𝓲𝓶𝓪𝓰𝓲𝓷𝓮 - first glance

𝔀𝓪𝓻𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼 - none

𝓭𝓮𝓼𝓬𝓻𝓲𝓹𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 - melody is the daughter of fbi's bau unit chief aaron hotchner, and this is when she first meets the rest of his team but most importantly, the youngest member of the team, the resident genius.

𝓪𝓾𝓽𝓱𝓸𝓻'𝓼 𝓷𝓸𝓽𝓮 - i've already written this before as an austin butler one-shot and shane filan and decided to do another one for the bau team but with spencer specifically.

melody hotchner couldn't take her eyes off him. she wasn't supposed to even be with her dad at the unit's headquarter's today, ssa derek morgan knew that but, derek just couldn't let his boss' daughter go any longer without meeting the lovely resident genius that was the exact same age as his unit chief's daughter and was the one that derek wanted melody to meet because he just "knew" that they belonged together and just looked as though they'd be the perfect couple.

melody and the bau, who the rest of them she didn't know, only knowing david rossi and derek morgan, had yet to meet because both the team and melody were always busy, go figure, whenever anyone, whether it was derek, david or even aaron himself tried to get the rest of his team and young girl to meet. it wasn't because the team and melody didn't want to meet, of course they did, they were just always having clashes with cases and melody's college classes that got in the way of them meeting, until this very day that melody wasn't at college and derek forcefully grabbed melody from her spot on the couch in her father's office. losing his mind, that all of the bau weren't doing anything special but paperwork but most importantly, spencer, would finally be in the office the same day that melody was as he urged for the girl who he called "little hotch" to meet who derek called "pretty boy". oh, and it's also worth mentioning that the entire bau team had made a bet as to who in the team out of aaron, derek and david would get melody to be introduced to spencer and the rest of the team and win $50 from the other two who lost the bet and, derek did. which, of course, made him happy, because it also gave him some bragging rights if the two, melody and spencer, did ever start dating. so, he was even more happier, derek, when melody didn't argue with being semi-forcefully grabbed by her wrist and humiliatingly pulled through the bau unit's floor until the two were meters from the pretty boy himself.

"...derek, what on earth are you doing? i'm not supposed to leave my dad's off--"

"--morgan, hey, didn't realise you were still working on your paperwork today...''

"reid...umm, i...i, there's someone that i want for you to meet. i...i'm aware this is bad timing since you're supposed to be finishing up paperwork but, umm, this is hotch's daughter, melody. i know that hotch, rossi and i, even, have been trying to get the rest of the team to meet melody but, since you two especially always seemed to have clashes in your schedules that meant that whenever melody was here, you were either at home or still finishing up a case but, now, everyone's finally all here at the same time. so...once again, this...this is melody hotchner, spencer!" derek shouldn't have looked so excited that he had won $50 and bragging rights but, he did and it was sort of embarrassing for both melody and spencer but, it was still funny

melody shyly stepped out from behind derek and spencer couldn't help the way he just stared at her in amazing. this was his unit chief's daughter? the melody hotchner? he couldn't believe that he was finally meeting the girl that was always talked about by hotch, rossi and morgan. it was completely silent between the two before spencer shyly spoke up with a small smile on his lips.

"...hi...hello...hi...mel...melody, i..i'm spencer but you-you probably already knew that..." spencer nervously giggled as he tried to keep his hands from sweating considering he was moments from going back in to write the rest of the reports he had to write up

"...hey spencer, yes i am melody and yes, i do know already that your name is spencer *giggles*. it's so very nice to finally meet you after always either just missing you completely or you just not being in here at the same time or one of us coming in whilst the other one was leaving. i've truly heard so many good things about you and the rest of your team so, i full trust that my dad made an amazing decision by keeping you guys as his team..." melody smiled brightly as spencer felt his cheeks go red and his heart rate get quicker when derek took that as his cue to just straight up leave

"...thanks, melody. i know i shouldn't but, speaking for myself and the rest of the team, we are beyond grateful that we were given this chance to be under your father's wonderful supervision and guidance,"spencer smiled as he slowly got more confident throughout the conversation, melody too smiled

the longer the two talked, the more comfortable they both became with one another. the rest of the team and hotch walked in to the bullpen to see the one thing they had all wished for (well, hotch and ross that is), they couldn't hide their pride and smiles for derek for getting it to finally happen. hotch chuckled quietly as he watched with his arms crossed at his daughter and the doctor, who former senior supervisory special agent jason gideon personally vetted to have reid join the team at the young age of twenty-two. as the two started talking and asking each other questions as if the both of them hadn't already been fed information about each other before this moment.

the two giggled and smiled as they continued to find out more interesting stuff about one another as if spencer wasn't supposed to be returning back to his paperwork for the case they finished two days ago. time was just non-existant when they were together, they could talk for hours upon hours and not realise that they had been talking to each other for hours until checking the time on the clock or having to be jokingly told off by hotch or morgan that spencer was meant to be finishing his paperwork, not blabbering and wasting time but, because it was aaron's daughter and spencer, they'd let it slide.

by the time the bau team had finished all the paperwork and another ten months of cases, it was obvious that spencer and melody had grown closer and could be very well labelled as a romantic couple. for ages, it was rumoured for a few months that they were dating but, it wasn't until a very specific case that caused spencer to be kidnapped and drugged and the way they saw how melody reacted when she saw spencer in the hospital for the first time, it became obvious to everyone and the two decided "fuck it" and announced it to the rest of their team, excluding hotch who obviously already knew and never even needed convincing to approve, that they were dating and were finally ready to label their relationship as a romantic one and not a platonic one.

and it was all because of that first glance they had... and derek morgan too.

WIP Whenever!

Good evening,

I was tagged by @olath124 and @katsigian to report on recent happenings.

Solo Val, and Durian creates a flowchart

Recently I've begun to delineate the Solo!Val AU from the Netrunner!Val AU. Though they share the same face, they're very different people, the result of varying life experiences.

I even created a flowchart. What other person have you seen is so terminally work-brained that they make flowcharts for their OCs?

These potential timelines have different effects.

The timelines that result in Val and Mel breaking up tend to lead to a short-term Val x Judy relationship that eventually disintegrates as they want different things (Val can't leave the city because of her father and sister, but Judy strongly wants to leave the city, mostly because of the situation around Evelyn). I

Interestingly, the fallout of the Val x Judy arc tends to end with Val eventually getting together with either Chet Reid or Trey.

The different versions of Val have different personalities.

Netrunner!Val

Netrunner!Val is a lot softer as a person. That doesn't mean she's less dangerous, just less inclined towards violence, more agreeable etc. She's more willing to make friends.

In terms of combat style, Netrunner!Val of course uses quickhacks as her primary weapon. As a backup, she carries a pistol. Her combat style can be described as 'combat netrunner,' she doesn't rely on stealth, and she rarely attacks her enemies through deep diving into the NET, almost always acting directly.

Netrunner!Val trusts chrome more, but is wary of corporate influences. She only trusts certain ripperdocs (like Vik) and is very strict about personal net security. Her acquisition of a rare, military grade cyberdeck is probably the most dangerous piece of cyberware she has. She also has a range of defensive and support cyberware to enhance survivability and combat performance.

Solo!Val

Solo!Val is hardened as a person. This has led to Val tending towards being harder to get along with, or get to know, if you don't have a history with her already. She's more inclined to hold grudges and she's more inclined to accept violence as a reasonable solution.

Solo!Val is also very stubborn, leading to a very tense relationship with Susy Q, if Solo!Val heads down the path where she continues to work with the Mox, because she agrees strongly with Judy about the role of the Mox in Night City.

In terms of Solo!Val's combat style, Solo!Val is an assassin. She relies on stealth, underhanded tactics, and fear as her key strategies. Relying on her speed and agility, she uses parkour to get into difficult to reach places, and also uses her Optical Camo and monowire. Where possible, she aims to get in undetected, eliminate her objective or acquire the target, and exfiltrate without anybody even noticing until it's too late.

Solo!Val runs light on chrome. Aside from the usual implants, like a weapon grip, optical implants and a personal link (including the neck shard slots), she only has subdermal armour, the optical camo and monowire. Val's strength, agility and speed are her own, and her lack of cyberware reflects a distrust of cyberware, partly due to her mother's poor health after years of Solo work while heavily chromed.

Things that they share are their strong affinity towards their families, their strong sense of loyalty, their strong belief in justice, even if their ways of getting justice may not be particularly and their determination.

Other Cyberpunk Stuff

Aside from Val's gym pics (and sick gains), I have plans for one more themed set this week. This set was going to be a Solo!Val x Melanie story to introduce a new possible storyline if I ever want to explore that, but when switching Val's body mod, I seem to have broken Melanie's NPV file somehow. I'm investigating that and I'll probably work on it this weekend.

Hopefully, I finally get to building Estella Ocampo-Gonzalez as an NPV. Estella is Val's sister. In the Solo!Val timelines, Estella becomes a netrunner, forming a family duo with Val.

I will be working on my NPVs this weekend, it's the only real time I have to spend on these projects at the moment.

Durian Writes Original Fiction: Queen of the Sky and Rockfall

As many of those who have followed my ramblings on other socials would know, I've got a few original fiction projects, and my real obsession has been Queen of the Sky, set in the Airfleet Universe, my own original universe where airships rule the sky, Earth orbits a smaller star, and the year has 10 months and 304 days (totally not stolen from the Roman calendar lol).

I'm continuing to work through these, and waiting on OFFICIAL CHARACTER ART of some of the key characters of QOTS. Rather than starting with the protagonist, Princess Elysia, I've got the Chancellor of Atlantia (another country) coming out first. Rosalind Myers fans will likely be fans of Chancellor Elizabeth Caldwell.

When I'm done writing QOTS and I finally publish it, I'm moving onto a separate story called Rockfall: Darkness Over the Pacific, which features a post-apocalyptic Earth reminiscent of Ace Combat after Ulysses struck, and a cold war between two superpowers.

Betty Reid Soskin, the oldest National Park Service ranger

She was first assigned to the Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historical Park in Richmond, California the age of 84 and retired in 2022 at the age of 100. Sixteen years. And they said she didn’t play about her position. Her mom and her grandma both lived to their centenarian years as well. A lot of life to live. I know Ms. Betty is looking forward to the next thing in the next chapter in her life.

Here’s a excerpt from her PBS interview in 2022:

Geoff Bennett: “You have said that you have lived lots and lots of lives. You grew up in a [Louisiana] Creole Black family in Oakland, California. You later worked as a file clerk at a segregated union shop. You and your late husband founded one of the first Black-owned record shops, which was in existence for nearly 75 years. You're also a mother to four children. You are a songwriter. You're active in politics throughout your entire life. How has all of that shaped you?”

Betty Reid Soskin: “I have never known how that happened. I know that had I grown up knowing what was ahead. I would never have been able to do it. But I grew up with a sense of surprise. And I also felt that I was jumping out of bed every morning, wondering what was life going to be like? I still am. I'm still jumping out of bed trying to figure out what life is like.”

SN: In the fourth photo above, Ms. Betty is in the middle with her sisters, Lottie and Marjorie Charbonnet. In the fifth photo, Ms. Betty is pictured with her late husband Mel and their kids: Rick Reid, Bob Reid, David Reid and Dorian Reid.

As Brittany reached behind her to open the door to her apartment, Spencer didn't hesitate to follow her inside, their bodies pressed together.

Once inside, Brittany guided them to her couch. They kissed incessantly, their lips seeking each other with a fervor that bordered on desperation.

Spencer's hands found their way to her waist, slipping beneath her shirt to caress the smooth skin. The sensation of his touch sent shivers down her spine, eliciting a soft moan from her lips.

With a gentle push, Brittany guided Spencer to sit on the couch, straddling him as she settled into his lap.

Taking a moment to stand up, she swiftly discarded her underwear, followed by her skirt and blouse. As she undid her bra, Spencer shed his suit jacket and tie, his eyes never leaving her form.

The last time he had seen her like this was in Las Vegas, her figure accentuated by a bathing suit. Now, she stood before him, radiant and perfect, her curves an intoxicating sight.

Rejoining him, she resumed her position astride him, her fingers deftly undoing his shirt buttons as she peppered his neck with kisses.

Brittany's voice broke the silence, her tone tentative yet inviting. "Do you want to take a shower?"

Spencer's gaze met hers. Without a word, he nodded.

Hand in hand, they stepped into the bathroom, the warmth of the steam surrounding them as they stood beneath the spray of water.

The sound of the rushing water drowned out any lingering doubts or inhibitions as they moved together, their bodies pressed close.

In that moment, there were no barriers between them, no secrets or pretenses. They were simply two souls, stripped bare.

They laid in the comfort of her bed, their bodies still tingling from the shared intimacy. With the soft glow of the moon casting shadows across the room, they gazed into each other's eyes.

Brittany laid on her side as he reclined on his back, facing her. Spencer's eyes traced the contours of her face, memorizing every curve and line.

Brittany's voice broke the silence, soft yet tinged with a hint of hesitation. "Spencer," she began, "about earlier... about us... I just... I need to know… where we stand."

"You don't have to be afraid," she whispered, her voice filled with a quiet strength. "Not with me."

Spencer's gaze softened at her words, a flicker of warmth igniting within his chest. "I want to believe that," he confessed, his voice raw with emotion. "But it's hard... letting someone in, trusting that.. it will work out."

Brittany nodded in understanding, her heart aching at the vulnerability in his voice. "I know," she whispered, her fingers threading through his hair. "But am I… maybe… worth the risk?"

“Yeah.. I think you might be.”

Brittany moved around her kitchen, the soft morning light filtering through the windows as she hummed along to the tune playing on the radio. She glanced over at Spencer, who sat at the table, his gaze lingering on her with a warm affection that made her heart flutter.

With a gentle smile, she set about preparing breakfast, the comforting routine of cooking helping to settle the slight nerves that fluttered in her stomach.

As they ate breakfast together, the morning sun cast a golden glow across the room.

But their moment of tranquility was abruptly interrupted by the sudden entrance of Lawrence.

His eyes widened in surprise as he spotted Spencer, a hint of awkwardness coloring his expression. Clearing his throat, he awkwardly broached the subject, his words stumbling out in a rush of uncertainty.

"Oh wow Spencer is here!" Lawrence began, his tone laced with an uneasy curiosity. "What about the other guy? Uh… what’s his name?"

She exchanged a brief glance with Spencer.

"Gary?" Lawrence continued, his words hanging in the air with an uncomfortable weight. "You slept with him to get over Spencer, didn't you? Sorry… I probably shouldn't be saying this..."

Before Brittany could respond, Lawrence's demeanor shifted, his tone suddenly taking on a more lighthearted air as he turned his attention to Spencer.

"So, are you guys like, together now?" Lawrence asked, a mischievous twinkle in his eye.

Spencer's lips quirked into a wry smile as he glanced at Brittany.

"Yes," Brittany replied simply, her voice firm with conviction.

Lawrence's face lit up with genuine happiness, his earlier awkwardness melting away as he congratulated them with genuine warmth.

"Oh my god, I'm so happy for you guys!" Lawrence exclaimed, his excitement palpable. "And so happy I won!"

Brittany furrowed her brow in confusion. "Won what?"

"Me and Maya took a bet on how long it would take for you guys to finally do something about this… chemistry," Lawrence explained, his grin widening. "Looks like I won!"

Brittany rolled her eyes at Lawrence's antics, but there was a hint of fondness in her exasperation.

"My love life is not some game, Lawrence," Brittany chided gently, though there was a playful glint in her eye.

"Yes it is! And it's fascinating, Brittany," Lawrence replied with a playful smirk. "I wonder what's gonna happen next? Marriage? Divorce? Pregnancy? Swingers? Throuple?" his gaze shifted towards Spencer, a hint of flirtation in his eyes.

"No," Brittany replied firmly, her tone leaving no room for argument.

Lawrence shrugged, unfazed by her response. "What a shame. Anyway, I'm gonna leave you lovebirds to it."

"I'm sorry for him," Brittany murmured, her gaze lingering on the doorway through which Lawrence had just departed.

Spencer's eyes met hers, his expression filled with understanding.

"It's fine," he assured her, his voice soft with affection.

"He loves… trying to get it with straight men," Brittany added with a small, wry smile.

Spencer chuckled softly, a warmth spreading through his chest at her words.

"Or maybe I shouldn't assume..." Brittany trailed off, her gaze lingering on Spencer with a mixture of uncertainty and affection.

Spencer's smile widened into a grin.

"Maybe not," he replied, his tone teasing yet tender.

Spencer couldn't help but feel a twinge of curiosity at Lawrence's remark, prompting him to ask a question that had been lingering in his mind.

"Did you actually sleep with Gary to get over me?" Spencer inquired, his tone laced with a mixture of apprehension and curiosity.

Brittany met Spencer's gaze with a playful yet enigmatic smile, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

"Maybe..."

Suddenly, the familiar strains of "Linger" by The Cranberries filled the room, causing Brittany to pause mid-motion, a hint of exasperation flickering across her features.

"Oh my god, this song is haunting me," she murmurs, her voice tinged with a hint of frustration.

Spencer raises an eyebrow, curious about her sudden change in demeanor. "What do you mean?" he asks, his interest piqued.

Brittany lets out a sigh, her gaze fixed on the radio as if searching for answers in the lyrics. "I listened to this song on repeat the morning before I met you," she explains, her tone reflective. "Then it played at the wedding when we danced, and yesterday at the party. It's like a sign or something, and honestly, it's starting to annoy me."

The Bill is set in the fictional Sun Hill which makes up part of the also fictional Borough Of Canley. Amanda Prosser - acting Superintendent whilst Adam took time off following the death of his family in an RTA. Upset a bereaved father who then took her hostage at gunpoint and caused a siege at Sun Hill (second live episode)

Rowanne Morell - DI/DCI who came in to investigate a case and then came in as cover for Neil whilst he took some time off after his father in law's death/end of his marriage.

Andrew Ross - DCI if I remember rightly he was part of MIT and kept coming over for murders - the Serial Killer/Des's Fire bombing/Cathy's murders etc.

Frank Keane - DCI from MIT. Rubbed everyone up the wrong way and thought the sun shone out of his daughter - Emma's - arse.

Karen Lacy - stuck up DI from SO15 who immediately alienated most of Sun Hill after Emma's death by refusing to let her friends in uniform help and would only let them man a cordon and then told Jack that CID could only help if EVERYTHING was ran through her and came back to her and her alone.

Tom Baker - TREV which was a fan coined term that stands for Totally Reliable Extra Veteran'. Tom was an outstanding back up CID member for over a thousand episodes. He's even in the Guiness Book Of World Records for it.

Terry Knowles - Terry was a Special Constable who idolised Des and wanted to be like him. He tried to copy how he'd seen him pick up a woman and flirted at a blonde in a convertible. Unfortunately it all went wrong when she stabbed him in the neck and severed his jugular and he died, leaving a 2 year old son fatherless.

Doug Wright - husband of Sgt Nikki Wright. Nikki transferred to Sun Hill when she got fed up of the confusion over two Sgt Wright's and then having to work opposing shifts. He's based at Sun Hill but they cross over to police a football match. Sadly Doug ends up getting stabbed and they realise there's a Cop Killer on the loose after he taunts them and goes on to murder new recruit Billy Rowan on his very first day.

Mark Rollin - Lance Powell's Boyfriend/Fiance/Civil Partner/Husband. Mark is a Sgt in CO19 and keeps his sexuality hidden to avoid the banter and bullying. He goes to pieces after shooting dead Jeff Clarke and he and Lance separate - only for Lance to go out drinking to try cheer himself up and be murdered.

Steve Hodges - an irritating little man who was the Detective Superintendent at CIB at the time that Claire Stanton was undercover trying to get information to prove that Don Beech was corrupt. He expected Claire to pull evidence out her arse and moaned constantly.

Rachel Kitson - Crime Scene Photographer who murdered old school friend turned Super Model Cindy Statham. She got away with it and someone else was accused and locked up...but then Jo went back and looked at the footage again as she had a niggling feeling. Rachel realised she was on to her and took her hostage at gunpoint. It was Stuart getting suspicious when he received a text calling him 'hun' and realising that something was very wrong that saved her life with seconds to go.

Important Reoccurring Characters (Civilians):

Rod Jessop - June's second husband after Jim. He is a headteacher and a good man who has 2 children of his own. At first June isn't too sure as she thinks he's a little too keen but she warms to him and they fall in love and take early retirement together.

Irene Radford - Mother of Karl, Wayne and David Radford, a large crime family with a history going back decades with Gina. She takes Gina hostage at one point and she and David are literally seconds from killing Smithy and Kerry at another point!

Louise Larson - Wife of Pete Larson. Unhappily married but settled until she met Smithy. Feisty, sarcastic and full of one liners, she kept him on his toes and they wanted to leave after she agreed to give evidence (Pete was arrested after almost murdering Smithy. I'm sensing a theme here).

Abi Nixon - The cause of Sam shrieking "MY DAUGHTER!!!!!" Had a fling with Matt Boyden - as you do. Then ended up pregnant and engaged to Hugh Wallis - a profiler - who manipulated Abi into it as revenge. He forced Sam to think her daughter was a victim of the Serial Killer. She keeps the baby and her relationship with her mother improves.

Cindy Hunter - Phil Hunter's wife who sees all he does on the side and - usually forgives him, even when a major criminal demands he be allowed to sleep with Cindy. Gregory doesn't force her to sleep with him but does take degrading pictures of her to wind Phil up. She still forgives him... but she can't get past finding out he has a daughter with another major criminals wife when they are trying for a baby of their own and they finally split.

Jenny Delaney - The girlfriend of George Garfield at first, Jenny is the nurse who looks after Dave Quinnan when he is attacked and left for dead in a youth club. She and Dave fall in love and have an affair which ends up in George leaving Sun Hill. They marry but do not get their happily ever after as Dave and Polly grow closer... and closer...

Kristen Shaw - Drug dealer who Zain goes undercover to catch and he ends up falling for her. She accidentally murders Honey by shooting her when the gun goes off in a struggle (Honey was trying to get Zain to do the right thing and arrest her with him). Zain reluctantly puts Honey's body in the water and they try to escape but in the end he can't go through with it and refuses to get on the boat with her to escape. He removed the bullets from her gun and so both end up arrested.

James Tennant - The father of Amy Tennant. This storyline goes on forever for over a year and Neil and James get close and become good friends through it before Amy is found.

Scott Burnett - Scott is the husband of a woman who is found murdered. At first his best friend is charged with it and as his FLO, Honey helps support him through it. They fall in love and in a whirlwind romance they get married.... only for Honey to realise that Scott actually murdered his first wife!

Laura Meadows - Jack's long suffering wife who put up with a lot, including affairs. It comes to a head when Jack - in full midlife crisis mode - thinks he's in love with Debbie McAllister and wants to support her and her new baby. Debbie thinks of him mostly as a father figure and is horrified when he finally puts the moves on.

Lilian Rickman - Cass' mum is devastated when her daughter is killed by the Sun Hill Serial Killer. She travels down and bonds with the team and later invites them to the funeral in Liverpool which some travel up to and then have to go straight on shift once they get back to London. She later returns to tie up the sale of Cass' flat and she and Tony grow closer and end up sleeping together.

Marie Graham/Carver - The bereaved mother whos daughter killed herself after being accused of sleeping with underage students. She's an alcoholic who seemed to understand Jim and all his problems... and then started to abuse him 2 days after their marriage. (he should have known it was a bad omen when he and June almost kissed the day of the wedding when trapped with Polly and Tony!)He is accused of abusing her before he ends up in hospital (Gabriel hit him over the back of the head with a vodka bottle - long story) and he cracks under accusations and shows his many wounds. He leaves Marie and goes on to recover and get back together with June... only for Marie to turn up on THEIR wedding day and cause a scene at the reception and then fall down the stairs and knock herself out. Jim, with a sprained ankle, ends up going into hospital too!

Pauline Smith - Smithy's mum seen in Killer On The Run. His father was an abusive drunk who used to knock her and Smithy around until Smithy was old enough to go out with his friends. Smithy has little to do with his unnamed father and next to no contact. She adores her son and is very proud of him. They are close and Smithy has a key to her house. He also had an unnamed little brother as a PC (mentioned in Soft Talking) but this seemed forgotten when he returned as a Sgt.
