do you have any thoughts about how vessel was trained? not trying to dissect his background/potentially trudge up personal stuff, but im so curious how people think his music was influenced since he mainly plays piano but can do other instruments too. i also have no musical knowledge so i have no idea the difference between classically trained, etc 🥹
Hello, Anon 🖤 Thank you for the ask! I have next to no musical knowledge myself, but I do have A Lot™️ of thoughts about how Vessel was trained. I'll do my best to go into details without getting into identity stuff, but just in case, this will all be below the cut so people can scroll past if they wish.
Okay. So. Vessel is a musical genius. I'm not saying that like, "Omg, he's so good at music and playing the piano and—" No. He's an actual genius. I've seen one source that claims he can learn any song by ear, and Vessel's YouTube channel with the piano covers he would make among his original songs. Obviously, he's not like… Mozart or something, but he is brilliant and very good at what he does.
I know that he has someone close to him who was/is a musician and fellow music lover, and I believe that is what kickstarted everything for Vessel at a very young age. He most likely was given piano lessons, and it probably evolved from there to learning guitar/bass when he got a bit older, and then by the time he was a teenager, he was learning how to compose and mix his own music (albeit with limited access to music production programs and equipment).
Regarding proper schooling, Vessel pursued his love of creating music in his education and graduated from a music institute for Songwriting. I'm not sure if there was a more formal title like Composing or Music Production or if maybe "Songwriting" automatically includes all of that. Vessel was claimed to be "a trained pianist" for one of his projects prior to Sleep Token. Still, it's unclear if that means he was Classically Trained, meaning he took music history courses and has an in-depth knowledge of music theory. Since he did graduate from a music institute, I'm assuming that he is Classically Trained, but I have not seen/heard actual evidence of that.
It's fascinating listening to the evolution of Vessel's music and his skills, even with something like "Arachnophobia" to "Thread the Needle." (There are much better examples, but I'm only just now realizing while editing this that I don't have them posted yet🤦♀️)
That's about as specific as I can get without stating something too majorly personal or revealing. If anyone wants, I'd happily continue this conversation or answer any questions in a more private atmosphere, such as in DMs.

Hey Mac,
I've been thinking about using a rollator for a while and was wondering if you or your followers had brand/product recommendations? I'm not necessarily looking for the cheapest possible model and would primarily be using it for the seat & not for stability when walking, if that makes a difference! Anyways, your blog has been such a positive force in my life, and has encouraged me to really start LIVING with me/cfs instead of just surviving with it!

i actually did my biomedical engineering senior project in undergrad on standard vs forearm rollators & would be happy to send that research to you (& anybody) if you want the sources + additional info, just dm me your email!
basically a rollator with forearm support platforms (either add-on attachments or built in) offloads more weight from the lower body than a standard rollator, which can do more to reduce leg/foot/etc pain. it also offers better stability & can reduce the risk of hunching over it which could lead to further issues such as back pain (although it’s definitely possible to stand upright with a properly fit standard rollator, it just takes more conscious effort ime). since you’re mainly looking for a seat that might not be relevant to you though! other than price their main downside is being a bit heavier than standard rollators
i use the Gemino 30 upright walker, unfortunately she’s very expensive (mine’s a hand-me-down) and difficult to obtain in the US at least as of 2020 but there’s a senior supply store that has worked with a friend on shipping so i can try to track them down if you’re particularly interested in that model.
anecdotally i know folks who’ve been very dissatisfied with the UPWalker (formerly the Lifewalker Upright) and felt it wasn’t worth the steep price so a generic model might do you better there. my health went (further) to shit before i was able to actually test out any generics or attachments so i don’t have any specific data there
as far as standard rollators the Hugo Elite by Drive Medical was what i used as my control in testing, selected based on popularity & customer reviews - it’s about $80-130 USD new depending on where you’re shopping and definitely seemed quality to me (sturdy, the seat was comfortable, pretty easy to fold/unfold but i had way fewer hand problems at the time) but i wasn’t doing much testing outdoors etc

you know marsha p johnson wasn't at stonewall and also was literally a man right? like he didn't identify as a "trans lesbian" or whatever, that's mainly a 21st century invention, and there's literally video footage of him shortly before he died calling himself a feminine gay man. the fact that you can't see a feminine gay man as a real man is a product of your own homophobia and your own love for traditional gender roles.
and your claim that he "threw the first brick" or whatever (there were no bricks thrown, and again, he wasn't there) is intentionally detracting from Stormé DeLarverie, the Black butch lesbian who was actually at stonewall and actually initiated the riot. so maybe you're just a lesbophobe?

what i can tell you is that the first use of the word trans was in 1969 (while transsexual came before it in 1949), and the lesbian was first used in 1732, so people are capable of putting two and two together and calling themselves a trans lesbian. even if they didnt, that doesnt mean they didnt exist, it just had different terms
