Desperately trying to make sense of Alex's motivations in Season Two and you know, I do eventually have to wonder if maybe Alex wasn't actually lying in the majority of those tapes.

Like, we tend to assume that Alex's motivations have been a consistent throughline since the college years, but do we actually know that that's the case? Do we know for sure that Alex was acting in deliberate, calculated ways in 2006; or could it be that he's telling the Truth on those olds tapes when he says he's blacking out and can't remember what's happening to anyone? After all, if we're assuming that Season 2 Alex's motivations are the exact same as his motives in Season 3, then it doesn't make any sense at all that he spend months working with Jay to try to find Amy; Season 3 Alex would have attempted to kill Jay like, on sight just to get things over with as quickly as possible and contain the spread of contamination as best as he could.

But, maybe, if Alex really had been separated from Amy after the events of the 04-04-10 tape, and if he really doesn't know where she is, then maybe that could make things start to make more sense. Maybe he really had been watching Jay's channel, and seeing Jay start going through the same things he went through in college without things devolving into violence and disappearances, and wondered if things maybe could play out differently this time. Maybe he really did send that tape to Jay to ask him for help, maybe he really was just trying to find Amy.

But then, instead of actually being helpful, Jay makes it extremely clear that he's a lot more interested in stalking Alex than he is in finding Amy. Alex asked for help, and instead there's a bunch of masked dudes on Jay's heels that keep attacking him, Jay is breaking into his house, stealing his things, leading the Operator right to him all over again, keeps trying to get other people (namely: Jessica -- if Alex is being honest when he says that his call reassuring her that Amy had been found was an effort to make Sure she stayed away from everything that was happening) involved; and instead of anything getting better, instead of anyone finding Amy, things are just getting worse all over again.

It's not until after the incident at the tunnel that things seem to start rapidly devolving. Rather than a calculated attempt to finally follow through with his need to curb the spread of contamination, this is very clearly an outburst of rage and terror. Alex's "I told you not to follow me" line in conjunction with Jay speculating that Alex didn't know who that guy was, to me, pretty firmly seems to speak to Alex having mistaken that stranger for Jay. From his point of view, Alex knows that Jay and totheark know where he live, have broken in before, he suspects that Jay stole a key to make it easier to get into his house, and he's been followed on the daily for months -- Alex is sitting at the tunnel because he doesn't know where else he can go without being constantly surveilled, hunted, and assaulted. And instead of getting a moment by himself to breathe, Jay followed him out there all over again (it feels like Alex looks directly at the camera in Jay's footage of him from this day; he knew for a fact that Jay was there), and then to make matters worse now 'Jay' won't even keep his distance anymore.

So Alex lashes out. And it's not until afterwards that he looks down and finally recognizes that this wasn't Jay -- it was someone completely innocent. Things have finally reached the low point he was at in college all over again; maybe even worse this time. If Alex doesn't remember attacking anyone in college, but he was at least partially conscious of it this time, then things have reached an entirely new rock bottom, they've reached an absolute point of no return.

He has no idea what happened to Amy, and he's spent months trying to find her with no hint of where she could be; he doesn't know where Jay actually is or what additional trouble he could be causing at this point; he does know that now innocent people are getting caught in the crossfire (in regards to the stranger in the tunnel, and also Jessica now that Jay has her phone number, and the untold number of people Jay got involved when he started posting videos to the Marble Hornets channel); things are spiraling out of control and there's no one left to ask for help. The situation isn't getting better, it's getting worse; things aren't getting easier to handle, they're just getting more out of hand; the negative impact is spreading and who knows how much further it can still go?

So, Alex decides to go scorched earth. He disfigures the body with the rock either to hide evidence or to make sure the guy would actually stay dead and not just get back up to start his own cycle of contamination in a few years. He tries to give Jay one last chance to back off, and Jay instead admits he's been talking to Jessica, acts obstinate and lies about not having Alex's spare key, and then breaks into Alex's house a second time (minimum). If Alex doesn't stop him now, who will? Alex met with Jay planning to kill the others, and then himself, so he could put a stop to this once and for all and keep things from getting any worse than they already were.

Maybe it makes a lot more sense if, rather than being a strangely incomprehensible detour on what should have been a straight path, the events of Season Two were the breaking point that put Alex on that path to begin with.

I've been thinking a lot lately about the tendency to take Characters at Face Value; when they tell us things we tend to #automatically believe them despite what evidence we might have to the contrary. & like when it comes to deciphering what #went down during the college film project it's mostly totheark that posits that Alex was Definitely Lying and Definitely Acting on Purpose #(even Jay is largely ambivalent - wondering which way it leans and basically saying it could go either way)#but. do we KNOW that they know that? Do we Know that they're Right when they claim that? Or are they just Assuming based off #of their own rage and animosity towards Alex due to what happened? Do we Know for Sure that Alex Was Lying in s1?#i don't know if we do!! And so without Knowing that for sure; how can we speak to Alex's motivations in season one OR season two?#now TO BE CLEAR: I am not saying this in an attempt to claim that Alex is somehow completely innocent of all guilt and that like.#Jay is the 'Real Antagonist' of the series - not at all my intention. this is just More of my usual 'look. For those of you wondering what my brain's been chewing on for the past few months. I present to you my incredibly long fanfic.

How long, you may be wondering if you haven't seen the other post?

The low estimate is 154-253.5k.

The more accurate estimates are at about 308-338k.

The most generous estimates could be up to about 507k (assuming the intended goal of 169 chapters is reached).

For reference, Gone With The Wind tops out at just under 420k (haha nice).

Why? Why am I doing this? The answer is, I don't know.

Something about this story just has my brain chewing and chewing and chewing like an overdone but delicious steak that keeps giving you more and more flavor as you chew it.

Every time I think the plot's going to thin out and I'm going to have to give up or shorten this, my brain spits out more plot points to happen.

I have so many fucking notes and a decently well-documented source material to work with (the SDV wiki is pretty extensive).

Even the documentation of the source material that already exists isn't extensive enough for how ridiculously in-detail I'm going - so I'm spending at LEAST 6 fucking hours using a mod to record NPC paths, which I'll then manually input into those spreadsheets I was talking about. Some NPCs are going to get more content than the original source material gave them, so their schedules are going to have to be generated from scratch.

Mind you, this whole fic starts a year before the PCs even arrive. So not only do I have to figure out schedules for things that happen before the events of the game (such as Abigail exploring the farm and Elliott moving in), but I have to adjust schedules for Year 1 (or 2 depending on how you look at it) according to deviations from the source material.

Y'all can probably find this if you look hard enough for it, the first 8 (correction: 9) chapters are published on AO3 and I've been talking about some of the details on both my AO3 and my Tumblr account. The fic tags need updating since some new developments happened - I'll get to that eventually.

Anyways, those little lines and dots are just to indicate that Jackson and Apollo are both farmers. Yes, Apollo is a woman, despite her name. fuck your gender roles and gendered names she does what she wants. Yes, Maru is non-binary, because why the fuck not. Yes, Haley's trans because fuck the police.

Results of the nonbinary name survey

Hi folks, just thought I'd throw together a quick report about nonbinary names based on the recent survey.

The survey ran from 4th until 13th May, and there were 5,179 usable responses. For this one I won't share the full spreadsheet of all responses, as it contains potentially identifying information. Having said that, you can find a spreadsheet of the information I can share with you here. Every name entered only once has been redacted.

Most popular names

Let's kick it off with the main reason I did this survey, finding the nonbinaryest name:

Alex was #1, with 1.6%, which is 1 in 62 nonbinary people.

Name length

I'm familiar with the stereotype that nonbinary people choose names by taking 3 letters from a bag of Scrabble tiles, or that nonbinary people take letters off their given names until it's one ungenderable syllable, and I would like to take this opportunity to add that these are both excellent ways to create new names. :D

This graph takes a rolling median name length from the whole list, and it shows that generally speaking the most popular names tended to be shorter:

The average name length was 5.1 characters long.

This seems to support the stereotypes, but I feel it's worth mentioning that we can't know for sure whether it actually does, because for all we know, binary people's names might show these kinds of patterns too.

Number of names per person

Participants could enter as many names as they wanted, in a list separated by commas. That made it pretty easy to count them, and it turned out like this:

That's fairly straightforward, most people have only one name.

Problems with survey design

Overall I definitely feel that the survey had some flaws. I knew in advance that there would be some people who have more than one name that they like more or less equally, but for some reason the first question I came up with assumed that you have one name that you like most and then required a single answer from a list stating how that name happened to you - leading the respondent to a different section based on that answer.

What if you've got two or more names that you like equally, and one was given to you by your parents when you were born that you use for work, one is a nickname based on that name that evolved between you and your family and friends as you were growing up, and one is a name you chose yourself and your closest friends call you that? That's pretty much an impossible question, isn't it?

And there were several other questions in the survey that took that approach, making the data from those questions basically useless.

I didn't think it would cause problems for so many people, but it did, and I have learned my lesson there.

However, there was a question asking you to list all your names, and that's what I used to make the ranked list. I don't see how people with more than one name that they prefer completely equally (i.e. those people who would be thrown out of the survey by an impossible required first question) would prefer different names from people with one name only, so I think the ranked list is probably approximately okay, and same for the number of names per person graph and the average name length.

Implications

I haven't decided yet, but I definitely think there's scope for doing this survey annually - but separately from the identity/titles/pronouns survey, for anonymity reasons. It could be fun to track popular nonbinary names over time, similar to the popular name lists for babies that are usually split by boys'/girls' names. It might be a bit meaningless unless I collect country data as well though, which is why the list currently reads very....... American..........

Now that I've learned a lot from a big and not-so-well-designed survey run on my personal account, I'd feel more comfortable designing something a bit more fit for purpose, and running it from the @gendercensus accounts to hopefully get more participants.

Alex knew Brian and Tim were close. Brian is one of Alex's closest friends, and he knew about Tim a long while before he met the man. Alex first met him when Brian was 'auditioning' for the part of Brian, the main character in his film he was making. (Brian already had the part, in Alex's mind. Alex heavily based the character of his friend, and named the role after him.)

Don't get Alex wrong, Tim was an attractive man. He just… he wasn't Alex's type. He seemed very… nervous, talking to most people, his back stiff and arms crossed. Alex really only saw the man's guard get let down when he was off to the side, having a short, private chat with Brian. And Alex didn't think anything of it — why would he?

No, Alex was far more interested in his long term friend. He had talked to Jay, one time, when it was late into the night. They probably should have been asleep, but instead, Alex was talking about Brian.

"It's just, he gives me the butterflies, like Amy used to," Alex said, laying on his back and staring at the popcorn ceiling of his room.

"So you have a crush on him?" Jay asked, his head tilting to the side, like it always does when he was curious or interested in something. Alex shook his head, "no, I can't have one. I know he swings both ways, but he's my friend. I've known him almost as long as I've known you."

Jay chuckled, leaning back on his elbows, looking to Alex. "That doesn't mean much, dude. If he makes you feel like you felt for Amy, I think that's a pretty big sign," he smiles.

But Alex can't have a crush on Brian, right?

Yeah, the man makes his stomach flip, and pretty, and he makes Alex laugh, and…

Oh.

Alex had a crush on Brian.

Alex had a crush on Brian, and Jay was the one who helped him realize.

He let out a groan, blush blooming from his face as Alex tried to hide himself. Jay laughed at him, patting him on his shoulder. "Maybe you should ask him out. It looks like he feels the same for you too, dude."

"I just found out I liked him, I can't just — ask him out like that!" Alex huffed, voice muffled by his hands.

"Why not? Someone else might ask him out first! Imagine if like, he and Sarah got together," Jay laughed quietly, to which Alex groaned again, muttering a 'shut up' and throwing a pillow on him.

Some days have passed now, and Alex could only focus on the fact that he liked Brian. After shooting, Alex had made a plan to ask Brian — er, well, at least tell him. Maybe explain and hope production of Marble Hornets wouldn't be awkward if Alex explained why he couldn't look at Brian without getting flustered.

Once filming for the day was done, Brian and Tim were talking quietly as Seth put the camera away, and Sarah and Jay talked. It was a pretty full day, with all of the crew around. (Sarah even decided to stay and watch after her scenes were done!)

Alex walked over to Brian and Tim, and their conversation pauses as he got closer. "Hey man! What's up?" Brian asks.

"Could I talk to you for a moment? Uh, privately?" Alex asked, and he felt his blush already starting to rise. Brian looks back to Tim, who simply shrugged.

"Yeah, of course. Lead the way!" Brian smiled, and god, was the man pretty. Alex shook his head. The two walked a bit further from the set — out of earshot of everyone else. "Uh, I'm not in trouble or anything, right? Not firing me or anything?" Brian laughs, putting an easy smile on Alex's face.

"No, no. Nothing of the sort. It's, uh…" Alex paused, as if thinking of the words of his scrambled brain. "It's more… personal, I guess."

Brian's eyebrows tilt in concern. "Is everything okay?"

"Yeah — It's, yeah." Alex took a deep breath. "Brian, I — I like you."

His face must be so red. He can't make eye contact, instead staring down into the grass. The silence washes over them, and god, Alex ruined everything, didn't he?

"Oh my god," Brian giggles after a second, which felt like an eternity, "God, Alex, I like you too. Did you really not pick up any of the signs?"

"You… what?" Alex feels like his brain broke. Brian liked him too? Brian had been leaving signs?

"Yeah man!" Brian grinned. "I've liked you, for like, forever now. You never did anything so I didn't think you liked me back."

Alex laughs at himself. Of course. "Ah, in that case… are you free this weekend..?"

"Alex Kralie, are you asking me out on a date?"

"If you could be inclined to join me, then… yes?"

"I would love to. I'll have to ask Tim, to see if he's okay with it." Huh? "We've talked briefly about it, but I'll have to double check if we can get serious, too."

"What?" Alex asked. "Why — Why do you have to ask Tim?"

Brian's eyebrows now curl in confusion. "Because… me and Tim are dating?"

"What?"

Brian giggles, breath whistling quietly from the gap in his teeth. "Me and Tim have been together for like, two or three years!"

"And you — you didn't tell anyone?" Embarrassment and shame flushes through Alex. He asked out a taken man.

"We… we did, didn't we?" Brian says, seemingly to himself. "I thought we did. Was it not obvious? I've literally gushed about him for hours."

"I just— I thought you guys were friends — Sorry, I should go—" Alex was about to turn around and leave, but Brian took his hand into his own.

"Hey, dude, it's fine. I'm poly, y'know? I have two hands. I like you too, did you just forget that?" Brian giggles lightly. "Please don't run away from me 'cause of this, Alex. I'm like, ninety-nine percent sure Tim's okay with this."

They talked it out, talked to Tim, and everything was okay.

And, well, besides.

Brian does have two hands for a reason.

think partly the reason why marble hornets works so well in comparison to more recent arg's (cough) is bc people are so hellbent on piling on lore after lore, making the finished product absolutely incomprehensible to people who aren't tuned in to several things at once.

when marble hornets wanted to add lore, they'd give you one sentence, a chilling sentence, and then never elaborated on it, because its much scarier when the viewers dont have all of the answers. "he moved cause someone was leaving dead animals on his lawn."

"they'd put people on trial before god out here. the idea was they'd get stretched out, kinda like a rack." horrifying, is never brought up again. is the implication that the operator was one of these awful criminals? is that why he's stretched out? who knows. alex never mentions it again.

Jay is missing for about an hour after he opens a door and steps into blackness. we never find out where he was. we can guess, That’s the fun of it!

Less is more, I truly mean that.

think it also matches the theme of lost memories and not being able to control yourself, because something else is puppeteering you. there is still so much the protagonists DONT know.

i love me some deep lore but sometimes i feel like people overdo it out of insecurity. When you aren't confident in the main story you're trying to tell, of course ur gonna want to add more! its a distraction.

this is constructive criticism, i think anyone who is creative enough to make an ARG are already killing it. ppl might disagree w me thats totally fine !!

but i think horror is even scarier when certain things are left unknown and vague, it enhances what we DO know too.

Themes that weave through season 3 of Alex Rider

Alex's reluctance to kill and maim

When Kyra and Alex take down the guards, both Nile and Julia are perplexed why someone only incapacitated and not killed the guards

Throughout all of Malagosto training we repeatedly see Alex refusing to strike against his fellow students or taking the "kill" shot

He can't kill Jones, even though he has every reason to at this point. Even Kyra points it out to him

He can't kill Nile even though he has no reason to be nice to Nile. Nile has been nothing but cruel to Alex and is more then prepared to kill him

Friendship and teamwork

We see it with how Alex works with Kyra and Tom in Malta

Alex puts Tom first and questions why he doesn't pursue filming with his brother

Alex doesn't understand how the Malagosto students are supposed to work together when they're also expected to strike each other on command

He questions Yassen about his friendship with John and especially Yassen's repeated lesson on not having emotions. We see how Yassen realises that Alex is right at the end and chooses to save Alex yet again from Nile

Jack learning when to leave Alex and trust him and when she needs to step up and help out. She sees Alex for the adult that he has to be in these situations but is also ready to be his guardian when he needs it.

Trust your team and be prepared, that whole speech from Jay to Kyra.

Trust

Not surprising to see this in a show about espionage, but trust is present everywhere

Blunt and Jones have a conversation about trust and double agents at the beginning and it's Jones who convinces Blunt to trust Alex and actually tell him the truth. Jones achieved something that no one would have thought possible, get Alex to trust Blunt, if even a little bit

Alex trusting Jack and defending her to Yassen, even calling out Yassen should trust someone

Tom and Jack being worried over Alex and telling themselves and telling each other to trust Alex even when it seems he may have changed sides.

Alex throughout the season has to choose who to trust, to be disappointed by Scorpia and then finally realising he could have trusted Jones to have his back all along. However, them trusting Alex with the truth is what finally puts them all on even playing field and really makes them into a good team.

Alex also trusted that Yassen was telling him the truth about how to find Scorpia and knowing John, even though Kyra suggested he could have been lying.

John and Alex

John shoots past Yassen to kill the arms dealers leaving a cut and scar on Yassen's face. Alex takes that same shot to kill the power for the transmitter leaving a cut on Nile's face

Alex chooses to go back to take the final blow to Scorpia knowing the risks and understanding it might kill him, but hopefully saving many others. The same John agrees to fake his death on Albert Bridge, knowing there is a chance he might not survive but willing to rescue one more person along the way.

Both Alex and John go undercover for Scorpia. Although very different motivations

John, Alex and Yassen

I am so happy we got to see this relationship in the show. I don't care if this was just fan service, I just loved that we got more of Yassen and Alex together.

Even though just hinted in the show the mentoring between John and Yassen and then Yassen and Alex has always been at the heart of the Rider&Gregorovich relationship

Yassen clearly thinks he has to help Alex and when he finds out Scorpia played him just as much as they did Alex, he knows not to be upset with John and steps up one last time to save his friend's son

Rings/Parallels between the seasons

Yassen takes out the clone at the end of season 1 from a rooftop and then takes out Nile at the end of season 3 as he attempts to take a shot at Alex. The parallel is obvious, but while Yassen chooses to stay hidden in season 1 he shows himself to Alex in season 3. I choose to read this as Yassen showing Alex he understands the importance of friendship.

The department using Alex to Alex choosing to work with them. He even walks out of there with a positive relationship with most of them and a job opportunity. The trust is still new but it's there

Jones and Alex relationship throughout the seasons. She's the only one that saw Alex for who he is from the beginning and is the only one ready to challenge Blunt over Alex

points rare marble hornets request/specification for characters that were originally MH but were sucked into the grubby mitts of the creepypasta fandom (/lh admin loves both versions of the characters) OOOOOOOOO okay so im still on my rewatch of MH, i think im like halfway through the series? i forgot what exact # entry im on but i know its after the hotel thing/when jay is done watching the tapes from before his memory getting all fucked and to finding tim again; the last time i watched MH in its entirety was YEEEEARS ago so my memory is a little murky... along with that this post is less of a proper list of headcannons and more so the admin bouncing around because they cant find an idea to commit to </3 secondary warning that admin has not seen marble hornets in a hot minute and has not finished their rewatch (and likely might need to restart their rewatch </3)

god theres so many ways i can go about this. you passing away before the event of MH, you passing away somewhere along the way... i do know im going to utilize the memory gap stuff... because can you imagine?

youre already gone, but the memory of your passing is wiped away along with some other stuff tim has lost. like can you imagine how fucked up that is?

initially thinks that you just skipped town and cut everyone off, assuming he truly forgets, tries to reach out to you but of course he comes up with nothing

this is of course assuming you dont have any family members or friends that are going to remind him

oh when he does find out hes just absolutely crushed. it doesnt matter how you died; something outside everything, or a death caused by the things going on in the series... fucked stuff either way

i do think, post series, because iirc he does leave he probably makes a little memorial thing wherever he ends up settling; cant really blame him for wanting to go back, and thats even assuming thats where your body is buried

hell this is assuming your body is even found; and youre not just missing

thats another route, i think, that can be fucked up.. like imagine your death actually is a product of say; alex going off the deep end

now as for how that actually makes him feel; theres the grief of course, but i do think he would be angry. for one hes angry at himself for forgetting, but hes also so angry that he wasnt there for you when you needed someone to come and save you. he strikes me as an angry griever, cant really pin point why though....

oooo but imagine you had a certain style or accessory and he incorporates it into his everyday ware... think like an earring or bracelet; he seems like the type to do that, me thinks..

his smoking gets worse, especially in the beginning as he tries to wrap his head around literally everything thats going on; probably a few sleepless nights in there too..

this is all over the place given admins limited knowledge, but also theres so many ways to go about this... and i think thats nice since it adds variety... you know?

There’s also several points in Season One of MH where Jay points out either before or after a video with no audio that it’s possible that rather than being corrupted, Alex took the audio out himself.

Which is an interesting thought paired with the fact that Alex was going to burn the tapes and never actually planned on giving them to anyone until Jay asked. Did he do that for his own benefit for whenever he rewatched the tapes? Was there something he really didn’t like in the audio? Did Alex ever think about giving someone the tapes to prove he was haunted and wasn’t just having stress hallucinations, and Jay’s request just happened to make him finally give in?

Might be nothing but usually when Jay points something out, it’s deliberate.

(before I start, placing this disclaimer here at the top since I have friends who don't frequent mcyt and might get confused, but when I talk abt this au I'm specifically talking abt the characters, not the content creators themselves. Anyway)

SO IM GONNA GO AHEAD AND SHARE WHOSE WHO FIRST

Jay- Grian, it made the most sense in my head, but I actually flip flopped on this so many times bc he also works so well as Tim or Alex, but at some point I went "wait it's an au, we can see how the story changes with Grian as the protag" so Grian's the protag now

Tim/Masky- Scar, I'm a transparent desert duo enjoyer and had a similar flip flop with him as I did Grian bc he'd also work as Jay but I was halfway through that drawing and had a similar thought process to the one i had abt Grian

Brian/Hoodie- Jimmy, I wanted to keep the cast focused to life series and evo members and he made the most sense to me lore wise, especially with the idea that in this au he was one of the ones with the earliest exposure to The Watcher (bc I love Canary Curse symbolism)

Alex- This one was the toughest choice bc no matter what a fav is going to loose it. Good thing this based on the Life Series! As much as I Love the idea of Joel and Lizzie as Alex and Amy, I actually went with Martyn. Again, the character is pretty involved with the Watcher Lore so it made the most sense as the character that is arguably most effected by it. (Although for a brief moment I considered Mumbo Jumbo bc,,, how fucking funny would that be)

Jessica- Jessica's gotta be Pearl right? It makes the most sense for it to be Pearl, I don't even need reasoning for this it makes sense

Amy- So who's Amy then? Scott actually! He's not Martyn's boyfriend in this, he's just a really good friend of his who was super involved in the production. Also like in mh, he's Pearl's roommate.

Sarah- Ren. Can't have a life series au featuring desert duo and not have some renchanting. Who else would be one of the leading actors in Martyn's short film?

Seth- Big B, again Evo connection made sense to me, and depending on your own personal theory on who the third person running the totheark account is, both Big B and Ren have interesting implications, even if both their rolls are p minor in this au

With the cast out of the way other questions !!!

It's set in a kind of nebulous time frame that's probably a little closer to present day, but it does still start with a student film project. When asked Why Martyn chose to use tapes he says something about wanting a more authentic feel to the film but in reality he just thought using tapes was a cool idea and doesn't want to admit that it's kind of impractical now.

In this au Scar doesn't smoke, but instead I like the headcannon that he just has boxes of candy/bubblegum cigarettes on him at all times. He'll pull one out, pause, and offer one to someone and when they say no he's just like "Okay, your loss" and watch as they get all confused when he starts unwrapping it asdfghkgkdjhfjsh

Is Grian gay in this au? Whose to say. (Real answer tho, I'm a notorious Jam shipper and while I'm not an active shipper when it comes to hermitcraft or the life series, I don't really mind it so the relationship is left kind of ambiguous)

I wanna randomly ramble about my main au regarding ships real quick.

TRIGGER WARNING, PLEASE NOTE THAT I MENTION THINGS LIKE ABUSE, RAPE, ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE!! Please don't read if these things upset you! I want everyone to be safe, so if any of this is triggering, this is to tell you to scroll by!

I'm a multishipper, I've stated this on my blog before, I ship practically everything if I see it a certain way. But lore wise when it comes to my blog, relationships are specific. I might post a relationship chart one day, but basically, I have main ships, and then I have like a billion little side ships I enjoy but they wont make a big appearance on this blog unless they're random doodles unrelated to the lore, or part of a ramble or reblog. Im gonna list examples of each so people know what to expect in future posts where some of these ships are featured. If you want to unfollow me for some of these, I'm not stopping you, I'd highly encourage doing so if any of these ships make you uncomfortable, because I don't want anyone to stay on my blog if it brings discomfort.

Several main ships I have that'll be featured perhaps the most are ones like Jeff x Ben, which if not already obvious is the main relationship that'll be focused on. Another is Tim x Toby, they're both adults in my au, I do not support pedophilia whatsoever and if need be I have aged up characters to avoid this. Lastly, I have Liu x Eyeless Jack. I honestly dont know why I started shipping it but its really cute to me and it stuck and they're very dear to me. These three are perhaps the ships that'll be featured the most, but I'm having a brain fart like always and I'm already forgetting my own ships-😭

These are ships that'll be in the blog as well but they aren't as big and focused on. A example to start off with is Jane x Clockwork. I know, canonly, Jane is married to Mary, and I love that, but this is my own personal au so things are different, although in my heart Jane and Mary are definitely on top, and I might do doodles of them from time to time. Another example is Nina x everyone. No, not literally. She just has crushes that come and go ALL the time, and she flirts with everyone, so often to where no one questions it anymore. She had a Jeff arc and got over him and now she's living her life how SHE wants to. A few more include Nurse Ann x Judge Angels, Hobo Heart x Cody/X-Virus, Lost Silver x Glitchy Red, Jason the Toymaker x The Puppeteer, and Kate x Rogue. I have many more, but for now, I'm gonna explain the ones already listed since a few might seem really random. For Angels and Ann, Im just gonna admit, I'm a sucker for enemies to lovers or people who act like they hate each other but they secretly love each other deep down. For Hobo and Cody, in my au, they're both huge loners, and we're paired in a mission once. It was very awkward but the more they talked the more they realized they had a lot in common. I love them. Theres more lore to the reason I've paired Silver and Red together, but to sum it up, Silver had a massive crush on Ben, but Ben has his eyes set on Jeff and didn't return the feelings, and I didn't want Silver to be sad and alone his whole life, plus, they're dynamic is adorable. Sad pessimistic person x person who has seen whats under the sadness and admires them anyways. For Jason and Puppeteer, i saw a cosplay with them on tiktok and I couldn't help myself, I caved immediately. And lastly for Kate and Rogue I realized their characters have several things in common and I realized they'd probably get along pretty well.

Now, for side ships, I won't give an explanation, this ramble is already longer than planned. Im just gonna throw them out there with no context. EJ x Ben, Ben x Lost Silver, Nina x Kate, Tim x Brian, Tim x Jay, Jay x Alex(Yes some other marble hornet characters may be featured in the blog or in doodles), Jessica x Amy, Toby x EJ, Liu x Ben, and many MANY more, too many to state here.

Now that its out there, I wanna real quick talk about something I've reblogged a few days ago. Just because they're bad people who have done bad things, it doesn't mean they dont deserve love or happiness. Plus, the majority of these creeps were people who were wronged time and time again until they were pushed over the edge, it probably definitely wasn't something they had planned out since they were like 3. Now, despite this, some of them definitely aren't the best lovers to have, like Jeff, because again, these are murders and deranged killers. This is a super dark confession but theres A LOT of lore between Ben and Jeff in my au where things were AWFUL for them because Jeff couldn't get a grip on himself for the longest time. He's not like that anymore, and things are MUCH better for the both of them, but they definitely had an era in their relationship where things were beyond toxic. Beyond toxic as in Jeff was incredibly abusive, physically and mentally, and had a MAJOR alcohol addiction, and even proceeded to get Ben addicted to drugs at some point, sometimes going as far as raping him when he did not give consent. I won't give away too many details, but I will say, again, this is in the past and they've both healed over their traumas and managed to get through it together, and are in a much better state(A lot of breaking up and getting back together happened throughout this 'toxic era' though, and even after healing, theres still minor problems that I will not elaborate, they will be found out throughout the blog and maybe hints in some doodles.) But this is a good example of what a realistic relationship in this fandom with Jeff might look like. But just because people are deranged and definitely not mentally stable, it doesn't mean they can't try to change, and it definitely doesn't mean they dont deserve love unless they're as bad as Jeff was but with no intentions to change.

Im always happy to further explain any of this, but I will not tolerate harassment for the things I like. But anyways yeah thats my whole thing on ships im gonna go cry over my broken apple pencil now

GODDDD I LOVE THE VAMPIRE ALEX STORY

I wanna know how he bites them bitches (gay as hell)

ok so, im kinda using the sims4 vampire logic here, where if alex just needs a little snack he drinks from the wrist, but when he's having a full meal he would drink from the neck.

i feel like even though alex and brian were such close friends in college, brian would get a bit squeamish about the blood. he would try to act unbothered, but it hurt, and seeing alex with some pinkened drool dripping out of the corner of his mouth is both too unnerving and too attractive. brian would prefer alex bite his neck during a make out session, because at least that doesn't involve him drawing blood for over five minutes straight. so alex typically just has snacks from brian's wrist. eventually he does get over some of his discomfort, and alex gets a nice little meal from his neck.

jay doesn't mind blood at all. he's happy to let alex drink from his neck, except for the fact that yk, hes kinda skinny lanky and anemic, and after alex takes those big drinks from his neck jay looks close to passing out. they end up needing to just have alex drink from his wrist, which jay soon comes to enjoy a lot more because it means he can see alex's face while he's feeding. he likes to watch how into it alex gets, how he wraps his hands around jay's arm to hold him still, eyelids fluttering and face slowly gaining some color again. jay definitely would take on a very knowledge hungry researcher role here, he helps alex a lot with finding out information on vampires, and he and brian sort of lead the hunt for knowledge on the local vampire that turned alex, as well as any other's that are in their area.

lastly, tim. so as previously stated, tim is a werewolf. the werewolf is sort of like his masky side in this case. he's well aware of being a werewolf, and so is his family, as he's been one his whole life. none of the other's know however, initially because brian was his only friend and he didn't want to scare him off, but now because as he's gotten closer with jay and alex, he doesn't want to infringe on alex's being a vampire. he's worried that could drive them apart and ruin the friend group. tim heals very fast though, and can handle a lot more blood being taken from him than the others, which he thinks might be suspicious, so he holds off on letting alex drink from him for a whileee.

however, it soon becomes necessary for alex to feed from tim, because with jay unable to handle giving alex the large meals, and brian currently too squeamish to, alex is getting weaker. he asks for snacks more and more frequently, and it becomes clear that he's just not getting enough. so tim finally offers. tim has a low pain tolerance, and the first three times alex tries to latch onto his neck, tim jerks away in pain. their solution to that is a bit extreme, but it involves tim crawling into alex's lap and grabbing onto his shoulders, burying his face in the crook of alex's neck, whimpering in pain, fur all fluffed up, maybe biting into the fabric of alex's shirt while he tries to keep his little whines muffled. meanwhile, alex clamps onto tim's neck, teeth puncturing the skin sort of like a can opener, and then sucking and licking up the blood that spills from those holes. tim is intoxicatingly delicious, the werewolf in him flavoring the blood in a way alex has never experienced. alex feels more alert than ever, but also almost loopy, drunk on that blood lust. tim finds it painful, but it will be a pain he will grow to love.

Marble Hornets - Amsterdam: Thought Process

so I already told everyone that amsterdam is my favorite song but I also chose this song because the lyrics are very appealing to tim's situation

When I listened to this song I personally thing it's about people with depression or people that disappoint in their way of life

in these frames I portrayed tim's past when he was just a child and that his mom, Janet, had to admit him to hospital because of his mental illness reason. I like to think tim originally had this symptoms and operator just making it worst later when tim starting seeing it (I dont think there's no clear detail if tim get this symptom because of it or not but it clearly affect tim later on)

these 2 frames I purposely made it to seem like a 2 different side of tim. the first is when tim has grew up. He received proper medication and therapy later on. He thought that he's getting better but the operator just won't let him go. as you can see in second pic (I refer the operator as tinman, when I heard of tinman word I thought of these words: emotionless, unmovable, cruel)

I represent the woods as the more he gets involved in this story, the lesser chance he has of getting out of this alive or chance of going back to normal

the black backgrounds part is to show both amy and alex's fates. the alex one means that even if alex tried to hide/run away from the operator or (paper getting torn apart) the operator still there and won't stop haunting him (paper pieces got taped back and blood part refer to when alex decided to kill (or lie to) his friends so that "the operator sickness" won't spread further)

the sea part match with lyric part "congratulation, you are all alone" in totheark font (hoody mocking alex). even thought I barely show hoody in any frames in comic, i tried to show his perspective to situation by using totheark fonts in it

I like to play with colors contrasting each others

I interpret the lyrics "rain wont fall on us, sun won't shine on us" as, not everyone got what they want or have the ending they decided for. Hoody tried very hard to fix things (even if some of it is not really pleasant way of helping) that he gave up brian persona, he still died. I also interpret the sun part as even if it seems like thing might actually getting better or think that the story might actually end in a good way. Jay is still died. even if Jay finally start to get help like Tim wanted, he still died

the "I wouldn't have it any other way" meant that even if tim tried to tell alex that he can help him, alex still believe in his own belief. so it leave tim no other choice

"your time will come" part I used the same pattern as jay's frame. because it's jay that wanted to help jessica but now that jay died now tim got to continue what jay left

I used skully symbol because its totheark caption matched with tim's situation like, "so much more than time has been taken" pretty much sum up it all and implying that skully is still out there

I forgot to write in image but the second frame where tim driving out of Alabama you can see that the woods at first is very thick then it started to fade away

yeah the camera part I had to trace from sony manual book. and about jay's jacket, after jay gone tim probably still had his stuff? don't know what he gonna do with it but I dont think he gonna threw them away

"cause these walls they're crashing down" this part I interpret as the whole "marble hornets" thing is no longer relevant anymore
