Thinking more obikin thoughts,,,,

(I should make this a series at this point aknsksns)

Anyway in a fix it universe where padme and Anakin are just besties, and Obi-Wan promised Anakin that after the war they could do whatever they want (comic compliant that's right),,, we arrive to completely-oblivious-of-his-feelings!Anakin & trying-to-woo-your-former-padawan!Obiwan combo 👀

Obi-Wan trying to give Anakin presents and bring him out on dates all over the galaxy, keeping his arm always around Anakin's waist and being affectionate,,,, all of this and Anakin, while drinking it up like a sponge, just doesn't get it. He thinks Obi-Wan is being affectionate because the war is over and after their last almost-death situation the council just doesn't care to reprimand about their obvious attachment anymore.

All of this is resolved, impossibly, by anonymous fanmail. The Jedi (even if they survived in this scenario) took a mighty blow on their public imagine with all the subtle propaganda Palpatine sprouted about them so they are trying to reply to the galaxy concerns and misconceptions about them. All jedi who are knights and masters are eligible for this fan mail stunt and the more famous they are the more of it they get.

Anakin gets a lot of fanmail where they gush about his and Obi-Wan romantic relationship and while at the start he's totally dumbfounded about it, the more they cite things he and Obi-Wan have been doing in these last few months (and years, let's be honest) the more he being (unknowingly) in a relationship with Obi-Wan makes sense. He gets his freak out with padme (who thought they were just being discreet and smacks some good sense into Anakin) and so for the next outing Obi-Wan organises for them, Anakin tries to up the game to see how Obi-Wan responds,,,, and Obi-Wan is Enthusiastic™ about it (poor man was going mad thinking he was doing something Wrong and now all of a sudden Anakin begins to initiate,, some more encouraging touches so he's Ecstatic).

Just think: them going on romantic dates for months, but with no kisses, Obi-Wan staying patient because he knows Anakin has never done this before but getting progressively more depressed thinking he may have interpreted this wrong, and then out of the blue Anakin kisses him after their date. Obi-Wan mind is blown. Man is going to worship is boy now that he has the all clear lmao

(even funnier is thinking about Obi-Wan pestering other jedi about it and getting smashed while crying that Anakin maybe changes his mind. Quinlan just drops him into his apartment and vows to never ask about Anakin again while Obi-Wan drinks: it only gets him Obi-Wan dirty old man rants or his infinite sadness rants. No in between).

Even more hilarious is the fanmail being explicit at some point (everyone says to Anakin that he must be enjoying Obi-Wan big dick energy so much) and Anakin first thought is be offended that ppl would think of him as the bottom - and then getting turned on by the thought of being fucked into incoherence by Obi-Wan. Classical Anakin behaviour Mr."I want to be in control" and then having a meltdown the second he gets the supposed control he wanted. Poor boy just needs to be fucked pliant and he'll be good.

Anyway, that's it. My 1 am obikin thoughts strike again.

omg superhero n journalist au is so cute!!!!!!!! I literally just laughed out loud thinking about superhero anakin, constantly being suspicious about this adorable journalist man, being on sharp guard whenever obiwan does smth suspicious in his eyes, but then becoming a little sad in the next moment bc obiwan was actually so hot and he really enjoyed the man's occasional company, but then this cinnamon roll looking man HAD TO BE A VILLAIN! IT'S SO UNFAIR! it’s like the entire thing could probably be solved if obi-wan was a little less oblivious about handsome mechanic being hot superhero AND if he was a little less embarrassed about having a childish crush on hot superhero because his entire deflection routine is incredibly suspicious to anakin who already suspects him because he’s being all shifty and in and around crime scenes when anakin looked him up and his usual beat is politics around the city’s Capitol area!!

but anakin is not immune to the cute handsome journalist man who flirts with him and brings him coffee when he works on his car so of course he becomes his cute handsome journalist boyfriend….better to keep an eye on his surely villainous ways while anakin conducts his own investigation into obi-wan kenobi, journalist, who keeps acting all shifty and defensive when anakin brings up vader

obi-wan, for his part, would really just like to have a relationship with handsome hot mechanic without having to talk about or admit to his stupid childish crush on superhero Vader 😣

Ok ok ok I love your answers to headcanon-y asks so what about an au where anakin & padme are bffs but because anakin often sneaks out at night to visit her Obi-wan is worried they’re in a relationship (it wouldn’t be obikin without misunderstanding!) Anyway one evening padme cajoles anakin into letting her put make up on him- just some mascara, blush, lipgloss (anakin finds himself strangely into it???) but in the middle anakin gets an urgent comm from Obiwan that they’re being sent offworld

immediately to deal with a diplomatic incident... ofc anakin forgets to remove the makeup before rushing to the temple hangar... Obi wan, staring at his padawan, trying to figure out why he looks different: 🧐😧😳 Anakin, oblivious, pouting and blinking big long lashed eyes at him: yes, master? Is something wrong, master? Master? 🥺🥺🥺

I burst into laughter reading this and scared my cat 🤣 sorry, Precious. My bad.

Yet another thing I wish I could draw, because it would be adorable!

First off, I love the idea of angsty and jealous Obi-Wan noticing Anakin sneaking out and visiting Padmé. Of course, he wouldn't realize it's jealousy he's feeling—not at first—so he'd explain it away, rationalize the feeling to himself.

He's just worried about his friend. What if the senator breaks his heart? And what about his future, his oath? There's a traitorous little voice that nags at the back of his mind, whispering, if Anakin leaves the Order, he's also leaving you. He tells himself it doesn't matter anyway, because he is a Jedi, and regardless of whatever decision Anakin makes, he will have to let him go.

It's with this mindset that he calls Anakin back to his duties. Reluctant, because the part of him that believes Anakin might be better off, that wants him to seek happiness wherever he finds it, feels bad for depriving him of the rare and fleeting moments he gets with Padmé. But he's also relieved, because yes, perhaps there is also a part of him that covets Anakin's time and attention and wants him to choose the Order, to choose him. The latter is a menace, however, so he elects to ignore it.

Obi-Wan is standing in the hangar brooding over all of this when Anakin finally runs in, disheveled and a little breathless. His mind immediately flashes through a dozen scenarios that would cause his former padawan to be in such a state, bringing a hint of color to his own cheeks as well as a spike of irritation he can't quite suppress. So he says, maybe with a little more snark than strictly necessary, “So good of you to join us,” and is about to storm off toward the ship when Anakin grabs his arm.

“Master, are you alright?”

Obi-Wan sighs and turns back to Anakin, another retort at the tip of his tongue, and that's when he notices the thin line of kohl ringing Anakin’s eyes. The rouge staining his already-flushed cheeks a darker shade. The crimson of his lips. And his mind just... Blanks.

Anakin is beautiful on a normal day. One must be blind not to see it, and even Jedi are not immune to such aesthetic perfection. But the way the makeup highlights his features—sculpts his cheekbones and sharp jaw, emphasizes his pretty pout and the dark, full lashes surrounding those brilliant, emotive eyes—leaves him utterly speechless. Gaping like a landed fish.

It's embarrassing, really.

To make matters worse, Anakin is growing obviously concerned. He prods at their bond, and when he doesn't receive an answer, begins checking Obi-Wan's body over for injuries, and Obi-Wan has never missed his robes so keenly than in that moment because suddenly he doesn't know what to do with his hands and would very much like to hide them in his sleeves.

It takes a hard slap on the back from a grinning Cody as he passes the duo by to finally snap him out of it.

Obi-Wan returns that knowing smirk with a glare and hustles onto the ship, Anakin trailing at his heels, still nagging him with, “What’s wrong? Has something happened?” and, “Obi-Wan, are you hurt?” until, reaching the limits of his patience, Obi-Wan drags Anakin into his quarters, marches him over to the ’fresher, and tells him to look at himself.

Realization slowly dawns on Anakin’s face, his worry shifting to horror. “I-I can explain—”

“By all means, Anakin”—Obi-Wan chuckles, smirk hidden behind his hand—“please enlighten me. Were you planning on distracting the Separatists, or seducing them?”

Though it's petty of him and he shouldn't relish Anakin's awkwardness so much, this teasing is common for them and the familiarity eases the strain upon his yearning heart somewhat.

Anakin scowls and meets the eyes of his reflection as a series of emotions flicker across his face. Eventually, his expression settles on curious, which is always dangerous when it comes to Anakin. Obi-Wan stifles a groan and tenses, internally preparing himself for more of Anakin’s relentless pestering.

It’s uncomfortably clear just how little room there is for two grown men in the tiny ’fresher when, at length, Anakin turns to face him—and how he manages to be taller yet still look up through those long lashes is surely one of the galaxy's greatest mysteries—and now Obi-Wan is really beginning to regret all of his life choices.

Then, so close Obi-Wan feels the heat of his breath like a caress, Anakin murmurs, “Not the Separatists, no.”

Later, on the bridge...

“Excuse me, sir?”

Lost in his thoughts, it takes a moment for Obi-Wan to realize he's being addressed. “Apologies, Captain. You were saying?”

Mouth twitching like he's holding back a smile, Rex says, “You've got a little something...” and points to a red, lip-shaped stain on Obi-Wan's collar.

★ I just rewatched the first rdj Sherlock movie and there's a scene where Holmes is in a restaurant and we can see him getting overwhelmed by all he sees/feels/hears ("what do you see?" "everything. It is my curse") when suddenly Watson calls his name and everything suddenly quietens, he becomes his only focal point. And I sorta imagine the eldritch Anakin you wrote in some of your Balance chapters to work that way too, with Obi-Wan being the only thing that helps having the rest of the world fall away when he gets constantly overwhelmed by all the force inputs he constantly gets (and are worse because he lives in a temple full of Jedi). So sorry this got verbose lol but I would really like if you wrote something about that if you want!

okay so IF this was a thing i imagine it would mostly be out in the city proper and anakin would find it a bit strange as a child. mostly just think of missing and put on scents as a cold, fake thing about coruscant and large busy planets in general where tatooine was warm and real and intimate. i imagine he’d feel this way about a lot of things in the transition to padawan life/at that age!

and when he starts tying scent to romantic and sexual feelings i imagine he would get even more of a sense of people getting de-scented (idk what else to call it lmao) as a waste of a natural and potentially appealing part of human allure. he would be indifferent to it with regards to strangers but the idea of his loved ones doing or feeling the need to do it would probably make him upset. as for perfume scents i think by that age he would notice them easily and wouldn’t mind most of them but would vastly prefer just like. natural or minimal scent when it comes to people he’s close to.

i DO think anakin would use noxious teen boy deodorant/scented spray. my reasons for this are mostly that i think it would be really funny and fit his personality as an older padawan and a knight (obstinate little shithead pretty boy). but he would probably mainly do it to compensate for not showering.

i think he would adapt to the expected amount of washing pretty quickly as per obiwan’s/general temple life expectations. especially because he would pick up on how harshly he gets judged and not want to have one more thing to get scolded about. he probably wouldn’t clean himself as thoroughly as possible because he doesn’t care that much. by the time he’s old enough to have BO i imagine he would probably care about not upsetting people with it for similar reasons. i don’t think he would ever be oblivious about smelling bad but i think as a teen he wouldn’t be in the mood to shower just to appease other people, or he would be so caught up in his own drama and intense emotions that self-care and hygiene just wouldn’t be his priority. so this is where the axe/lynx/old spice equivalent comes in- he would deal with it by covering it up with overbearing Cool Boy Scent as a compromise. like he would definitely be the type rewear a robe that smelled and just douse it in spray imo

Ok but can we continue the omegaverse headcanon train of thought! How many times do you think people have mistaken anakin & Obiwan as mates? Imagine the team being sent off on a diplomatic mission & Obi-wan has a Bad Feeling about it & then when they arrive on the planet the inhabitants think they’re mated & idk the Reasons but it would cause a huge political incident if Obiwan were to correct them so he just doesn’t. Meanwhile anakin is completely oblivious to the fact that this is going on

this is shamelessly one of my favorite obikin tropes. i'm not usually a fan of like, fake dating of any kind but with obikin it just works SO well when you pair it with a crucial mission.

but yes, YES. i love the idea of obi-wan kind of cringing when it's implied (poor anakin having no idea why obi-wan is hitting him with the 'dearest' more than usual. not that he's complaining, though) but also when anyone compliments obi-wan's 'capable, quite pretty companion' he's just... pride. a little bit of possession. the yearning shows. sometimes pretending hits a little too close to home.

thankfully their relationship is intimate and close enough that they pass as a couple without obi-wan having to give too much away, but it's inevitable that anakin catches on. he is, unfortunately for obi-wan at this moment, entirely too smart for his own good. do you think anakin pulls obi-wan aside and just teases him about it? or like, INSISTS that they "practice" being a better couple? ("master, i think you should put your hand around my waist - a little lower - right there." "when you say goodbye at any time you can kiss my cheek") <3

New chapter of a more perfect union was just amazing!!!!! I love these two miscommunicating idiots where one is oblivious as hell (seriously, Ani), and one is just constantly depressed lol. They should definitely go to Dex's again after they finally sort out their feeling, so that they can make up for all the lost double-sized fries with triple-sized fries. And some milkshakes.

when two characters insist they know each other more than anyone could ever know anyone else ever in the galaxy and they still get each other’s words so easily messed up….🥰 because the one thing that is fundamental to their partner is their love for them and it’s the one thing that they don’t realize…..and it impacts so many of their words and actions 🥰🥰

like if anakin knew obi-wan loved him as much as he did and in the way he did, he would understand so much more about what obiwan isn’t saying and if anakin understood that he loved obi-wan, he would definitely understand more about his own thoughts (the dummy)

so the last chapter is just clearing all that up and then anakin being struck around the head multiple times with retroactive evidence that wow??? obi-wan?? Loved him?? Always loved him??? He is loved by obi-wan??? in a marriage way ??

I am... Really starting to get tired of "oblivious character" jokes. This isn't even from a specific fandom at this point I'm tired in EVERY fandom.

Like there's something to be said that there are things a character doesn't notice, though generally there are extenuating circumstances (not properly socialized as a kid, the thing they are being oblivious about is technically something that is trying to be hidden, there's nothing to be oblivious to fans are picking up on narrative subtext that either doesn't exist or is only supposed to be observed by the audience not within the text). Like sometimes characters miss things in conversation or aren't in touch with their own emotions!! That's true!! But y'all drag it so far down to the point where it is exhausting i stg.

Especially when you take a character who might rightfully not be super aware of two characters being interested in each other, but then extrapolate that to they are oblivious to everything when like, that doesn't even make sense. Y'all have started doing it to people with literal super powers where there whole thing is awareness. It doesn't even make sense!!

Also some characters and people just don't have the same thought processes... And it's getting kinda sketch the way some people treat characters that are written explicitly or coded to be seeing the world differently
