Say Goodbye To Acne Scars And Unlock Clear Skin
Acne scars can be a frustrating reminder of past breakouts, but fear not! With the proper skincare routine and the power of niacinamide, retinol, azelaic acid, and AHA/BHA, you can fade those scars and achieve the clear skin you've always desired. In this article, we'll explore how these incredible ingredients work their magic and provide you with an easy-to-follow routine for achieving optimal results.
Niacinamide: The Skin's Best Friend
Niacinamide, also known as vitamin B3, is a superstar ingredient when it comes to fading acne scars. This potent antioxidant helps reduce inflammation, regulate sebum production, and improve skin texture. Incorporate a niacinamide serum into your routine to reap its benefits. Apply a few drops after cleansing and before moisturizing for maximum effectiveness.
Retinol: The Holy Grail Of Skincare
Retinol, derived from vitamin A, is a game-changer for acne scars and overall skin health. This ingredient boosts collagen production, speeds up cell turnover, and reduces hyperpigmentation. Start with a low-concentration retinol product and gradually increase usage to avoid irritation. Apply it at night, after cleansing, and before moisturizing, and always wear sunscreen during the day, as retinol can increase sun sensitivity.
Azelaic Acid: The Brightening Warrior
Azelaic acid is a multitasking ingredient that not only fades acne scars but also helps with redness, hyperpigmentation, and acne itself. This gentle exfoliant unclogs pores, reduces inflammation, and brightens the skin. Look for a 10-20% concentration product and apply it after cleansing, followed by moisturizer. Remember to patch test first to ensure compatibility with your skin.
AHA/BHA: The Dynamic Duo
Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) are exfoliating powerhouses that work wonders on acne scars. AHAs, such as glycolic acid, help fade scars by gently removing dead skin cells and promoting cell turnover. BHAs, like salicylic acid, penetrate deeper into the pores, reducing inflammation and preventing future breakouts. Incorporate these acids into your routine 2-3 times a week, starting with a lower concentration and gradually increasing as your skin adjusts.
In Conclusion
Achieving clear skin and fading acne scars is within your reach with the help of niacinamide, retinol, azelaic acid, and AHA/BHA. Remember to introduce these ingredients gradually into your routine and always patch-test new products. Consistency is vital, so be patient and give your skin time to adjust. Embrace this powerful skincare routine, and soon enough, you'll be saying goodbye to acne scars and hello to a radiant, flawless complexion!

How to find your skin type
Tumblr media
Finding your skin type is one of the most important factors when building your skin care routine. There are different skin types and choosing products that fit your skin is very important. Each skin type has a different need so finding products that work for your skin will make all the difference.
The five main types are normal, oily, dry, combination, and sensitive.
Normal skin is skin that is balanced. It is neither oily, dry, or sensitive.
Oily skin produces an excess of sebum. If you have oily skin it can feel shiny and greasy. Oily skin can sometimes leave your pores clogged or congested.
Dry skin can feel tight and dry. Dry skin is the opposite of oily skin, your skin does not have enough oil.
Combination skin is skin that is both oily and dry. Usually the T-Zone (forehead, nose, and chin) are the most oily parts of the skin and the cheeks are the dry areas of the skin.
Sensitive skin is less about how the skin looks and more about how the skin feels. Sensitive skin is more vulnerable to external irritants and different ingredients in skin care products can irritate your skin.
So how do you find your skin type? There are two main methods of finding your skin type: the bare-faced method and the blotting sheet method.
The Bare-Faced Method
To use this method, start by washing your face with a gentle cleanser and gently pat your skin dry. After cleansing, wait 30 minutes and then observe your skin. If your skin is feeling tight and there are dry patches, your skin is dry. If your skin is oily and shiny you have oily skin. If the shine is only in your T-Zone, you probably have combination skin. If your skin is feeling irritated you probably have sensitive skin. If your skin feels comfortable then you have normal skin.
The Blotting Sheet Method
The next method that you can use to find your skin type is the blotting sheet method. To use this method, take a piece of blotting paper and gently pat the different areas of your skin and hold the sheet up to the light to see how much oil it has absorbed. If the sheet is soaked in oily skin, you most likely have oily skin. If there is no oil left over on the sheet, then you have dry skin. If there is only oil on the spots that you used to wipe your T-Zone, you most likely have combination or normal skin.
Now that you have found your skin type it will be easier to choose products that are a right fit for you and will help improve your skin.

a hair cleansing hack I wish I’d found sooner
I have oily hair. Like my skin finding a great cleanser is both trial and error. I discovered this product by accident. I got a free sample of dpHue’s apple cider vinegar hair scrub with an eye cream and I’m so glad I did. dpHUE ACV hair scrub has become one of my new fav products. I love how it cleanses leaving my hair feeling refreshed but doesn’t strip it of the natural oil causing it to feel dry.
I was skeptical when I first opened the sample. I could already see myself in 5 minutes wondering how to get all the salt rinsed out of my hair along with how to get rid of the vinegar smell. I could already picture myself regretting trying it but I was feeling adventurous and wanted to try something new. To my surprise it smelt really good and helped exfoliate my scalp without irritation. I tried the other half of the sample the next time I washed my hair and after the I was hooked. I loved it! My hair had a new shine to it, felt happier, and lighter!
I wish I had found this product sooner!! It has completely changed my expectation for any other hair cleansing product I try from here on out <3

Hydrate your skin with PHA
Polyhydroxy acids work by gently removing dead skin cells, promoting cell turnover, and improving skin texture and tone. Additionally, PHAs possess humectant properties, attracting and retaining moisture in the skin, resulting in enhanced hydration and a plump, youthful appearance. Moreover, their larger molecular size allows for slower penetration into the skin, reducing the likelihood of irritation. In conclusion, incorporating polyhydroxy acids into skincare routines can provide gentle exfoliation, hydration, and overall skin rejuvenation, making them a valuable addition to any skincare regimen.

Identifying Your Skin Type
Here’s a quick guide to help you identify your unique skin type so that you can give it the care and attention it needs.
Knowing your skin type is the most important step in achieving healthy, glowing skin at any age. Identifying your individual skin type can help you choose the right products and treatments to make sure that your skin looks its best.
Tumblr media
Normal Skin Types: Normal skin types generally have an even balance of oil and moisture, with a smooth texture and few visible pores or blemishes. If you have normal skin, you should use a gentle cleanser, light moisturizer, and SPF protection every day to keep your complexion looking its best.
Oily Skin Types: If your face feels greasy after washing it or if you experience frequent breakouts, then it’s likely that you have oily skin. To keep oiliness under control, look for ingredients like salicylic acid, retinol, and clay-based masks in your skincare routine. Make sure to cleanse twice daily with an oil-free product and apply a lightweight moisturizer with SPF protection when needed.
Dry Skin Types: If your face feels tight after washing it or if it often appears flaky or irritated then there’s a good chance that you have dry skin. When choosing skincare products for dry skin types, look for ingredients such as hyaluronic acid which helps draw moisture into the deeper layers of the epidermis (the outermost layer of the skin).
You should also avoid cleansing too frequently as this can strip away natural oils which are essential for keeping dryness at bay. Look for heavier creams or ointments in place of lotions and serums; these products provide extra hydration while still absorbing quickly into the skin without leaving behind residue or a greasy feel. Finally, always use an SPF 30 or higher daily to protect against sun damage which could further worsen dryness over time.
Characteristics of Sensitive Skin:
Redness: Sensitive skin may exhibit redness, especially in response to environmental triggers or skincare products.
Irritation: Sensitive skin is easily irritated by various factors, including harsh ingredients, fragrances, and weather conditions.
Tightness: Sensitive skin often feels tight or uncomfortable, particularly after cleansing or exposure to irritants.
Dryness: Sensitive skin can be prone to dryness and flakiness, especially if not properly moisturized.
Allergies: Individuals with sensitive skin may be more prone to allergic reactions, such as rashes or hives, when exposed to certain substances.
Tips for Caring for Sensitive Skin:
Use Gentle Products: Opt for skincare products specifically formulated for sensitive skin, free of harsh ingredients like fragrances, alcohol, and sulfates.
Patch Test: Before applying new skincare products to your face, perform a patch test on a small area of skin to check for any adverse reactions.
Avoid Over-Exfoliation: Limit the use of exfoliating products, as they can exacerbate sensitivity. Opt for gentle exfoliants and use them sparingly.
Moisturize Regularly: Keep your skin hydrated with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer suitable for sensitive skin. Apply moisturizer immediately after cleansing to lock in hydration.
Protect from Sun Exposure: Shield your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays by wearing sunscreen daily. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and reapply regularly, especially if spending time outdoors.
Practice Gentle Cleansing: Cleanse your skin with a mild, non-foaming cleanser that effectively removes impurities without stripping away natural oils. Avoid hot water and harsh scrubbing, which can further irritate sensitive skin.
Be Mindful of Environmental Triggers: Minimize exposure to environmental factors that can trigger sensitivity, such as extreme temperatures, pollution, and harsh weather conditions.
Manage Stress: Stress can exacerbate skin sensitivity, so incorporate stress-relieving practices like meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises into your daily routine.
Consult a Dermatologist: If you're struggling to manage sensitive skin or experiencing persistent irritation, consult a dermatologist for personalized advice and treatment options.
By following these tips and adopting a gentle skincare routine tailored to sensitive skin, you can help soothe irritation, reduce redness, and promote a healthier, more comfortable complexion.
Tumblr media
Once you know what type of skin you have, it will be much easier to find effective products and treatments tailored specifically for your needs—but don’t forget about lifestyle changes too! Eating healthy foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids like fish oil supplements can help boost overall health from within; getting enough sleep; drinking plenty of water; taking regular breaks from technology; exercising regularly; and finding ways to reduce stress are all key components to any successful skincare routine regardless of age or skin type!
