r76 is an annoying ship cause everything you see about them pretty much makes them two entirely different characters that happen to share their names. idk i'd like to see more content of them being best friends instead of smooching

This is gonna sound really harsh, but I think the main problem is that these two - like most of especially the original ow characters - are very bare bones and shallow as characters. And that the stuff people then project onto them to fill them out, kinda tends towards just being fandom cliches

And that’s very fair, it’s a hobby and a community where established tropes and traits are celebrated but it also leads to a lot of characterisation that isn’t that interesting or has that much to do with the characters as they actually exist. You know, the extremely classic ‘the characterisation is mostly there to justify putting these names into this “incorrect quote”’-situation

And to be very clear, heaven knows I do a version of this too. I think the versions of these characters that I write are interesting, but they’re also very far removed from what we see in the game and probably influenced by general fandom values and cliches in more ways than I’m aware - and most definitely really dull or wrong or horrifically pretentious or the symptom of a deep misunderstanding of the character to like a lot of people
