♡ My revision tips ♡
Hi everyone! I've got my first A-level exams in the next couple weeks, so I've been focusing on revision and I wanted to share some of my revision tips! I used to find exams very stressful but I have some ways to make exam season a bit easier so I hope this can help •ᴗ•.
1. Create a good study environment
When you start a study session try to create a calm and focused environment. Try find a a quiet place where you will not be disturbed, if this is hard to find try using noise cancelling headphones. Make sure everything you need to study is within reach. I also like to light a candle to feel relaxed and I have a blanket to stay cosy! Creating a good environment can help you get in the mood to work and focus.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Plan your time effectively
Find a way to plan every topic you need to cover before your exam. Some people find revision timetables useful for this. I like to create a revision list based on my confidence levels with each topic and work my way through the list going from least confident to most confident. I will usually focus on one or two topics a day depending on how close I am to the exam. I will also write a few goals for the revision session in my Notion which helps me to stay on track.
Tumblr media
Another tip to plan time effectively is to plan the how long you would like to revise each day. Don't feel pressured to work for hours straight! I know it is easy to compare yourself to others but find a balance that works for you. The goal is to work smarter not harder and revising for long periods of time can be damaging. As an A-level student I try to revise in one hour sessions with 15 minute breaks and I try and do 4 hours of work. I have found this is enough time to get what I want done without feeling burnt out. Remember it's a personal choice and you need to take care of yourself.
3. Use cute stationery!
I personally love cute stationary! I find it really helps me to keep motivated and excited to revise. It doesn't need to be expensive, just find some stationery that motivates you. Some of my current favourites are the Stabilo swing cool pastel highlighters and my Sumikko Gurashi mechanical pencil.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Try to avoid just taking notes
While note taking is effective in class and when first learning the content, I have found it less useful when it comes to revision. Re-reading notes or textbooks can be helpful to jog your memory but it can be boring after a while. One of the best ways to revise is through active recall. Active Recall is all about retrieving information to make it easier for your brain to make connections between things. This can be done by using revision cards to test your knowledge, or on websites such as Seneca or Quizlet that help you to learn content, then test you on it.
5. Treat yourself
Revising is difficult at times and it can be tiring. Be sure to look after yourself and treat yourself with kindness. If you are having a tough day it's okay to leave revision for that day. It is better to rest than push yourself too far. I like to treat myself by having self care baths, taking time for my hobbies like gaming and reading and by spending time with friends and family.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hope these tips are helpful to someone and make revision a bit easier. Good luck to everyone taking exams, I believe in you! ♡
Love, Evelyn x

How to Study like Hermione Granger
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A guide to Harry Potter's very own Mione. Hermione granger being an academic inspiration<3 (& the brightest witch of her age)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 Study in a library. Hermione usually tends to make the library her study place, you can smell the books, have a lovely, peaceful environmental place to study in and always have the resources you need! Cozy up and study your heart out.
2 Create a study schedule. Hermione is known for her organized approach to studying. Create a schedule for different subjects when studying to maintain good time, and study well. And of course take tiny lil breaks in between, Hermione does that too. Some time for reading, study, and a little bit of free time with Harry and Ron or in the library (don't burnout)<3
3 Read. Read. Read. Be able to enjoy reading for pleasure time, learn some cool stuff in between and beforehand so you can impress your teachers! /hj. It helps with your creativity, focus, stress and exiting reality. Take notes, highlight important points, and ask questions while reading. Engage with your class and have more understanding.
4 Prioritize Important Tasks. Identify the most crucial tasks and do them. Hermione determines to know what needs to be done first and that way gets harder things out the way.
5 Study Regularly. Hermione practices spells regularly and reads a lot about the world of magic in the library, and particularly interested in it.
6 Seek Understanding, Not Just Memorization. Hermione tends understands things and facts rather than just memorizing them for the test. You need to be able to properly understand instead of memorization to help seek a better clear view for your knowledge.
7 (Optional!) Study with company. Hermione often accompanies with Harry and Ron to study sometimes. Even though it might not be a huge help, it does help her a lot; explaining things to other people help make you memorize study clearly and well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
౨ৎ ............................CLASSROOM BEHAVIOURS...................................
8 Stay Organized. Hermione keeps her belongings organized. You can use color coded books, folders or binders to help sort out each topic. Maintain an organized study space and keep track of deadlines. Keeping it efficient & stress-free.
9 Participate in class & seeking help. Participation is a must! It helps a lot with your social skills and academic validation, and can show your opinions and originality. Don't be afraid to ask your professors when in need of help or replies!
10 Stay healthy and well rested. Self-care for your physical self and mental self. Be happy and don't always look down on yourself, you'll never know what you'll be able to achieve, but just hope that you will. That's how you get there. Hermione doesn't care about what anyone has to say about her intelligent self, she'll never back down and you shouldn't either. <3 :)

How to study like Paris Geller
Paris is motivated and disciplined. She knows what she wants and she knows how to get it. She's not afraid of hard work and trusts that through ambition and effort she will achieve her goals.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Define your academic ambitions and work out what you need to do to achieve them. Paris knew exactly how to get into an Ivy league school and followed through her plans exactly. Whether your goal is big or small, breaking it down into steps will help you visualise and get even closer to your goal.
Create a study schedule. Paris was always organised and prepared. Having a study schedule will help you be the same! By working out how best to utilise your time and what areas need improvement you can ensure that you are using your time in a effective way.
Be organised. Paris colour codes her notes and keeps her space tidy. Invest in different notebooks, coloured gel pens and pencils and any other 'extra' study material/equipment which will help you stay on top of your work.
Take good notes! Try out new note-taking styles and ways of note-taking (digital, physical etc). Taking notes will help you be more aware of the subjects and material, as well as giving you a great revision resource.
Use healthy competition to better yourself. While Paris and Rory's competition was definitely unhealthy at points, a little competition can definitely help you. Whether you're competing with yourself or a classmate, it can help you push yourself to be better and try harder. Consider joining an academic group or study group if you struggle to find some form of competition within class.
Be collaborative. Paris isn't afraid to work in a group or with others (despite often getting frustrated when others put less effort in) and always tries her best. Learning with others can help you find new ideas or interpretations, new study methods and even make friends!
Practice self discipline and minimise distractions. Paris was always single-minded in her focus when it came to studying. While it can be difficult to be as disciplined as her, you can still practice discipline (it's definitely something that you can improve at) by getting rid of distractions, setting small achievable goals and building your way up, turning your phone off and dedicating time to study.
Try doing practice tests. Paris frequently tested herself, whether it be through past papers, mini quizzes or practice essays. Testing yourself will help to highlight the areas you need to work on and get you ready and prepared for the actual exam. Familiarising yourself with the nature of the actual exam as opposed to just the exam content will help you feel more confident and prepared for the actual exam.
Believe in yourself. Paris always had confidence in herself. Even if she didn't know something or couldn't do it quite yet she knew that she'd get there because she believed in her own intelligence and knew that through belief and hard work she would achieve everything she wanted. Replicating this attitude will help you to feel more confident in your studies and motivate you to work harder.
Learn from your mistakes! Paris wasn't perfect and sometimes she (like everyone else) got things wrong. Look at your work feedback, look for areas in which you can do better and start thinking about how you can improve. Talk to your teachers and look at exemplar essays. The important thing is that you can learn from the things you do wrong and improve.

how to be hermione granger at school 💘
one
READ. i cannot stress this enough it’s so obviously hermione and it helps u get smarter i promise. (i’ve read my whole life A LOT and i get amazing grades in english 9 times out of 10). it doesn’t even have to be different books all the time, i have reread the harry potter books at least 6 times each, every time you read it again you realise bits you’ve missed, and a lot of the time you can expand your vocabulary by a lot, meaning you will know what a lot of big pointless words mean, just like hermione !
two
DO YOUR HOMEWORK THE DAY YOU GET IT. hermione always hands in her homework early and she is very organised, you don’t really have to do it the day you get it anyway if you’re busy, you might be better making some sort of schedule where you have different nights a week where you do homework for different classes. trust me, this also helps you so much mentally because you’ll be so much less stressed if it’s all out the way or planned.
three
STUDY. try to study every night, for at least an hour. i know that hermione spends almost all of her time studying, but that’s not healthy so you shouldn’t do it, 1 - 2 hours a day plus whatever time you spend reading should be good, but if you feel you’re not improving like you want to, go for an extra 1 - 2 hours on SOME nights, do not do this every day as you’ll have no time to do anything else, and that’s unhealthy ! if this post does well i will make a study schedule based on when i would study <3
four
LISTEN AND TAKE NOTES IN CLASS. this is obvious but i feel like i should add it in. if you want to be like hermione you have to be smart, it’s just the truth, and maybe you don’t think you’re smart just now, but if you listen in class, take notes, and study them, i promise you it will make school so much easier and you’ll feel so much smarter. what i usually do, is in class i take quick notes in a jotter, ipad or notebook, and when i get home, i rewrite them so that i can make them neat, this is optional, but i cannot study messy notes. this is also helpful as it drills the information into your head more as you’re writing it twice.
five
ROMANTICISE SCHOOL. hermione enjoys school and studying, so if you want to be like her, you should too ! make a playlist of songs that you think hermione would like, do your hair like hermione, add little accessories that make you feel like you’d be in a harry potter film, buy pretty pens, get stationery that actually motivates you to do your work and studying and have fun with your friends ! just enjoy school banbecause it can be fun if you decide it is 💘

school tips
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
you need to rest as much time as the one you spend working, in the end everything is about balance
never leave any task to the last moment. start doing a task when it’s assigned and start studying the same day the teacher explains you a topic. this will avoid stress in the long term
don’t get involved in any drama, just focus on your studies and if something bad happens keep it private
organisation is key, so have a planner always with you and find your own organisation method
active recall methods are extremely useful if you want to memorise something easily and keep it in your long term memory. my favourites are explaining a topic in your own words and testing yourself
for being productive you don’t need to do six hours-long study sessions, it’s much better to work little by little
reading can help you to improve your reading comprehension, creativity, writing skills and concentration, so always have a book with you
keep your space cleaned and organised, it will help you to focus
have a sleep schedule, rest is key for being able to do your homework correctly
try to romanticise everything a little bit: have cute stationery and a pretty work space, study at a library or a cafe, wear your favourite outfits and accessories, etc. it will make everything much more fun
good grades don’t make you a good student, but perseverance does
make sure you have a hobby so you can relax yet continue learning and developing skills
be curious about everything, that will help you make your least favourite classes more pleasant
don’t stress yourself out because of an exam. it’s important to have good grades, but one bad grade won’t have a big impact on your future

Study Tip #1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
How to remember stuff for a long period of time?
Firstly, you should know that our brain is very adept at forgetting things it doesn't consider necessary for its survival and it fails to understand that excelling our exams are veryyyy important for our survival.
So, what you need is revision of your subject matter over and over again, over a period of time.
How to achieve that though?
Flashcards are often used for achieving this technique but to be honest, for a very vast syllabus Flashcards get quite overwhelming. So I created REVISION SHEETS for myself. It's the same thing as flashcards but it encompasses a few other techniques that makes the vastness of the topics a little easy to control and comprehend.
I make them two ways: one is completely random, with information important to remember but from various different topics. And another is by making mindmaps.
And in both of these things, I add information in QnA format. Easy.
Step by Step guide to revision sheets:
Firstly, I'd advise you to read/understand a chapter/topic through a lecture, a youtube video or a textbook. Atleast have a basic understanding of the concepts.
Check the major headings or the major sub-topics.
Start plotting the mindmap roughly, by Sub-topics and how and where you'll put them for better understanding.
Now, when you're writing content, put it all in QnA format, especially HOW you want you remember the information.
There, done.
Just make sure to use that sheet to revision at good intervals of time.
You can, of course, make changes to this process. But this is what I've done for my revision work.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Also, I am not sure if someone else might not have already thought of this idea. Though, I don't think such study tips have any copyright but I'm just putting out there that if it resembles something that others have used/talk about online, then it's because we both thought of the same thing. And you'll too probably to solve your study problems. So all the best, let's all work hard and find our happiness.]

Girlblogging today. Girl coffee + girl sweater + girl room + girl music + girl journalling + girl tumblr in my girl room. Long day. Pen clicks off. Pages crinkle. Read some books, enjoy some tea and the end. Day is done. Reading is fun if you enjoy it. Maybe watch some Harry potter? Gossip girl. Love the energy. Would love some hype. Girl baking. Would love some cookies rn. Rory thinks I would deserve it. Or maybe I can just do my girl mask and jump into pjs. Night <3 Maybe. A 5 minute read. Crawl out the bedroom window towards the balcony. Watch some vogue perhaps. The candle beside ignites. Grab some girl pizza. We're done.
