Gilbert vs. Fenrir vs. Kicho
»» Gilbert vs Vlad here
After seeing how Gilbert, Fenrir and Kicho were all put on the same Ikemen All-stars team this year, I'm just imagining Gil and Fenrir getting into a shoot-out and my god it's epic.
Like just the mental image of Gil twirling his cane to deflect bullets lmfaoooo
Fen's out here dodging Gil's bullets like sonic the hedgehog, jumping and rolling off floors, columns, walls, the frickn ceiling😭
At one point they end up with each other's guns, which is my excuse to see Gil double-wielding
Then Kicho shows up and we're not sure whose side he's on even though we're also sure that he's 10000% Team Kicho. The confusion comes from him stepping in to seemingly save Fenrir by firing a bullet that misses Gilbert by a half of a half of a half of a half of a centimeter. Fenrir, whose sitting point-blank to the gun pointed at him, takes the opportunity to roll off the side of the raised platform they're on and kick Gilbert's gun out of his hand in the process.
The gun lands in Kicho's possession. He looks at it with a completely bored expression. Then he smiles ever so faintly and aims Gilbert's gun at Fenrir's head.
Fenrir is still recovering from being kicked in the guts by Gilbert's Kick of Death. When Kicho points the gun at him, Fenrir sighs and mutters "Give me break, man."
Gilbert laughs and sits down on the edge of the platform and begins massaging salve against his throat where Kicho's bullet grazed him. He gazes down at Kicho. "I'd admire your gall for going after my prey. If it wasn't completely theatrical and contrived. Hehe, well... that has its entertainment too, I suppose."
Kicho pulls the trigger and Fenrir falls back dead. Except Fenrir isn't dead. It would turn out that Kicho and Fen had worked out a deal beforehand for Kicho to pretend to kill Fen so that Fen could use the opportunity to sneak off and enter Gilbert's castle to rescue Alice and Mai. While Kicho distracts Gilbert with Epic Gun Fight Part 2.
Epic Gun Fight Part 2 sees Gilbert dodging extensively and freakishly for the first half since Kicho is operating both Gilbert's gun and his own. Gilbert's gun only has about 2 bullets left, but that's still 2 extra bullets. It's only when Gilbert ambushes Kicho in the shadow of an archway, using his cane to make Kicho drop the gun, that he's able to get the gun back.
Or so he thinks, because Kicho power-kicks it mid-fall into an open grate, and in the same motion pivots so that the tip of his gun is flush against Gilbert's forehead.
Gilbert smiles, as radiant as a summer day. "This has been fun, but I'm sure your friend's found what he's looking for by now." Proving that, of course, he knew what Kicho and Fenrir were up to.
Kicho lowers the gun. "You know that's not why I'm here." He takes something out of his pocket and holds it out for Gilbert.
Gilbert stares at it, his expression blank and lightless. "I see. Get close enough to kill me, then spare me, then exploit that mercy for a favor." He looks back at Kicho and smiles. "Just like I would have done."
Meanwhile inside the castle Fenrir bursts into the dining room... and discovers Emma, Mai and Alice having a tea party and discussing which of their men would win in a gun-fight.
"And that's how Kicho gets a free favor from Gilbert," Mai says as if commenting on the weather. "It's so cheesy and cliche, and hardly how I would go about it, but I love how he analyzes his opponents and uses their own game against them."
Emma giggles. "Well now I want to know how you'd go about it."
Alice puts her teacup down. "Careful, Emma. That almost sounds like you're challenging Mai to a gunfight."
Mai smirks. "I'd be disappointed if she wasn't."
Fenrir stares at the trio. "Wait, so you weren't in any danger?"
--- Mai vs Emma vs Alice Epic Gunfight Part 3 I guess XD Also omg I somehow didn't mention Roderich once in this hahaha. He was sleeping, and Gilbert didn't have the heart to wake him

v - you look pretty stupid

Bakugou lets you pull him to a carnival the just opened, something even his mom hasn't visited yet. He look around, clicking his tongue at all the extras screaming and laughing. He then looks at you beside him, features softening at how your eyes sparkled and how your smile grew even bigger as you took in the view of all the rides.
He feels this unfamiliar feeling of his chest clenching- he suddenly felt a little out of breath and his palms began sweating as well as his tummy doing what felt like flips.
"'Suki! I wanna try that one first!" You point at the teacups that soin ariund but Bakugou doesn't miss the name you call him. He pulls his hand back, oulling you along with him. "Suki?" He asks, raising a brow.
You mentally face palm yourself at your mistake, writing down a mental note to bang your head against the wall once you got home.
"Ah-" You avoid his gaze, "That slipped right out, I didn't know where it came from." You chuckled nervously. "Sorry for that, I'll make sure it doesn't happen again-"
You look down at your wrist when you feel his hand tighten around it as he listens to you talk. He looks to the side, glaring at nothing. "I didn't mean- You can just-"
When he stops talking, you see the tips of his ears turn the faintest red, making you smirk. You lean towards him, tilting your head to the side to get a better look at his face. "Do you want me to call you that nickname, Katsuki Bakugou?"
His eyes snap at you and the soft look he had on just now is immediately replaced by an annoyed and angry one. "Of course not! Why would I want you calling me that?! It sounds stupid and-"
"Alright, alright." You laugh it off, "Let's just go enjoy the rides, alright? Suki?" You wrap an arm around his, not giving him a chance to reply as you're pulling him to the booth where you get your tickets for the teacup ride.
The both of you sit down, and you couldn't stop smiling in excitement as your heart pounds against your chest. It was a feeling similar to a while ago before the activity started but you anticipated this more.
"Hey dumbass, stopping grinning like that you look horrifying." Bakugou- no, Katsuki says, smirking as he spreads his arms on the edges. "Well excuse me for being so excited!" You squeak the last part when the ride suddenly starts off roughly, your body flying to the nearest thing, more like person beside you.
"Shit!" You yell, placing a hand on Katsuki's chest to try and push yourself off of him but the ride is throwing you towards him, aoinning the two of you in the large teacup.
"Hey dumbass! Get off of me!" Katsuki growls and you can't help but laugh, finding the entire thing hilarious. You lose your strength, letting the ride throw you against Katsuki, your side pressing up against him as you laugh loudly.
Katsuki thanks whatever is up there that you couldn't see the mad blush across his face right now. He's furrowing his brows and glaring quite forcefully as his arm slowly wraps itself around your shoulders.
I'm just making sure the idiot won't fly off the damn teacup. Katsuki reasons with himself, getting even more irritated at the fact that he thought he had to reason with himself.
The ride comes to an end and you're still laughing your butt off, feeling quite lazy as you step out of the circular ride. When you misstep and start falling to your right, Katsuki quickly scoops you in his arms, saving you from any embarrassment or injury.
"Thanks Suki." You laugh, letting him lead you off the elevated place as he quietly grumbles to himself. You continue pulling him towards different rides, may it be short roller coasters, long roller coasters, high roller coasters or wet roller coasters where they spray you with water as you come down from the hill.
By the time you finish with the rides, your stomach is growling and Katsuki is pulling you towards a tokoyaki and karaage shop. He sits you on the bench beside it which gives you a beautiful view of the river as the colorful and pretty carnival lights reflect on the dark waters.
"Dumbass." He calls, handing you your serving as he takes a seat beside you. You pull your feet up, sitting cross-legged on the bench as you happily eat your food.
"Carnivals in Japan are much more fun." You say, smiling up at the sky full of stars. "They're also prettier."
"But aren't there more rides in the US?" Katsuki asks, munching on his own fold. You shrug your shoulders, "Then I guess tonight was more fun cause it was with you." Your eyes widen at your words and you feel your body physically stiffen at them. You blink a few times, trying to think of a good excuse.
"Did you just confess to me?" Katsuki smirks, looking at you sideways to which you narrow your eyes at. "Can't I have fun with a guy without him misunderstanding it?" You roll your eyes playfully as you continue eating your food, as you feel your heart about to punch your brain.
Katsuki eats his food aswell, but not after frowning at your words. Misunderstanding? Am I simply misunderstanding this?
"What kind of stuff can I buy here? You know, as a kind of souvenir?" You ask, standing up and extending an empty hand at the blond. He looks at your open palm with a raised brow before you motion your eyes to his now empty food carton. He stands up, huffing as he takes yours to throw both of your trash himself.
"My mom likes to buy fans. But I personally like getting keychains." He leads you to a booth where they sell multiple stuff; keychains, hairpins, fans, even kitsune masks just like the one with your costume.
"Hey Suki." You call him, pulling him out of him choosing a keychain for himself. He looks up at you, eyes widening as you tuck your hair behind your ear, showing him a pretty sakura themed hairpin you have on. "Does it look good in me?"
Katsuki's eyes are wide, his pupils dilated as a faint blush appears on his cheeks. There's that damn feeling again. His palms are sweating, his heart feeling like it's about to beat right out of his chest, his stomach is doing somersaults and his breathing is irregular.
"Pretty..." He mumbles, causing you to raise a brow?
"You think I look pretty?" You tease, laughing before you take it back. Your smirk disappears when you see him slowly nod a little. You raise your brows as you feel your heart pick up its pace.
He thinks I'm pretty-
"...stupid. You look pretty stupid." Katsuki covers himself, looking away. You roll your eyes at him, putting the hairpin back where you took it and taking a sakura themed keychain and fan instead.
"Ass wipe." You mutter at him before bringing your stuff to the counter, paying for it.
The two of you walk in silence together, you're busy looking up at the stars to notice the stone in front of you, causing you to trip. Before you fall to the ground, Katsuki pulls at your wrist, saving you from the fall. A thick feeling of deja vu goes through you as you jut your lower lip out into a pout, trying to recall when this happened last.
Ah, the teacups.
Without even realising it, the two of you reach your apartment building. You look up at it, the growing feeling of not wanting to leave the angry blond's side getting heavier by the second.
"Get in already, dumbass." He motions his head towards the building, usual glare in his eyes. You turn around, smiling at him. "Hey thanks for tonight. You really helped my homesickness." You say, turning back around to walk inside your apartment building.
Before you get in, you look back at Katsuki who's still standing there, making sure you got in the building safely. You wave a hand at him, earning a middle finger from him as you chuckle and enter the place.
The warmth of your apartment was nothing compared to the warmth of being with the blond tonight. You felt so at home, he felt so right and everything felt so nice this whole night.
As you stripped to wash up before going to bed, a paper bag falls off the pocket of your uniform's vest. You pick it up, pouting your lips as you open it. It's the sakura hairpin you tried on a while ago. How'd it get here? You don't remember buying it and you don't remember Katsuki giving it to you- no, he slipped it in your pocket when he saved you from the fall earlier.
Clever guy.
You put on the hairpin, snapping a photo of you winking at the camera with your head turned to the side a little to show off the adorable hairpin attached to your hair.
you: *image attached*
you: thanks for the hairpin suki ;)
you: thought you said i looked pretty stupid?
rubies: no i didnt
you furrow your brows.
you: nu uh. you said i looked pretty stupid a while ago
you: you think i look like an idiot with this hairpin on -_-
rubies: you forgot the comma
rubies: dumbass
You tilt your head to the side, feeling the wheels turn in your head before the lightbulb finally lights up. Now you got the message. You smile, widely, feeling your face heat up and the butterflies in your stomach go crazy as you recall him in that moment, just staring at you, completely awestruck.
"You look pretty, stupid."

Part 10
The very day the rest of the guards that Steve had contacted arrived. He gathered them for a meeting to brief them on the job. He was worried about the group that had taken you out of action for a while.
You had begun to suspect that Zemo knew exactly who they were and what they wanted, but he hadn't informed you about them at all. Since it wasn't deemed important enough for you to know, you didn't ask.
You had been excused from Zemo's side, reluctantly for him, to join Steve and Bucky outside.
The boys were stood with their hands behind the back watching the new lot get used to the grounds. It was important they knew their way around.
You came up beside Steve.
"Morning."
"Morning, Y/N," he smiles.
"How is it being Zemo's personal bodyguard?" Bucky asks.
You chuckle. "So far so good. No issues to report."
"And in the romance department?" Bucky asks, grinning like a fool.
"Non existent, Buck. Don't be silly," you scold him.
Steve is smiling.
"Not you too, Rogers."
"I'm sorry, Y/N, but I think Bucky is right. I honestly believe the Baron may have feelings for you."
"Why would he? He hated me when we met."
"You saved his life," Bucky reminds you, "that is plenty enough to change a point of view on someone."
You sigh.
"I suppose."
You knew it was probably true just from the way he had been treating you. You felt less like a bodyguard and more like a guest. Even you could tell he was reaching for any excuse to keep you near him.
You would just go back to being the professional you were and decline politely, having excuses of your own to do other things.
He was your boss.
"Nothing is going to happen, so no point in bringing it up any more," you tell them.
"You sound so sure of that," Bucky says.
"Because I am."
Neither one of them mentions it further. The new group finish their tour of the outside grounds, and it's here you decide to go back inside, leaving Steve and Bucky to show them the rest.
Bucky watches you go, feeling bad about teasing you, but also not because he knows it's true.
You pass Natasha on tour way back inside.
"Can I join you?" She asks.
"I don't see why not," you chuckle.
The pair of you walk in perfect sync as you head upstairs. The house is quiet as you walk your usual route.
"Are you not scared they'll come back?" She asks, looking at you from the corner of her eye. Natasha had been worried sick after you were rushed off to hospital. There hadn't been much word about your status until they all got back to the hotel. She was scared it was going to end badly.
Then they heard you were stable and she let out the biggest sigh of relief. It painted them that they couldn't all come and visit you, but Steve assured them you were on the mend.
You sigh softly.
"Honestly, yes."
Natasha didn't miss the way you reached u pro your shoulder for just a moment. Obviously it bothered you everytime that day was mentioned.
"But in here to do a job and I'll do it again if i have to. My life for his."
"It's a reckless job, isn't it?"
You smile softly. "Yes, it is, but it is also the most rewarding. We are duty bound to protect someone and I did just that."
She smiles.
"And I'm sure you'll be rewarded handsomely for it too."
You narrow you eyes at her, lips tugging into a frown.
"What do you mean by that?"
She laughs a little. "The Baron fancies you, perhaps your reward is, well, him."
"You too? Natasha, no! I just told Steve and Bucky off for this. Even if he does like me, I won't peruse it. I'm here to do a job, Natasha. He trusts me with his life."
"Maybe he just wants to keep you close to him."
"You're being ridiculous," you sigh.
The pair of you reach Zemo's office. You stop outside and turn to your dear friend.
"Trust me, nothing is going to happen here."
She looks sceptical, but Natasha doesn't say anything and just nods once. She gestures to the door and leaves silently.
You hold your head up high and knock on the door.
"Come in."
You open the door and enter. The door closes gently behind you, and then you make your way over to the Baron to stand behind him.
You ignore the way he watches you do so. You can feel his eyes on you as you pass him.
Helmut hides his smile as he looks back down at his work. He was glad you were here. He had missed your presence in the room. You had this calming affect for him and he noticed it greatly when you were gone.
He hadn't got very far with his work. For every time you leave him, his mind lingers on you. He wonders what you'll do, where you'll go, if you think of him as he does you.
Whenever he thought about that last part, his heart was skip a beat.
Zemo's thoughts came to a halt when another knock sounded at his door. He gave them permission to enter.
A maid enters. One you've seen around the estate. She is carrying a tray with a tea set on it. The maid approaches the desk and places the tray down. Helmut thanks her quietly and she then excuses herself.
Helmut pours himself a cup.
You admire the little tea set. It's all matching. All made from china. White with flowers painted onto them in an intricate design. Simple, yet classy.
Too busy admiring the teacups, you only just realise he is pouring another cup.
"Sit."
You glance at him quickly. He was obviously talking to you as you were the only other person in the room. Not wanting to argue with him, you take a seat opposite him, all while keeping your wits about you just in case.
Helmut places the other teacup in front of you. You stare at it.
"For you," he chuckles softly.
"Um, thank you, sir."
You accept it. You sip the hot contents of the cup and hum softly. It was very nice. You hide your smile behind your cup, hoping he wasn't looking at you right now.
Problem is, he is always looking at you when you're within his eyeline.
"How did you get into this line of work?" He asks, desperate to get you to open up to him. He wanted to know about you, hear you say more than a few words to him.
"Steve Rogers is a dear friend of mine. He was looking for recruits back when the agency was just starting. I told him I was interested, but I had no training. He assured me that was alright and introduced me to Natasha. She became my mentor. Everything I know, I learned from Nat. Within the first month of my employment, I received my first assignment. I've been a bodyguard ever since."
He smiled. This was progress. You were opening up to him and he was happy.
"Then I should thank Mr. Rogers and Miss. Romanoff," he says, smiling softly.
"Thank them?"
"If not for them, I wouldn't have such a hard working and efficient bodyguard."
"With all due respect, sir, you didn't think that way when we met."
His smile fades. Of course you wouldn't forget about that. First impressions are important and he had ruined it by thinking lesser of you.
You must really hate him for that.
Perhaps he didn't stand a chance with you after all.
"Yes, well, opinions can change," he said, lowering his cup onto it's saucer on the desk.
"Your opinion changed because I took a dee bullets for you. Your opinion changed because I did my job and saved your life."
Normally you would never talk back to your employer, but you wanted him to know how he made you feel.
"I apologise."
"Apologies are unnecessary when I'm doing my duty," you tell him.
"Do you ever not think of your duty?"
"No. When I'm working, all there is to think about is the job."
Helmut looks at you with a longing gaze, not that you see it as such.
"Are you happy?" He asks. The question startles you.
"Happy?"
"Happy doing your duty? Happy putting your life before others. Do you not think your life as important compares to those you serve and protect?"
You stare at him blankly.
"My purpose is to put my life before others. I do what I do because I'm good at it. It is my job to put myself before others in dangerous situations. I wouldn't want to do anything else. I'm here to keep you safe, sir."
Silence falls between you.
All you think about your job and for some reason he hates that fact. Right here in front of him, you aren't your own person, you're someone who lay down their life for whoever employs them.
Once upon a time he had happily felt the same, laying down his life for his country, but things changed. He changed.
"Anything you want, just say the word and I'll get it for you. I want you to be happy in my home."
Our home. He wanted to say our home, but that felt far too personal, even of you were living here now.
You put your cup down and stand up.
"If you'll excuse me, sir, I have to make my rounds."
You leave before he can say anything.
Helmut stares at your half empty teacup. He sighs. The most you had ever said to him, and he had only managed to upset you further. Judging by the way you left, he may have offended you.
His heart was going crazy.
"Why must romance be so difficult?" He sighed, sitting back in his chair.
He just wanted to know you. What a fool he was.
Sitting there in silence, he made a silent promise to make it up to you. He had a mission of his own now.
Helmut Zemo had accepted that he liked you, and now he just had to win you over. He would start tomorrow, when the day was fresh and today could be forgotten.
He was going to show you who he was underneath the title of Baron.
Helmut Zemo was going to win over your heart.

24. Sayonara
It's been years. Five years, ten months, twenty-three days, four hours… He can still count the minutes and seconds if he likes but he'll miss her more.
The last time he knew something about her, she finished her art study in New York and transferred to Canada. After that, he isn't sure what happened to her.
He went to the country once, telling his friends that it's for business and nothing personal, which they obviously didn't buy. In the end, it was a vain attempt to find her. Like finding a needle in a haystack and even Taeyong said that it's a suicide mission.
One time, his stepmother visited him and asked help to see her ex-husband to which he agreed. He doesn't have any choice anyway, he also wanted to know what happened to him. And he promised her, that he will take care of his stepmom.
It was weird to see the two of them, the foster parents of the girl he loved, sitting in front of each other and talking like matured individuals. Didn't they realize that they just ruin someone's life because of their irresponsibility? But what the older man said surprised Yuta, "If ever you see (Y/N), can you tell her that I'm sorry? I know it's not enough but I just want her to know that I'm proud of her even if she's not my daughter." If only she's here to hear that. He'll probably get to see her smile again.
And now, he badly wants to see her.
--
Yuta smiled to himself as he sat on the business class of the plane to Paris. Their first encounter. She's so fearless back then, shouting in front of a guy who just molested a girl. And she caught his eye that instant, like a magic spell that binds him to her. Koi no Yokan, his premonition of love. And he's still in that bind. He's still in love with her. Only (Y/N).
Paris only brought memories of her. That time he was seated in front of a pastry shop and his eye caught a familiar girl entering the opposite coffee shop. It was still a mystery why he's infatuated with the girl who rejected him at the plane. But that coffee shop date made him sure of one thing, he's not just lusting over this girl. He liked her smile, he liked how sincere her smile is that made his heart hurt. He missed those smiles. He missed her so much.
Maybe it was too much reminiscing that he forgot to keep an eye on one thing, a person actually. "Fuck, Shiho!"
--
(Y/N) was still astounded at how Paris looked like the place she once saw in the book. She had been here before but didn't get the chance to tour around because of a certain Japanese guy. Her Japanese guy. Her phone rang and she answered the call, rolling her eyes at the other person on the line. "Yes, I'm already here. Where are you?" By now, she's just annoyed. She should be enjoying this day in Paris, why does she have to meet him now?
She was by a fountain when she saw a young girl crying, seated on the edge of the statue. What is she doing here alone? Where are her parents? (Y/N) crouched down to her height, smiling at her. "Hi." She greeted and the child looked at her, still crying. She's so cute, she thought. "Are you lost? Where are your parents?"
"Otou-chan left me." The young girl said in Japanese that surprised her.
(Y/N) had to smile at that. It's weird hearing the word Otou-chan, she's used to saying it to address Yuta. "Do you want me to help you look for your dad?" She said in fluent Japanese that made the sobbing girl look at her in surprise. "What's your name?"
"Shiho." That's a cute name. "Shiho Nakamoto." What? She wanted her to repeat what she said but a distant voice can be heard calling for 'Shiho'. A voice she badly wanted to hear. "Otou-chan." The young girl shouted in glee, running to the owner of the voice. Shiho Nakamoto? Otou-Chan? Yuta is already married?
Slowly, she stood up without facing him. How can they meet like this again? And really, of all places, here in Paris? "Excuse me, thank you for staying with…" She just nodded at that, trying her very best to not face him. What if he's with his wife? This will be really awkward.
"Noona!" Someone called that made her look to the side. Her savior. She didn't care whether Yuta would realize that it was her but she dashed to where Mark is, holding his arm and dragging him away from the place. "Wait, why?" The younger guy asked in panic.
But she just pulled him until they're inside the museum. "He's here." Mark gave her a confused look and she gestured at the painting hanging by the center of the museum. The guy looked surprised at that, giggling when she looked annoyed.
It pissed her off that of all the paintings that their class made, it was the painting of Yuta that is getting featured in their exhibit. She just did it since she missed him but Mark saw it and showed it to their director that it got chosen as the main exhibit. This is a stupid move. What if he finds this painting? He'll found out that she's not over him yet when he's obviously done with her. God, what should she do if his wife founds out?
And he has a daughter now? She can't believe that someone experienced Yuta's stamina. Well, the kid is kind of cute and she resembles Yuta's eyes. She should have stared at her longer. Who is the mother of that child? Who is Yuta's wife?
---
That night is the gala for the Asian art exhibit that their school sponsored, a collection of artworks from students that depict Asian culture. (Y/N) is really nervous since it's her work that's going to get the main feature. A total first.
She passed by the Southeast Asian artworks, mostly paintings. The West Asian part shows pots and ceramics that would bring you to deserts. She stopped at the East Asian part, suddenly missing Korea as photographs welcomed her. The Chinese vases, as well as the Terracotta Warrior replica, amazed her. And when she reached the Japanese part of the exhibit, someone was standing in front of a certain bowl with gold lacquer, 'Kintsukuroi'.
He looked surprised seeing her in a blue dress, looking as if she really dolled up. Her hair is longer now that he's itching to run his fingers on the threads of her silky hair. "Hi." she chirped. "What are you doing here?"
Yuta smiled then realized that they're conversing in his mother tongue. Did she learn Japanese? He showed a brochure of the art exhibit, given to special guests of the gala. The sole reason why he went to Paris is because of an art invitation that depicts Asian arts. He can't really say no to the art director. "I thought you're in Canada." She nodded, surprised that he knew that.
"I started teaching arts in Canada." Teaching? Yuta was surprised, he thought she's still studying. "These are some of my students' work."
"Oh," Yuta exclaimed, in awe. "That's really good." She smiled, rubbing the back of her neck in embarrassment. Her gaze fell on the teacup with gold, Yuta used to compare her to that. A broken porcelain, his broken porcelain. What is he thinking now? "I'm really proud of you." The sincerity in his voice almost made her choke if not for Mark Lee calling her name from across the room.
She asked if he could give her a minute and went to where the younger boy is, asking who she was talking to. His eyes widened in surprise realizing who it is. "Your Japanese guy." She shushed him up, asking what he needed help from. He gestured to his tie and she rolled her eyes, pulling the piece of fabric from his neck. "I'm nervous."
She skillfully made the knot on his tie, patting it when she's done. "Mina will really like you." The older said that made the younger pout, she had to pinch his cheeks at that. Mark told her to get back with Yuta and she giggled at what he meant.
He said with.
But she can't do that. He's already married, Mark knows that.
"You look happier," Yuta noted that made her stop. "Are you dating?"
He moved on from her. He found another love which should have really happened. It will be awkward to know that she's still in love with the idea of them together.
(Y/N) breathed heavily. Mark is definitely going to kill her. "Yes."
"That's great." He said in monotone. She was scared to look at him. Is he hurt? Is he happy? She hoped he is. "I have to go. I'm going to meet my parents outside." His parents are here? "I'll see you around."
He turned around from her but she tapped her foot. There's a question running in her mind for years. A question, she badly wanted to ask him. And if now, when can she have the courage to ask him that? "Yuta." She called which made him turn to her. She sighed a heavy breath that made him curious. "Why didn't you stop me?" He cocked his head to the side at the question. "When I said I'm going to New York, why didn't you stop me?"
Yuta walked to where she is, taking slow steps until he's in front of her. "If I stopped you that time, you wouldn't have the chance to find yourself." A bitter smile can be seen on his lips. His hand held her cheek which comforted her, Yuta's warmth. "I wouldn't be able to make you happy like this."
--
What? Her eyes looked up at his and they're glistening under the lights. Twinkling. "I'm proud of you, my daughter." And even if she wanted to hug him, he just turned around without a word. Walking briskly to leave the hall.
Her heart can't lie now. All this time, it's still Yuta. It's still him.
"Can I not attend?" Yuta begged his dad that made Shiho look at him, pouting. She looked so pretty in that blue dress, the same hue as her dress. "I might just cry inside."
The older man laughed at that, tapping his son's back. "You should have told her that you're still in love with her." But Yuta shook his head, she already moved on. As she should be. She's happier. There's nothing he can do to bring her back to his life.
He breathed heavily as tears fell from his eyes. The sadness all these years bottled up in this emotion. "Dad…" he called as the older man held him in his arms. "I don't want her to see me like this. Can I just stay at the hotel?"
"Son, this is your last chance. You might not see her again after this." He said that made him look at the older. He's right. It's been years since he hoped for this to happen. And here she is, in front of him. "It's your last chance to tell her everything you want to say. I don't want you to regret this." This might really be his last chance to say everything bottled up inside him these past years.
She needed to at least know that he's still holding on for her.
--
The gala was a classy one, filled with wine and classy people from different nationalities. Yuta was just seated at their table as he watched his parents mingle with the other people they knew.
His eyes frantically tried to look for her but she's nowhere in sight. And why did he forget the face of her boyfriend? Maybe he can spot him in the crowd and ask him if he can talk to her like a true man. Some young girls were looking his way but he's not interested. It's still her that he wants.
Some girls were giggling at him. Great! Because it's funny to see a single guy seated next to a young child as if in a kiddie restaurant. He cursed when he realized that Shiho is nowhere in sight again. Where the hell could that child be? And why is he so distracted?
But before he could stand up, he saw her talking to an older girl with the same blue dress like her. He just watched in awe at how they looked so good next to each other. How natural she looked talking to a child.
If only she didn't leave for New York, they might have a child now. A son perhaps. But will she smile like this if she stayed? Will she be happier if she's next to him?
"Shiho, okasan is calling you," Yuta said that made (Y/N) look at him. The younger girl waved her hands to say goodbye to the older and she giggled at how cute she is. The older tried seeing where her mom is but the crowd blocked her view.
A hand appeared in front of her to help her stand up but she refused to hold it, she might get used to his warmth. He's married, for crying out loud. He should be with his family, not here next to her. "(Y/N)," He called.
She had to prevent herself from tearing up at that. He just called her name, why is she getting emotional? Or is it because she's still not done crying about him? He sighed loudly, "I don't know where to begin but I…"
The lights dimmed as the speaker announced the highlight of the exhibit. (Y/N) cursed that made Yuta look at her in worry. Her eyes were full of horror as he stepped closer to check on her. "What's wrong? Are you alright?" Yuta shouldn't see the painting, his wife and child shouldn't. No one should. But it's too late. Why did she have to forget about it?
(Y/N) was called on the stage by the art director and she gave Yuta an apologetic look. She'll just tell everyone that she's done with these feelings so he wouldn't get bothered by it. Yes. She should do that.
The written speech on the podium was discarded as she closed her eyes and breathed heavily. She greeted everyone in English, wishing that everyone had a nice time looking at the artworks that they prepared. She introduced herself as a faculty of the Art School then started the speech about her getting interested in Japanese culture. "Hatsukoi." She said then stared at one guy in the crowd who was looking at her as well. "First Love."
She smiled, remembering all the times she had with Yuta. When she discovered that warm feeling of falling in love. A feeling she wanted to erase or she'll definitely get hurt again. "They said your first love never dies. True, it won't change." She introduced that made the audience smile adoringly. "But it will die, given the time." A collective gasp can be heard. Even the director was surprised at the sudden shift of her voice. She should have introduced the wonder of first love, to make the audience fall in love. They're in Paris, the City of Love.
"The purpose of this artwork is to show the feeling of first love." She looked at her first love, wishing that her last words would resonate to him. "But first loves can also be painful. So this is my goodbye to my first love." She said with a proud smile but in reality, she wanted to badly cry. If she speaks more, they'll surely hear the strain in her voice. A huge lump in her throat that she cannot gulp down. "Sayonara…" The spotlight shone on the artwork, earning everyone's attention, even his. "Yuta." She whispered away from the mic.
When Yuta returned his gaze at the podium, she's nowhere to be seen. Why is she always shaking him like this? A goodbye to her first love? Is this her goodbye to him? "Onii-chan, isn't that you?" Shiho asked, pointing at the splitting canvas of him surrounded by cherry blossom petals. He attracted the nearby attention as the artist's first love, the subject of the painting. They even complimented her for the amazing art style and that she really made an exact copy of his face on the canvas.
Yuta sighed. So this is it, really. She really did mean it when she said 'sayonara' before, it's not possible that she's really doing her 'sayonara' now. His dad was right, he will regret that he didn't take the chance to talk to her.

Hello!! I am absolutly in love with Rotations and I'm always so hyped to see another chapter posted! Zuko working at the tea shop was my favorite part of book 2 and I'd love to request maybe a Zuko x reader where the reader was a peasant girl who stumbled into the tea shop one day and loved the tea and talking to Zuko she kept coming back and with each visit and conversation with Zuko he starts to fall for her, maybe even takes her on a date? Either way I hope you have a wonderful day!
thank you so much for requesting this and for reading rotations!! i really love this request :)
---
(Y/N) had, quite literally, stumbled into the Jasmine Dragon Tea Shop one day. She hadn’t meant to; but there had been some traffic happening outside of the tea shop (something about cabbages? she couldn’t quite catch everything) and somehow she had gotten physically pushed into the establishment. Its attendees stared down at her and she instantly felt embarrassed and out of place. It was obvious that the kind of people who came here were government officials and wealthy aristocrat. (Y/N) was neither of those things.
She stood quickly and turned on her foot to make her way out. “Wait!” A jolly voice called out to her. She turned to see an old man standing behind her, a menu in his hand and a big smile on his face. “Welcome to the Jasmine Dragon! Please, have a seat!” Before she could say no, the man guided her over to an empty table and practically forced her to sit down. “What kind of mood are you in today?”
“Uh-”
“Perfect! I know just the tea to get.” He snatched the menu away from her hands and moved back into the kitchen to prepare her tea. (Y/N) felt a bit disoriented. She wasn’t quite sure what just happened, but she assumed now she would have to buy tea.
The old man came back to the table with a kettle of tea and a teacup. “My name is Mushi,” he told her as he poured her tea. “I gave you Oolong tea today. You seem like an Oolong girl.”
“I’ll drink any tea,” she said with a smile, taking the hot cup into her hands and sipping. It burned her tongue but the flavor was so nice that she didn’t care. “This is really good!”
“Only the best at the Jasmine Dragon!” Mushi smiled. “What is your name?”
“I’m (Y/N),” she said. “I’ve never seen this shop before. Are you new?”
“We’ve been around for a few weeks,” A younger, dark haired boy cut in from the table across from her. He rubbed it clean and had his eyes trained very intensely on the table.
“That’s my nephew, Lee. Not much of a talker.”
“That’s okay. I’m sure I could talk enough for the both of us.” She finished her cup of tea and stood. “I should get going, but I’ll definitely be back. How much for the tea?”
“First time is free,” Mushi said. “But it’s so good, you’ll keep coming back.” She giggled.
“Bye, Mushi! It was very nice meeting you.” She hesitated at the door before calling out, “Bye, Lee!”
(Y/N) returned the next day and asked Mushi to surprise her. Lee set down a kettle and teacup on her table.
“It’s green tea.” He said, before turning to walk away.
“Is it your favorite?”
“No.” He walked away to help another customer. That was the extent of their conversation on that day.
Every day, (Y/N) returned, and every day she tried to get the quiet boy with the scar to talk to her more. She didn’t know why, but she wanted to know him as more than the boy that served her tea sometimes. She thought that underneath all of that lack of emotion, he might have an interesting story to tell.
Zuko did not like the girl that kept coming to the tea shop. And it wasn’t because she annoyed him, because she didn’t, or because she was rude, because she wasn’t. Zuko didn’t like her because he found her to be too easy to talk to. From the first day he met her, he wanted to share a cup of tea with her and blurt out his entire life story. That was incredibly dangerous, and therefore made her incredibly dangerous. He tried his best to brush her off, to make it obvious that he didn’t want to talk to her, but she kept coming back!
“You’re relentless,” Zuko said to her one day when she was the only one in the shop. She looked up from her teacup, surprised that he was actually initiating conversation for once.
“Me?” She asked, looking around at the empty shop. “Are you talking to me?”
“Is there anyone else here?” He winced. Maybe he had said that a bit too harshly.
To his surprise, she laughed. “Do you think you could take a break for a bit and sit with me? You could have some of my tea! It’s Jasmine today.”
Zuko begrudgingly sat at her table. She poured him a cup and slid it over to him. “I think Jasmine is my favorite so far. It’s just so fragrant!”
“It’s my favorite,” Zuko said as he sipped his tea. She smiled at him again. Why did she keep smiling? He didn’t think he had seen anyone smile as much as she did.
“Thanks for sitting with me. I’ve been trying to get you to do it for weeks now.”
“Why?” She shrugged.
“I wanted to talk to you. So!” She leaned forward on her elbows, propping her chin up on her hand. “Tell me about you.”
“Uh...what do you want to know?”
“Only your deepest darkest secrets.” The surprised expression on his face made her giggle. “I’m kidding! How about...what’s your favorite color?”
“Orange.”
“Ooh, interesting! Why’s that?”
“The fire lilies, in the Fire Nation. They’re orange.” He panicked, trying to come up with an excuse for why he had said what he did. “I’ve seen them in a lot of books.”
She hummed in agreement, nodding. “I’ve seen Fire Lilies in books, too. I think I’d like to see them in person one day, if this war ever ends.” She looked at the clock on the wall. “Oh, shoot! I really have to go, I’m sorry!” She scrambled around in her coin purse to find the exact amount to pay for her tea.
“Don’t worry about it,” he said. She smiled in thanks before leaving.
They continued like that for a while. She would come in and, if Zuko wasn’t busy, he’d join her. He had learned a lot about her from their little meetings. Like how she was the oldest of five children. Her father was a bender who was off fighting in the war. She couldn’t bend, but she loved watching others do it.
“I’d love to see a waterbender in action!” She had said one day. “I think it’s one of the most beautiful forms of bending. Don’t you?”
Zuko shrugged. “I guess.” She continued talking about her family and her life within Ba Sing Se. Zuko didn’t say much during their conversations, but he preferred it that way. He loved hearing her speak. He didn’t think it was possible to enjoy someone else’s voice, but here he was, hanging onto every word that she said.
“Would you like to come with me?”
Zuko blinked. He had been so focused on hearing her voice that he hadn’t been listening for the past few seconds. “What?”
“To the festival! It’ll be so fun. Please?” She stared at him, her eyes bright and shiny, and well, how could he say no to a face like that?
“Okay,” he said, standing to take another customer’s order. She blinked at him in surprise.
“I wasn’t really expecting you to say yes.”
“Do you not want me to go?”
“Of course I do! Meet me in front of the shop tonight, okay?” Zuko didn’t respond, but she knew he would show.
He hadn’t expected to actually have fun at the festival. It was full of people and vendors and dancing monkeys, but (Y/N) held his hand tightly as she weaved through the crowd. She had to lean in close to his ear to talk to him and the closeness of her voice made a chill go down his back.
“They’ve got some of the best popcorn here! You have to try some!”
They purchased their popcorn and sat on the ledge of the fountain, watching as the festival occurred around them. Lights had been strung up in celebration and earthbenders created clay molds of animals for children. (Y/N) dug a handful of popcorn out of the bag and offered it to Zuko. He took a piece and munched happily.
“Do they have celebrations like this back where you’re from?”
Zuko shrugged. “Sometimes, I think. It’s hard to remember them.”
She nodded, taking another handful of popcorn and shoving it into her mouth. “You know, I don’t want you to feel pressured to tell me where you’re from. But, if it happens to be a place that rhymes with Smire Dation, I won’t be upset.”
Zuko turned to stare at her. His eyes were wide with surprise. “You wouldn’t?”
She shook her head. “No. I know that the nation doesn’t define the people.”
“What gave me away?”
“The comment on the fire lilies was pretty obvious.”
“So you knew this whole time and you just kept it to yourself?” She nodded.
“You and your uncle have a great thing going here. It’s not my business to ruin it and it doesn’t seem like you’re hurting anyone, except maybe Mrs. Fong but that’s just because she can’t wait for her tea to--” And then right at that moment, Zuko did something that surprised even himself.
He kissed her. He knew he shouldn’t have, but he couldn’t help himself. He never thought that another person could be so kind.
When they pulled back, (Y/N) smiled. “I liked that.”
Zuko looked away and blushed. She grabbed his hand and laced her fingers between his. “More popcorn?”

Welcome To Wonderland
Tumblr media
Part 1
Genre: Mentions of death, Fluff, Angst...
Word Count: Part 1 & 2 6.8K
Pairing? Red King & Alice
-My twist on Alice In Wonderland for the Tell A Fairytale event by @acewriters!-
Laying in the sun under the giant oak tree, feeling the sun warm my face, I set the book down and look around. The late summer breeze blew my hair around my face causing some of my hair to go in my mouth. I tie some of it back in a loose ponytail and pick my book back up. Midday was always my favorite time to come outside and read.
Getting lost in the pages, I read until I feel my eyelids droop.
“I’m late, oh gosh. Why am I so late on this really important date?” I hear someone say and I wake up startled. It was just me, my friends had left for the day and weren’t supposed to be back until tonight… Nobody else was here.
“Stupid watch, why are you not working properly? You are why I am so late!” I hear this time louder. I get up and peek around the tree. There’s a man with dark green hair, wearing a white button up shirt, black slacks and white nikes. He was walking almost jogging and kept glancing at a watch and shaking it. Does he think that’s going to make it work better?
I’d never seen him before, but maybe he’s cutting through our yard to get somewhere.
“Excuse me, sir?” I call. His head swivels around and his light brown eyes meet mine as he comes to a halt, “Yes? Can I help you?” He replies hastily.
“Are you lost? Are you sure you’re in the right place?”
“Yes, I am well aware of where I am. Thank you for asking. Now, I must go. I am very very late for something and it’s really important.” He starts walking again and disappears in the woods near my house.
“Curiouser and curiouser.” I say to myself. I walk towards where the man went and try to see if he’s within eyesight. Stepping on something hard, I look down. The man had dropped something. I bent down to pick it up… It’s a pendant! ‘To Rabbit.’ the back said. I quickly look up to see if I see him. I don’t see him though, but I need to give this back to him. I put the pendant in my pocket and stare in.
Even though I’m nervous he’s crazy, I start heading into the trees where I thought he went in. Staring and not seeing the man, I began walking.
“Hello?” I yell as I walk. “Sir? Are you here? Hello?”
Walking deeper into the trees, I notice him really far ahead. “Sir! Wait!” I yell, but he doesn’t hear me. I begin jogging but lose sight of him. I continue towards where I saw him last and notices the canopy overhead is getting darker. I can barely see now so I grab my phone out of my pocket and turn on the flashlight. Looking ahead, I notice a dark wood door a few feet away on the side of an enormous oak. It looked like it had seen better days. The door itself had scratches on it and the knob was beyond rusted.
“What’s this?” I walk up to it and hear the man speaking to someone on the other side. How in the world is this possible? I’m going mad!
Just as I’m about to yell for the man, I hear his footsteps jogging away.
“Oh fudge!” I turn the doorknob and it won’t open. I try again frantically, but push on it this time as hard as I can. It reluctantly opens with a loud groan. I thought it was going to fall off its hinges. Opening the door it’s lighter, like I didn’t just walk into the side of a tree that was cloaked in darkness..
What is going on? Where am I?
I turn off my flashlight and notice a path that continues for who knows how long.
I hear voices and duck down to hide behind a shrub. I don’t really want to find out if they’re like the man since he seemed weird enough. For all I know, I have evil forest people living near my house.
Peeking between the branches, I see twin teenage boys standing off to the right, seemingly in conversation. That is, until you hear their conversation…
“Let’s go find the caterpillar guy.” one says.
“No, he always smells like smoke.”
“That’s because he always has his pipe with him and smoking it, smart one.”
“Like you pay that much attention.” The teens get into it and start wrestling with each other. I take that as an opening and sneak away. Getting clear, I continue on the path.
I guess all of the people I find here will be crazy.
I walk, noticing little animals here and there. Most of the time it was quiet.
“Oh great. Now I’m even later. I swear after this I am buying a brand new pocket watch.” I hear in a familiar voice.
“Hello?” I say, hearing the man I’d previously lost.
“Can’t talk right now. Must hurry! I’m so so late.” He says, finally coming into sight. As quick as he was in my sight, he was gone again down the path. I, once again for an unknown reason, try to follow him. I had no idea where he went but I guessed down the path so I took off that way. Coming to a halt, I’m in a dilemma. The path splits off into a few directions….
Attempting to figure out where to go, I grumble to myself.
“Where’re you goin’?” I hear from above.
I look up, startled and notice a man sitting on a branch in the tree, “Honestly? I haven’t got a clue. I’m following the strange man with the green hair, did you see which way he went? Which way should I go?”
Taking a look at the man, he was quite handsome. He had black curly hair and brown eyes.
He seemed cat-like to be honest. I don’t know why, there was just something about him along with a mischievous look in his eyes.
“I’m not sure, maybe you should ask the Mad Hatter and March Hare.” He smirks at me, nodding in the direction.
“Mad? But, I don’t want to go around people you call Mad....”
“Oh, you can’t help that. Almost everyone here is mad. I’m not exactly sane myself.”
“Is anyone really completely sane?” I ask.
“That’s a good question. You’ll just have to search and find out for yourself.” He swings down from the branch and turns towards me, “See you later.” He smiles at me, canines showing and leaving a lasting image in my mind as he takes off into the forest.
"Wait!" I yell towards the retreating man. I look to the direction he showed me earlier and sigh. I guess that leaves me meeting the Mad Hatter…
I start walking, unsure if I should continue or turn back. Looking ahead, the feeling in my stomach told me to go on, but my head was telling me I was insane and I should turn around and go home.
A few feet up, there's a brush pile that blocks the way and looks insanely hard to get around. Knowing it's either that or going back, I stop at it and look back.
"Hmmm. It doesn't look very thick. Maybe I can push my way through?" I say to myself.
Grabbing two branches, I pull out to try to move it and the whole thing opens like a door.
"This just keeps getting curiouser and curiouser."
Walking through I hear laughing, singing and teacups clattering. I smile because it sounds like they're having a great time. Walking ahead, sure I'll find someone to ask about the man with the pocket watch, I come across a small house, covered in different fabrics and colors.
Outside, there were 2 men sitting at a long fancy table that could hold at least 10 people. I guess the table wouldn't fit inside. The table was filled with different types of teapots, teacups, snacks and a cake. They sat there laughing and pouring tea into different cups.
The man on the left, I'm assuming the Mad Hatter, had blonde and pale red hair. It was curly but most was underneath a black beanie that had two cheetah print ribbons hanging from the back. He wore a green puffy jacket and white pants that looked like it had smoky patterns.
The man on the right, which in turn would be the March Hare? He had normal hair, black but a red beret on. He wore a blue, pink, and white tie-dyed hoodie with overalls. As he laughed I noticed the sun shining on his face glistened at certain angles, he has sparkles placed on there.
"No! No no no. I'm telling you, there's no way! Absolutely no way I would help him anymore! He drives me absolutely mad!" The mad hatter says.
"Drives you mad? You're already mad!" I look to the hare and he starts laughing at his own joke. The mad hatter takes his shoe off and throws it towards the other man. Barely missing him but hitting the teapot and breaking it, making them both laugh now. "Well, there goes that one!" The hatter laughs.
At that second, the March Hare looks over and spots me, dropping his smile. I stand there frozen, nervous of how they will react.
"WELCOME! WELCOME! Come! Come sit down." He smiles again, motioning me forward.
"Oh look, a guest!" The Mad Hatter says, clapping excitedly. I walk closer, trying to be ready in case I need to make a run for it. I take the seat closest to the way I came, "Hello. Sorry to bother-"
"No no. Don't worry you're not bothering us. Do you want some tea?" The March Hare says as he waves his hand in the air to dismiss my statement.
“Yes, I’d really like some. Thank you.”
“So, tell us. Who are you?” I hear from March Hare. I wonder why they call him that? He pours me some tea and I take it from him, nodding in thanks.
“I’m Ali.” I say and take a sip.
“Well, Ali, what brings you here to this area in Wonderland?” The Mad Hatter asks.
So I’m in Wonderland? That’s a rather curious name. I wonder why they call it that.
“I was following a man that came into my yard, he dropped something and I wanted to return it.”
“Oh?” They say in unison and look at each other.
“And what did this man look like? What did he drop?” He asks next.
“He dropped a pendant. It said ‘To Rabbit’ on it. So I assumed it was a gift and he wouldn’t want to lose it.”
“Ah. So he was out this way! I thought I’d heard him!”
“We could have stopped him then! He’s probably on his way to the King’s! We should have warned him!” The Hare said slightly panicking.
“We could have. But, he didn’t stop to say hello this time. Not like he normally does, so he must have been running behind on his normal routine.” The hatter stands up and starts pacing, speaking incredibly fast.
“We must find him. Maybe we can warn him before! Maybe the cat can warn him! Ah hah!” He says getting anxious and excited clapping.
“Excuse me? What do you mean? Warn him about what? He kept saying he was late.”
“Oh, oh dear Ali, the king wants his head of course!” He laughs causing goosebumps on my arms.
“Why would he want that?” I exclaim. “Why, my dear do you know nothing? The Rabbit did something no other has done and the Red King called him a traitor! The Rabbit has no idea the king wants to behead him. The Rabbit allowed a-” His eyes go wide staring at me. He looks me up and down and gasps.
“Oh dear. Oh no. Oh no no no.” He repeats. He looks over to the other man and motions to me with his head. The other man’s eyes look to me and he clasps his hand over his mouth. They scramble up next to each other delving into a conversation I couldn’t hear. They each took turns eyeing me, turning their head towards me every now and then.
Maybe they are crazy.
“Ali, are you from here?” The hare asks, looking anxious.
“I am not? Is that the issue?” I ask, trying to piece the puzzle together.
His eyes go wide and he nods.
“She’s not harmful Hatter. She’d have already done something if she were.” He says, still staring at me, seemingly looking through me.
“No? I wouldn’t harm anyone. I just wanted to return something the Rabbit dropped.”
The Hatter sits down with a wild look in his eye and begins to look at me like the Hare. “I think you’re right. Maybe we should tell her and send her on her way?”
The Hare nods and the Mad Hatter starts telling me about how this isn’t the first time that the Rabbit had let an outsider in. It’s not on purpose in any case but he’d been warned that if it were to happen again, he’d be sentenced to death. The sad look in his eye seemed genuine. He continued to say that the last time it was a little girl about 7 years old that had wandered in. . She had been found and the Red King, the prince at the time, had been giving her food and shelter until the queen found out. The Queen was furious. She wanted to kill her then, but the prince stopped her. She was instead marked with a heart shape on her wrist and thrown in a dungeon. The prince was beyond upset, he didn’t think she would make it. The next few nights he would sneak her food and apologize. She was freed as soon as we could and the Rabbit told the queen she’d died. She had left by way of the Rabbit and us, unbeknownst to anyone else and with the Hare’s luck, so the Red Queen wouldn’t take her head. The dreadful woman being who she was, told the prince that she’d beheaded her before he rose for the day and called us insane for trying to say otherwise! Evil witch! She banished us to the outer surroundings of Wonderland. The prince grew spiteful at his mother and us for allowing her to be beheaded, choosing to believe her. He turned cold, then becoming king after she passed, he claimed he’d never allow any other outsider to even so much as step foot into Wonderland or he’d kill them.” He sighs.
“He’s had his heart in pieces since that day. He was only 5, he knew no better, but to tell him that? And for him to hold onto it for that long? She meant something to him.” Hare dropped his head, patting his eyes with a tissue.
I felt a twinge of guilt in my heart and a tear slid down my cheek. I grabbed a tissue and dabbed at my eyes. “So the king wants to behead the Rabbit? For a mistake? Because someone, well because I found my way in?”
“No, because the Rabbit was careless not once, but twice now and the first time his best friend was taken away from him. This time he doesn’t want anyone from the outside world in here at all and will behead both of the ones who are in the wrong according to him.”
“But it wasn’t his fault! Nor was it yours! I wondered why they called you mad. Now, I understand. Wait,” I say, stopping as my thought process caught up, “are you saying that he knows that I’m in Wonderland now?”
“Yes.” They nod grimly, “you need to leave.”
“I can’t. I have to find the Rabbit. It’s not his fault! Either time it wasn’t his fault.” I had the sense of urgency to find the man with the green hair. I felt responsible. I rub my wrists and look at them.
“I’ll leave, just as soon as I go and explain that there’s a hole in his defensive tactics to keep outsiders out and that’s why I found my way in.”
They look at me like I’m insane, “I’m not going to let someone die for me. I’m going to save him.”
“He’s going to die, as will you if he finds you. It’s best if you just leave and never come back.” The hare says.
“I have to try. Help me?” I ask. They look to each other, communicating in some sort of way.
“As much as we want to, we can’t. The guards would get us before we even got close to the castle” The hatter says. I get up, thanking them for the tea and take off on the trail in the direction I’d been heading.
Walking, I feel nervous and shaky. I continue rubbing my wrist, feeling the heart shaped scar I’d wondered how I’d gotten when I was little. Now? Now I know a piece. I want to know more and I have to make things right.
It gets darker the further I walk and I grab my phone to use my flashlight. I have no idea what time it actually is, but I’ve been walking for a while now and was starting to get tired.
“Where do you think you’re going?” I hear in a familiar voice. I look around not noticing the man from earlier that day.
“Hello? Where are you?” I reply. The cat-like man, who the Mad Hatter called the Cheshire Cat oddly enough, stepped out from behind a tree, eyeing me carefully.
“I’m on my way to talk to the Red King.”
“Now, why would you do that? You have no business in this direction. Return to where you came from.”
“I will, once I’ve spoken to the Red King.”
He half smirks at me, showing one canine, “It’s a death sentence, Alice.”
“How do you know who I am?” I ask, wondering if he was listening to the tea party.
“I can be here,” he turns and points to a high tree branch, “or there. You’ll never see me, unless I want to be seen.”
“Good to know that you eavesdrop as well.” I begin walking and go around him. He grabs my arm, smiling and winks.
“Be careful what you say to him young Alice. He’s not the prince he was.” He turns and takes off into the trees, disappearing in seconds as the darkness envelops him.
“How- what just happened?” I stare off to where he had been. I had questions.
I continue on down the path and my flashlight shuts off. I scramble to turn it back before I get too anxious because I’m not a huge fan of being alone in the dark. I see something out of the corner of my eye and push the flashlight button. There stands two small bear cubs, eyeing me. They weren’t much but they looked sad. Their fur was severely matted and they were skinnier for an animal. Once I shined my flashlight more towards them, they ran. I start walking again and wonder how long I've been out here.
I see little animals scurrying across my path, some stop to look at me and I notice how they all look so sad. I want to hold them to be honest. I feel tears well up in my eyes because of the sights in front of me.
Just when I thought I was going to be out here forever, I notice stone walls in front of me.
“This must be the castle.” I say to myself.
“It is.” I hear behind me.
“Cheshire! You have got to quit sneaking up on me like that.” I say, placing my hand on my chest.
“Nevermind that. Leave, Alice. Do not worry about the Rabbit.”
“I will not leave and it’s not just for the Rabbit!” I exclaim.
“It’s for you too? After all these years? You’ve made it out of here once, I’m not sure they could do it again.”
“Cheshire? How do you know all of this? How do you know me?”
“I warned you. Don’t come this far. He’s not the prince you knew. He’s mad. Even more so than the rest of us.”
“I have no idea what’s going on. I can’t remember anything from then. Nothing. I have to know.”
“Then so be it. If you really must know, wait for the gates to open and the guards switch shifts in the tower. I hope for your sake, that you don’t get caught.”
Every time I’ve ran into him, he’s seemed crazy, but now I wonder.
“I hope you’re the one that can stop this mess. Or maybe you’ll be beheaded yourself.”
“I- I will try my best.”
The man turns around and darts off, jumping over the bushes and into the night. I walk to the other side of the bushes where he’d just jumped and lean against a tree. I drift off to sleep before I begin to dwell on what he had said.
I wake to the sound of a trumpet. It’s signaling something. It’s barely light outside but I can see. Looking around, I see the gates had opened and men were marching in and out. I see the last ones march in and I jump to rush in the gate. Looking around with no idea where to go and praying I don’t get caught, I see a maze of rose bushes. I run to them and hide in between walls.
The roses were a mix of red and white. Except, the red ones weren’t naturally red. They had a red liquid dripping off of them. I didn’t want to think what it could be. I’ll stick with thinking it’s paint to spare my mind.
“That’s all it is. He painted the roses red. Nothing else.” At that moment, I hear a man’s voice that sounds familiar. “I swear I didn’t mean to do this your majesty. Please forgive me! Please!”
“No! Silence! You’ve let someone in for a second time and you want to be forgiven again? How am I supposed to know that it wouldn’t happen for a third time, Rabbit?” I hear a man yelling. Is that the king?
I peak around the corner of the wall of roses, looking up to the side of the castle. There’s a huge platform covered in red and black tapestries with the man I wanted to save, bound in stocks. The executioner stood at the back while a man in a red button up military jacket and black pants spoke to the Rabbit. Many men, women and even some children stood below the platform to watch this man be sentenced to death. I don’t understand people.
“You did not pay for the last one, this time you will.” he said as he motioned for the executioner. I had to act fast.

Chapter 38

THE ROAD SO FAR
The EIGHT-Thirty Appointment
John 'Soap' MacTavish
London, UK
Following the events of Shepherd's surrender to authorities, the members of Task Force 141 who went rogue in pursuit of him had been exonerated from treason. This meant that from then on, life would be a little more 'normal'. No more hiding in public, no more lack of equipment, no more secret hiding areas.
This prompted Laswell to recreate the task force she once poured her heart on, with a few changes to its jurisdiction. With Ghost, Roach and Alexandra still recovering, the remaining members were invited to celebrate their success.
"So John, now that 141 is back your main focus will be Nero. Do you want the reassigned members back?" Laswell asked Price while they exited the building. Soap overheard this because he thought he was the John being called.
"If it's still okay and not much of a hassle, then yes." Price replied.
"What about Kyle?" Laswell added.
"No. Not yet. Just keep an eye on him." Price mused and turned to Soap, who quickly turned to focus back on Alex as he pushed his wheelchair.
"Excuse me, Captain Price. Can we talk for a moment?" Samantha interrupted as they stopped on their tracks. Alex turned out of curiosity, wondering what matter they were discussing.
"Hey hey hey. What was that about?" Alex asked Soap and France, who continued walking. Laswell turned to the next right as she already finished her conversation with Price, waving at Alex and the rest of the 141.
Soap chuckled at the CIA. This was about Samantha's surprise for him and he shouldn't spoil it.
"Well, with 141 back maybe she just wanted to know where she will be now. Nero no longer needs the IP Address and she's been through a lot." France reasoned, making Alex frown.
"You know… I want her safe and all but I also want her within my reach. I've lost her far too many times already. I'm not going to lose her again." Alex grumbled making Soap and France look at each other, their faces were worried at their sorry excuse.
"I think Samantha feels the same way too. Maybe she's bargaining for staying at 141." Soap lied, making France question him quietly.
"You know what, Alex? Don't overthink this." Soap tapped his shoulders reassuringly.
"Overthink what?" Samantha inserted. They fell quiet and Samantha slowly asked Soap to let her push Alex as they moved forward, Samantha being excited of what's next.
"Well, we did a great job. I guess." Soap quietly commented sarcastically, earning a soft elbow from France.
"Ow!" he exaggerated and turned to France, his face looked bewildered.
"Way to go, John." She sneered and followed the two on their way to their appointment, riding Soap's trusty jeep.
Tumblr media
The drive to the surprise area consisted of mostly Soap and Francine acting like couples while they drove. Soap could see the two murmuring at each other whenever Soap would argue with France on whatever's going on in the road.
"I always wanted to try out some London restaurants." she mused, looking at the place they just passed by.
"Yeah? I could see you as the fancy kind." he chuckled at his guess.
"What does that mean?" France gave him a suspicious glare. Soap looked at her, feigning surrender.
"I just said it as is. You're the kind of person who would want fancy stuff." He explained, focusing back on the road.
"I-"
"Come on. You don't have to read everything I say between the lines. Sometimes, I'm just a simple man" he whined and Alex and Samantha burst out laughing, causing the two to be quiet.
"Are you sure there's nothing going on with you two?" Samantha asked, making the silence a little bit more awkward.
Soap carefully rolled his eyes toward Francine, who was actually looking down and blushing. He really had no definitive stance on whatever's going on between them, and if you ask him, he'd love to assume that they're already together. But he remembered that he told her that he'll be patient, and that's the only thing that's hindering him from taking her to the next level.
"Well…" Francine croaked, her voice was shaky and Soap was actually worried that she was already under pressure.
"We're here." Soap interrupted, wishing he did the right thing. Alex quickly looked outside to see where they actually were.
"What is this place, Soap? Where did you bring us?" Alex asked and Soap just nodded.
"I'll let your girl fill in everything for you. This was her idea after all and we're here to help her out." Soap replied as he assisted him to his wheelchair and watched the two enter the establishment.
He then knocked on Samantha's door as she was still out of focus.
"There's a coffee shop across the street, we could wait there until they finish." He invited her for another coffee date. Hopefully this time, there would be no more emp phone wielding persons to interrupt it.
"About Samantha's question…" She muttered.
"Don't pressure yourself about it. You actually owe me for saving you, by the way." He chuckled, already opening her door.
France slowly stepped down the vehicle and turned to Soap, her head looked up to his face.
"Look John. There's no other reason I can think of that would make you wait anymore. I really enjoy your company, your personality, and I'm curious about everything else about you. So, if you've been waiting all this time ever since that night, my answer is that I'm ready." She smiled, and John's eyes widened at the sight of her. The message made him hug her tight, lift her up and spin her around briefly while she giggled at the feeling.
"Wow. You don't know how much you made my day, France!" he sighed as he slowly set her down and closed the door and made their way to the coffee shop.
"I missed these so much!" France happily chewed on a slice of blueberry cheesecake, with a few crumbs stuck on the edge of her mouth. Soap smiled as she watched her enjoy the simple things in life, a thing he was always looking for in women.
Most of his dating life were his parents setting him up on business dates and most women there were far too serious. They looked like they haven't enjoyed anything in years. Some of them admittedly loved to have fun, but their idea of fun was far too complicated. Like expensive travels and luxurious shopping sprees, none of them piqued Soap's interest.
However, Francine was the first one who begged to differ. It's like every great idea in John's activity book is enjoyable for her. Simple things such as Netflix, Cinemas and even this coffee shop date, made her smile.
"What's funny?" Francine asked as she noticed the odd smile on his face.
"Oh nothing… you just looked cute eating that whole thing. It makes me want to buy a whole cake and watch you smile and eat that all day." he mused, imagining how things would've been if they weren't in public. He could've been tasting that cake from her mouth already.
He quickly grabbed a tissue and wiped off the crumbs as Francine blushed in embarrassment.
"I'm sorry. I didn't notice it was there." she blushed shyly and looked down.
"Nah… why apologize. I was thinking you were hinting at me to kiss you. Like what most movies and cliché shows would mean." He scoffed and sipped on his coffee.
"Ha ha. Well you could try. As if I'd let you." She smiled bravely, but Soap could see her weakness behind that smile. She's raising her guard up again, and it's always like that when people are around.
"Wow. Umm that went differently." Soap commented, attempting to let France open up. This has been a common trend with her lately, toughening up when people are around but when they're alone, she's still strict but less tense.
"I'm sorry. It's just-" She hesitated and turned to the window.
"Say, how long would it take for them to finish?" She asked. Soap also turned to the building and shrugged.
"I don't know. Honestly, I'm excited for him. They make the best prosthetics around here and it'd make Alex's life easier. It'll look and weigh and bend like an actual leg." he said proudly as he turned to France who was looking at him weirdly.
"What?" he asked as he checked his phone which just beeped.
"Actually, they're almost done. And they're asking for an order. I'll just go get some for them, you stay here." He added, holding the thought, wiping his face and proceeded to the counter.
Tumblr media
The reformed Task Force 141 would soon be back in business as papers were already approved by the board. They'll be situating themselves on American soil as their previous base was compromised by the traitorous General.
As for their last day on English soil, the rest of the team stayed in a penthouse condominium unit owned by the MacTavishes.
"Wow. This is top class!" Samantha mused as Alex plopped himself on the couch, his new leg quickly rested on the table. He's been in it for only a few hours but he already got the hang of it.
Samantha shot a glare at Alex's actions to which he shrugged on, prompting Soap to reply.
"Don't worry Samantha, make yourselves at home. We don't use this place anyway so help yourselves out. I promise it'll be fine." he eased as Samantha slowly plopped down beside him as Alex's arm rested on her shoulders. Soap actually wondered if he could do that to her too, get comfortable, open up, just normal stuff.
"I'll go get tea." he quickly said to himself as his imagination got the best of him as he walked to the kitchen. France quickly followed him to help out.
"Fancy place you got here, John. I wonder how many girls you've brought in here." She mused standing in front of him, helping with the teacups. Soap eyed her for a second and replied.
"Honestly, I can't count. I used to stay here when I studied and that was years ago." he replied as seriously as possible, looking at the changes on her face. She's actually jealous.
"Yeah. Figures. I saw your photos from earlier years. It was no doubt you'd have a lot of women over." She chuckled, nervously at it. Soap saw through her as she started to get curious about his life. A sign that she's ready to stop lowering her guard. Soap on the other hand, wanted her to feel special. Asking her out as soon as possible would make him come out as a desperate one, so he planned to do it the long traditional way. Which he actually despised, he would want to hug her so tight right now and it was already killing him.
"What about you? How many different rooms did you wake up to already?" he asked, changing the subject as she was already starting to feel bad about her question.
"Me?! Only a few. And most of them were owned by you. I've been very serious about my life choices that I never let myself loose." she sighed as Soap raised an eyebrow.
"Let loose? Like going out to parties?" He added.
"Yes. But broader. Like letting myself loose. I've always followed the path I wanted to be in, not letting any distractions bother me." she explained, blushing at it like it's a secret she was too shy to tell. Soap on the other hand, didn't quite get it.
"So you mean…" He tilted his head.
"Yes. Since birth, I never had a boyfriend." she looked down in embarrassment for the second time today.
Soap gulped. He didn't actually know how to respond to her statement. Sure he wanted to be the first one, but now wasn't the time. It would feel forced. And he wasn't a fan of forced relationships.
The kettle whistled and the two of them quickly responded to it as they both reached out for it, their hands met just by the handle.
"I'll take care of this one." She said as Soap slowly let go of her soft hands and watched her pour it on, carrying it to Samantha and Alex who were already giggling through a romcom.
"Way to go, John." he muttered to himself with a sigh as he ran his hand on his hair.
The day actually felt worse as France continued to remain quiet towards Soap as she invested herself on the television, third wheeling on Alex and Samantha.
Soap pondered about the words he chose to say to her and those he didn't over a steamy shower.
With the place having only two bedrooms, it was inevitable that France would sleep beside him but he also considered sleeping on the couch to respect her privacy or something like that.
As soon as he exited the bathroom, he saw France already tucked on her side of the bed, scrolling through her phone.
"Hey there." he muttered as she rolled her eyes to him and back to her phone.
"Hey." she said nonchalantly, her eyes dead focused on her screen. Soap quickly grabbed his nighttime clothes and slipped them on.
"Are you in any way excited for tomorrow?" he asked, trying to keep her from interacting with him.
"Yeah. A little." she said as she turned to him and smiled.
"Listen, about earlier today, in the kitchen..." he said.
"I'm not mad, John. I just wanted to say it out there so you could understand me."
"Tell me what you feel."
"Embarrassed."
"Why?"
"Because I looked like a fool earlier. When I told you I was ready and now I feel that you're the one who isn't. You told me you would wait but-" Soap placed his hand on her face, gently touching her cheek.
"France. You don't have to worry. You're still the one I'm thinking about every second. I just… wanted to do this the slow and steady way, where I would show off how worthy I am for you. I want you to enjoy the whole John MacTavish Experience." he smiled and she slowly turned her frown upside down.
Soap wanted to take a picture of that smile and plaster it all around the room as his heart started to pound like crazy, his face unknowingly moving closer to hers. They both started to close their eyes as they let their lips do the talking, but in a quiet and intimate way. Soap felt France's greed for his kiss as she slowly learned how to beg for more of him. It was true that she had no experience on these things but something told him that she's starting to learn some tricks herself.
Soap didn't hesitate to retaliate as she released a soft groan, a sign of her being content as her hands slowly grazed his arms, her thumb softly pressed his biceps, digging deeper as their tongues clashed. After a few more seconds, they both broke their kiss as they gasped for air.
"Yeah. Go sleep on the floor before we do something stupid." She giggled and Soap nodded in agreement as they quickly shuffled about, set their beds and called it a night.

The Yule Man (5/7)
Told by ME
This was meant to be a short story, but it became too big, so I separated it in seven parts. I want to turn my blog in a space where I can share my writting every once and a while.
This is the first time I post one of my stories on a public space. This is the first time anyone besides my sister will be able to read, so I'm pretty exciting and anxious. I want honest criticism. I hope you all enjoy it.
Tumblr media
On the Solstice Eve of that year Chris arrived back in Arnsberg close to the old bridge. Once again, he dressed in a long fur coat and dirty beggar clothes, carrying an old bag. He touched his face and discovered his shaggy beard hadn't changed at all. Deep down he still had hoped things to be different.
The town changed even more from the last time. Entire neighborhoods seemed to have withered away. Filthy tenements with shattered windows and people dressed no better than him. Beggars and homeless children scattered everywhere. Pain and sorrow stamped on everyone's faces.
Tumblr media
"What happened here?"
He walked faster as he could until he reached a church in a better part of the town. Exhausted, he rested leaning on a statue of the Silver God. As soon as he saw him, the priest shoved him away as a dog. Somethings never change at all.
He wandered in those streets, until an old woman stopped him. She looked exactly like the grandmas in Sophia's picture books.
"You're the Yule Man, right? I know her." The old woman chuckled. "She told me if I saw you, I should send you to this address."
And she gave him the address and went her own way.
"Mia?" He looked to the piece of paper in his hands.
The address lure him to a small building downtown. Candlesticks illuminated the windows. Rows of holly and mistletoe were hanged through it with care. The sign in the door announced the place to be closed, yet they forgot the door open.
A huge man dressed in all black from the head to the toe stepped out of the store. On his way out he bumped with Chris.
"Happy Yuletide!" He took off his bowler hat to greet him, when Chris thought he saw all the evil of the world in his eyes.
He then disappeared in the mundane crowd. Chris entered the store, without knowing what he had saw.
Still confused, he called:
"Is anyone here?"
He saw full-body mirrors, measure tapes and cushions lying on the floor. Pieces of fabrics were scattered everywhere. Some carefully sorted and saved in shelves and cabinets. Others dropped over wooden tables. Someone had engraved dozens of needles on the heads of the mannequins. That unsettled him.
Tumblr media
A woman in a purple dress shirt turned to him from the balcony. Seeing her face drove all his fear and worries away. In what seemed like the interval between seconds, he jumped to her arms, which closed tight around his body. He had returned to Mia.
He glared at her. She didn't look like the rich girl he had met. Her clothes showed simplicity this time. Modest and simple. A purple coat and skirt, covering a blue waistcoat.
She served him a cup of hot cocoa. She knew exactly what would fill him with happiness and made him warm. By the look in his face, she did it right again. She brought him to a small apartment over the store. The place stroked as tiny, yet still cozy and not uncomfortable at all. Chris saw a moderate Yule tree with some Yule Goats around, and he knew Mr. Hayek lived there.
They sat by her blue coach. He made a silly face that said to her. "C'mon, tell me what happened."
She took a sip from her teacup and started.
"After the Yule, I took my part in father's inheritance and left the shrew alone." She told him, and both on that room felt deep pride for her.
There was a sense satisfaction in her face. He loved finding that in her. Chris managed to smear himself with the drink and it made her happy.
"You're a tailor now?" He teased her.
"Being a writer wouldn't work out for me." She smirked.
She gave him a white blouse.
"Dress it."
From the bathroom he came as handsome as she remembered him. Mia struggled to keep her good form.
"I didn't say to shave the beard. You can keep if you want."
"I don't want!" He winked to her.
She continued telling him her year.
"I bought this place from an old woman. She wanted to retire and pass more time with her family. She actually helped a lot setting all this up."
He turned to her.
"Was she the woman who bring me here?"
"Possibly." Mia gestured with her shoulders. "I told everyone that I knew that if they saw you, they should give you the address of this place."
"And who was that man I saw getting out of the store. He creeped me out."
Mia grew quiet. She exhaled. Talking about him never brought her any pleasure.
"It would be Franz Müller, the Cat’s-eye. He's a loan shark who thinks a lot about himself. Each month me and all business in the neighborhood have to pay his fees. Don't think much about him, most of the time he just takes the money and leave us alone.
The question frightened Chris.
"What happened to the town?"
Mia shut her eyes.
"Economic crisis, and my father can't help them this time."
"What about the ball in the Hayek’s mansion?"
She raised her voice to him.
"Which ball!"
That sudden change of mood made him jump out of his place.
"Sorry, mother closed the gates of the mansion to the town. She's still rich. Made a deal with my father's business partners. She guaranteed hers but forgot about everyone's else." She said full of deep resentment.
"I kind learned this by myself because you. I don't want to brag, but I'm good at this." She continued. "I bought this place. Learned a trade. Started to work."
"So, you're a working-class woman now?" He smirked.
"It's what it looks. I still have part of my father's inheritance. And with the work I got I can sustain myself quite comfortably for quite a while."
Night had come. Chris released his bag over her terrace, filling the sky with the magical snowflakes. All the town saw the light and cold dash up into the clouds. Billions of ice crystal dancing and flowing through the air. Mia never got tired of seeing that scene.
She launched the Yule Log into her simple fireplace, and they both sat close by it.
"I want to give you something."
She gave Chris a box. A beautifully wrapped present.
"Happy Yuletide." She couldn't wait to see his reaction.
He opened the box. A tiny bottle full of shiny white sand inside, and little seashells keeping it in good company. He knew exactly where they were from. His eyes filled themselves. He started to cry, to sob even, and still laugh of happiness. He hugged her, and he didn't let her go. His first Yule present ever.
They sat on that place for hours, and still hadn't ran out of things to say to each other.
"Your mother?" He asked.
"Still angry with me. After a time, I stopped trying to save our relationship. It wasn't worth it in the end. I still get to see my siblings. Will take them to Yulesing tomorrow. Without the Solstice Eve Ball, I worry how they will spend the holidays."
Mia explained to Chris how things had got different. This year she couldn't take him to party through Arnsberg.
"I don't care. I only want to be near you."
They stayed hours doing completely nothing. They enjoyed each other's conversation and company in general. The cold was the best sensation ever and the room was as cozy as it could be.
In the end of the night Chris tasted Mia's lips. She had thought they would never come to that. She led him to her room, where she felt his body in hers. Soft, tender, perfect.
They stayed in bed hugged to each other. Through the window in the wall opposite to them they could see the snow slowly dressing the world in white.
"I love you." She said resting her head on his chest.
He felt physical pain saying that:
"This isn't love. It's just a romantic fantasy. What you have for me isn't real. I'm not real. You can't love a person you only spend thirteen days within the whole year." He forced a small laugh.
Her mouth twitched.
"I can if it's true love."
His forehead puckered.
"You don't have to put up with me for the rest of the year. We don't go through the same stuff other couples go through. When the holidays are over, I'm gone. I'm won't think, I'm won't feel, I won't remember a thing. I won't be."
"Chris!"
"Sorry. What we got are only moments."
"So, why are you so against enjoying them. In general, everyone's life is just a moment. They live, they die, and it's over. At least I can enjoy a time with you. For me it's already worth it."
He closed his eyes.
"I'm dying to go to Lichthafen City with you."
He gave her a faintly smile. The room then became quiet.
In the next day they went to take the Hayek children to Yulesing. Mia knew very well that Chris loved it more than the children. Her siblings were nothing more than an excuse for doing that. Yet, he loved her siblings. They stayed with them for half of their days together. They had fun.
In the other half they stayed alone in Mia's apartment over her tailoring shop. Cuddling in her bed, eating sweets, and watching the world through that window. Best days ever, for both of them.
The Yule Log turned to ashes. Time to go again, and again in the next year he returned, in the exact same manner. Time passed, and he left, and left, and still returned to her. Each year, thirteen days only.
Chris watched the town change and change around him, and only he stayed the same. In a wink of time, Sophia, Fritz and Thomas started to leave childhood. How much that stroked pain in him. Even Mia started to look more like his older sister than his lover.
Poverty spread through the town as if a disease. Good and respectable neighborhoods crumbled to ruins before his eyes. Organized crime and urban violence turned Yulesing a thing of the past. Mr. Müller became much more than a simple loan shark.
Everything changed, less him.

Jefferson made his way down the dimly lit hallway of the medical facility careful to not make much noise as he walked. It was almost four in the morning but not all of the patients were sleeping. Most of them were insomniacs and so out of their heads they didn't know their own names much less the time of day. Jefferson needed to be quiet and quick in accomplishing what he came to do that night. He had convinced the guard to let him in so that his key card wouldn't show that he'd swiped it at the door and threw in an extra bribe to make sure the security tapes were altered. Sure this place was full of people who wouldn't be missed and "accidents" happened all the time but having a patient go missing in the middle of the night was something the government was on quickly. Jefferson had to made sure he covered every track and was thankful he had a charming personality so no one would suspect him first.
He entered the girl's cell quickly, leaving the door ajar to make his escape easier. She was sleeping on her side, facing away from him. Her breathy was steady and she looked almost peaceful save for the occasional shudder caused the draft. The government hadn't funded the facility with enough money to purchase blankets for the patients.
Jefferson walked over to her and reached down to brush the long hair away from her neck gently so as not to wake her before he pulled the syringe from the pocket of his white scrub top. He flicked the cap off and held his breath as he plunged the needle into the girls neck. She had a moment to open her eyes, the pain sharp and unsuspected, before they rolled back into her head and she became limp. Jefferson removed the needle and placed the syringe and cap back into his pocket then scooped the girl into his arms. He carried her out of the building, giving a nod to the guard.
"Thanks, Niel."
"Anytime, man. Just make sure you keep your word."
"Of course. Give me about a week to get her ready."
Jefferson turned and carried the unconscious girl to his car. The black sedan sat waiting with the trunk open and Jefferson carelessly dropped the girl inside with a thud and slammed the trunk shut. He walked around and got into the driver's side, turned on the radio, and lit a cigarette before pulling off into the night.
The girl began to stir, murmuring as she regained consciousness. She opened her eyes and squinted, a bright light nearly blinding her from overhead. She tried to lift her arm to block out the light but she couldn't move. She tested her limbs and found them all to be bound to the table by some form of straps. Her heart began to beat faster and her breathing increased as panic rushed through her. Assuming she was still in the asylum and about to begin a "treatment" she whimpered, looking around in an attempt to see the room. The overhead light was the only thing illuminating the room and it shone directly down on her preventing any sight outside the immediate area of illumination.
"H-hello?" She called out
She was met with silence. She sighed and tested her restrains again lifting her head to look down to discover that not only was she bound to a steel table, she was naked. Panic turned to fear and she shivered.
"Hello!" She cried out again, jerking the restraints on her wrists  "Let me out of here!"
The door opened then and she could hear footsteps. They stopped as the person approached the foot of the table.
"W-whos there?" She whimpered "Doctor Stein?"
Silence.
"Please let me go, I'm not crazy, I don't belong here, don't do this to me please!"
Her pleas fell on deaf ears as Jefferson picked up a latex glove. She could hear it snap as he put it on and she trembled.
"I'm sure you're confused. Allow me to explain."
Jefferson's face came into view then as he sat on a rolling stool next to the table. His blue eyes glimmered in the light and he smiled softly at her, placing a hand on her bare stomach. For a split second she was relieved to see the nurse who was always kind to her but her relief was short lived when Jefferson's eyes darkened and he picked up a roll of medical tape and rag.
"I-I don't-mmph!"
Her eyes widened as Jefferson shoved the rag into her mouth roughly, stretching her jaw open. He wound the tape around her head several times, covering her mouth and chin tightly to insure that she didn't remove the gag.
"I told you I would get you out of there." He spoke calmly, pinching her chin between his fingers and holding her head steady to look at him "Now you owe me a thank you. Your thank you will be your service to me."
She furrowed her brow in confusion.
"You're going to be my meal ticket. My personal little fuck doll that I'm going to play with, not only for my pleasure but the pleasure of the thousands of other sick fucks out there that are going to watch me play with you."
She yelled into the gag and tried to turn her head away but Jefferson's grip tightened on her already aching jaw.
"Dolls dont speak. Therefore that little please back there is the last word you're pretty mouth is ever going to utter. I'm going to clip your vocal cords and your tongue, making sure the only noise you'll be able to make is pathetic whimpers and moans of pain."
He laughed slowly, grinning down at her.
"There will be pain, so much pain, but it's all a part of the process. By the end of this you won't feel a damn thing at all."
He stood then, releasing her jaw and rooled the stool over to the head of the table. His eyes trailed over her body and she blushed red from embarrassment of being exposed to him.
"These aren't going to do at all." He shook his head as he grabbed her breast roughly making her wince and cry out "Luckily I have a way to make these pathetic excuses for tits much bigger without any invasive surgery.".
Her eyes widened and she shook her head. Her breasts weren't small, but not large either. She thought they were perfectly round and pert and they gained a lot of attention from the boys at school. Why would he want them bigger? Why was he even doing this to her in the first place?
"What else can I do…" Jefferson mused as he twirled a strand of her hair around his finger "I'm definitely going to shave your head."
He ignored her muffled screams.
"All of your body hair will be removed permanently. Maybe I'll add some piercings. Small ones, nothing dramatic, just to your nipples and clit."
As he spoke he moved around to the end of the table to inspect her from that end and began to massage her right foot.
"Hmm. Did you ever take ballet?"
She shook her head, tears streaming down her face now.
"Then you'll have no idea how much it hurts to stand on your toes. How much damage it can do. You'll find out soon, I've got a beautiful pair of ballet boots just your size. Shhh now, you'll get used to wearing them don't worry. I've got all sorts of things for you to wear actually."
He chuckled darkly as he stood.
"I think that should be enough modification." He reached over to grab something off a table that sat out of sight "For today anyway. Let's begin."
The sound of a razor turning on filled the room, drowning out her sobs.
