I am not able to write any Valentine's Day fics. I have been very busy with work and prepping for the LSAT. I did really want to write these and I might someday eventually. I want to share what are in my WIPs.

Leave, Jack decides, is the most beautiful word in the English language. Which is saying something, considering his vocabulary has nearly doubled since he began exchanging all those letters with Davey.

He releases a sigh from his lungs, forcing himself to tidy up his apartment. Six days, he thinks.

Davey’s on leave for six entire days—six days that he gets to spend in New York, with him, and Jack’s skin is buzzing like a live wire’s running just beneath from thinking about it.

The logistics of Davey’s arrival are fuzzy. The specifics weren’t detailed in his last letter, but Jack assumes Davey will stop and visit with his family first. He’ll probably stay the first night at home.

Obviously, there are things to be discussed. Jack’s made a personal resolution to sit down with Davey and have a real, proper, mature conversation about their relationship. It’s the first time Jack’s ever felt the desire to even remotely define things between himself and someone he’s seeing (if he can even call an almost kiss and a ton of letters between Davey seeing him).

Still, it’s all Jack can think about—finally holding Davey in the flesh. He busies himself with chores around his apartment to keep his mind off of it.

He’s in the middle of sweeping his kitchen when there’s a knock at the door. It’s too early in the week to be the milkman, but Jack answers it anyway. To be honest, he’d love to give himself a reason to stop cleaning.

There, standing in his doorway and looking ridiculously good in olive-drab trousers and a service coat to match, is one hell of a good reason.
