So obviously, lyrics in this are from Starlight by STARSET, I had a lil bit of trouble choosing which lyrics cause all of them are so great and ended up going with the chorus! Recommend: listen to the song whilst reading!!!

I don’t know what to say

Anakin stretched his limbs out, moving to walk up to Obi-Wan. Ahsoka wasn’t by his side as usual, instead in the Temple studying. Sure, he’d miss her, but it would be nice for him to have time with Obi-Wan, and she needed to catch up on studies.

The brunette moved to the ginger’s side, standing with his hands behind his back. The silence wrapped around them was comforting and warm. If he closed his eyes, Anakin could image he was laying in a meadow, sunlight coating him.

Obi-Wan opened his mouth to say something, and Anakin turned to him expectantly. But no words came from the ginger’s mouth, and instead he gave his brother a wry smile. Anakin laughed softly, a sound melodic and silky. If his laugh had a colour, in that moment it would’ve been baby blue, floating through the air like wisps of joy.

Obi-Wan laughed too, throwing his head back with it. Something about their soft, light laughter made the situation delicately elysian. They weren’t really laughing for a reason, they didn’t have anything to laugh about really. In fact the situation was rather bleak, what with the upcoming fight ahead of them. 

But in that moment, the fight seemed forgotten, or perhaps neither of them really cared.

But I’m going to want you till the stars evaporate

Anakin shuffled to be closer to his brother, reaching up a hand to ruffle the ginger’s hair. It was a joke between the two of them. When Anakin was a Padawan - and shorter than Obi-Wan - the older used to ruffle his hair as a show of the height difference. But Obi-Wan’s smug act was quickly overtaken when Anakin grew taller than him, doing the action as revenge.

Obi-Wan scoffed and grabbed Anakin’s shoulder gently, pushing him away and watching the brunette stumble exaggeratedly. They both laughed at the childishness of their interaction, Anakin slinging an arm over Obi-Wan’s shoulders and dragging him into step, heading towards the loading bay.

They moved in silence, but it was still warm. 

The brothers walked side by side, conjoined by an invisible force of threads, tying them together with a light so blinding it was beautiful. Anakin spoke up finally, the playful tone of his actions lacing his words like honey. “How have you been?” 

Obi-Wan gave him a smile, his head tilted in a statement more smirkish than his expression. “I’ve been good.” Unspoken words floated between them; ‘I’m better now you're here.’ Neither would ever admit it, but the other’s presence was more comforting than hot chocolate on a chilly night.

We’re only here for just a moment in the light

A familiar voice called out to the pair, startling the warmth. It was like a chilled breeze floating past them, causing them to shiver at the broken connection. “Yes, Commander?” Obi-Wan asked, turning to his Commander. Anakin stopped walking too, crossing his arms as he gave Cody a wry smile.

“We’ll be landing soon,” the Clone announced, greeting them both with a nod of his head each. Even with the helmet on, both Jedi could tell he was apologising for interrupting them. 

“Thank you, Cody,” Anakin replied, shooting him another smile before turning to walk again. Obi-Wan stepped to his side, setting the pace for their walk. 

They walked in the quiet for a moment, subconsciously sewing the threads of warm comfort back together. “It’s going to be weird without Ahsoka,” Obi-Wan mused after a moment, tentatively pressing on the threads connecting him to his brother. He grinned when Anakin pulled on the strings in turn, showing he was alright. The strings were golden - unlike Anakin’s baby blue laugh - and glowed in the dimly lit corridor, illuminating the brothers.

“Probably for the better,” Anakin responded lightly, his voice cracking ever-so-slightly as he thought of his sister. “It’s unfair for someone so young to be out in the field like that.” 

Obi-Wan smiled sadly, placing a hand on his brother’s shoulder carefully. The meaning behind it floated like gentle words into Anakin’s mind; ‘You are too young, do not blame yourself.’ He returned the smile, pushing gratitude through the bond and to his brother.

One day it shines for us the next we’re in the night

Both brothers felt the ship jerk as they came out of hyperspace, and they simultaneously quickened their pace in order to get to the bay on time. The corridors rang with their footsteps and Anakin glanced to the ginger, a grin forming on his face.

They reached the bay quickly, and joined their troops on a gunship. Anakin stood beside his former Master, gripping the hanging handle with one hand, the other waving as he talked. He gave his orders to the troops, who all nodded before turning back to their own conversations.

Through the slits in the walls of the gunship, the brothers could see the night sky surrounding them. They were used to the inky black of Coruscant, staring in awe at the purple and blue sky, stars lighting it all. It was serene and ethereal. 

“There are so many stars,” Anakin whispered to his brother, who nodded. Obi-Wan’s face was adorned with a dopey smile, his eyes reflecting the natural glow of the galaxy like a sea of swimming stars. Anakin turned back to the sky, knowing his own eyes were probably doing the same. He breathed in deeply, the chilly night air like icy water down his throat - satisfying and relaxing. 

So say the word and I’ll be running back to find you

The gunship landed silently and the doors opened. The Clones instantly spilled out, but the Jedi were slower. Anakin stepped out into the lush grace with a curious grin, examining the landscape. He turned to Obi-Wan, who’s face portrayed the same awe.

They sadly bid their temporary farewells, setting off with their troops into the forest. They were to meet up again once they’d navigated their way around the abandoned village in the North. 

Anakin stood with the hilt of his lightsaber in hand, the coolness of the metal soothing the adrenaline pulsing through him. They were silent as they trekked through the trees, laughing every time he heard one of the Clones quip something; often curses from tripping or words of admiration for the terrain.

He gasped suddenly when a cold feeling settled over him, seeping from the strings attached to his brother. He pulled on the bond worriedly, receiving a short, hurried tug in response. Anakin quickly ordered his troops forwards, and together they rushed through the brush towards Obi-Wan.

Anakin gasped when they reached him, a large black and furry creature standing over one Clone with it’s jaws parted, displaying hundreds of gleaming and sharp white teeth. The brunette hurried forward, impaling his lightsaber through the back of the creature. The blue lit up the clearing, giving him another visibility to see Obi-Wan battling another of the mystical creatures.

A thousand armies won’t stop me I’ll break through

Anakin hurried to help him, ducking and rolling underneath a swipe and retaliating with his glowing blue blade. Obi-Wan breathed out a ‘thank you’ before rushing to save a Clone. The brunette glanced around, counting at least a dozen of the huge beasts, towering over Clones. He had to admit, the creatures were mystically breath-taking, but in the same way absinthe glowed. Deadly, yet beautiful. 

Anakin moved around, helping as many people at once as possible. At some point, he and Obi-Wan fell into a defensive position - back to back with their lightsabers in their right hands. 

When a shrill scream broke through the air, Anakin turned to aid the fallen Clone, who was clutching his knee, staring at the spot where his leg had been moments before. A shot of pity coursed through Anakin’s body before he decapitated the creature, nose wrinkling in disgust when a place of the Clone’s armour dropped from its mouth.

He dragged the Clone to stand on his one leg, supporting him with a sympathetic smile. The Clone began lazily firing at the remaining creatures as Anakin helped him to the centre. Obi-Wan move to stand back to back with his brother again, protecting him from behind. 

The remaining Clones hurried into the cluster, shooting at the last creatures. Anakin gave the Clone to Rex before lunging forward and jumping onto the back of one creature, plunging the blade of his lightsaber into its head. 

As the body of the beast crumbled to the floor, Anakin stood up to see the bodies of the creatures littering the area, alongside the dead Clones.

I’ll soar the endless skies for only one sight

He closed his eyes for a moment, mourning their losses. Obi-Wan placed a hand on his shoulder comfortingly, sending waves of sympathy and warmth through their bond. Opening his eyes, Anakin gave him a grateful smile.

“We should rest,” Anakin told their troops, eyes locking with his Captain’s through the visor of his helmet. Rex gave him a sad smile, holding the Clone up with his arm. “Bury the dead.”

Obi-Wan nodded and the pair quickly set jobs for the uninjured, Kix tending to the legless Clone. Others had scratches and cuts - one trooper was crying tears of panic that he couldn’t see out of one eye - but some were just cleaning the blue blood from the creatures off their armour.

They gathered firewood and logs to sit on, the trees above them shelter enough. Anakin helped Cody and many others bury their dead, wincing as the last specks of dirt covered the white armour. They murmured their prayers softly.

Obi-Wan helped Anakin drag the bodies of the creatures into a circle around their camp, a barrier of sorts. They were tempted to eat the meat, but had enough rations and didn’t exactly feel like attempting to gut such a huge beast.

Of your starlight

Anakin yawned as he settled down on a log beside his brother, watching the smoke from the campfire swirl up into the night. He stared at the glittering stars and smiled, leaning back against a tree. The fire was keeping them warm, and the stories they shared kept them safe.

“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Obi-Wan whispered, his gaze locked on the gleaming sky as well. Anakin nodded, humming his agreement. 

“I wish we could see this every night,” Anakin mused longingly, a content smile on his lips. Obi-Wan let out a soft laugh, mint blue wisps of joy floating into the air invisibly. They danced with the baby blue ones of Anakin, childish giggles floating through the air.

“One day,” Obi-Wan murmured, his words of hope like a warm drink in their hands. He reached over to rest his hand on his brother’s, soothingly rubbing his thumb over Anakin’s knuckles. “One day.” 

Anakin hummed back happily, letting his eyes drift closed as the warmth over the fire covered him like a blanket. He glanced at the night sky and the stars one last time, before letting sleep wrap him up like a newborn baby. “One day,” he breathed out.

One day.

This very much is how Ekko felt after he believed he lost everyone when he was grieving so heavily from the loss. Ekko tried to stay strong but it was these feelings that led him to turning to the addiction to shimmer. (more under the cut)

I feel like this represents Ekko when he realizes that he can get be a better person. Be better than the drug he turned to. So this kind of feels like him inspiring himself to rise up.

I am a nation, I am a million faces Formed together, made for elevation I am a soldier, I won't surrender Faith is like a fire that never burns to embers (Who's gonna stand up, who's gonna fight?) The voice of the unheard Ekko gained strength after being released from the chains of his addiction. With others, like scar to back his cause he was finally able to accept what he suffered and use that as power for a good cause. This kind of shows that he is tired of not fighting back, and he isn't doing it for himself.

This, I feel, is Ekko once he finally feels free and now he is ready rise from the ashes. It's even more than that, he is taking his past experiences as motivation to move towards a brighter future.

Cut Songs

Just to give you an idea of how much work I put into my Cornelius x Franny playlist, here is a list of songs that were cut from it, with explanations as to why. 1. Eraser Girl by Maretu - Oh man, this song is dark... Before I had a concrete theme, I had a lot of "dark love" songs on there, this being one of them. This song in particular ends with both partners committing suicide together. 2. In The Bedroom, Royal Suite, Secret Grotto, Private Table, and Rooftop Lounge from HuniePop - Cut for one reason... THEY'RE NOT ON SPOTIFY. It sucks because these songs are PERFECT. UGH. 3. Boom Boom Boom by KIRA - Couldn't make it fit... unfortunately. Real sad because this a song you could easily imagine Neil and Franny singing... well, vocaloid versions of them, ha ha. 4. Saw and Pendulum by (?) ft. Hatsune Miku - Another dark song I cut once I found a theme. It's a yandere song, and like most yandere songs, someone got murdered. 5. Games by KIRA - Another one I just couldn't make fit. I do plan on doing something with this one, though. 6. Hot Milk by MentaiRocker - Cut because it was too hardcore of a sound for the playlist, and I had settled on the one rock song I was gonna put on the playlist. 7. SYMBIOTIC by Starset - Same as above. 8. Saccharine by Jazmin Bean - This was more of a "love is disgusting" type of song. It was cut very early on. 9. Soap by Melanie Martinez - The vibe didn't quite fit for this one. 10. stillness in woe by Purity Ring - Cut because the lyrics were too cryptic, as well as too "ethereal" sounding. 11. Holy Lance Explosion Boy by rerulili - Not really a love song... more like a "we fucked up so now we gotta stay together" type of song. 12. Two Faced Lovers by wowaka (rip) - Again, wasn't really a love song. Just a dark story about two "lovers." 13. SuperNova by Spott - Because breakcore definitely didn't fit the vibe... oh well... 14. Cosmos Love by Lexie - It's not on Spotify :( 15. Darling by BlueBrony - Also not on Spotify... ugh. The good ones never are. 16. Veni Vidi Vici (Magic) by Scraton - Cut last minute because I couldn't make it fit anywhere. But I also realized that the filter on the samples makes it sound like Boyfriend from Friday Night Funkin' is singing it. 17. Fluffy Chocolate Bunnies by Mr. Sunset - Not. On. Spotify! UGGHHH! That song is so good, too!!!! 18. Breathing Space by DJT and Rusyd Rosman (Shuffle Horse Remix) - Say it with me everybody... it's not on Spotify... 19. Star Lily Dance Performance by MASA WORKS DESIGN - It's part of the Onibi series, and if you know what that means because vocaloid was a part of your childhood like me, then you know exactly why it was cut... 20. Brass Noise Flamenco by MASA WORKS DESIGN - I realized Cornelius and Franny ain't like that, so it was cut. 21. Sick Sick Sick by Pinnochio-P - Another one that was cut last minute because I couldn't quite make it fit. 22. Jenny by Studio Killers - ... I can't not see this as a lesbian love song, I'm sorry y'all. 23. Kuru Kuru Pa! by Lamaze-P - Because I'm gonna make a stand alone piece for this song. I'm inspired, lol. 24. Hole-dwelling by Kikuo - Too depressing for the theme I was going for. 25. But I Like It by Lauren Sanderson - The sound was too hardcore for the theme, same as the others above. 26. La La Lainey by Forever The Sickest Kids - Cut because it's more of a Cornelius x Lizzy song, to be honest... 27. 1980s Horror Film by Wallows - Ah, the good ol' bait and switch. Unfortunately, not good for the playlist. 28. Butterfly's Repose by Zabawa - WAAAAAY too sad for the theme. I ain't tryna make anybody cry. 29. Lemonade by Nicole Dollanganger - Too dark. Ends with murder... 30. Heart Shaped Bed by Nicole Dollanganger - Cut mostly because I have an image idea for this one.

im putting these two questions together as one answer bc they're interconnected in that way -- so largely with writing, music very much inspires me. i'll hear a song and a scene will pop into my head, or a general idea of a story, bc i gravitate towards music that tells a story or has compelling lyrics, or has great atmosphere. the band, Starset, is a very inspiring band for me for those reasons, bc the atmosphere is so expansive and there are so many emotional moments that i find i can craft stories around

so by that same token, one of the songs that inspires me the most (i cant say THE one song, bc i'll have different songs that inspire me for different fics) is "Disappear" by Starset.

but again, so many songs inspire me for different reasons. i have this one catmeleon au that has me gravitating towards "City of the Dead" by Eurielle. one of the scenes in my bumbleby massage au (man i miss that fic SDKFHSKGHSF) was written while listening to "Silhouette" by Aquilo on repeat. "Hold Me Now" by RED was the inspiration for the title for one of my chenrich fics.

so yeah many songs inspire me, and music inspires me a lot while writing. honestly the whole reason my one chenrich wip ("disappear" aka, the one where i had alex succumb to her wounds from her fall) even exists at all is bc of "Disappear" by starset and this ONE piece of gorgeous chenrich art that i happened to see at just the right moment, when i was listening to that song.

STARSET is pretty cool, definitely going to check them out some more. I just started with their most recent album. Kinda reminds me of Skillet and Within Temptation. Basically middle school music nostalgia. Do you have any favorite songs or albums?

Music Inspiration for writing Sci-Fi!

STARSET - An amazing source of inspiration and emotion for many types of Sci-Fi, they're alternative cinematic rock, their main theme is science fiction and outer space, with great emphasis in that futuristic ambience in instrumental, lyrics and voice effects! They're very narrative, so different songs tell different stories with varying emotions, a good spectrum of sad and tranquil songs to hype, aggressive and motivational, a lot of different emotions to fuel strong scenes! Cryo Chamber - A wide array of ambient songs about different Sci-Fi and Fantasy themes, usually long in duration and inmersive enough to serve as background music for ttrpgs! Try 'Songs for Dead Planets' or 'Off World Colonies in Rain'! Epic Mountan Music's Kurzgesagt OST - Kurzgesagt tends to visit space and future for several videos, and the music is always a good partner to the big numbers and exisential crisis in their videos. Try the original soundtracks of each video for that feeling!

18. Do you title your first before, during or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?

it varies!! when i was first writing deceit so natural in 2017/2018, where people go to die didn't get a title until the very last chapter was posted. by contrast, stars go down (and also a midsummer night's meme in the squad up universe) both had titles before i started writing.

i know i find it easier to start writing if i have a title, probably because my wip then feels like more of a tangible thing / the title gives it a more unified mood and theme, but unfortunately most of my titling happens after everything gets written. a lot of times the titles are song lyrics - i've used lyrics from starset, written by wolves, and fall out boy, to name a few of the popular ones. chapter titles vary a little more. most of the time it's just bullshit pulled from the recesses of my mind that feels fitting, sometimes it's a line of text from the chapter itself (as is the case with at skyfall), other times they are yet again song lyrics

This is really hard!! I have so many songs that I adore!! Let's see though.

Starset - Last to Fall! It has really great vocals and a beat drop that never fails to fuck me up, AUGHH I love it so muchhhh

Another Starset standout has to be Trials I think. I find the lyrics really really inspiring, and the violin and cello are fucking bomb

I never told anyone but sometimes I had a sci-fi-ish lucid dreams, it was really not often and all of them special for me, the one of those dreams I had when I studied at college and this was the only one that I'm write down but then decided to rewrite. I remember I've seen sci-fi-ish city with skyscrapers, somehow the skies were red, sometimes I saw futuristic quarters, the door that opens automatically and such, don't remember all the details now. I hope you'll like it and sorry in advance for my grammar. This is why I daydreaming to become a script writer for video games or for tv series but I guess I should choose an a literature faculty and learn more foreign languages back than. Let me write down a small summary of my story. A teenage girl who lives in the city, 2009 year, she's has a bad eyesight and wearing glasses and has an abusive father, also she loves exploring the environment since she's get outside not so often, she's live at the countryside, she has friends but she's feeling sad because of her mother's death. A teen is curious and a good listener, she loves abandoned places and searching for things. Once she get into abandoned house and noticed unusual thing, a triangle like portal into another planet. When she gets inside the portal she's find herself into another kind of world. She's traveled into unknown planet to her, the year there's 2078. There's technology is advanced and people lives alongside aliens, droids and monsters. She's meet with guy who's was born at the planet and helps her to adapt to the environment. She's was shocked and in the same time excited about new things there but later on everything becoming dangerous. She's meet up with a man she thought of him as a villain or criminal at first but he's was just a broken man, he's scientist who wants his daughter back. Sorry I didn't came up the names for the characters and planets in my story yet but I'll. Hightly inspired by Starset and will use the lyrics of their songs. Working on it. But for now I'm on countryside. I wanna a break.

Well turns out if it's instead about two ppl who, regardless of whether they harbour romantic feelings for the other or not, are having a grand ole time running this con they embarked on for the sake of necessity/spite/financial gain/what have you, it can be entertaining as hell. You just gotta write it right. It's not about the awkwardness and the miscommunication, it's about being an impossible lil shit

Because i feel like wherever that could've gone could've been Interesting, but it unfortunately didn't make the cut for the sake of the already bloated as hell scene count and the flow i was Trying to achieve

I am Big on rereading, both my own stuff, stuff of ppl I know, and select fics by strangers that Live In My Brain. I only started actually using ao3 bookmarks Very recently so a lot of stuff is kinda just lost to me in that regard now, but yes, fics get reread A Whole Lot

47. If i don't know where (confused about how as well) was a pair of shoes, what kind would it be? Describe the shoes.

It's like a pair of old sneakers that you really should throw out by now but also keep justifying keeping bc like Technically they're still good for gardening or something okay, yes i know that the sides are cracked all the way down to the soles and the fabric is starting to tear out and some of the rings lining the holes the laces go in have come loose, and you never quite managed to get out the marker scribbles from that one time in class and- okay. Look. It's old as shit and falling apart and you're Emotionally Attached to it bc you wore it for Years so even if you never wear it again it can just sit on the shoerack or in a hallway cabinet or something until it crumbles to dust

Which is fitting considering "true and tried and covered in mud" is also a p good way to describe Raz and Lili's lifelong friendship in general
