“Um, hi, I have an appointment with y/n?”

The receptionist looked up, smiling at Takemichi, and he can’t help but let a nervous smile crack his face too, his hand already reaching to scratch at an itch at the back of his neck that wasn’t there.

“Of course, your name please?”

“Hanagaki.”

The receptionist, the name tag read ‘Chitose’, picked up the phone, quickly dialling in a number as he tapped his pen on the papers, crossing out Takemichi’s name.

“Hello, miss? Yes, you 4 o’clock is here. Yes, I understand, I will send him in right away.”

Asking him to follow them, the receptionist walked him to the elevator, pressing the button for the top floor before exiting, waving Takemichi goodbye with a warm, pleasant smile.

Takemichi let out a sigh of relief.

He was honestly jealous he never managed to land a position in your company, even if it’s something as small as a janitor, but you turned him down as soon as he asked, stating that you have a strict ‘No employing friends’ policy before slipping him a cheque, winking, stating it’s a gift.

It made him vaguely feel like shit.

He hasn’t seen you in a while, and as the numbers in the elevator rose, he felt his gut twisting.

He hasn’t seen you ever since Naoto and you split, Hina firmly placing your name on their ‘No contact’ list without a sliver of hesitation, and really, Takemichi understood, even if he did miss you a little.

The two of you were friends since way before Naoto, meeting via Draken when Takemichi first joined Toman.

Well, it was less meeting and more casual greetings, since you stuck to Draken’s side like glue, never leaving him alone for more than a few hours at a time, to the point Takemichi thought you lived in the brothel too.

The elevator opened with a ping without Takemichi even noticing, and he was startled as he heard the loud music trashing, your voice calling out for him.

Taking a sharp breath, he stepped in.

Your hand was already reaching for the remote, turning the music down, keen eyes meeting Takemichi’s.

“You needed help with that thing?” Blunt and to the point, you nodded towards the laptop he was gripping.

A flash of confusion passed his face, before he realised why he was here in the first place and he handed you the laptop, almost dropping it.

Ordering him to sit, you opened it quickly, asking him for his password and what was the problem.

Curtly explaining, you nodded, your finger clicking the keypad a couple of times, focused on the task at hand.

“You know, you were such a cute couple.” Takemichi licked his lips, starting his already rehearsed speech.

“Don’t.” Your tone was a warning, but you didn’t bother looking up from the screen, so Takemichi considered that a good sign.

“I mean, you were happy. It could have stayed like that.”

Raising an eyebrow, you look up at Takemichi and his nervous fidgeting.

Wordlessly, you turned the laptop towards him.

“Takemichi, can you read what this says please?” You sounded cheerful, but Takemichi could tell you were pissed.

He gulped.

“Reset?”

“Yes. Something you could have done in a few seconds, on your own. And you wasted my time on Naoto’s laptop, no less.” Slamming it shut, you handed him the laptop, brows furrowed and eyes sharp.

“Listen, you’re the best IT person we know, I just assumed-“

You pointed at the door, no longer looking at him as you grabbed the remote for the radio, turning the music on again.

“Y/n, please, just-“

“Out.”

“Naoto- He-“

“Out before I call security.”

You didn’t even spare him a second glance as he scurried to the elevator with his tail in between his legs.
