Ahsoka and Maul would be so perfect as enemies to friends. Or enemies to lovers. He tries to kill you — you try to kill him — you are both hunted by brainwashed soldiers who want to kill you — your whole world is destroyed as a result — you become a rogue with mind blowing powers that you can never, at the risk of dying, show — nobody you know remembers what it felt like on that moon on that day — nobody you know understands what it feels like when your master abandons and forgets you and tries to kill you — nobody you know ever saw this coming — suddenly he is the only one you can relate to — you hate it but you hate your loneliness even more — Jedi aren’t supposed to hate — you are no Jedi — it breaks your heart — but he is no Sith either — just a shadow, the both of you — you wish you listened to him — you wish you had killed him — for his sake as much as your own — you can’t imagine existing in a world without him — he is despicable, he is your mirror image — you are just like him in all the ways you despise about yourself — Jedi are supposed to be at peace with themselves — you are no Jedi — he is just like you in all the ways in which he could be saved — when your master wants to kill you, suddenly he is the one on your side — he was right all along — there is no other in the universe that would understand —
And then, and then
— the person you missed so much it twisted your presence in the force — your father figure — obi wan kenobi who you believed was dead — kills the only person in the universe who healed your longing — because he chose revenge over you — even after everything his abandonment never stopped haunting him — you hate him and yourself and every soul in the universe — Jedi aren’t supposed to hate — you are no Jedi — you are no Sith — only a shadow.

Rip to all the Anakin apologists, but I love when guys are worse, actually. I fucking love when characters do Bad Things and are awful people. Big fan of The Atrocities, and an even bigger fan of understanding why the characters committed them. He's a terrible human being--Why did he become one? How does he justify it? Does he really believe he's right, or does he know and not care? What does he think about his crimes while committing them? What about after?
Aren't those question so much more interesting to answer than blaming everything he does on someone else? When you have a character this deeply fucked up and fascinating, it's basically character assassination to pretend he never did anything wrong. Like, come on, he's sinned, now have some fun with it

You know, if I was doing a more mundane Star Wars AU and bypassed the whole fate-of-the-galaxy aspect, I think Lena would be a sabersmith. They could both remain Jedi, but maybe Kara works in the archives, and Lena works in the fabrication shop.
Lena would basically take her knowledge of her client and use the Force to discern the right style and heft of each saber for each Jedi she works with. And each one would suit their Jedi perfectly.
And since the Jedi Code forbids romantic relationships, Lena and Kara could just be in a queer platonic partnership, domestic but separate, in a way. Independent enough to not catch the Council's concern, but close enough that they're each other's person.
Added bonus of Lena and Kara being around for Order 66, and working together to usher a large group of younglings to safety. Because even though they're not Jedi in the field, they still know their way around the saber (and the Force).
But mostly it would just be slow peaceful scenes of them hanging around the Jedi Temple, teaching younglings and advising other Jedi when not being the absolute sweetest non-romantic partners you ever did see.

I wish I could have been celebrating his tactical prowess; he had always been a capable soldier… reliable, steadfast, proficient. Instead, all I could do was mourn the complete loss of his autonomy. His clandestine programming had kicked in like the flip of a switch, the turn of a key… or the mention of a word. In this case, four words. Execute order sixty-six. The same man who had been arrested, and put up against a firing wall as a consequence for disobeying questionable inhumane orders, was now blindly following another. Annihilate the Jedi and anyone that tries to stop you… murder your former Commander. Nevermind the fact that he had just spent countless hours withstanding torturous mind probing to protect her. Nevermind the republic sigil tattoo that he had donned on his face for years; a daily reminder of the service that he was proud to provide. Nevermind the deep loyalty to his captain, his brother whom he had stood shoulder to shoulder with through everything. None of that mattered once his autonomy, his choice, had been taken. The mission objective was simple; eliminate the traitors or die trying, and that’s what happened to ARC Lieutenant Jesse (CT-5597)

Also, unless you got your Rotomphone from outside of Galar, the Rotom in every Galarian's phones is loyal to Macro Cosmos. Having been bred and raised by the company, they keep a tight handle on everyone's social media, private information, etc. And most people would not think about it, assuming that these are just gadgets, often forgetting they're actual beings with their own thoughts. So honestly, it's the fault of the masses for treating their tech so casually in the first place.

I think Grim seeing the ruins of the Jedi Temple was her breaking point actually.
And it's not like she was suddenly going into Sith mode or something. Grim has known about Order 66 for the entire time she's been in Star Wars. She's had that weighing down on her for literal years. She's always been afraid of that happening - which is what led to her not telling anyone about it. (Which I already wrote an essay on so I'm not going to get into that in this post.)
Grim has been constantly hit with failure to change things again and again even before we get to Revenge Of The Sith. She is failing over and over. And eventually there reaches the point where she's away with Obi-Wan and Anakin for a long time. And she's lost track of her progress on The Clone Wars but she knows they've left Season 6 territory and that Season 7 happens at the same time as Revenge Of The Sith during the Seige Of Mandalore Arc - something that she has no point of reference to figure out exactly how close it is. All she knows is that Order 66 is approaching and it is approaching fast. So all of her usual worry and fear has just gotten worse and worse. In fact it's very noticeable to Obi-Wan and Anakin (although neither of them know why, and Obi-Wan can only have his suspicions because she won't talk to him).
On the way to the ship Grim was brimming with joy. Anakin and Obi-Wan both noticed the sudden shift in mood of the young padawan.
Since the Outer Rim sieges had pulled them away from their home Grim had been swirling with fear. She seemed to be anticipating something awful was going to happen. Now her stress and fear had nearly instantly dissolved.
- The Clone Wars Gets A New Victim, Part III: The Rain, Chapter 30: A Reunion.
And while yes this is describing Grim being incredibly happy, it's a sudden shift in her mood. She hasn't been like this in a while. She's been anticipating the execution of Order 66. She's been incredibly afraid this entire period of time between Chapters 29 & 30.
And all of this is likely a couple of months before Revenge Of The Sith even starts. And when Grim does get to the news she instantly begins to panic again because she's absolutely terrified of Order 66.
So anyways. We get to Revenge Of The Sith. Grim's fear has never been worse. Again she fails to change things. There are only days left. She's desperate. In fact she's so desperate she even contemplates killing Anakin to stop Order 66.
For the slightest moment Grim considered that she could stop Anakin’s turn to Vader right here and now.
She could shove him off this roof and he would fall to the ground dead.
- The Clone Wars Gets A New Victim, Part IV: The Storm, Chapter 35: Checkmate
She hesitates to kill him though because she still sees him as her brother. And yes she is absolutely fully willing and attempts to do so without hesitation the next day - but you also have to consider the extreme circumstances. And we'll get to that.
We also see Grim in a pretty dark place mentally in this scene. It's implied that she was going to attempt suicide while on that rooftop. She's already at the edge of her rope here. The only reason she doesn't kill herself in that moment is because she can still feel the light.
So. Already not a good place for her. And this is just the day before Order 66.
So then it does happen. And she spends the entire day up until that moment terrified of it. She's convinced she's going to die. So then Order 66 happens and she jumps (dramatically falls) off a cliff.
From this point she's just completely broken. She almost lets herself die, then decides not to, only to regret it because she feels she doesn't deserve to be alive. She's all over the place and is a grieving mess. She's just lost everything after years of trying to stop it. She literally gave up her entire universe and past life, and now it's all been for nothing.
Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Grim get to the Jedi Temple, and she sees what happened. And she's seen it before, but seeing it in real life is completely different, especially because she now actually knew these people. They were her family. And now they're dead and she knows who killed them. And she's known the entire time.
So that's her breaking point. Because she knows, and had known for all these years. And now it's happened. And it wasn't just that Anakin did this. Because she knew that. It's because Anakin did this and they were friends. He was her brother. It's not fictional. It's not even just the fact that it's real. It's personal. For her it's become personal.
And grief and pain can so quickly become anger. So she snaps. And she gets so lost in her emotions she's trying to justify what she's saying because otherwise she's just as bad as Anakin.
And it was all just too much for her.

The Swift Lineage: Reputation (Ahsoka's Version)
I struggled most with deciding which era is Ahsoka's favorite. I do think she'd be an all-around swiftie after Padme introduces her. She'd rope the 501st into analyzing easter eggs and researching theories with her (Tup is surprisingly good at it), she has a long playlist that she listens to as she cleans, Anakin has to take away her comm before she meditates because she tries to sneakily listen to music with it.
However, as she gets older the one that sticks with her the most is reputation. Not just because she's a badass and this is a badass album, but because through Taylor's struggle of her life and image falling apart, Ahsoka finds the strength herself to keep going after she leaves the order. Sure, I Did Something Bad, Don't Blame Me and Look What You Made Me Do were her go-to hype songs during the war, but Call It What You Want, Delicate and So It Goes remind her that there is more to life than the past you left behind.
I don't think she really relates to the overall romantic theme that is super present in this album, even more so when you analyze it deeper, but I do think that she uses the romantic songs as a sort of get away from her life when it gets hard. And this goes for during the war, after the war, during the rebellion, after the rebellion. It lets her pretend that she's a normal teenage girl listening to pop music for a bit.
She can't bring herself to listen to New Year's Day after Order 66, though.

The fondness in Rex’s voice when he talks about Anakin in rebels kills me every fucking time. Does he know. Does he know the general he served under survived order 66 because he was never a target. Does he know his own brothers in the 501st marched on the Jedi temple at Skywalker’s command. Does he know the man he would follow into hell without hesitation helped create the hell he lived through at the end of the clone wars

Do you have any tips for writing Obi Wan or any meta in mind with his characterizarion?
hmmm sure why not! i'll give a few tips on how i'd write obi-wan. mind you this is how i interpret the character, so ymmv.
i truly do not like it when fics have obi-wan voluntarily leaving the order. like it's so out-of-character for me in my head that the premise of the story + the writing would have to work triple-time to get me to stick around. now if he's been removed from it by an EXTERNAL SOURCE (not the order. i cannot stress this enough: the jedi kicking obi-wan out is so jarring to me i'll leave the fic in an instant) or somehow unable to return to the order for whatever reason, all is well.
not a prodigy, but a genius. obi-wan is an incredibly intelligent person with an absolutely staggering knowledge base in a wide variety of topics, but all that knowledge was earned through blood, sweat, tears, and time. he sat down with his game face on and put in the work. that's also why he makes an excellent teacher: he knows what most students will struggle with because he struggled too, and knows through experience how best to overcome them. i headcanon that it contributes to why he's such a good negotiator: he's really good at stripping down information to the essentials and communicating that information effectively and efficiently to others because of his intense study habits.
humble, but not ignorant of his skills. it's pretty impossible to fully divorce yourself from pride in your achievements, and i don't think it's healthy to not feel any pride at all, so i think obi-wan has a very clear understanding of his skillset and how best to use it. i don't think he'd be ignorant of how good he is at something, especially since the direct consequence of his aptitude led him to being a member of the jedi council. pretty hard to be blind to your strengths when you're being asked for your input on topics that directly draw from that knowledge.
averse to healthcare. listen i enjoy obi-wan whump just as much as the next obi-wan stan (the desire to put him in the cosmic salad spinner comes with the territory, i fear) but as a character who grew up in an environment that deeply cares for the well-being of all, and knowing that you cannot help others unless you yourself first have the ability to do so, i can't really see him ignoring injuries outside of combat scenarios. like on the battlefield he's got more pressing concerns than a pesky little shrapnel wound or five, but once the battle's over?? he might not be first in line to the medics but i can't see him avoiding them entirely. an army without a general is working at a sharp disadvantage and i don't think he'd risk his men by neglecting his physical health in that manner. note that i said 'physical'. make of that what you will :)
duty. obi-wan is the definition of a paladin. he takes an oath and by the force he's going to keep it. train the boy? absolutely, qui-gon. whether or not anakin chooses to respect that training is another matter, but he did definitively get knighted! refuse to kill anakin? listen he's handed vader his own ass to him twice post order 66 and each time he did it he did it nonlethally. that takes skill. that takes dedication. exile yourself to tatooine for 19 years and then decide fuck it, we ball, and die after Once Again Deciding Not To Kill Anakin Skywalker? step aside casper, there's a new friendly ghost in town. every time obi-wan commits to something the man COMMITS. you GOTTA respect that grind.
flirty but in the sense that he's going to match the energy someone brings to the table. like he's a negotiator. he knows how to read people and figure out the Vibes. if he thinks the other person will be 1) 100% receptive and 2) will respond with a delightful wit, why the hell not? obi-wan's highest stat is charisma and he's got expertise in persuasion. whether they're allies or not does not factor into this equation. he can have a little flirtation with morally dubious and potentially hostile characters. as a treat.
this has nothing to do with his character but i firmly believe that he and quinlan vos had at LEAST a fling when they were padawans. there is zero evidence to back this up aside from a few comics where they were being goofy teenagers together but i stand by this. it is an unshakeable aspect of obi-wan to me that has only gotten worse with the kenobi show.
no matter what, no matter how terrible or devastating or downright apocalyptic it gets, obi-wan kenobi will never fall to the dark side. never. it won't be easy, but that is a line he has never, and will never cross. i will not hear any "obi-wan touched the dark side during the theed generator fight" slander. if that was true tell me why the force theme was playing during his moment of triumph!!! Would John Williams Lie To Us Like That?? to our face?????
anyways i could go on forever about obi-wan because he is My Ultimate Blorbo but this post is getting super long so i'll leave it there. hope this helped even a little or at the very least was entertaining for you to read <3
