Friday is marked on Ice's secretary's calendar as "date night" since the moment she started working for him. And it means his husband is going to stroll in their part of the building at 4.30, leave her favourite coffee on the table before closing the door behind him. It takes between fifteen to thirty minutes before she sees both men strolling out, Admiral Kazansky's hair a little messed up and his husband's sporting the biggest and brightest grin she has seen on a person before. She never takes appointments on Friday after four, and when Admiral Cain laments that she can't just decide not to schedule a meeting because Admiral Kazansky has something better to do, she laughs and writes a long ass email to tell him, in very polite words, sorry, no can do. Fuck you.
The next Friday, Maverick leaves a muffin with her favourite coffee and pats her back before closing the door behind his back. They are out of the office in ten minutes, laughing and holding hands in front of her, for the first time.

When Iceman met Maverick
Mav knocks loudly at Ice's front door in the night before the Suicide Mission. Ice groggily opens the door in his fluffy checkered bathrobe, grey hair perfectly in place despite just waking up. He glares groggily at Maverick who is breathless and windswept still in his dress whites looking like he has hasn't slept and has instead run a mile from the beach to his house. Before he can say anything, Maverick exclaims:
Mav: "Tom, I love you."
Ice: [Ice sighs] "I'm sorry, Maverick. I know it's the eve of the Uranium Mission. I know you're feeling lonely, but you just can't show up here, tell me you love me after all these years, and expect that to make everything all right. It doesn't work this way."
Mav: "I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out despite your callsign being Iceman. I love that it takes you an hour and a half after ordering a Vodka to finally drink it all down in one go right before you leave the bar. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me annoyed after I pissed off yet another Admiral. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your cologne on my clothes. And I love that I can always count on you to watch my wing in the air and on the ground. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because I might die tomorrow. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life, no matter how little of it you may have left, to start as soon as possible."
Ice: [Stares at Maverick in shock] "… Pete"
Mav: [Takes off his hat and drops down on one knee in front of Ice's big yard] "Marry me."

Because of a conversation that I was in earlier I can’t stop thinking about this scene 🥹🩷.
Tim looking at Hawk with those big brown eyes and so happy and Hawk just asking “what?” And Tim going “it’s feels like we are on a date” 🥹
Hawk mentioning that he may make a pass. Them flirting even after all these years just 😭
Then after going outside to meet Tim after telling off Dave and apologizing. Tim giving his big beautiful and moving speech. “You were my great, consuming love. I have no regrets” and Hawk kissing him 🥹.
“Would you look at that? Out in public and the world didn’t come to an end” Tim teasing Hawk a little bit, but Tim was so happy and in love and finally got what he wanted after all of these years. All he wanted was public affection from Hawk and he finally got it 😭🩷
I know this scene and episode ends with Tim telling Hawk to go home, but they were still so in love.
My heart still breaks that Hawk wanted to stay, but it was too late.
They loved each other.. Beyond Measure 🥹🥹
