Why we built MockQue
Tumblr media
"A lot of us are very good at our jobs but absolutely hopeless at job interviews".
Interviews are a critical step. In around 45 mins, you are supposed to convince and impress a total stranger that you’re “ fit ” for the role.
.
It’s also your chance to make a good impression. In a hyper-competitive market for talent, the interview may be a make or break experience.
.
There are many brilliant software engineers who got rejected for positions cut out for them. And also there are the opposite - engineers, mediocre at best, land dream jobs.
.
The former group, despite their technical brilliance, lacked what the latter had - “ interview skills “.
One important key to cracking an interview is self confidence. An important key to self confidence is “ preparation “.
One reason may be that interviews are no jolly ride. Sometimes, just the thought of an upcoming interview can be nerve wracking.
.
In fact, the fear of interviews can be so paralysing that people stick to the same unsatisfactory job, simply because they couldn’t handle the pressure of sitting through interviews.
.
It is MockQue [ mockque.com ] where you can find a safe environment to practise, challenge yourself and grow.
.
That’s why we created MockQue, an online mock interview platform to practise interviews with real world interviewers any time they need.
Tumblr media
MockQue helps you to practise face to face online technical interviews creating a healthy environment to learn and grow.
Tumblr media
You can choose interviewers from top product based companies with interview duration of your preference.
MockQue provides users with detailed interviewer feedback and this will help you game up your career.
Interestingly, our users tell us that they learn from interviewing others as much as they do from being interviewed.
Tumblr media
We created MockQue keeping these goals in mind -
Make you confident enough to treat interviews like a conversation, not an interrogation.
Make you be prepared to use your abilities at the right time.
Provide real world interviewing experience.
Capable of managing your anxiety seriously, but not personally.
Tumblr media
Looking back, nothing makes us happier than knowing that within a short period of time, we have helped a great number of developers land their dream jobs. We are fortunate to grow MockQue fast and for the difference it makes in the lives of aspirants.
.
Visit mockque.com to game up your career.

I’ve been OBSESSED with the idea of trent having a football podcast post canon so here’s what I came up with:
trent’s a guest at a friend’s podcast to promote his book and he has fun and gets him thinking about the future
he writes pieces for some online websites and writes his own stuff for the podcast. It's something he really enjoys and allows him to have more time with his daughter
Ted never leaves for Kansas obvs (I mean, he does for the summer as he always did, but then comes back with Henry and Michelle -who broke up with the doctor guy)
Tedependent have started secretly seeing each other and don’t feel ready to go public yet. While dealing with the press for his book, Trent is working on the idea of the podcast and whenever he has some free time he writes down ideas on topics and starts writing the script for the first episode.
Ted offers to be his first guest but Trent declines and says he wants to do this on his own and that maybe in the future he will have Ted on.
the podcast is a big hit and they start doing merch (Keeley’s idea), live recorded events (interviews mostly) and what not
trent is mostly interested in telling stories rather than analysing tactics (although he does sometime do a deep dive in more technical topics)
I also came up with a mock fake website because I was bored (putting it under the cut cause it’s long)

Love on Thin Ice
Hi everyone! Okay, so this is totally different from what I normally write. No, this isn't a fic about Chris or any of his characters. This is a hockey fic!
This is something that I've been working on for a while, and I decided to share what I have so far! I really do hope y'all like it!
Tumblr media
Jeremy Swayman entered the hallway with his teammates. It was another successful win against the Maple Leafs. He smiled, hearing his teammates yell and scream with victory. But as he entered, something didn't feel right. Something felt off. He saw their coach before he could even sit and motioned for him to step outside.
The boys playfully mocked him and gave him “oooooooos” as he walked by. Laughing, Jeremy flipped them off and stepped out. As he did, Jim stood to the side and sighed, “Coach, if this about the penalty-”
Again, Jim sighed and rubbed his face. “Sway, that's not the reason. I don't know how to tell you this, but your mother called.”
Jeremy looked at his coach and lifted his eyebrow, “Okay, but she would call me. Why would she call the team, especially you?”
Jeremy was feeling suspicious.
“Jeremy, your cousin Aria. There's been a terrible accident. It closed 95N. A 6-car pile-up. Your mom didn't give the specifics, but it's serious, and you need to come down to MassGen.” Jim said, and Jeremy stood frozen still.
Jim patted his back and left him to collect his thoughts. Snapping out of his thoughts, Jeremy returned to the locker room to get his things.
“Has anyone seen Marchand? He needs to do his press interview!” Jim yelled.
“He changed quickly, grabbed his stuff, and bounced. I asked if there was anything wrong. He didn't respond.” McAvoy said.
It took Jeremy only a few seconds to realize where Brad had gone. Cursing to himself, he quickly changed, grabbed his things, and ran out of the Garden leaving everyone in the locker room even more confused.
**
When Jeremy arrived at MassGen, he ran towards the entrance to see his mom in the waiting room.
“Ma!” Jeremy said as he ran towards her.
Julie stood up and hugged her son, “Jeremy, I couldn't stop-”
“I know. I figured he overheard me when you called Jim. Is he inside the ICU?” Jeremy asked.
His mother nodded and Jeremy headed to the front desk. He was given a visitor's pass, and the nurse led him to a private waiting room. The door opened just as his suspicions were right.
The nurse closed the door, and Jeremy took a seat. The two boys sat across from each other. Brad had his elbows on his thighs and looked down to the ground. Jeremy had his arms crossed against his chest and leaned his head back.
“I don't even want to know how you know,” Jeremy said.
“I didn't mean to. I just passed by and heard the conversation with you and the coach. I wasn't thinking-”
“Did you pull the I'm the-”
“We are technically still married,” Brad said, leaning back into his chair. The gold band still glowed in the light, and Jeremy sighed.
“You still said a lot of hurtful things to her.” Jeremy reminded Brad.
Brad suddenly sat up with his hands forming into fits. Jeremy rolled his eyes and calmly stood up.

THOUGHTS WHILE WATCHING GILMORE GIRLS: SEASON 3, EPISODE 3-“Application Anxiety" (Part 2)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
bint. / (bɪnt) / noun. offensive, slang a derogatory term for girl, woman.
According to Mr. College Admissions Dork, the following fatal errors will guarantee your REJECTION! From Harvard. Bad handwriting (how quaint) Your chosen after school activities are considered boring to Mr.Dork. You don't have enough after school activities. Not enough means you're not trying hard enough. You take too many after school activities. Too many means you're trying too hard. As per Mr. Dork, nobody is interested in everything, and if you like too many things you will be !REJECTED! You submitted your application too early. You are a hopeless idiot if you believed the myth of "Early Admission". Ha ha! Dumb idiot kids! You're too intense. Hyper intense students will FAIL their admission interview! Mr. Dork along with his cohort, Mrs Dork, the delightful rays of sunshine they are, seem to find great joy in publicly dragging their own future students, mocking children who dare to dream of Ivy League admission and cover their walls in university paraphernalia, calling them "hungry and immature". These people are assholes. I think Season 1 Spitfire Rory would have pushed these admission dorks right off the stage. QUIPPY! Rory is wetting her pants and Paris is twitching. Let's flash back to early season 2, where Rory was contemplating some potential after school activities. *sparkly flashback music*
Tumblr media
The extra cirricular/summer school options visible behind Rory were: Junior life saving, rock climbing, botany, contemporary art, hiking, loom weaving, local geology, role playing (????), field hockey, and Shakespeare. Harvard will be jumping to accept the applicant with a strong Role Playing/Loom Weaving background. I guess the Asshole is technically not wrong that the school newspaper seems passe* with those options available.
Tumblr media
The Dot-Com Bust. How quaint. I'm old enough to remember hearing about it at the time (I was still a teenager) but thanks to GG I decided to do a little research on the topic and learned more about it. Thanks Emily!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The notion that college=guaranteed success? How quaint. And Rory majoring in journalism is the cherry on top of the Quaint Jello. It's okay, she couldn't know. The brutal and hilarious truth is that Jess (who didn't finish high school but is already a published author and running his own business by 21) and Dean (who ended up working in construction, which tends to pay very well) were more succesful than Rory with her Yale education in the end. In fact, Rory had the nerve to needle Dean in S4 about his construction job when she has an Ivy League education but won't even take a job waiting tables. Hell, it's even implied that Luke is sitting on a lot of money and he didn't go to college (although maybe not the best example, as that might have been an inheritance, I can't remember if it was ever discussed in detail). Hell, pretty much everyone in Stars Hollow didn't go to college and they seem very happy with their little working class lives. And if Jess didn't dismember Shane and dump her body in the lake she'd have made a good living as a hairstylist or makeup artist. In a later episode this season, Lorelai turns up her nose at the thought of Rory not going to the most elite college and implies that beauty school and community college are beneath Rory. But lemme save that special rant for when that episode comes along. However, in a few moments, Lorelai does tell Rory, "You HAVE to go to college." I get it, okay. I get what she's doing. She wants Rory to reach for the stars and do better in life than she did, get a good education etc etc. But this notion that attendance at an elite college as the only possible means to achieve success and anything less is just short of failure feels short sighted. Emily continues: the competition is fierce for admission, every student takes honors classes and works on the student council, a high GPA is not enough anymore, Rory needs to do something to stand out, extra cirriculars, etc, etc, we know, we know. Emily: Now even celebrities are going to college. I was watching that insipid Kate Hudson and even she talked about going to college. She's going to get in over Rory! Kate Hudson must have been a big deal in the early 2000s (I vaguely remember it) because they reference her a lot. Almost Famous came out in 2000 and How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days came out in 2003 and she made 11 movies total between 2000-2004. So that tracks. Back on her home planet, AmyShermanPalladino must have picked up an Earth People magazine and read about how Kate Hudson was popular with Earthlings. Really funny that Emily is more aware of current pop culture than any character under 35. Lorelai's still over here spouting references to Yo Yo and Dingus from 1973 or whatever. Lorelai: Don't worry about it Mom, Rory's special, she'll get in to Harvard. Emily: Of course Rory's special. She knows that, I know that, you know that, we all know that. Years of that "Rory's a special snowflake who can do no wrong" talk is definitely not going to have adult Rory up to her eyeballs in therapy bills. Rory shows up at Emily's and Lorelai, Rory, and Paris (on the phone) proceed to have a three way simultaneous Nuclear Panic Attack over the Harvard applications. The next morning at the Gilmore abode, Lane is visting and fielding phone calls about her rock band personal ad. Still no Rygalski.

A SMALL CHILD IN STARS HOLLOW! HOW DID IT BREACH CONTAINMENT!
Tumblr media
This dapper gentleman addresses Luke as "Sir" , orders an "Egg cream" and offers to pay for his meal (so he's definitely an outsider). Another child and then a manchild (Kirk) followup with requests for other malt-shop items that nobody has ever ordered outside of a 1950's Archie comic. ,... Waaaaait a minuuuute. I know what's happening. These children are Taylor's operatives sent to scope out Luke's Diner. The "Taylor Opens an Ice Cream Parlor Next Door" plot will soon have liftoff.
Tumblr media
Between telling a small child to go to hell and insulting Dean to his face for no other reason than he felt like it, I could not love Luke more in this episode.
Things googled while watching gilmore girls: *Passe (I definitely think I used this word incorrectly). Bint Common extra cirricular activities Dot com bubble burst Kate Hudson IMDB How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days Almost Famous

Good morning! Pt. 2
I forgot to mention that it started to pour down rain (hence Rainy Day Fight) whenever JK was out there lost in the streets and I’m sure that added to his stress because he didn’t know how to get back to the dorm. Thundering, lightning, who knows... wind maybe... some outside force got upset at JK in that moment. The Universe seemed to step in and pour a bucket of water on a young JK's head to get his attention... it worked.
Continuing...
So he's scrolling through a million cooking videos and then all of a sudden "Lee Mujin Service April Fools Day Special" comes up?
Tumblr media
I can't be the only one who is giving that the big ol' side eye... amongst all the food/cooking videos THAT one shows up? Riiiight...
He says he hasn't seen it... riiiiight.... whatever you say Kookie.
Curiously... the translation subtitle says he said "Jimin!" but that's not what he said. I don't know what he said but it wasn't Jimin.
Tumblr media
He fast forwards a little and then this:
Tumblr media
Hahahahaha! Yep, I bet you've heard enough about Face album to last you a while. That project tied up your Jiminie for most of the past year and had you sitting in your living room-cave drinking beer and eating gobs of fried chicken in front of Netflix all winter long singing to your giant tv and keeping the neighbors awake.
But that doesn't stop Kook from obviously loving Like Crazy...
[we're sorry we're experiencing technical difficulties with the video, please standby]
He couldn't think of Bosa Nova for the genre.
The mimicking was 💀 ... I died. I can see Jimin practicing some mock interviews with him. That seems very much like something Jimin would do. JK loves his Jimin. That's all there is to it.
Tumblr media
Then he sang along with Lee Mujin on "Butterfly" and "Traffic Light" where he unleashed some killer ad libs. He proceeded to play air drums.
When he was done with that he scrolled some more and commented there are only cooking shows... I swear ... how did the Lee Mujin show just appear amongst all the cooking shows Kookie?? hmmmmm????
He has watched it before, that's how, it was in his history.
I have to tell you... I will admit, my mind lives in the gutter... please get that stick out from between your legs and ESPECIALLY STOP rubbing the knob at the end of it!!!
Tumblr media
You can't tell me he doesn't know what we say on here about him. He lurks in the rabbit hole...I just know it.
Tumblr media
Finds this specific thing and then proceeds to sing along with himself... if the neighbors managed to keep sleeping through the drumming on the furniture jam session, they surely woke up when he started to belt out Airplane Pt. 2.
But he couldn't remember the lyrics to Save Me...
Tumblr media
When the Best of Me verse came up where he and Jimin do the switchy-switchy back and forth choreo he couldn't help himself... he had to couch dance... and it turned out to be a loop hahahahaha!
Tumblr media
Then he belted out Wasurenai by Tanaka. The neighbors probably have given up on sleeping in by now. It's a workday anyway. Get your ass out of bed.
Tumblr media
[the toes...] I'm not a foot person but I would give him a foot rub.
Tumblr media
That's because you are interrupting your body's involuntary intake and exhalation of oxygen. It is theorized that the brain triggers yawns to keep you alert. I know everyone needed to know that. Don't look at my brain, its scary in there. Moving on...
And then he swapped hats and launched into a 5 minute impression of G-Dragon... I don't know anything about G-Dragon except he was in BigBang with Taeyang. I did see him arriving at Incheon one time and he was wearing the shortest shorts I've ever seen a man wear in public these days. They were like booty shorts... He did not make eye contact with anyone, as if he wished he was somewhere else. Came across as a typical western rapper... full of attitude and not gratitude. That's my impression of who G-Dragon is. Anyway. This:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Paint me clueless because I have no idea what just happened.
Tumblr media
Ok, let me take a step away for a second and speak about something: Jungkook just parodied G-Dragon. He was mimicking Jimin earlier... ALL IN FUN. The theory is, when you mimic others, you subconsciously create a bond with those individuals. If you dislike someone, your subconscious will dampen any desire to do that. Psychology is fascinating isn't it?
I've seen some trying to weaponize these instances during this live. Jungkook mimics and copies because these are people he enjoys, not people he hates. There is not a malicious bone in JK's body. Just a lot of bones and cartilages that sound like bubble wrap being stepped on when he cracks them. Again moving on...
He stopped on Kurzgesagt, a Youtube channel that creates animated videos on a variety of topics that are informational and enlightening. Kookie loves the aesthetics of the channel.
He spends the next 10 minutes searching for something to watch while his brain tries to wind down and tell him its time to sleep. He subconsciously starts humming Like Crazy again and then finds a Jay Park song. I am thinking a collab is coming even though most of us could do without Jay Park. Obviously, Jungkook has a thing for him so I will remain open minded about any song should one be released. JK's vocals will elevate it to the stratosphere regardless.
I remember the pushback when we learned about Jimin's collab with Taeyang. And it turned out to be a great song and speaking for myself, I found Taeyang to be a decent and likable human. Why I ever doubted the kind of person Jimin would admire, I have no idea.
Displaying his prowess of composing songs on the spot:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The entire live was classic Jungkook. He will talk about almost anything and share a wide-ranging amount of TMI. Even now, he shows us how open he is about so much. He covered so many random things but mostly talked about his three favorite things: working out/body care, cooking and Jimin.
And Jimin and Jungkook...they are still the same as they've always been, always and forever since the rainy day fight up until now.
He finally decided to "rest a bit" before heading out and bid us farewell.
Tumblr media
Apobangpo Kookie! I hope we get to see you soon again!
More thoughts as I sit here thinking about Jungkook and Jimin through the years... it shouldn't be taken lightly how much influence Jimin has had on Jungkook. And to think of their dynamic over the years, watching the way they look at each other and speak to each other has evolved. It is rare to be able to observe such a thing happen between two people in real life. The way they both light up when they see the other's presence... lately we've seen it during these lives... they both beam with joy at each other... it's an amazing thing.
(FYI: My gifs and video prevented this post from showing up on the tumblr feed so there are screenshots for now.)

I just came on here to share something of note related to my job that I felt was somewhat relavent to fandom. I don't tend to like to reveal too much about my personal life on here especially as it relates to my job since I don't necessarily want anything irl connecting back to me on here so I'll keep this very, very general but I currently work for a nonprofit that centers around a very specific subfield within an acronym of the STEM umbrella. Most of what we do involves public outreach and education on that specific field through online articles, videos, magazines/journals, and events, etc. (as well as helping fund research, grants, and mentorships/job opportunities for people in the field, particularly of underrepresented groups).
Anyways I'm saying all this to say that today I saw we'd made arrangements to pay for media training for a few of our more higher up volunteers to help prep them for media interviews and to be good brand ambassadors for our org. The training includes things like reviewing talking points and going over sample interviews and interview tips and is expected to encompass at least a couple of hours per person. We dropped well over 10k on this expense. And this is all just for a few VOLUNTEERS for a relatively small nonprofit org in a very specific subfield/subject. Like I said we're a non-profit so we're obviously not just in this for the money or the good PR it may bring, even if we do still realize that those things are integral to our success as an org. And yet we still dedicated a sizable chunk of money and time to this endeavor for people who are not even technically employed by us. I just want y'all to let that sink in for a second and think about how much the scale of that extrapolates to ppl like celebrities doing what they do on the world stage.
Imagine how much more intense and in-depth something like media training gets when you/your image is literally the brand you're acting as ambassador for, and a shit ton of ppl behind the scenes all have their own stake in your success as a brand in the particular image/version of you (accurate or not) they want portrayed. now imagine you're a young impressionable child being made to sit through potential hours of mock interviews, being drilled with questions and "appropriate" talking points and the like until the ppl in charge of you are satisfied (tbh it's not hard to see how/why rebecca ferguson described it as akin to being brainwashed), and being foisted with all that responsibility/pressure in every single thing you do or say in front of a camera. Is it any wonder that you might eventually get to a point where you just paste on a smile and say/do whatever you're told to like a wind-up robot playing along with the role you've been given even to your own detriment (liam)? Or that you might get to a point where you just stop wanting to do almost any interviews at all cause you're sick of being party to all the fakery and bullshit (z@yn)? It's two sides of the same coin but both could very much be read as a trauma response
Anyway I just needed to rant a bit cause the stuff with work brought all this to the forefront of my mind and it forever infuriates me to no end that people still don't see (or don't want to see) how much of what we're shown and/or told is fabricated in the name of staying on brand for whatever version of their image a celebrity may be trying to sell in that moment

Hey so remember that band au
Do you have any brainrot scraps I could eat
i dont have anything like Publishable but yeah absolutely i got some scraps!! here is the tag for anyone seeing this and is like. What is she Talking about LNDFNFNLK
here is a quick social media edit for the chosen that i ended up not using in the overall edit
Tumblr media
i dont think i've revealed who explicitly is in what band yet so have a fun lil guessing game as i give you a sneak peak at ftc's tracklist ! (easy mode xoxo)
Tumblr media
and as a bonus some random headcanons under the cut bc why not:
courtney and spencer are long-time childhood friends, and they've been making music together since they were like. 7 and 11 respectively. spencer met shayne and damien in college and they've been in a band ever since!!
if you walk into any of the dressing rooms of every member of the chosen, they are listening to such different music to get ready it would actually make your heads spin. out of their botb fellow contestants, damien is most likely to listen to conventry (bc he's literally never been wrong), courtney is bumping kolivition, spencer is playing some classic smosh, and shayne is listening to ftc!!
i have in my brain what all of the songs are like. About ya know. so for example damien did the backing vocals for augustus and i have this idea in my brain that like. augustus IS this universe's manifestation of the character augustus. so like i think all of the chosen has a hand in writing the songs and damien co-wrote this one and it's just like. about a lonely lost kid who's awkward and doesn't fit in. like obviously it's a much less joking interpretation and more of a serious one but anyway it's still about him. is this making sense? i have No idea anymore!
courtney has also done some co-/backing vocals, and is the most likely to be featured on a track! she's featured on nuclear rain, and she also does a fun lil harmony for 'shoot dood.' shayne is the only one that has not sung and their fans keep begging but he REFUSES
'down bad' is their first like... love song? although it's technically just about how embarrassing being vulnerable and being in love are. smth smth the overwhelming ordeal of loving someone.
anyway it also opens with a snippet of a voicemail from kiana to spencer (probably from like years ago not about anything relevant) telling him to 'get up girl'. kiana is Not here for the fame, in fact she would rather no one knew who she was but unfortunately life be like this. after the ep drops the media goes fucking Nuts with rumors of whether or not they're dating.
they have fans who love the whole band but the amount of damien girls is of course insane. the other three mock him relentlessly for it. there is an entire instagram dedicated to updates about his hair.
lisa has put spencer on twitter timeout several times especially from the band's twitter bc he is Terrible for publicity. the order of worst to best for tweeting are: spencer, shayne, courtney, and damien
courtney takes selfies at EVERY live show they do; they have a collage of them as their phone background!!
as soon as courtney hears jackie is gonna be one of the judges for botb. hyperventilating. she loses her god damn mind. THE jacklyn uweh? famous recording artist? that's her shower sing-along playlist. lisa has explicitly banned them from any fangirling until the battle is Over
"up & coming" is like a netflix reality show about small bands really trying to make it, and they were featured after kiana got in contact with the showrunner. it basically followed them as they made their third ep and interviewed them and people they know. it's very much a 'before they were famous moment.'
damien bet shayne $20 that he wouldn't stare into the camera in every single shot. shayne committed to the bit. no one said anything and they kept every single shot in and NO ONE knows why.

— OC INTERVIEW
Tumblr media
ANTONIA "NOMAD" PERRYMAN
the ghost recon brainrot is consuming my brain, so naturally have to fill this out for her
NICKNAME: nomad (callsign), toni by close friends/team kingslayer (re: holt, weaver, and midas)
GENDER: unlabeled transmasc; she/him pronouns
ORIENTATION: alloromantic questioning (only experiences attraction to men)
NATIONALITY/ETHNICITY: white american, born in boston (and yes, the accent does come out when she's riled up. yes midas and holt have playfully mocked her for it-)
HEIGHT: 5'9 / 175cm
STAR SIGN: gemini sun, sagittarius moon, leo rising (and suddenly her brazen stubbornness makes so much sense skdjdkdkdk)
FAVE FRUIT: grapes. particularly sweet jubilees
FAVE SEASON: late summer / early autumn
FAVE FLOWER: morning glories
FAVE SCENT: not sure of a specific scent, but categorically... she really likes vibrant, citrus-y scents.
COFFEE, TEA, HOT CHOCOLATE: Coffee, 100%. she likes that shit dark and bitter. hell, she's definitely just straight up snacked on the beans before, if she didn't have the means to brew 'em on the field.
AVERAGE HOURS OF SLEEP: anywhere from 2 to 8. tends to fall on the average range, but there have been plenty of times she's gone running on low fumes. it's especially apparent in breakpoint, where she's working entirely alone and in open territory (since walker uh. dispatched. team kingslayer. and wants her dead, too. skjdkdkdkdkd 🥲)
DOG PERSON OR CAT PERSON: definitely a dog person, but not in the "i hate cats they're so mean wah wah wah" way. she just prefers dogs because it's easier to take them places and such. if she weren't being pulled all over the place, i could see her having a malinois, honestly.
DREAM TRIP: route 66 round trip. starting in chicago and ending out in california, then heading back the same way. really taking time with the trip, too, and stopping at each major location (plus some of the smaller ones).
NUMBER OF BLANKETS THEY SLEEP WITH: ideally two; one comforter and one throw blanket. more often than not, though, it's whatever thin blanket she has on hand (or can get her hands on). and if she doesn't have them, she's tucked in a nice padded sleeping bag.
RANDOM FACT: despite being a military brat, she was not, in fact, a j-rotc kid. at least by technicality. her family had a bunch of connects as is, so they didn't feel the need to make her go through their program on top of her academics (plus, what more could they possibly have taught her that her mom and dad couldn't have?). that said, she's done her fair share of volunteering and misc. favors for the instructors on her high school campus. they were all buddy buddy.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
got tagged by the incredible ✨️ @pinkyjulien to fill this meme out! tyvm again for the tag (and the comic recommendation 👀 i bookmarked it and will be checking it out asap)
i'll tag @perpetuagf , @vendettavalor (figured this one could be good for your rp blog), @alexxmason , aaand anybody else who feels like hopping on board!
i've seen so many of these on my dash it's hard to remember who has/hasn't done it ^^;

MOCK INTERVIEW DONE.
Tumblr media
I was having a heart attack when it first started but I calmed down a lot at the end !!!!
I did well with technical questions, just got 2 I need to review, I did good !
My biggest feedback was that I was leaving everything too vague and general which forced the interviewers to ask a lot more questions than they wanted. I agree honestly,,,why did I think my answers were acceptable in length 🧍🏻
Both for technical and soft skill questions, I just didn’t provide enough details because I was afraid to bore and overwhelm them. But this fucked me over hahhhh🏌️
Gotta learn when to elaborate and when to stop, seems a bit hard. I’ll work on it.
I was told I did well and that I had a nice attitude, and I should focus on being more specific with answers. I was expecting to get really discouraged so being technically decent and the nice useful feedback was uplifting.
I’ll start applying for real in a couple of days so this was real useful. Got the experience without any consequences

Actually, outside of lili fans, many people found Cole to be very self aware and mature in the interview. It’s just the Cole haters who have turned it into a negative thing. If you actually take the time to listen to the whole interview you would realize he said nothing negative about lili and was actually harder on himself. I’m not expecting you to actually do so though… Anyway I gained more respect for him and am even prouder to be a Cole fan
Anon, as someone speaking to a Cole fan, I am going to answer this as he would.
In truth, realistically, though the shackles of fame create a macabre and quixotic universe that ensconces an individual, ever and again a pedestrian Caucasian male with an enfiladed psyche is just that.
In addition, I am unaware of how very more crystallizing I can imbue this declaration with - I am not prolific in engaging with the adulation of celebrities - I ain’t anybody’s internet defender, not Lili and not Cole. I simply get to mock everyone on this little here blog. It’s a fabulous system.
Cole Sprouse is that dude every woman knows, the “can I play devil’s advocate” dude who raises his hand with just his thumb and pointer finger and will ramble on about organic mead and how the finer points of technology are too “technical” for a layman to comprehend while you sit back and wish for death’s sweet embrace.

(09/26/23)
when you have been around for a long time you start to notice patterns in the greater world. in the art world there is a pattern of crisis’s of movements and methods that would “destroy or cheapen” art. in the punk/diy scene, there is a pattern of gate keeping and policing what punk is which can limit the growth of the genre and ironically outcast people who don’t conform. the pattern is a frenzy, then every time everything is okay.
the members of ls dunes have experienced this as individuals throughout their careers. starting in diy scenes and transitioning into being band with a label entering mainstream spaces they have had to deal with flack in the moment for things that people in the present love. example, mcr got flack from their peers for i’m not okay because it was dubbed as a pop song. ‘selling out’ is the career. you have to charge industry rates for concerts. you have to sell merch. you will advertise yourself, in interviews and now on social media. and on the other hand, the creative side of things is you will experiment with new technology and methodologies. create new art. i doubt they see ai as much different.
the argument for ai points out that it can increase accessibility and there is a point to be made about fair use of style and imagery. and we live in a time where reproduction can add value instead of subtract.
and before someone comes for my jugular, my personal stance is i am against ai. i just like fair discussion and calling out bullshit behaviour.
with ai recreating human voices, i think an example can be put forward that say if anthony’s voice is recreated and his physical image can be created in a visual projected performance and labels technically no longer ‘need’ him - people would still want the original artist and the fact that he is a person will always put him in priority to ai. and in that sense new artists will always be sought after for the reason - to have something real and new. i believe they don’t think that ai can ever replace artists. it is a fair argument even if you don’t personally agree. like they said, you can have your opinion.
ai is a bit like pandora’s box, it’s already been open and can’t be taken back. we need to look towards the future of how we approach this technology. for example, the writer’s guild is not demanding the erasure of ai, they are demanding regulation. we are in an uncertain time where we as a population are both experimenting with it while coming up with solutions to address how it can be abuse. ls dunes releasing this video won’t make or break anything. it’s in this interesting grey zone of ‘let’s give it a try to see and learn from it and if we don’t like it we don’t have to use it again’. looking back on it could be fascinating.
but harassing the band will not regulate ai technology. it’s one thing to disagree and to comment about that disagreement and not engaged with the art, it’s another thing to harass, mock and threaten. if you really care about the regulation of ai you can support the writers guild, start local campaign groups and write to government representatives. what is really pissing me off about the response to the old wounds is it is not even arm chair activism, it’s armchair bullying presented as activism.
i see people constantly complaining of the lack of online interaction (include mcr in this) - but then persecute for every mistake. no wonder why. quick to judge, quick to condemn, quick to attack. this is another reminder to the dunes that fans can never be trusted.  and so many false equivalencies and bad takes.
it is a slap in the face to say they don’t care about small creators when they have been sharing/promoting small artists on their instagram for weeks with linked accounts. the variety of artists they hire for album art/merch/music videos etc. supporting others in the scene. they aren’t as big of band as many fans seem to forget, they are not making their sole living off of dunes alone. it is a passion project. they have their other acts and other non music jobs to keep them afloat.
this backlash ironically feels relevant to ls dune’s discography, and many interviews/meet and greet questions.
i’m not all of my mistakes no matter what they say about it.
i would be shocked if they back down and i’m happy to see they keep a united front, even when things get difficult. they mean what they say.
everyone in the industry frowns upon this behaviour, btw. mob mentalities are not good vehicles for justice, there is a reason we hold trials and why prohibiting the death penalty protects the innocent and members of opposition.

AITA for being angry at my partner and maybe wanting some revenge at some point against my opponent?
There’s a big match that I’m (35 M) about to have to forfeit because of my partner (30 F) and it’s just a lot right now so bear with me.
So here’s the context: I have been a huge nut for this sport since I was a kid and I’ve been doing a great job in it since then. Everything started out great for this match too. I’m the defending World Champion, I’d had a great strategy lined up, the works.
We got to the press conference before the match and she was all hunky dory about it, gave me a little flak about my political stance, but hey, she usually is all for me badmouthing the bastards we’re going up against because they ruined her family and she had to live in a whole ass different country because of it. Apparently, according to her, I went overboard during the so called interview, but hey, in my defense, they were mocking US because they were saying I was out of my mind (rude, I have a condition) and she’s a woman (listen they don’t even know the half of it about her). If it weren’t for ME then they wouldn’t have the jobs they had and no one would even be into the game anyway!
I promise that is relevant. It sort of started the shitty spiral for me.
Anyway, the match starts and it is clear that the bastard (40~ M) is cheating (legitimately, like who shuffles around and sniffles and glances at his own partner that much during a game) so I refuse to play until I can get a fair shot. I also thought I deserved to be paid more for all of this nonsense, like really, I did bring this thing back into the spotlight for my country. I’m practically goddamned patriotic for that.
My partner started hounding me about needing to be nice to the opposition, and the way that she was going on about it almost sounded like she had some kind of thing for the guy. She insisted that I show up to some stupid meeting, but I had one of my own already.
So I go to my meeting where I get more money for me (and technically for my opponent too, not that that could be helped), and then I go to tell them both it’s not necessary to pretend to be friends and what do I find???
She’s all cuddly with this asshole in this stupidly romantic area. Such a pretty setting for pretty plotting, too. Now I can’t even be sure that she hasn’t spilled the beans on all of our plans. She’s also completely gone nuts if she thinks that anyone like him is any different than the people who ruined her life in the first place!
So I told her off (I even laid out how her dad would be disgusted in her choice) and then she quit. She quit! Like I didn’t deserve to lay it all out! If that isn’t proof enough, I don’t know what else is.
It’s all I’ve been able to think about. It feels like she did this on purpose. She knows that I get like this and the stress is too much. I feel like she wanted me to fail, and there’s no way that I can come back from the crappy games I’ve played so far. I’ve got to forfeit and resign to save what pride I’ve got left. But how is that fair to me?
So, AITA for feeling this way?

Bending the Costumes: Avatar: The Last Airbender with Costume Designer Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh
After many years of anticipation, Avatar: The Last Airbender has finally hit Netflix. Being such a beloved franchise, there was much pressure for the team behind this adaption to get things right. It’s a move that has already been rewarded with two more seasons on the way! One of those artisans who felt that pressure was Emmy-Award-winning costume designer Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh. In an interview just before the series’ release, Farnaz talked with me about the Avatar: The Last Airbender costumes, sharing insights into how she brought the iconic characters to life, the real-world inspirations behind the designs, and her hopes for what audiences will take from the series.
Special Note: Our friends at CAFTCAD are hosting a conversation with Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh on Saturday, April 20th, 2024. From sketch to screen, Farnaz and her team will dive into the creative process, inspiration, and craft that went into developing the costumes for this beloved series. Follow this link to purchase your tickets for this online and in-person conversation.
Spencer Williams: I am so excited to welcome costume designer, Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh. I’m so excited to talk to you!
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: I am so excited to be here.
Spencer Williams: Well, I just have to warn you. I’m a big nerd, and I especially love Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: I’m glad to hear. I’m a big fan of the show myself, so I love talking about it.
Spencer Williams: Well, let’s start from the beginning. Avatar: The Last Airbender is such a beloved story, obviously, and I don’t think I know anyone who has seen the original series and doesn’t like it. What was your initial reaction to taking on this project? Was there excitement, a bit of nervousness, maybe all of the above?
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: I’m a huge fan of the show. I watched it when it first came out and have probably seen it dozens of times since then. When the live-action adaptation was announced, I knew I wanted to work on it more than anything else. I kept saying that’s the show I want to be a part of, and when I finally got the interview and the job, it felt surreal. Even now, it feels incredible to wake up and realize I get to work on a show I’m so passionate about. It’s like a dream come true.
Spencer Williams: I can’t even imagine that feeling. It’s such a big show. A key part of this is staying true to the authenticity of the original animation. How did you balance maintaining the established designs while adapting them to a real-world setting? Since what works in animation doesn’t always translate directly to live-action filming, were there any specific challenges you faced in this process?
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: There were numerous challenges in adapting the show. While everything can be easily achieved in illustrations or animation, it’s much harder to translate those designs to real life and put them on an actual person.
There were many adjustments to be made, such as dealing with different fabrics that don’t move in the same way as illustrated or animated versions. Given that the show involves a lot of movement and technicality with the bending art form, we needed to choose fabrics and materials that moved and flowed with the bending while ensuring the actors were comfortable performing in them.
We also had to align the designs with the real-world inspirations, cultures, and periods the show is based on, such as mid-to-late 19th-century Southeast Asia, East Asia, and Indigenous cultures of that era. This required extensive research, testing, mock-ups, and blending of different materials to create a unique and cohesive look.
At the same time, we aimed to honor the original animation and stay true to the characters that fans loved. It was about finding the right balance to keep the characters and their designs as close to the original.
Spencer Williams: With that, you’re looking at characters, and you’re looking at the animation. Do you feel like there were moments where you could take creative liberties as well?
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: There were a lot of those moments! There were many elements we wanted to retain from the original show because they are iconic to the characters and important to include in the live-action adaptation. For example, Katara’s necklace, Sokka’s necklace, Aang’s cape, and color palette are crucial to their characters. Gyatso’s necklace also plays a significant role in a pivotal moment when Aang realizes Gyatso is gone.
We wanted to stay true to these iconic elements, but we also had to consider the cultural and historical aspects of the nations that inspired the story and world. It was important to base the looks on real-world cultures and maintain authenticity while staying faithful to the original animation.
Spencer Williams: That brings me to my next question. I never really thought about this until preparing for this interview, but the original animation was inspired by real-world cultures. Can you share insights into your research process for translating the animated world into a live-action setting? What were the key cultural and historical inspirations that influenced your costume design for each nation?
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: I started by examining the original inspirations for the animation. I looked at the different cultures the creators considered when designing the characters, and from there, I delved further into research. I expanded on the nations they chose and conducted a more in-depth study of their historical aspects, including the materials they used, their trading routes, and the historical events occurring during that period in that part of the world.
I also considered how various factors, such as color palettes, represented different statuses and socioeconomic backgrounds. From there, I built the worlds based on these real-world inspirations.
For example, Omashu is heavily influenced by Indian and Afghan cultures, as well as other parts of Central Asia. We also incorporated elements from Mesopotamian influences. We examined the region’s trading routes and connections with other countries at the time to understand what goods and influences were brought into that part of Asia. This research helped us create a look for Omashu that draws from these cultural and historical contexts.
Spencer Williams: It’s so exciting. The original series came out when I was a kid, and I watched it on and off back then. At the time, I didn’t really think about the influences and history that inspired the show. Now, as adults, we get to rewatch it and see it through a new lens, which is really exciting.
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: It was very much a historical lesson for me too! For all of us.
Spencer Williams: Can you tell me about your collaboration with the show creator, Albert Kim?
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: Albert Kim and I collaborated closely throughout the process. When I first got hired, I prepared a presentation for him as part of my research to secure the job. Once I got the position, he sent me a detailed inspiration booklet with write-ups, images, and ideas about the direction he wanted to take the show.
We had many discussions about his vision, such as how closely to adhere to the color palettes of the original animation and whether to take a more realistic approach or find a balance in the middle. We spent several months going back and forth on these points.
As I began creating illustrations and sketches and conceptualizing the worlds, we reviewed fabric swatches and conducted tests to find the ideal materials for the characters. It was a collaborative effort to achieve the perfect balance for the series.
Spencer Williams: It sounds like such a thorough process! Each nation has its own unique aesthetic, color palette, and background. What are some of the key elements that make each nation distinct from the others? For instance, Sokka and Katara’s looks feature lots of blues and fur. What elements make each of the nations feel unique?
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: Each nation has its own distinct world. The Southern Water Tribe, for example, they are isolated due to the war and have limited connections with other nations. We wanted to reflect that by using materials they have access to, such as animal furs, skins, and bones. We also drew inspiration from the ocean and icebergs, incorporating teals, whites, and blues into their world.
For the Air Nomads, they are peaceful and focused on natural elements. We used only natural fibers and materials like wood, cotton, linen, and natural dyes. Their color palette is based on fall colors, inspired by the changing leaves and the natural earth tones.
When it comes to the Fire Nation, my primary inspiration was the volcano and its eruption. The colors of lava, ash, and smoke were incorporated into their aesthetic, with a mix of dark hues, reds, oranges, and brightness. The Fire Nation is powerful and well-connected, allowing them to access a variety of materials from other parts of the world, which gives them more diversity in their appearance compared to the more insular Water Tribe and Air Nomads.
Spencer Williams: I love it. It sounds like color was a big part of your process.
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: Absolutely.
Spencer Williams: I imagine that working with the actors who portray these beloved characters must have involved a great deal of collaboration. Let’s talk about a few of them, starting with Aang. As the main character and the last airbender, the story revolves around him. What was it like working with Gordon Cormier to create his costume?
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: We actually designed Aang’s costume before the actor was cast. Once Gordon was chosen, we tested various materials on him to ensure he had the freedom of movement needed for his airbending actions. We wanted the materials to move fluidly with his bending and accurately portray the character’s abilities.
Gordon was still growing at the time, so we went through many variations of his costume. Although the look remained consistent, we often had to adjust his wardrobe—sometimes making new pants or shirts—because he was growing throughout filming. Even within weeks, we would have to build him new pants or a new shirt just because he was growing as we were going.
Spencer Williams: What a task! But all of the work very much paid off. Another character I find endlessly fascinating is Prince Zuko, played by Dallas James Liu. He comes from the Fire Nation, which, as you mentioned, is volcanic, dark, and kind of industrial. But this character that also has a lot of emotions and quite the story arc. So, how did you create a costume for Prince Zuko, and how did it add to the storytelling?
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: So we begin with Zuko, who is very much shielded. His armor is both literal and metaphorical, representing the facade he maintains as the perfect son and prince. This is reflected in his stiff and protective appearance.
As the story progresses, he gradually starts to shed these layers. He goes through a journey of self-discovery, trying to figure out who he is, where he belongs, and what he truly wants. He must decide whether to live his life according to his beliefs or follow the expectations set by his nation and his father. He’s a complicated character. But one of the best.
Spencer Williams: Yes, very complicated, for sure. My favorites though, are Katara and Sokka. I mean, they’re just classic characters that I believe everyone loves. What was it like working with these two characters? There is no way you weren’t excited as a fan!
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: I mean… yes! And they’re literally Katara and Sokka in real life. It was amazing. The cast was phenomenal to work with. The moment  Ian Ousley walked in, he was Sokka. Even during his initial mock fitting with canvas pieces, he instantly became Sokka. It made dressing him so easy because he naturally fit the character’s essence.
Spencer Williams: Did you feel like there was an energy on set where everyone was as excited to be a part of this?
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: Everyone who worked on the show either became a fan during the process or was already a fan going in, so there was a sense of awe every day.
Spencer Williams: It’s so exciting. There were so many costumes in this series, as well as impressive armor. I was blown away. You must have had an incredible collaborative team to manage all of that. How did you all pull it together?
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: It was a lot of long days, weekends, and nights, but I had an amazing team working with me to bring these beautiful looks and my visions to life. It was the biggest team I’ve worked with in my career so far—over 92 people just in my department.
That doesn’t include our outsourced vendors; this was just within our studio team. We had a huge group of talented individuals who poured their hearts and souls into the project. Everyone was dedicated to creating a great product, and I believe that really shows in the final result. I’m incredibly proud of everything they’ve accomplished and very proud of my team.
Spencer Williams: You should be proud because it turned out brilliantly. By the way, where did the filming take place?
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: It was all filmed in Vancouver. The cast and crew were mostly from Vancouver, with a few from Alberta. We have many talented people here, even if they don’t always get the recognition they deserve. It’s wonderful to showcase their amazing work.
Spencer Williams: Right, Vancouver is a great location with lots of incredible artisans. Farnaz, this is such a great series, and I’m thrilled with how much I love it. There’s a lot of pressure with a show like this. What did this project mean to you personally and professionally?
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: Personally, as a huge fan of the show, bringing the animated world to life meant so much to me. It was a major achievement and a professional milestone. Being a designer is something I’ve dreamed of since I was a little girl. I’ve worked hard to push boundaries, and this was a big step forward in my career. It gave me a chance to show what I can do and what I want to continue doing.
Spencer Williams: That’s amazing. What do you hope the fans will take away from the series?
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: I hope the series inspires them and that they enjoy it. I also hope it encourages them to learn more about other cultures and parts of the world to understand and appreciate our diverse, beautiful world. I hope it prompts people to travel, learn about history, and expand their horizons beyond their immediate surroundings.
Spencer Williams: That’s a beautiful sentiment. Thank you so much, costume designer Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh. It’s been a pleasure speaking with you. I’m so happy for you and your team, and I’m excited for the world to see your work.
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh: Thank you!

Peak behind the fic writing curtains time because I’m re-reading my notes for As Above and thinking about it lol.
So fun fact about the tapes! I wrote a draft for Wilbur’s tapes before I properly finished outlining Tommy’s perspective. I was kinda struggling to piece together Tommy’s story and I needed Wilbur’s outlined first and well… What this means is that I wrote the tapes in order of events, not in the “random” order Tommy found them.
I thought it’d be fun to share that order with y’all, plus it offers a bit of a new perspective on the events of As Above. I put it under the cut because it does contain spoilers for As Above So Below, just in case :)
Also for extra funsies, idk if it’s possible but since there is an order you might be able to figure it out on your own. So if your ARG brain is tingling then feel free to have fun with this, the answers are below. Just note some early tapes got skipped because they were just Wilbur reading notes to the open air which isn’t fun to read or write.
Without further ado this is the order I wrote Wilbur’s story in (along with brief summaries of each tape cos fuck! even I forget what I wrote sometimes lol)
1a - technical difficulties.
Wilbur’s introduction, both to himself his work and everything wrong with Lostfield
1b - unnamed interview 2.0
Wilbur’s interview with an unnamed resident at Lostfield, who we know is Ranboo! Wilbur learns very little information here, just makes Ranboo freak out!
2b- another unhelpful anecdote
Wilbur’s rather unhelpful interview with Technoblade, where he receives a nice long list of missing persons who just happened to show up on Lostfield.
3b - possible progress
(fun fact I nearly called this one research and crimes… probably should have tbh, it’s funnier) Wilbur gives an update on some of his personal findings about Techno’s research, and explains his plans to sneak into Lostfield and speak to the owner himself.
4a - interview with the owner
Wilbur does a little house tour and speaks to the owner of Lostfield AKA Dream. Their interview gets weird quickly and Wilbur feels like he’s panicking / losing control of himself.
4b - untitled (ch10)
Wilbur starts recording because he’s just woken up from his visit to Lostfield and he barely remembers what happened.
5a - if I don’t make it
Wilbur decides he needs to go back to Lostfield, he records a note for himself — or whoever finds the tape — incase he doesn’t make it back this time.
7a - courtesy of Lostfield apartments
Tapes that Wilbur is later given (mentioned in 6b goodbye) that detail his experience in Lostfield. The first tape is Wilbur talking to a voice that we cannot “hear”
7b - untitled (first half of ch12)
Dream’s mock-interview with Ranboo for Wilbur. Basically a repeat of 1b unnamed interview 2.0 but Ranboo actually gives answers this time.
5b - don’t go back
Wilbur, or something pretending to be Wilbur, starts recording the follow up for 5a before letting the real Wilbur wake up and have a full blown panic attack
6a - the last 3 days
Wilbur summarises what little he remembers from the 3 days he spent in Lostfield, mostly a recap of how he broke into Lostfield.
6b - goodbye
Wilbur recives a package containing a tape (7a and 7b) and he comes to the conclusion he’s in too deep and can’t escape. He uses this tape to say his final goodbyes
8a - untitled (second half of ch12)
Wilbur breaks into Lostfield with the tape recorder in hand. He gives some live insight as to what is down there before he spots something in the middle of the room and Dream appears.
