@squirrelfund gave us the timely prompt of “birthday” this week for @galladrabbles Enjoy!

Mickey didn’t kill his target on Monday. High winds coulda messed up his aim.
He didn’t kill the guy on Tuesday. Dinner sat weird in his stomach.
He didn’t kill Ian Gallagher on Wednesday. Dude was with children.
He couldn’t kill Ian – he was Ian now – on Thursday. There was a new moon.
Friday, Mickey’s scope locked onto Ian sitting alone in his apartment. Mickey ignored his warm feelings as he targeted Ian’s chest.
A door opened. Ian’s eyes shone. A gaggle of people arrived with balloons.
Ian’s fucking birthday.
Mickey pulled the rifle back.
He’d definitely kill Ian tomorrow.

Whumptober Completion Week!
This week's installment of longfic All Vows Is out. We're at the point of the story where everyone bottoms out before climbing back out, which was kind of perfect timing for Whumptober. There are six prompts in this chapter which makes this official Whumptober completion!
Erik has a flashback to his time in Persia and how he became an assassin. I want to note something I have some discomfort with in fandom, which is how Persia is depicted in the story. This is mostly because of both how Leroux and, ahem, Susan Kay depicted it, and it is accurate to the lens of a 19th-century European. There are some things I simply have to leave in because they are Leroux accurate, but I try to allude to the fact that if you want a society that loves its indiscriminate violence for entertainment and sport, look no further than 19th century Paris. Erik is very lucky the mob didn't find his wine and never caught him.

詞、曲、表現のすべての面でDOUBLE らしさがだせた
プロローグ・アルバム『Crystal』を経て、2枚のシングル、セクシー・サイドの「handle」とハード・サイドの「U」で第1章が始まったDOUBLE。ヒップホップ界を代表するラッパーのZEEBRAの作品とツアーへの参加でも絶大な支持を得て期待が高まる中、いよいよ1stアルバム『double』が発表される。先行マキシ・シングル曲「Angel」はTAKAKOのソロ・プロジェクトとなってから初めてのバラードで、極上の作品に。アルバムでの新たなチャレンジも予感させる。
▶「実は、最初に聴いたときは、ちょっとDOUBLEっぽくないんじゃないかなと思ったんだけど、すごくいい仕上がりになって、すごく好きになった曲です。もともと、自分ではミディアム・テンポがいちばん得意だと思ってて、バラードは敬遠してる面もあったんですけど、今回はすごいイケてるんじゃないかなって思ってますね」
「handle」や「U」を含むアルバムは、すべてニューヨークで制作。TAKAKOが、コラボレートするクリエイターと曲を厳選し、イニシアチブをとりながらつくり上げたのが今作『double』だ。ヒップホップ、ソウル、ジャズなど多彩な音楽性、テイストがあり、ボーカルも曲ごとの細かなニュアンスまで聴かせる。そして全体に官能的な印象。
▶「濃厚なイメージで表現していて、全曲にDOUBLEらしさというものが出てるんじゃないかな」
第1章の始まりから、TAKAKOは作詞を手がけるようになったが、その意識に変化も生まれたようだ。
▶「最初は詞は書かないって言ってたんですけど、自分のことばじゃないと歌えない。それで書きはじめて、アルバムをつくっていくうちに、作詞家としての自我が出てきた気がします。たとえば、"わたし"とか、これまで使わなかったことばも、必要と思えばあえて使うようになったり」
タイトル、ジャケットなどすべてが明確にDOUBLEの存在感を示す『double』。王道のR&Bでありながら、TAKAKOだけのボーカル、そしてパッションから生まれる、DOUBLEのR&Bの完成だ。
