because i’m obsessed and i think i’ve noticed something that i don’t think i’ve seen anyone talk about yet

my own theory about the nltl crystals

@leo-kinnie

i think that the odyssey shard is some form of collection of the other shards powers

EVIDENCE:

the odyssey shard’s particle effects resemble those of the other shards.

First look at the most obvious, Donnie and Raph.

Raph’s effects are messy with holes and broken off bits and the odyssey shard has much of the same (shown below)

meanwhile donnie’s effects are more blocky and geometric, something that can also be seen in the lines of the odyssey shards effects. The curves are made up of straight lines and the holes and broken bits are also made of straight lines causing the shapes themselves to be more blocky than in raph’s. Leo’s effects are spikey and swirly. it curves in on itself a bit with sharp bits poking out. If we go with the idea that the odyssey shards power is a combination of the other shards then leo’s shard makes up the general shape.

Mikey is a bit harder to do because there is less resemblance and there is not a lot of references to look at but the blobby form of the odyssey shard could be attributed to mikey.

Next up is colors. The Odyssey shard is depicted using various different colors and changes the color of donnie marks. however these colors are not random

For one the colors that donnie’s marks change to are consistent, i don’t yet know if the specific markings themselves have any meaning, but the colors are: purple, red, blue, and yellow. AKA, the colors of the turtles.

last is the crystals themselves

while the odyssey shard and donnie’s shard may look the same at first and initially i assumed that donnie’s was a host for the odyssey shard but there are some differences. One is that the odyssey shard’s edges have deeper curves. the top and bottom points are skinnier on the odyssey shard than on donnie’s. the center face is smaller on the odyssey shard then on donnie’s. this also can’t be attributed to differences in redraws because of how consistent the odyssey shard’s drawings are with their lines and how different it is from donnie. another thing is how the odyssey shard and donnie’s shard have been specially described as different SHARDS not just as different.

something else here that interests me is how @/DRangerrr says that the odyssey might have been made to look like donnie’s shard because that would explain a lot of things such as it’s primary color being purple and its strong resemblance to donnie’s shard. what if it was made specifically to trick someone (maybe draxum or donnie) into thinking it was donnie’s shard why else would draxum give this random super powered rock to a toddler if he didn’t think it was made specifically for him.

anyways i know there is still some stuff unexplained but i think this stuff is very interesting and i wanted to contribute to the theories on this au.

I will admit, sometimes I take vibes from things that other people have written. I was reading "Nothing Left To Lose" by Halfwayzone on AO3. It's a seperated fic where Donnie and Raph were raised by Draxum, but left to live with Splinter when they were kids.

And I just... i adore how they write the relationship with Draxum and Donnie! There's such a solid repore of plausible deniability, and what feels like genuine parental love.

It's the kind of relationship I want my turtles to have with Draxum in Lily Pads.

I want them to be able to look at him and go "ah yes, a dad" while also maintaining him being a grey zone of morality.

I want him to take pride in Raph's kindness, even in spite to how he was first raised.

I want him to look at Donnie and ask questions about his work, just so he can make sure Donnie knows how brilliant it is.

I want him to look at Leo and praise his strategic mind, while also humbling him with the things Leo can't see coming.

I want him to look at Mikey and not only praise his fighting style, but the art that Mikey does. I want him to praise the painting AND praise the dancing behind the combat.

I want Draxum to be good. I want him to be a support. And i want him to fuck up. He isn't going to have a clean break away from cannon. I said he goes to therapy, and he does, but even therapy can't fully erase years of prejudice. Draxum isn't going to like April. He isn't going to like helping humans or even be involded in helping them, but when it comes to it, he isn't going to join the Foot. Not because they're bad, and not because he's a good guy, but due to the fact that, when it gets to the point where he could help them, he already knows they've hurt Mikey. And while he doesn't care about humans, he does care about that sunshine turtle... also the Foot stole from him 😋

And honestly, my goal is for something a touch similar with Big Mama, but that's another rant.

So I developed really bad brain rot from repeatedly listening to Nothing Left to Lose and thoughts of the Moongene AU held me at gun point (I'm no songwriter but I needed to get it out of my system + might edit this at some point if a better lyric comes to mind)

Sorry if you've gone over this before but I was curious as to what you'd think it would take for Leo to finally break in front of his brothers?

We’ve actually seen Leo break his persona multiple times throughout the series! And pretty much each and every time has a common theme present: his family being in danger.

#non au ask #probably the biggest break he has is immediately after Raph protects him from the Krang and forces him to leave Raph behind #not once in the series has Leo shown a greater horror than the moment he’s out of the pod knowing Raph was left behind #and he makes that break KNOWN #he shovels it down again soon enough but yeah #also noteworthy is his reaction to losing Gram Gram #and(less of a sad break but a still a break of his lackadaisical persona) when he IMMEDIATELY gets serious when Raph’s missing in the sewer #actually I think of Leo being serious about Raph missing in the sewers a lot #luckily (or not lol) for his mask these breaks happen mostly when everyone else is ALSO freaking out #so more focus is put on to the entire situation than simply Leo’s reaction to it #but yeah Leo loves his family SO MUCH so of course they’re consistently his breaking point #tbh tho all of them share that breaking point #cannot BELIEVE I didn’t mention it but his ‘I’m nothing without them’ speech ALSO HAPPENS WHEN HE THINKS HIS BROS ARE IN DANGER #it’s all fun and games until plot armor loses its durability!

Lemme try and make sense of Vox's mindset, and correct me if I get anything wrong?

I think Vox in RR!au hardly actually thinks about suicide. He's too much of a busy man to do that, after all! Thinking about death is for people with too much time on their hands, who don't have to deal with a billion problems on the daily. And sure, maybe it wouldn't be a terrible accident if he was locked out on extermination day one year (not that there's exterminations anymore), but he'll never bother to actively seek it -- why would he? He has things to do. Empires to run/build. Deals to make. Resorts to run, residents to settle, princesses to talk to.

Really, everything would be just fine and dandy, as long as progress is being made, nothing goes wrong at the resort, heaven doesn't come down for no good reason, and that deer freak manage to not bother him for a single day. All dandy!

So what if he's been going through business ventures like someone going through Doritos at the back of the car? It's difficult to stay on top, in Hell, and he can't rely on tech or media forever, not when they cycle faster and faster(and he would know, of course, his whole body is made of it). He's doing what it takes, and if it's risky, what business isn't?

And re: Alastor, vox may have once had feelings for him, but now it's probably soured into maybe wishing that Alastor would just fuck off somewhere where he'll never be heard from again. I think Vox knows very well from years of companionship that Alastor considers him a source of amusement and entertainment rather than an equal, and that hasn't truly changed even after he left, and in a way that has to bite? That Alastor cannot leave it alone, has to make his opinions and disdain clear to all of hell every single day, and also make it clear that vox cannot do anything to stop him (that tv still runs on radiowaves fundamentally, that he can't get rid of Alastor's influence).

Like the way I interpret canon!vox's feelings re:alastor has a lot more insecurity and the desire to show he's stronger now, he's over it, he doesn't need him, than just being rejected romantically, and in contrast RR!vox grinned and bore it longer without letting on, and then at some point just gave up, by which time his feelings have soured so far past insecurity and bitterness into straight up nihilism. (Doomed yaoi my fav)

Ok I'm just rambling now but yeah I think vox in RR!au is really really interesting? Bc he's y'know not in the best place but also he's fine. He's not, probably never, going to actively do anything, left to his own devices he's just going to keep at his daily routine and eventually self-destruct on his own hubris by taking on far more than he is capable of (people pleasing tendencies, hm?). But otherwise he's fine.

I think RR!Alastor is also chasing RR!Vox because he knows something is really wrong when Vox wants to cut something *fundamental to his functions* out from his life... If Alastor had any heat to his words, he could do some serious damage to Vox.

But Alastor was not able to reciprocate back then(or in general) the way Vox ever wanted him to. Alastor might think, "What's so wrong about being amusing to me? What's so wrong in being cared for that way?" But we know that Vox, even in canon, is pretty damn emotional. A confession was bound to happen, but since RR!Vox never did, he opt'd to shut them off. It started off with distractions, and those worked too well. Eventually he gave up trying to figure out his emotions and took the "easy" way out, nihilism--but like everything Vox dips his foot into, it's never enough. Only this time it's not only power(like I interpret canon!Vox to seek) that's growing/he's greedy for, it's this all-encompassing void.

Another interesting characterization to tack onto RR!AU Vox is his strong lack of self-preservation, I did mention it here when I had some thoughts on canon!Vox, but rather than "confidence", he does not care. And on occasion, he can go irrationally, batshit crazy for the same reason.

Let's set the stage in hmm, 1980s? He starts not to care about smaller allies, the people he stomps on, eating them up to become an overlord. Recruits Valentino, doesn't care that Val is immoral. At first it's "not his business", but it starts spreading. What is it that he's looking for? Power? Love? Entertainment? People to accept him?

Which is why RR!Vox decided to jump the gun a little bit and shoot for becoming a form of "GOD", aka the original reason for all his anguish in Hell(his religious roots as a human). It's kind of...an endpoint? It's not the most sane, or sensical route-- but he doesn't care that much. He's functioning on this tired/desensitized, pseudo-robotic, logical reasoning with a combo of "oh god I'm running out of interest"(in existing/running himself to the ground). So....hm, "fine" is a tragic word, indeed.

He's not, probably never, going to actively do anything, left to his own devices he's just going to keep at his daily routine and eventually self-destruct on his own hubris by taking on far more than he is capable of (people pleasing tendencies, hm?). But otherwise he's fine.

Welllll, he did always want to go out with a bang. If he did. I don't know, something really big. Like becoming God! Yeah.....That'd do it.

IMO, the premise of RR!AU isn't in stasis-- the reason Vox picked up this project in particular is an aggressive move. He's no longer distributing the same amount of work to the other Vees either anymore, so there is....some urgency, is what I like to think....

Just putting the hypothetical out there, but I think, out of the U6 Saiyan pack, the one that'd be the best fit to go Majin would be Cabba

We know that Caulifla is the one with the hot head who'd have the power cravings, but Cabba having this opportunity presents more of shock, having the most rational and well-composed suddenly snap like a twig from the emotional burden he carries on his back. Plus, after all, Cabba is intended as Vegeta's Universe 6 parallel in a sense, just as Caulifla is to Goku and Kale is to Broly/Gohan.

The manipulation that forces him to succumb? Being convinced that this power will be key to achieving justice. Of course there's the consequence of absolute power corrupting absolutely.

In this hypothetical, when Frost comes to trial for the truth he reveals during the Tournament, the truth is somehow retwisted in his favor, Cabba is prevented from stepping forth as the key witness to his confession, and the lizard manages to get away scot-free. Cabba feels absolutely betrayed, infuriated that his voice has no power against the lizard who manipulated him for so long. He wants to be heard, be taken seriously.... so he is given a chance to put justice into his own hands, to take down Frost himself. The corruption of power ultimately twists Cabba into a sort of Light Yagami type.

But you may ask, where would the Majin powerup come from? Who's the equivalent Babidi to pull strings in this universe? Well, he's been lying in plain sight as the supposed weak link of the Tournament of Power...

...Dr. Rota.

Cabba ends up crossing paths with the witch doctor, a peddler of spell cards and talismans. When the Saiyan vents out his tale, it intrigues the boar, telling him to follow him to the back. Rota believes he has quite the special spell for such a case as Cabba's.

Katara: Sokka? Do you have a moment?

Sokka: Sure. Did you find him? The guy who killed Mom?

Katara: Yes.

Sokka: Is he dead?

Katara: Yes. But I didn't kill him, Hama did, she's also dead.

Sokka: Hama?! Where'd you find her? How did she die?

Katara: It's a long story, and get this, Hama was the real target, not Mom, or me.

Sokka: Wow.

Katara: After killing him, she tried to after Zuko. We had a huge battle, she slipped and got stabbed through the heart by a giant icicle.

Sokka: Jeez. I'm sorry you had to see that.

Katara: Thanks, but, that's not all I wanted to talk with you about. The things I said to you earlier...I was way out of line. I went too far. I'm sorry. I'm also sorry for being dismissive of Aang's loss.

Sokka: I appreciate that, and it's alright. You know, you can always talk to me about what's bothering you, you don't have to put so much weight on your shoulders.

Katara: Your right. Even though the southern raiders mistook Mom for Hama, I would never have blamed her for her death or why she died. Hama did what she had to do to survive, she didn't deserve to suffer as badly as she did.

Sokka: May she find peace in death.

Katara: I never told anyone this...but for a long time...I blamed myself for mom dying. I hated myself more than the man who killed her.

Sokka: Why would you do that?

Katara: I don't know anymore.

Sokka: Well, I can tell you right now, what happened to Mom or Hama is not on you. You don't need to keep doing this to yourself. Do you understand me?

Katara (Gets teary-eyed and nods)

Sokka holds Katara and they embrace in a hug.

Sokka: Mom would be proud of you, of both of us, so Dad, and probably even Hama.

Katara expresses a low but semi-joyful chuckle during her sorrowful sobbing on Sokka's torso.
