Sorry this came so late- but Merry Christmas @part-time-pixie !! I was your secret Santa for the @mlsecretsanta 2023 event! This piece went through a lot of complications because I was so unsure about a lot of things! Let me run down the process!

I knew it had to be your AU since that’s a lot more personal and I myself am a big fan of personalized stuff! So I actually never knew anything about Winx before this so I researched- about 6 episodes for context of the fairy and specialist relations- so that’s one reason why the startup was slow but then!! I needed to figure out a setting- originally I was going with Magix City- but the color palette was more green and I wanted a more warm palette- but for the life of me I couldn’t find a place that screamed romance- eventually I gave in and just looked up “date in Winx” or something like that- and boom!! This place showed up- so heavy inspiration of the setting from this screen shot (lots of details were forgotten waaah-)

And then it was little things- from my research I realized they only transformed when battling so I needed a casual outfit (note for some reason I forgot to apply this logic to Luka’s fit I’m sorry 😭) for Adrien that wasn’t his powered up form for a casual setting- I ended up just asking- and I hope that didn’t clue you in but nonetheless I hope it was still somewhat a surprise! I’m so glad I did though because at that point I could finally finish the sketch- which was around the end of December so I was stuck on that for a while 😭

I finished the line art and coloring in a rush and man you can tell ;v; I went through a lot in coloring stage- I tried finishing this piece during a family outing and my markers (about 80+) fell out of their holders and went everywhere- also learned coloring over my white pen did not in fact keep it solid and the white began to get washed away from the marker on top, revealing the line art I messed up on beneath- one of the things that made me glad I was late is when you made this piece and I realized his gem clasp was teal- I was gonna make it yellow since that was the last red fountain specialist color not used and I assumed he’d just take it lmao! Though in short I went through all the stages of grief when doing the coloring ;v;

All to say though I hope despite all the flaws you still like it! I was really happy with this around the line art stage and even now- I’m just harsh on my own work but this is actually the biggest piece in my art book (I’ve been working on this book since Summer 2022!) so I suppose that is to say I’m glad I was able to try something new with this one!

(Also small note but I realized the quality turned out really fuzzy on here- if you want @part-time-pixie I can send a zip file to you in dms?)

I’m usually not a big fan of stories where it’s "it's just X, but all the characters from Y" because in lot of cases the author ends up bending the characters around a tree to make them follow the narrative of the X story (like, owl house, but all the characters are from Steven universe or something). THAT SAID, using the PREMISE of X story with Y characters can be cool, and I feel like you could do something cool with the ML cast and the premise of Winx Club.

Oh yeah it's!!!

I think a chunk of it depends on if the world is good as a sandbox or not.

Like, for example, ATLA. That world is a hell of a sandbox to play with. You can put casts of characters in there and you can do whatever you want. Sometimes following the actual atla plot works, sometimes you follow the other series' plot but replace their magic system with Bending. Sometimes you take plot elements and create a whole new thing!

I actually do have an ML/ATLA AU that does the last thing, taking some plots from ML and adapting them, but mostly letting them go on adventures in the world.

But yeah Winx, while not having as solid a system as something as atla, does have plenty of room to sandbox. There's so many planets and types of Magic. We don't need to follow Canon's thing with our new lead being a lost princess or a group of Witches as the villains. We can just say the various ML cast are from whatever planets they vibe with and yeet them at Alfea/Cloud Tower/Red Fountain.

Winx Club actor AU & Headcanons - Part One

Just a bunch of thoughts I have on an actor AU for the Winx Club. I went crazy for this. ENJOY! Time makes no sense here because AU.

Iginio Straffi and his team of producers; Mary, James, Jennifer and Steffani did their best to build the story of Winx Club. But they couldn’t quite get it off the ground until late 2002.

The producers looked at over 1000 girls to find the five main fairies. They were keen on getting their main five when they were building the show in 2003 so they could announce them as quick as possible.

Tecna got cast first which was a surprise. They needed a girl who could be rational to a fault but could also have emotions sitting in the background aching to forth. When Tecna came through the doors, Iginio knew they had their fairy of technology.

Flora was next. They had all types of girls auditioning but none could get this character duality of shy but with an inner power she hadn’t totally grasped yet. Then Flora came in and they loved her. She auditioned for Bloom, herself and Stella originally. They had her come back a couple of times until they were 1000% sure.

Stella was more of a theatre and movie star so she wasn’t sure she wanted to commit to a TV show and really wasn’t sure of Winx. She had just finished a year doing a bluesy musical version of Much Ado About Nothing and needed a new project. So her manager found her something different to try out and she did. She nabbed the role of the sun and moon fairy because everyone just loved her vibrant sunny energy.

The main character was difficult to cast because no one actress really fit the bill. Or the producers were just wushu washy, changing their minds every five minute. Until they saw a certain redhead behind the open door. This redhead was Bloom and she had auditioned for Stella. They had her come in for the MC and they admired the righteous and impulsive fire this girl brought to the role while remaining likeable. Bloom originally was bummed to not nabbing Stella but this character grew on her.

The fifth fairy was difficult to cast because her character wasn’t even completely ironed out yet. The producers knew they wanted artsy but tortured for the character and they were gonna name her Lisa. So they had a jumble of mismatched girls coming in for the role. Eventually this green haired girl from China comes in with her soulful eyes and a voice that can be sassy and heartbreaking at once. They really liked her so they kept bringing her back, while redesigning this character to fit this actress, Musa. She had just gotten off of School of Rock when she began with Winx.

After one chemistry test between the girls where they tested out the scene in 1x02 when the club is being named, (in what the girls remember as a pretty blue room) Iginio and the producers stood up and yelled “the Winx Club has been formed.”

When talks began about bringing in a sixth darker skinned fairy to the team, Beatrix (who plays Stormy) or Darcy came to Steffani the producer (this story varies on who told it) and told her about this really cool actress named Aisha who they should consider. She’s more of a model and an athlete but she has done a few notable screen roles before. Yes, Aisha is a friend but she’s talented. A while later, Aisha was contacted to do a trial run, then a screen test with the girls to test for chemistry. It was palpable and everyone knew they had heir sixth fairy.

Darcy, Stormy, Jared from season 2, Musa and Aisha like to hang out a lot.

There was a major cast party when the newcomers for season 2 was cast. The Winx, Specialists, Trix, School staff, pixies and even Calvin Shuemacker (who plays Knut the Ogre) came.

Palladium, Griffin and Faragonda couldn’t make it unfortunately. And Darcy was real upset when Ediltrude and Zarathustra from Cloudtower mentioned they couldn’t come either. Apparently they are the life of the party even at their age.

Timmy likes to steal props from set. His favorite is his gun.

Isobel is a natural blonde and she dies her white white and adds extensions to make her hair extra long to play Icy. So does Darcy. Stormy has a wig on since she has regular straight hair and it’s quick than spending hours frizzing her hair. They have a running joke about how none of them have real hair.

Francine the Water Fairy and Bloom met on casting day and are friends.

Mirta actually brought in her pumpkin t-shirt one day on set. Costume design loved it and had to incorporate it in her character look.

Darker is mostly CGI. His actor has to put on a green screen suit whenever he has a scene.

Brandon is a riot on set and everyone loves him. Everyone character has been shipped with him at least once so he’s started a rumour that he’s dated every character cause he has chemistry with everyone. Musa still gets red about it sometimes.

Riven actually is a pretty soft guy and cries easily in real life so he has a hard time being moody and unlikable in season 1. Bloom and Sky had to hug him after Bloom humiliated him in that episode.

The girls love their Enchantix forms but moving around with their new wings were a bit of a challenge at first.

Darcy auditioned for Flora back in the casting process. Because of this, she and Flora were always trying to convince the writers to do a body swap episode. They think it’d be hilarious to see Flora be mean and sneaky and have Darcy be softer and friendly.

Helia’s hair is mostly a wig which is a surprise to everyone.

Kiko is a trained rabbit that Bloom had really bonded with. She got to keep him after season 1 wrapped up.

Most of the show is filmed in green screens and made up sets. None of the Schools are real.

Sky has somehow landed in the hospital at least once per season. The guy is just really clumsy.

The girls all got really teary and emotional at the movie premiere of SotLK.

They did the countdown thing HP did for their final filming days. There are videos of everyone crying at least once in the BTS of the movie with the Winx giving one final speech before wrapping up.

They all did come back for season 4 and it was hugs all around.

Winx Club - Inconsistencies & Questions I have

I thought I’d list down some inconsistencies I’ve found in Winx Club, mainly because they are so busy making the show marketable. I may be an original fan but don’t think I didn’t notice these things. Feel free to add other inconsistencies you have noticed @cyithrel Seriously, if I rewrote Winx Club, I could add so many new headcanons.

Why was Stella on earth in the first episode? We never found that out.

For being such an emotional person, how come Bloom only discovers her powers at 16?

Is Flora a princess or not? In Magical Adventure she says she is. She was invited to Domino’s Restoration ceremony where I imagined people thought she was a princess but her parents are botanists.

Musa is not a princess but I’ve heard she was.

Tecna isn’t either but I swear she was one in the comics.

Why does Aisha’s name change per country. I grew up with the show in French so I met her as Layla but in English, she makes sense as Aisha.

Daphne. She doesn’t make sense either. In Nick, she wasn’t Bloom’s sister yet she is in the general canon. It makes sense if she was her guardian fairy or even fairy godmother. Why is she blonde if neither of her parents are?

Roxy may be a Winx but she also isn’t. She’s only a clear member in season 4.

Do people hate witches universally? And yet why is Cloud Tower a popular witch school if witches are hated? Or is there more to the lore that we just never got an explanation for. Maybe the witch hatred changes from planet to planet. Eraklyon for example, hates them.

Are fairies and specialists considered better? Because this would explain why partly why the Trix want to take over the magical dimension cause they’re tired of the mistreatment of witches.

The Trix are super inconsistent: originally they were supposed to be the Ancestral Witches made young but that was scrapped. If each Trix is fashioned after each ancestor (ie Lysliss is Icy, Darcy is Belladonna and Stormy is Tharma,) then it doesn’t make sense for the Trix to be sisters because that would mean each Trix is descended from three different lines. Are the ancestors even related?

The writing just adds new lore that just throws off or away established parts of the canon. Like Erendor being responsible for Domino’s destruction. That should have been revealed in season two and made Eraklyon be Bloom’s ally for its restoration.

Some of the transformations don’t make sense. Obviously they were added for marketing. Sirenix is an example of a lost transformations since Daphne and Politea were the last ones before the Winx. What tf about Bloomix or Mythix.

Mythix could be a transformation the Winx discovered. Or at least unlocked since the Great Dragon roamed the universe and fairies came to the universe. Eldora or Nebula didn’t seem to be aware there was a transformation attached to it.

Bloomix could be a new transformation… (Fucking named it after Bloom.) But then how would Faragonda know what it’s called. Maybe it’s a super rare transformation. Dragon Fire wielders might even rarely earn it.

I understand and even admire the concept of Enchantix being earned through a sacrifice for someone of your own planet. By why from someone from your planet specifically? Who was it that wrote Bloom could have sacrificed herself for someone on Earth since it’s practically her planet too. And how can I explain Tecna sacrificing herself for Andros. Either she’s part Andros (which could make her part mermaid 😁) or the rule isn’t as clear cut as Faragonda made it.

What’s Brandon’s deal? How did he get to be Sky’s squire. And why is he a squire? I swear he looks like he is better than Sky.

Where the fuck are all the boys from? I refuse to have them all be from Eraklyon. Timmy could be from Zenith too. Which leads me to wonder why are they just eye candy? Maybe it was just of the time.

Oh and about the girls’ ages. If we follow general convention that each season takes place a year apart from each other (making the girls 23 by season 8,) or we just count the years and take into account the years of hiatus which would make the girls around 30 by 2022.

Why are the Major fairies part of the lineup in season 4 if we only meet them after like episode 20? Diana, Morgana and Aurora could have been cool additions to the club. But what about Nebula. Seriously why are they there?

Does anyone remember a season 4 opening without the major fairies or just me? Because I swear it’s a thing.

Switching transformations should have been a thing since season 5 instead of insisting of staying with one or two transformations per season. For example; Enchantix is the baseline and can allow for some of the basics of other transformations (like allowing for magic underwater and breathing in space.)

What the fuck is with Nabu? He should have been back by now. I refuse to think he’s really dead when Morgana and Nebula promised said they’d watch him until he woke up again.

Why can Daphne control the elements? Is that a power an ex keeper of the dragon flame gets? I still feel like Bloom has other powers she hasn’t unlocked yet.

Flora… About her magic, she seems like her only power involves plants. If she’s the fairy of nature, she must have other powers or she needs to change her title, something more than fairy of flowers and maybe more specific than fairy of nature.

Stella. She’s barely got moon powers. Is her sun half more overpowering? And how does it work. I am starting to see why Nickelodeon decided to just let her go by Fairy of the shining sun.

Aisha: how did she decide on her diary title? How did she learn about Morphix. Can it affect water or Morphix its own thing. And can it be given away like the Dragon Fire?

Why are the Winx fighting Darkar before Valtor? It seems to me Darkar is more powerful and dangerous. It always comes back down to the Dragon Fire.

She was a loT more difficult than Mari, mainly because I couldn’t decide on a look for her. I decided to use blue and yellow instead of the Queen Bee look (mainly bc they just DONT wear black in Winx) but i’m happy with the result!

I loved the Miraculous x Winx fanart you made. I can’t quite decide whether Marinette is a fairy of luck or creation. And Adrien is definitely from the family of powerful Agrestes. He had powers but he doesn’t want to use them so he gave them up once and it’s taken the form of a cat. He’s decided to become a specialist instead. Just my little headcanon ☺️

New icon made in Picrew, first time!! She’s so pretty,

This is my Pokemon Champion, her full name is Chandra Chakrabarti Celestine, an elegant queen who thrives on drama but refuses to start it. I’ll probably write more in the future but she is close friends with Champion Penny Rolling and Zoe Lee due to being actresses plus Champion Marinette has a crush on her due to her skills as a model and has many posters of her famous outfits and designs, she is very encouraging to her fans and supportive despite her smug exterior. A calm, classy and collected woman who does not necessarily use Mega Evolution or Z Power, only finding these techniques to be used in important situations, unlike most trainers.

She’s a polite and formal woman, who may look prim and proper but is the dignified heiress to a grand legacy. Chandra enjoys wearing the latest fancy clothes, but she likes also anything cute and elegant lolita. She keeps her hair in a braided bun with a crown and moon decorations. Often disguise herself to go out but is never never goes anywhere without her parasol as it provides a necessary air of elegance according to Chandra as said by Aurore, who looks to her and is a huge icon in her life. A world famous actress, fashion supermodel. She is also shown to be honorable and brave as she wants to protect the people of any region, regardless if they are from her region.

Background:

💎She secretly thrives in drama and can be rather dramatic herself, likes to watch it happen as long as it isn’t her business while quietly avoiding it herself. Even then she knows when to step in and is used being called a drama queen which she takes with pride

💎Came from a wealthy family but parents were emotionally abusive and neglectful since they were always busy with work and had caretakers for her. It was there that she tends to sneak in her parents room and try on her mum’s clothes, makeup and jewelry. As a result, she later considered to be very beautiful and famous, so it comes in handy wearing disguises.

💎 It was then she wanted to try modeling and later acting as she constantly watched telenovelas and soap operas and just adored how the characters filled their scenes with emotion and was allow to take classes when her folks once returned home if it meant her being busy. even when she was able to take acting/drama/ modelig classes, that was still the upstart of her careers.

💎When they were there, it was a very controlling household, where she followed the rules and obeyed everything and didn’t step out of line since her parents would give her want she wanted but not the attention she needed. Chandra grew out of this and bolted the moment she was of trainer age. She no longer speaks to them, only a few trusted family relatives/members.

💎 Cutting contact with them, she ends up having a family with her pokemon team and her other fellow champions and enjoys having a love-hate relationship with Felix, who is also a fellow actor and know exactly how to both fluster and annoy him at the exact time but also calm him down. is very kind towards the people who deserve, those who harm others will face her wrath and sharpness.

💎 Speaks Kalosian, Achuian and Paraison, her Kanto/Johto/Hoenn tongue isn’t really that good. She grew up a natural at acting using expressive body language to get people’s attention, can lie with a straight face, knowing all the rumors and can debunk them in their place with her silver tongue.

💎 Is very confident and proud of herself but not haughty and only close acquaintances would know that she does struggle with her body image due to her ex mother yet that doesn’t stop her. She adore sweets, mostly chocolate and loves going out to try new desserts. Fell in love with Mari’s baking instantly. favorite drink is mocha with chocolate, ice cream is red velvet

💎 Despite her slightly manipulative and scary behavior, she is not at all arrogant or nasty, she’s willing to follow her pride to ask for help, donates much of her money to people and pokemon in need, doesn’t mind aging, Chandra’s a philanthropist and genuinely loves her pokemon, won’t hesitate to protect others, same goes with her fellow champions and will not tolerate/stand harassement

Chandra is now behind Chloe and coldly asking without any emotion “WHAT DID YOU CALL MY STARLETTE??” Marinette thought that was the most fastest Chloe has ever ran in her life, after Mendeleiev kicked her out

💎Gives out nicknames to her acquaintances, for instance she gives Marinette the nicknames “Starlette” believing she has talent in acting but that she’s a star in fashion and likes to brag about her fellow champs and acquaintances and celebrates their accomplishments cause she’s so proud of them

Marinette causally “according to Chandra showing off” her new fashion sketches

Marinette blushing and awkwardly rubbing her hand behind her head, “Yeah, I hope y-you like th-them Miss-er-madame Chandra..”

Chandra staring at the drawings for a long time, looking critical and having her usual deadpan stare before looking up and smiling with closed eyes in a voice a few pitches too high squealing

“I LOVE THEM!! THEY ARE SO YOU STARLETTE, I SIMPLY ADORE HOW YOU POSED THE MODEL, YOU HAVE TO LET ME MODEL ONE-”

Marinette: waving her hands flustery “No-no-wait!!”

💎Can charm her way out of any situation since she refuses to start them, she ain’t petty but is a very smooth talker and slight manipulative hich she uses when the time is right, usually against enemies. Like all champions, has taken self defense classes but uses it as a final option and prefers not to fight physically but will still fight back with heels and parasol

Team(all girls and has a preference for fairy type pokemon, hence her nicknames like the Lady of the Moon, the Fairy Queen, would play Diantha’s theme for her battle and literal all the Diantha remixs)

What they could have done: have Marinette want to go to Shanghai to learn about her mothers culture and only see Adrien there by coincidence. What the clowns did instead: continued to refuse to let this girl move on by having her use the money her parents saved up on the hope she’ll want to go to China one day, just so that she can chase a white boy.

I guess clown award goes to Thomas Astruc for confirming that only will Marinette be forced to constantly suffer over her crush but also that this show will never change at this rate; it relies on Marinette suffering over her crush and making mistakes when half the time, most of those mistakes aren’t hers even and she’s just getting blamed for them. Like, this type of formula only works if your a, a non-continuity show and b, don’t have a large cast of characters, but Miraculous is a continuity show and does have a large cast of characters and therefore, all the characters should be learning from mistakes, not just Marinette, especially as Marinette’s constantly had to learn lessons about her crush to the point that now turning a special that could have been about her and her heritage into....another Marinette Suffers Cause Of A Boy moment, really just screams they can’t be bothered to give Marinette anything else to do. If you are a continuity show, lessons like this SHOULD stick, but not in miraculous- this show will reach to the heavens to excuse another Marinette suffers episode, and the fact that Thomas just confirmed in reply to a tweet on why Marinette in Shanghai has to be about Adrien, really confirms this show isn’t trying anymore to hide that Marinette’s suffering drives the show.

Honestly, the fact that Marinette got more shit from Adrien over being happy her bully was leaving then Chloe did for NEARLY CRASHING A TRAIN FULL OF PEOPLE, says it all really when it comes to the writing in ML.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try to on fics with less comments - I like letting people know I appreciate them taking the time to tell me what they think! I struggle more if there are a lot of comments (like on mArinette for example) because I just don’t have the ADHD spoons for it.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

The thing is, I LOVE writing angsty middles, but I need to resolve it by the end. Probably Good Enough, since it’s from the point of view of an unreliable narrator with a victim complex.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

Currently mArinette, but one of my current WIPs has a big happy ending coming its way soon…

Do you write crossovers? If yes, what’s the craziest thing you’ve ever written?

Oh my god yes!! Please go and read On Se Sent Comme Par Magie, it’s a 4/6 parts completed Les Misérables fic set to a Winx Club AU and it’s looking more and more like it could compete with the original book in the way of wordcount. I’ve also written two Heathers AUs (Dazzlings and Dear Diary) and mArinette is an Easy A AU; I also have something vaguely planned in the way of a Kim Possible/Harry Potter crossover AU where Kim and Ron are wizards.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

I’ve had annoying nitpicky commenters, sure, but nothing in the way of genuine vitriol. Lilanon has been a dick on a couple of Miraculous fics, but she’s just irritating.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Nothing explicit, but Dazzlings and A Delinquent and a CIT both have scenes where sex is happening on-screen. Dazzlings’ sex scene (Chapter 5) is entirely dialogue, while A Delinquent and a CIT (Chapter 15) is more focussed on thoughts and emotions, but in both there is no doubt whatsoever what’s going on.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Probably not, although some of my Tumblr posts concerning fics have wound up on instagram without permission.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not yet!

Have you ever cowritten a fic?

Back in the day, me and my friend Bozzy collabed a massive multifandom Hogwarts AU that we still sometimes go back and reread aloud for shits and giggles (yes, we do voices), however it never made it to screen. There is talk of a possible collab fic I’d be involved in in the ML Writers Guild, so eyes open!

What’s your all-time favourite ship?

The one that’s stuck around longest is Duncan/Courtney (Total Drama), although I’m a big fan of Marius/Cosette and Enjolras/Grantaire (Les Mis), Fred/Daphne (Scooby Doo), and Sunset/Flash (Equestria Girls). I’m not so involved in ML anymore, but my favourite ship from it is Adrien/Marinette.

What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

I would LOVE to finish 10 Times Carlotta Sugrue-Dupain Got Very, Very Angry, but I don’t really see it happening. I haven’t touched it in more than a year. I may have to change it to “5 Times”.

What’re your writing strengths?

According to my beta reader, readability and fluid writing, suspense and engagement with characters. Love you E <3

What’re your writing weaknesses?

I’m so aware that I can drag stuff out longer than it needs to be dragged while I try to change scenes. Changing scenes. Ugh. Help.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in fic?

I try to avoid more than the occasional phrase (mostly with French, Italian or Spanish characters) thrown in as a hesitation noise or as part of a conversation observed by another character, unless it’s in the languages I specifically invented for On Se Sent Comme Par Magie using a language generator. I’m only fluent in English and Scots (and at that, I can’t write in Scots even though I can speak it and understand it), and I know how hard it is to make mistakes or clumsy sentences if you’re using an online translator.

What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?

There are a lot of ways to interpret this one. The first fanfiction ever? I rewrote the ending of a whale documentary, Ocean Odyssey: Secrets of the Deep. The first fic with the knowledge it was fic? My Little Pony human AU (this was before Equestria Girls happened). The first fic I liked enough to publish? Total Drama. The first fic I posted on AO3? My Little Pony: Equestria Girls.

What’s your favourite fic you’ve ever written?

Does On Se Sent Comme Par Magie count as a single fic? If not, my favourite part of it is The Warlock Of The Flame.
