This Song!
Omg legit cannot get it out of my head that this song MUST be in the next season of Bridgerton for so many reasons!
It's an absolute banger, legit this song would be so amazing for a dance scene between Colin and Penelope! The lead out, the soft start, the fast pace could be so gooddd like I'm just getting Daphne/Simon dance scene vibes from it. (My head canon for this song is unhinged right now) also I feel like this song is so fast paced that the cut scenes to other characters dancing and their stories feel natural
The name of the song itself references a Greek Myth that is also referenced in Hedwig and the angry inch (if you haven't listened to the origin of love by Neil Patrick Harris you are also missing out) but basically from what I remember, it says that all the way back when humanity first began that we all had four arms and four legs and two head (you get the idea) and Zeus was like 'fk you guys' and split is all in two and then Poseidon was like 'have a flood too' and pushed all of the other halves away from each other. The mythos being this; We spend our whole lives, looking for our other halves, trying to be whole and to say "call me by your name" is to say we are one, we are two halves together made whole, it means I see you, I love you, you complete me.
I just feel like this song is so Polin coded and I've always had this head canon that they will incorporate some Greek Mythology into the show from Colin's travel. I loved that little bit in the book where he waxed poetic about The birth of Venus (Painting by Sandro Botticelli) after seeing it and I'd dearly love if they incorporated just a little of that in the show.

when i tell you i am counting the days for bridgerton season 3!!!
this season already means so much to me, i cannot lie that i was a little disappointed when i learned that benedict’s story was not gonna be s3 but POLIN OMG
i think this might be my favorite ship so far (i’ve only read till eloise’s book). i don’t usually like friends to lovers that much, anyone who knows me knows that i’m a sucker for enemies to lovers. but friends to lovers i’ve come to realize hold so much more tension and yearning.
there’s also the teenager side of me who’s sobbing at the idea of a plus size woman being a romantic lead. growing up i’ve never seen a woman who looks like me being desired, through books and movies we, fat girls, were always told that we will only ever be loved if we lost weight and looked a certain way. and that’s bullshit! i cannot wait to see Colin head over heels in love with Penelope so that the part of me that was always told i should change may heal a little. i see so much of myself in Penelope, a wallflower who only wants to shine, and i’m so excited to see her grow and finally show the ton the magnificent woman she is.
nicola and luke i cannot wait to see you shine!!!

OMG I haven't gotten to talk about a careless man's careful daughter in literally years!
To recap, a careless man’s careful daughter is a canon-era Polin AU (show/book fusion) in which Penelope has an older brother which opens after the carriage scene happens and Colin just walks into their house and casually asks for Pen’s hand. Big bro is just like “hell nah” and chaos ensues. In the tag above, there's one scene I've already shared from it and I'll share the opening scene below:
When Lady Featherington says “Felicity” before Colin can get a word in edgewise to ask for Penelope’s hand, her older brother rolls his eyes. “Good God, Mother! Of course not Felicity, he arrived with Penelope and insisted she sit beside him. Not that he’s good enough for either of them.”
Colin’s polite smile freezes on his face. He’s known for years that Preston Featherington doesn’t like him and he’s tried not to let it bother him, but he wasn’t expecting this level of aggression.
“Preston,” Lady Featherington hisses, her daughters’ exclamations equally disapproving.
“Over my dead body.”
Lady Featherington’s jaw drops and Felicity’s eyes are as wide as saucers.
Penelope whispers her brother’s name.
It is only the second time in his life he’s been stunned speechless. He’d honestly thought this conversation would be more of a formality than anything else, given that Penelope is very much of age and doesn’t need her brother’s permission. But to be met with this much hostility . . . “I beg your pardon?” he finally manages.
“The answer is no. I wouldn’t let you marry Penelope if you were the last man on earth.”
“Preston Featherington!” Lady Featherington looks to be on the verge of a nervous attack.
“You cannot be serious,” says Penelope, having finally recovered her voice.
“Deadly,” Preston replies.
“I would like to have a private moment with you, my lord,” he manages through gritted teeth.
“And me,” adds Penelope instantly.
“Not you,” Preston retorts.
“Yes me,” Penelope insists.
“Fine. Not that it will change my answer.”

Hi! Thank you so much for you Kanthony/Polin post 🩷 seeing what people have been saying about not even Polin but Nicola and Luke (because the complaints/nastiness are directly connected to the real human actor’s appearance) has been hurtful as someone feeling like oh I can be chubby and have love. Personally I love kanthony so much (I very much disliked season 1 and kanthony’s story got me to watch bridgerton at all) but I personally connect to Penelope as a wallflower pushed to the wayside with my prettier friends. Anyway sorry for the ramble. I appreciate your post and I’m sorry people are not being nice to you about it as well. You’re a good human with compassion and kindness I hope you know that.
omg SAME!!! and pls don’t apologize for rambling, I’m a huge rambler myself (did that post not tip you off😋) and especially when I get up on my soap box about something like this. I’ve been kanthony since before season 2 came out, altho I never read the books (probably won’t because bodice ripper novels aren’t really my thing, for some reason I just enjoy that particular subgenre more on screen), and it also made my love for Bridgerton as a whole skyrocket. Well, that and my undying love for all things Regency/Jane Austen🥰 but yeah any time you feel the least bit unseen or unheard or intimidated by all this nastiness just come to me, I’m always willing to listen to a friend💖

That bridgerton sneak peak had some good chemistry they might make me tune in idk, I usually agree with you on most things ship related but I have a problem with this specific ship, Colin is the least interesting of the siblings so far but that's okay I didn't care for anthony either before his season, my bigger problem is Penelope, I think they tried to go for the drama and the twists too much and made her seem kind of awful? They're trying to pretend racism doesn't exist in that era but the way she outed Marina in s1 ( who was not doing a good thing at all but I don't she had much of a choice given her other option was abject poverty) and the way she talks about her friends in her column and outs everyone's shit, things that have really serious consequences on people's lives. The writers literally called her a villain which???? They're doing something I feel a lot of shows have a problem with lately, trying to girlboss women doing shitty things, same with their brand of white feminism for Eloise who spends all her scenes lamenting her fate and being "quirky" with no actual depth or confronting her privilege or trying to help other women or really anything at all, all she does is talk like a "not like other girls" girlie circa Tumblr 2012 and they're thinking omg we're being such feminists right now 🤣😅🤣
Girllll you better tune in anyway so we can get more seasons and other ships you might like better! PRESERVE OUR LIMITED ROMANCE GENRE.
In all seriousness, I totally get where you’re coming from! I personally love polin and I’m very excited for them, but I don’t think the writing has always been the best. Obviously a lot of polin fans don’t agree with me, but I still think this season not being Benedict’s is so strange and a mistake. The general audience adores him and I think both Colin and Penelope could’ve done with another season of personal growth (and slow burn) to help them win over the rest of the audience more. I like Colin and I think he’s actually really funny when they give him a chance, but he’s done nothing to scream leading man like Benedict has yet. I guess S3 will tell us how much is on the writing so far vs Luke Newton. I want him to be so amazing, but I get the doubts because I still have some nerves about it too. I think the sneak peek looked great and is a great start so I’m gonna go in with optimism and positive thoughts!
Gotta defend Eloise because I think her thinking she’s ranting and valid but actually being more out of touch than she realizes is mostly purposeful! I like that as a character flaw and I think it’s realistic for someone in her position. Or maybe I just love Eloise lol. Penelope is a bit of a more… complex case. I see why people hate her, although I personally mostly like her even though I think she sucks for what she did to the Bridgertons. She’s just treated so polarizing one way or the other by the fandom and the producers are obsessed with her and I think that’s part of the problem.
I have doubts any of the Bridgerton ships will beat kathony for me but overall this fandom is so weird! I don’t get the ship wars amongst the ships because they are all canon and they’re all meant to have their spotlight and be enjoyed. I don’t mean you anon when I say this btw, I mean more the hardcore Bridgerton fandom. It’s why I don’t engage with them a lot lol. I just want to enjoy a cute ship every season.

I have an idea in taking advantage of the 3rd son and 3rd daughter thing and lets imagine bethrothed as children Polin inspired by "this isn't my idea of fun" from the Swan Princess. Like every summer they meet for the season but every winter they are apart.
OMG! SOMEONE ELSE WHO KNOWS ABOUT SWAN PRINCESS!
I used to love that movie as a kid. Can barely find anyone else who knows about it.
Ok so let's imagine this scenario.
Lord Featherington had gotten into some debt with the Bridgertons due to his gambling. In effort to save himself he offered up his third daughter as a bride for the third son of the Bridgerton brood.
Edmund was about to decline, the Bridgertons believed in love matches after all, until he noticed five-year-old Colin's fascination with said baby girl. Colin was staring at her with complete wonderment, his eyes lighting up when she giggled at him.
Edmund knew that look; he's seen on himself in the reflection of his wife's eyes.
They came to an agreement. During the season they would have the children visit one another, after all it was rather convenient with their houses being right across the street, hoping that love would form between them as they got older.
For the first few years the arrangement worked well, Penelope happily toddling along after Colin who would take her out on different adventures. There was an added bonus of Eloise and Penelope striking up a friendship as well. The trio often seen together as they wandered around the Bridgerton house.
Things changed though the fifth year of this arrangement. It was the final day of the season, and every family was packing up to get ready to go to the country. It was on this morning that 10-year-old Colin found himself being teased by 17-year-old Anthony, and 15-year-old Benedict.
"Eating fast there aren't you Col?" Benedict said, reaching for his own piece of toast.
"He's just excited to see his wife," Anthony continued on.
"Wife?" Colin muttered, his face scrunching up at the thought.
"Why Penelope of course."
Colin felt his brow furrow more. Why would his brothers say such a thing? Colin would rather not get married at all, especially not to someone so young. He rather marry someone his own age if he had to.
Anthony turned towards Benedict. "I wager they'll be married her first season."
Benedict nodded. "They'll make such cute babies."
"He might have to duel Eloise for her hand-"
Colin glared at his brothers.
"I will never marry Penelope Featherington!"
"Oh."
If Penelope were older, she may have brushed the words off, or simply told Colin that she never asked him to marry her in the first place. But little Penelope was only five and did not quite yet understand how big feelings could be. All Penelope heard was that the boy who she was always told she was going to marry to help her family angrily yell at his brothers that he will in fact not marry her.
Tears falling down her face Penelope ran and buried her face into her mother's skirts.
"Mama, wanna go," Penelope muttered.
Portia, suspicious at what made her daughter want to leave in tears, agreed and picked up her daughter to walk back to the waiting carriage.
The next year tragedy struck both families. Viscount Bridgerton died from a bee sting. The family making the decision to permanently move to their London house. It was during this time Anthony had found the contract between his father and Lord Featherington. While he always had teased his brother about the third Featherington daughter he never knew that there was actually a betrothal between them.
He couldn't keep this from Colin.
"So, we're actually to be married?" Colin asked as digested what Anthony told him.
"It won't be for a long time. Not until you finish school, and she is out in society," Anthony tried to assure Colin. His brother was actually taking the news rather well in Anthony's opinion, but then again he wasn't the one being used as collateral in this arrangement.
"Do you think-" Colin paused, he looked to thinking his words over. "Do you think she knows?"
"It is highly likely that she does. It's probably why our parents pushed you two together in the past." Not to mention her mother was one of the biggest gossips in the ton. Anthony was rather surprised the whole ton didn't know about the betrothal.
Colin nodded but Anthony could see the desire to run.
In the Featherington household Lord Featherington had grown sick and could no longer make the trip to London. With the family's finances even tighter, it was agreed that Portia would travel to London alone for the season to keep up appearances and any possible business connections. Then as the girls got older and came out into society they would travel with their mother as well. Those who were not out stayed in the country with their father.
When Portia informed Violet and Anthony of this over tea there had been some objections. There was the contract to consider after all, and they were sure Eloise wouldn't be happy about not seeing her friend, but Portia offered a happy medium.
"The children can communicate through letters. I have some already from Penelope."
That had severed as the replacement for the seasonal visits for the next ten years. Penelope in the Featherington country home while Colin went to school first at Eton, then Cambridge where he also spent some years traveling.
During the year of 1812 Lord Featherington had finally passed from his sickness. The finances worse than ever, and despite her daughter wanting to wait for another year Portia pushed to have Penelope debuted in the 1813 season.
It was a few days before her 17th birthday that Penelope found herself back in London. Her family was promenading when a stray wind caught her bonnet, the loose ribbons coming undone.
"Oh no," Penelope muttered chasing after the fabric.
So focused on her bonnet, Penelope had not noticed how far it had taken her nor the ridders it blew towards.
Penelope had noticed when the bonnet flew into the face of one of the ridders and unseated him from his horse.
Penelope gasped in horror at the young man now covered in mud. But he surprised her. Instead of getting angry, he laughed.
"Well, that wasn't how I expected the ride to go." The man laughed as he removed Penelope's bonnet from his face.
Penelope could only stare. It may have been ten years, but Penelope could recognize her betrothed anywhere. Her parents made sure she never forgot.
Colin stood, now fully looking at her. "Well, well, well if it isn't my wayward bride turned bonnet assassin." He picked up her hand kissing her knuckles. "Hello Penelope."

colin is left handed but was raised to know how to use his right hand for things like sports and writing in school
Penelope likes his left handed handwriting better than his right, it's sentimental for her
she perfumed every single letter she sent that man but strictly w/ Demeter fragrances like 'grass' and 'jelly donut'
When Pen gets pregnant, Colin eats all her preggo craving foods w/ her and develops a rating system. ('pickles, cream cheese, and peanut butter? 4/10, absolutely disgusting, you are a menace in flesh + hot cheeto dust, maple syrup, and french fries? 8/10, surprisingly good, i change my mind, you are a genius and i kind of love this?)
Penelope leaves post it notes all over the house to remind her to do things. Colin also leaves post it notes all over the house. They always get their post its mixed up

I had a thought about how they could keep the proposal line and make it more romantic. Imagine, Colin’s pouring his soppy heart out about how much he loves her while proposing. Pen’s stood there so shocked she can’t speak so doesn’t respond. Cue awkward silence, then Colin says ‘for god’s sake Penelope are you going to marry me or not?’
Omg that would actually be better than doing it in a carriage the minute they stop kissing.

OKAY DREAM BUT WAIT A SECOND….
HC, because I am obsessed with polin ngl and I think this will be super cute. 🤭🤭
But Benedict basically begs Colin to try and bring back exotic flowers and/or exotic seeds of flowers when he’s off on his trips so that he can surprise Clover with them and be the best husband ever. 😅
He essentially promises Colin that he will check in on Pen and dance with her at balls and stuff so that no other suiters have the opportunity to woo her. He’ll even write to him about how’s she’s doing when he’s gone. And he promises he’ll help him fix their friendship when they’ve fought lol Like will be telling Pen “he’s an idiot but he’s our idiot and you know he loves you” and it becomes a secret pact they have with each other 😂
And though it’s a huge drag and mentally exhausting dealing with this “childish behavior” Ben puts up with it just to see clover all excited and happy that she owns plants she only ever read about. She evens “rewards him” greatly afterwards 👀
And clover doesn’t understand where he gets them from. And she thinks he must be spending a fortune to do so. She insists he doesn’t have to, it must be such a inconvenience. And he tells her that’s nonsense and not to worry. He’d give her the moon and the stars if she asked (and she did one day in a tipsy state to see what he’d do hehe and he literally painted what becomes her favorite painting of the moon and stars over a field of flowers)
And idk I love the relationship the brothers and idk why but I could totally see them doing something like this.

Indeed the reunification scene--apart from a certain few couples.
Oopsie, its meant to be Daphne who is pregnant--but I'll go fi that. Still it is sweet, Daphne always being a mother hen.
And with Polin...Penelope has spent the last two years trying to disappear, wracked with guilt that she has barely been able to forgive herself for, let alone believe that Colin could ever love her after all the pains she caused. But what she doesn't know is that Colin has spent all his nights dreaming of her, his heart yearning for her as T-cubed travelled. He might not have agreed with her actions, but he will not abandon her--never again.
Oh ho ho, yes Anthony does act quite shifty eh? Let's just say the past is coming back to haunt Anthony--for eighteen year old Anthony was very different from the man who fell for Kate, a boy turned man whose good intentions always seem to cause him more pain...
I'd say Benedict is less scared and more just barely holding onto reality. Four years he's been ensconced in his fantastical reality and he reluctantly was pulled back to the real world. But still, reality is far far too painful. For she is not there...until Michael says those sweet words. And as a treat I'll give you a sneak peek of a scene I wrote...
“Sophie!” Benedict calls, eyes searching, barely registering how he reconfigures or carves out paths through the bushes.
“Sophie!” He makes steps out of a stone bench and rises high, scanning the bushes, his heart thrumming. “Sophie!” he cries with every fibre of his being, reaching his soul out into the ether. And then he hears it.
“Ben! Ben!”
The sound sweeter than anything he’s created in his dreams.

How do you rank the whole bridgerton series?
This is not fair, I love them all! Truly, I think they are all fantastic stories.
But my favorite one is always going to be Benophie. Even though Benedict makes me so angry (as almost every other male character in the series), Sophie is the greatest character of the series for me. She’s just so amazing and I want her to stay exactly as she is in the books (so help me God if Shonda turns her into a girlboss like they did with Penelope and Eloise). And Benedict is the artist, so, I’m deeply biased.Also, Posy!!!!!!
Honestly everyone else is at the same level.
I loved Daphne and Simon. In the show they were very toxic and non-communicative. In the book, everything is much better. They communicate quite well and he opens up to her in a way the series never showed. Also, Simon reluctantly accepts to marry Daphne to save her reputation, instead of Daphne pushing him as she did in the show.
Kanthony is so amazing! The chapter where Kate learns about her trauma made me cry! I really like them and I wish the show would have followed the story as it was. But there’s still hope that we see her backstory on the show because it happened once they were married.
Polin! I love Penelope, she’s fantastic. Even though she is hopelessly in love with Colin, she still manages herself with such dignity. And I love that they both become writers and live in Blomsbury.
Philoise!!! Philip Crane is another of my favorite characters. I absolutely love their relationship and how he is the only man who takes her seriously and is honest with her. And the twins are just pehnomenal!
Franchael, well, it’s such a bittersweet story. A story about finding love again! Hannah Dodd has one hell of a story ahead. It’s going to be fantastic.
Hyareth is such a fun couple. And the twists! OMG! I need a whole book on Gareth’s parents. Gareth is such a better person than I, cause I would totally called “uncle” to Lord St. Clair if that were in his place.
Grucy might be a second place? I love Lucy. She is my second favorite character. And it’s also a very crowded story with so many twists. Also, Gregory might be the least problematic man in this series. I can’t really think of any point where he did something really bad like every other male character did.

Wrote a whole bunch of thoughts about Polin and shoved them in my drafts just to get it out of my system.
I mourn the vision I had of Polin and that’s ok.
That’s what fanfiction is for.
I still love Polin. I know Luke and Nicola are gonna be so awesome for s3! 🥰
I’ll most likely watch s3 because of it and the fact that I’ve been so invested in Polin 😊
I’m probably going to be a little less active and flutter off to different fandoms for a while until things in the Polin-Nation calm down. Emotions are strong but we’ve all been a really positive ship so far.
Plus I would really love to have that feeling again when you get reintroduced to a ship and fall in love with it all over again!
I genuinely cannot wait for the new authors that will pop up and all the new gifs and graphics and the amazing art! When s3 drops.
I know I’ll come back to stories I’ve missed and be like OMG I missed THIS?! Thank god it’s finished 🤩 😅😂
Polin fans who remembers when I was in the Polin tag and spamming it with Polin story recs and ideas - will you recommend YOUR favorite stories? I most likely have read it tbh but there’s so many amazing stories out now and I do love to reread amazing stories 😅 🤭
