I often do think it is important to call myself a woman. In past I've had kids ask me "are you a man or a girl" and in hindsight I think these kids were quite perceptive of the world. Especially when you're in your 20s it's men and girls, I've seen students write pieces describing themselves as men, but their female peers of the same age they call girls, but I have also heard bisexual women say they like both men and girls. In past I've fallen into that myself and said that yeah I'm a lesbian I like girls, but do I? No I am in my twenties and I am actually only attracted to my fellow adults - women. It does feel more serious, less trivial, both to be and be attracted to women as opposed to girls, and that can be a bit uncomfortable to be faced with. It is also important to me as a butch. I am no longer a tomboy I am a butch I am no longer a girl I am a woman. I am a woman and women can be like me. I don't feel like I've succeeded enough at adulting to call myself a woman, but that doesn't matter. I am 25, and if the word bears other connotations so be it, that's not my problem.

#to be fair i have also heard men on their 20s say man feels too serious of a word to them #but idk like so much of our society infantilize women i wont do the same #but also like in group of friends i do hear both men and women call each other boys/girls like girl's trip/boy's trip evening with the boys #lunch with the girls etc like ofc theres many situations where those words are used past adulthood in a way that makes sense but still #musings #butch

I've seen a lot of takes on sag joining the strike go by. Some focus on the fact that most actors are in fact not big names being paid big bucks so don't let the studios fool you. And yes very good, don't trust company propaganda.

Others talk about the less frequently mentioned (and more challenging) take that every actor, and writer too, deserves to be paid fairly for their work. Yes even if they are the big names who have already been paid bigger bucks. Excellent, love to see workers' solidarity and people learning the difference between well paid and hoarding money indiscriminately.

But the one I so far haven't seen mentioned, is the fact that you in fact want the big names with the big bucks there. You need them to join in. They add the weight, the leverage and are harder obstacles to ignore.

Let me put it this way.

Sag and wga members are the army besieging the castle and the big names are the trebuchets ready to fuck shit up.

funniest thing about Gen v to me is how they’ve set it after season 3 of the boys but they’re also kinda pretending that stuff doesn’t exist except for an occasional background joke. Because you got Marie and the other kids being like “we wanna be in the seven!!! It sounds great!” When… according to the way the boys s3 ended, here’s what these kids and the rest of the general public would know about the seven:

Three members have died while actively serving within the past 3 years (translucent, supersonic, Queen maeve), and another 2 have died after retirement/removal (Stormfront & Lamplighter, assuming his death was recorded and explained away probably as natural causes or something). The last two of those deaths were within like a month of each other.

Another member has quit (Annie) and is openly speaking out about corruption and violence within the group and Vought at large, she has officially laid out accusations of 1) Deep raping her on her first day, 2) Homelander lying about the (lack of) danger presented by soldier boy, 3) Homelander taking Maeve captive shortly before her death. These accusations (at minimum, she has possibly said even more not documented on the show) while perhaps not proven, received extensive media coverage.

As for the suspicious amounts of deaths, Translucent died on a mission, ok seems normal, Supersonic died of an overdose, okay sure that can happen to some people but not to everyone, and Maeve died while valiantly fighting the last generation’s American hero who was actually super evil and radicalized by Russia but Homelander told us all not to worry about him at all?? Hmm this pattern is maybe a little weird now especially considering the group had zero deaths for its first decade-plus of existence

Like a year ago they let a literal nazi into the group and then kinda just said “oopsies” and made a movie about it starring Charlize Theron as the Nazi

One of the remaining active members was accused of sexually assaulting another member of the group and then was in a cult for a little while and now claims he’s changed

Also Homelander recently murdered a guy in broad daylight with hundreds of witnesses so that’s horrifying on its own and maybe adds some weight to Annie January’s accusations

You’re telling me Marie wants to join THAT GROUP? right NOW??

#I’m really questioning her judgment bc…#that’s not a good place to be girl!!!#and it made sense when the s1 arc of the boys was Annie thinking the seven are good #and then learning they’re not #but within the universe there have been MANY MAJOR LEAKS of how bad things are now #even if you assume voughts running a full smear campaign on Annie #it’d take a fair amount of mental gymnastics for a young black woman to wanna be anywhere near that group I should think…#I almost feel like this should’ve been set between seasons 2-3 #gen v #this is a shitpost btw not actually shitting on the show #not a CRITICISM but musing on the consequences of making a spinoff #and connect its timeline so decisively to the main show

Rosie’s Riveters was the only aircraft to return from the mission to Münster on October 10, 1943 and it was no easy task getting home.

Blakely’s crew in 42-3393 Just-a-Snappin’ had to go through something similar on their return from the mission to Bremen as they had to drop out of formation and make the trek home by themselves. I think Blakely and the rest of his crew deserve a little bit of recognition too;

Bremen had the worst flak they’d ever seen. "There was so much solid flak, you could almost slice it like cake” said pilot Ev Blakely

Flak destroys the number four engine, left elevator, and stabilizer as well as cracks the nose sending shrapnel into the Bombardier and Navigator

They catch on fire, but their electrics are gone so they can’t use the fire extinguisher. The only way to put it out is to drop out of formation and head straight into a steep dive in hopes it blows it out, which Ev Blakely is miraculously able to do

Have to limp back well over 200 miles to get to base with a max speed of 120 mph (at 100 mph the aircraft would stall and drop out of the sky) and immediately watch the only other Fort near them explode in a ball of flames thanks to enemy fighters

Smashed shortwave radio forced Forky, the radio operator, to send out an SOS by touching two wires together and praying

They were a sitting duck for the enemy fighters as they limped back to base at a mere 120 mph (at 100 mph the aircraft would stall and drop out of the sky)

Compass was stuck so Crosby had to navigate using the position of the sun with near-constant course corrections

They are credited with taking out at least 11 enemy fighters on their way home but not without their own injuries. Three of their crew are seriously wounded, one has a three-inch hole in their stomach, half of one’s face was scalped, and the other had the entire lower half of their body crushed and bleeding

You know engine number four? Yeah, it’s on fire again so time for another dive and it’s a miracle it went out again

But now they’ve got to salvo literally everything out into the channel from the spent cartridges laying on the floor to their woolen flying clothes, including their boots

Their dinghies were shot to pieces by the German fighters (and Crosby accidentally pulled the emergency handle on the hatch in the nose) so landing in the water ain’t an option

Everyone who’s not flying goes to help the wounded, packing their wounds with their open parachutes and warming up the frozen morphine applicators (?) in their mouths

Now they’re coming in for a crash landing at a dummy UK base with literally zero control surfaces so Blakely and Kidd were piloting using pure strength. The rest of the crew go back to the waist and hold onto the injured men, like hold them to their chests, so that they aren’t further injured in the landing

Their brakes go out as they land and they’re sent careening into the only tree in the entire airfield, crushing the nose of the aircraft and sending tree branches and leaves through all of the windows and compartments (click for pics)

They just kind of sat there? Until someone came and was like “hey you need help?”

They want nothing more than something to eat but instead are stuck watching some officer count 1200 holes (no, not 800) before giving up because there’s too many

So now they had a hour long drive back to base, those who didn’t get sent to the hospital that is, only for the mess halls to be closed, all their stuff locked up in storage, and everyone looking at them like they were ghosts. But on the bright side, every man in the o-club tried to hand their drinks to them

In the end, 7 of her crew were injured and one fatally so. Most of the men would never fly another mission.

Picture this.

Jason learns that there’s a new Robin.

He doesn’t particularly care what hapless child got bragged into being a child solider, but he isn’t about to let him Joker happen again.

So he concocts a plan. He’ll ambush the replacement in Titan’s Tower when he’s alone and send a message about what happens to birds when you try and make them fly before they’re ready. They fall, and fall hard. He spends hours perfecting every single step and making contingencies until Talia gives him her approval.

Red Hood is born, and quickly rises through the ranks of Gotham’s drug lords. Crime Alley becomes… not exactly safer, per se, but more habitable. Cleaner. Then, one fateful night, Red Hood strikes. The Titans are gone, and Robin is alone in the Tower. Jason’s old access codes still work, something that makes his heart ache and twist for his family he uses to his advantage.

But when he turns off the lights with every intention of scaring the ever loving sh*t out of Robin, the voice that shouts, “Who are you? Show yourself!” is familiar.

Too familiar.

A black screen awaited any viewer who dared to tune in. Judgement here was long gone, it being passed onto the unrighteous. A sizzling, static noise struck the shadow-filled display, absent of any empathetic touch.

...!

"OW!"

A shriek of pain interrupted the solitude.

To follow the yelp, a long, quiet rustle was audible on the other end. Though whatever waited on the other end wasn't visible, the panicked, hurried sounds spoke for them all the same. Rustling and rummaging hissed through the blackened screen. The mental picture could easily be put into your mind.

...After a minute or two of agonizing and awkward waiting, the camera finally took focus, colors flooding the screen. What stood in plain view was a short gentleman with tanned, bronzed skin and short, black curly hair. They smiled sheepishly, smoothing back their hair and brushing off their suit. "...It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." They nodded politely, putting a gloved hand on their heart. "We don't know each other yet, but... I hope we will come to. I'm Mila Law Young, a detective at the Royal Court Agency."

"For a back of a better word, I have gotten wind that thing's have been... risque, around these parts, wouldn't you say? An assortment of crime running in these dark, shaded backstreets, hiding under our noses... And I simply cannot live with the idea that innocent civilians are getting mixed in the middle of it."

"So... that's why I'm here!" Mila beamed, grinning from ear to ear. "To protect and serve! To get to the bottom of these terrible sins that are haunting our youth! Whatever you need, please don't hesitate to contact me. Please remember that I'm a resource, an ear to listen, and, hopefully, a friend."

The sleuth bowed, looking up with a wink. "...I'm at your service."
