Alright, I'm finally typing it out. Gather around, all, for the tale of the time my friends and I kidnapped a blueberry and drug them into the Vault of Glass.
Once upon a time, I used to have friends I would play Destiny 2 with regularly. None of them that feature in this story still do, to my knowledge, but at the time we were pretty cracked on the PvE side of things. At the time, we were raiding semi-regularly (when schedules lined up), and as Vault of Glass had just been added to D2 recently, it was our raid of choice that one, fateful evening.
We, like any sane PC player, were using Discord for comms, and so I had hopped into the channel to wait, and headed to the Cosmodrome for my favorite time-killing passtime - blueberry watching. For those of you unfamiliar, blueberries is an affectionate term for new destiny players, named after the color of the low rarity gear they end up decked out in, blue. The Cosmodrome, being the first public area a New Light ends up in, is often a place where you can see adorable new players getting the hang of things.
At this time, the voice channel began to fill up, and one of my compatriots joined my fireteam. We initiated some hug emotes with a blueberry and were just all-in-all chilling when we got word that one member of our team would be unable to join us. Then someone (I forget who) suggested 'hey, what if we took this blueberry along with us?'. It was a patently absurd option - we had no communication with them. Their mishmash of blue armor and crappy weapons would clearly be outclassed by the raid, leaving them unable to damage enemies and likely to die instantly if any of the vex even looked in their direction. But we started to plan a bit - really, we could do every encounter with just 5 people. We'd have to protect the blueberry, but that could be done, theoretically.
I think, in the end, we came to the conclusion that we'd try it, but they weren't likely to stick through it. After all, we weren't (and never did) using the in-game VC, or text chat. The two of us hanging out with them in the Cosmodrome sent a fireteam invite. And the blueberry accepted. So we joined the rest of the team in orbit, and launched Vault of Glass.
I could go into our specific strategies for each encounter, but for the most part it was pretty same-y. We'd use emotes and shooting to get the blueberry into a defensible position, then 5-man the encounter. And somehow, this worked. I have taught many, many people many raids in my time (including many people from this friend group!), and I have never seen someone pick up so quickly on what we needed them to do. With no actual words passing! An absolute, biggest-brained legend of a guardian.
We did get this guy all the way to Aetheon. And with some tricks (and good RNG), we were able to even defeat Aetheon. With some random blueberry nobody knew, or talked to! Unfortunately, they didn't get Mythoclast (can you imagine, though!), but they did celebrate with us with their default dance emote, and we all went our seperate ways. Nobody friended them, we just re-released them into the Cosmodrome like they hadn't just helped us save all of time or whatever the point of Vault of Glass is.
Now, perhaps this was a returning player, or someone on a new alt, who already kinda or entirely knew what was going on. But there's no real way of knowing, and it's just as (if not more) likely that this was a brand new player. Can you imagine what kind of a 'first experience' that new player had with the game? How puzzlingly odd to begin with, developing into concern as the activity we brought them to was clearly beyond them, to the 'fuck it we ball' attitude to stick with it all the way through. A true champion.
And imagine the lore perspective too. Fresh guardian, still got gravesoil in their armor, hasn't been to the tower yet, and they get scooped up into the Vault of Glass? Battle Aetheon? AND WIN!? The reaction from Shaw, or hell, the Vanguard as a whole would be amazing. Our guardians getting reprimanded for taking some fresh new light and dragging them through such a crazy difficult experience they weren't prepared for. Fun stuff to think about.
I wonder how that player is doing now. If they still play, how this particular experience flavored their perception of the game and its community. I know the community at large can be extremely toxic (and worse), but I still strive to embody the community impression we made on that day. Patience and Understanding, being goofy and silly about it, inclusive and kind. Dunno, maybe that's just me being sappy about a fun memory with friends gone by.

I get sad when I think about Kass and Grey before Taken King :,D Grey's trying so hard and Kass is just a lil baby suddenly dealing with the WORST nightmares imaginable.

They'd always been a light sleeper. Ever since Scarlet at least. You'd think after a few thousand years one would get over it but trauma like that lingered. It meant Grey heard the soft knock on their door even dead asleep. "Go look," they groggily told Mr. Grey who was awake shining a light on them. Mr. Grey left and Grey heard the door open.
Fuck what time was it? Did they have to be awake?
"Grey?" Both eyes opened at the sound of Kass' voice, small and weak, in the darkness by their bed.
Grey pushed themself up and looked at her. She was just barely dressed and her purple eyes were wide but not in a way Grey had ever seen before. She looked... afraid. Grey had never seen Kass be afraid of anything. Not in the face of the Hive, or the Black Garden, or Aetheon, nor all of Crota's minions or even Crota himself. "What's the matter, baby girl?" Grey asked her gently.
She played with her hands a moment, nervous. "I-- that is- it's a bit-- I can't sleep. Can I stay with you?" Kass asked in barely above a whisper.
Grey frowned. "Why can't you sleep?" they asked even as they beckoned Kass to join them, lifting the blanket.
Kass flinched, hesitated, and then said, "Nightmares."
Grey beckoned her again. This time Kass did take off her shoes and climbed into bed next to Grey. "What sort, baby?" Grey asked her gently and when Kass reached out to be held they held her.
Kass squeezed her softly glowing purple eyes closed a moment, her mouth set in a slant of a frown. "Ir Yut," she whispered like she was telling Grey her greatest regret. "And Crota," she said his name almost with a shiver of fear in her voice and opened her eyes. Grey squeezed her. "I can see him. He knew me. He recognized me from when I interrupted his original ritual on Earth," she looked up.
"He didn't," Grey said gently.
"He pointed at me. I dreamed he and Ir Yut chased me all through his Throne World and out into the Pit and all through the Hellmouth."
"Well he's dead. Eris said extra dead because we killed him in his seat of power," Grey said soothingly.
"I know," she whispered. Then she made an unhappy chuckle. "Tell that to my nightmares."
"Well I won't let him get you even in your nightmares," Grey said soothingly, rubbing her back.
"I know," and she hugged Grey back.
Grey squeezed her tightly. "Get some sleep, baby girl. I'll be right here, okay?" Kass nodded against their chest. Grey just gently rubbed her back and after a few minutes Kass went limp against them. Only once they were satisfied Kass was properly asleep without nightmares did Grey close their own eyes and go back to sleep.

I know this likely means absolutely nothing to anyone who follows me but I just got my first Destiny 2 Vault of Glass clear (after three hours, being led by our steadfast guide who was a sixteen year old boy acting as sherpa for the first time) and I’m on such an adrenaline high rn

Entered VOG for the millionth time and took care of Aetheon for the millionth time. Came out with my favorite d1 cloak and weapon :)
#day one attempt was rough#but without contest mode it’s pretty fun#redoing it again with most of the day 1 crew because I believe in them!

Anyway we got past Templar and gate keeper yesterday with contest mode on. Took is like 14 hours lol.
Also there are little crystal things you can collect through the raid. No idea what it's for.

I’m still busy working on my gift for this year’s Code: Swap, but once I’m done with it you better believe I’m gonna start working on this idea for a destiny au for Code Lyoko that’s been rattling around my brain for the last month. So far I’ve got -
Blade Dancer! Hunter Ulrich (Awoken)
Revenant! Hunter Yumi (Human)
Well of Radiance! Warlock Aelita (Awoken)
Defender! Titan Odd (Human)
Chaos reach! Warlock Jeremy (Exo, designation - Jeremy-4)
Other random little plot points include
- Aelita’s ghost, Pück, was erased from time by Aetheon within the Vault of Glass, but Aelita’s innate connection to the Traveler’s light as a guardian saved her from suffering the same fate despite Pück’s demise.
- Jeremy is the youngest member of Fireteam Lyoko, having only been recently resurrected within the game’s current timeline. The eldest two are Yumi and Ulrich, both of whom were alive and active during the Dark Ages.
- Ulrich is one of the few remaining Blade Dancer hunters remaining after the Red War. Most others tried and failed to defend the Last City, being cut down by Cabal after having their connection to the light stolen from them.
- Yumi being a Revenant Hunter, that being a guardian capable of wielding the darkness, is a constant point of contention between Jeremy’s ghost and many other guardians in The Tower. They view Yumi as being sick or infected by the Dark, while the gang do their best to defend her and her worthiness as a guardian.
- Speaking of Ghosts, Jeremy’s is named Jim (And yeah, I literally just turned Jim into a Ghost bc I love the friendship between him and Jeremy in the show), Yumi’s is named Hoori, Odd’s is named Lilac Bell, and Ulrich’s is Karambit.
- And yeah, they’re all members of a team called Fireteam Lyoko.
- William was a member too, but went missing after encountering the Darkness on Europa shortly before Jeremy was resurrected and joined the team. He fell to temptation and hasn’t been seen by the gang since.
- Sissie is a warlock and aspiring member of the Praxic Order, a group of warlocks hellbent on the destruction and defeat of the darkness. She has an intense dislike for Yumi and her propensity for utilizing the darkness, and views the entire team with suspicion as a result. She’s not as ruthless as Aunor, but still believes them to a threat to guardian activity within the entire system of Sol.
- Finally, Sam is a Hunter that used to be a close friend of Odd’s, until he left the Last City’s Pilgrim Guard - a group charged with ushering new refugees to the Last City - in favor of joining Fireteam Lyoko. She was deeply hurt by this decision, even though he offered for her to join as well, but the entire situation resulted in her cutting ties with him and leaving the Last City.

Lol it's pretty tragic rn
We got one guy around 50 below power cap for the raid, because we wanted to see how far he could get on the first encounter, and then we kinda... Kept going with him. He hasn't even played much destiny, just saw us all on and thought it'd be fun to see what was going on. I don't think he realized what he was getting into lmao
But yeah, we're stuck on aetheon, slowly going crazy, and knowing that we still haven't even done challenge mode yet

Something I think about a lot is that everything our Guardian does is officially canon. So that means, if you suck at the crucible, it's automatically canon that the Young Wolf sucks at the crucible. Like could you imagine?
The Guardian enters the crucible as Shaxx looks on. This is the Guardian that slew the Taken King and his son, who brought terror and slaughter to the universe for billions of years. The same Guardian that felled Skolas, Aetheon, Ghaul, and Uldren. Shaxx proceeds to slam his fists on a table in frustration, screaming in annoyance as the Guardian is OHKO'd again because they threw a grenade by mistake instead of meleeing. Shaxx groans in disbelief when the Guardian trips on themselves while pursuing a foe with spectral blades. Other Guardians who have performed lesser deeds defeat them with ease. They are confused, and frightened.
"The future of the Iron Lord's...." Saladin mumbles to himself as he watches the Young Wolf blow themselves to smithereens with a misplaced rocket launcher for the third time this match.

Species of Aetheon #1: The Pindragon
I've decided to start trying out Tumblr! For my first post, I'll show off one of my drawings for a species I made for the fantasy series I'm planning, which takes place in another world called Aetheon.
The pindragon is a Creature of Light, meaning that it brings light to the world of Aetheon. These cute and fuzzy creatures are found in the mountains of Zhemburg and harness the power of the sun. They're quite friendly, playful, and slightly larger than a cat.
Legends say that if you perform a truly selfless act for one of these creatures, the pindragon will be loyal to you for life. One example of this is Auggy, a pindragon who was rescued from a trap, though his friend risked their life to help him.

So lately Ryan & I have gotten super into Mega Construx. Because, you know, we’re twelve years old & have nothing better to do with our money. 😅
I discovered they have a Destiny line so I got Ryan one & he got obsessed lol. So he’s getting a bunch of different ones to build to decorate his shelf where he keeps his PS4. He’s got a whole battle scene between guardians & Aetheon from D1 set up now lol
So once Ry was all obsessed he said I need to get some to put on my PS4 shelf on the other side of the living room. And they have Pokémon ones 😍😍😍
Ryan found a guy on Offerup that was selling an unopened Charizard set for $5. So he sets up a time to meet him this morning, drives all the way down to south st Pete (like... a little over an hour round trip) he gets there and the guy is like “oh sorry man. I can’t find it. I must have thrown it away.”
Like??? Why would you not check before you agree to sell it to someone!!! I want my charizard & its $20 in store 😩😩😩
