drowning under the weight of unsaid words and hidden feelings was something you'd made your peace with.

falling for your best friend, nicholas, who just so happened to be a classmate was not the best decision ever; but you have been dealing with it rather decently all these years.

so maybe it'll all work out just fine.

is what you thought, mere minutes ago.

everything was normal then, both of you were trying not to fall asleep in a particularly boring class. the harsh yet very welcome RING! of the school bell jolted you awake; and of course you wasted zero time in grabbing your bag and making your way out of the classroom.

but when has nicho ever let you leave just like that?

a "where'd you think you're goin'" and a sharp tug to the strap of your bag as you're pulled back by none either than your best friend.

he reminds you that you have cleaning duty that day with a much too gleeful expression..

..and that's how you find yourself leaning against a desk, zoning out to thoughts of him and how the afternoon sunlight streams in through the windows perfectly lighting his features aglow..

the loosened tie, the rolled up sleeves, the small smile playing on his lips as he says something.. wait he's talking to you.

"you're not exactly subtle you know?"

you find yourself unable to think of an appropriate reply, instead choosing to hide behind a simple roll of your eyes.

he lets out a laugh at that, making his way towards you, "i didn't expect you to be so careless.."

at that, you can't help but gulp because yeah it's not like you're not physically affectionate towards each other but something about this moment is.. decidedly not platonic.

nicho's hands rest on the edges of the desk, his face just a little too close for comfort. he's effectively trapping you against it; seemingly completely unaware of the effect this is having on you.

when he speaks up next, voice barely more than a whisper, you feel his lips hover just above yours, "or is it that.. you're just too distracted by someone..?"

something shifts right then. a certain obvious tension shrouds you and it's as if the two of you are the only people in the entire universe.

your hand reaches to tug on his collar, tentatively, with a considerable amount of hesitance; but the way his eyes meet yours - you swear you can see the sun, the moon, all the galaxies in those eyes - leaves you reeling.

you're not sure which of you closes the distance between your lips but you can't really bring yourself to care at all.

not when nicho's lips press against yours impatiently, eagerly. like he's been waiting for this. yearning for this, just as much as you.

especially not when your stomach is busily turning upside down like its life depends on it; all the while your best friend allows one of his hands to tangle into your hair, effectively deepening the kiss.

you'd do this forever if you could, but the unfortunate need for air causes you to push him away.

and oh the way his face looks the absolute picture of debauchery, of indulgence; what with his heavily lidded eyes, flushed face, and delicately swollen lips.

he looks like the prettiest mess ever.

you find yourself unable to deal with all the thoughts that suddenly flood your brain. this is what you've been dreaming of for ages. but nicho is your best friend. best friends do not do this.

his hand moves to gently cup the back of your neck, then; bringing you forward to capture your lips in another kiss, this one vastly differing from the previous.

tender, languid movements as if you have all the time in the world. his soft skin is hot to the touch but if it's him you wouldn't even mind burning.

you feel all your doubts slowly die down, a lingering warmth spreading in their place as you find his other hand on the desk and intertwine both your fingers.

It's late at night when you were cuddling with boyfriend!nicho, teasing how the other acted during your first kiss. After a round of denying how you acted during your special moment, you decide to recreate it. "Can I.. kiss you?" Nicholas cuts you off from your random ramble, his eyes locked onto your lips, licking his in anticipation before his eyes flicker to yours, making sure you were okay with what he just said (consent is sexy) "I-I know this is really random and all but ive been wanting to kiss you for so long and-" hes cut off from your slow, wordless nod, almost like you were hypnotized from his sudden confession. So with shaky hands, nicho nervously leans closer to cup your cheeks, his heart pounding out of his chest as he licks his lips again. After what felt like forever, he finally closes the distance, his eyes fluttering close with your short but sweet kiss. You still act the same way as you did in the past; nicho let's out a nervous giggle when he breaks the kiss, his head down to conceal his burning face, while you smile like an idiot from his actions, laughing from shyness. Some things never change.

He's the type to hug you at any given moment

Like you're taking a book from the library and the hugs your waist

"Nicho, is everything okay?"

"...yes" in a small voice

When you're doing something, he comes to you and asks you what you're doing

Let's say you're playing a game on your phone and he sits next to you and looks at the screen until you can give him attention

Wants attention 24/7. He pretends attention

He's a baby

When he comes to your room he plops on your bed

And if you're on the bed, he plops onto you

He kisses you all the time. And not only your lips but your cheeks and neck and shoulders all the time

His love language is definitely physical touch. He is basically a glue stick

And when you're with others you're always hand in hand with him or he has his arm around your shoulder or his hands on your legs

I think I'm done with the physical touch Nicho but I may elaborate more in the future

Shopping dates with him, you saw it coming

You two browse the whole shopping centre to look for shops and stuff you like

But it's usually him styling you

Or you looking at him try on a thousand clothes before choosing just one

Matching items like rings or earrings or phone cases, but usually only small details

He wants you to meet his family really soon and invites you to Taiwan as soon as he can

He's eager to show you the most famous spots and also all the places he loved when he was young

And he wants to take pictures of you in all of them

And if you're taiwanese as well, he'd want to see all your favourite places too

He would also love to meet your family and would be so nervous

"Do I look good?"

"Nicho, you always look good..."

The things you two do together range from photoshoots to watching movies to buying the kit to solve mysteries to painting to coffee dates to amusement park to the movies to learning dances and doing tiktok challenges together

Anything literally, he just wants to be with you (and he gets bored easly so bear with it)

After a long day, he comes to you and plops onto you and while you stroke his hair, he tells you all the things that happened that day

And then wants you to tell him how your day was

I feel like he's the type to avoid difficult conversations but at the same time, when he really thinks there's the need to, he doesn't hesitate

And also, he always wants to know your opinion and advices, even if maybe he won't follow them in the end

Y/n’s brother’s best friend. Out of all the people, she had to have a crush on him. The cocky, self-centered, high school heartthrob. And it didn't help when her brother invited him over nearly everyday. To their parents, Yixiang had become another member of the family. But not to Y/n.

“Mom! Dad! I’m inviting Yixiang over!” Yelled Minseong.

“Okay sweetie!” Their mom replied from her comfortable chair in the living room.

Y/n rolled her eyes with a sigh as she continued to pet their dog, Bo.

“What’s with the sigh for?” Their dad raised an eyebrow. “Is it Yixiang?”

“Of course it’s Yixiang. There’s nobody in the world I hate more,” Y/n scoffed.

Her mom set her book down on her lap. “Y/n, that’s not nice.”

”So what if I hate him?” Y/n crossed her arms as Bo set his head in her lap, wanting to be pet.

“Well maybe if you’d talk with him, you’d get to know him and like him a little better. All you two do is give each other hateful looks,” her mom suggested.

“Even if I wanted to, he’s with Minseong 24/7, how would I?”

”All they do is talk and watch movies. We could all watch one together, in here,” she said.

“Great way to get to know someone,” Y/n replied sarcastically.

”It’s somewhere to start Y/n,” her dad pointed out. “We all hate seeing how you two look at each other.”

For someone reason, it felt like everyone in the room secretly knew that Y/n was just putting up an act, and that she really liked Yixiang, she just didn’t want to get close to him. So she claimed to hate him.

She sighed again and got up from the couch, petting Bo once more before getting a snack in the kitchen. Minseong smirked as he sat at the kitchen counter. “Somewhere to start,” he repeated their dad’s words with a chuckle.

“Don’t make me throw this at you,” Y/n threatened with a jar of peanut butter in her hand.

Just a typical day at the L/n household.

“Anyways, so then I run around the side, right?” Yixiang laughs as he continues telling stories of his recent soccer games. Telling stories… more like bragging. Minseong listened intently as the rest of the family stared off into space. Bo included.

Y/n decided she was bored before leaving the room.

“Where are you going Y/n?” Minseong asked, everyone’s attention on the girl now.

“What do you mean ‘where am I going’? Away from here,” she answered, before glancing to Yixiang. “And away from him.”

”Why? Is Yixiang boring you? Do we need to do something else?”

Y/n stared daggers into her brother’s eyes. “I’m just going to do what I want, okay?”

”No, your brother is right, Y/n. You never hang out with us,” Yixiang pouted. And for someone reason, Y/n loved the sound of her own name when it came from his lips. “Just stay for once? With me?”

”What is with you? I thought we hate each other,” Y/n argued.

Mr. and Mrs. L/n gave each other a strange, knowing glance, before leaving the room. Y/n sensed they were planning something all along.

“No! I’m not giving you park place! Are you crazy?!” Yixiang shouted at Minseong as they played Monopoly, Yixiang’s choice.

“It was just an offer! Plus two-thousand is a lot of money in this game,” Minseong defended.

“Don’t care,” Yixiang said before rolling the dice.

Y/n held her property cards in her hands and sighed. “This game will take forever to finish. Can’t we do something else?”

“What did you have in mind?” Yixiang smirked, getting a little too close for her liking.

”Not what you’re thinking,” she scoffed and looked away.

Minseong giggled to himself as that interaction took place. “You know what, I actually have to… do laundry,” Minseong said.

”Do laundry? Since when do you do laundry?” Y/n crossed her arms.

”Since now,” he replied, setting his cards down and running upstairs to his room.

”What was that all about,” Y/n raised an eyebrow before setting her cards down. “Well I was done with this game anyway,” she stood up and left to the living room. She took a seat of the comfortable sofa, and Yixiang followed suit. He sat right next to her. “Can I help you?”

“No,” Yixiang replied, stretching, oblivious to her obvious confusion.

“Okay,” she huffed, annoyed. She faced him. “What do you want? I feel like ever since you came over today, you’ve been different. Even my family has been different. Everything’s been different! What is going on? Is there something everyone here knows that I don’t?” She ranted.

“Maybe,” he smiled, looking at his phone.

She crawled over to him and stole his phone.

”Hey!”

”Give me an answer!”

“You really think I don’t know, huh?” Yixiang chuckled.

”Know what?”

”That you love me.”

Y/n blinked and stared for about ten seconds. “Say that again?”

”I know you love me Y/n, it’s plain as day. You can stop trying to hide it, I love you too,” Yixiang smiled, inching his way closer to her.

”I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she stuttered, backing up into the soft sofa cushions.

”Oh I think you do,” he smirked, his arms on either side of her as he hovered above her. She was glad her parents weren’t in the room.

”Yixiang-“ she was cut off by a pair of warm lips on hers. And when her conscience told her everything about this situation was wrong, her heart strongly disagreed. All this time spent hiding her feelings and lying to her family as well as herself, was worth it now. She really was hopelessly in love. She kissed back as her hands slowly got entangled in his soft hair, that she had always wanted to run her hands through. Yixiang smiled into it and gently grabbed her chin, allowing him to kiss her more deeply. After a few more seconds, he pulled away.

”I really do love you,” Yixiang said, taking her hands in his. “Will you be mine?”

Her mouth fell agape as she was in pure shock. “I- didn’t expect this to happen today.”

”Neither did I,” he chuckled. “I kinda just went with the flow. So? What’ll it be princess?”

The nickname made her heart flutter. And she thought about how much she’d love it if he called her that every day. And how much she’d love kissing him every day. He had to be the one. The one she’d been waiting for since eight grade. “Yes Yixiang. I’d love to be yours.”

He smiled and connected their foreheads. “I like that answer.”

Y/n smiled at him before wrapping her arms around his neck. “I really do love you too Yixiang. I’m sorry it took so long to admit it.”

”Don’t apologize,” he pouted before kissing the bridge of her nose. “You’re worth the wait princess.”
