Alright, I'm finally typing it out. Gather around, all, for the tale of the time my friends and I kidnapped a blueberry and drug them into the Vault of Glass.
Once upon a time, I used to have friends I would play Destiny 2 with regularly. None of them that feature in this story still do, to my knowledge, but at the time we were pretty cracked on the PvE side of things. At the time, we were raiding semi-regularly (when schedules lined up), and as Vault of Glass had just been added to D2 recently, it was our raid of choice that one, fateful evening.
We, like any sane PC player, were using Discord for comms, and so I had hopped into the channel to wait, and headed to the Cosmodrome for my favorite time-killing passtime - blueberry watching. For those of you unfamiliar, blueberries is an affectionate term for new destiny players, named after the color of the low rarity gear they end up decked out in, blue. The Cosmodrome, being the first public area a New Light ends up in, is often a place where you can see adorable new players getting the hang of things.
At this time, the voice channel began to fill up, and one of my compatriots joined my fireteam. We initiated some hug emotes with a blueberry and were just all-in-all chilling when we got word that one member of our team would be unable to join us. Then someone (I forget who) suggested 'hey, what if we took this blueberry along with us?'. It was a patently absurd option - we had no communication with them. Their mishmash of blue armor and crappy weapons would clearly be outclassed by the raid, leaving them unable to damage enemies and likely to die instantly if any of the vex even looked in their direction. But we started to plan a bit - really, we could do every encounter with just 5 people. We'd have to protect the blueberry, but that could be done, theoretically.
I think, in the end, we came to the conclusion that we'd try it, but they weren't likely to stick through it. After all, we weren't (and never did) using the in-game VC, or text chat. The two of us hanging out with them in the Cosmodrome sent a fireteam invite. And the blueberry accepted. So we joined the rest of the team in orbit, and launched Vault of Glass.
I could go into our specific strategies for each encounter, but for the most part it was pretty same-y. We'd use emotes and shooting to get the blueberry into a defensible position, then 5-man the encounter. And somehow, this worked. I have taught many, many people many raids in my time (including many people from this friend group!), and I have never seen someone pick up so quickly on what we needed them to do. With no actual words passing! An absolute, biggest-brained legend of a guardian.
We did get this guy all the way to Aetheon. And with some tricks (and good RNG), we were able to even defeat Aetheon. With some random blueberry nobody knew, or talked to! Unfortunately, they didn't get Mythoclast (can you imagine, though!), but they did celebrate with us with their default dance emote, and we all went our seperate ways. Nobody friended them, we just re-released them into the Cosmodrome like they hadn't just helped us save all of time or whatever the point of Vault of Glass is.
Now, perhaps this was a returning player, or someone on a new alt, who already kinda or entirely knew what was going on. But there's no real way of knowing, and it's just as (if not more) likely that this was a brand new player. Can you imagine what kind of a 'first experience' that new player had with the game? How puzzlingly odd to begin with, developing into concern as the activity we brought them to was clearly beyond them, to the 'fuck it we ball' attitude to stick with it all the way through. A true champion.
And imagine the lore perspective too. Fresh guardian, still got gravesoil in their armor, hasn't been to the tower yet, and they get scooped up into the Vault of Glass? Battle Aetheon? AND WIN!? The reaction from Shaw, or hell, the Vanguard as a whole would be amazing. Our guardians getting reprimanded for taking some fresh new light and dragging them through such a crazy difficult experience they weren't prepared for. Fun stuff to think about.
I wonder how that player is doing now. If they still play, how this particular experience flavored their perception of the game and its community. I know the community at large can be extremely toxic (and worse), but I still strive to embody the community impression we made on that day. Patience and Understanding, being goofy and silly about it, inclusive and kind. Dunno, maybe that's just me being sappy about a fun memory with friends gone by.

Secret Recipe (Lucy Bronze x Reader)
Tumblr media
Another fic LFG!!!!!! This was requested by the anon who asked for a Lucy x Secret wife chef reader. Hope this is what you wanted! Got a Katie McCabe fic next. As always, any feedback good or bad welcomed! Enjoy!
Word Count: 1.3K (LFG!!!!)
For years now whenever Lucy came to camp she would have lots of packed lunches to fend off her hunger. The girls sometimes gave her a hard time about it, but for the most part, they don’t think too much about it most of the time. That is until one day Keira missed the served lunch due to a meeting. Keira was really starting to get hungry, but all the food was gone and they had training again soon so it’s not like she could make a quick sandwich or something. Then, Lucy became Keira’s saviour when she shoved a brown paper bag at her. At first, Keira was confused, but then it dawned on her that it was the same type of bag that Lucy always brought her packed lunches in. She gratefully grabbed the bag mumbling out a thanks before eagerly ripped open the bag. The team had never seen Keira so excited about food before. It was a mixture of her own hunger and curiosity as to what was in the bag that fueled Keira as she devoured the contents of the bag. In the bag, there was a container of what Lucy called burrito bowl. After each bite, Keira would let out a satisfied sound, a sound that had all the other girls giggling at her. She was too in love with the food to care.
“If you were eating this right now, you’d be making these noises too,” she tries to defend herself as everyone keeps laughing.
“Is it good?” Georgia asks.
“Unbelievably good,” Keria says, shovelling more food into her mouth.
“Wait, wait how is it really good? Lucy sucks at cooking,” Lucy goes to protest, but Millie keeps on talking, “Don’t even deny it Luce, there’s no way you could make something Keira likes that much.”
For the rest of camp, Lucy gets bombarded with questions on how she’s getting these packed lunches. The team just cannot seem to figure it out.
“Maybe she buys them?”
“No, no they’re definitely not bought, she brings them in like plastic containers.”
“What if she gets her mum to make them?”
“Nope, her mum lives too far away for that.”
“What if she’s got like a deal with a mob boss, so they make her lunch in exchange for her to keep her mouth shut.”
Everyone really seems to like the last idea Rachael suggested. Lucy just rolls her eyes at their silliness.
“Well, you’re all wrong. What if I actually do make them all by myself?” She remarks. Everyone makes disbelieving noises.
“There’s absolutely no way you can make food that good and that often,” Georgia says. Lucy did have to concede that one, it was a well-known fact that Lucy could make a decent meal every once and a while, but every day? No way.
On the last night of camp, Lucy decides to Facetime you, she had told you about the incident, and you actually found it really hilarious. As she was telling you about their latest ideas you can’t help but let out a little snort,
“They think you have a deal with the mafia?” You say while trying to hold back your laughter.
“Yep, they’re so dumb. And also, do I really seem like someone involved with the mafia?”
“I mean, you do kinda give off those vibes, love.” The look of betrayal on Lucy’s face has you in stitches.
“You better stop laughing Y/N. I would hate for you to be offed by a mob boss,” she says with a grin.
You guys continue to talk for a bit when you ask her about something that had been nagging you for a bit.
“Why don’t you just tell them about us?” The question was very out of the blue so, it caught Lucy off guard.
“What do you mean?”
“Why don’t you just tell them that you’re married and that your wife makes your lunches and everything? Why keep it a secret anymore? They’re going to figure it out soon.” You weren’t mad at her, you were just curious as to why she never wanted to tell the team about you guys.
“I don’t know babe. It’s just easier. Plus, if I told them about you, they’d definitely want to meet you,” she sighs.
“I’d love to meet them.”
“I’m not sure if you would, they can be very…overbearing,” Lucy warns you.
“Come on Luce. I spend like twelve hours a day overlooking a kitchen and dealing with other peoples’ problems as if I’m their mom. I’m sure I can handle twenty footballers,” you say confidently.
“Okay, then. How about I invite them over for dinner in a couple of days? I’m sure they’d love for you to cook for them,” Luce suggests. You nod happily, excited at the prospect of finally meeting all of Lucy’s friends.
When Lucy invites the team over the next day she gets a lot of excited murmurs and questions on whether she was cooking or not. She’s seen the girls loud, but it was something else when she told them that her wife would be cooking. After announcing that, she very swiftly made her exit.
As the first Lionesses make their way inside you and Lucy’s house, they can’t believe all the pictures of you and her.
“This is her, right?” Lotte says as she points at a photo of you and Lucy on your wedding day.
“Yup, that’s Y/N,” Lucy says with a proud smile.
“She’s really pretty.” Everyone snickers at the glare Lucy gives to Lotte. “Is she in the kitchen?” Lucy nods and shows them the way.
You look up when you hear loud voices carry into the kitchen. Wiping your hands off, you make your way around the island to meet everybody.
“This is Y/N, my wife,” Lucy introduces you. You hear a chorus of “Hi Y/N”s. You give them all a warm smile before they start banging out questions,
“So you guys are married?”
“How long have you been married?”
“Why didn’t we know about you sooner?”
“Are you actually a cook?”
“Do you own a restaurant?”
“What’s your favourite dish to make?”
So, you make all of Lucy’s lunches then?”
You are a bit surprised, but you compose yourself and answer all their questions,
“Yup, we’re married and have been for five years now. After we got married we just thought it easier to keep it on the down-low so we could focus on our careers. I am actually a chef, and I run Midsummer House which has two Michelin stars and is in Cambridge. At the restaurant we always make lots of fancy dishes, but sometimes I just like making pepperoni pizza. Yes, I make all of Lucy’s lunches for camp.”
As the night progresses, you can understand why Lucy likes going to national team camp so much, everyone is extremely kind to you and there is lots of banter and telling stories that you haven’t heard yet. You get a number of compliments on the food you had prepared for dinner. Rachael starts complaining about how it’s unfair that only Lucy gets your packed lunches. You laugh stating that something could be arranged for the team. This gets everyone very excited and makes it a little harder to get everyone out of the house after. All in all, it was a pretty successful first time meeting the Lionesses. As you clean up the dishes, you feel someone’s arms wrap around you from behind.
“Everything was delicious, love,” Lucy whispers into your ear.
“You liked it? It was a new recipe,” you reply, still washing some things.
“Mhm, it was very good,” you turn around in her arms and give her a kiss. She sighs into the kiss before pulling away and helping with the clean up.
The next camp, everyone is ecstatic when you show up to St. George’s Park with twenty-three packed lunches and a big smile.

your last night together ended on a bad note, and now you’re back after months to explain yourself
pairings: george russell x fem!reader
warnings: cussing
notes: ooooh wrote this at like 3am lfg!! i also started to obsess about alex albon?? yoooo that man is so fine i swear to god…
(sex) // (be mine)
Tumblr media
it’s not all that different — not seeing you every couple of days like he used to.
george, however, does let you cross his mind a couple times a week when he’s not busy. it’s usually when he’s left in a corner with his thoughts. the way your eyes looked into his and how your dimples would show before your smile consumed him in a way he couldn’t describe.
he realised about a week after he last saw you that alex knew about your prior arrangement. alex didn’t elaborate on anything, simply just let george know that he was aware.
your name never came up in conversation again.
well, once when lily came to visit during a race weekend and was wondering why you refused to attend. and the girl did also question why george has been looking so upset in the recent days. all he could do was exchange a glance with alex and come up with a pathetic excuse.
sometimes he thinks he’s seen your face in the crowd by the paddocks, but it’s always just his imagination. so when he looked around the paddock 30 minutes ago and thought he had heard your voice, he simply brushed it off as another one of his delusions.
until he saw you again. not once, but four more times.
he’s not going crazy, is he?
george quickly rules out insanity when he sees you a fifth time in the williams garage having a conversation with logan. and you look good; perhaps the best he has ever seen you.
not to say that you looked bad before. there’s just a different glow to you that he can’t seem to figure out.
it was when logan greeted him with the call of his name and a wave that made you whirl your head around to finally look at him.
surprisingly, you do acknowledge his presence. you smile widely at him and give him a simple wave. and then your turn back around to continue your conversation.
george just walks away. he contemplated coming up to you and having a chat, but with the way things had ended that night, he decided it was better off.
meanwhile, your heart races in your chest as you resume your conversation with logan. you knew the repercussions of tagging along but you clearly hadn’t figured out completely how to face him.
you promised yourself, a few days prior, that you were ready to face george despite everything. you didn’t have it all mapped out like you had promised alex, but you can’t admit that to him.
at this point, you find yourself straying from the once engaging chat with logan. george is what took over your brain.
it seems that he took the hint as he pats your shoulder and bids you goodbye, claiming that he has some marketing activity to do.
you have thought of george in times of separation. it’s hard not to when he’s practically everywhere — your social media timelines, alex’s story and advertisements. it’s impossible to erase him from your life.
which is why you really tried to get it together while you were gone.
but the privilege of figuring out what to finally say to george will never come, it seems, as lily takes logan’s spot. she puts her hands on her hips and glares at you sternly.
“when are you going to talk to him?” lily questions with an eyebrow raise. “the day is almost over.”
you look down at your hands to avoid her intense stare. “i don’t know what to say to him… i gave him some bullshit excuse the last time i saw him.”
you hear lily sigh. you watch her take a step to lean on the wall. “and you came with us this weekend to finally debunk everything,” she reminds you slowly in hopes to keep you in check. “he won’t stay single forever, you know.”
“i know.” you lift your head up to showcase your frown. “but how can he still want this if i’d told him that the nights we spent together meant nothing to me?”
“i don’t know, but neither will you if you don’t talk to him.”
that’s all lily needed to say to you. you find yourself being pushed by an imaginary lily muni to the mercedes home in the paddocks.
as fate would have it, george is walking out of the glass doors, parting ways with lewis. he does acknowledge you like you did with him earlier.
except it’s a much shorter greeting. it’s a simple elegant smile, almost making you feel the hurt seeping through, before making a sharp turn away from you.
“george, hi.” somehow, you had found a voice from within you to call out to him. “i haven’t seen you in a while.”
he stops on his tracks, slowly turning to face you. “hi.” he takes off the sunglasses sitting on his face and gives you a more genuine smile. this time, sending waves of familiarity through your chest. “how long has it been- 4… maybe 5 months?”
you nod slowly, the awkwardness of the exchange finally making itself known. “yeah, i’ve been busy with work.”
his eyebrow raises. “yeah? that’s incredibly coincidental. i was starting to think you were avoiding me.”
sure, he is admittedly still upset with you. only a little bit. but how was he supposed to react when you gave him the stupidest reasons why he can’t take you out on a date?
what the actual fuck did you mean by ‘it’s just sex’ before bolting off and never showing up ever again?
you sigh and drop your head. “i mean, i was.” you can almost hear him rolling his eyes when you see him shift his weight to one leg and a hand rests on his hip. you lift your head up and quickly come to your own defense. “for good reason.”
“in what world did you think saying that would make me feel better?” george narrows his eyes down at you, an expression you never come across too often personally. “i asked you out on a date when i last saw you and you blew me off as if we hadn’t already seen each other bare.”
you close your eyes briefly and hold your hands up, attempting to calm him down. you just wanted to explain yourself, that’s all.
“if you would just let me explain myself, i want to start off with an apology.” you search his eyes for any signs of pulling away, and when you conclude that he is willing to stay and listen, you continue. “alex was right before when he told me to get my shit together if i wanted to date you.”
george’s lips carve into a scowl. you can almost imagine what he’s going to say next. “alex?”
“yes. i admitted to him our little arrangement but when he advised me not to hurt you, i realised he was right,” you frown, your own eyebrows furrowing in sadness. you fold your arms over your chest and rub your arms as you feel the cold sweat from the nerves of laying your cards down.
“i wanted to go on a date with you so bad, please trust me. but with all of my baggage, you didn’t deserve someone who would only give you half of themself,” you explain.
this makes george relax his shoulders a little bit. he is more used to you being a person of very few words and emotions. to have you ramble on to him in a shaky voice and watch your lips quiver is enough to make him forget the hurt he was feeling just mere minutes ago.
“i didn’t want to be with you and only have half of my foot in,” you say. “all of those nights i spent with you, they meant everything to me. i loved sleeping over with you in your bed and waking up to the sound of you humming to yourself while your brushed your teeth.
“and i’m just sorry. i’m sorry that i told you it meant nothing. it wasn’t just the sex to me. you’re not just that.” with every word, your frustration grew as you realise how stupid you had been; how careless you were with george’s feelings while trying to protect it. “you’re more than that, i know it.”
you open your mouth to continue your sentence, until you realise that he’s just been staring down at you throughout your whole monologue. this time with a small grin to his face and his cheeks slightly red.
you take a step back and put your hands down to your side. “what i’m trying to say is that i would like to get to know you better.” you clear your throat with a sheepish grin. “if you allow me.”
george, who had been picking on his phone’s exterior, puts it into his pocket. he folds his arms over his chest. “(y/n), even then i knew all your baggage,” he starts with a soft chuckle. “i asked you out on a date despite all that.”
“my conscience never would have been able to live with it.”
“i appreciate it, and i guess your heart was in the right place.” he takes a step forward and engulfs you in a hug, rubbing your arms as a way to convey that he understands. “but i would have let you break my heart over and over again if it meant that i could be the one to have you.”
you lift your head to look up at him. “isn’t that a tad dramatic for how little we know of each other, george?”
george just forcefully pushes your head back into his chest, this time with his hand brushing through your hair.
“i can’t believe you lied to me and broke my heart over something i was already well aware of.”
you tighten your arms around him, fully taking in his embrace. the fact that you’re in the middle of the paddocks as an obstacle to everyone else has not sunken in yet. “i’ll make it up to you, i promise.”
“yes, you will be paying for the first date actually.”

fic rec time!! lfg
here i compiled a list of 11 amazing fics under 500 kudos!! you have angst, smut, fluff, pinging, grief, hurt/comfort. you fucking name it, it’s here.
happy reading!
Invisible by @nocoastposts [100, G]
For the Brownstone Discord Server's weekly drabble prompt "invisible".
Total Eclipse by @myheartalivewrites [1k, T]
Alex is not sure what the fuck is happening here.
“And if you only hold me tight…”
A man—probably the most beautiful man he has ever seen—is up on stage in this karaoke bar, absolutely murdering Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse of the Heart and he’s pretty sure the guy is crying and it’s one of the most horrifying things he’s ever seen and Alex cannot. Look. Away.
Be Mine (And Be Yourself) by @itsmaybitheway [9k, E]
It starts with a misunderstanding, the way it always does with them.
Early on in their relationship, when there wasn’t even a relationship to speak of, the misunderstandings used to feed the animosity.
Then they’ve turned into something softer when their relationship turned into something softer. Purposefully misunderstanding each other just to take a jab, messing around for the fun of it or turning an innocent comment into a filthy innuendo and watching the other squirm.
But this? Oh a misunderstanding has never been this delicious, this appetizing. This one feels like the door to fucking sexy Narnia and Alex can not wait to eat those delicious Turkish delights
OR Henry just wants to be Alex's pretty little princess and Alex will make sure he gets his wish! AKA my Valentine's Day fic with housewife!Henry
it's so hard to get to heaven with my head in my hands by @anincompletelist [6k, M]
His mother would have a fit if she could see him now, taking comfort he isn’t owed from men he shouldn’t want it from. But Henry wipes his tears with the back of his hand and Alex begins singing the dulcet tune of a Spanish lullaby and George feels, perhaps for the first time in his life, like he belongs.
the tragic flaw is that they hide the truth (that you’re enough, you’re enough) by srrafoxjournals [6k, NR]
Alex has been staring.
For weeks now, actually.
Henry had originally chalked it up to Alex being, well, Alex. But lately, Henry can’t help but take it in as more than just his boyfriend's usual oddness.
Or: After gaining some weight, Henry feels self conscious. Alex however, loves his tummy.
blurred lines. by seafloor [5k, E]
Henry is a lovesick writer; Alexander a charismatic bartender. They’re still fated to fall into bed at some point.
I will/I will/We will by @tintagel-or-cockleshells [6k, T]
Alex's wedding planning business is going from strength to strength, but if he never has another wedding at Mountchristen Manor it will be too soon. He just can't get along with Henry, the venue coordinator, and the feeling is mutual. But when push comes to shove, the couple's big day has to come first.
I’ll be with him again soon by mymistakesweremade4u [3k, T]
It's sometime in mid-January, just a couple of months shy of his 95th birthday, when Henry finds himself surrounded by family in his and Alex's bedroom.
Or, Alex and Henry grew old together.
beg you on my knees (to stay) by @littlemisskittentoes [13k, E]
“Up.” Henry keeps the tone low. Controlled.
Alex is often frantic to follow commands, his limbs falling over themselves in his haste to obey. There’s no sign of that rushed need now. He takes his time, unfolding himself leisurely.
“You’re bold,” Henry monotones. He takes calculated steps forward, punctuating each slow stride with the unbutton and roll of his shirt sleeves. “I’ll give you that.”
“You’re only now realizing? Thought you were brighter than that, baby.”
keep me up all night / i wanna scratch your surface by @firenati0n [1k, M]
They step inside, greeted by moonlight streaming through the windows, illuminating their living room in a dreamy light; it’s enough to see outlines and shapes, enough to keep everything just a little bit secretive, a little softer around the edges.
Henry moves his hand to flick on the kitchen light, and Alex’s hand shoots out to grab his wrist. Henry looks down at him questioningly, blue eyes sparkling even with the absence of light. Alex always feels a little off-kilter around him, Henry both his center of gravity and his reason for vertigo. He’s stabilizing, and dizzying, and everything.
Alex’s thumb and index finger circle Henry’s slender wrist, exerting the slightest pressure. He feels Henry's pulse jump under his thumb.
“Get on the couch.”
don’t let me get drunk again by @getmehighonmagic [3k, E]
Alex had never wanted to cancel plans as much as he had while watching Henry pull a pair of light wash, tight jeans over his stockinged legs and bare ass.
Christ, he’s getting hard thinking about it now.

Moose's Guide to Quick and Easy Gold
So I get the vibes in the community here that a bunch of people don't really know all the tips and tricks to making easy money, so I thought I'd do a writeup on some of the small ways I make gold in Guild wars 2
Trick 1: You have wealth you don't know about
An inportant thing about Gw2 is that a lot of the wealth it gives out isn't in actual gold but in materials that you can then sell for gold. For a lot of people I think its easy to just click 'deposit all materials' and then forget about it. For me personally I have only 100 gold in my wallet but If I were to empty out my material storage I'd gain an additional 300 or so gold. The site GW2 efficiency is really helpful for telling you what high value items you might be holding on to, though It takes a bit of setting up.
Trick 2: Sell Orders!
Admittedly this is something I'm bad about, but if you can delay your gratification, but when you sell something don't fulfill someone elses buy order and instead, set up a sell order. I'll give you up to 10% more gold out of everything you sell
Ok now onto the acutal wealth generation methods
Trick 3: Send your least favorite character to the New Kaineng Jumping Puzzle
Jumping Puzzles in EoD reward jade runestones from their final chest, which go for 80 silver on the trading post.
Find the wiki page to get you through the jumping puzzle here, though there are often commanders on the New Kaineng lfg offering teleport to friend transport to the end of the puzzle. Basically you get a character to the end chest and every reset log in on that character and get your free! runestone, almost a gold for ~30 seconds of work
(as a note you only get the runestone once per day per account so don't send multiple characters there)
Trick 4: Leivas Hands out Gold, make sure to collect it
Ok not actually but he may as well. So this guy who hangs out in Arborstone, once you've gotten the Globalization mastery, will sell you 5 antique summoning stones every week for a grand total of 10 green prophet shards, 10 unusual coins, 100 imperial favours, 7000 karma and 1 gold. The summoning stones can then be sold on for ~3 gold each, netting you a profit of 14 gold for going up to an npc and pressing 'f' (or whatever your interact key is)
Trick 5: fast and profitable metas you should be doing daily
Let me introduce you to my favorite wiki page:
the event timers list
This lists out every meta event and world boss that'll be happening soon and all of them will give you at least something, and the meta's from HoT onwards awards you a hero's choice chest that'll contain at least one of these valuable materials to choose from: amalgamated gemstone (60 silver), jade runestone (80 silver), ancient ambergris (1 gold 70 silver) or an antique summoning stone (3 gold). It should be noted the last 3 only appear in the EoD meta's, for all other times choose the amalgamated gemstone.
With that aside there are 3 events in particular that you should try to get done that'll take 10 minutes or less
first up is the Legendary Ley-Line Anomaly, the naked man. The timer's page tells you which zone it'll spawn in and when it does you have to seek it out and murder it. Mounts are very recommended because this thing dies fast. Anyway when you kill it, it drops 2 things: a mystic coin (1 gold 20 silver) and some vendor trash worth 50 silver, pretty gold for 5 minutes of work
next is Dragonstorm. It happens once every 2 hours starting from the eye of the north and affords you the opportunity to beat up Ryland. If you join the public option you join a crowd of up to 50 other people and its easy enough that you could even afk if you wanted (though that would be very rude). Anyway once you murder the champions and blast the dragons you get to watch them share a passionate kiss as the die and you then get 2 gold straight up, 6 memories of aurene (worth 1.5 gold in total) as well as a chance to win the lottery and get ascended weapons or, even rarer, the very expensive eye infusions
Finally is Tequatl the Sunless, a world boss in Sparkfly Fen that awards you 1 gold straight up as well as a chance at an ascended weapon as well as a bunch of materials and unidentified gear
speaking of which all the other events give unidentified gear too and they aren't actually terrible rewards, you can get a pretty penny from selling them.
Trick 6: Daily Rewards
Firstly, just logging in every day gives you a sadly decent amount of income, mostly in laurels and mystic coins. Coins can just be sold if you're after cold, laurels can be spent on a variety of stuff. And if you're looking to turn a profit, HERE are the best ways to do so.
Also, do your daily achievements people, sometimes they're a pain but the daily completionist gives 2 gold as well as 15 achievement points, more than most other achievements in the game. Also they drive you towards content you wouldn't do otherwise (the daily achievements are the reason why I've done most of the jumping puzzles). Also If you're bad at any of the dailies on offer, usually a bunch of other people are also trying to do dailies and they're often willing to help. I see mesmers porting people through the daily JPs all the time.
Trick 7: Spirit shards can be converted to Gold???
I admit, this isn't something I do myself but if you're accumulating spirit shards like I am there are methods to turn them into gold
They're listed HERE
(again, this isn't something I've tried myself, I can't vouch for how well it works and all the methods require a starting amount of gold. But if you're desperate it might be something to consider
But I want more Gold, how do I get it?
If your looking for serious gold farming there are probably better guides than this but here are a few pointers to start raking in the money
1: As far as I understand, Drizzlewood Coast is the most profitable activity in the game, gold per hour wise. Runs take a while and you kind of have to pay attention to maximise gains but, if gold's what you want this is a good option.
2: Look for meta trains, I notice them happening a lot around reset, basically its a group that goes from meta to meta doing them in sequence. There are a few guilds that do them every day so if you see a train, chances are its on at the same time every day. I find them to be pretty chill, offer some nice variety in content and offer good rewards as well.
3: Fractals. Yeah I know this is getting into endgame content but doing T4 fractal dailies every day gives you around 20 gold straight up, a bunch of materials worth even more gold and a decent chance at ascended armor and weapons (and so many ascended trinkets, seriously at this point they get auto-salvaged if they drop)
Apart from that, pretty much everything in this game gives you some amount of rewards, even if they aren't entirely obvious, so don't stress too much, provided you aren't roleplaying in the serrated blade or whatever (Though good on you for having fun!) you're likely earning some amount of income. Even if it's only in materials

[CN] Victor x MC – S2 CH 46 (Eng Translation - Part 1)
“All I know is that I really want to see her.”
“The moment I heard him speak, I felt as if a soft voice in my mind was whispering to me, reassuring me that it was okay not to be so strong right now.”
Tumblr media
⌚ This post contains detailed spoilers for a chapter that is yet to be released on the global server. ⌚
•─────⋅◍♡◍⋅─────•
[Notes from Anika]: I’m currently working on adding subtitles to the chapter, so I’ll save myself the hassle of adding many sprites, and probably will be skipping on adding notes for voice acting too, otherwise I’d have to do it for every line he says ahah-  ಥ﹏ಥ
【CH 45-1, Victor part】
[Note]: The first part is the continuation of S2 CH 42-15, where it was shown that Victor and Kiro had met up in Paris. Another important segment of Victor’s “taking care of everything” before the inevitable happened. (TдT)
Tumblr media
Half a month ago, in Paris.
The patter of raindrops falls rhythmically on the glass windows, accompanied by the melodious tune from the vinyl record.
As if treading on the beats, the door of the room is pushed open. A dazzling blond figure appears at the entrance.
Kiro’s gaze sweeps over the figures in the shadows of the room before finally landing straight on Victor, who is sitting in the center.
Kiro: The BOSS specially arranged a meeting with me at a secret location in Paris. So, I guess there must be an important matter to discuss.
As Kiro speaks, he walks directly to the seat opposite Victor and sits down, slightly raising his chin.
Kiro: Well, let’s begin.
Victor: I only have one thing to announce.
Victor’s gaze briefly intersects with Kiro’s, but soon shifts towards the figures in the dark corners.
Tumblr media
Victor: Starting today, he will be the new BOSS of BS.
Victor’s deep voice resonates throughout the room, eliciting a collective gasp of astonishment.
The conference room lapses into a deathly silence, and no one utters a word. The bewildered and uncertain gazes of those lurking in the shadows silently exchange their thoughts.
Even in Kiro’s own eyes, a subtle hint of being astounded passes by, almost imperceptible.
But he quickly suppresses it, as if entering a state, and immediately displays a smile that says, “as expected.”
Hades: Since when did a test subject become worthy of being the BOSS?
Hades’s voice breaks the silence. He is the first to step out of the shadows, confronting Victor and Kiro directly.
Hades: Such a loser has no right to dictate and interfere with us.
Kiro: …
Kiro lifts his eyes, and within his radiant golden eyes, a smile filled with arrogance can be seen.
Tumblr media
Kiro: Regarding this matter, you have no authority to intervene.
[Note]: From here onwards, we’re back to the present day, i.e., following the days after S2 CH 44~ do note that it’s been 15 days since the lantern festival of CH 44, but when MC says “two months” later, she is referring to all the events that took place before, minus the moments spent with Victor (TдT)
Tumblr media
The early morning sunlight spills onto the desk covered with scattered documents.
Since Chen Hui was taken away by the city hall, the investigation has temporarily reached a conclusion. The company’s files and materials that were previously seized are gradually being returned.
However, following this, there has been an overwhelming influx of various government approvals and media interview articles.
The consecutive and complex tasks for over two months have been suffocating, leaving me gasping for air. I can only find small moments to do ordinary work in between and relieve stress.
I shake my hands vigorously as I prepare to submit the proposal to LFG, sighing subconsciously.
Anna: Haven’t all the issues been resolved? Why are you still heaving deep sighs?
Tumblr media
MC: There are still so many formalities to be completed; just the thought of it gives me a headache.
MC: Luckily, all the relevant documents for the redevelopment plan have been retrieved, so it won’t affect the subsequent regular work.
MC: The several projects that were temporarily put on hold during the investigation can now be resumed. Anna, I appreciate your hard work in following up on them.
Anna: Don’t worry, I’ll take care of these things. And as for you, have you forgotten about the medical check-up again?
It’s only when Anna mentions it that I remember. The company’s annual medical examination deadline is approaching, and we’ve recently organized a round of group check-ups for everyone.
I didn’t participate in the medical check-up at that time because I was busy with the Chen Hui issue. After returning from the Lantern Festival, I remained holed up in the office dealing with various matters, and now the time has flown by.
Lantern Festival… as the two words inadvertently pop into my head, a series of gentle waves spreads in my heart. I don’t know why, but I have a feeling that I’ve forgotten something very important.
Tumblr media
Anna: What’s on your mind, MC? Remember to make an appointment.
MC: …hmm, okay. I promise to go for the medical check-up once I’m done with my tasks! Right now, I’m heading to LFG for a routine report.
Anna: Isn’t the routine report to LFG always sent electronically?
I look at Anna in puzzlement, only to see an even more bewildered look on her face.
MC: Electronically?
I’m stumped momentarily, feeling like something has fleetingly passed through my mind, but I can’t grab hold of it.
Yeah, that’s right. Of course! It has always been the practice to submit electronic documents. How could I even forget about this?
Ever since receiving investment from LFG, all the major decisions have been conducted through online communication, with e-mail approvals, and the number of actual visits to LFG in person has been few and far between.
A familiar sense of dissonance suddenly surges within me, as if a vital part has been wiped away from my life in a mere moment, leaving no trace behind.
Perhaps noticing my unsettling expression, Anna pats me on the shoulder.
Anna: I told you that you’re too tired. Go back early today and get some rest.
I nod my head and sit back down in my seat, then proceed to open the emails on my desktop.
Indeed, the email contains the routine report for LFG, and reviewing the email history, I can see that it has always been sent as electronic manuscripts to LFG in the past.
Could it be that the delay has caused a memory bias? I shake my head. After briefly checking the document, I click the “send” button.
With the end of the workday drawing near, I set aside the lingering unsettling feeling for now and prepare to go home early and rest.

【CH 46-1, Victor part】
As is usual LOL, through various twists and turns, following the events of the prev. CH, MC finds herself being engulfed by a strong force and ends up in the familiar white desert—
The event MC gets flashbacks of is the white desert scene of S2 CH 37 and meeting a Victor with no memories. But since Victor is erased from everyone’s memories now, the details are blurred for MC even though she desperately tries to recall~ (TдT)
Tumblr media
MC: This place…
Before my eyes stretches an endless expanse of pure white desert, blending seamlessly with the distant horizon.
Waves of heat surge towards me, causing a thin sheen of sweat to form on my forehead, unbeknownst to me.
A sense of déjà vu at the sight makes me freeze in place––
I have been here before.
I feel as if a comet is reversing above my head, taking me back to that chaotic and disorderly space-time overlap incident.
Back then, after Shaw and I mistakenly stepped on that glowing boundary line, I inexplicably found myself falling into this eerie white desert.
MC: That’s right… I had walked here for a long time…
MC: And then, I… huh?
How did I eventually return to Loveland City?
?? (little boy, in flashback): Don’t waste your breath.
?? (little boy, in flashback): You had just fallen into a disordered space. If it weren’t for the CORE on you, I wouldn’t have been able to locate you among countless intricate dimensions.
Ah, yes. Afterward, I was taken out of the desert by that mysterious person from the Black Cabin.
MC: …no, that’s not right.
As if to deny my own memories, I practically cry out.
Tumblr media
MC: [yelling]  NO!!
Before returning to Loveland City, I had clearly met someone in this desert.
Furthermore, that person should be someone really important to me.
Swirling in the rising heat, a blurry figure emerges in the distant horizon, but it only manifests for a mere second before abruptly dissipating.
It feels as though both the blazing sun and the illusion are jeering at me. If that person is so important to me, why is my memory failing me?
Lost in thought, I stand amidst the deadly silence of the sand dunes, the grains beneath my feet slowly swallowing my ankles, as if quietly trying to drag me into the sea of sand.
MC wearily walks through the desert, trying to find a way out. Finally, she finds a totem, and upon touching it, she is taken out of this dimension and into ruins, where she meets Shaw cue. Shaw’s part in the update~

【CH 46-8】
[Anika’s Notes]: One thing I want to mention before starting, throughout the entire chapter, Victor is referred as “男人” (man) while his character is defined as “Others,” unlike how his name would’ve been shown as 李泽言  (Li Zeyan) had this whole oblivion thing not happened. I’ve already wailed over it in my twitter thread, so not gonna do that again LOL. I will, however, write his name as “Man (Victor).” Otherwise, I don’t think I’ll be able to do this shit–– ( ꐦꉺωꉺ)つ)`Д˚)꘎༄ؘ
After parting ways with Shaw, and in the plane on her way to Loveland City—
 —
Tumblr media
After being away for two days, the unread messages and e-mails have piled up like a mountain. As I quickly scroll down with my finger, I happen to tap on a message that has already been read.
“——Hello, Miss MC. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to attend tonight’s networking event. I will be at the venue on the cruise ship, and I sincerely look forward to your presence…”
I blink my eyes, and then it dawns on me that a few days ago, I did receive an invitation from a business partner.
MC: Oh, yes! I almost forgot about this... Luckily, I can still make it in time.
After confirming the time for the evening cruise event, I quickly respond to several messages from my business partners. It’s only after hearing the broadcast reminder to turn off the devices that I finally put my phone down.
The past few days have been filled with such diverse and bizarre experiences that when I close my eyes, images of what I saw in the ruins flash through my mind.
Who exactly was that blurry figure? Why were there so many identical figures around that person?
And what is the connection between those overlapping points of light and the heart of the world...
Lost in my thoughts, I unconsciously sketch out that pattern in my mind. Inexplicably, a familiar warmth gradually begins to well up within me.
Unwittingly, my palm curls up, and a sudden surge of power sweeps over me. Before I can even react, everything before my eyes starts spinning.
The soft seat behind me abruptly vanishes, leaving me without anything to lean on. Caught off guard, I take a few steps back.
Suddenly, my feet sink into softness, as if I have stepped onto a sandy terrain.
MC: Why am I here again––?!
Unlike the calm and tranquil white desert from before, the quicksand this time is exceptionally swift and violent. Before I can even let out a cry of alarm, it engulfs my calves.
I quickly lift my leg, attempting to free my feet from the quicksand. However, with the slightest movement, my body begins to uncontrollably sink further. In a matter of seconds, it has already reached my knees.
MC: …I’m done for!
The image of being swallowed by the quicksand races through my mind, and I instinctively struggle, but the sinking speed only accelerates.
Tumblr media
?? (Victor): Stop flailing about.
In the next second, a deep voice suddenly reaches my ears.
I restrain my instinct to struggle and cease my movements, listening as the voice resounds once again.
?? (Victor): Now, lie down on your back and keep your body flat.
MC: …b-but I’ll end up sinking if I do that!
?? (Victor): If you continue like this, you will only sink faster.
The other party’s voice is not sharp, yet it inexplicably makes one want to have faith in the person.
Gritting my teeth, I fight back my fear and gradually lay down in the quicksand behind me. The warm grains of sand slowly surge up, almost drowning my ears, until they finally come to a halt.
Just as I breathe a sigh of relief and try to clearly see the source of the voice, the surroundings are suddenly engulfed in a swirling sandstorm.
The moment I try to speak, dust fills my mouth, making it difficult to breathe. I struggle to lower my head and suddenly feel a strong hand gripping my wrist.
?? (Victor): [incomparably anxious]  Hold on to me tightly!
Even though I can’t see the other person’s face clearly, I instinctively hold onto his hand, reminiscent of clinging to the last piece of driftwood, and slowly shift my body.
The wind and sand brush against my face, leaving a sensation of pain akin to being cut by a sharp blade, which only intensifies the anguish in my heart.
If this continues, we will both be swallowed by the quicksand. What else can we possibly do…
As I struggle, the power within me seems to respond to my will to survive, burning fervidly in my chest.
It seems to have an impact as the surrounding sandstorm abruptly weakens a little. The hand gripping mine exerts a sudden force, pulling me out of the whirlpool in an instant.
I fall to my knees in exhaustion and apply all my strength to get back on my feet, only to find that my hands and legs have gone limp.
I can only gasp for breath, allowing uncontrollable tears to roll down my eyes. It takes me a while before I lift my head in lingering apprehension.
Tumblr media
MC: [crying]  Th-thank you…
Through the blur of tears, I find myself looking into a pair of ink-black eyes.
The sound of the wind brushes past my ears, but it grows distant and muffled.
I stare at the person in front of me in a daze, and my heart suddenly skips a beat.
His dark-colored coat is stained with dirt and dust smudges, yet his figure remains upright and composed.
His thin lips are slightly pursed, seemingly due to dryness, making them appear even paler in contrast.
Peering through his slightly disheveled bangs, he gazes at me with gentle and serene eyes. For some unknown reason, unfamiliar emotions of aching sorrow suddenly surge within me.
I tightly squeeze my palm in a somewhat wretched manner, fearing that if I wait for a second longer, tears will gush out of my eyes beyond my control.
Why does my heart suddenly feel as if it has lost a vital part, so empty that it makes me unable to breathe?
I have obviously never seen this man in front of me before, yet I feel as if I’ve sketched his features in my mind countless times over, and every subtle change in his expression tugs at my emotions.
Tumblr media
MC: [sobbing]  Why do I…
I restrain the urge that arises from an unknown source, attempting to calm my breathing. Yet, the man seems to sense my gaffe.
He furrows his brows slightly and takes half a step forward, speaking in a hushed tone.
Tumblr media
Man (Victor): [THE TONE OF TRADEMARK “VICTOR-TENDERNESS”]  Are you okay?
I open my lips, but the words “I’m fine” or “It’s okay” feel so heavy that they are choked up in my throat.
I gaze into those deep eyes, and the world before me slowly becomes blurry. The determination I’ve been obstinately holding on to seems to crumble bit by bit.
…the moment I heard him speak, I felt as if a soft voice in my mind was whispering to me, reassuring me that it was okay not to be so strong right now.
Finally, I can’t hold back anymore and grasp onto his lapel, allowing burning tears to stream down unbridled.
Tumblr media
MC: [sobbing]  …I’m sorry. I-I might have been too scared… just give me a moment to calm down…
I struggle to explain, my words coming out in fragments, and I can sense the man’s body stiffening for a moment.
However, he stands silently in his spot, not uttering a word, allowing me to tightly hold onto his clothes as I sob.
The surroundings are quiet, with only my sobbing echoing in the gentle breeze. In the distance, the faint image of tall buildings seems to appear, only to quickly vanish into the heat waves.
Once my emotions have settled to some extent, I awkwardly loosen my grip on his clothes and nod incoherently.
MC: Thank you. I… I’m sorry about earlier.
Perhaps because I myself don’t know how to explain, in the end, I don’t say anything at all.
The man doesn’t ask me any questions, but his gaze lingers briefly on my dusty face, and his brows seem to slightly furrow.
With a belated realization, I wipe away the tear stains on my face and voice the question in my mind.
MC: Were you also accidentally sucked into this disordered space?
The man averts his gaze and speaks with an indifferent expression.
Man (Victor): I don’t know what you’re talking about.
•─────⋅◍♡◍⋅─────•
【CH 46-9】
The unexpected response leaves me momentarily stunned.
For a moment, I’m unsure if the person doesn’t understand what I mean or if there is some other reason, so I tentatively try to ask once again.
MC: How did you end up here?
Man (Victor): I don’t know.
MC: …?
Hearing one perfunctory answer after another, I can’t help but feel a little frustrated. However, upon reflecting for a moment, I quickly find solace.
After all, considering that we are in a space filled with unknowns and mysteries, it’s only natural to be on guard.
Moreover... I don’t have much knowledge about this place either. Perhaps this mysterious man hasn’t entered here accidentally to begin with.
The immediate priority is to get out of here as soon as possible.
With that thought in mind, I discreetly clench my fist, trying to tap into the power of CORE. However, nothing happens.
MC: Why is this happening again… oh, right, the totem!
A sudden realization strikes me, and I promptly scan the surroundings, trying to find the stone totem I had encountered earlier. But then, I hear the deep voice of the man beside me.
Man (Victor): We should go.
MC: Go? Where are we going?
Tumblr media
Man (Victor): …I don’t know.
His perplexing response continues to baffle me, but as I watch the man’s figure gradually fade into the distance, I hesitate for a moment before ultimately deciding to chase and catch up with him.
Since he was willing to risk his life to save me just now, it’s unlikely that he would have any ill intentions toward me.
Whether he is an ordinary solemn man who got trapped here like me or a mysterious being from another dimension, two people teaming up have a better chance of finding a way out of here.
Seemingly hearing my footsteps, the man glances at me calmly but doesn’t say anything.
I clear my throat and strike up a conversation with him, trying to sound natural while maintaining moderate proximity between us.
MC: Um... I’m not really familiar with this place. Would you mind showing me the way a little longer?
MC: But I don’t quite understand. If you don’t know where we are headed, what’s the point of moving forward now?
The man’s eyes flicker for a moment as he glances slightly behind me, lifting his chin.
Man (Victor): In order to not be caught up.
Tumblr media
MC: ...Is there something behind us?
The specious words cause a cold sweat to creep up my back. I turn my gaze in the direction he gestures, only to be greeted with an endless expanse of white sand.
But there seems to be some kind of movement not far away.
My eyes widen as I finally see a gigantic vortex that has materialized in the desert at some point, slowly spinning and extending towards our direction.
MC: What is that?
Man (Victor): Time. If we stop, we will be swallowed up before long.
As if to validate his words, the vortex continues to expand without a moment’s pause. Subconsciously, these words escape my lips.
MC: Are we really going to keep racing against it indefinitely? Until when do we have to keep moving?
Man (Victor): I don’t know––
Seemingly catching a glimpse of my wordless expression from the corner of his eye, his tone falters.
Man (Victor): But time won’t stop. So we must keep moving forward.
His resolute tone sounds as if he is stating some kind of conclusion, which only adds to my bewilderment. But I instinctively follow in his footsteps.
Why does he know all this? Who is he exactly? And why does he keep answering my questions selectively?
I surreptitiously turn my head and gaze at his profile under the scorching sun. A peculiar premonition starts to emerge within me.
He might be the key to my escape from this place.
MC: Hey! Stop for a moment!
The man glances at me with a hint of confusion but still stops in his tracks.
MC: If we keep walking, we’ll exhaust our energy sooner or later. I know a potential solution that might help us find a way out of here.
MC: Let’s go find a stone totem together!
I squat down as I speak and begin to draw earnestly on the sandy surface.
[Tidbits]: it’s a nod to the orphanage escape incident of S2, where kid MC did the same thing, drawing the map on the ground to explain the route to kid Victor~ 🥺
MC: I’ve accidentally entered this space once before, and at that time, I happened to touch a stone totem. It transported me out of here.
MC: It probably looks like this, with snake or gear patterns on top, in a very quaint style...
I point to the diagram I’ve drawn, explaining the details. But as I lift my head to look at the man, my voice suddenly trails off.
Tumblr media
A faint outline emerges on the distant horizon, causing my eyes to widen slightly. In a somewhat incoherent manner, I point towards the distance.
MC: The city I was transported to had buildings with a similar style… perhaps the totem is somewhere nearby!
I spring up impatiently. The man stares into the distance for a moment and then silently keeps pace with me.
However, despite scaling a sand dune, the distance between us and the city remains unchanged.
MC: Strange… why can’t we seem to get any closer?
Man (Victor): That’s a mirage.
Man (Victor): This desert projects one’s innermost longing. But the manifestation is transient, and it eventually fades away.
As if in response to his words, the distant outline begins to blur, reminiscent of a drop of water spreading across a picture scroll.
MC: …why didn’t you tell me earlier?
Man (Victor): There was no need for it.
Man (Victor): As time goes on and you keep on walking, moving forward also becomes an increasing consumption of willpower.
Man (Victor): Being able to see hallucinations at this moment is something that can be considered a blessing.
I instinctively want to refute it. But the moment our eyes interlock, the words get stuck in my throat.
He isn’t teasing me. He genuinely feels that I actually need such a fantasy right now.
MC: You sound like you don’t like seeing hallucinations…
Tumblr media
Man (Victor): [voice trailing off]  Whether I like it or not is irrelevant. If it can be a source of support for you in the desert, then it’s a good thing.
The man’s tone when he says this doesn’t sound as indifferent as before. Perhaps, within his emotions that have been weathered by the wind and sand, there still lurks a glimmer of hope?
The way I’m trying to get out of here now, has he tried the same methods too?
The moment I realize this, I feel that all my previous dissatisfaction with his attitude vanishes into thin air, and that it even surges a resonance from the depths of my heart that I’m unable to understand.
As if sensing my abrupt silence, the man’s tone softens a little.
Man (Victor): ...I haven’t seen the totem you mentioned, but I have come across some other fragments in the sand dunes.
Man (Victor): Nothing happened when I touched them, though. So I kept thinking that I couldn’t leave this place.
Man (Victor): But…
The man pauses.
Man (Victor): Now I feel like perhaps you will be able to do it.
I didn’t expect this person, who seemed to have an indifferent attitude so far, to say such words. I can’t help but be frozen in surprise.
As the man observes my bewildered expression, for reasons unknown, a subtle smile tugs at the corners of his otherwise stoic lips.
Tumblr media
Man (Victor): [laughs softly]  So, come on. Let’s continue looking for that thing you mentioned.
The sun relentlessly shines down, and every grain of sand beneath our feet reflects a blinding white light that makes one’s head spin.
I don’t know how long we’ve been walking, but suddenly my legs give in, and I hear the man speak just at that moment.
Man (Victor): Let’s take a break for a while.
MC: But the vortex behind us––
Man (Victor): It’s still some distance away from us. We can resume our journey before it catches up.
Heaving a sigh of relief, I follow him to a massive sand dune and flop down beside him. I feel an aching sensation radiating through every bone in my body.
The surroundings are eerily quiet. In the vast sea of sand, we are but two insignificant grains of sand that can be scattered with a single breath.
MC: By the way, I don’t know what to call you. I’m MC. What’s your name?
MC: You’re not going to tell me again that you don’t know, are you?
The man remains silent for a while, his eyelashes casting a faint shadow.
Tumblr media
Man (Victor): [sighs helplessly]  …I really don’t know.
Man (Victor): I have no idea about my own identity or why I ended up here.
Man (Victor): I don’t remember anything from the past.
I’m slightly startled, recalling the cold and indifferent “I don’t know” that I got from him before... So, it turns out that it wasn’t just a perfunctory response?
MC: …so, you don’t know how long you’ve been here either?
He nods and casually picks up a stone lying next to his feet.
Man (Victor): I was already in the desert when I regained consciousness. I don’t remember my past, and have no clarity about the future.
Man (Victor): But I remember that I need to go somewhere… because someone is waiting for me there.
Tumblr media
MC: Where is that?
He shakes his head and calmly lowers his gaze, as if what he just said isn’t worth caring about. I, however, can’t help feeling a little distressed.
Even without knowing that so-called destination, he persists in carrying this one and only thought in his heart, continuously traversing through the desert without ever stopping–– for who knows how long.
I don’t know whether to call this person persistent or a dummy.
MC: What did you mean earlier when you said being caught up by time would swallow us?
MC: Also, what you said about the desert reflecting innermost longing… have you seen something in the mirage?
His hand stroking the stone ceases its motion, and he turns his head to look at me.
Man (Victor): Hm? Have you always had so many questions?
MC: I’m just curious... And who knows, maybe as we chat, you might also remember something.
Not sure if he’s been persuaded by my words, but he locks eyes with me for a moment before speaking.
Man (Victor): I don’t remember what will happen if we get caught up… but my subconscious tells me that we mustn’t stop.
Man (Victor): As for the images I saw, I can only remember a blurry figure.
His eyes rest on me as he says this, as if he is gazing upon a hazy memory.
Man (Victor): I can’t recall the details clearly. And even if I could, I don’t think I would remember who the other person was.
Tumblr media
Man (Victor): All I know is that I really want to see her.
The surroundings lapse into silence, and for a moment, neither of us speaks. After a while, the man gently tosses the stone from his hand.
Man (Victor): Tell me about yourself.
MC: I… the place where I live is called Loveland City. It’s a place where miracles can happen at any moment.
MC: If you drive along the mountain road to the seaside, you will be treated to beautiful sunsets. The streets and alleys are filled with small hidden stores, and you can find delightful surprises more often than not…
I keep babbling on and on, sharing a range of topics from the smallest and trivial matters of everyday life to various incidents with some details left out.
I’m unsure whether it’s to break the monotony or to persevere with the hope of returning home just a little longer, and a little bit longer.
The man remains completely silent, leaning against the sand dune, his gaze lowered as he looks into the distance. It feels as if he is regarding my outpouring as mere background sound.
Amid the boundless tranquility, weariness begins to creep in, little by little.
My eyelids gradually grow heavy. In a half-asleep and half-awake state, I seem to hear a very soft sigh.
The sound of breathing beside his ears slowly becomes even. The man withdraws his gaze from the distance and lowers his eyes to the person beside him.
She has her eyes closed, her body curled up slightly, appearing somewhat restless. A faint sense of trance flickers in his eyes.
He doesn’t know why, but his emotions are stirred by the presence of this girl, causing ripples within him. And this slight throbbing, it seems like, isn’t the first time.
He presses one hand against his forehead, trying hard to recollect. Some scattered and broken images flash intermittently in the depths of his memory.
Amidst the sandstorm, there appeared to be a blurry figure. He is unable to make out the person’s face clearly, but he remembers that when she disappeared, she desperately yelled out a name to him––
The memories in his mind suddenly become blank, and the man opens his eyes, exhaling slowly.
Reminiscent of water droplets seeping into gravel, traces of those images fade away in an instant. His recollection of these fragments is becoming increasingly challenging to grasp.
A familiar rustling sound transmits to his ears, and he lifts his head toward the source.
The gigantic vortex reveals a glimpse of its presence within the shadows.

【CH 46-11】
A muffled sound comes from beside my ears, as if something has collapsed with a loud thud. Startled, I’m jolted awake and find myself lying face down on the man’s back.
From behind, deep footprints meander their way, while the sand dune where we were resting earlier is now falling apart in pieces within the vortex.
Despite this, the vortex shows no signs of slowing down, continuing to expand relentlessly without satisfaction.
I draw a soft breath in lingering fear and hear a deep voice coming from beside my ear.
Man (Victor): [the trademark Victor-tenderness]  Awake?
I promptly leap off him and thank him, feeling a little embarrassed.
Tumblr media
MC: [blushing]  Thank you. You saved me once again.
The man doesn’t say anything, but I can discern the traces of weariness in his bloodshot eyes.
We got to relax for only a moment as we are just a hair’s breadth away from being engulfed... and how much longer will we have to endure these sleepless and tireless days?
Man (Victor): What are you staring at?
I hurriedly avert my gaze and respond in a low voice.
MC: Nothing. I’m just thinking about how grateful I’m to you for earlier… I’m fully rested now!
MC: Next time, you take a break, and I’ll keep watch. I promise I won’t cause us any delays again!
As I speak with an expression of making a solemn vow, it seems like a faint smile briefly curves at the corners of the man’s lips.
Tumblr media
Man (Victor): [chuckles indulgently]  You just focus on taking care of yourself first.
Memories stir up like fleeting ripples, reminiscent of a dragonfly lightly touching the water’s surface. But before I can say anything, the person beside me takes the lead in stepping forward.
After trekking through the blistering waves of heat for a long time, something suddenly catches my eye in the distance. As I approach closer, I can vaguely make out the outline of an arrow.
I blink and cautiously turn my gaze to him.
MC: Is it the same kind of fragment you’ve seen before? Or is it also a mirage?
Man (Victor): Not sure. Let’s get closer and take a look.
Ten steps, three steps, one step… the arrow still hasn’t vanished. I quickly walk closer, closely examining it.
MC: Although it’s not the totem I’m looking for, it might still be able to take us away from here… want to take a gamble?
The man casts a quick glance at the encroaching vortex.
Man (Victor): Let’s go.
Man (Victor): As long as we’re not staying in this same place, anywhere else is fine.
As the man speaks, he lifts his hand in unison with me, as if by some unspoken agreement.
A familiar power suddenly surges within my body, causing the worn-out arrow feathers to glimmer faintly. In the next moment, a powerful repulsive force swiftly sweeps us up.
Tumblr media
A faint smell of blood rushes to my nostrils. I open my eyes to a desolate twilight scene, with an immense heap of armor strewn across the barren plain, reflecting in my gaze.
MC: Is this a filming set?
I look around with some surprise and hear the man speak in a contemplative tone.
Man (Victor): It doesn’t seem like an artificial arrangement. Let’s look around first.
I nod and carefully avoid the scattered feathers and arrows as we walk towards the edge together. However, as we continue forward, my puzzlement intensifies more and more, and I can’t help but mutter to myself.
MC: This battlefield feels too real… there isn’t anything like this in Loveland City. It doesn’t even seem like we are in the same era.
Man (Victor): Then perhaps it is real.
Seemingly hearing my fragmented mumblings, the man naturally picks up the conversation. However, a realization suddenly strikes me.
MC: Could it be that the disordered space is connected to other worlds…?
??: Messenger! Why did you leave the military camp and come here?
Before I can finish my sentence, a shout reaches my ears from a distance. I raise my head somewhat and see a troop of soldiers clad in armor waving at me from afar.
An inexpressible sense of familiarity suddenly wells up in my heart. I stop in my tracks and whisper inquisitively to the man next to me, my mind filled with bewilderment.
MC: It’s so weird… why do I feel like I’m really the messenger they’re calling out to? Do you have a similar feeling?
Man (Victor): No. Are you sure it’s not just your imagination?
MC: …but I have a strong sense about it. How about when they get closer, I try talking to them and see what happens?
As we are speaking, the soldiers gradually draw close to us. But before I can even probe, their eyes fall in unison to my side, and they jerk to a halt.
The originally joyful expression on the soldiers’ faces disappears entirely. And in the next second, they swiftly raise their bows and arrows with a numb demeanor.
MC: …!
With no time to react, the man takes my hand and briskly turns, leading me to escape into a deeper part of the jungle.
Tumblr media
The sound of arrows whizzing through the air chases closely behind us, reminiscent of intangible shackles. I push aside the branches and leaves obstructing our path and speak as I gasp for breath.
MC: Why would they suddenly turn violent…?
Man (Victor): [in pain and breathless]  Not sure.
Tumblr media
The tail notes of his voice seem to be muffled. I turn around and see that the man’s suit has been slashed in several long cuts, with even dark marks seeping into the fabric.
…but how could the branches cause such deep wounds?
I anxiously pull him closer to me, wanting to get a better look at his injuries. But without any warning, a nearby boulder suddenly shakes and tumbles down, catching us off guard.
A cloud of dust and fog billows up as a deep crater is formed where the man has been standing just now. I open my eyes wide and look in the direction from which the boulder has rolled.
MC: Why… did it suddenly come rolling down like that?
The series of coincidences seem more like some kind of “manipulation.”
The man furrows his brows. It appears that he, too, has sensed something amiss. Without uttering a word, he swiftly pulls me behind a tree, seeking shelter.
Tumblr media
The distance between us is suddenly closed, and I can almost smell the scent of blood emanating from his body. I try to suppress my racing heartbeat, listening to the chaotic footsteps echoing through the jungle.
I cautiously peer through the gaps in the branches, and an unexpected figure abruptly enters my line of sight––
That mysterious little boy, attired in an outmoded sweatshirt and oversized beach shorts, blends in among the soldiers chasing us, creating a stark contrast.
Oddly enough, it seems as though the others are completely oblivious to his presence.
Seemingly aware of our gaze, he smiles and lifts his hat in our direction.
Little Boy: How interesting! So, it turns out those exiled by the world would end up in such a wretched state.
What does he mean by that? And why did he appear here?
My heart shudders as I notice that the little boy’s eyes are not directed at me, but rather at the man next to me.
The sudden change in the soldiers’ attitude, the inexplicable assault on him from the surrounding trees… akin to igniting a flint, an unimaginable thought suddenly springs to my mind.
Could the boy be referring to him as the person “exiled by the world”?
Just as I’m about to speak, I hear the deep voice of the person next to me resounding.
Man (Victor): Do you know me?
The little boy just grins, neither confirming nor denying it.
Little Boy: Maybe? If you want to find out, it will depend on how much patience you guys have.
As the little boy speaks, his figure disappears in an instant among the troop. The next second, we hear the shout of a soldier coming from a distance.
Soldier: Over here! Ready your arrows!
The man shifts his gaze away from the spot where the little boy has disappeared, furrowing his brows as he looks down at his feet.
I follow his line of sight, only to find the previously solid and arid ground tremble, suddenly sinking like a swamp, drowning the man’s ankles in a flash.
MC: …what is going on!
Unfathomable events unfold one after another right before our eyes, but before we can even begin to process them, countless arrows are aimed in the man’s direction.
Panicking, I hurriedly rush forward. But the man’s voice stops me in my tracks.
Man (Victor): [THAT PAINED TONE—]  Let’s part ways here.
MC: What?
The man’s voice is very soft but carries an indisputable tone.
Man (Victor): One thing I can be sure of now is that I can’t stay here for long.
Tumblr media
Man (Victor): Leave me. It will reduce the dangers for you significantly.
As he speaks with a little more urgency in his tone, an invisible wave of energy ripples through the air, as if trying to forcefully expel him from this world.
As the surging air wave grows increasingly violent, the boulders in the surrounding seem to quake. Realizing that there is no more time for argument, I grit my teeth and lunge myself towards the man.
Before he can react, I instinctively grab his wrist without hesitation.
A familiar wave of heat rushes over us, and in the scorching air, there is a hint of dryness, carrying the scent of sand and dust.
Just as expected. We are greeted with the sight of that vast white desert once again. The swirling vortex remains at a distance, separated from us by a sand dune.
MC: Why does it feel like the vortex hasn’t moved?
Man (Victor): It’s time that hasn’t moved.
Seeing my bafflement, the man points towards the direction of the vortex with his finger.
Man (Victor): I have a sense that the time spent in that world won’t impact the time in this desert.
MC: You mean that the time in each world operates independently?
Man (Victor): It’s likely. But the evidence from one world is not enough; we need more…
Tumblr media
The man suddenly pauses as if having a lump in his throat, and his brows knit into a frown.
MC: Why did you stop talking?
Man (Victor): …why did you follow me back?
It seems like the man has suddenly realized that his analysis conflicts with his earlier unyielding insistence for us to part ways. He averts his gaze and abruptly changes the subject.
A small chuckle escapes me, feeling a mixture of amusement and dissatisfaction. I pout my lips.
Tumblr media
MC: Why do you think? You’re really a dummy.
Man (Victor): …
The man arches the corners of his eyebrows slightly, his expression becoming subtly nuanced. Realizing that my teasing has crossed a boundary, I quickly explain with a serious face.
MC: You yourself mentioned before that when you touched something in the desert, you didn’t receive any response.
MC: So, it’s highly probable that I was the one who brought you into that space just now.
MC: Can we interpret it this way, then? It’s safe to say that without me, you wouldn’t be able to travel to other worlds and would be relentlessly chased by the vortex, so...
Man (Victor): But my predicament has nothing to do with you.
Man (Victor): For you, the world we were in just now was much safer than this desert. It’s not a wise choice to turn back for a stranger.
The man’s words are indeed rational, but why is it making me so infuriated! I pout my lips indignantly.
MC: …I did not turn back for a stranger.
Tumblr media
MC: You saved my life twice and took me on walking through this desert for so long. I’m way more familiar with you than I was with that world.
MC: And, by the way, that little boy who was talking to you earlier, I’ve seen him before too.
MC: If we can catch up with him, maybe we’ll be able to find a way to return to our own world!
I continue talking non-stop about all sorts of reasons, but I keep one thing from him––
I don’t know why, but there is a voice in my heart that keeps telling me––
I absolutely cannot leave you behind like this.
As the man listens to my systematic explanation, his expression relaxes slightly.
Tumblr media
Man (Victor): [laughs extremely softly]  …indeed. The reasons are quite compelling.
Man (Victor): Let’s go then. Let’s search for the other fragments.
•─────⋅◍♡◍⋅─────•
【CH 46-12】
With our previous experience, this round of search seems to have gone much smoother. After crossing over a dozen sand dunes, a worn-out crown appears before us.
As if by a wordless tacit understanding, the man and I simultaneously put our hands on it again. As the familiar sensation of whirlwind strikes again, we find ourselves in a courtyard.
Tumblr media
On the other side of the gauzy curtains, people dressed in gorgeous attires are laughing and frolicking near the fountain. A woman resembling a maid, carrying a wine jug above her head, gracefully approaches us.
The familiarity of the surroundings surges in my heart once more, inexplicably dispelling my nervousness. Just as I’m about to approach and intercept her to ask, my footsteps halt, and I turn around to tear off a corner of the gauzy curtain.
MC: Though we can’t fully trust what the little boy said, it’d be wise to keep an eye out.
MC: Just in case, let’s cover your face first.
Apparently not expecting my sudden move, the man doesn’t dodge me. He allows me to swiftly cover his face, leaving only a pair of deep eyes that locks gazes with mine through the gauzy veil.
His warm breath brushes against the palm of my hand through the soft fabric, bringing me a slight tickling sensation. Only now do I realize how closely pressed we are, and I belatedly find myself speaking up.
MC: …tie it yourself.
I hand him the sheer fabric, our fingertips parting as soon as they touch.
Tumblr media
Man (Victor): [extremely softly]  …alright.
As the man speaks, his fingertips wrap the white fabric around his ear.
I avert my gaze and carefully approach the serving maid from behind the pillars before finally opening my mouth.
MC: Hello, I––
Court Lady: Your Highness?
A brief moment of surprise crosses the other person’s eyes, and she puts down the wine jug to bow to me.
The familiar sense of recognition is reaffirmed once more, and I make a conscious effort to adapt to this implanted sense of identity, tentatively asking my questions.
MC: No need to bow. Have you happened to see a little boy around?
I describe the little boy’s appearance to her, and she seems momentarily taken aback before pointing towards a far-off location.
Court Lady: Yes, I have indeed seen a child like that. He is currently swinging on the swing over there!
Court Lady: It’s strange. I didn’t even feel like he was an unfamiliar face until you mentioned…
The man and I follow the direction pointed out by the serving maid and, sure enough, spot a small figure on the swing. Without any hesitation, we approach him at a brisk pace.
Just as we’re about a step away, the little boy turns his head and shows us a wide grin.
Little Boy: I can’t believe you actually managed to pull him out of that other space again… that’s really amusing.
MC: Hold on! We have something to ask you!
Paying no mind to my words, the little boy leaps off the swing, and his figure disappears in an instant. Suddenly, a subtle air movement stirs up in the previously tranquil courtyard, heading towards us.
The man tries to dodge the airflow by moving to the side, but it eerily follows closely beside him, forcefully lifting the veil that covers his face.
MC: …
Man (Victor): …
Court Lady: There’s an intruder! Guards!!
Several cries of alarm sound near the fountain. In response to the words, an invisible fluctuation ripples out once again.
The man and I lock eyes with each other, tugging helplessly at the corners of our lips. Before the surge of energy sweeps us up, we swiftly clasp each other’s hands.
In the subsequent time, we traverse back and forth between different worlds, relentlessly following the trails of the little boy’s figure.
Tumblr media
Driving a severely run-down off-road vehicle, we make a desperate escape through a charging herd of wild animals…
Through an unfortunate turn of events, we find ourselves inside a spaceship, and out of nowhere, the alarm of the malfunctioning AI machinery blares…
Meanwhile, the peculiarly attired little figure remains at a distance that’s neither too far nor too close, observing us mockingly as we struggle.
Following another burst of white light, we find ourselves facing an expansive and deep space, akin to a starry sea, adorned with numerous translucent golden gears floating in the air.
The little boy lifts his head and looks up in quiet contemplation. As we draw closer, he looks at us with a mirthful smile.
Tumblr media
Little Boy: Well, really impressive! You two actually managed to chase me this far~
Little Boy: It’s a pity, though. It’s just useless persistence, after all.
Ignoring the ridicule in his tone, I take two steps forward.
MC: Given that you never show up without a reason, I don’t believe this time is an exception.
MC: I’m sure you know how to leave the white desert, do you not?
Little Boy: You’re being so straightforward. But you’re the special one, are you not? Only you know the answer to that question.
Deep in thought, I furrow my brows, while the little boy has already shifted his attention towards the man, speaking with keen interest.
Little Boy: I know what you’re about to ask, but I’m not going to tell you.
Little Boy: Because–– it’s also a punishment.
Little Boy: Oh, right, I almost forgot. You mustn’t take him with you when you leave.
Little Boy: Those who assist in cheating will also face the punishment.
The little boy giggles. His figure gradually fades into transparency, and the familiar ripples of energy emanate once again in the surroundings.
After a dizzying spin, the immense desert comes into view again. Under the nearly white daylight, every grain of sand around us radiates a blinding brilliance.
I stagger a few steps and am steadied by a strong arm. Just as I regain my balance, I suddenly notice a plane ticket lying quietly at my feet.
Passenger Name: MC, Destination: Loveland City, Departure Time: 10:45 AM.
Isn’t this my return ticket?
I hesitantly reach out my hand, and a familiar power surges within my body once again. As if sensing something, the plane ticket emits a silver-white glow, even more radiant than before.
Tumblr media
MC: …look! This seems to be a fragment for returning to Loveland City! Let’s go together!
A rare expression of hesitation briefly crosses across the man’s face.
Tumblr media
Man (Victor): …there’s no need. You heard what he said just now. If you were to be punished…
I swiftly close the distance between us in three steps, clutching onto his sleeve.
MC: I don’t believe we are cheating at all.
MC: The real punishment for me would be if I, despite having the ability to take you with me, leave you behind out of fear of the “so-called” punishment.
MC: So, come with me!
The man’s lips twitch slightly, and he doesn’t pull back his sleeve. A white light envelopes us instantly.
Tumblr media
“...This flight is now halfway through its journey, and we will soon be serving meals. Please remain seated and patiently wait…”
The sweet-sounding voice over the announcement accompanies the loud humming of the aircraft’s operations as it reaches my ears. Feeling apprehensive, I open my eyes and see the flight attendant approaching our direction with the food cart.
The man sits in the seat next to me, quietly observing the surroundings. The dim light of the cabin is reflected in his deep, dark eyes.
Without giving him a chance to speak, I reflexively grab the magazine on the seat and open it, placing it as a barrier in front of him.
MC: Shh––
I glance in the direction of the flight attendant and quietly caution him. Inadvertently, I catch a glimpse of my phone out of the corner of my eye, and the screen displays the current time.
13:28.
•─────⋅◍♡◍⋅─────•
【CH 46-13】
…when I was swept away by that force, it was exactly this time.
Just as expected, all those immensely long experiences in the disordered spaces seem to condense into a single fleeting moment upon returning to reality.
Before I have a chance to process my thoughts, an amiable voice inquires in my ear.
Flight Attendant: Hello, miss. Today’s set menu offers two options: beef and fish. May I ask which one you would like to choose?
My body tenses up, and I hastily scan my gaze across the man’s figure.
Oh dear, now there’s suddenly someone in the previously empty seat. Even if I cover his face, there’s no way she wouldn’t notice him…
After not receiving a response for a while, a hint of confusion appears on the flight attendant’s face. She lowers her body slightly and speaks in a gentler tone.
Flight Attendant: Miss? Have you made a decision?
MC: …beef, please. Thank you.
Trying to conceal my nervousness, I watch as the flight attendant smiles and hands me a meal tray. Then, she pushes the food cart and heads straight towards the back row.
The man and I share glances with each other before I tentatively call out to her.
MC: Excuse me, could I please have another serving?
The flight attendant looks at me with some bafflement for a moment, but professionally hands me another meal tray before moving away with the food cart. Once she is a bit further, I speak in a low voice.
MC: What just happened? It seems like she can’t see you?
MC: Come to think of it, I haven’t actually confirmed this before, but... are you human?
The man sets aside the magazine from his face and glances at me with a puzzled expression.
Tumblr media
Man (Victor): What do you think?
MC: It’s hard to say from my perspective… do you mind if I poke you to find out?
Man (Victor): [sighs LONG AND HARD]  …
The man lets out a sigh, seemingly declining to comment. His expression, however, suggests tacit approval.
I reach out and poke his arm. Hmm, it’s firm;
I then prod his chest. Hmm, I can feel his heartbeat;
I gently touch his cheek again. Hmm, it feels warm as well;
Just as I’m about to feel his hair, the man grabs hold of my fingertips.
Man (Victor): Have you confirmed it now?
[Anika’s Reactions]: LMFAAOOO MC!! sorry I had to stop haha. what an innovative way to say you wanna touch his 104 LOL; we see you girl 😆 when you have a life-size full course meal with midnight snacks sitting right next to you, despite the predicament, it is indeed “hard” to control yourself.~ 😂 but also, the fact that she can ask him that so naturally and he just lets her have her way with him like he always has– it simply further seals their “sense of belonging” and that line that no matter what world, they’ll always meet and are destined to be 吸引 (drawn/ attracted) to each other with or without the memories. After all, attraction to another means both emotional and physical, does it not~ ❣️
Tumblr media
MC: Yes, yes, I have. How do you feel now? Is there anything that feels off to you?
Man (Victor): [GODS THAT PAINED TONE]  Everything seems normal.
Man (Victor): The seat hasn’t collapsed, and the seatbelt hasn’t suddenly tangled around my hands or feet.
MC: You’re right. It’s definitely more welcoming than that spaceship world… now that I think about it, it seems like every world reacts differently to your presence.
MC: On that battlefield, the soldiers were directly on guard to fight you with swords and spears; whereas in the ruins, the dwarves simply kept their distance from you, pointing and whispering among themselves;
Tumblr media
MC: Perhaps the inability to see your existence is a manifestation of this world?
The man’s eyebrows furrow slightly, and a hint of contemplation flashes in his eyes. After a moment, he speaks.
Man (Victor): Indeed. Other than that, there doesn’t seem to be a more plausible explanation.
MC: Compared to other worlds, this level of rejection seems relatively mild… it could be a sign that you have a special connection with Loveland City!
Man (Victor): …
MC: Why the speechless face! I’m being serious!
Tumblr media
MC: If it’s only to this extent, I think you could totally live here. Who knows, if you stay long enough, this world will eventually embrace you?
Exhilarated, I pick up the spread-open travel magazine and gesture for him to take a look.
MC: Look, this is the seaside sunset I mentioned to you earlier… and here, during the flowering season, it’s also a sight worth visiting!
I describe the charm of Loveland City to him, but suddenly, something crosses my mind.
MC: Since you’re going to live here, you should have a name. Otherwise, it would be inconvenient to address you.
Tumblr media
Man (Victor): …? If you’re the only person who can see me, it doesn’t seem to matter much whether I have a name or not.
MC: But selecting a name would also serve as a declaration of the beginning of your new life!
The man and I lock eyes for a moment, but then he shakes his head.
Man (Victor): I don’t have any particular ideas about a name at the moment.
Tumblr media
MC: How about I help you in choosing one?
MC: Since we met in the desert… how about the name “Dune”? (*)
Man (Victor): …
MC: Or how about Mr. Handsome? Mr. Benevolent Enigma? (*)
Man (Victor): [much more dots than usual]  …….
Seeing the man’s expression becoming increasingly nuanced, I quickly seal my lips.
In the corner of my eye, I coincidentally happen to glance at a photo of a panda in the magazine. I seem to feel a sudden surge of emotions stirring in my heart, causing me to blurt out without thinking.
MC: How do you feel about the name Vic-Vic? (*)
MC: Just the one to be a good reminder for you to talk more, instead of being like a closed-off person.
The man’s gaze lingers on the photo for a moment, and his expression seems to soften with a touch of tenderness.
Tumblr media
Man (Victor): [laughs elatedly, unbeknownst to him]  …childish.
─────
[Notes]: It’s gonna be a big note, and yes, it’s on the names:
– the 1st one MC chose was 沙沙 (shā shā), taking the first character from 沙漠 (shāmò; means desert) and using iterations to make it cutesy. 沙 independently means “sand.” so I’m pretty sure Elex will go for something like Sandy LMAO
– the 2nd one (Mr. Handsome) is the literal translation of 小帅; the 3rd one’s tricky. It’s 沈密仁 (Shen Mi Ren). Here, 沈 (Shen) is a surname; whereas 密 (Mi) means “enigma/ mystery”; and 仁 (Ren) means “benevolence/ kindness.”
– and lastly, it was, as you might’ve already guessed, 言言 (Yan Yan), derived from his original name 李泽言 (Li Zeyan); the same name his mom used to call him, the name of his panda friend, and one of the names the whole fandom calls him affectionately~ 😭  and as for why MC says it’s a good reminder for him to talk more, the term 言 (Yan) independently has the meaning of “word/ to speak/ to talk/ speech”~ ❣️

Mediaposting 2024, #6: Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2/The Great Ace Attorney Resolve
Tumblr media
Completed: April 21st, 2024 (/i still have to watch the DLC episodes that didn't get released with the official loc, I guess but I'm not playing it any more so ?? lol)
Time spent: 49.5 hours (will be like 50.5 after the DLC stuff)
Rating: 9/10 (more objectively. but a very biased 9.5 in my heart.)
ohhhhh my god alright where do i even start with this. i guess i also have to talk about dgs1 a little bit in this review/mini completion log but I will TRY and keep it to just 2. [editor's note: somehow succeeded with this! lfg]
first, to get the non-spoiler parts of this out of the way:
please for the love of god play this fucking game if you've played the original AA trilogy but not the DGS duology. i can not stress this enough. i would not recommend playing them as your FIRST aa games because a) they will set your bar way too high (and too low simultaneously bc wow dgs1 still has whack as hell pacing) b) there are a few details, especially in this particular game, that will evoke no reaction in you if you haven't played at least the main three games but WILL cause you to start gnawing on drywood if you have Knowledge Of The Future
the whole dgs duology - and specifically as a duology, bc 2 makes no sense without 1 but 1 by itself is not on this level - is absolutely in my top 3/4 AA games now. i admittedly have not replayed the original trilogy in quite a while, buuuuuut T&T/AAI2/DGS1+2 are my new top 3. not necessarily in that order, give me a bit to think about it lol.
im going to be thinking about this game for the rest of my life probably. i can see why my best friend wanted me to play it for uh. seven years. because yeah it really is that good.
i want to cosplay four different designs from it. i have not wanted to cosplay anything new (to me) since neo twewy came out three years ago. take that as you will.
music still slaps. obviously. my favorite new song is absolutely partners (IYKYK) but agh. the new theme(s) that characters get are all so fucking good. clenches fist. the leitmotifs
definitely becomes relevant in retrospect in a few places where capcom obviously cut the hell out of the budget but they saved it for where it matters so i dont care. im also uh. very used to low budget VNs so frankly even 3D models are better than I'm used to LMFAO. i also you know. didn't realize that they did that until after the fact. so. they hid it well
if you havent played this go and play it (after playing the original AA trilogy). please for the love of god im on my hands and knees.
everything below the cut (i.e. below this point) has blatant unfiltered spoilers. you have been warned.
okay so welcome you've presumably played all of dgs2 if you're reading this. i have THOUGHTS. a lot of these will come off as critical/negative but i need to strongly emphasize that these are the only reasons that this game is not a 10/10 for me and otherwise i'm in love with it. it is fucking CLOSE. i am not talking a lot about the things i really love because that is.............................a lot of the game for me and we'd be here all day. the critiques are much more limited in number. but. you know.
dgs2 absolutely has much, Much better pacing than dgs1 does overall. it does not take 3 cases to get past a bunch of tutorial cases. this is a good thing. however..............the first two cases are still very slow. i won't call them pure filler, because a) reminding us about yuujin was a very good idea, b) they contribute to the Themes of the game. and im glad hosonaga was there again and (of all of the side characters we could have had) seeing souseki was good. i like them. but they really didn't need to be there to fulfill the themes of the game. case 2 in particular feels like a filler case, which I do not love given how tight the rest of the plot feels. if anything i feel like they should have done an interim flashback case without susato, as much as I adore susato, because as-is it's canon that ryuu had 3 cases in the span of a week. which feels INSANE
speaking of better pacing: im so glad dgs2 remembered that AA games can take investigation breaks between courtroom shit because running through ALL of the trial after ALL of the investigation in 1-5 was. let's say. taxing. the 'finding their footing' aspect of the first game
i do kind of wish we got One more case with the masked apprentice where susato wasn't there at all for the entire case. if only because then the delay between ryuu Thinking It and susato Knowing it would be even more painful. but i do really appreciate that they don't try to make it a woah big reveal as much as a painful "i know who you are but you don't." really adds a certain je nai se quois or however the fuck you spell that. idr. its 1 am when im typing this
also hey asougi can we fucking unpack how susato (the girl you were raised with to some extent, probably not like your sister but your weird younger cousin) called your name and you didn't remember who you were but you DID remember when you saw a wax reconstruction of your dead dad. can we fucking talk about that for a minute. can w
speaking of asougi. my god. they did such a good job with him. i think i wouldn't have cared nearly as much about him if all we had was the dgs1 stuff but his extreme motivation for the truth almost turning him into a violent attack dog is. aaaaaaaaaah. god. and the parallels between him and his father's followers (read: the von karmas) that one has from playing the mainline AA games. truly brainworm material
speaking of this: i can absolutely tell they did NOT think about writing the professor stuff with this game until they added in the masked apprentice - before he got turned into asougi - even though the reaper was obviously something that was planned. i do not care personally about this, because game dev is weird as hell and it REALLY works with asougi and van zieks' character arcs. in the same way that i don't think [SPOILER CHARACTER] from vlr would have been as good without the knowledge of 999, i think if barok had been foiled against a new character it wouldn't have worked as well. all that said. it sure is obvious they didn't know what they were doing. this makes me even more impressed that that they got it to work at all
the same is true of everything with the hound of the baskervilles but im really glad that they took it in the direction that they did.
also man it is so obvious that they probably wanted to have this be a proper trilogy like the original trilogy but then budget happened. because 2-3 through 2-5 all slap but they feel so fucking weird next to 2-1 and 2-2. like i dont feel that theres anything missing per se but a little more time for character growth would have been nice. hell even adding in an extra case (and/or editing 2-2....)
the only writing thing, aside from. 2-2 being like that. and the other weird pacing issues..that extensively is off to me is the whole assassin trading plot. i do think it is Very stupid and that they clearly wrote themselves into a corner with 1-5 on how to deal with it because they just...proceed to not deal with it until 2-4 and 2-5. however. even with that said. i actually kind of like that it is so stupid. because stronghart definitely feels SO obsessed with his version of justice that he wouldn't think through the potential downsides of having two free-roaming assassins running around and maybe coming to get his ass. obvious flaw that would not occur to him because of his insane ass behavior
its still dumb. but it's ace attorney dumb. so i can excuse it a little bit
stronghart being a damon gant expy was funny but goddamnit was it predictable. making him be so obssessed with justice that he talks to ryuu about it for 4 hours was funny as hell though and absolutely adds to him as a character. still dont like him that much Personally but hes definitely a character
his breakdown was peak. by the way. top 3 breakdowns in the series
jigoku being like that kills me. also. the way he just let genshin
g. genshin impact (sorry)
i dont care that sherlock's bullshit was a deus ex machina bc honestly.....electricity was real at that point. its fine
also. holy shit i love ryuunosuke in this game even more. 'i'm not doing this for you, kazuma. i'm doing it for the truth.' BANGER!!!!!!!!!!!! his growth across these two games is really good but especially in this one he shines so brightly
however..........this game made the glaring lack of ryuu's parents even more obvious. its not like i Need it or anything but considering how he very literally refers to yuujin/susato/sherlock/iris as his family in 2-4.....where are your parents!!!! what was your childhood like!!!!!! I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS THAT I WISH COULD BE ANSWERED!!!!!!!!!
and asougi. i could write an essay on asougi alone i think. but i adore how both he and ryuu are like 'you've changed' at each other and neither of them are wrong but then by the end they're like 'wow you're the same as before.' theyre so fucking gay. anyway
and sherlock (WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU WHY DO YOU LIE FOR FUN LIKE THIS????????)
and yuujin (partners ~ game is afoot starts playing and i start crying). obsessed with how they only had to write the dynamic for a single case and you can believe all of it because they can just go. lol. ACD canon. anyway
and susato
and, most surprisingly of all for me.....fucking barok van zieks. i would not call myself a Fan of him in the way i am a Fan of asougi and ryuu, but i am obsessed with him. he did so many things wrong but realizes he genuinely fucked up and wants to atone for it. he gets genuinely upset in prison when he can't join the red-headed league. he's a professional alcoholic. he has bats in his office (???). what is wrong with him. (i know the answer is 'literally everything that could be wrong with a person.' but still
i love every single character in this game (or i hate them but because they were written to be hated)??? how did they manage this again. dgs1 helps so much here because the character growth.
argh. the character parallels with everyone realizing their parent / mentor figure was fucked up and/or hiding shit from them in some way. thinking emoji rotating in a circle goes here
wow that magically became way less critical as i was writing it. i thought it was going to be a lot stronger of a critique. its still weird pacing stuff basically that bothers me but i have very minor complaints that im forgetting aside from this
UHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEAH HI GUYS IM BRAIN ROTTING NOW FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this has had almost the same brain impact on me (as evidenced by the 1 million words about it) as raging loop i think and thats never a good sign since i still think about raging loop at least once a week despite the fact that i played it 3 goddamn years ago

Let’s address the elephant in the room: Roebuck dropped. Fucking yikes, but then again what did we expect when she hasn’t actually played a single MINUTE. Gareth Taylor you’ve got a lot to answer for. What on earth.
Glad Khiara is getting another senior call up, I really do think she’s heir apparent to the Queen of Stops.
Dear lord above THATS a lot of defenders. And Sarina will still play Bronzey every single solitary second. I really hope we see some Lotte minutes because she’s been such a beast this season, she’s really proved herself imo. Also Le Tissier you little scamp I want some absolute shithousery, get on that pitch.
Grace Clinton call up YES LAD. COME ON GRACE. My favourite young’un, she’s so good on the ball. Come to the Arsenal.
Everything else as expected, Keira Walsh my beloved mwah mwah you just have fun and be yourself. Zelem, you do… the thing you’re good at I suppose. Corners? It’s corners I think.
MEADO BACK LFG
I’m sick of these pathetic little scorelines I want a Beth Mead hatty at the Meadema derby thank yewwwww I need it like I need air to breathe
I’m worried recent motherhood (new pubby) will have softened her killer instinct, but then again on the pitch she’s looking increasingly fuming so let’s see what she’s cooking for me.
Finally, a special message to Lucy Bronze: good job at the Clasico, now please fucking survive this.

I've not played D2 long, all things considered, and have never shelled out for a Season Pass (Tho they're switching to something else now??) I DO like following the game's story but worry I don't play regularly enough to get my money's worth out of temporarily-available content. What sort of time investment do you (and others) feel you need to put in to keep it from feeling like a waste?
It honestly depends on you!
They're switching the seasonal stuff, yep, and we don't know how Episodes will work yet, but so far seasons have been streamlined to be fairly easy to finish even if you don't have a lot of time to play. Finishing the season pass has not been too hard, especially with the seasonal challenges that give massive amounts of XP.
The story could be done week by week or you could just wait until it's all over and then do it in one go, depending on how much time you had to play. You could technically wait for the last month or so and then do everything in bulk; the story, seasonal challenges, levelling, any extra content.
I play quite a lot, but I finish the story and the pass without any targeted grinding. I don't do bounty prep, I don't minmax XP gains or anything, I just do the story weekly and whatever else I feel like playing and I've always been able to finish all the content normally. I do have a regular raid/dungeon group as well so that helps; playing solo will always put you at a little bit of a disadvantage, but with the in-game LFG, it's now little easier to find people to play with!
I wouldn't say you need to play like a full-time job to make it all worth it and I hope they keep that for Episodes! There's plenty of time to get things done even if you don't put 15+ hours a week. As long as I finish the story and the season pass levelling, I feel like my time/money spent was not a waste. Anyone else with any extra input feel free to share!
If you know you aren't really playing regularly, I'd definitely suggest to wait before getting any of the seasonal content. You can always purchase it separately if it interests you or if you know you'll have more time to play and you can skip some stuff that you might not enjoy or have time for. You can always check things out online and decide if you want to spend money on it later!
I'm always of the opinion that it's better to skip on things/"miss out" than spend money and then regret it or force yourself to play when you're not interested. Your money and your enjoyment should come first. Preordering the whole yearly pack is not really necessary, especially if you know you're going to be skipping some content. You can always just buy stuff you specifically want and know you'll play and check the rest online.
Hopefully some time soon they'll tell us more about Episodes. So far we know that they'll last longer than season, but there will only be 3 per year, instead of 4. There might be more levelling to do, but you'll have more time as well. We still need more information about it though, so if you're not sure, don't invest into it yet.

I had my stuff ready for the bus to go to the camp.
Since there were an odd amount of people I was able to sit alone.
On the bus, I just fell asleep.
When we made it there, we could choose we got to room with.
“We are in the forest. It’s extremely dangerous.” Alex said.
“There is a lot of wild life here.
“Um, also since we have an odd amount, someone will have to be alone.”
“Me!” I said walking to a tent.
“Okay, Andrea is it.”
“Anyway, could everyone tell me who they would like to room with?” Alex said in the background.
As I made it to my tent, I put the stuff away.
After a few hours I went to bed.
In the morning, we had to go clean the rose garden.
“Today, our job, is to get this garden to look as beautiful as it was before the flood.” Alex said.
“As a reward, you will get the priceless knowledge that you have helped healed a community.”
“Neat.” Q said.
“Um, you also get an extra hour before curfew tonight.” Alex said.
Everyone was so excited.
“Yeah? Great, let’s get to cleaning, shall we?”
“Um, cool I’ve got some rakes here. Here we go:”
As everyone was cleaning, i went near a rose bush to smell it.
“Andrea.” Someone said.
“AHH. Oh, Q. Hi.”
“Everything okay?” He said.
“Yup! I’ve done great avoiding candy and actor!” I said.
Candy= Kitty and Actor=Min ho.
“You know they aren’t around, right?” He said.
“Well better safe then sorry.” I said smirking.
“I’m going to go back with Florian, stay safe.”
“Will do.”
After a bit of cleaning, Ocean Park was here.
Everyone was running to see him.
Madison, Min ho, and him were talking, then he noticed me.
“Hi, what’s your name?” He asked.
“Who, me? I’m Andrea Song Covey.”
“That’s a beautiful name, are you enjoying it here?”
“Um, yes I am!”
“Excuse me, I have to finish something,” I said running off.
After cleaning, I went back to my tent, and had a little spa.
“Knock, knock.” A female voice said.
“Come in,” I said.
“Yuri? What are you doing here?”
“Well, I’m bored and it seems like a good excuse to come here.” She said.
“Also, Kitty was telling me that you weren’t staying at the dorm, why?”
“You won’t tell your mom right?” I said.
“No, we aren’t on the best terms because well, I’m gay.”
“Oh my. I support you,” i said.
“Anyways….” I said explaining why I wasn’t staying at the dorm and about Ji-ae eonnie.
“Well I hope you have fun as a model.”
“Thanks.” I said.
We were laughling and talking for a few hours.
“I have to go back, curfew.” Yuri said.
“Okay, but give your number.” I said.
We exchanges numbers.
“Night, Andrea.”
“Night.”
There was tugging at the tent, which I’m gonna assume is for knocking.
“Come in.” I said.
“Why have you been ignoring me?” Min ho said.
“I’m not?”
“You’re not? Well ever time I’m near you, you excuse yourself to leave.”
“I’m not answering that, plus you should go back. Curfew.”
“Whatever.” He said leaving.
I hate being confronted, and didn’t want to talk about it.
But, for some reason, my heart felt empty.
I did my skincare and got into my pjs and went to sleep.
“Min ho, what are you doing?” I said as he pinned me to the wall.
What, you look hot in that dress, I’m angry right now, you’re like teasing me. I just want to ruin you.”
“Then do it.” I said.
He gave me a kiss on the lips, then I jumped into his lap, arms around his neck.
He slipped the sleeve of my dress and..
“HUH?” I said as my alarm went off.
“Oh, it was just a dream.” I thought.
“I should get ready.”
I had my stuff, so I went to the bus.
I got to sit by myself again, and we went back to school.
A few hours after school, dad called me.
“Hey pup.”
“Hi dad.” I said.
“Kitty told me you aren’t staying at the dorms, so where are you?”
“I’m staying with our cousin, Jenny Song.”
“I remember her, your mother and her hung out a lot and even was the flower girl at our wedding.”
“Really?”
“Yea. But, why aren’t you staying at the dorms?”
I told him why and that I also became a model for Jenny’s company.
“That’s exciting, but stay safe alright.”
“I will dad.”
“Alright, bye pumpkin.”
“Bye.”
I had forgotten him to tell him something.
“What do you need?”
“I forgot to say, I’m not going back home for winter break.”
“What?”
“I’m sorry. I just dont wanna see Katherine okay.
“No,no it’s fine. I’m just surprised.”
“But I’ll call you everyday, promise.”
“All right, bye for real.”
“Bye dad.”
I just cant handle seeing Katherine, I feel like I hate her but I don’t.
Whatever I need to go to bed.

I'll Always Find You
Part 1 can be found here: One Small Decision
All the responses had been the same. “Nope, haven’t seen or heard from her.” Victor slammed a fist on his desk in desperation-fueled frustration. He could go to the police, he supposed, but doubted they’d take him seriously. It had been less than 24 hours and she was an adult. They’d had a fight. He’d just be eye-rolled out of their office…
So he went back to the stack of evolvers. Every minute ticking by was a drip of water torture serving to drive him insane. He called her after each page and despite the calls going straight to voicemail each time, Victor found himself holding his breath through that single ring. Stupid, stupid, stupid…
Everything paused as he flipped the page and found himself face-to-page with Ernest Elm, evol: tracking. It was almost too perfect to be true. Victor picked up his phone and dialed the number, hand holding the phone shaking and the other tapping the desk while his knee bounced. Two, three, four times it rang before a voice came on the line. “Hello?”
“Hello, is this Ernest Elm? This is Victor Li. I need your evol’s assistance.”
~~~
An hour later, the redheaded and freckled Ernest stood in Victor’s office at LFG. He couldn’t have been older than twenty, with nervous eyes and twitchy hands. “Sit, sit,” Victor invited, gesturing to the chair where the girl usually parked herself. The young man did so, and Victor skipped the small talk. “Thank you for coming. Tell me about your evol. What do you need for it to work?”
“I, uh. Just need something that belongs to the person, and then I can see a thread that leads back to the owner. I usually just use it to return lost items, sir. I don’t know that it’s super helpful…”
Victor rifled around in his desk and emerged with a small, well-loved shiba inu plushie. “If you don’t think it’s very helpful, Mr. Elm, then you have not spent enough time thinking of applications. You would be the most efficient search and rescue officer Loveland has ever seen. You could track down criminals, trafficked women and children, or missing persons. I would say that is a most noble evol.” He lifted his dark eyes and connected them to Ernest’s. “What are the limitations?”
The young man seemed slightly taken aback by Victor’s statements. Could he really be that important? A smile settled onto his face and Ernest visibly relaxed. “I haven’t really found a distance limit, but the person does have to be alive. Sir, before we do this…would this person want to be found? I mean, I’m not helping you be a creepy stalker or anything, right?”
“She would want to be found, yes. It’s possible that she might be in danger, so shall we get started?” Victor’s voice had regained its sharp edge and Ernest straightened in his seat. He accepted the doll with some amount of apprehension while Victor looked on with concentration.
“Do you have a map? It would be easiest for me to tell you where she is if I have a map to draw you a path.”
Victor pulled a map of Loveland out of his desk drawer and scooted it over along with a pen. He folded his hands over his knee and swallowed the feelings of concern at the phrase ‘does have to be alive.’ But his dark eyes remained focused on Ernest’s face as the man held the toy and scrunched up his face.
There was a long pause as tension hung heavy in the air before Ernest reached for the pen. He seemed to be following roads with one eye closed and the tip of the pen hovering over the map until it lingered over the industrial side of Loveland. The pen lowered until it kissed the map, leaving a small dot. “That’s the spot, sir.”
Victor scooped up the map and examined the place where the marking lay. “Thank you. I must be going now. Goldman will give you your pay and escort you out.” Without further discourse, Victor disappeared down the hallway with his phone in one hand and map in the other.
Speed limits were for people who didn’t have anywhere important to be. At least, that seemed to be Victor’s attitude as he flew down the side streets which led to the sketchier parts of Loveland. It was all but confirmed in his mind that she had been kidnapped at this point; there was no reason why she would have willingly ended up in the dilapidated industrial sector.
The further out he went, the fewer cars he passed until he turned onto the final road and found himself completely alone. Whoever these people were, they had obviously gotten all of their training from bad films and crime novels. Victor pulled into the marked parking lot and stopped the car at the far end, not wanting to alert anyone inside to his presence earlier than was necessary.
Victor slipped through the first strains of darkness to flatten himself against the wall of the building. So far he hadn’t seen or heard anyone, but that didn’t mean there weren’t eyes on him. Practically a wraith, he slipped around the outside until he found a door whose lock had been smashed. It opened easily and Victor entered without a sound.
Unfortunately, the building was quite large and there was no telling where the girl was being kept. Victor listened carefully for any sound, but was only struck by the vast silence of the building’s hollow carapace. His keen eyes swirled as they scanned the floor for any sign of passage; however, it appeared he would not be so lucky. So he pushed forward into the depths of the building, the dim light providing only little guidance as he walked the halls.
Door after door Victor paused outside and listened, pushing open those he could when he heard nothing behind them. Honestly, he’d expected to find guards by now, but obviously this was a small  or inexperienced bunch. How they’d managed to catch someone as capable as his dummy made no sense if they were that inept, but the ‘how’ could wait.
When faced with the realization that he’d scoured the entire first floor, Victor paused at the stairwell. It went both up into higher floors and down beneath ground, and there still was no real sign which way he should check. He chose downstairs for multiple reasons; firstly, it was easier to drag an unwilling captive down than up. Secondly, underground would allow them to use lights without drawing attention to their abandoned abode.
It seemed his reasoning was sound. Upon reaching the bottom of the stairs, a slight glow called from the far end of the hallway. Victor felt his heart rate increase as he knew he was on the correct path. Every cell in his body screamed for him to throw caution to the wind and race to the girl’s side, but thankfully the ones in charge of action still managed to maintain some semblance of order.
At least enough order for him to only run to the end of the hallway as silently as he could manage and stop outside the door to listen. Two male voices conversed in hushed tones, low enough that Victor couldn’t quite make out what they were saying. He pressed his ear against the door in an attempt to hear better, only to wish he hadn’t.
“We should just finish the job. We’ve had our fun and at this point, she’s a liability. She’s seen our faces and we can’t let that go.”
“I suppose you’re right. But I want to have a little more fun, first. Where’d that knife go?”
A soft rustling accompanied a muffled groan and squeak of fear. The sound of skin slapping skin and a pained squeal brought the fury which had been building in Victor’s stomach into his extremities. He burst through the door, taking in the scene in one swoop. It wasn’t a large room; in fact, it barely held three chairs and a small table. The girl was tied to the chair in the center of the room, her head resting on her chest and blood splattered here and there on the floor. She looked up at the sudden noise and revealed a bloody gag tied around her mouth, the crimson stain originating just above her right eyebrow and flowing its way down to the dirty cloth.
Her eyes were dull and cloudy as her mind seemed to struggle to understand what she was seeing. However, it really only took a few moments for it to register that Victor had arrived, savior of the day. Tears welled up in those eyes and she seemed to be reaching for him with as much vigor as she could manage while being actually unable to move.
Victor didn’t have time to release her, however, before her pair of captors were upon him. One held a knife while the other leveled a revolver at Victor’s head. Victor wasted no time in flinging a round-house kick at the gunman’s hand, sending the gun flying. The disarmed man was stunned by the sudden movement and froze, making it easy to strike him directly in the face. He crumpled like wet tissue paper and Victor turned to the other man, a larger specimen with a decidedly more frightening demeanor.
“Where the hell did you come from?!” the kidnapper growled, circling Victor. “And who are you? How did you find this place?”
“So many questions,” Victor retorted, his lip curled up slightly. “Who I am is none of your business. Neither is how I found you. But I will always find her, no matter where she is. She is mine and you would do well to put down your weapon before I have to take it away.”
The man chuckled and lunged, knife aimed for Victor’s stomach. Victor nimbly stepped out of the way and elbowed the man in the back as he went by, causing him to stumble. However, the kidnapper recovered quickly and lunged again, this time grazing Victor’s hand as Victor grabbed for the man’s wrist.
Victor didn’t so much as flinch at his wound. He simply wrapped his long fingers around the captor’s arm and flung him to the ground, smashing the man’s face into the concrete floor. There was a sickening crunch as the man’s nose broke on impact and a pool of blood began to immediately form beneath him. Victor was just about to turn back to the girl and untie her when she let out a muffled scream, which caused him to spin around and kick the first man again just as he began to reach for the gun. The man howled in agony as Victor’s sharp shoe connected solidly with his ribs and knocked the wind out of him.
It seemed for a moment that both of his opponents were down, at least long enough for Victor to grab the abandoned knife and cut the girl free. He removed the gag first, followed quickly by her hands and then her feet. Tears streamed down her face despite her best efforts to keep them contained and she collapsed into Victor’s arms. “Can you walk?” he asked, holding her tightly against his chest.
“I…I think so,” she whispered, voice hoarse from screaming.
“Then I want you to run outside. The authorities shouldn’t be too far behind me, if Goldman did as he was instructed. Which he always has. I’ll keep these two busy while you make your escape.”
The girl opened her mouth to argue, but Victor instead covered it with his own. By the time he pulled away from the kiss, the girl was feeling even dizzier than her wounds had caused. “Go. I will be perfectly fine. These two idiots are obviously no more than I can handle.” He pushed her toward the door and despite her intense desire to stay by his side, she gave Victor one last look and darted out of the room as fast as she could.
Each time one of the captors would attempt to get up from the floor, Victor would mercilessly return them to their position. Every ounce of fear and anger was channeled directly into ensuring that neither of the men escaped before the police arrived to take them away. His hand still bled freely but he paid it no mind, seemingly not even realizing he’d been injured.
Probably fifteen minutes passed before the thunder of police boots could be heard on the stairs. Victor exited the room and waved them down, pointing into the room. “The kidnappers are in here. I managed to subdue them for the time being, but there’s a loose gun.”
The police pushed right past Victor and handcuffed the kidnappers, hauling them away before also cuffing Victor. He didn’t protest; it was just standard procedure, after all. They had no way to know what the truth of the situation was until they had time to interview all parties.
Full darkness had fallen by the time Victor emerged with the police. The girl was being attended to by ambulance staff, but no amount of shouting could convince her to stay put when she saw Victor’s face. She rushed to him and wrapped her arms around his neck, clinging to him as if her life depended on it. “I can’t believe you found me,” she sobbed, her tears staining the collar of his shirt red. “I’m so sorry! I shouldn’t have run off like that! I thought for sure I was going to die alone and that you’d blame yourself for me making one bad decision!”
Victor chuckled and kissed her on the cheek. “I will always find you, dummy. Even if I have to do it ten thousand times, I will always find you.”
I've been plagued by Mandy thoughts recently.. I don't really know how to articulate it but she's like if a good person was a really bad person and I'm going insane over her (^_^) she's my poor little meow meow and I'm obsessed with her. Mandy in Saw X who cheered.
SHES SOO GIRL STUCK IN A TERRIBLE SITUATION. its so insane to me she has this like... softness in her that should have been stamped out by now. and its Barely there by saw 3 but shes still There she still has that sliver of hope and desperation that people can be good, that second chances matter and you can change...
like ack... her abusive father setting her up for so many struggles in her future, then getting framed by eric, going to jail and developing a heroin addiction, AND THE WHOLE THING WITH GIDEON??? MY GOD. she was just this perfect storm for john to swoop in and groom into his apprentice
shes just so insanely tragic like... maybe. maybe she could have gotten better. especially if you think about how the script said she was going to therapy 🥹 she could have.. but then john broke her and there was absolutely 0 chance of her ever escaping and its soooo sad you can tell she knows this is her safest option. almost everything amanda does she does in a desperate attempt at surviving, (meanwhile she also acts incredibly passively suicidal which killsss me). so its just.. ack. she thought this was her best option. she was so scared and alone and the world had done her wrong so badly she thought siding with the man who almost killed her was her safest damn option.. GROUP AGONIZING STARTS IN 10.
ANYWAYS MY BAD SORRY I HAVE A NORMAL AMOUNT OF FEELINGS ABOUT AMANDA.. UM... also yes fucm yes im so excited about amanda saw x , we are so fucking back. amanda in her blind faith era lfg!!!!!
hello friend! for a while now i've seen some of ur DnD ocs and i was just curious, do you have any advice for beginners getting into DnD? i've always heard about it, but doing research is a bit overwhelming sometimes with all the different things there are to know?
Anon, you have come to the right place!!! I love talking about dnd! And I absolutely am willing to answer questions about it! And don't worry, I totally get it. There is a lot that goes into DnD. But the good thing is that you don't need to know all of it, at least not at first!
I've only been playing for a little over a year. My first real exposure to dnd was watching Critical Role, but I had wanted to play for a long time before that. That got me pretty familiar with the rules and how the game works in general. (I started with Campaign 2.)
Watching some kind of dnd show (there's a lot of them, so look for one that really captures your heart!) is a good intro because you get to watch other people play, and so you learn the rules and the game flow, but you don't have to worry about keeping track of it all yourself. (Just bear in mind that some of them may be using homebrew rules that are different from the regular ones. But even so, you can still get a feel for the game!) (Like I said, my go-to recommendation for people just starting out is Critical Role Campaign 2, but I've also heard amazing things about Dimension 20, and Not Another DnD Podcast, among others.) (If anyone has any DnD show recs, feel free to put them in the comments!)
Another tip is: If you are in high school or university, check out your local clubs! I can guarantee that any university of a decent size is going to have a tabletop club, and depending on the high school they might also have a tabletop club. They often have "beginner's night" or something similar where more experienced members run oneshots specifically meant to introduce people to the game! (This is also a great way to find people with shared interests and make friends on campus.)
If you aren't in school, check if your local library hosts any kind of tabletop event! I know some do. And if that doesn't work out, then looking for a group online is a good thing to do. The subreddit Looking For Game (r/lfg) is a good place to find groups to play with. (Either oneshots or full campaigns.) It can take a lot of trial and error to find a group and DM you feel comfortable with, but I found a pretty good group through there, and I know several other people who have, too! (There's also a "beginner friendly" flag that people use if their game is geared towards / accessible for people who are new to the game, so check that out!)
I'd say start with a (relatively low-level) oneshot before you dive into a full campaign. Test out how comfortable you are with the mechanics and everything. Also, make sure that you have a good DM for your first experience. Having a bad DM for your first experience will definitely sour it, and make you more reluctant to play again. But, if you do have a less-than-ideal first experience, don't write the game off immediately! Give it another shot. And if you decide DnD isn't your thing, that's totally fine! But try not to let one person ruin the whole thing for you.
But at the same time, if you're not having fun, don't force yourself! It's okay to leave a group because you don't enjoy it, no matter what the reason is! DnD should be fun and enjoyable, and you shouldn't ever feel uncomfortable.
Oh, and one more thing. DnD is far from the only ttrpg system out there! There's one for just about every theme or concept under the sun, if you look. (There's a Star Wars version of dnd, there's Vampire The Masquerade, there's Pathfinder, and those are just the big names! There's also tons and tons and tons of indie ttrpgs!) So if you find yourself not really vibing with DnD for one reason or another, maybe another ttrpg is more your speed!
Please let me know if you do end up getting into DnD! I would absolutely love to hear about your OCs and campaigns!! I really do mean it!! And if you feel comfortable coming off anon, I have a discord server for simmers who also play DnD. It's pretty small and cozy, and we aren't always super active, but everyone there is really sweet. And I've always intended to run a oneshot for some people in there. (I keep saying I'm gonna do it, but I never get around to it. My ADHD is kicking my ass lately. But it is an eventual goal!!)
Sorry for rambling so much. I do hope some of this is useful to you! And like I said, I'd love to hear an update in the future if/when you do end up finding a group!
[CN] Victor’s My Overflowing Heart SSR Event (Day 8)
⌚ This post contains detailed spoilers for content yet to be released on the global server! ⌚
𓆩♡𓆪  Prologue & Day 1 || Day 2 || Day 3 || Day 4 || Day 5 || Day 6 || Day 7
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today is the day for the routine meeting at LFG.
I’m a little drowsy by the time meeting ends, the exhaustion accumulated over the last few days of work taking its toll on me.
Tumblr media
MC: I feel like the greater part of my brain cells has been depleted. So sleepy~
After I’ve said goodbye to the others, I come to Victor’s office, intending to retrieve the notes I had left behind.
The arrangement of everything in Victor’s office is still the same as before; not a single hair is out of place and is spotlessly clean.
The familiarity in the air always makes me feel like I’ll be able to see him as long as I turn around.
Tumblr media
MC: So, this is where the notes were! Mm? What’s this…
[NOTE]
A certain dummy had left her notes here, guess you’d come back for them.
Remember to combine your work and rest balance, and the efficiency will naturally increase.
MC: Humph, clearly you were concerned about me. Why’d you still have to be duplicitous?
My exhaustion from just now dissipates for the most part. I carefully stow the notes and leave at a brisk pace.
My heart grew warm when I saw the note. Next time when Victor goes out, I will quietly slip in a few more notes too. But will I run short of time if I write them when the time comes? Better yet, I’m going to write a few backups in advance now!
Yessss Latin syntax forever! My thesis is on the accusative and infinitive, specifically what the heck is assigning case to the accusative subject of the infinitive. Based on everything I've read so far, nothing generative works to explain it, which is very fun!
I work mostly in Minimalism, but I also think Chomsky and most Minimalists are kind of full of shit tbh 😅 I'm also pretty familiar with LFG, which I kind of like and kind of hate, and I have a bit of a soft spot for dependency grammar because of my grade school education with Reed-Kellogg diagrams lol
What about you?
Omg I love when hypotheses don't work out its a big puzzle 😁
Does a construction-based approach help with the issue??
I have the same stance on minimalism haha so I work on HPSG (generative but still construction based), and within that I work on ellipsis! Right now I just finished a master's thesis on gender mismatches in French ellipsis, and looking for new things for next year 😌
Summer project is to do diachronic syntax though so your Latin puzzle will for sure be on my mind haha
