Propaganda
Ruby Myers (Typist Girl, Cinema Queen)— I just recently saw a documentary about her and thought that besides being really pretty, she had a very interesting life. She was born in the early 1900s in India to a Baghdadi Jewish family, and became the first woman to act in an Indian silent film. In the 1930s she started her own film production house, Rubi Pics, way before most female producers in Hollywood broke through. More info can be found in this Golden Globes webpage on her life [link]
Ginger Rogers (Swing Time, Top Hat)—Look I’ll level with you, I’ve never seen her in a musical and I know that she’s an amazing dancer and she’ll be even hotter when I finally watch Top Hat but I’m not submitting her as a dancer I’m submitting her as an ACTRESS. Her comic timing is impeccable!!!!! She’s full to bursting with life and in every role she seems to be having FUN, you can practically feel the twinkle in her eye. With her natural warmth it’s like she’s letting you in on the joke, y’all get to have this fun together! Making me laugh is hot!!! [If you'd like to see Ginger dance, videos below the cut]
This is round 2 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Ruby Myers:

Ginger Rogers propaganda:
Tumblr media
She needs no introduction! An undeniable powerhouse on the dancefloor, and no less talented an actress. I once watched a compilation of cinema's greatest dance scenes and one of her and Fred Astaire's dances was featured, and one of the talking heads said he pitied her for 'having to keep up with him' - or something to that effect. Bullshit, I cry. Ginger Rogers was his absolute equal, and underplaying her incredible skill is downright criminal. I want the 'Cheek to Cheek' sequence from Top Hat to be permanently burned into my memory.
Tumblr media
"Backwards in high heels", as the saying goes (though the pedant in me must point out that she in fact spent her fair share of time leading or dancing side-by-side). One of the earliest twinkle-toed ladies of the silver screen, and in terms of acting/persona, her balance of wide-eyed cuteness and movie-star glamour has never quite been replicated.
Tumblr media
we all know her beloved string of musicals with fred but ginger also has an extensive and varied non-fred filmography that she's great in! a few ginger moments that are important 2 me personally ginger singing “we’re in the money” in gold diggers of 1933, complete with a verse in pig latin bc this whole movie is kinda mocking the concept of anyone actually being in the money in 1933; ginger and una merkel singing a verse of “shuffle off to buffalo” in 42nd street, providing some statler & waldorf-esque commentary on newlyweds from the upper berth of a railway car (interesting that belly was apparently a risque word in 1933 - maybe its bc the lyric is innuendo-ing about out of wedlock pregnancies - and that panties was a term for men’s underthings!); a favorite fred & ginger number
Tumblr media
Ginger Rogers could do everything! She could sing, dance and act. She was hilarious in comedies, moving in dramatic roles (she won an Oscar for Kitty Foyle in 1940) and absolutely gorgeous!
Listen, no shade to Fred Astaire at all, but she both kept up with him step for step and then later went on to WIN AN OSCAR FOR ACTING. (which he did not.) truly a double threat!!!
Tumblr media
One of the best dancers in Hollywood! Her work with Fred Astaire is just incredible.
ONE LINE: "Everything Fred did, Ginger did backwards and in heels" AND THEYRE RIGHT! Rogers was a total dance badass, and a lot of movie buffs know the story, but the Never Gonna Dance number from Swing Time took almost 50 takes, and allegedly by the end of filming it her white shoes had been stained pink because her feet were bleeding. As a note, she looks crazy gorgeous in this number. Watching these two dance is insane. They match up to each other in a way my mom describes as "divine" and she's right. DANCE NUMBERS!
youtube
Let's Call The Whole Thing Off (Shall We Dance, 1937, dancing starts at 3:14, they're in ROLLERSKATES)
youtube
(Ginger Rogers is the hottest woman ever to live in this number. seeing this as a teenager altered my brain chemistry)
youtube
(also watch her feet and how she moves opposite Astaire in this one. We all know our boy Freddie had that precision demon but jesus christ Miss Rogers, let a girl live!)
Pick Yourself Up, Swing Time 1936 (Everyone's seen this one but by god you are going to see it AGAIN!)
youtube
Shall We Dance, 1937 (duet begins at 2:34)
youtube
Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, Roberta 1935 (There's just something about Ginger Rogers in a slick black dress man)
youtube
The Continental, The Gay Divorcee 1934
youtube
God she's MAGIC in this one.
Gay Divorcee's Ending Montage 1934The infamous table and chairs spin happens at about 0:49. Pay CLOSE attention to her in this bc it looks like witchcraft and I feel lightheaded whenever I watch this movie bc shes THAT awesome.
youtube
She is a miracle to watch. Sorry for the sheer amount of clips. My entire family is like madly in love with Ginger Rogers.

Academia
Listened to a podcast on Plant Kingdom. I realized how much of the chapter I actually know and how much I dont.
Watched a video on learning oxidation states of P-Block elements.
I had watched this one in hurry last time and I regret not paying attention. But time, I'm actually sitting down with my NCERT while studying NCERT line by line video on Chemical Coordination from yt. Finished 70% of it today.
I spent a good deal of time on first few Methods of preparations of Alkanes while looking for the right video from youtube to learn the chapter from.
I did a few questions from the living world but not enough to count correct and incorrect questions.
Non Academia
Decoding of one of the best songs Bollywood has produced - Kun Faya Kun. I'm immensely fascinated by sufism. And how music in India plays its role in bringing everyone together.
Another song decoded by the way same person, and his channel is a blessing by the way, Laal Ishq. One of the most beautiful songs out there.

I've often been scared of imperfection, but learning half of a topic/chapter veryyyy nicely helps you learn the other half which didn't make sense before. What I mean is, doing one thing at a time. | Tanishka is doomed. I just realized that I need to take tons and tons of lectures of Organic and Physics. | I heard that there's a possibility of my exam getting postponed. I'm gonna manifest that. Even though its tiring, but I want to prolong my struggle just the appropriate amount.
-Tanishka.

15 Questions 15 Mutuals
Tagged by @lost-and-cused 💛
Are you named after anyone? Yes, a musician my mother met in Russia!
When was the last time you cried? Huh. I think like, two months back? Trigun '98 episode 23. If you know you know. (I am wrapping u up in a blanket.)
Do you have kids?  Nope! I think I might like to be a foster parent someday, though, once I have the money and the time do it properly.
Do you use sarcasm a lot? I- huh. I was gonna say yes, but honestly, not much in the last few years? I used to be so snarky and biting, like, all the time. It must have been really exhausting for the people around me. Now I think mostly it's just when I'm venting. Wild!
What sports do you play/have played?  I dunno if it's a sport if I don't compete but I enjoy martial arts! I do BJJ sometimes but I'm not very good at it, it's just for fun. Oh, and I was on a basketball team for a couple years, but I'm 5'3" and still don't know the rules so I think I was mostly just just for the body count, lol
What's the first thing you notice about other people?  Demeanor. Are you calm or tense? Loose or tightly-wound? Are you likely to explode if you encounter a perceived obstacle? Are you agreeable and easygoing? Or are you pent-up and raw and itching for a fight?
God, I don't think people realize how visibly LOUD they are when they're unhappy.
Some people are like music, moving along to their own little beat or tune, and then a heavy, harsh note walks in and you just KNOW they'll fuck up the rhythm if you brush too close. It's wild. Are they aware of it? Do they care? Who knows.
What's your eye colour?  Brown! Sorta like.... hmmmm. #622a0f in the middle, with a darker ring around the outside. (Never did relate to the 'brown eyes are boring' gang, always liked mine too much. Then again, I was the only one in my family with brown eyes, so maybe it was that.)
Scary movies or happy endings? Scary movies WITH happy endings? But no, actually, I hate watching horror movies. I LIKE them, I think a lot of them are very good and it's an underrated genre, I just. Don't enjoy being scared. Or sad.
Any special talents?  I'm an artist- I enjoy watercolor, acrylic, and India ink as painting mediums, I'm rather good at realistic stippling, I'm decent at identifying animal bones, I enjoy sculpting and sewing and needle-felting, I'm finally at a point where I like to read my own writing, I enjoy interior design and have been told I'm good at it, I'm a pretty good cook, and I've been told I'm a decent singer! I can also fold incredibly tiny origami cranes, and pick up on new languages well enough for simple use.
And I be far more proud of any number of these things if I did them a little more often.
As it is, I sleep a lot.
Where were you born? British Columbia, Canada!
What are your hobbies? Lord, too many. I'm actually sewing a new battle jacket right now, and animating a short video. Also writing fan fiction. And reading! And I like to collect antique books and handmade ceramics and theater masks. And go antiquing. And I'm still learning to knit? Hhhhhhhhrrrrnnggfn I wish I could have a year off to just. Do things. I wanna take a pottery class! And do metalwork again!! I used to love making chain jewelry. Oh, I do beadwork sometimes! And paint! And I'm sloooooowly designing a guest room. Bfyvxuhfhgtjggjhgyu
Do you have any pets? Yes! Big baby bird cat. He lives out of the country now, though.
How tall are you? 160cm!
Favourite subject at school?  Art. And Metalwork. And Psychology. And Literary Analysis. (And lunch break.)
Dream job?  Okay so imagine this: There's a VERY rich eccentric hell-bent on accumulating strange art, and by some miracle they are both mentally stable and not a gigantic dickhead. They travel a lot and don't really enjoy socializing so I don't have to kiss their ass.
Twice a month I receive an automatic deposit into my bank account and in return, all they want is a reasonably steady continued production of literally whatever art. Portraits, statues, robotics, ceramics, conceptual shit, costumes, carvings, literally whatever.
And they'll cover educational expenses for it all so I can go back to college and learn screen printing and 3D animation and use the kiln and shit forever and ever, and take up apprenticeships at tattoo parlors and volunteer as a face painter and pick up photography, and just create as much beauty and love and confusion and joy as I possibly can forever and ever and ever until I die.
And I'll have enough money to own my own apartment that I'll paint in all my favourite colors, with murals and everything, and have a cat who I will of course spoil rotten, and maybe adopt a few weird and goofy kids who'll have sleepovers with their friends in the living room and play new bad music that I pretend to hate, and when they fuck up and do stupid shit like kids do, maybe I'll handle it better than my adults did.
And maybe if they like making stuff too, I can make stuff with them. And maybe I'll get to see them do it better than me. And maybe I'll get to see them do everything better than me. And maybe they'll be happier, too.
So, uh. I guess I'd like to be an artist. A sugar baby-artist? Sugar baby artist combo. I'd like to have a patron is what I mean. A sponsor. Yeah

India approves development of the 5ª generation 'AMCA' fighter
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 03/07/2024 - 20:03in Military
In a significant move, the Indian Cabinet Security Committee approved the fifth-generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) poaching project to be executed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).
With an estimated cost of approximately US$ 2 billion, the project will be carried out by the Aeronautical Development Agency of the Defense Research and Development Organization. The goal is to develop poaching and its associated technologies in collaboration with several public and private sector entities. The plan includes the construction of approximately five prototypes within a period of about five years.
According to sources, the project will involve the production of the prototype by industry players, including the public sector company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
AMCA ??
As CCS Chaired by PM Modi Clears India Stealth Fighter Jet Program. The total Program cost would be Rs 15,000 Cr & total 5 Prototype will be built in 5 Years with first Proto Roll out in 3 Year
All the Tech required for it already built & devloped.
Tumblr media
— Vivek Singh (@VivekSi85847001) March 7, 2024
The government has actively sought the development of national technologies in the defense sector.
The Ministry of Defense predicts that the fifth-generation aircraft project will create numerous employment opportunities and may result in substantial commercial contracts worth millions of dollars for Indian companies. This initiative is expected to generate large-scale employment opportunities.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian Air Force has significantly strengthened its support for Indian fighter aircraft projects. This is evidenced by the government's acquisition of more than 200 light combat aircraft and the approval of engines for the LCA Mark-2 project.
Tumblr media
The introduction of the AMCA into operational functions is expected to begin after 2030. The two initial squads are planned to be equipped with GE-414 engines, while discussions are underway for the co-development of more powerful engines for the subsequent squads.
India is expected to introduce more than 200 of these advanced fifth-generation fighters, which will also contribute to the country's ability to develop future generations of jet fighters in the domestic market.

Indian Rap Heroes DIVINE & Karan Aujla are Anime Action Stars in "HISAAB" Video
Tumblr media
DIVINE and Karan Aujla are heroes in the fast-growing Indian hip-hop scene. The groundbreaking duo puts their power into action in "HISAAB," a new anime-influenced video from their new collaborative album Street Dreams. "HISAAB" mixes traditional Indian instrumentation with a hip-hop pulse, as DIVINE and Karan Aujla trade bars–DIVINE rapping in Hindi, Karan Aujla rapping and singing in Punjabi–to examine the price of fame and the responsibilities incurred. Directed by Debjyoti Saha for Goppo Animation, the video for "HISAAB" is a visually-striking, action-packed, Anime-influenced short film. DIVINE and Karan attempt to escape from a surreal asylum, full of autonomous soldiers and giant cobra snakes, in an effort to save their freedom and sanity in the harsh world. The video surpassed 1 million views in just 12 hours and is currently in the Top 10 of YouTube's Trending Chart.
youtube
Last week, DIVINE and Karan Aujla shared Street Dreams, a 7-track effort that demonstrates why they are among the most exciting artists in the Indian scene. Out now via Mass Appeal India, Street Dreams had an extremely successful debut, reaching #1 on Apple Music within 24 hours of release, and taking over the number one spot on Apple Music's Album Charts in 40 countries, including India, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. All seven songs from Street Dreams charted on Spotify's Daily Top Songs in India, and are currently trending on Instagram.
is a relentless effort, bringing bilingual bars that express sentiments that need no translation. The album features production from Western heavy-hitters like Boi-1da, WondaGurl, Harry Fraud, Leven Kali, and Trox, who deliver premium productions for Karan and DIVINE to annihilate, along with hip-hop producers from the Indian scene. "Hisaab" finds the two artists counting their myriad accomplishments in 6/8 time, taunting any comer who can't match their quick maths, while "Top Class / Overseas" lays playful strings atop sliding 808s as DIVINE and Karan proclaim their valedictory status. "Yaad," meanwhile displays a softer side of the duo, as they trade off vocals with Indian-Canadian singer Jonita Gandhi.
Also among the highlights is "100 Million," the tape's lead single and music video, which made waves across the globe. Defined by nostalgic hip-hop production reminiscent of Y2K-era Dr. Dre, in this case produced by American producer Trox (50 Cent, Cordae), “100 Million” is an anthem for those with grand dreams, the two icons reflecting on the enduring habits that propelled them to greatness. The song arrived in mid-January, with a video filmed in Dubai and directed by Karan Aujla’s long-time collaborators Rupan Bal, Dilpreetvfx and Anmol Raina. The song and video immediately became a huge success–the song reached the #1 spot of the YouTube Trending Charts in India, and reached the Top 10 in countries including Canada (#2), New Zealand (#4), UK (#6), Australia (#8) and the UAE (#8). Overall, the song racked up over 21 million YouTube views to date, as well as over 6 million Spotify streams.
Karan Aujla and DIVINE have individually topped several charts across India with their albums and songs such as Karan's “Softly”, “White Brown Black”, “Mexico,” and “Players,” and DIVINE's “Mirchi”, “359 AM”, “Baazigar” (80 million YouTube views), and “Kaam 25” (65 million YouTube views). Their upcoming collaborative project is the first of its kind in the Indian music space and is poised to be a landmark moment in Indian music history.
With Street Dreams out now, the dynamic duo prepares to make their presence felt on American shores. Stay tuned for more videos and announcements from DIVINE and Karan Aujla in the near future.

The Emergence of a Diasporic Singular Desi Culture
I have been observing this for a while on several social media platforms and I have a theory that a singular “Desi” culture is taking shape in North America, and perhaps other diasporas. Since I haven’t had much experience with other diasporas in several years, I will only focus on this phenomenon through a North American lense.
The reason for saying is that I increasingly see young South Asians, in particular, Gen Z, make tiktoks mentioning how “our” culture is beautiful, and then proceed to show off cultural dress, cuisine, art, architecture etc. playing to a remixed Bollywood song.
The issue here is not showing appreciation, but the issue is using the singular from of culture instead of the plural — cultures.
South Asia is not a monolith, nor does it have one culture, so which culture in particular are we here appreciating? Every country, whether it would be Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, (Southern) Tibet (controversial, I know) , The Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and Diaspora countries like Suriname, Guyana, Belize, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, Mauritius, Fiji etc. all have self-contained individual cultures that are inter-connected or unique to their own region.
These tiktoks, from my observation, show only Northern Indian cultural aspects with a heavy emphasis on Punjabi culture. Popular Tiktok dances feature Hindi and Punjabi, yet rarely any music from other states. Then again, it is called fyp for a reason. It may be the content I interact with, but then again I interact with a broad spectrum of self-stylized Desi creators on “brown tiktok”. From North to South.
Every now and then, there is legitimate criticism on limiting Desi tiktok to Hindi-Urdu and Punjabi songs where a number of videos have been circulating to test one’s “Desiness” whether you know these songs or not. Same goes for movies. If not, then you are white-washed. What about the rest, who don’t speak Hindi-Urdu or Punjabi? This is why being “Desi” is quite controversial because it means different things to different people.
Why do I think that there is singular North American Desi culture emerging? It is because Bollywood consumption plays a central role in it in making the younger generation believe that there is a such thing as one culture being portrayed in Bollywood while reality is something very different.
I as a Punjabi am used to seeing my culture being hyper-represented in Indo-Pak media. In fact, it is the culture that is used in Bollywood and Lollywood productions the most when we talk about cultural reprentation. Same for music, apart from Hindi, Punjabi is the only regional language that gets that much attention and gone worldwide – for good and bad reasons.
Home culture is very different. We all have our own home culture that we grew up in. We have our languages, our own foods, our own clothes, own histories, yet when these younger Desis present themselves to the outside world, it all dissipates and changed into this Bollywood-esque performance.
We suddenly ALL eat naan, biryani, samosein, jalebi, gulab jamun, roti and we ALL speak Hindi, wear saris, lehengas, shalwar kameezein and are ALL Indian, desi, and brown.
Yet, here I am, not knowing anything about other regional dishes other than my own which ironically is all of the above and more as a Punjabi-Pakistani. I have no idea what Gujuratis eat, no idea what Sindhis eat, I had no idea what Marathi sounded. I had no idea Bihari songs were popular. I have no idea what Assamese wear.
It disregards everything unique and hyper-focuses on Bollywood and Punjab as the source for this repackaged Desi culture. Bengali home culture, Punjabi home culture, Pashtun home culture, Tamizh home culture, Devehi home culture, Indo-Guyanese home culture, Indo-Surinamese home culture are all different environments, yet you won’t see that when you land on #browntok, instead you will see this generic brand where everyone supposedly can participate in disregarding that it leaves people out and alienizes anyone that doesn’t relate to “Desi culture”
I find it so odd that Patels are quite well represented, yet know nothing about Gujurati culture or their language other than “kemcho”. The reason why I bring this up is because the culture would be seen as foreign to the Desi-sphere and not recognizable as Desi because people views this “Desi culture” though a very narrow lense.
In a way this Desi culture is just repackaged Punjabi culture made palatable for the masses that are fixated on romanticized images of their home countries disregarding class differences, history, and culture. People don’t realize that only certain classe wore such ornamental dresses like the lehenga choli and thatvit was limited to a certain class or money and still is, yet is touted as something accessible to anyone.
Big “Indian” weddings are not the norm, they are the exception, yet still are juxtapositioned with White Weddings as being something extravagent. It only works if you or family have money.
Bottomline: this Desi singular culture does not exist outside of social media realistically because we all have our own cultural aspects that are unique. Bollywood is not an accurate and reliable cultural representation. You are not cultured by watching Bollywood movies, you are a good consumer. People need to show off their regional cultures more.

Indy's Greatest Adventures
Tumblr media
I rewatched all of the Indiana Jones movies lately, coincidentally just in time for the trailer of the new one, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. After I replayed Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis last year and realized that Indy was way more of a tomb raider than I remembered him to be, I was a little nervous about revisiting these films. I needn't have worried too much - wonky portrayal of India aside, the movies still hold up well. There are colonial overtones if you bother to analyze things with a 2022 mindset, sure, but the truck chase scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark still has to be one of the best sequences I've ever seen on film. The same goes for the mine carts in Temple of Doom and the tank scene in Last Crusade. Even Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which I tolerate more than most, has a few moments of pulpy goodness, nuclear fridges aside.
Tumblr media
This brings me to Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures for the Super Nintendo, one of the few video games that decided to capture the magic of all of Dr. Jones' then-current films. I first saw a screenshot of it as a kid in Issue #9 of The Adventurer, a magazine that LucasArts put out to advertise their products, and I thought it looked neat as hell. A game full of levels inspired by all three Indy movies?! Genius! I never actually played it as a child, since I didn't have a SNES growing up, but the concept stuck with me. And so after I finished watching the films I decided to give Greatest Adventures a whirl, since it's easily accessible by emulation these days.
The game, published by LucasArts but developed by Factor 5 and JVC Musical Industries, runs on the same engine as JVC's three Super Star Wars titles. I haven't played those, but a quick look online shows that they're renowned for being hard as hell and featuring levels that take quite a few liberties from what was in the movies. (Remember how Luke had to go toe-to-toe against a Sarlacc pit monster in the beginning of A New Hope?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Greatest Adventures doesn't stray quite as far from the source material, though the last boss of the game is a goofy skeleton version of Donovan after he drinks from the wrong Holy Grail. For the most part, though, you've got traditional platforming stages inspired by most of the major moments in each film, like Indy exploring the Well of Souls, beating up Thuggees in the tunnels beneath Pankot Palace, and facing the traps leading up to the resting place of the Holy Grail. Every now and then you'll get a level that expands upon something not really seen in the films - for instance, a snow section that shows Indy in Nepal trying to reach Marion's bar. Then there are what I like to call "gimmick" levels that present you with a key moment from the movies, like Indy running from a giant boulder at the beginning of Raiders or avoiding gunshots in a nightclub in Temple of Doom, and these break up the standard platforming by forcing you to run forward to survive or duck behind cover. Finally, there are three levels that take advantage of the SNES' fancy Mode 7 chip, placing you in a 3D perspective. Temple of Doom gets two of these, mimicking the life raft plane jump in the Himalayas and the mine cart chase. Last Crusade gets the final one, presenting the moment when Indy and his dad escaped a zeppelin via biplane and had to shoot down some Nazis.
Tumblr media
It's all standard SNES platforming goodness, though the game is pretty darn hard. Indy controls well (though for some reason his whip is a far better weapon than his gun) but as the game ramps up you can expect to find a lot of inconveniently placed enemies (like birds, a la Ninja Gaiden) designed to trip up your jumps and bleed your health meter. The latter Last Crusade levels in particular start putting you up against Nazi mechanics and guys from the Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword who can throw wrenches and knives in a perfect arc that always seems to hit you, and it's a fine recipe for frustration. There's also one level where you've got to swing from your whip between the windows of Castle Brunwald, and man is it kind of impossible.
I also wish there was more of an equal distribution of levels between the three movies, since Raiders gets 12 stages while Temple of Doom and Last Crusade only get 8. Also, I would've liked to see Indy's sidekicks present. Greatest Adventures depicts the story of each film as kind of a streamlined alternate take where Indy's alone all the time, and while Marion and Professor Jones Sr. show up in cutscenes (and notably the Game Over screen), others like Short Round and Willie Scott are nowhere to be seen. Willie, I guess I can do without, but not including Short Round is a crime, especially when they could've easily designed a Mode 7 chase scene with him driving a car as Indy escapes Shanghai.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These quibbles aside, playing Greatest Adventures with save states neutralizes a lot of the frustration, and for an Indy fan, there's much to like here - from the lovingly-recreated John Williams score to the occasional stage that really rewards fans of the movies. For instance, Raiders' infamous swordsman in black shows up at the end of the game's Cairo levels, and instead of proving to be a major boss encounter, all you've got to do is shoot him once to move on, just like in the film. There's also a Last Crusade boss battle aboard a tank where you can't use any other weapons but your fists to punch Colonel Ernst Vogel into submission, and you've got to do it before the tank rolls off a cliff, too. Good attention to film detail there!
The era of licensed video game tie-ins for films is more or less over, so I doubt we'll see anything in the form of electronic entertainment when Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny comes out. (Bethesda does have the Indy license and is supposed to deliver an original game that might coincide with the movie's release, but they've been silent on that front for a year, so we'll see what happens.) With this in mind, I do recommend giving Greatest Adventures a run-through if you've got a high tolerance for old-school platforming or at least want to relive Indy's glory days before the new movie releases. Along with Fate of Atlantis, it's probably the only 2D Indy game worth replaying by today's standards.

We watched DreamWork's Puss in Boots (2011). IMDb link: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0448694/ Puss in Boots is a 2011 computer animated adventure comedy film produced by DreamWork's Animation and distributed by Paramount Pictures. It is a spin off of the Shrek film series rather than a version of the fairytale Puss in Boots. Puss in Boots is directed by Chris Miller with the screenplay by Tom Wheeler. The film follows the origin story of Puss in Boots on his adventures years before the adventures of Shrek 2 (2004). Puss in Boots voiced by Antio Banderas, is accompanied by his friends Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis) and Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek) to battle against Jack and Jill for the ownership of the magical beans and the fortune of the golden eggs. Puss in Boots is named after his signature pair of black boots. He is a fugitive on the run from the law seeking to clear his name. Humpty is Puss in Boots long lost childhood friend who tricked him into committing a bank robbery in his hometown of San Ricardo. Puss in Boots is reluctant to join him again but Kitty Softpaws persuades him. After many adventures, the double crossing Humpty meets his fate and Puss in Boots is hailed as a hero for saving San Ricardo, although the military still regard him as a fugitive. Puss in Boots and Kitty Softpaws share a dance and kiss at the end. For the full plot, see wiki link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puss_in_Boots_(2011_film) The idea for Puss in Boots was first mentioned in 2004, initially as a direct to video film. But by October 2006, the film had been changed to full release when DreamWorks realised its full potential. During the films production, the team struggled for a long time to include the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk. The results didn't work well and in the end the giant never makes an appearance. Puss in Boots is the first DreamWorks Animation film to be partly made in India. This not only reduce labour costs but also helped as at the time DreamWorks were making three films a year in the US. The film is incredibly action packed as demonstrated in the planting of the beanstalk beans. This includes swirling clouds, erupting ground and huge gusts of wind. Puss in Boots, Humpty and Kitty Softpaws are shown swirling up on the beanstalk as it raises into the sky. Here is an in-depth article about this complex sequence: https://www.fxguide.com/fxfeatured/puss-in-boots-head-in-the-clouds/ Another standout feature of the film is the excellent dynamic shadow animation work during the lengthy night scenes.
Also the cat dance fight scene where Puss in Boots challenges the Masked Kitty (Softpaws) to a dance fight. This scene is fast paced and is very funny!
Puss In Boots is shown in the 2.39:1 (Cinemascope) aspect ratio. The music for Puss in Boots is composed by Henry Jackman. He used folk instruments traditionally found in Latin music. Lady Gaga's song 'Americano' also features in the film. The score was released in October 2011. The premiere for Puss in Boots was held on October 16th 2011 aboard the cruise ship Allure of the Seas in Florida. Puss in Boots was a big box office success and the third highest grossing animated film of the year behind Kung Fu Panda 2 and Cars 2. Puss in Boots was critically well received with an approval rating of 86% and an average rating of 6.9/10. It grossed $70.4 million and was a great success. It included a short animated film called 'The Three Diablos'. Puss in Boots was released on Blu-Ray, DVD and Blu-Ray 3D on the 24th February 2012. Interestingly, Puss in Boots was never released on 4K Blu-Ray in the UK, however the US version is region free. The sequel to Puss in Boots was released in December 2022 and called 'The Last Wish'. I will definitely watch and review this film in future, watch this space! I first saw Puss in Boots when I bought it as a Triple Play Blu-Ray, DVD & Digital Copy in 2012. Puss in Boots is available to stream in the UK on Amazon Prime Video, YouTube and Netflix. I bought it on YouTube in High Definition. Although it is not a film I regularly watch, when I do I really enjoy the visual effects, voice acting and the storyline. Puss in Boots has a quirkiness about it that reminds me of Rango which was released in the same year.

Entry #1
As my tumblr title suggests, I am starting this as way to hopefully hold myself accountable. There are a bunch of hobbies, skills, and activities I want to improve at, topics I want to learn about, and things I've always wanted to try but have never gotten around to. Lately I've been having this existential panic that I'm running out of time to give them a go, so I feel like I need to be more methodical in pursuing them. I am getting on ADHD meds soon which I think will be helpful in this pursuit, but I feel like giving myself an outlet to write about these things may prove helpful in keeping myself accountable to them. Maybe I can aim to do one entry a week, each centered around one of these areas and how I have been implementing it in my life/working on it/learning about it, etc etc. I should probably develop a stricter system so I don't fall out of the habit like I am typically prone to doing... whatever, for now I will just list them out and I can aim to do one a week to focus on. Maybe I will sticky this post, if you can do that on tumblr, so that I see these activities often. Things I want to improve at -Cooking -Taking initiative in getting to know others, plan things, etc -Speaking clearly and intentionally -Frisbee -Confidence -Basketball -Consistent cleanliness -Charisma -Style, grooming -Getting up early and developing a routine -Write about content I consume - force myself to consider it beyond just consumption -Going for walks frequently, touching grass -Writing more in Notion? I guess just journaling more consistently in general regardless of medium -Music production -Piano -Chess -Card games -Film photography -Manners -Eating more frequently -Being good with kids -Trivia/knowledge for the sake of knowledge -Duolingo/Anki consistent practice
Things I want to learn about -Astrophysics -Geography -Starting a business -India -Weather/meteorology -Plants -The economy -Cinema -Community building -Poker, blackjack, card games generally -Rap music -EDM -Different political theory -Asia -AI -Religion -Bridge, mahjjong -Agriculture -Alcoholic processes, types of alcohol
Things I want to try -Learning to make drinks -Pulling espresso shots -Unicycling -Wheelying -Actually gardening -Networking with professionals whose careers interest me -Talking with strangers more -Rollerskating -Engineering (what are good hobbies for engineers?) -Data analysis -Programming -Making an app -Driving a manual -Changing my own oil -Magic tricks -Making videos (maybe of bike tours) -Writing -Get on Jeopardy -Skateboarding -Scootering -Fishing/fly fishing -starting a business
I've kind of arbitrarily told myself that learning about something/at least getting the gist of something would entail of doing three of theses four things over the course of a week: -Reading a book about it -Watching a documentary, or 1+hrs of video/discussion of it -Trying it out if applicable -Reaching out to someone I know who knows more about it
We'll see how closely I follow that guideline. I guess I will start this week? Maybe my first one can be.... Piano. I will start playing the interstellar song and also look into developing a practice routine. By the end of the week my goal can be to have developed a workable day-to-day practice routine that takes 30-45 min, and maybe I can play a page of the Interstellar song...
