Updated Post. Imma be real for a sec, some of the new information that was brought to my attention is amazing and, in fact, very helpful, so I'm making an updated post to this one here.
A Beginners Guide to Crystals.
How to spot fakes (typically glass) and dyed crystals, Crystal Shapes, and Crystal Color Associations are the topics in this post.
How to spot glass, resin, and other types of fake crystals. (You can still 100% use them in witchcraft, but if you want genuine crystals, then this guide may help you do just that!)
If you think that your crystals are fake, here are some things you can look and do to tell.
Rubbing your crystal with a finger should reveal tiny pores on the surface of the crystal. If it does not have any pores and is instead completely smooth, then it's possible that it's glass or resin.
While some crystals can have naturally formed air bubbles in them, it is rare and may just be glass that was shaped into the crystal.
You can easily search up "fake crystal name" vs. "real crystal name" and compare the two pictures.
You can also look up "dyed crystals" vs. "undyed crystals" to see what a natural coloring of crystals should look like.
If you're worried that your turquoise is fake, then you can take the tip of a hot pin and press it into the crystal, if it burns then it's real, however if it starts to melt its a fake.
Opalite and Goldstone are glass crystals, man made.
9/10 times if your Crystal looks very brightly colored it could have been dyed.
I'll put in some pictures of glass/resin crystals next to the real crystals to show the difference.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Natural coloring of crystals occurs because of the different metals and other minerals that are absorbed during the creation of the crystal. Quartz is just silica and oxygen, so it's appears colorless, but when iron is absorbed, it creates purple or yellow, depending on how oxidized the iron was in the creation of the crystal.
Tumblr media
Natural citrine does form, but it's not going to look burned or splochty.
Splotchy color in crystals usually means that it's been dyed, as you can see in the first two images. Dyed crystals also very obviously look dyed because of how brightly they are colored.
Tumblr media
Even in Malachite, the green in the fake malachite is brighter than the genuine malachite. You can also look at the unnatural banding on the fake and compare it to real malachite.
Tumblr media
Real opal is not see-through like Opalite is. Real opal is more clouded with spots of color, while opalite will have streaks of color or look like the see-through ones above.
Tumblr media
Real turquoise is going to have brown or black webbings and cracks or chips, while dyed howlite is going to be smooth with brown or black inclusions. You can take a swab of acetone and rub it across the crystal to see if any coloring comes off. If the color does come off or the crystal looks lighter in the spot, then it's more than likely dyed howlite. You can also do that hot pin trick mentioned above.
The picture on the left is dyed howlite, while on the right is the natural turquoise. You can see that the natural crystal has deep webbing into the stone, very obvious cracks while the holite doesn't have cracks, only webbing that looks like it but it's going to be smooth along those lines.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crystal Shapes in witchcraft
Double pointed- absorbs and emits energy.
Cluster- Radiates energy.
One point- concentrates and directs energy.
Raw- Strong open energy.
If the crystal is more round then the energy is going to be calmer
If the crystal has multiple points, then the energy is directed off of each point.
The size of the crystal doesn't dictate the amount of energy it gives off.
Different crystals have different energies that they give off. The ones most commonly used in witchcraft and their properties are listed below.
Clear quartz- Clarity
Amethyst- Grounding
Citrine- Happiness
Rose quartz- love
Black Tourmaline- Protection
Obsidian- also protection
Aventurine- luck
Tigers eye- money
Labradorite- aura healing and protection
There are many other crystals that give off similar energies that can be used. As stated, these are just some of the more commonly seen ones.
Now, different crystals can give off different energies depending on the person using them. Some people may see use amethyst as protection rather than obsidian or black tourmaline. Some may use aventurine for money spells over tigers eye. That's 100% okay.
Crystal Color Associations.
Color associations can depend on how the witch feels about a color. This is the general association plus how I use colors in my path.
Red- Anger/passion
Orange- Courage (or in my case repulsion)
Yellow- Happiness
Green- Luck and money
Blue- Calming or sadness (depending on the mood)
Purple- Spirituality
Brown- grounding
Pink- self love
Grey- solemn, seriousness.
With some crystals, the color is also associated with the things listed above. However, again, not all witches will use the color associations of crystals this way, and that's 100% okay. Each witch has a different path and different associations when it comes to the tools they use in their path.
If you're interested in learning about what energies different crystals give off, often just googling "what is crystal name used for in healing" and you will receive an answer.
Though with any type of research, please look at 3-5 other sources that say the same or similar thing. Though it may take more digging to come to a conclusion.
Thank you for reading the updated post, and let me know if I missed anything or if you'd like to add anything. A big thanks to everyone who has corrected the previous post on this subject and any posts that may have contained misinformation in them.

Mineral Swag Tournament Finals
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay y'all, this is it. The FINAL for the Mineral Swag Tournament.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fluorite.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fluorite is a fantastic mineral. It would not have gotten this far otherwise. It comes in a ton of colors, it naturally forms both octahedra and cubes (and massive deposits), and it show brilliant bright blue color under UV light. Fluorescence (the phenomena) is named that because of fluorite!
Tumblr media
It also does this fun thing (that other minerals do as well, but it is common among fluorite) where it changes color as it forms because of changing impurities in the solution from which it grows! Elements like iron, copper, manganese, chromium (and more!) can replace individual ions in fluorite's chemical structure and cause the light to reflect different wavelengths and we therefore see that as a different color. This can also happen if a fluorite ion is missing because the sample has been irradiated (for example) and NOTHING replaces it and so the light still reflects in a different way! That is one of the ways we get purple fluorite and this method of producing color is known as color centers.
Tumblr media
Of course, not all fluorite fluoresces. Not all fluorite forms cubes or octahedra. Some fluorite is colorless. Some of it looks like an ugly little piece of translucent rock. Or a vein of purple mineral in a crack between two other rocks. It would be irresponsible for me to insinuate that all fluorite is this majestic.
But there are some properties that you will always find in fluorite. It has four directions of cleavage. It is the defining mineral for a 4 on the Mohs hardness scale. It will always be made of calcium and fluoride in a 1:2 ratio. These things are some of what define fluorite as a distinct mineral!
Opal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Opal is a beautiful gemstone. Please note that I did not call it a "beautiful mineral" because it is not technically a mineral. It is a solid, inorganic substance with a defined chemical formula, but it lacks the specific crystal structure which minerals MUST have to be considered a mineral.
This crystal structure is the entire reason why fluorite is capable of forming cubes and octahedra. And why garnet forms dodecahedra and beryl forms columns and so on. Opal only comes in those fun little oval shaped stones because it was cut that way! Fluorite forms cubes because it just knows how. Otherwise, opal forms shapeless masses that fracture rather than cleave (fluorite cleaves--four ways). That being said, opal's lack of crystal structure allows it to sometimes be iridescent.
After all, there is a reason opal made it this far. When it shines, it is beautiful. There are several varieties of precious opal (opal that displays its trademark play-of-color/iridescence) and they are all very fun to look at. These precious opals are made of microscopic silica spheres that light reflects off of in weird ways and causes opal to look like it is glittering with a dozen different colors.
However, one would be remiss to forget common opal! Some opal is milky white or a translucent blue, and if you're going to love opal at her fire opal, you better also love her at her common opal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here are some raw pieces of opal (common opal on the left). Note how they break irregularly. They have conchoidal fracture, which both quartz and normal glass (all of which are just silica) also have. I personally think conchoidal fracture is pretty neat.
Also, while the opals on the right would still be considered precious opal, they are what the average person is likely to find. Just little bits of iridescence here and there.
And, like fluorite, while not all opals have all of the cool features, they do have some similarities. They will always have conchoidal fracture if they break. And they will always be made of hydrated SiO2.
...That's all I have for these guys, I think! I hope I have been as impartial (and accurate) as possible while presenting these, your FINAL mineral swag contestants. If you have any questions or anything, let me know. The Rock Swag Tournament will start shortly after this concludes! Submit your rocks here! And specific rock formations or named rock varieties here!

5 Character Associations - Olivia
Tumblr media
EMOTIONS/FEELINGS:
Proud determination and defiance. Eschews tradition, sometimes with a childish petulance. (Nevertheless, perhaps hypocritically, loves traditions that let her dress up and have fun.)
Charismatic; positive and friendly, she seeks to protect and uplift others, naturally drawing people to her
Confident, sometimes to a fault. She pursues her path and what she believes is right without hesitation - (if she hesitates, she's likely to spiral into one doubt after another...)
Passionate. Very much of the "go big or go home" sentiment: Work Hard, Party Harder. She wants to experience everything fully, no half-measures, nothing half-hearted.
Has deep-seated hurts related to emotional abandonment and not being good enough that really ought to be addressed but she'd rather just keep working herself raw to prove herself than sit too long to do the hard emotional work.
COLOURS:
sapphire blue
emerald green
blue goldstone
iridescent opal
amethyst purple
SCENTS:
lavender & honey - (her bathing go-to's)
the fresh green scents of vermund's wilderness
wheat & oxen - (she spends a lot of time in the fields outside of Vernworth)
new - new leather, new steel, most everything she's wearing has a scent of 'newness' to it, fresh bought and yet to be tested.
iron & fire - (she spends a lot of time around the smithy)
OBJECTS:
Necklace of elven make - said to be an heirloom of an ancestor, she was the only one in this day and age to care for it.
Tramont family amulet - denotes her as a member of the family, despite kind of being disowned.
Wolf fang - while she has many of these, this one she had crafted into a necklace - it was the first 'gift' Emrys gave her.
Crow mask - for masquerades or skullduggery, it is equal parts beautifully ornate and alluring, and frightfully forbidding.
Hand mirror - Made of pewter and engraved with ornate birds and flowers, it was a gift from her younger sister when she left the family estate.
BODY LANGUAGE:
Open - almost dangerously so. Any drill instructor of the knights would reprimand her for being so lax. But she's quick like a spring to respond, and thinks that 'laxness' is what better enables 'flexibility'.
Flowing, each step feels like a dance. She turns to someone calling her name and smiles, waving, as the sunlight dances around her - like a moving image of some princess from a storybook.
Almost princely, charming, bends and yields around the object of her attention, gently guiding touches as if leading a dance.
White knuckles. Her whole body tenses seeing soldiers beat down on civilians. Nostrils flared, cold resolution in the eyes. She sees the solution, and acts without remorse.
A dull look in her usually shining, lively eyes, a slouch in her shoulders. Only one person sees it, behind the closed doors of their abode. Tired, so tired of fighting and constantly trying to prove herself and- and then it's quickly gone. The light sparks anew, and she presses onward. She isn't doing this for herself, after all.
AESTHETICS:
swords & shields - to protect, not just to defend but to slay
fresh fruit with honey
beautiful, fancy dresses of many colors
bloody knuckles, bruised cheeks, a cut lip, circles under the eyes
shimmering goblets of wine & glittering masquerade halls VS overflowing mugs of ale & raucous, crowded taverns
SONGS:
Florence + The Machine - King
The Oh Hellos - Second Child, Restless Child
Laura Marling - Hope in the Air
Beyoncé - I Was Here
Florence + The Machine - I'm Not Calling You A Liar

Note
Per our conversation about my rock rp. The following was found in my Notes app.
Tumblr media
Original Name : rock
New Name : Rocky— (or any nickname that your character would like to call Rocky with UwU)
Age : It doesn’t really know...
Height : 8.5 cm (while sitting) and the legs are 4 cm :c
Gender : :c... Rocks do not have genders
Sexuality : Aromantic (It doesn’t feel romantic attraction-)
Appearance : It’s a rock, semi-circle , natural opal. It’s not one of those natural, colorful, beautiful bling bling opals - called “precious opals”. Just one of “common opals”, relatively white, raw material (but can be considered as smoother than the others raw common opals.) It also has a pair of pale-blue eyes. And a mouth. Creepy, I know. It does NOT have muscular arms, but rather skinny, fragile arms.) noodles
Clothing / fashion : If you’re going to get it something to “wear”, it is fine with anything, even just a cloth.
Extra : It is a rock.
Personality : Neutral good, compassion. Considerate over feelings and careful of its speech. But can be overwhelmed by information, since the witch somehow did not successfully in her spells towards the lil’ rock. It is curious, however. It loves to learn :^) It can be fragile, please be careful to not step on Rocky. It is observant, so Rocky will most likely to assess the foes and other people around it. Although it was freaking out in its first few fretful moments of life, Rocky would later on try to keep calm in stressful moment. It’s a good child. Just don’t let it snap back to you.
Habits : Keep things to self; unconsciously assess people and the environments - which often can bring headaches due to overwhelming information (later on, there might be a habit of sitting on someone’s shoulder?)
Hobbies : Reading, learning, -unknown-
Likes : Everyone in the team; to sit on somebody’s shoulder; books; water
Dislikes : Overwhelming information, loss of water (it can die from this-), uh eh nothing else I guess?-
Power : ... Summon rocks (currently undiscovered) and throw rocks (no idea how is it going to do that with those noodles arms-)
Limits : Depends on how strong Rocky is- Currently can’t summon anything oof
Drawbacks : Rocky would experience an immense loss of water (opals are weak against water, it can crack and fade) in 10 seconds and the its limbs would go numb (noodles)
And ragdolls like it’s in a game lul
Tumblr media
oh so you were one of those people with full notes about their ocs... and making character sheets... also rocky sounds fire actually. I'd love to see rocky in designer cloth speaking of the fashion tastes LMFAO

[You dream of yourself, and Loop, and Opal, and Starlight, and Meredith, and Jill, all together in a huge nest, you can't even find the edge, twigs as far as the eye can see and a sunny sky above.
Everyone is talking but, as is the way with dreams, you find their words both garbled and yet conveying a general sense of meaning. It seems like everyone is happy enough. They're having tea in the center of the nest - There was, of course, a table there the entire time, you're quite sure of that. Odile will love this, you think, tea under the open sky she'll..
She'll...
Something's wrong. Your party.. Your family! They aren't here! They aren't here they aren't here they aren't here they aren't here they aren't here they aren't here
T H E Y A R E N ' T H E R E ! !
The sky above darkens suddenly, as if your panicked outburst has scared away the sun itself. The stars try their best to shine only to be unceremoniously swept away as something else takes center stage. Something huge, shining out in a violent shade, jagged and raw against the naturals shades of light and lightless you've known your entire life. The thing that towers above turns, you realize it's a person, it has a face it...
For a moment, you stare into your own, massive, eye. The blood red star that glares from within seeming to burn away everything you are. And then...
You wake up. You're still in the field. It's almost dawn, from the looks of the sky. The last few traces of the stars slowly fading into the rising daylight, a stray gust dancing through the dew dappled grass.
Where you really out here all night? No wonder you had nightmares! Or.. Or did you.. You can't quite remember now...
...No time! Everyone's going to be wondering where you slipped off to! And it's a big day again today after all!]

Witch Tools | Crystals
“Crystals and stones are used in rituals and spells for their energy and corresponding properties.”
Shapes of Crystals: [Source] [Authors note: The link has MORE crystals I just used the basic shapes most Witches use for their craft] Crystal Uses: [Source]
Ball: Cube: Pyramid
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Egg: Heart: Isis:

Geode: Generator: Obelisk:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Raw: Palm: Cluster: Tumbled: Wand:
Tumblr media
Ball/Sphere: Crystal that is shaped into a ball from a larger piece of crystal…quartz crystals rarely occurs naturally as a sphere. The Sphere is associated with Harmony, scrying, even energy all around.
Crystal Pyramid: Manifestation, intently focused energy. prosperity.
A crystal shaped like a pyramid, it has four equal triangular sides that meet to a point with a flat square base. It’s effective for amplifying energy. *Egyptian used the pyramids to send the pharaoh's soul straight to the gods. Crystal Generators and Obelisks are 2 shapes that are often confused with one another, just count the number of sides. A generator has six equal sides and an Obelisk has four. Generators, Obelisks and Pyramids are great shapes to direct/amplify energy. Better used in crystal grids, as it will amplify/boost energy.
Crystal Wands: Healing and rituals, moving/directing energy.
Crystal wands have many uses, they can be used for massage therapy (eg a massage wand), acupressure and reflexology. They can also be used to direct energy in a certain direction, draw negative energy away from you and to activate crystal grids. Crystal wands can be used for chakra healing.
Crystal Eggs: Balance, Fertility, healing
The pointed end of an egg shaped crystal is often used by practitioners of acupressure, reflexology and massage. Similar to spheres, crystal eggs are a great shape to hold whilst meditating. Crystal eggs represent fertility, birth and new beginnings.
Cluster: A group of crystals growing together having many points and sharing the same base clusters rapidly radiate energy in all directions. The cluster radiates energy, meditation and unity.
Crystal Cube: consolidates energy, grounding and meditation, connects to the energy of the earth.
Tumbled: Gentle, constant energyRaw: Strong, Sporadic, pure energy.Double Terminated/Twin: Receives and emits energy transmits informationPalm: Grounding, healing, “Worry stone.”
Isis: Feminine energy, healing emotional, hurt and distress.Geode: Amplifies, conserves and releases energy, internal healing.
Crystal Heart: Sends love across time and space.Crystal Points, Generators and Obelisks: Energy amplifier, six facets
There are 219 Crystals [And I do not have the time or energy to go over ALL of them when we Wiccans can’t use/afford that many, and so we’ll only cover the basics/most used Crystals.
So other than Shapes that signify the ‘power’ of the crystal, what about a specific use? So here is a list of most common crystals that I have seen, that was recommended by other witches or popped up in my readings.
Amethyst | Azurite  | Ametrine  | Aquamarine  |  Agate  |  Amazonite  | Bloodstone  |  Beta  |  Black Obsidian  |   Bismuth  | Chinese writing rock, chrysoprase, Chrysoprase, Citrine, Clear Quartz,  Dream Quartz, Danburite, diamond, Dalmation Stone Fluorite. | Garnet. Herkimer Diamond | Hematite | Jasper | Jade | Kyanite | Kunzite Lepidolite/Lapis Lazuli, Labradorite Malachite | Nephrite | Opal | Onyx | Pink Opal  |   Peridot  |  Rose Quarts  |  Rhodonite, Ruby | Sardonyx  |  Selenite, Sapphire, Sunstone, Smoky Quartz, Scolecite, seraphinite | Topaz | Tigers Eye  |  Tourmaline  |  Zoisite
*Clear Quartz: A substitute in case you can’t use a specific crystal for an intention or spell.
What you NEED to KNOW!
*Need to KNOW
Be VERY careful with crystals. Not ALL of them can be in direct sunlight and not ALL can be placed in water. Some Crystals are sun/water types and if you need to charge them or use them make sure you know which is which!
Crystals that will dissolve or have a chemical reaction when exposed to water. ____________________________________________________________
No Water: Angelite, Azurite, Calcite, celestite, flourite, hematite, kyanite, leoidolite, malachite, mica, pyrite, selenite, turquoise. No Sun: Amber, Amethyst, Aquamarine, Beryl, Celestite, Chrysoprose, Citrine, Flourite, Kunzite, Opal, Rose Quartz, Sapphire, Smoky Quartz, Topaz. Safe In Water: Agate, Amber, Amethyst, Apatite, aventurine, Citrine, Clear Quartz, Jasper, Moonstone, Rose Quartz, Smoky Quartz. ___________________________________________________________

⠀⠀⠀⠀HOUSES ── opal
Tumblr media
Okhasis Prepatory School for Promising Mages is a prestigious institution that trains its students in the ways of magic, weapons, and other talents. Most notable is its housing system modeled after the six divine warriors.
In the beginning of their first year, students select the house which best suit their interests. In addition to basic classes, a student's house will decide their course of studies and seating arrangements during school-wide events such as the Beauty Festa or Grand Magic Games.
While it is tradition for students to remain with the house they pick until graduation, no child stays the same for six years, therefore it is encouraged for students to switch houses as they deem appropriate.
ㅤ──────────────────────────
I. CECILIA
The House of Cecilia, built in Irene's likeness, is focused on restoration and harnessing the powers of the natural world. Although Cecilia students are often perceived as feeble healers, the top alumni are capable of releasing the untamed wrath of nature—twisting briars to spring from the ground to ensnare enemies, summoning rain clouds to smother the flames of a fire, and restoring life to its former glory. Much like the Mother Goddess herself, Cecilia graduates become indispensable in the domains of combat or humanitarian aid.
The House of Cecilia's distinguishing color is lavender and it's emblem is a closed eye shedding five tears.
II. SOLEIL
The House of Soleil, built in Esmund's likeness, is dedicated to safeguarding and purging impurities. Soleil students are taught how to cast counterspells, create magical barriers, dispel or resist magic, and are generally known for their defensive nature. Most Soleil graduates intend on pursuing knighthood to protect their homeland or a position in the Ministry of Protection. As such, the House of Soleil is known for adopting a code of chivalry and promoting peace among the other houses.
(Although students from sister houses will often grumble," Soleil is really just the House of No." Inflicting damage? No. Buffs on allies? No. Magical restraints? No. Having fun on campus? No.)
The House of Soleil's distinguishing color is gold and it's emblem is a radiant sun.
III. VERENA
The House of Verena, built in Enki's likeness, is dedicated to unveiling the truths of the world. One distinctive feature of Verena is that its students are not required to expend mana, the magical energy that powers spells. Instead, Verena students are taught the occult disciplines of alchemy, runes, and divination.
Students are encouraged to blend their magic with traditional research and experimentation, resulting in alchemical bombs, the ability to read others' emotions, instantly appraising objects, and creating potions capable of altering reality. Verena graduates often pursue a greater career in academia or research institutions.
The House of Verena's distinguishing color is sea green and it's emblem is ouroboros.
IV. ASTORIA
The House of Astoria, built in Kul'zak's likeness, is centered on augmentation, a magical power that enables its practitioner to link their magic or imbue an object with magical essence. Despite the fact that Astoria students frequently lack the raw fighting prowess of their sister houses, their utility provides a huge boon. Students have the ability to enchant common weapons to give them magical powers, animate puppets to serve as servants, or enhance an ally's abilities beyond their normal capabilities.
Astoria graduates typically pursue a broad variety of occupations, much like the traveling divine warrior himself, although a sizable percentage have achieved success in the field of Magitek, magically enhanced technology.
The House of Astoria's distinguishing color is ultramarine and their emblem is a flying bluebird.
V. IRAE
The House of Irae, built in Menphia's likeness, places a strong emphasis on cultivating its students' innate magical powers. As opposed to its sister houses, which must obey the rules of nature, draw their magic from elsewhere, or dispel it entirely, students in the House of Irae are able to manifest the elements based on their natural affinity.
While a Verena's alchemically produced fireball will naturally fizzle out without material, the flame of an Irae student will continue to burn until its caster dismisses it. Irae pupils make up for their lack of variety with powerful, concentrated magical blasts, and their ranks are frequently seen in the militia of the knights.
The House of Irae's disgusting color is ruby and their emblem is a blazing flame.
VI. LUCINE
The House of Lucine, built in Shad's likeness, is the most controversial of the houses for its unique ability to manipulate the human body. Lucine students are trained to slow or accelerate heartbeats, influence their opponents' minds, possess bodies, and even control their own blood. Given the lethal nature of their study, Lucine students are frequently isolated from the rest of the student body and subject to strict regulations, though many worried parents have argued that this is insufficient.
When pressed why these pupils are still permitted to attend school, the headmaster responded that Lucine is no different from Cecilia, for both draw their power from life itself. Although many join their Soleil and Irae siblings in knighthood or even Cecilia in medical fields, the fate of Lucine graduates is largely sporadic.
The House of Lucine's disgusting color is silver and their emblem is an eclipsed moon

Alright buckle up, I'm going on a rant
So I was on Instagram and an add pop up. It's several rings. I see one that I find pretty so I look up the model just so I know what kind of price we're talking.
And my god do they have no shame ?
Alright so background information, I'm a geologist and a gemmologist so I know my rocks. The ring I found was this one :
Tumblr media
Natural back opal is one of the most expensive type of opal out there. Here, we have lab grown opal, you can tell by the stripped pattern. Uncut it looks like this :
Tumblr media
Now, no hate toward lab grown gems, the fact that we can imitate natural gems is pretty cool if you ask me.
BUT
Lab grown opal is obviously WAY cheaper than natural opal. Especially for black opal.
600$ looked pretty high for me so I looked up other rings in this style
Tumblr media
BAM WE LOOSE MORE THAN 450$ (still too expensive if you ask me but still).
THAT'S NOT ALL
If you were to buy the raw material (keep in mind that it's an estimate because I couldn't find prices directly from the lab)
Tumblr media
One slab big enough to do several rings is the price of one of the cheaper ring (keep in mind that you still have to make a ring out of it and you have to pay for that).
So let's be clear, do not buy a 600$ lab grown opal ring, it's not supposed to be that expensive.
Anyway always check where the gems in your jewelry is from folks <3

TTS/Vat7K re-write timeline
I’ve been working on this timeline/rewrite of events in TTS/Vat7K for quite awhile and I thought that I would share what I have so far :) And to anyone who spends the time to read all of this, first of all, thank you so much TvT and I hope you enjoyed! Also, if you have any feedback/questions/can't read what's in the images or would just like to talk about TTS or Vat7K, please feel free to DM me!! I’d love to see what people have to say! :D
Before continuing I’d like to note that I took inspiration from multiple other fan works to try to develop the world of TTS a bit more. This is also a WIP and is prone to change, thank you again!
To start off, I re-wrote the celestial lore for the series. I tried to keep the a similar feel to the original but lots of things were added anyways. I also slightly changed how the magic system works because I felt that the magic system was too soft in the original. (And for future reference, I will be calling the Dark Kingdom “Umbra” because I think that “The Dark Kingdom” is a dumb name for a kingdom.)
"A Long Time Ago”:
Before anything, there was a celestial being, drifting in the void, in a permanent stasis. When the primordial stasis is disrupted by the appearance of hunger, She is torn apart, unleashing chaos and, in turn, creates the cosmos. As She dies, hunger devours her, feeds and corrupts on her power; this force becomes Zhan Tiri. Other pieces of Her becomes the Sun, Moon, stars, and the molten embryo of the Earth. The Sun and the Moon create the Sundrop and the Moonstone respectively in order to restore balance. The cosmos essentially is an ecosystem growing in the carcass of a dead god.
The Sundrop and the Moonstone fall to the Earth, which at this point is a newly-formed ball of magma. The Sundrop and the Moonstone work together to cool and stabilize the Earth, effectively becoming the progenitors of life. The Moonstone's black rocks run through the outer core of the Earth, and the roots of the Sundrop encompass the Earth's crust.
The Sundrop’s magic is oriented around healing and restorative power. It can generate light and heat. The Healing Incantation heal injuries, cures illness, and pushes away death. In Rapunzel's case, she can use the Healing Incantation by releasing its power via her hair, tears, and (possibly) blood. The Aflame Incantation burns the life out of anything organic nearby the wielder. The Invocation of the Sun channels the raw power of the Sun itself through the Sundrop. Its effect is most pronounced during the daytime and strongest in the summer, when the Sun is closest. Using the Invocation consumes and burns the physical body of the user until the channeled power is released, which can be fatal.
The power of the Sundrop comes from within the pistil of the flower. The magic from the Sundrop is channeled through the (6) petals. If you were to pluck a petal, a new petal could not grow back in its place. Although some magic of the Sundrop does remain within the plucked petal.
The Moonstone’s magic is oriented around change, transformation, and stabilization. With the power of the Moonstone you are able manipulate the black opal rocks. Additionally,  the wielder is given black opal armor. The Persisting Incantation grants strength to simply persevere beyond your limits. The Decay Incantation siphons life out of all nearby living things. The Invocation of the Moon channels the raw power of the Moon itself through the Moonstone. It's strongest at night and when the Moon is full. It's also less dangerous than the Invocation of the Sun because it draws on the strength of the user's will rather than body, though incautious use can shatter the user's mind.
Zhan Tiri’s magic is centered around corruptive change. Zhan Tiri’s magic manipulates strengths into weakness, and weakness into strength. It gives by taking away. Zhan Tiri's basic nature is to hunger, but her domain has expanded in search of an answer to her insatiable appetite. She is heavily associated with cyclical change, particularly the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Rot and decay are her purview, but so are recovery and renewal.
The fusion (of the Drops and Zhan Tiri)  with that much power into a single being would cause a few minutes of intense disorientation and that creates a window of opportunity to break the fused power apart again; However this isn’t a “win” scenario either, because when you do that it is going to cause an explosion of power violent enough to shred the entire cosmos. The key to defeating a Zhan Tiri who wanted to acquire the Sundrop and Moonstone would be to stop her before she gets her hands on both Drops. Because the second both of them are in her possession it’s game over even if you manage to kill her. You either get an omnipotent god or you get the entire universe self-destructing.
Example of Drops/Zhan Tiri Magic:
Let’s say Alice, Bob, and Carol all break their arms.
Alice calls on the power of the Sundrop to heal herself, and her arm is instantly and perfectly repaired.
Bob calls on the power of the Moonstone, and it transforms the broken arm into solid stone; the pain is gone and the arm is no longer broken, but it is also no longer, strictly speaking, a human arm.
Carol entreats Zhan Tiri for healing, and Zhan Tiri sets the bone but also infuses it with her own magic, so it festers/grows into a well of power for Carol.
The Great Tree grew after the Sundrop and the Moonstone formed the Earth. And after eons of growing its roots wove into the Earth's crust and upper mantle, forming the tectonic plates. The Great Tree unified all living things.
Zhan Tiri spent a millennia questioning her purpose and searching for an answer for her feelings of emptiness. She found herself drawn to an unknown growing power, where she eventually came across the Great Tree. Zhan Tiri, in an attempt to quell her hunger, began to slowly corrupt the Great Tree. The corruption of the Great Tree caused the roots to grow weak, which in turn allowed the tectonic plates to shift and split into multiple continents. Zhan Tiri turned the Great Tree into her stronghold where she resided for millennia.
Legends of how Zhan Tiri corrupted the Great Tree spread in which cults dedicated to her started to pop up. Janus Point, the Great Tree, and the House of Yesterday's Tomorrow became places of worship for Zhan Tiri. As time goes on, myths of a magical flower and gemstone spread. The Sundrop's cult, People of the Sun, founded Corona (Old Corona). Where as the Moonstone Opal's cult, People of the Moon, founded Umbra.
It is around a few decades after the founding of Umbra, the Dark Kingdom, that the people found the Moonstone's location and discovered that they could harness the power of the Moonstone Opal. The person who held this power was dubbed the leader of the People of the Moon. The People of the Moon used this power to conquer other settlements. Umbra soon grew into the first and largest Kingdom.
The kings of Umbra would take on the Moonstone's power by allowing the Moonstone to infuse itself within the wielder. By allowing the Moonstone to infuse itself with the wielder externally it was possible to remove the Moonstone from one's self. This is how the Moonstone was passed down. Many of the king's in Umbra would lose their sanity by taking on the Moonstone so a the new king of Umbra is decided by a dual between the current king and suitors.
The Brotherhood is a clan with all it's clan members taken an oath of allegiance to the Moonstone Opal. In a sense the members of the Brotherhood have a higher standing than the king himself.
“2,000 Years Ago”:
Demanitus is born a scion of minor Old Coronan nobility. As a young boy, Demanitus learned about the Legend of the Sundrop which sparked his interest in magic, science, engineering, and alchemy. As he got older, he traveled across the Seven Kingdoms to further his research/knowledge. Traveling across the kingdoms inspired him to invent the seven stages of alchemical transformation.
The Seven Kingdoms:
Bayangor - Fire Kingdom
Known for their fast-booming economy, nation-wide sport games, fireworks, and their ancient history.
Bayangor's economy is based on manufacturing services, agriculture, and mining.
Temperate Climate
Large Temperate Forest Biome; Smaller Grassland and Montane Biome
Galcrest - Water Kingdom
Known for their meat industry, textiles, and the Borealis.
Galcrest's economy is based on their meat industry (fish, large mammals), textiles, research and development, and ships/shipping. Galcrest is made up of one large polar mainland. It consists mostly of tundra plains, large ice structures, and mountains.
Polar Climate
Tundra and Montane Biome
Koto - Air Kingdom
Known for their fancy garb, literature, classical music, ballroom dancing, other arts, and following traditions based on living an honorable and noble lifestyle.
Koto's economy is based on manufacturing, construction, and tourism.
Continental Climate
Large Grassland and Temperate Forest Biome; Smaller Desert Biome
Nesdernia - Earth Kingdom
Known for their traditional music, dance, food, and close relationships with flora and fauna.
Nesdernia's economy is based on fishing, farming, and ships. They are heavily dependent on imports of goods. Nesdernia consists of clusters of islands in which a vast majority are made up of large mangrove trees.
Tropical Climate
Rainforest Biome
Umbra - Dark Kingdom
Where the Moonstone resides. Known for their rich history and as the resting place of the Moonstone, the royal family coming from a long line of  conquerors, and as of current day, being the only kingdom to have fallen.
In the past, Umbra's economy was purely based on the services provided by other nations.
Continental Climate
Temperate Forest Biome
Ingvarr - Industrial Kingdom
Known for being very technologically advanced, the strength of their standing army, and their extraordinary architecture.
Although very economically divided, Ingvarr's economy is based on oil, gas, and heavy machinery and metalwork. Ingvarr has a close relationship with Bayangor because they rely on the materials that are mined their.
Dry Climate
Large Desert Biome; Smaller Grassland Biome
Corona - Light Kingdom
Known for their rich history and legends about Zhan Tiri, Demanitus, and the Sundrop, and their large festivals and banquets. Corona is also the only kingdom without a standing army.
Corona's economy is based on agriculture and tourism.
Continental Climate
Grassland Biome
During Demanitus' travels across the kingdoms he meets Zhan Tiri in the Great Tree. Zhan Tiri takes this opportunity to learn more about, her purpose, her increasing hunger, and the Sundrop and Moonstone. Demanitus and Zhan Tiri work together and take willing pupils under their wings.
Demanitus and Zhan Tiri built the Eternal Library in his home, which is now called Demanitus' Tomb, in the mountains. The Eternal Library contains all of his research and lab equipment. Because the Eternal Library is infused with Zhan Tiri's magic, if someone were to be trapped within the Library they would be incapable of change. And if they were to step out of the Library they would revert back to the state that they would have been if they didn't spend anytime in the Library. The Eternal Library also acted as a place of study for his pupils, similar to a school. In order to access his library, his students would have to go on a rite of passage called the Seven Trials of the Seven Kingdoms. Each trial itself teaches the psychological meaning behind each of the seven stages of alchemical transformation. Whereas the "totem" you receive at the end of the trial is a graphtic containing a scroll which accounts the chemical meaning of each stage of alchemical transformation in graph form. The final trial is using the lessons you've learned so far to create a "key" to open the Eternal Library. This "key" reacts, when close enough, with the frequency of the portal in order to open it (from the inside and outside). So if you were to go into the Eternal Library without this key, you would be trapped inside.
The Seven Stages of Alchemical Transformation:
(The psychological meaning of each stage is the lesson that the students must learn from the given trial.)
CALCINATION
Chemical: Heating a substance over a flame until it turns to ashes.
Psychological: Breaking down the ego and attachment to the worldly.
DISSOLUTION
Chemical: Dissolving ashes of substances into water.
Psychological: Immersion into the unconscious. Conscious mind releases control, leading to a resurfacing of parts of ourselves that were hidden.
SEPARATION
Chemical: Isolating and filtering the products of dissolution.
Psychological: Review resurfaced material and decide what to separate or integrate. What parts of our shadows can we learn from, and what hinders us?
CONJUNCTION
Chemical: Form a new substance from the separated elements we choose to keep.
Psychological: Merging of the conscious and the unconscious aspects of the self to a single essence. The union of dualities allows for the true self to emerge.
FERMENTATION
Chemical: Induce chemical breakdown of substance with bacteria or other micro-organisms.
Psychological: Initiation of spiritual awakening through testing the strength of the solution. To first create wine, grapes must rot. Suffering breeds resilience.
DISTILLATION
Chemical: Boil and condense solution to increase purity.
Psychological: Purification of the spirit - where we make sure the ego no longer controls us, giving us ability to appreciate the beauty of the collective self.
COAGULATION
Chemical: Transformation to a solid state.
Psychological: The union of matter and spirit that allows us to perceive the world without dualities, and to perceive life on all levels of consciousness. Similar to the state of Nirvana. The supposed end result is the famed Philosopher's Stone.
Sugracha Il Pchela, Tromus Matthias, and Calanthe Gothel all studied under Zhan Tiri and Demanitus. Zhan Tiri felt that she wasn't getting anywhere with Demanitus so she convinced and manipulated Sugracha Il Pchela, Tromus Matthias, and Calanthe Gothel, through dreams and visions, to help her find and take the Moonstone and Sundrop. Sugracha saw Zhan Tiri as something of a muse, Matthias had a more classic scholar-patron relationship with her and Calanthe wanted immortality, but she decided the price Zhan Tiri demanded was too steep, and decided that she would double-cross Zhan Tiri when she found the Sundrop. Demanitus became weary of his pupils and Zhan Tiri due to her violent nature and the corrupted nature of the Great Tree where she resided. Demanitus forged an enchanted spear to quell the Great Tree's corruption. Zhan Tiri felt threatened by Demanitus and started becoming violent and threating the things/people he cared for. Demanitus imprisoned Zhan Tiri under the Great Tree and imprisoned Sugracha on Janus Point and Matthias within the House of Yesterday's Tomorrow.
After trapping Zhan Tiri in the Great Tree, Demanitus with the help of his remaining pupil, Calanthe, continued to study the Moonstone and search for the Sundrop. They eventually found the location of the Sundrop but did not know how to use its true power. It's around this time that Corona's great blizzard occurred but Zhan tiri being responsible for the blizzard is legend. But on the contrary, Demanitus weather machine is real. Demanitus eventually retires, settles down, and starts a family. No one knows where Demanitus resides now. (Note: In this re-write, Xavier is a descendant of Demanitus.)
Over the course of the next few years, fewer and fewer people completed the Seven Trials and gained access to the Eternal Library. These people who continued to study Demanitus' research are responsible for the creation the Demanitus scroll. It's at this point that Calanthe started to use the power of the Sundrop to gain immortality and maintain her beauty. Calanthe made an effort to keep this power to herself. And eventually, the library and its knowledge was lost to legend.
“Present Time”:
For this timeline of events, I’m assuming that Rapunzel turns 18 in the year 1840.
The first ruler of Corona, Robin XI had changed the location of Corona, and had ultimately built Corona Castle. Where Corona once was, is now called Old Corona, where a farming village resides.
The oldest known of Corona's line of monarchs is King Herz Der Sonne. During his reign, Corona was in a bitter war with their rival kingdom, Saporia. Under King Der Sonne's rule, a complex tunnel system was built beneath Corona to safely move the kingdom's knights and supplies wherever King Der Sonne needed. A detailed map of the tunnels and their secrets were recorded in a journal, by Der Sonne. At one point, Corona was invaded by Der Sonne's sworn enemy, the ruthless General Shampanier. As her minions ravaged the kingdom, Shampanier made it to Corona Castle, where she battled Der Sonne personally. In the midst of their battle, Shampanier finds that the final pages of Der Sonne's journal contained a profession of his love, intended for her. The feelings were mutual, and the two declared their love. They were later married, and with their union brought peace between their two lands.
After the war between Corona and Saporia had ended in a romantic unity between its two leaders - and by extension, their lands - a small sect of Saporians and Coronans felt betrayed by the merge, and swore revenge. The Coronan Separatists want the Saporians to leave Corona while the Saporian Separatists want Saporia to be its own nation again.
Donella was born in the busy city within Ingvarr's walls in 1791. She had a quiet upbringing; Her parents weren't around, busy with their work. They had limited time and saw that she was very self-sufficient so they thought it was alright to leave her alone. Due to this, she had all her physical needs, a large house, room, clothing, food, but not much of the emotional needs. She realized that the only time she’d get more attention was when she excelled in her studies of engineering and logistics. She spent so much time making detailed notes it was easy to recreate them. Her notes were quantitative with charts and the occasional diagram. This resulted in her pushing herself academically but also developing the idea that all of her worth was tied to her work. It also started this idea that there was something fundamentally wrong with her. She was an outcast, but she didn't mind it. She didn't understand people and they didn't bother to understand her.
Ulla and her twin brother, Ulf, were born in the outskirts of Ingvarr in 1794. Their parents were bakers and raised animals. Ulla was a loud and messy kid who was unafraid to call people out for being stupid, for picking on her brother, etc. She tended to talk very fast and jump from one tangent to the next. She always had a bitterness towards people who didn't believe she was capable and always made an effort to prove them wrong. She has the ability to trust her gut and make quick decisions but struggled to manage her strong emotions. Many people chose to only see Ulla's good traits and ignore the bad, which made her feel like she had parts of herself that were undesirable. This made Ulla hyper-aware of her own flaws but instead of confronting the issue she ran away and swept them under the rug like others did to her in general. Ulla first discovered chemistry, alchemy, and legends of Demanitus in the library within Ingvarr's large city. Ulla grew fond of  the messy nature of potions, seeing reactions taking place and putting together all the parts and pieces, actually mixing things and measuring them out. Her notes were fairly messy and often had pictures and diagrams.
Ulla saw Donella in the Ingvarrian library and made an effort to become friends with Donella. Donella was taken back by this, she didn't understand why Ulla wanted to be friends with her. They eventually became friends after Ulla continued to make an effort to get to know Donella. They bonded over engineering, chemistry, and the legends of Demanitus. Donella made Ulla feel heard because Donella is honest and direct. And Donella was captivated by Ulla's optimism; Ulla was Donella's first friend so she became very attached to her. Donella developed feelings for Ulla over time but because she struggles with emotional vulnerability, she never gave Ulla a reason to believe that she felt that way. They spent most of their childhood together and eventually became co-workers. They balanced each other out through their work. Donella would make sure that they had a plan and Ulla would make sure that the work got done. As young adults, they decided that they would travel across the Seven Kingdoms together to continue their research. Before this journey, Donella gifted Ulla a green almanac. This almanac is the same one that will eventually detail their research on the Seven Trials and the Eternal Library.
Eugene is Born in the Dark Kingdom, Umbra in 1817.
Cassandra is born to Calanthe Gothel in 1818.
Quirin was born in Umbra, the Dark Kingdom. As a young adult, he joins the Brotherhood alongside Adira and Hector.
In 1821, Donella and Ulla arrive at the Dark Kingdom, Umbra to study the Moonstone. This is where they meet Quirin, who falls in love with Ulla. Ulla eventually falls for Quirin, too. Quirin never really understood Ulla but they were both happy. Quirin saw her light and joy but could never follow her when it came to her interests in chemistry and alchemy. Ulla felt pressured to be perfect so she took the 'fake it til you make it' approach and started to act cocky to hide her insecurities. Donella called her out on this. Donella and Ulla were only supposed to be in Umbra for about a month but Ulla kept dragging; Donella didn't fight her on it since the Moonstone was really interesting. Donella pushed Ulla towards Quirin because he seemed like her best option. All she wanted was for Ulla to be happy even if it was without her.
(1822) Frederic became King and married Arianna who became Queen. During her pregnancy, Arianna became gravely ill, forcing the citizens of the kingdom to search for a fabled magic, golden flower with healing abilities. Once it was retrieved, the flower was given to Arianna, and its power saved both the queen and her daughter, named Rapunzel. Due to the flower's powers, Rapunzel was born with golden hair that also had the ability to heal the sick and injured. Because of this, a woman named Mother Gothel - who had previously hoarded the flower's power for hundreds of years to keep herself young - broke into the castle, stole Rapunzel, and hid her deep within the forest outside of Corona's reach. Rapunzel was then raised as Gothel's daughter, and her power to heal was hoarded by the witch once more. To ensure she never lost the flower's magic again, Gothel forbade Rapunzel from ever leaving the tower.
When the Sundrop was pulled from the ground, it was separated from (most) of its roots and the Earth. This put the Earth in a state if unbalance which made the backs rocks run rampant. And because the Sundrop was separated from its roots, the roots that hold the crust of the Earth together would start to die. When Queen Ariana consumed the magic of the Sundrop her unborn baby, Rapunzel, obtained the power of the Sundrop. Which by extension made Rapunzel the new Sundrop (her hair is the equivalent to the Sundrop's petals).
King Edmund grew tired of the lives lost to the inheritance of the Moonstone but his views became warped due to his decreasing sanity. Thinking that the Moonstone was a source of evil and corruption he attempts to remove and destroy it. The Brotherhood, being the protectors of the Moonstone, attempt to prevent the King from doing this. However, a fight breaks out and Umbra is nearly destroyed by the King. There were multiple citizen casualties in addition to the death of the Queen. It is in this event that Eugene was orphaned and was later sent to the Coronan orphanage. In this event, the members of the Brotherhood and more importantly, Quirin, took on some of the after glow of the Moonstone. Riddled with guilt Edmund assigned The Brotherhood to evacuate the surviving subjects and to prevent anyone from entering the Kingdom.
In late 1822, Quirin, Ulla, and Donella arrive and settle down in Old Corona within Corona's walls. And In early 1824, Ulla and Quirin get married.
Hugo is born in Ingvarr in 1825. Hugo lived in the orphanage, which resided in the slums of Ingvarr, for the first years of his life. He was fostered a few times but was brought back to the orphanage each time. His last foster parents left him in the streets and had to fend for himself (~1830). He promised himself that he would refuse to live off scraps and get back at the nobility that wronged him.
Hugo grew up an orphan. Ingvarr has a very highly divided class system and Hugo was determined to find a way not to live on scraps. And not just that, but to get back at and take advantage of as many rich idiots as possible. He’s Robin Hood robbing the rich to feed himself. He develops technologies and other things for the rich people who invest in him. Although, he just withheld the best stuff for himself (ie. his motorized bike) and do what he needed to stay in his patrons’ good graces. He’d steal whatever they didn’t give him and never get caught. Donella and her gang offered protection more than anything so most of his work goes to her first. Including his sneakier services. That’s how he ends up being the one to go after Varian. All of this is also why he’d switch alliances on Donella. Hugo has a wild compass but he follows it in service of himself pretty much always. Becoming close to Varian changes that streak in him. Living with Donella would keep him off the streets and provide protection but being with Varian and his new friends makes him happy.
Leading up to Varian's birth, and just after, Ulla had this insecurity building. She was terrified she'd be a bad mother. She was also worried about her career and not being able to work as heavily on it once Varian got older. Quirin tried to comfort her regarding her worries, whereas Donella was a nervous mess.
Varian is born in Old Corona to Ulla and Quirin in 1826. Because Quirin took on some of the afterglow of the Moonstone, similar to how Queen Arianna passed down the full strength of the Sundrop to Rapunzel, Quirin passed down that afterglow to Varian. Because of this, Varian has a resistance to the Moonstone's power, represented by the teal streak in his hair. After Varian was born, Donella helped take care of and babysit him. Donella was considered to be Varian's aunt. Varian called Donella, 'Don-Don. Donella, at this time, was feeling like an extra piece now that Ulla, Quirin, and Varian were a picture perfect family.
Donella’s unrest grew until one day she re-discovered  legends about the Seven Trials and the Eternal Library. She looked into the legends on her own and came across Demanitus' tomb in the Coronan mountains. Donella brought up her findings with Ulla, saying that they could complete the Trials together while Varian was still very young and wouldn't remember; And that she could both, a career cementing her legacy and a family. Ulla happily and eagerly agreed. They both agreed that would aim to be back within a year and a half. Quirin felt hesitant about their trip at first but Ulla insisted that this is what she wanted and she reassured him that she would come back to him and Varian. Ulla had promised that she would send letters. During their trip, Donella had been going easier on Ulla and not holding her back as much as she did before. This is due to the growing guilt she felt for taking her away from her new family.
Princess Nuru is born in the Air Kingdom, Koto in 1828.
This next part is about the events that happen in the Eternal Library with Ulla and Donella. I’m a bit embarrassed to share this part because I am not confident in my abilities as a writer BUT I’ll share it anyways cus I’m desperate for Vat7K content TvT
(Early 1828) Once they entered the Eternal Library, they both immediately started exploring. While Donella was drawn to the many books and journals, Ulla started observing the lab equipment that was spread across the Library. Donella stubbled upon a journal which was encoded in mysterious text. She brings this book to Ulla who was tampering with old vials of miscellaneous chemical compounds. Donella and Ulla discuss how fascinating the Library is and how its amazing that it even existed in the first place considering it was only a legend. Ulla continues to say that if the Eternal Library turned out to be real, think of all the other legends that could be real.
The two women continue to explore the Library and Demanitus' tomb itself for a few weeks. When either one of them would exit the Library after a long study session they would be notably fatigued. This made Donella worried and more cautious of the Library; Whereas Ulla would not think too much of it and continue her research. Ulla began to send letters back to Quirin less and less which Donella took notice of. Donella would remind her to send letters to him which Ulla happily complied to, saying thank you to Donella.
Ulla studied the encoded journals which led her down a rabbit hole about the nature of Zhan Tiri. Ulla became enamored by the Eternal Library, possessive almost. Donella brought this up to Ulla, who became defensive about it, saying that Donella didn't understand and that she felt that she was so close to a breakthrough. Donella then stepped in, saying that she's been sending less letters to Quirin, that she's losing herself, and that it was time for her to go back home to Quirin and Varian. Ulla told Donella not to bring them into this and that it was Donella's idea to do this in the first place. She went on to say that Donella was trying to destroy all their hard work and that she didn't care anymore.
Ulla throws her almanac at Donella. They continue to argue and yell at one another until Donella goes to grab Ulla and in response she grab a random vial from her belt and hit Donella in the face with it. This leaves Donella with an acid burn on the left side of her face. Donella bellows in pain. Ulla rushes to Donella's side and profusely apologizes and tries to help. This is when Ulla realizes that the "key" is being dissolved by the acid that was thrown at Donella. Ulla reacts by helping Donella up and quickly picking up the dissolving "key" as she rushes to the portal's exit. As the portal closes Ulla makes a split second decision to push Donella through the portal to save her. When Donella hits the ground on the other side of the portal, she hazily calls out to Ulla as the portal closes and she is trapped inside.
Donella weakly attempts to get up as she continues to cry out for Ulla. All that remains of Ulla is her almanac, that records her research on the Seven Trials and the Eternal Library. When she finally is able to stand up she attempts make a new "key" just can't bring herself to do it. She spends about 6 days alone within Demanitus' tomb.
Eventually, Donella makes her back to Old Corona with Ulla's almanac to inform Quirin about her.
I was thinking of an interaction like this when Donella tells Quirin about Ulla. Omg this is also embarrassing to share wAH TvT
Donella appears at the entrance to Quirin's home, almanac in hand. Quirin opens the door
Quirin
"Donella!....*look down to see the almanac* Where's- Where's Ulla?"
Moment of silence
Donella
*Shakily* "She's- she's gone..."
Quirin
*Grabs Donella's shoulders* Donella, where's Ulla?*
Donella
*Begins to cry* "I'm sorry..."
Quirin pulls Donella into a one-sided hug as they both cry
Donella
"I'm...I'm so sorry, Quirin. I'm sorry"
In the corner of Donella's eye she sees a small Varian. Not understanding the situation but seeing his dad and aunt in distress he goes to hug Donella's leg. This causes her to completely break down.
After a tender moment between the three, Quirin helps Donella with her injuries and Donella gives Quirin Ulla's almanac.
I’m gonna out a slight trigger warning here for this next section for mental illness and self-harm. If that something you don’t want to read please skip this part.
No one knows what happened to Ulla exactly except for Donella. Rumors start to be spread around that Donella herself killed Ulla. Donella simply let everyone think that she killed Ulla to preserve her image and avoid killing her memory. Due to the rumors and her scars, it gave her this reputation as someone to be feared, which she embraced because she thought she deserved to be seen as a monster. Eventually she leaned into that idea and lost her morals, she didn't care if she lived or died, she didn't strive to be a good person because she truly believed she wasn't capable of it. She returned to her and Ulla's lab back in Ingvarr to make a new "key" but every time she tried failed or couldn't go through with it due to her having breakdowns. She was very much not like her usual put together self. Her wounds were healing but she would stare at herself in the mirror with this overwhelming anxiety in her chest like she had to it off her face. She would rub and scratch at her face; anything to get that feeling away.
Trigger warning is over :)
Kiera and Catalina are born in 1829.
Donella eventually was able to pour herself back into her work and started to make weapons for the criminals that lurked in the underbelly of Ingvarr. She met Cyrus and the two got along. They had mutual respect where they didn't understand one another but enjoyed each other's company. Cyrus stared working for her and became her advisor and muscle. Cyrus was the person who helped her start her crime ring because Donella doesn’t understand social cues well enough to do it herself. He was able to frame her awkward tendencies as something scary. If she was being quiet he made people think she was judging them or brooding, etc.
(1831) Donella was out one day when a young boy, Hugo (8), pickpockets her on the streets. Donella takes notice of this and she approaches him once they were away from the crowd. Seeing that he had created a primitive robotic mouse and that he was almost able to get away from her, Donella offers to take Hugo in if he worked for her. She felt sympathy for him, but decided she couldn't form a connection with someone so she did her best to frame it as a working relationship. Hugo is reluctant to go with her because of his fear and anger of being left behind but he sees Donella's offer as an opportunity to get off the streets. Hugo reminded Donella of Varian and when ever that would happen she'd wall herself off and push him away. She didn't want him to be attached to her and vice versa. Hugo would run away a lot, which would make Donella worry but she forced herself to be distant from him. When this would happen, Donella would send one of her men to go find him and bring him back. Because of this, Hugo learned that people would only want him around if he was useful and otherwise they would leave him. This also enforced the idea that he should leave the people he cares about before they leave him.
Yong is born in the Fire Kingdom, Bayangor in 1832.
Yong has a large loving family who all love Yong very much but they are all very tired of his antics. His family attempts to find a way for Yong to express himself and learn new things so they hire scholars who are willing to teach him. Yong goes though many mentorships due to the mentors giving up on him because of his explosive nature. When Varian finally comes along, Yong and his family are very grateful that he is willing to take Tony under his wing.
(1840) Seventeen years after her kidnapping—on the eve of her eighteenth birthday—Rapunzel met a notorious thief named Flynn Rider. With his help, she managed to escape Mother Gothel, return to Corona, and reunite with her biological parents. Rapunzel then resumes her rightful place as princess and heir to Corona's throne.
TTS Storyline:
I have basically nothing written down for this section. I have the basic idea on what I’d like to change about TTS I just don’t have anything written down.

Buying Crystals - Lab-Grown Crystals
Part 3 of a 7 part guide on buying crystals. Read the rest here!
Lab-grown (synthetic) crystals get a bad rep within metaphysical circles for no good reason. Why should you give them a chance?
What Makes a Crystal Lab-Grown?
Synthetic crystals are crystals made in a controlled artificial environment that simulates their natural growing conditions. This is done in two ways: high pressure/high temperature, where a seed crystal is placed in carbon and exposed to the high pressure and temperature similar to what it would experience in the ground; and chemical vapour deposition, where the seed crystal is heated in a chamber filled with gas that allows the seed to grow layers of crystal.¹
You can actually watch how crystals are made on YouTube!

Quartz

Corundum, flame vs flux
Emeralds
Diamonds
Differences and Similarities Between Synthetics and Natural Crystals
Ways in which they’re similar:¹ ⁸
Chemical composition. Any synthetic crystal you get is going to be identical in chemical properties to any natural crystal. Which also means they are also the same in...
Crystal structure, or lack thereof. Opals are trickier to get right because they’re not real crystals; their atomic structure isn’t repeated in a specific pattern. That amorphous quality is why they have their fire! However, most crystals are real crystals, and thus, their crystal structure is easy to replicate in the lab.
Colour
Hardness.
Refractive index.
Ways in which they’re different:¹⁻²
More uniform appearance. Uncut synthetics look incredibly edible, like Jolly Ranchers. Natural crystals often have varying colours.
Odd overall appearance. synthetics, when uncut, look like chunks of glass, blocks, or otherwise unnatural shapes. Natural crystals vary wildly in shape, but have that crystal appearance with cracks and points and geometric shapes that you instantly recognise as a crystal.
Clarity. Due to their highly controlled environment, synthetics have superior colour clarity and colour intensity than natural counterparts. synthetics, when cut, can resemble the most perfect of natural crystals.
These differences is why you will often see synthetics not sold as raw crystals, but as faceted gems, though you can find raw synthetics online.
Benefits of Buying Synthetics Over Natural Crystals
If you are concerned about ethics and price, synthetics are your best friend. Because they are easily made, they’re often much cheaper than real crystals, and because they are made in labs, they’re not subject to the human rights abuses and environmental harm that mines often cause.¹⁻³
The Metaphysical Argument Against Synthetics
Part one of this series about the ethics around crystals is recommended reading here because I will retread the same ground.
The main metaphysical argument I see is that crystals take on the energy of the environment they’re grown in, and their healing power comes from being in the Earth.⁴ ⁷ ⁸ Lab-grown crystals may have the same healing properties, but they are less powerful due to their artificial origin.⁵ They may also take on the energies of the lab and the people who made them, affecting their ability to do their job.⁴ I found one that claims they are “devoid” of the energy used to make them effective for healing⁶, and another claiming they are “energetically dead.” ⁷
If you believe this, there’s not much I can do to change you from that. There’s no central text of crystal authority like there is for Christianity. But, if you will humour me, let me talk though some common stances on how crystals are able to heal in reference to synthetics.
Suppose synthetics can take on the energies of the lab. Why can’t your natural crystals take on the massive energetic outpouring of human suffering in these mines? Does the Earth’s energy override the grief, anger, sadness, anxiety, and death surrounding the crystal as it is mined? If the human suffering that may be attached to your crystal is not enough (for reasons I can’t fathom), think about the energies of the Earth being violently disturbed and permanently altered by the process of mining. Do you think a crystal will have the same energies if mined in a way that furthers the destruction of the environment as one that is mined more consciously?
Suppose you believe that the healing properties come from the physical and chemical structure of the crystal. In that case, there’s no reason to be concerned about synthetics. As I’ve shown above, they are identical to natural crystals. Their crystalline structure is the same, their chemical composition is the same: they are the same thing!
Suppose you believe that crystals have no inherent power, but the intent behind their use is what drives their effects. In that case, there’s no metaphysical reason to prefer natural crystals over synthetics. It wouldn’t matter if you were using a natural crystal, synthetic crystal, a plastic crystal, an ice cube (which is scientifically a crystal), slag, or anything else because the power doesn’t come from the crystal itself, it comes from you.
I can’t stop you from believing that synthetics are lesser than natural, but think about the reasons and logical conclusions of said belief. Why would synthetics hold the energy of those who created them if naturals don’t have the energy of those who mined them? Why would a crystal with identical physical properties outside of how it was made be metaphysically different from the real one?
I get it. Natural crystals are pretty and I don’t like how obviously artificial synthetics look. It feels better spiritually to own something made in the Earth than something grown in a lab because it makes you feel connected to the Earth. But again, is that worth human suffering? Is that worth environmental destruction? And failing those (again, for reasons I can’t fathom), is it worth your wallet?
Speaking of your wallet, in the next part I’ll be covering trademarked crystals. If that sounds fucked up to you, you’re absolutely right.

Any crystals that you think are cool and that more people should know about?
Sorry for the late reply (I'm busy traveling) but yes!!! I don't have ground breaking totally unknown crystals for you but from my collection I will tell talk about some fun little rocks.
-
Let's start with what is arguably my favourite crystal and it's a pretty underrated one;
iolite
Yes, that's where the Violet_Iolite username comes from (it's my username almost everywhere else besides here)
Tumblr media
I have a polished and cut iolite which surprisingly might not be the most interesting form of this mineral. Iolite, or cordierite (the actual mineral name, iolite is the name used in the gem selling business) is a stone that depending on the side it can vary from a light yellow to a purple/blue. Mine is cut in a way where the blue is always the most visible but the sides have the slightest nod to the yellow. Some of the best raw forms will change between these two colours if you turn them around.
Tumblr media
I will say the iolite names comes from the Greek ios, violet. So yes, my Minecraft username is something like Violet violet (stone).
-
Next I will talk about fake crystals versus lab grown ones...
When I say a fake crystals I mean crystals that are sold as other ones when that's not what they are.
Lab grown gems are different in the way that they are chemically the same as natural gems found in nature. In case of diamonds for example is much better for the environment (and in some cases for the health of the miners) if you get a lab grown one. However not all gems are possible to produce in a lab, sometimes they're more expensive to produce in the lab and in cases of quartz based gems the natural gems are so common it isn't worth it.
I'm mentioning this because of the next gems I will show.
-
Moonstone and sunstone.
Moonstones and sunstones are probably the gems that are most faked (turquoise too but at least turquoise is rare).
Moonstone is a type of light coloured stone (either white, sometimes pink) which has a very pretty blue glow (occasionally it gets a yellow one too) only in certain angles. Opaline (or opalite), a man made gem, is very commonly sold as moonstone however opaline is not even close to being moonstone. Opaline is translucent in a way moonstone isn't and it doesn't have the shine moonstone has. Opaline is a type of glass which commonly has dolomite and metal to make it the colour it is. It was actually made to copy opals so I don't really know why people try calling it moonstone.
Next is sunstone! Orange or brown in colour sunstone is not that special looking. If it's high-quality it will be more translucent and it might have some touches of sparkles but it's not usually something very strong. Our fake stone this time is Goldstone. Also a man made glass goldstone is made with copper.
There's a blue version of golstone which instead of having copper it has cobalt or manganese.
Tumblr media
I have booth types of goldstone (the blue one is my favourite)
Tumblr media
-
One that is moderately well known but it's absolutely cool anyway:
Alexandrite
One I recommend you buy lab grown or you'll waste all the money you have. Alexandrite is super cool because depending on the type of light you shine on it the colour will change completely. My alexandrite when in LED light (the light that most lamps have nowadays) or natural light is green. When under incandescent light (old lamps) it gets completely pink. If you lived only under incandescent light you'd believe it to be a pink stone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When under both types of light:
Tumblr media
-
Chalcopyrite (peacock)
Similar to pyrite but softer, with copper and and can tarnish with pretty colours chalcopyrite is a pretty cool metal. Wikipedia says it is "the most abundant copper ore mineral." So the copper you have in your cables is most likely from this mineral.
Chalcopyrite is in front and the pyrite (unfocused) is in the back of the picture.
Tumblr media
-
Bismuth
I could've actually gotten an ok priced natural bismuth but I decided that getting a bigger sized would probably be better. This one might be lab grown. I'm not sure. The lady that sold me didn't know where it was from. It is 100% heat treated either way, as heating it gives it the lovely colours it has. It is a metal and according to Wikipedia it is "both the most diamagnetic element and one of the least thermally conductive metals known."
Tumblr media
So... The last two are actually metal and not crystal but they are cool rocks so it's fine either way.
