.
You and Druig moved in together after dating for 10 months, finding this apartment tucked away near the park and close to both of your jobs, so it was such a steal when you saw it advertised in the newspaper. You both were fresh into your Senior Year of college, having enough money to scrape together for the deposit and the first three months of rent, but both of your jobs were going to help out in your savings in the end.
You worked at the local newspaper, getting decent paychecks with your fluff pieces and articles on the college. Druig was over at the Philosophy Department as an Administrative Assistant, landing that job from having one of the Deans as a teacher one semesters. And when it came to the apartment, your mutual friend Kingo knew the Agent that was advertising the place, getting your guys an interview and even an leaser offer with a very slight discount.
In the end, you both moved in the very few pieces of furniture you had together, leaving the weekend for you two to snag a couch Ajak was going to give you and a dresser from Sersi and Ikaris. The rest was going to come from the Goodwill. You both were bone tired that night when you went shopping for food that will last a week, yet you both were giddy in excitement and wonder to what the future will hold.
Druig held you in his arms after the groceries was tucked away and the pizza was sitting on the floor, drinking in the bare white walls that were ready to be filled with pictures and art pieces. Even though you were beyond tired and could pass out on your mattress that was tucked in the corner of the small bedroom, you held onto Druig and felt him sneak in a few kisses along your hairline.
"Have I told you I love you today?" Druig asked you in a murmured, you grinning against his chest as you squeezed him a bit tighter. The mixture of sweat and his cologne was filling your nose and making you almost in a hypotonic daze.
"No, but I know you do," You reminded him, feeling him then lift your chin with his finger to lock eyes with you. You grinned widely at him, seeing him search your eyes as you both were still in a embrace. Finally, he leaned in to barely touch your lips with his, having you loose your breath.
"I love you," He breathed, pressing your lips together a few times.
With three bags of groceries in your trunk and a large cheese pizza in Druig's lap, you both sped home and took out the Nintendo Switch to play.
But that was at 8:00, and now it was nearly 3:00 am.
"Oh come on!" Druig huffed as you giggled, seeing your character winning another round. You just nudged Druig by the shoulder as he glared at the screen and rubbed his eyes, "You keep using that move!"
"What? It's not illegal, is it?" You challenged him as Druig rolled his eyes.
"How is it that you're so good at that?" Druig asked you with a tilt of his head. You just shrugged, then looking at your phone that was on your lap and your grimaced.
"Shit, it's 3 in the morning!" You gasped, Druig blinked a few times and looking at his watch.
"Oh it is, would ya look at that," Druig hummed in agreement. You looked around at your new bedroom, seeing how empty it seemed to be with your suitcase propped up against the wall where the dresser will be, and even picture a bookshelf or two there with Druig's desk he'll need.
It was sinking in, and you took a long breath.
There was no doubt you wanted to live with Druig since you both were serious and deeply in love. The rest of your friends and even your family knew it was going to be great you two being together, but with all the planning and prepping for this moment, it till felt....surreal. Now that reality was setting in, you had the rest of you're future right in front of you. Sure it was scary, but there was also excitement with it too.
"Hey, you good?" Druig asked as he kissed your clothed shoulder. Maybe he saw you were lost in your thoughts, but you seemed solid and grounded when you locked eyes with him. Druig wanted this as much as you wanted it, already exited to move in right away when you said yes. He made sure everything was in place when it came to signing the lease and getting the right pieces of furniture, the last thing he wanted for you was to be stressed. Druig claimed that since this was his idea and he asked you to move in with him, he would do most of planning and labor. With barely a spat with Kingo in the pricing and with the his boss in getting time off to move, Druig did amazing.
He was more than amazing, at least to you.
"I'm beyond good, honey," You replied, Druig grinning, "I think we're gonna do great with this whole, 'living together' thing,"
"Me too, sweetheart," Druig agreed, "And I think we should go to bed....after one more round,"
Within an instant, the tiredness was long gone as you both grabbed your controllers again.
"You're on!" You replied in glee. The sounds of your laughter bouncing off your new bedroom walls was heard as you were playing another round together in the early hours of the morning.
And on the anniversary of your moving in together, you would play your video together on your bedroom floor.
The End.

A Dottolone/Panttore guide!
It came to my attention that many people are confused about this ship, which is...understandable! considering that we basically don’t know anything about these two, neither do we have material that show us real interaction between them yet. So where did the ship came from? Why do people ship this? I know it may look like it came from nowhere, but I do believe that no, the shippers aren’t just shipping because they’re both hot and appeared for 5 seconds side by side. I never saw anyone talking about it, so I’ll be this one person blabing about one of my genshin otps.
With this explanation, I’ll talk about many factors that revolve around the ship, and along with that, talk about the characters as well! Some of the things that we know until now. I hope that this will be useful and interesting to read!
Some triggers will be adressed here, they include mentions of: infant torture; unhealthy/abusive relationships; human experimentation; power imbalance.
So let’s start with the Commedia Dell’arte,
That must be the first thing that people consider when they think about the ship. For those who don’t know: Il Dottore and Pantalone are very close in the original Commedia. They are the two old men, and both are rich and despicable in their own ways. Their friendship is...peculiar. It is somewhat like them being the only ones that can stand one another.
Yes, this is a detail that contributes to the ship in Genshin. But a weak one, I believe. You see, this companionship in the original Commedia is not necessary when we can say that Pantalone and Il Dottore already share some kind of bond aside from being two Harbingers.
They are probably two leaders of the Haeresys Arena, considering that they are both Harbingers and it would only make sense if they are responsible for it. After all: who else would?
What is the Haeresys?
Now for those who didn’t read the manga, Haeresys is an underground Fatui arena where children are put to fight against unknown monsters. Too little was said about it for we to know what it is or it’s purpose. What we do know, is that Dottore is directly tied to it, and most certainly uses the arena for some kind of his experimentation on humans.
But as little as our information is, there is one detail worthy of mention:
Tumblr media
Now, as questionable as Krupp’s confession is, it’s still something that rings a bell, no? So not only we know that children fight monsters in this secret Fatui arena, but now we also know that rich people apparently watch it, as a sick and sadistic game. Since it’s a ‘’game’’ for rich people, money must be involved. And if money is involved...
Now, why is Pantalone wearing a ring of the Heresy symbol?
Tumblr media
It’s all there. The cross, the circle and, if you look closely, you can see little details on the sides of the ring that could be the wings. It may not be identical, but it’s very hard to ignore how it looks like that. Dottore seems to wear the same symbol on his clothes, though we can’t see it clearly. It’s hard to tell if there’s a cross, but the circle is there, and some kind of wings...even if it isn’t, there is a lot of feathers, bird and wing motif on his general style.
Tumblr media
The connection that both seem to have with Haeresys makes it difficult to define from which of the two does this Harbinger symbol truly belong. We are yet to know.
With that said, you may keep in mind that the majority of the Dottore and Pantalone fans...well, the majority of the Harbingers’s fans as a whole obviously will like them not only because they are hot, but because we like villains.
Thus, Dottore/Pantalone obviously isn’t a ship that will have a place among people who want to see a romantic and completely healthy relationship. At the very best, people will see them as partners in crime, which is the case here, because we are pretty much seeing that Dottore tortures children, and Pantalone very likely does human trafficking.
Putting it all aside, we enter now the next aspect of what makes people ship them.
Chemistry - What do they represent?
So, fine, they are “Business Associates”, what else is there that is so appealing in seeing them together?
To that, I must say: Heresy itself.
We don’t know much about them, but we know the core of their mentality because we have the descriptions on the Pale Flame set. Both Dottore and Pantalone are the only ones until now (that aren't from Khaenri'ah) that showed clear disdain regarding the gods.
Tumblr media
Pantalone seems to be a very interesting character if we hold to that description. He doesn’t just don’t care about the gods; he hates them. And all the while he hates them, he wants to go against their power directly because of a personal, greedy need to prove himself worthy. Until now, he may have the most intense description of ambition, because it’s deeply emotional. Childe even commented in one of his lines about Pantalone’s ‘’Raw ambition” and how he is full of big ideas for the future.
One last thing that captivated my attention about Pantalone’s artifact is the name, and the description of it. His artifact is a clock. It’s name is Moment of Cessation.
“ A pocket watch with a cover that cannot be opened. Yet it ticks and tocks away, following the inexorable flow of time.“
Is he counting? Is he waiting to make the clock stop? After all, time is money.
Pantalone represents rebelion against the divine. And more than that; what he is planning to do may be considered heresy, for all Mora in Teyvat is made by an Archon in the end.
What about the Doctor?
Tumblr media
Dottore, too, was an outcast.
He, too, seeks something against the gods. He toys with life, he seeks improvement, evolution, power.
His ambition is to prove that a god is not all that impressive. He believes that humanity can become better, and that he can make that happen. The way his main aim includes proving that he can step on the same level or even above the divine is very similar to how Pantalone seeks revenge through gaining the power(money) he judged that the gods didn’t need.
Both are ambitious, passionate even about their goals. And surely, now you too can’t deny that the idea of seeing both together, discussing their views and possibily agreeing on many aspects is interesting, right?
Their dynamic - the ranks and hierarchy(Common headcanons):
As we know, their ranks have a huge gap. While Dottore is second to none but Pierro in the Harbingers, Pantalone is merely the Ninth. This creates a lot of possibilities and tendencies that tend to be seen here and there on the ship tag.
While Pantalone may not stand a chance against Dottore, he may have some tricks on his sleeve. Dottore needs money, and Pantalone is the provider in that matter for all the Harbingers. Regarding this, Dottore can do nothing instead of cooperating if Pantalone threats to cut his funding for a rational reason, thus making their power imbalance waver between them.
Considering how probably some in the Dottore’s fandom likes his steampunk mad scientist vibe, it seems appealing to many people to imagine them as those kinds of couples that absolutely would destroy a nation bringing a capitalistic dystopia with machines and many control measures.
Some like to explore how Pantalone might see Dottore as his best investiment, as it’s not hard to imagine Dottore laying countless lucrative inventions at his feet every now and then.
Some like to explore how Dottore would torment Pantalone for more and more money non-stop.
Etc, etc...
All that I said can be summed up as: they are a really interesting pairing. It’s not just a random ship. Give it a chance if you like a dark couple!~

maybe we make this our happily ever after
When @yearoftheotpevent gives you the perfect inspiration for your OTP with a single prompt. TTwTT
Fic: "maybe we make this our happily ever after" [FFN] [AO3]
Pairings/Characters: Nick Torres/Ellie Bishop
Rating: T
Words: ~2,310
Additional info: romance, angst, 3rd person POV
Summary: Nick's long wondered—and has always wanted to ask Ellie—if they're the kind of people who deserve a happy ending.
Nick wakes up well ahead of his alarm and drags a hand across his face, ending in pinching the remaining bits of sleep dust from his eyes. He's not jet-lagged in the least—Miami and D.C. are in the same time zone, thankfully—but he's still utterly exhausted, and waking from the semblance of a nightmare the same morning he's due back at headquarters to present his report in person on shuttering that arms ring…well, Nick surely wishes he could turn his alarm off and sleep for another five hours, at least.
Instead, he lies awake and stares at the ceiling of his current dwelling.
It's…all right, he surmises of what he can squint in the early morning darkness. At least the place is clean and not in disrepair, like some of the places he's slept on certain assignments these last few years. Still—
It's not home. It's not the previous apartment he had, where he last risked setting roots, back when he'd been part of a team, part of something more.
…and, frowning at that thought, Nick huffs and sits up. He gropes for his phone on the nightstand to his right and turns off the alarm with a yawn. Director Vance isn't expecting him until later this morning, so Nick can waste a few hours as he pleases.
He pulls a few ingredients from the small fridge and quickly showers before whipping up an egg-heavy but filling breakfast. It's not Lucia's cooking, but it's safer for his big sister if she doesn't know about all these different Airbnbs with him back at it, even though Nick misses her dropping by to fill his fridge when he's not home.
This particular rental has a medium-sized, flat screen TV, so Nick turns on the news at a low volume after he finishes cleaning up in the kitchen. He stretches slowly, legs and arms, and pays half attention to the local and national headlines scrolling along. The news items never catch his interest, though, not when he knows they'll never contain information on one specific person.
Nick grimaces, thinking over how short the Miami op had been. That hadn't been fruitful—just a run-of-the-mill undercover assignment. And some jobs (most jobs) are like that, and he returned to undercover work expecting as much. But sometimes…sometimes, a case takes him places and he heard things. Be it this coast or the west, south of the border and accidentally crossing paths with his father, north of the border and on his own, back at the Pearl Harbor office to assist Tennant's team with a particular sloppy mission, or even in the northwest and close enough to meet a familiar pair of blue eyes from afar and exchange a reassuring nod before Nick brought in a fugitive from Alaska…he always heard things.
      Snippets of a golden ghost.
      Mumblings of a blond assassin.
      Occasionally, a "fair-haired fixer."
They're vague rumors, and Nick never came close to discerning the credibility of the rumors at the time…but he knows he's got time on his side. After all, returning to undercover work is only partly because it's his area of expertise. The other half is because he's long desired the freedom to chase down leads on her.
He's daydreamed a million times over what he'd say, should they ever meet again—but he knows he at least wants to redo that parting, someway, somehow. And if seeing her again isn't in her handler's plans…
Nick shudders. It must've been a nightmare of earning Odette's ire, since he's got the two of them on his brain.
He dresses and goes for a light jog, familiarizing himself with the neighborhood and shaking off the eerie vibes Ziva's old compatriot gives him at the same time. It helps him kill time, too, and Nick takes a second brief shower before dressing for the day and leaving for NCIS.
The drive to the Navy Yard is average for this time of morning, right before the morning rush starts to spill into the streets. When Nick does arrive, he parks near the entrance of the lot. He needs the long walk to wake him up the rest of the way, and he needs the time to bury his personal stakes under other things so Vance and the others, if they're in, don't pry.
…it's funny, though. Nick returns time and again to headquarters, sometimes after a few weeks, sometimes after months and months on end, and he finds the red brick building an odd mix of home and alien to him. The sensation reminds him of even longer ago, back when he first took a desk job and put undercover work on pause while he adjusted to his new circumstances.
He scratches the back of his head, suddenly unsure about arriving so early. McGee's got kids to delay him and Knight's chronically late these days, but Vance and Parker—they turn up when you least expect them, and he's not sure he's ready for the kind of small talk they might prompt, so Nick veers off his direct path up the lot and heads for the footpath to the right, across the green. He internally heaves a sigh of relief, having bought himself another minute or two, and he stuffs his hands in his jeans' pockets—
—but then he spies a familiar form on the bench ten yards ahead, just ahead of the coffee cart, and he slows his pace to course-correct, all but forgetting his appointment later this morning.
When he's close enough, Nick carefully lowers himself on the opposite end from her. But, the whole time, his lips are parted and his brow is pinched, and he can't pull his eyes away from her.
      From Ellie.
The bench isn't very big (there's space barely enough for a third person between them), but she leans back comfortably on his right side, and…she looks good, all things considered. She's dressed casual, like him, in jeans and her tan leather jacket, and she's got a takeout coffee in her hands and a bag of those shrimp chips Reeves used to buy her half-eaten beside her.
…but she's a little worn, too, Nick realizes. There are a few new lines around her eyes, and her hair—ah, she's sporting bangs again—is lighter in places. Though her left eye…something's off with her left eye, and Nick does his best to stop staring when he understands why: Her left eye is completely cloudy.
      "Hey, Nick," Ellie says.
He responds half a beat late, because—given her eye and the way she faces forward—he wasn't sure she actually realized he'd sat down. "H-Hey."
Ellie smiles against the lid of her coffee as she takes a sip. "Something wrong?"
"I—" Nick lips his lips. "I didn't get enough sleep last night. But now I think I'm not even awake yet, because, if you're here…I have to be dreaming still."
She lowers her drink and grins, a familiar, toothy sight he hasn't seen in nearly ten long years. Ellie shakes her head and brushes a lock of hair behind her ear. "Nope, I'm here. Real and in the flesh." She takes one more sip before twisting around on the bench and tucking her left leg under her right, to face Nick.
This time, face to face, it's more apparent. Ellie's got one opal iris and one deep brown iris, one pupil gone and one visible, and he worries about the story behind this change.
Ellie leans against the back of the bench on her left arm. "By the way, I thought you'd like to know: I'm officially retired."
Nick blinks, his train of thought derailed. "Wait. What?"
"I'm coming in from the cold, Nick. I'm not Ellie Bishop, NCIS Special Agent. And I'm not Eleanor Bishop, disgraced federal agent. I'm just…Ellie." She exhales, slowly, almost a sigh. She's quiet for a moment as she reaches for his nearer arm with her free hand and pushes up the cuff of his thin jacket, tracing over a newer scar that peeks out over his wrist. "I see the same goes for you," she mumbles.
He frowns. He's still a mix of shock and amazement and concern—but Ellie's assessment is at least one thing he knows a thing or two about. "I'm back to doing what I know best," Nick admits with a glance at this scar. He huffs. "Although, is it just me, or are the bad guys stronger and faster these days?" Nick thinks aloud.
"Well, you've been doing this for more than twenty years, Nick. And you took a small hiatus."
He pouts but covers her hand with his, hiding that scar on his arm. "Maybe. Or maybe they just hit harder."
Ellie purses her lips. She sits up a little and leans forward, reaching up to trace the old scar from childhood in his right eyebrow. Then Ellie moves her thumb to just below his eye, along his cheekbone, tracing this mirrored scar from twenty months ago. "Do they?"
Nick tries to muster his cocksure grin for her. "Ah, that? Don't worry about that. I'm still pretty sure that was friendly fire from…ah, well, he'd never admit it, but Sam."
"Hanna? As in, the L.A. office?"
"Yeah. Let's just say he and Callen ended up needing backup with Morocco, part two."
Her brow furrows as she gives him a curious little smile, but Ellie chuckles.
      "What?"
"Ohh, just. That would explain how I lost track of you for a time."
He gapes at her. For all he chased down leads on her—! "You kept tabs on me?"
"Don't look so surprised, Nick. But yeah, Hetty's office… I only got to work with Pride's team a few times, but everything I've ever heard about Hetty—she and Odette are two peas in a pod." She punctuates this with a sage nod of her head.
But the mention of the woman who upended their lives brings to mind his nightmare from this morning, and it also brings Nick's attention back to Ellie's face, to her eye and why she's really back. He turns to face her, too, and brushes her hair back from her face, finding himself frowning once more. "Ellie…you said you're back, for good. But what happened?"
A full minute of silence sits between them. Eventually, Ellie rests against his hand and gives him a fleeting, tight, tired smile. "…work hazard," she mumbles. She clears her throat and speaks more audibly, "Things didn't go right on what became my last mission, so…Odette said I'm out of the game."
Nick furrows his brow while his heart sinks for her, knowing how badly she'd wanted that opportunity from the start. "Really? Just like that?"
"Well, no. Surgery might still help, but a lot of time has passed. The more time that passes, the less successful it'll be."
      "So—"
Ellie shakes her head. "I've adapted pretty well to my new blind spot, Nick. Funny thing is, all I could think was how relieved I was, finally coming home." Then she takes his hand from her face and holds it. She scoots closer and they sit together, quiet, letting the weight of her new reality sink in.
A small part of him still worries that this is just his imagination at its best, that he'll wake up and it'll be a dream for sure. So he tucks Ellie into his side and presses a kiss to her crown…and, for good measure, he tilts her chin up, kissing her lips, too.
(For two heartbeats, he flashes back unhappily to their parting, to their goodbye kiss at Odette's previous home.
But then Nick summons to mind countless nights spent at Ellie's old apartment, of legs tangled with sheets and her pressed against him, of what came after, all his chances to wake her up with a good-morning kiss and getting to look into those big brown eyes of hers, fixed just on him…her world, him, his world, her.)
They pull away, just enough to catch their breaths, and this time the silence doesn't feel so unbearable.
But Nick breaks the silence anyway: "Marry me, Ellie."
He thumbs her chin while she blinks and stares up at him in wide-eyed amazement. "…I thought, at best, we'd start over when I came back, if you wanted to," she replies.
Nick shakes his head. "We went through hell already. We've had our good and our bad and, yeah, there'll be more to learn along the way. But I don't need more time to figure out that I want to be with you for the rest of my life. I've…I've know that for years, Ellie."
She eases into a soft smile. "What about you getting back into undercover work?"
That gives him pause, but he's surprisingly thinking on his feet today. "You said it yourself: I've done it for more than twenty years. I have a nice pension coming my way… Maybe it's time I stop being Nick Torres, NCIS Special Agent. Maybe I get to be just…Nick."
Ellie hums under her breath, but the glint in her brown eye says she likes how he's using her argument.
So he raises his eyebrows at her, as if saying, Do I need to ask again?
But she cups his cheek and traces his newer scar once more with the pad of her thumb. "Marry me, Nick," she says, and she laughs when it takes him a second to piece together that her answer is a proposal, as well—how Ellie Bishop of her.
(But, he thinks when he kisses her anew, to seal the deal—to seal this promise—it's very them, and if this is simply how their fairy tale goes, then he's all right with that, because it's finally real, and they're done letting others stand in their way.)
Done for the If You Dare Challenge (for prompt #39: ten yards) in the HPFC forum on FFN as well as the Year of the OTP (June prompt: proposal) on tumblr. I…do have other Ellick ideas, but this one cropped up recently, mainly bc of that June prompt, so I just dashed off to write this. XD As for what would make Odette give up an asset like Bishop…well, I do wonder if Odette would let her go simply if Bishop said she wanted out, but an injury that could jeopardize their work strikes me as smthg Odette considers retirement-worthy (altho note that corneal blindness is deffo treatable with grafts/transplants…but it's still a difficult surgery and resources are limited even developed nations, so Bishop isn't far off in her remarks). Idk if I want to write the op where Bishop got injured, since this was mainly just part of an Ellick plotbunny, tho. Ahhh, and assorted name drops… -w- Random, but it gives me the warm&fuzzies to think we have very our own multiverse here: Regardless of which you've watched, this is your reminder that all four (soon to be five) NCISes, JAG, the Hawaii 5-0 reboot, and Scorpion are in the same universe, thx to backdoor pilots and xovers. (Also feel free to scream with me if you still love and miss Scorpion and think it deserved better. ;w;) ANYWHO! On to my next NCIS fic~ AH, and final, final note: Bc I couldn't find the best places to squeeze this info into the fic naturally/without disrupting the rhythm, I thought I'd elaborate on the timeline here. This fic presumes Nick being with the Parker-led team for five years, and he's been back in UC work for three after that, so he rly hasn't seen his Ellie for nearly ten. ;w; (He would absolutely be pension-eligible since, when he joined Team Gibbs in s14, Quinn remarked she'd trained him "8yrs ago" at FLETC when he began his NCIS career…so if s14 is his ninth year, then this would be his 21st. :'3)
Thanks for reading, and feel free to leave an anon/unsigned review via the FFN link or comment via the AO3 link at the top of the post, especially if you enjoyed this!

I found an old fic I did a while on my diary app, I'm posting it here 😌 enjoy. (yes it's a self insert fic idc).
Yes it's based on a random prompt I found on an OTP generator.
Tumblr media
It was a quiet day, Zoryana was cutting up vegetables and other goods for the stew they were making for dinner tonight. They hummed along to a random song playing on their phone on the other side of the room.
They cut up the vegetables in peace, until the tears began.
"Damn onions," Zoryana mumbled, feeling tears flow down their face. Their cheeks burned in embarrassment as well. They continued to chop. Their sniffles filled the air.
Ivan came into the room quietly as he always did, knowing Zoryana might need something from a high cabinet shelf sometime soon. He came in, overhearing the music, wanting to know what song it was. But he stopped. He looked over, tears were streaming down his beloved Zoryana's face.
"Zorya!" he gasped, rushing over to them, he took the knife out of their hand.
"Hey what are you doing!?" Zoryana exclaimed, "Do you mind?"
Ivan shook his head, and set the knife on the counter. He crouched down and took the handkerchief Zorya's friend made him a while ago. Gently he removed their glasses and dabbed the tears away.
"What happened? Did the knife hurt you?" Ivan asked, looking at Zoryana with the biggest look of worry. Zorya shook their head.
"Did I do something?" Ivan asked. Nope.
After a series of questions Ivan started to give up.
"What happened?" Ivan asked.
"The onions." Zoryana replied, holding back some laughter.
"The what?" Ivan asked.
"The onions."
Ivan glanced at the counter, and there they were, the onions.
End.

Hi! How about A9, B9 and C6? Oh, and D10!
Hiiii hon! Alright lets see...
A9. Who was your first ship?
The earliest ship I remember that I got actually invested in is Reaper76 from Overwatch. I mean, traumatized old gay men who like to shoot at each other and have a HistoryTM? It covers all the basics for me. Also this ship is what made me find AO3, so it kinda introduced me to fandom as a whole and is therefore technically responsible for all the madness that came after it.
B9. Who is your OTP?
You know, I was going to say this is a hard question because I have so many pairings I like in several fandoms and I dont really pick favorites because I like different aspects about them and also Im indecisive. And then I remembered Symbrock. And nothing really comes near the level of absolutely messy devotion of (comics!)Symbrock. So yeah.
C6. Is there anything in canon that made you want to quit the show? What was it? Why do you hate it?
Oh boy, here we go... So not a show, but allllll the shit Cates did with absolute garbage & co and what came after essentially made me quit venom comics and comics in general. Do I even need to explain myself? Like I was keeping up with Venom and also Spider-man and some others because it was fun and enjoyable. And then came the egregious retconning, inconsistencies, character butchering (both how they were written but also literally), characters dying and coming back and dying again and coming back again and fucking gods apparently and how every single issue was The Most Shocking And Dramatic Things The Characters Have Ever Been Through and everything is just edgy and grimdark and angsty and so fucking STUPID and it was just. It wasnt fun or enjoyable anymore, only exhausting and frustrating and sad. And not sad like a sad story makes you feel, but sad like watching something you care about irreparably crash and burn in real time without being able to do anything about it and knowing you can never have it back the way it was (which there is enough of IRL). So I powered through until king in black where I just said "reading this bullshit is draining and depressing and doesnt bring me anything, its not worth it anymore so fuck it" and just stopped. And with my main reason for reading comics gone I ditched marvel comics altogether because lets be honest keeping up with all the different stories and timelines and crossovers and whatnot is exhausting cuz theres just so damn much going on all the time. And why torment yourself with shitty canon when you can have wonderful fanfics tailored to your specific tastes all for free? So I quit comics, read fics instead, got into some new fandoms, indulged my hc and have ever since been living blissfully unaware of the burning dumpster fire (derogatory) that is canon. I only see glimpses of it when it crosses my dash, which I use for cherrypicking for my hc and aggressively ignore the rest.
D10. What is one story idea you really want to read but no one has written yet?
I have a whole lot of story ideas I really want to read (my hcs) that no one has written yet (that would be cuz of me not writing them). But for real, I would love more stories with symbiote & spider-people shenanigans. Like there was this one comic of Peter, Miles and Gwen meeting Venom and fighting Doc Ock toghether and they were kinda buddies? More stuff like that, that has spider/symbiote interaction besides them just trying to kill each other. Maybe it exists and I just havent found it. But like, Venom in spiderverse, they have to team up with the spider gang and they kinda get along because he doesnt have any personal beef with them. He will absolutely recite and discuss Shakespear with that medieval spiderman, be enamored with little Mayday, and be nothing but gentlemanly toward spider ma'am. The other spiders find that "yeah he is freaky and has some dubious morals but isnt actually just an evil monster, he just doesnt like you Peter". The Peter in question does not like it one bit. Him and Venom (barely) tolerate each other, as they always do when they team up, but are constantly petty and passive aggressive towards each other in a funny way, bickering like an old married couple. Because of the nature of their history they also know stuff about each other and will casually drop highly personal details about the other that makes the other spiders go "👀 you sure he's your enemy and not just your ex?". Which Peter likes even less. Other story ideas i desperately need is ANYTHING WITH ANTI-VENOM HOLY SHIT WHERE IS MY BABY!?!?!?! I need stories that let him be a silly dumbass and a pathetic wet beast and occasionally getting railed that dont just exist in my head. But the amount of content on him is just dismal. I often feel like the sole inhabitant of the ghost town that is the Anti-Venom fandom. I've come across one (1) quality fic that portrays him properly (thank you @kitausuret for your invaluable service) and good art is hard to come by compared to other characters. And I realize that if I want more art of him and an Anti-Venom x Agent Venom arch-enemies-to-reluctant-allies-to-even-more-reluctant-friends-to-how-the-hell-did-this-happen excruciating slow burn, I will probably have to do it myself, which hghgnghgnhhh will take forever, but oh well.
Well, this sorta turned into an essay that turned into an impromptu vent post. Hope thats okay and you got your answers!

Jack/vlad otp ask
39. Do they get along with the other's family? If not, how do they deal with the other's family?
I am so curious how you see the family situation shaking out
Ohhhhhh, this is the one I have bean dreading the most, because I really worry about sharing my thoughts on their families, since it can get pretty dark :,)
Content Warning for: child abuse, parental death
I headcanon that Jack and Vlad have met when they were around 11-12 years old, they're childhood friends who did everything together up until college. The whole "First friend, First love, First kiss" deal, y'know? Jack never met Vlad's mother, she died before Jack and Vlad got to know each other. Vlad's father was indifferent to Jack from the start, only bordering on mild annoyance. Jack and Vlad's dad barely interacted when Jack went over to visit. Vlad's father died while Vlad was hospitalized, he never learned Jack was the cause of the accident. Jack remembers Vlad's dad fondly, considers him to be one of the very few adults who were kind to him growing up. But looking back, it seems the man never cared for Jack's well-being, considering how he never offered Jack any help, despite how evidently he's been neglected as a kid.
Vlad despises Jack's entire family, and Jack's family hates him right back. Jack's parents, especially his father, were convinced the soviets are going to bomb America any tuesday now, and considering that Vlad's late mother had fled from a soviet-aligned country, they saw Vlad's entire existence as a sign of the coming fall of the USA.... Needless to say, Vlad was never welcome at their home. Not that Vlad ever wanted to visit, he's heard enough horror stories from Jack. The house was filthy, Jack offhandedly mentioned he never took of his gloves or boots at home, even while sleeping. Jack would often talk about the horrible mistreatment he's suffered at the hands of his siblings, of whom there is too many to count, his tone light and humorous while he spoke. Jack was the punching bag of the family, even in a household full of barely socialized, neglected and abused children, he was the odd one out, but he genuinely believed it was just siblings messing around in good fun. Jack would even argue with Vlad, how he doesn't get it because he's an only child, and he has no right to insult his family like that. Vlad only met one of Jack's siblings in the time he knew him, his eldest brother, he came out of it with a dislocated shoulder and a missing tooth. When they found out about Jack's romantic involvement with Vlad, his parents kicked him out, thankfully it was shortly before him and Vlad went off to college, so Jack wasn't without a place to stay for too long. Jack was formally accepted back into the family after he proposed to Maddie.
I have a lot of headcanons as to how Jack and Vlad grew up, and I don't think I will ever fully share them here, because I'm uncomfortable about going into detail. This is just very bare bones tidbits. They both struggled :,D to say the least

Unmasked Trust. otp: cipher nine (f!oc) x Darth Marr. A/N: hearing impaired cipher nine protag, wlw pairing, transfem Marr, canon divergence.
(was posted on sideblog but this was being edited with recent characters updates.)
Tumblr media
“Do you trust me, Ania?”
Ania was taken aback by the unusual question out of the blue, eying the masked warlord sat on the opposite side from her and set down a cup of decaf aside.
“Of course, I trust you.” Ania told the warlord with a baffled reaction. She tilted her head curiously, wondering what prompted this, “What brought this on?”
The Sith caught her off guard over the topic of trust. They had been married for a couple of months, sharing the same bed for a better night’s sleep and taking turns caring for Naomi. Recently Ania had taken notice of Marr growing restless since the previous night before. Could it have been due to sleeping within their armour made them feel this way out of discomfort.
“I have…reasons,” the warlord spoke with a raspy tone, their visor fixated onto the cipher agent attentively, making sure to sign for her, “I thought it would be the right time for you to learn the person behind this mask.”
Ania doesn’t understand this, albeit worried if she had done something wrong, “But why? Didn’t I not gave you my trust and consent in our marriage?”
Maybe she wished she had opted to sleep on the couch or renovated one of the spare rooms into a personal bedroom when they moved in together.
“Yes, you did. But that was not the reason,” Marr reassured, clearing their throat, “Unveiling myself to you without your trust was the last thing I wanted to provoke you into reliving your traumatic past.”
Provoke my trauma, she wondered puzzledly to herself, until the realisation hit her now she acknowledged that Marr was referring to the first time she saw Jadus' unmasked face, which had completely startled her with their appearance. Afterall, Marr wanted to proceed with caution, and Ania greatly appreciated them for it–it is the littlest thing she liked how Marr looked out for her when they didn’t have to.
Then again, she recalled Marr’s vow to her on their wedding day.
“I understand your reason, but you didn’t need to–"
“I know Ania,” Marr cuts her off, “This is as important to me because you mattered more to me than you think. This is my choice.”
Marr knew it was the right time to unveil themselves. They don’t want to be Darth Marr all the time, especially in the comfort of their home away from the Empire’s duty–they want Ania to see the other side of their persona. Ania, on the other hand, felt her breath hitched upon the way Marr mentioned that she means more to them. Was it because of that moment the two shared when she left Jadus' office at the Sith HQ?
“I respect your decision.” Ania affirmed with a nod initiating that she was ready.
That was all Marr needed to hear. Fingers gripped onto the hood for a moment before letting it slide off from their head, then Marr paused with hesitation questioning whether this was really worth it or not. They wondered if they’re doing it too soon, or unsure how Ania would react towards their identity–that they’re not met with the expectations of the so-called rumour talks?
“Are you ok?” Ania checked on them out of concern.
“It’s…” Marr heaved a sigh, “It’s been a long time since I took my mask off in front of the other,” they explained their hesitation, “I was around your age when I became Darth Marr and never looked back. The last person who saw my face was The Emperor himself.”
Marr subconsciously blocked the memory of the time at the Emperor’s Fortress from their head, but they never forget the moment when one of the Servants placed the mask onto their face, and Tenebrae was watching on with a smile ominously. Being Darth Marr was all they wanted to be–mysterious without the past hanging by a thread.
Until Ania came along in their life. It had brought a vulnerable side to them, but Marr had already made their choice to unmask and gained their spouse’s trust.
“How long has it been?” Ania asked curiously.
“About twenty years.” Marr answered.
Ania understood their hesitation with an acknowledged nod, her father wore a mask specifically for his dyspnea condition, “Take your time.”
“Are you sure?” Marr warned, double checking for signs of uneasiness, “There’s no going back after this…”
“I would not have agreed to this if I wasn’t ready.” Ania reassured with a smile.
There’s something about her smile that made Marr feel their knees go weak from the sight alone. Well, here goes nothing.
Marr lifted their hands up to their head steadying their posture as fingers grasped onto the side of their mask, waiting idly for a brief second to study their spouse’s body language, but Ania was waiting in anticipation and sensed the thrill of excitement from her moods.
Marr breathed a sharp inhale, slowly removing the mask from their face and held it within their hands, gazing their scarlet eyes onto the agent awaiting for her reaction. Ania was stunned to say the least, taken aback and unprepared for the shock reveal.
“You’re…” Ania was speechless. “A zabrak.” Marr said, tossing the mask aside onto the coffee table, "I'm not exactly what everybody making it out to believe I'm human." “Not to mention you’re a woman, aswell.” Ania added.
There was something about their deep, raspy voice that was soothing to her. Marr curled their lips into a smirk, setting the cipher agent off into a flustered state, “Surprised? I don’t blame you. I’m told that you… appreciate the company of other women--specially older ones.”
“I am, actually.” Ania slammered, trying not to get distracted by Marr’s face and covering up her flushed cheeks, she cleared her throat to continue, “You’re not what I expected from the rumours being said about you.”
“What rumours?” Marr indulged with an amused tone, “Listening to rumours when you shouldn’t?”
“So, are you implying the rumours about a Grand Moff who saw your distinguished face, disappeared and committed suicide was a lie?” Ania questioned.
Marr snorted by this.
“Admittedly, that rumour was a cover up story to throw anyone off their guard.” Marr explained while they leaned back into the chair with one leg up over the knee, ruffling their dishevelled hair, “It’s the only way I can protect my own identity without the rest of the Sith Lords looking to pry into my life when I was on the Dark Council.”
“Oh. I suppose that makes sense.”
“Plus, I just let them run their own wild fantasies and theories about me.” Marr added, “Something to get them off my back.”
“You must’ve had some really bizarre ones.”
“Only if it keeps them entertained and it worked.”
Ania couldn’t resist staring at the warlord to study the details to memorise for later. Jet black short hair with horns, red skin tone, black inked facial tattoo and scarlet eyes. She faintly noticed the scar across their face–she was curious about how they got it but wanted to save the question for another day.
Marr caught her staring, “What?”
“Has anyone told you how attractive looking you are?” Ania, without thinking, replied with a question… rather bluntly. She wasn’t sure whether to feel mortified or not.
The warlord chuckled. Ania felt her heart flutter rapidly after hearing them laugh… for the first time.
“That’s not the first I’ve been told.”–Marr smirked, deciding to tease the cipher agent–”Do you find me attractive, Ania? I might know what your preferred type of an ideal woman that you appreciate.”
Ania couldn’t tell if Marr was teasing her or throwing subtle hints. Maybe she shouldn’t be thinking of Marr like this… She picked up her cup of decaf before it started to get cold and took a sip, looking elsewhere avoiding Marr’s gaze.
“It was an innocent question.”
