wot deeper dive 2x5: damane
This specific post I am going to avoid any spoilers from the books! I will be doing another post later today that includes those spoilers and related thoughts.
Starting with a bigger introduction to the Seanchan. I love how much the show has worked to set them apart from our familiar Westlands characters. Everything about them -- their clothing, their mannerisms, their accents (their background music) -- all works together to convey the knowledge that they are different from the Westlands characters.
2. We learn some very important things in this first scene:
a. Suroth attacked that village on her own initiative (aka because of Ishamael), which means that Ishamael was having her search for Perrin under the cloak of ranging out for more damane and territory, and that specific attack was not ta'veren coincidence.
b. Suroth is not the leader of the invaders; High Lord Turak is. We also get to really see the dynamics of who is allowed to look at who and who is allowed to talk to who.
c. Ishamael lets Suroth take the fall for attacking the village before he reveals the thing that could have let her off the hook (the Horn of Valere). And Turak is definitely paying close attention to the dynamic between Suroth and Ishamael.
d. Turak, as a 'collector of ancient oddities' was able to open the box containing the Horn of Valere.
e. Loial and Ingtar are dressed up in a very specific and fancy style, and Suroth makes a point of mentioning that Ingtar is a 'lord' (and called Loial an 'Ogier slave').
f. We really see some different levels here, showing Seanchan society. I love the variety of styles! They're all in the same general theme (the shaved sides of the heads for the high status people and the longer fingernails) but they each have their own distinct style. And each of them has their own slave with a parasol and the slaves have individual styles as well -- picked out by their masters, one assumes. And none of the Seanchan sitting and watching the show here have nails as long as Suroth or Turak. Turak is the only one with the fancy gold nail protectors that extend all the way down the nail (Suroth has long nails but no extra protection behind the small band at the finger).
g. If Loial and Ingtar are dressed as some variety of slave, then the people standing behind Turak who are also dressed in that sort of seafoam-green clothing are likely slaves of the same rank. Looks like one of them is holding a tray of pastries, so that tracks.
h. Turak says that their mission here in the Westlands is to unite the people of the world to fight the Shadow, which means that he does not know that Suroth is a darkfriend and it makes it clear that the Seanchan as a whole are not actively fighting 'for' the Shadow. They believe that they are in the right, which is very important to know for their motivations going forward, I think. He's upset with Suroth because she's moving too fast -- Turak wants them to consolidate their position here first and only push out and take lands that they know they can hold (and we know that's true, because we will learn later in this episode that the Whitecloaks have taken it from the Seanchan).
i. The reaction when Suroth's nails get shortened is very telling. It makes it even more clear what a status symbol they are, as Suroth is basically told that Turak isn't going to let her be part of the ruling council again until her nails grow back out.
Great opening scene. Chilling. We learned so much about the Seanchan!
3. The chase scene between Rand & Moiraine and Lanfear is informative in so many ways. We see Moiraine's ruthlessness (she kills the horse and sets up the stable mistress to most likely be killed as a decoy); we see that she knows Rand better than she did when she was trying to convince him to follow her last season (she promises to tell him everything once they are out of immediate danger); we see how lethal and ruthless Lanfear is and how she enjoys causing suffering; and we see Moiraine's cleverness (the entire horse plan).
We also have the beginning of Rand getting devastating news that he needs to process -- last season, he dealt with that by going into severe denial for six episodes about what his father told him and what that might mean re: being the Dragon Reborn, but he's not doing that here. He has to come to terms with the idea that he's been having sex with one of the monsters from the stories that people tell about the end of the last Age but he doesn't try to pretend that it's not true at any point. Both Rand and Moiraine stay more grounded in reality here than they were last season (Rand hid in denial while Moiraine kept leaning on wishful thinking).
And we know from Moiraine's terrible wound last season that Aes Sedai cannot heal themselves with the One Power, so the fact that Lanfear CAN heal herself shows what an immense power gap was here even before Moiraine's ability to touch the Source was taken away. What Lanfear uses to heal herself also looks very different from the weaves of the One Power that we've been seeing all this time (including from both Ishamael and Lanfear).
4. Lanfear checking in with the stable mistress about who appeared to be in charge between Rand & Moiraine and noting that it was Moiraine and mentioning that she must remember how young Rand is. I was definitely thinking that she would probably place the majority (and potentially all) of the blame for what happened on Moiraine and not on Rand. Rand is young! He was led astray by this awful Aes Sedai 'bitch'. He just needs to be led back to the correct path! She can Fix Him (by breaking him). Lanfear can definitely still have her happy ending that she sold herself to the Shadow to get! I love her instant change in vibe now that she's not pretending to be Selene. "Is there anything slower than a horse?" And, of course, we know from the 3000 years ago flashback that they had some sweet technology back in the previous Age.
5. Perrin's scene here with Elyas is so good. We got hints in the previous episodes that Elyas is detached from humanity as a whole, but this scene really shows its... teeth about that. When Perrin realizes that Elyas lied to him and is leading him away from the caravan that kidnapped his companions, he immediately gets upset. He wants to learn more about what's happening to him but not at the cost of losing everything that he loves. Perrin's storyline in season 2 really has been absolutely fantastic.
We learn here that Perrin's eyes are going to completely switch over at some point.
6. Perrin has been getting progressively more and more upset after he realizes that Elyas lied about where he was taking Perrin (and Perrin had even mentioned last episode that he was worried they were going the wrong way and Elyas 'reassured' him by telling him that wolves don't get lost) but it's the mention of his wife that gets him to snap and leave Elyas behind. It must feel like a real betrayal, since he knows that Elyas is aware of his nightmares about Laila's death. That Elyas can know how deeply he grieves her and still dismiss her that way. She's 'not his pack' (she was not a wolf), so she doesn't matter.
7. We do get it fairly clearly stated here that the Forsaken were individually trapped by the previous Dragon and thus will be released individually as well (last episode implied it but now it's directly stated). I will note that for all that Moiraine mentioned she would tell Rand 'everything', she does not tell Rand that Lanfear was in love with the previous Dragon until the end of the episode, when she's decided that he needs to face Lanfear instead continuing to run.
8. I love that Hopper came back to try to help Perrin! I continue to love the way that they are showing how the wolves communicate with each other. Sad note: Hopper's actor doesn't get mentioned in the x-ray that pops up when you pause the show.
I love Perrin touching on the 'they didn't even bury him' idea after we had Ingtar showing respect even to the Darkfriend in the previous episode and giving him a burial. That Uno is being used as a prop, even after his death, to show how brutal the Seanchan are (and! being used that way by the Whitecloaks too, since they also didn't take him down and bury him).
9. Introducing... Aviendha. She gets a good introduction here -- she tries to help Perrin avoid running into the same danger she ran into, into coming into the wrong town at the wrong time; we learn about how dangerous she is (oh, Dain mentions that the last man who touched the cage got his arm broken -- we later see Valda with his arm in a sling). "You can't trust an Aiel," Perrin is told by Dain.
10. Dain Bornhald is another character introduction -- he survives the episode, so it's a safe bet that he'll be seen again. He's quite friendly with Perrin, and also quite observant -- he notices that Perrin is wearing a ring that looks of Two Rivers' make, he warns Perrin about not trying to help the Aiel woman, because he can tell that Perrin is uncomfortable with her being caged up.
There's also a lot of tension between Dain and Valda, once he shows up. Valda dislikes that Dain gave Aviendha water; Dain is amused when the small dog scares Valda (because he's got wolf-related trauma now); and Valda is of the opinion that Dain only holds power because his dad is important in the Whitecloaks.
11. This Verin plotline really is so delightful. It's actually a good parallel to Alanna's plotline in the last episode -- both of them are trying to ferret out information because they're worried about the current situation, and both of them encounter troubling hints that fellow Aes Sedai may be involved with the Shadow. But I love the comradery that we see here between Verin and her fellow Brown Ajah Sisters. Her two Sisters are just so instantly charming and I loved getting to see her talking with them.
12. Nynaeve and Liandrin's conversation is so good. Nynaeve figuring out that, all this time, Liandrin has been trying to recruit her for the Shadow and not for the Red Ajah. Liandrin has known from the beginning that Nynaeve was never going to pick the Red Ajah. But she had hopes about Nynaeve choosing the Dark...
We also get some nice history that expands on the lore of the Three Oaths from another (very biased) PoV.
Nynaeve sees right through Liandrin, though, and calls her out on trying to justify her choices, even now that they've taken her to places she genuinely dislikes.
13. Alwhin, Suroth's Voice, being ordered out of the room with everyone else (by Ishamael!) does imply to me that she isn't aware of who he is and doesn't know that Suroth is a Darkfriend.
We get our first (but not our last!) Darkfriend vs Darkfriend spat of the episode! I really loved that this episode is starting to explore the weaknesses of the Shadow, even as we're seeing how dangerous they are as well. They don't all agree on what they want or what means to take to get there. They hold each other in contempt (Suroth trying to tell Ishamael, leader of the Forsaken, that he's here on her sufferance because she's of the Blood and he's not... what an amazing moment that shows that as much as Suroth is a Darkfriend, she is still very much of her own culture as well).
Suroth is Big Mad at Ishamael for essentially throwing her under the bus. He was the one who ordered her to the village but she is the one who paid the price for it (as much as she calls Liandrin's Ishamael's 'dog' later in the episode, she is also very much on his leash, as he proves here when he yanks on it and she acknowledges that he's above her).
14. The second mention of a fight in the skies; Ishamael says that the Last Battle is going to happen here. Ishamael believes that the Last Battle is about to be won in Falme -- it seems like the reason that he believes that is because he thinks that Rand is about to fall over to their side. That's the first hint we have that he's confident to the point of arrogance imo (we'll get more later).
15. Everything about Aviendha and Perrin's conversation is great. "People shouldn't be in cages". The contrast between Aviendha's formal introduction of herself and Perrin just going "I'm Perrin... Aybara". And then the fight! We get to see Aviendha in action and everyone who might have forgotten about the fight in the cold open of 1x7 likely remembers it now. I love Aviendha's amusement over Perrin trying to be protective. "Perrin Aybara, do you like to dance?" and the confusion on his face every time she says something that he doesn't understand.
16. Moiraine does not tell Rand here that she can't channel (he may have guessed, but she didn't tell him). She only tells him that she can't use the One Power to keep them awake. We know that Moiraine is secretive and I think that a lot of the confusion earlier in the season over whether she's stilled or shielded also comes from both her and Lan being incredibly secretive and only sharing information on a need-to-know basis. She tells Rand about Tel'aran'rhoid because it is an active danger that he needs to stay wary of -- if he sleeps, then Lanfear will be able to reach him.
(I'm also hoping that show-onlys took note of what Moiraine said here and went back and rewatched the red coat sex scene with this new knowledge in mind)
I do not think that Moiraine told Alanna & co that she couldn't channel. All they know is that she doesn't want Lan around anymore and Alanna's plotline in 2x4 was all about the three of them trying to figure out why Moiraine dumped Lan (that plotline made so much more sense once I realized it was an Alanna plotline and not a Lan plotline). I think, out of necessity, that she told Verin & co that she couldn't channel and they likely assumed that she burned out, which is a known hazard (well, Verin may not have actually assumed that, given what she says to Moiraine in 2x2, but she let Moiraine believe that she assumed it). So I think a large part of the 'mystery' around Moiraine is simply because she doesn't tell anyone anything unless she believes that she absolutely has to. Now, luckily, she has realized that Rand NEEDS more information from her because it helps him trust her, so she is telling him a lot more than she did last season.
17. I am also going to note how incredibly similarly Rand and Moiraine are dressed here. The show did that a lot last season too (with the addition that Egwene was also dressed similarly to the two of them in s1, though that wasn't possible this season due to her needing to wear novice whites).
18. I loved the scene with Rand and all the Damodreds. Them mistaking Rand for Moiraine's Warder and her trying to will him to go along with the lie and her despairing, "This is.... Rand" when he reveals that he is not her Warder. Lady Anvaere revealing to Moiraine that she's already met Rand, which does not seem to be information that she shared with Moiraine over their tea session, given Moiraine's reaction. And Moiraine interacting so awkwardly with her nephew Barthanes.
We also get the information that the upcoming royal wedding will be in a few weeks.
19. Poor Rand is just getting so much new information thrown at him. Though at least he's had more sleep than Moiraine, he did just spend all night walking to Cairhien. Moiraine starts out with the idea that they just need to run as fast and far as they can, but Anveare makes her rethink her plans. She gets Moiraine to stop and think about the situation as a whole -- IS Rand actually in danger from Lanfear? If he is in danger, what kind of danger is it? And would running actually fix any of that when they know that she can get to him in his dreams? I think the show did a really good job of showing why Moiraine decided not to keep running here.
20. Verin and Sheriam's conversation is very good, how she feels out the situation with Sheriam and then sets up a reason for them both to need to leave the room together so that her friend can sneak in and check out Sheriam's book. And what we see of the confusion on Sheriam's face here tracks with Verin wondering about the possible of Compulsion later on.
21. Yasicca of the Brown Ajah is absolutely charming. I love her accent. I hope we get to see more of her in the future. If the show continues to follow up on the Black Ajah thread that they've laid out here, Yasicca could be a major player (... or she might be destined to be killed off because she gets too close to the truth. oh, that's sad! I like her so much already and I barely know her!). I also loved that we got to see the writing in the show. Verin is very good about starting conversations and letting the other person finish it, giving them prompts as appropriate.
22. Our second Darkfriend vs Darkfriend spat occurs as Liandrin delivers the Wondergirls into slavery. I do think that Liandrin was definitely holding onto the Power this entire conversation. The way that the damane who pointed out the girls in the village looks at her feels like she can sense it. She also looks mournful when she's caught Egwene, imo. I really like how this episode is showing the cracks in the Dark.
23. I'm not going to get into Egwene's (horrible, heartbreaking) situation too much here because it's clear that the next episode is going to go into a lot more detail.
24. Aviendha and Perrin continue to be a delight. She's very patient with him but she teases him too. We also learn here that she's searching for the Aiel's chief of chiefs, their Car'a'carn. Just a genuinely lovely scene. And Hopper just hanging out with them!
I love that Aviendha doesn't even ask why they're going to Falme. She goes where he goes! She owes him a debt! He'll tell her if he decides to!
25. Elayne trying to be helpful while Nynaeve is just spiky because she barely knows this girl: understandable! Good thing Ryma's Warder found them!
26. A great conversation between Verin and Liandrin here. Liandrin's attempt to ~casually lean~ against the wall when she sees Verin genuinely made me laugh. Verin, of course, is now following up on the thread that she asked Yasicca to investigate for her -- anyone who has left the Tower in recent days. Liandrin makes the big mistake of liars here in that she talks too much and gives too many details.
27. Seeing Moiraine's exhaustion here was so good and so important. She's so tired but she can't sleep! And I really love the conversation between her and Anvaere. We also find out here that their father was kind-hearted and Barthanes takes after him. I love that Anvaere knows Moiraine well enough to tell that she's at a loss for her next move. We really get to see Anvaere's perceptiveness here. And Moiraine trying to figure out how much is safe to tell.
28. Darkfriend vs Darkfriend spat number three. Though this one comes with a side of how much they both are desperately obsessed with Rand. Also, Lanfear & Ishamael imply here that Lanfear's big plan last episode was to reveal her identity to Rand. Given what he says in an upcoming scene ("You want me to pretend to be in love with a Forsaken?"), I'm... uh, not sure that conversation would have gone the way that she wanted. But, yes, Ishamael confirms here that he's our True Believer of the Forsaken/Chosen, while Lanfear just wants her ex back. Lol, the way they stare at their imagined Rand for a while cracks me up.
29. I also think this conversation gives us our second big moment of Ishamael being overconfident to the point of arrogance, in his assessment of the ta'veren five. He thinks that all of them are on the cusp of being broken:
a. that Egwene craves power (though the viewers know from last episode that she wants power explicitly to protect the people she cares about and not for its own sake)
b. that Nynaeve fears her power (not necessarily wrong, but it also doesn't mean that her fear will lead her into aligning with the Dark; an option that she just firmly rejected from Liandrin)
c. that Mat was 'born mine' which is following on a thread that was set up last season, where both Moiraine and Mat himself worry that the world would be doomed if Mat were the Dragon
d. and that Perrin is going to soon be 'more wolf than man' (but the viewers just saw him refuse to isolate himself from his friends and refuse to disconnect from humanity)
And Lanfear believes that if Rand sees that his friends have fallen to the Shadow, that he will break.
The only one of them that's actually under Ishamael's power right now is Egwene, captured by the Seanchan.
30. I find it fascinating that Alwhin, Ingtar, and Loial all appear as part of Ishamael's entourage when he's summoned to speak with Turak, even though Suroth isn't there yet. We get another name -- the Court of the Nine Moons -- and we learn that he's the one who saw the omens that led to the Seanchan mounting this attack on the Westlands.
31. We're only just barely introduced to Ryma and her Warder, but I'm looking forward to seeing more of them (probably next episode). She's going to be able to give them all the info on the Seanchan (that we are going to see played out with Egwene - ugh this collar scene is so heartbreaking).
The sul'dam who collars Egwene doesn't have the facepaint. I wonder if they only wear that when they're actively working as part of the armies or guard. Hmm, but the sul'dam standing on Egwene's other side does have the facepaint, so I don't know. X-ray confirms that her name is Renna. The magic of the collar itself has almost a sci-fi or steampunk vibe. It forms almost like gears. We see a 'leash' of the One Power going from Renna to Egwene and then she puts an actual leash, a chain, on Egwene's collar.
It really is hard to watch.
32. Moiraine and Rand. Going off to a bedroom together. Barthanes and Anvaere have a lot to think about in terms of hot gossip. I really do like Rand and Moiraine's conversation here. Rand's realization of what Moiraine is asking him to do here (catfish one of the Forsaken, as someone put it) is very well done. But, wow, Rand clearly has not had a chance to process any of his trauma from their relationship so him diving right in to confront her is definitely a dangerous choice.
Their conversation in TAR I'll save for when we actually get it in the next episode (I'm assuming). But Lanfear certainly knows how to set a scene.

Halo season 2 has finally arrived! However, this fic continues to zip along in the AU Party Warthog, so, while we began with season 1 way back when (and you'll see a few more things from s1 along the way 😉), we'll not be venturing into s2 territory at all. Unless s2 is going to take some verrrrry interesting twists, lol! Chapter 9 is still in progress by hand but I hope to have it ready soon. 🤞😣🤞The next chapter will also see us entering into some hurt/comfort for a bit but I tend to lean heavier on the comfort, in case you're worried. Chapter 1 - Chapter 2 - Chapter 3 - Chapter 4 - Chapter 5 - Chapter 6 - Chapter 7
The Troop Transport Warthog hit a particularly rough patch and you held on for all you were worth to keep from being ejected.
"Sarge," Private Taylor yelled. "Where are we?"
"That's need to know and none of you need to know, marine," Sarge shouted back from the passenger seat. "Just keep your head down, do your job, and you'll be home 15 minutes before your mama has breakfast on the table."
You couldn't particularly tell if it were dusk, dawn or high noon, the air was so heavy with the greasy remains of mortar rounds. In the distance, a nondescript cityscape occasionally flared with either continuing pockets of active combat or just the remnants of the devastation that had passed through.
Wherever you were, it felt like you were barreling at top speed through a graveyard of vehicles: Warthogs, Mongeese and even the odd Scorpion, some overturned, blackened and smoldering, others weirdly intact as if their drivers had merely stepped away for a moment.
This was a salvage and recovery mission, tasking your unit with marking vehicles as repairable, recyclable or a total loss to be abandoned.
The next hour or so, that had been your focus, moving from Warthogs and the occasional Mongoose, conducting a quick evaluation, then using your spray gun to mark a green circle on the hood to send back to Reach for repair, a white slash to send it to be stripped for usable parts or a red X to abandon, not worth salvaging.
You marked a Mongoose with a red X, though the gun sputtered and you had to give it a few whacks before it sprayed properly, then you moved on.
Next up was a Warthog that seemed in decent condition from the outside, short of the rear antenna twisted until it resembled a curly tail. But the electronics were fried and the entire undercarriage looked like it had plowed over a series of flaming spikes, all major parts gouged out and burned. There might have been a few nuts and bolts reclaimable but since you'd just recently been writing up requisition for needed parts, you judged that it was more effort than it was worth.
You made the call to abandon it but as you tried to spray the red X across the hood, nothing emerged, even after shaking the sprayer and giving it a few more hits with the heel of your palm. With a slightly frustrated noise -- who was checking to make sure that the sprayers were in working order before they were sent out? -- you headed to get a replacement. Along the way, you caught a private going in the opposite direction.
"Hey, see that 'hog there? Would you red X it for me? Thanks."
"Um, sure," the blond man said and headed where you gestured.
You were still looking for somebody who had a spare sprayer when Sarge drove up in the Troop Transport again.
"Wrap it up, it's about to get hot," he shouted.
You quickly joined the rush back to board the Pelican and scrambled into a seat just as it lifted off. A split-second after you'd clicked the restraint down, the Pelican rolled to one side, shuddering from an impact.
Alarms began blaring, mixed in with the pilot calling out coordinates, and you automatically tried to look forward, as if you'd somehow be able to spot what was shooting at you. All you could really see was the anxious faces of the other marines around you. You spared a couple of breaths to be glad that neither Maria or Jamie had been called in for this.
The Pelican took a second, more glancing blow and the resulting shudder rattled your teeth.
"Covvies?" somebody asked over the engine whine and the private across from you shrugged.
"Who else?" she said. "But that felt like surface-to-air to me. What about you?"
She met your eyes and it was your turn to shrug. "I'm not sure. Never been hit by any sort of missile before."
"Oh well, congratulations on your first missile salvo," she returned with a crooked grin.
The Pelican rolled once more, this time in an evasive maneuver, then thankfully smoothed out and made its escape without further incident.

Your unit was taken to the covert off-world depot known colloquially as The Pit, where everything that had been marked for repair or recycle would be delivered for further sorting. In the center of the large warehouse area was a compactor pit for all of the scrap to be sent into. Several cranes were already busy moving the smaller vehicles like Warthogs and Mongeese into berths to be stripped down while the still operational vehicles were lining up to be loaded onto heavy transport carriers to be returned to base.
You finished stripping your second Warthog for salvageable parts and signaled the nearest lift operator. The clawlike crane clamped onto the 'hog's shell, picking it up and carrying it towards the compactor while you moved on to a Mongoose with a crumpled left rear wheel.
Then, out of the corner of your eye, you spotted a Warthog with a particularly distinctive twisted rear antenna being dropped off into the line to be loaded up and returned to FLEETCOM.
Frowning, you wove your way through the other mechanics, avoiding the occasional flying part, and found a green circle sprayed onto the hood.
Shit, the private must've heard me wrong when I told him to red X it. It seemed like an odd mistake to make but things had been hectic.
You grabbed a sprayer and neutralized the green and sprayed over it with a red X, then went to the nearest crane operator.
"You see that 'hog with the X on it? Drop it in the line for the compactor, please."
"Got it," the woman said and you waited until she'd picked it up and deposited it appropriately before you returned to work.
You were elbows into a Gauss 'hog's engine bay when you heard your rank and name called. Looking up, your heart gave a little skip: John in full helmeted Mjolnir strode your way with thundering steps you could hear even over the rest of the cacophony.
"With me," he said tersely, passing by and disappearing through a doorway at the back of the warehouse.
You had to hustle to catch up and he had already stopped by the time you joined him in the otherwise empty hallway. He turned, removing his helmet with a slight pneumatic hiss.
"Are you okay?" you both said at the same time.
The angle of the hallway meant you were shielded from most of the work floor. He set his helmet down and very carefully took your hands in his gloved ones.
"Insurgents took the field," he said, looking you over from head to toe. "Did you see combat? Intel was unclear."
"No, we got out but the Pelican took a few shots. Somebody said it felt like surface-to-air but I didn't remember Covenant using anything like that. It was insurgents, then?"
He nodded distractedly, glancing away to mutter, "I'll be right there." Then he looked back to you. "I have to go. Your unit's being sent back to Reach but if they divert you into combat..."
He trailed off, clearly realizing there was no way to finish that sentence the way he wanted.
"Tell them, nah, I'd rather not, thanks?" Your mouth twitched and you squeezed his fingers.
He gave a resigned chuckle. "Yeah, try that, please."
"You're the one who'll be much more in the thick of it," you pointed out. "You be careful, okay?"
"Always try," he said, bringing your hands up to press a kiss to the back of both.
Kai leaned around the door, her visor glinting green. "Chief, sorry but we've got to go."
"Copy that." He released you with clear reluctance and picked up his helmet. "Stay safe. I'll see you soon."
He vanished through the doorway and you took a breath, exhaling slowly. John suddenly appeared right in front of you again, leaning down to cup your face in one hand.
You were just about to ask if something was wrong when he kissed you.
For a moment, for forever, the universe shrank to just the two of you, his mouth on yours, a little frantic at first, then slowing, steadying out.
You felt like you were hovering off the ground and then realized you were; he'd picked you up at some point, pressing you gently to his chest plate. Your hand dropped to the 117 etched near his heart and it was gritty with sand and dirt. You were both grimy and sooty but it didn't matter. It couldn't have been more perfect if you were in a flowing ballgown and him in a tux, slowly spinning together on a glittering palace floor.
He set you back onto your feet but you only parted a breath away from each other.
"I... I'll get better with practice," he mumbled.
You smiled at him, feeling wobbly, lightheaded and more grounded than you'd ever been before, all at the same time. "John, if you were any better at that, I'd have to show you how fast I can get a Spartan out of their Mjolnir with my bare hands."
He was near enough to see his pupils dilate and that was incredibly gratifying. "I'll hold you to that," he said, his voice dropping an entire octave, making your toes literally curl inside your boots.
Then he put his helmet back on and left. You took a moment to compose yourself, then exited as well. There was no sign of Silver Team. No doubt, the Pelican waiting for him had taken off the second he'd boarded.
Cutting through the busy deck, you looked for any vehicle marked with a white stripe, still waiting to be stripped. On an impulse, you diverted to the line being dropped one at a time into the compactor. There was no sign of the curly tailed Warthog.
It could've already been compacted, you were thinking when you saw it going by overhead, clutched in a crane claw and heading back towards the line to return to Reach.
You didn't stop to think, you sprinted for the crane's operator booth. "Hey, put that 'hog down!"
The operator looked at you and you realized in a burst that it was the blond man you'd originally told to mark it with the red X back on the battlefield, who'd apparently designated it instead to come back to The Pit.
No, to go back to FLEETCOM.
Recognition went across his face at the same moment and he bolted from the booth. The lift automatically stopped, the Warthog swaying over the crowded deck.
You knew. You just knew.
You ran as fast as you could and slammed the alarm on the wall. "Bomb!" you bellowed over the shrill klaxon. "Bomb! Clear out!"
Jumping into the operator booth and grabbing the controls, you quickly scanned the area as marines scattered everywhere. There was only one place you could think to go.
You swung the arm around, guiding the curly tailed 'hog firmly clasped in its grip towards the compactor pit. It felt like it was taking a year to get there but you couldn't release the controls or the safety would bring it once more to a stop. Once the Warthog was finally in position, you opened the grip.
What if I'm wrong? you thought as it began to fall. I'll feel like such a fool if--
There was a saying that if you were close enough to an explosion, you would never actually hear it.
It was true.

If you want to, you know, imagine that Sarge's full name is, sayyyyyy, Avery Johnson, well then, who am I to tell you that you're right or wrong? 😇
Tumblr media
If you don't know the Troop Transport Warthogs, here's one in action from Halo: Reach. It's on the level "ONI: Sword Base" and is scripted to be destroyed but there's a way to save it and the marines in it and take it with you for a great deal of the rest of the level! I love saving the Troop 'hog, even if it always still looks like it's on fire. Nah, it's fiiiiiine, no worries! 😎👍😂😉

Ninjago au where none of the ninja think death is a real thing and never conclude that one of them has died within the many fakeout deaths.
Wu got eaten by the great devourer? He’s literally the son of the fsm I think he can handle a bit of stomach acid
Zane exploded? Sucks yeah but he’s tough, everyone just stressfully scavenger hunts for his limbs so they can put him back together. It gets a bit complicated when it turns out Chen had Zane’s head but he was fine in the end
They hold a funeral for Garmadon going to the cursed realm but everyone knows he’ll come back so theyre not too worried
Morro stands there screaming about how he died and the ninja just say “sounds fake ngl” and he’s like “I’m right here!”
Garmadon tells Lloyd he’ll see him in about 3 seasons time
S6 Jay becomes the only ninja aware of death because he saw Nya die but he erased the timeline because he disagrees with death
Morro being so pissed that the ninja invalidated his death that even though in dotd he’s on their side he chooses not to get resurrected with Cole just so no one can use it against him and say death isn’t real
Kai and Nya being unfazed that their parents are alive
Harumi hates the ninja specifically bc of their view on death and she tries to kill them partially to prove them wrong. She keeps failing. They point out that she technically brought back Garmadon proving their point
No one thinks Mystake is actually dead, she’s an Oni who’s survived multiple wars, she’s probably being a rat somewhere
Lloyd died in MotO but then the fsm master came to him and said he also doesn’t believe in death and then Lloyd woke up again
Zane gets zapped to the never realm and Aspheera was like “aha! I have killed him” only for the ninja to say that god already confirmed death to be fake and aspheera was like “ok I lied”
Cole’s mum is the only dead person in the series. She is the singular outlier to the stats. Vangelis, the munce and geckles all are shocked to find out she’s dead
The merlopian king actually survived the stabbing he just passed out. But he thought he died and was too embarrassed to show up for the rest of the season. Poor bentho doesn’t even know
Even if Nya didn’t actually die, being sea is just as bad so nothing changes
Crystalised spoilers but Harumi is even more angry to be wrong again but she has to keep her pro-death is real beliefs to herself because the overlord is anti death alongside the ninja.

I'm not sure who to ask, but you always seem happy to answer questions, so I'm sending this your way.
I'm "newish" to the fandom. Never really kept up with spoilers and metas and things like that. So, I'm curious if you could tell me: Has the buddie speculation always been like this? Like, it just seems like the people promoting the show are really pushing thoughts to connect to Buddie happening.
And it's fun and exciting. Don't get me wrong, but I guess I'm just wondering how prepared I should be to not get my hopes up?
Love your blog, and I hope you're doing well ❤️
Hey Nonnie
I'm so sorry its taken so long to get round to answering this ask. I am always happy to answer asks and I'm so glad you sent this my way - even if I'm not sure if I'm the best person to answer it!
firstly welcome to the fandom - I hope you enjoy being a part of it with us!
in answer to your actual question, it depends on if you mean the promo team or if you mean the teams making the show - as in the script writers, set, props and wardrobe departments etc.
If you mean the former, things in terms of promotion aren't really that much different from pre season 6, we've had a bit more from cast members other than Oliver this season than last (they let Ryan out of his cage a little bit for starters!!) , but its not really been that much different to before.
If you are talking about the teams making the show then yes they have stepped up their game considerably this season. A lot of people rat on Kristen Riedel as showrunner, which I think is grossly unfair -things might've been a bit bumpy in transition when she took over -(I personally think she tried to take too much on by writing, directing and being showrunner, but she realised this and stepped back in order to do right by the show and that says a huge amount about her) but actually we are getting a lot more tying up of loose ends and making use of things in canon that wouldn't have happened under Tim - KR is a master of making use of what canon has already put in place to build on the story and flesh out characters far more than we see in a lot of shows.
It is important to note that the showrunner has final say about pretty much everything that we see on screen, about what is being put out there - if KR didn't want the step up in buddie related metaphors such as the couch then we wouldn't be seeing it on our screens so the fact we are seeing it is telling and there really isn't any other way to read it other than the intention is there from the show for Buddie to go canon - slow burns are just that a slow burn - we're not going to get it all given to us in 2 episodes - that would be a diservice to the characters and to the work the show has been doing. They started the build up for this at the beginning of season 3 (I remain convinced that it wasn't part of the plan in season 2, just a happy accident that they decided to play around with a bit in the later part of the season to see if it had legs or if it was just a bit of a flash in the pan) and there has been a very purposeful build up since then.
KR and the PR department are not going to explicitly say 'oh yes Buck and Eddie are endgame' in interviews - that would spoil the journey and they are never going to do that. I keep saying it , and others do to, Buddie going canon is huge - it will literally be the first queer romance slow burn on television that has been done with intent and given the same amount of care and consideration as a heterosexual slow burn on any other show and there is absolutely no way they are going to ruin the build up or the moment it happens - they want us to be kept guessing until it happens - that is good storytelling, they want us to still be surprised when it happens because even if we know its going to happen we don't know how or exactly when.
This show is incredibly good at taking us in one direction before changing tack and misdirecting us for a little bit. None of us were quite prepared for just how badly Buck was going to deal with his Everest sized mountain of trauma -we knew he was traumatised and we knew he needed to deal with it, but not a single person saw just how badly it was going to play out (or how much it was going to hurt us when it happened), but we do know that the show likes happy endings and likes to show healing so however bad it might be right now, Buck will come out the other side a better person who has had some major growth and ready - ready for Buddie canon - because he wasn't there yet - we all knew that!
I am totally prepared to be wrong, and feel free to come at me with knives if I am, but there has been too much intentional build up this season (and even last season which was building us up to where we are now as well) for things to go in any direction other than Buddie - we just have to trust the show and the process and enjoy the ride because I have no doubt its gonna throw us another curveball or two on the way but when we get there its going to just be so epically good!
Sorry I think I went of on a bit of a ramble 😳😳😳 but I hope it was worth the read! I'm always here to answer questions!

The more I think about totk the less I like it. Like I've played almost every zelda game (the only ones I haven't played are Zelda 2, the four swords games & oracle of ages because I played seasons) and totk is like, maybe bottom 3, the only thing saving it from actually being in the bottom is that none of my friends would play triforce heroes with me and that's significantly less fun without multiplayer (and there are some things I like in triforce more than totk, like being able to put Link in a dress, actually it’s just that) also at first I was going to end it there but then I remembered that they said there was no dlc because they'd done everything they wanted to do with this version of Hyrule which might mean no Hyrule warriors (the only redeeming point I would have given to totk) so fuck it here's every problem I have with it.
Story
So the story isn't very good, you go to a place, see Zelda be so incredibly suspicious (more on that later), secret stone demon king, repeat another 3 times. Then you learn about the 5th temple, secret stone demon king, now go kill Ganondorf.
And a barebones story can be fine, but it's frustrating that the some of the biggest complaints about botw were about the story, the only real difference is that instead of getting the divine beasts you're getting secret stones.
Weapon design
More specifically what I have a problem with is the monster horns. The monsters looked pretty good in botw but because of the weapon fuse mechanic every monster has a different horn so you can get different weapons (which also bloats the inventory but that's a minor issue I dont really care about) and they clearly designed them as weapons not as body parts so they looked good in botw but now they look kinda awkward in totk by having a sword or a scythe blade sticking out of their head, it's also kinda annoying that the new monsters like the aerocuda, gibdo and gleeok look really good and have weapon parts that fit into the designs much more naturally.
But I also have a problem with the weapons themselves. There's so much less variation than in botw. Weapons had different shapes like with the Yiga sickle or the spring loaded hammer or even the weak weppons like a broom or a farming tool, but totk doesn't have anything like that. It kinda reminds me of Monster Hunter World, where a lot of the weapons looked very similar to eachother and the only variation was the monster parts attached to them.
More story
The memories are kinda terrible. They have information thats wrong compared to the gameplay, and some spoilers that actually ruined some of the present day stuff that Link is doing. For stuff that's wrong: the great deku tree says that the master sword will get more powerful if its exposed to more sacred power, after you get it back from the light dragon it is identical to how it was at the beginning of the game and a lot weaker than it was if you did any of the botw dlc, I guess this is supposed to be about Ganondorf not being able to break the sword this time but he doesn't even try. And Mineru says that secret stones only amplify their owners' power, but the companions you get don't actually have their abilities amplified and are functionally identical to how they were before, and the secret stone aparantly gives them a new power of duplicating themselves.
The gameplay clashing with the story can be seen as nitpicking or whatever but the story ruining itself is so much worse. So if you finish the dragon tears before doing the temples, it makes Link look stupid or that he's actively withholding information from the team and leading them into traps on purpose. Link sees in the memories that Zelda turned herself into a dragon and that it's impossible to turn back, he knows that Zelda is still a dragon because you've seen her, it's pretty likely that you've touched the light dragon. You've also seen a memory where Ganondorf created an illusion of Zelda to assassinate Sonia. So whenever the new sages say they saw Zelda, Link knows for an absolute fact that they've been tricked, and he doesn't tell them. The worst offender of this is when you go to Hyrule Castle following "Zelda". Purah sees her through a telescope and Link doesn't say that it's an illusion from Ganondorf. He goes to her and gets ambushed by monsters six times in a row, then he goes into another ambush against the strongest version of the phantom Ganon boss. And sure you could do the dragon tears after, but there's nothing stopping you from spoiling yourself and no indication that one of the main quests in your quest log contains spoilers for the rest of the game.
General attitude to fans
This is a kinda minor problem that just rubbed me the wrong way. In botw there was a trick called whistle sprinting, where you could move faster without using your stamina by whistling and mashing the sprint button. In totk if you mash sprint like you would to whistle sprint, it actually drains your stamina faster. Sure it was an exploit or a glitch or whatever getting patched, but they clearly fixed the issue and then deliberately added a mechanic that would punish you for trying. People who know how to whistle sprint are mostly speedrunners or people who replayed the game a lot, as in the people who cared about the game the most, and they're getting punished because they love the game.
Treatment of the Zelda franchise as a whole
After the totk trailer, the next game released was a remake of Skyward Sword (my favourite Zelda game). Clearly making a comparison between the sky islands seen in totk and the sky islands of Skyward Sword. The story of Skyward Sword explained the continuity between Zelda games and turned it from a series of legends into a story across fate about how love and goodness will always be there to stop evil. Tears of the Kingdom pretty much explicitly says that all previous Zelda games aren't canon, not just botw's "they're in the ancient past and won't have any effect on this game" but fully overwriting the events of other games, Skyward sword ended with the sky islands descending and the people deciding to found a kingdom that would become Hyrule but in the dragon tear memories and what Mineru says about history, we know that the Zonai founded Hyrule. It feels like they don't like the previous games.
And there are a few other things that are smaller, like I don't like the Zonai powers compared to the Shieka slate, I think the memories feel disconnected since there's no zonai tech (other than one cooking pot), the weapons look completely different from anything we have access to and Rauru never uses any of the powers that Link gets from his arm (other than opening a door) it feels almost like the game and the story were made separately from eachother.
I don't want the next Zelda game to be like these games have been.

Warnings: Minor Spoilers for Season 3, language, self deprecation, age gap relationship, slight mention of ED, slight mention of sexual activity
==========
Ed watches you with an amused smile as you twirl around on the dance floor, a smile painted across your face while Ed tilts his drink back, polishing off his glass. Feeling a presence next to him, he looks over and spots Karen, watching you like a hawk.
"How much younger is she?"
"I beg your pardon?" Ed gawks at his ex wife as she watches the way you enjoy yourself.
"She looks like she's a good 20 years younger than you."
"Don't remind me," Ed comments bitterly, looking down at his hands, lined with various scars and tons of wrinkles from years of life. He chokes back the sinking feeling in his gut, because he thinks the same thing every day. How is someone like you, 20 some odd years younger than him, with him? He can no longer keep up with your walking pace when you and him go for evening walks around the block, he struggles to get out of bed in the morning - his joints often being the culprit, and hell, he even has to occasionally take the happy little blue pill when he just can't get it up, and thats probably the worst thing about getting old.
He's always quick to apologize when you and him have to stop activities for him to take the medicine, but you're equally as quick to reassure him that it's ok and he believes it. But now? Hearing what his ex wife, and probably many others, think, it has him questioning why you're still with him. So why are you still with him?
"Do you love her, Ed?" Karen asks, tilting her head to the side as Ed slowly nods, standing up from the stool and grabbing his jacket.
"I do. I really do. If you'll excuse me," he leaves the bar and quickly pulls you to the side, your hands finding the back of his short cropped hair while you look up at him like he hung the moon.
"Hello Admiral. Enjoying yourself?" His hands fall to your hips as he presses a tender kiss to your forehead.
"No. I'm ready to go." He mumbles into your neat up do as you look up, suddenly somber, and nod your head.
"Alright, yeah. Let's go."
Leading you out of the room, he guides you through a series of halls, an uncomfortable silence hanging over the two of you as you fiddle with your hands. Had you done something wrong? Have you somehow embarrassed him? Either way, the halls seem endless as the two of you walk down the corridors to your assigned room.
Upon entering the room, he plops on the bed and stares out the window, his face unreadable. You haven't seen him this quiet before, and to be honest, it makes you nervous. Walking over to him, you plant yourself within feet of his body. He doesn't turn to look at you. "Do you love me?"
The question takes you back, not having expected such a question. The gears in your head turn. "Ed? What? What makes you think I don't love you?"
"You're just after me for my money, waiting for the day 'The Great Astronaut Ed Baldwin' bites the dust," the words spew out of his mouth causing your eyes to widen. What in the? Moving to stand in front of him, you take his face in your hands, but eyes remain forward.
"Ed, where is all this coming from? None of that is true!" His hazel eyes rim with unshed tears as he looks up at you, committing your face to memory.
"I'm old. You're young. Why the hell are you with me?" Your face softens before pulling yourself into him, cradling his head to your chest.
"Oh Eddy, what makes you think I care about that? I love you for you." You sink to the bed, taking his hands in yours and tracing the carious lines in his hands. He looks down before turning away.
"It's just," he sighs, taking one hand and wiping away the tears that threaten to fall down his cheeks. "I'm not who I used to be, I'm not someone who can be your hero." As you watch him tear himself down, your heart breaks. How can someone as magnificent as Ed Baldwin think so low of themselves?
"Ed, look at me," you grab his chin softly before pulling his head to the side. "Look at me." His hazel eyes meet yours. "You, Edward Baldwin, are everything to me. You are the first thought I have when I wake up in the morning and the last when I go to sleep. You are who I dream about, who I've always dreamed about. I look forward to those moments when I get to listen to you talk about your passions, or even when you need to vent. I love the way you squeeze my hands before you let it go. The way you hold me, the way you look at me, it makes me feel like I'm the most loved woman in the universe." You take a second to gain your breath, watching the way his features soften as they morph into love. "You are not only a hero to so many but you are my hero and you don't need to do anything to prove that. You are more than you used to be and I love you with my entire mind, body, and soul. You've been through so much loss, pain, and frustration in your life and you've experienced so many things that so many people can only dream of and yet you're still the most gorgeous, caring man who makes me weak in my knees every damn time. So stop talking about yourself like this, because it won't change how I feel about you."
"And how do you feel about me?" He leans in closer to you before resting his forehead against yours, your hearts beating in unison.
"I love you, Ed Baldwin. I love you so much more than words could ever say. You make me the happiest I've ever been. You are my hero, my husband, my lover, and I will spend every day for the rest of our lives proving to you how much I love you." You press your lips to his, love pouring between the two of you before you pull away. "How about I show you just how much I love you?" You press a kiss to his cheek as the blood flows just underneath the surface of his skin and down south.
"I think I'd like that very much." You smirk, pushing against his chest before climbing onto his lap.
"Good, because you are not gonna leave this bed until you know just how much I love you."

Welcome to the Freak Show (Part 19)
So my life has been busy at the moment so parts to this story may be less frequent then normal. I will still post I’m just not sure when I’ll have time to write new parts but new parts are coming I promise!
Eddie x Reader
WORD COUNT: 2681
From beginning / Previous / Next / Master List
Tumblr media
WARNINGS: Season 4 spoilers, swearing, very brief smut, making out
DISCLAIMERS
-  This is fiction. Please always talk to your partner before doing anything and make sure they are ok with what you are doing beforehand
Alice leaves after a while. You get ready to hide Eddie in case she tells the police but after a few hours you figure she’s kept her promise and not ratted you out. A few days pass. You have gotten Eddie some new clothes for him to wear. Then you pack up all your stuff into your car during the day. Going back into your house, you sit on the sofa. Eddie grabbing a beer from the fridge. “So go over the plan with me again” he asks as he sits next to you
“I’ve packed our stuff into my car. Later tonight, I’m thinking about 1am, we head off to Mexico. Once there we do some house hunting or just find a caravan to live in. Dependant on which one happens first. A small flat will do us just fine”
“How long is the drive to Mexico?”
“Likely take us 2 days. Possibly 3 depending on how many times we need to stop for food and sleep” he nods, taking a large sip of his drink
“And who have you told that we are going?”
“I’ve quit my job already. I stopped working there about a week ago. Some of my immediate friends I’ve told I’m moving away but I said I’d write to them. Alice is the only one who knows that I’m moving into a place with you” he nods, scratching at his neck scar. You sigh as you stand up “I’m going to sleep for a bit so that I can drive us over night. Just for a few hours. I’ll then park up and sleep properly. It’s just so that no one who might recognise you from around here won’t see you in my car” he nods and waves goodnight to you as you go into the bedroom and lie down.
-
You wake up about midnight, having a quick shower before going to Eddie who’s asleep on the sofa. Shaking him “Eddie” he grunts at you as you chuckle. “Eddie, it’s time for us to go” he rubs his eyes, nodding and sitting up. Scratching his head before standing.
“Let’s go” he heads to the front door. You quickly write a note, leaving it on the table for the estate agent who was coming round the next day. Saying you would leave the key you have under the doormat. Thankfully he has a key to your house so you didn’t worry about him not being able to get in. You lock the door behind you both after you quickly ran round the house, checking you’ve not left anything behind. Heading to the car you start it up, backing out and heading to your new home.
You had music blaring, trying to keep yourself awake whist you drove. But it must’ve gotten about 4 in the morning before you caved. Pulling into a layby so you could rest your eyes for a few hours. Just as you turn off the car’s engine, Eddie wakes up. “Sorry Liz... I meant to stay awake and chat with you”
“It’s ok. Sorry to wake you. I just needed to rest my eyes for a bit before driving again”
“Rest then. I’ll see you in the morning” you nod. Both falling back to sleep.
Waking up about 10 you stretch, Eddie flutters his eyes open and half smiles at you “Do you want me to take over driving for a bit?”
“If you’re ok with that?”
“Of course!” you both switch seats. Him driving for a few hours as you both chat. “I’ve not played dungeons and dragons in so long”
“When did you last play?”
“Like a month ago. That’s a long time” you laugh
“I’ve not played for over a year”
“How are you sane?” he asks you
“I don’t know. None of my friends are into that kind of thing. Apart from you, obviously. But I feel bad about crashing you hellfire session” he chuckles slightly
“Ok. I need to change your experience though”
“How?”
“Tonight when we pull over I’m going to do a session with you. Just a small one. Before we sleep” you laugh slightly
“Will just me playing be enough?”
“Of course! It’d come in handy as I need new DnD buddies” you nod slightly, looking at him as he drives. Getting heavily distracted by his hand changing gear. Going back to the wheel. Thankfully you pull yourself out of the trance before he notices. Going back to your conversation.
-
You stop for food, before you take over driving again. Going along until quite late. You find a car park. Both grabbing snacks as he grins at you “You ready for DnD?”
“Sure. Let’s do this” he laughs, setting up the basis for the game with you. Creating a character and then a world. It doesn’t surprise you that he has a couple of dice in his leather jacket.
You play for what must’ve been a couple of hours before he speaks. “I think us ending at the Cave of Death is a good place to stop”
“No! I want to know that happened to Lin!” he chuckles slightly “You can’t have my cat companion kidnapped and then not at least tell me she’s ok”
“Guess you’ll just have to find out tomorrow” you glare at him, grabbing a chocolatey snack from the dashboard and hiding it over your side of the car
“Fine. But I’m taking these as hostage” he laughs, leaning across you and taking them. He smiles at you, you can smell the cigarette on his breath as he speaks
“Didn’t put up much of a fight now did you?” you chuckle, snatching them back off of him and trying to move away. But he just goes closer to you, causing you to squeal. He laughs, grabbing them from you and going to his side of the car. You lean over him, hand resting on his bicep as you go to grab them again but being unable to. His arms being that little bit longer than yours. You huff out in annoyance, glaring at him. His face inches away from yours as he grins.
“You’re...” you try and think of an insult but none comes to mind
“Amazing? Gorgeous? A brilliant friend? Oh you flatter me”
“Oh shut up” he laughs, gently patting your head before he looks around the car park.
“Wow. How long did we play for? We’re the only ones here. There was at least ten cars when we pulled up” you look out the window, chuckling slightly at the deserted car park. He turns his head back towards you as you look at him. You realise your still leaning over him, chest pressed against his. Your eyes flutter down to his lips quickly, before you move away. Feeling your cheeks redden at the idea of getting close with him. You both sit in silence for a while before you feel his finger under your chin, gently tilting your head to look at him. Your cheeks reddening even more. He gently runs his thumb over your bottom lip. Eyes fixed on your mouth as he smiles at you. You lean into him, his warmth and scent attracting you. This causes him to smile more. He was truly captivated by you at this moment. A car pulling up in the car park distracts you both, causing you to move away and for him to drop his hand.
“We should sleep... Busy day ahead of us tomorrow” he nods. Looking over at you before he takes his jacket off and placing it over your body
“You might get cold...” he says calmly before shutting his eyes. You pull the leather up near your nose, smelling the fabric as the previous few moments played through your head. You’d slept with him before. Of course. But that wasn’t for a while. You assumed you slept with him because he was a rebound. You assumed that’s how he saw it as well. Just a guy you slept with because you were dealing with your breakup, but who you ended up befriending in the process. So why did that moment feel so... unique. Intimate. Alluring. You shake it off. Putting it down to hormones and fluke. Shutting your eyes you drift off to sleep.
-
You were bent over the bed. Feeling him railing you from behind as his hand gripped your hair tightly causing you to moan. He felt so good, the smell of cigarette smoke and beer hitting your nose as he grunts behind you. Pushing your face down into the bed as you grip it tightly. “Eddie...” you moan out.
You wake up to the car door shutting. “Shit” you hear him say. You open your eyes and look at him. Feeling dazed from your dream. Then remembering what you had just been dreaming you feel your cheeks turn red. “Sorry. Didn’t mean to wake you. I just needed to piss” you nod, rubbing your eyes
“So glad you told me that” you look at your watch. 8:37. you let out an annoyed groan “Why did we decide to travel to a place that’s so far away” he laughs
“Hey, you decided this before you knew I was ok. So I’m not responsible for your problem”
“That doesn’t help. That just means I’m the idiot”
“Come on. Let’s go” he quickly goes through your tapes you have. “Why is your music taste so.... shit”
“I have good music taste”
“No. No you don’t” he finds one and shrugs “Till do” he puts it in. You smile and start singing as he rolls his eyes at you but smiles. You start up the car, driving for what seems like ages. Stopping to have some food on the way as you switch so he drives for another few hours. Changing back to you after about four hours. Driving for a few more five hours before, once again, finding a spot to park up so you can both rest. Pulling up near a woods that has a small picnic bench. You get out of the car, stretching before going over to the bench, leaning against it and looking at the wooded area.  He leans against the bench, both of you in silence. You go to the car, going and grabbing some crisps. Then going over to the bench and offering a packet. He takes it, opening it and eating it. “Next time we stop at a gas station can we get something to drink?”
“We have coke in the car”
“Not that kind of drink”
“Oh... sure. But you’re buying it. I’m underage” he chuckles, eating as he speaks
“So am I. It’s not going to stop me” you laugh. Both continuing to eat. Finishing and going and placing the empty bags into the car. Going back over and lining against the bench with Eddie again. You lean against the bench, lying on the top of it with your legs over the edge, feet on the seat part. Looking up at the stars. You point
“Ooh shooting star” he leans his head back and looks up. “Got to make a wish” he smiles
“What are you wishing for?”
“If I tell you then it won’t come true” he nods
“Can’t argue with that” he turns to look at you. You move your head slightly to look at him. You smile, he smiles back at you. “It’s so much calmer at night” you nod in agreement. “May I join?” he motions next to you as you nod, scooting over as he lies down. He scratches at his neck scar, frowning slightly as he feels where the wound was.
“Can I ask something?” he looks at you and nods “How badly where you bitten...? I know it was bad but... how bad?” he breaks eye contact with you, looking back at the sky. Taking in a shaky breath he sits up. You also sit up as he takes off his shirt. Revealing his scarred torso. “Oh god...” you whisper. Finger gently touching over the healed skin. You can see a sadness in his eyes as he looks down at himself. You place a hand on his cheek, forcing him to look at you “You are still an amazing guy. One of my closest friends and still very handsome. With or without these scars. Nothing can change those facts” he smiles slightly at you.
“Thank you” he says quietly. You nod, moving your hand from his cheek and looking back at the sky. He places his shirt back on, his eyes looking over at you as you admire the stars. “I’m sorry for dragging you into my shitty life”
“You didn’t drag me into anything. I’m here because I want to be” you look at him and smile “its part of the adventure” he chuckles slightly. Taking your hand in his and kissing the back of it. He leaves his mouth near your hand, gently brushing over it.
“You know... when I came too in the other place I had a lot of thoughts going through my head...” you nod slightly, his deep brown eyes meeting yours. A slight tinge of sadness in them. “I was so scared of never seeing anyone again... of being trapped in that place... it nearly drove me insane” he turns your hand over and kisses the palm of it “But the thing that helped me get out of there was you. I had seen Dustin and how he was with it all. I knew he’d be ok. Same with Wheeler and everyone. But you... I needed to know you were ok. So I made myself get up. Made myself come back here. I couldn’t protect Chrissy... and that will forever haunt me. But I can try and protect you. Now I have a head start on that weird bastard” he smiles at you “A king has to protect his queen” he smiles at you. Kissing your wrist
“That, Eddie Munson, was the most genuine thing anyone has ever said to me” he grins at you. Placing a hand on your cheek and gently rubbing your cheekbone “I’m so glad to see you again...” you smile at him, feeling tears prick at your eyes. He smiles softly at you, leaning in and gently planting a kiss onto your lips. The action causing so much joy to flow through your body. You grip at his shirt, trying to pull him closer to you. Kissing each other slowly and sweetly. Just taking in each other’s taste with no other real intent behind the soft kisses you’re exchanging. Just wanting to feel each other. Be close. You move closer to him, trying to feel him on every inch of your body. He smiles at this action, but not once do you leave each other’s lips
“God I missed how good you taste...” you blush slightly at his words. Biting your bottom lip
“What do I taste like?”
“Like strawberries and chocolate” you smile, kissing him again. The contrast of him tasting of beer and cigar being evident to you. You feel his hand trail up and down your spine and sides. It eventually rests on your hip, squeezing it slightly.
“Eddie...” you moan out quietly. He smiles. Stroking your cheek slightly before giving you a quick peck to your lips and then your forehead.
“As much as I would love to carry on I’m afraid we should get back to the car and sleep. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow” you pout at him, gripping his shirt slightly as a means to keep him close to you. He takes a hold of the balled up fists. Kissing the knuckles gently before standing up. Outstretching his hand towards you. You take it, letting him lead you to the car and opening the passenger door. You get in
“Such a gentlemen” he grins and bows slightly. Shutting the door and getting into the driver’s seat. You both chat for about 30 minutes more until you both let sleep take over you both.

Bungo Stray Dogs Season 3 Anime Review
Includes Spoilers
Tumblr media
Now this was a season that covered alot and I loved every minute of it. so far each season I swear gets better and I'm so in love with the plot, characters, everything. I've come along ways from when I first started but think my top 5 stand strong now Chuuya, Akutagawa, Atsushi, Dazai, & Kunikida. Don't get me wrong when Sakunosuke Oda was alive he was my number 4 over Dazai but since he isn't anymore thats my new order based on season 3.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I honestly wasn't expecting to like the show down between the two factions with Yukichi Fukuzawa versus Ōgai Mori. I haven't once ever cared for Mori and even in this season I still don't. Its not like he wouldn't be a good character however he is so stuck on his daughter with her powers saving his filthy ass. I just read over this character and seems like its not his daughter yet sometimes he calls her his wife... I'm gonna leave it at that cause that just got weirder for me. Like grow some balls dude. Then there is Fukuzawa he oh my god he is a bad ass. His personality to me is like Kunkida you don't see his gentle side right off the bat and he grows on you in time but once he does you can enjoy the character how should have be. When he got killed I was gonna lose my shit so I was happy his death didn't stick.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Up until this season I always felt for Higuchi being in love with Akutagawa but by this season you realize she has a very unhealthy obsession over him not quiet the same. Bot sure where there future can go from here and I really do feel like she is in love with him but sadly I feel like he doesn't think he is worthy of love which is why he shows none to no one more than his sister really. What I don't get is how she couldn't look at gin beside her brother and tell they were siblings I could. Her jealousy streak kicked in and that was the end of that, even to the point she was willing to push Atsushi into dating her to keep her sweet Akutagawa to herself. I feel what you saw in the first season of how she would die for him and how he thanked her I think if he thought more highly of himself he might actually could be accepting of something with her. She is the only one who cares not on what he has done but would be willing to stand by and die by his side.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now lets take a stroll back to Chuuya and his past as a 15 year old and up. Damn he was hot even as a kid FFS. Anyways so many people ship him with Dazai but by this season if there was a ounce of me that thought it should happened it died here. Now let me explain so you see how they meet and they hate each other from the start. Chuuya is in a mission to take down port mafia for destroying the city he calls home. He works along other kids to do this, however Dazai brings him into Mori and this is where Chuuya's life gets changed. However he still hates them he is willing to work with them to get to a bigger picture in what he sees as a way to still take them down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then you have Dazai who goes out of his way to let Chuuya's friends know he is with the mafia now even though he hasn't actually signed on. Dazai is a master manipulator and when Chuuya had his friends try to kill him because they thought he was a traitor Dazai stepped in telling him only if he joins the port mafia will he protect the kids and wipe the rest out so he agrees. Like seriously how can someone ship that bullshit Chuuya is such a better man. Only reason Dazai stays on my list is because he still is a likable character but he has fucked over alot of people. I mean he wonders why Chuuya hates him yes he trusts him with his life but still hates him because after dragging his life into the mafia Dazai just leaves one day without even a word. I will say though I love his attitude from the start its super hot in my book.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I'm not a fan of these two together and the fact they ended up at one point because of her powers naked together I just was a bit irritated. She is like a hateful tsundere chick yet always blames him for everything. He is so much better with Kyouka and more chemistry too. Plus even though I know some ship these two its one sided on Lucy. I saw this because time and time again he has showed he would die to protect Kyouka even sleeps in her closet to be by her side. We all know Lucy is selfish she has no issue sacrificing him if need be but Kyoka won't she has time and time again put her life on hold for him as well I think thats why I think they are a healthier ship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kyouka and Atsushi are just too cute together and don't get me wrong the closet scene is from the movie I had forgot to mention it but after showing proof him and Lucy should never be together I felt it was necessary to show this when talking about these two ships together. There is nothing else that works for me and I will ship them too the end. Plus I think they need each other like nothing else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Watching Atsushi struggle with the only man he knew as a father die was heartfelt. I understood why he hated him and why it hurt to even think about however Dazai was right in one thing he said to him that he wouldn't be the man he turned out to be if he hadn't been raised the way he was. Then when he started crying after that made me tear up I love Atsushi his heart is so good he is the cinnamon roll of this show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then when they showed Kyouka as a child after watching her parents killed right in front of her broke my heart. Like seconds before it all happened her father was talking about how happy he was to spend more time with his wife and daughter then all this goes down and her life is forever changed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Watching Kunkida break after watching the child that Fyodor had kill herself in front of him. No matter what this man loves kids and I think would make an absolute great father. Like seriously to me he reminds me alot of Sakunosuke for that with his orphan kids. These men would make the best fathers of all the men on this show. It so hurts to watch him hurt though so I felt for him in this scene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok am I the only one that hates Fyodor like sure he is hot in a psychotic kind of way. I feel like he would be the yandere of this show thats for sure but I don't know he is just heartless I can't like him in any way. Shoot I like Mori more than this son of a bitch. I can see going fourth I'm going to hate seeing him on the show over and over again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok Ranpo taking on Chuuya was pretty hot not gonna lie. Like his attitude his confidence I think the first time I found this man sexy as fuck. I think Chuuya is better but still you go Ranpo bout time you step that sex appeal up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That moment when Kyouka tries to kill Akutagawa was very memorable but even more so that when she didn't succeed and for the first time he tells her he sees she has changed and found happiness and that he is happy for her. He proved even to her he isn't all bad he does have a heart no matter how much he tries to hide it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two fight and tell each other off but in the end they fight well together. I also believe they understand each other way more than they even realize. You even see when he lends him his powers so he can beat the bad guy in the end of this season. He asks why he fights and I guess he liked and respected his answer so instead of them both dying they both fought to survive as they always did. Its funny to see how Atsushi is coddled by Dazai making him better but yet he Dazai was also the man to break both Chuuya and Akutagawa.

i think a lot of tumblr has weirdly strong feelings and opinions on Neil Gaiman and Good Omens like it's popular and popular to hate and victim to Tumblr Discourse, there's a loud subset of (usually young but not always uhg) fans that are obnoxious uwu soft bean terminally online types, and there's a a kind of reactionary hatred and criticism for Neil and Gomens itself (and laugh at me if you must but there is some of that coming from a homophobic, transphobic, abliest place. it is not coincidence that these reactionary hate for fandoms is worst when a fandom is predominantly queer and neurodivergent like i get it whatever we all need someone to bully not the point here) and there are PLENTY of things to not like about the man, the show, and the fandom but like
one sentiment i see going around in the wake of s2 is that Neil Gaiman is just a Bad Writer which like. objectively doesn't really add up. in terms of technical skill and success of his work? he's very skilled and respected as a writer, he's considered a master of his craft, he's won awards, yknow? whether the stories he tells are compelling or interesting or important is subjective, hate em all you want, but he is TECHNICALLY a good writer which leads me to my main question
WTF happened to s2 of Gomens????? like i liked s1 enough to watch it 3 or 4 times, i loved the book in high school, i was excited for new content despite my misgivings about extending a completed story! and this is what we get? the major worldbuild hook, an arch-angel thrown out of heaven without his memories now in the care of the angel and demon who saved the world from said arch-angel essentially, is a fucking C plot after fanservice azi/crow flashbacks and a weird uncomfortable not-romance between two random new characters (and this isn't even mentioning the major spoilers for way stupider plot decisions). none of the humans from s1 are there. there's 0 tension (except for in the final cliffhanger scene) bc they just. basically say "nah no you wont" and fix all their problems. literal deus ex machina resolution. the writing is bad, the ACTING is bad in the case of the weird ass Beelzebub recast (WHY would you draw attention to it by mentioning they look different TWICE) who moves like a tiktok teenager and can't lipsynch and oh yeah has a completely different personality. i get that some things were on purpose, i see the hints and foreshadowing for a s3, i get that some ooc-ness of characters is likely to be revealed as part of a bigger plot eventually but y'all. i sat through this Bad season of TV hoping the few interesting and genuinely cute moments would pay off, and they did not. why would i wait for another season of this shit to actually resolve anything?
I'm just fuckin disappointed in it yknow it was a total fanfiction of itself and i have literally read better gomens fic than what s2 did

YOU ARE WATCHING INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE!! OH MY GOD TELL ME YOUR TAKES!
I just finished it last night.
Where do I start from?
1. Louis must serve million-dollar-dick because the men around him are obsessed. Even the angry, bitter writer can't seem to hide his boner long enough to deliver his sass, completely.
2. Lestat? Oh Lestat. I had, maybe two seconds of pitying him when he was trying to grovel but then Claudia exposed him and I was like, "Yup. Sounds right." Words cannot express how much I do not like this man. And the fact that he lulls Louis into a false sense of security and equality??? Over and over and over? He lied. Every single time they gave him a chance, he held something back. And yet, he wanted a "family". At least he was honest with Claudia as to why he wanted to keep her around.
3. Can I just say that I LOVE that the show outrightly stated that Louis and Claudia were his slaves? None of that subtext, maker-in-place-of-slave-master bull shit. Because the show did that, in the beginning. I was worried that they'd leave it at that. That they'd just use the word "maker" as an excuse for how he treats them. But then, BAM, Claudia calls them his slaves and I was in HEAVEN about it.
4. I love that Daniel is so astute. Yeah, he was horny in every interview but Louis' sultry eyes or EVERYTHING ABOUT RASHID, wasn't enough to pull the curtain over Daniel. He was like, "Eh, you're hot, but was it raining or not?"🤣 what the fuck did Louis expect? Didn't he do his research before he hired Daniel? Didn't he know that this man was intrepid and so, so mean? Whenever he called Louis back to review a plot hole or expand on something Louis wanted to gloss over, I loved that.
Also, that scene where Louis was feeding on Rashid and Daniel couldn't concentrate because he kept thinking about what Rashid would taste like????????👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀 (there was a threesome in the flashback that Daniel has forgotten. I won't believe otherwise)
5. Claudia! Iconic! Brilliant! Mind-blowing! Best girl! Queen! I heard spoilers about her but I am going to choose to believe that the show will not do what the books did. That girl is life. She was the perfect foil for Lestat. And I love that Louis didn't and couldn't turn her. So they had their little mind corner to hide from Lestat. That chess game where she walked away??? That was the best performance from anyone on the show. I was screaming along with Lestat, but unlike him, I was screaming in joy. A boss! His powerless rage was the best thing. Especially since we know he's not actually powerless. So we know that what's holding him back is his affection for Louis. It was all she had against lestat and she weilded that weapon to perfection.
Her plan to get rid of him? Chef's kiss. I just wish... *sigh* Daniel said her diary, after they left New Orleans, showed resentment towards Louis and rightly so. They had a plan and he flaked out. Just like he did when he told her to go alone. Fucking Louis. Lestat was right. Louis sucks at choosing.
6. Rashid? He is the most beautiful person on the planet. I will not debate this anyone. When he was a fragile twink who was willingly offering his blood, pumping himself full of honey for days just to be sweet for Louis, he was perfect. When he watched the exchange between Daniel and Louis from the sidelines like a helpless lover, eager to defend Louis at every turn, he was perfect. But when he (spoilers) became the old, powerful vampire who was impervious to the sun???????? My coochie fell out. I'm sorry. I had to take a moment. I think I stopped breathing.
I have found a new actor to obsess over. Thank you, AMC.
I've seen spoilers on the Internet that he's going to be worse than Lestat. 😭 Louis was already giving captive-in-a-cage when he introduced Armand. I can't even imagine what season 2 will do to my sexy baby, Louis. 😭😭😭
7. I HATED LOUIS' FAMILY.
His mother was the worst. The fact that they were living in a house paid for by Louis' whore houses, and still had the mind to be sanctimonious was so frustrating. The brother-in-law... oh god. I wanted to slap him. And his sister? She grew irritating everytime I saw her.
The fact that she called him to judge AND BURY HIM, because she wanted to move on was so annoying. She could have done what she wanted and left. But she needed him to hear, one last time, that he was dead to her and that the new him was fake and wicked. Just, why? What was the reason? She lowkey became her mother.
All in all, I loved this show. I'm glad I waited till it was done or I would have been frustrated, waiting for new episodes. I loved every moment of it. I will rewatch it. I will re-rewatch. I will hate every moment of waiting for the next season. Fucking AMC, who wants your fucking 7 episode bullshit???? Why did you make it so fucking short????

My favorite YouTuber is back and with a bang for the spooky season! Good on ya Victor for capturing me in to these stories already! Okay but seriously I've already been doing an analysis on the one video and I'm about to spill my thoughts, spoiler warning! More under the cut.
The first guy who died in the cave was a guy named Rocky, keep a pin in this because we're going to come back to it. This man died in the cave in 1957, then the SCP foundation show up. A man by the name of Dr. Pierce seems to be the manager of the study on the cave. Next guy to go in as a test subject is someone who I'll refer to as prisoner 1, or P1. This guy sounded to have a welsh accent like Duck, and was referred to as D7426 by Dr. Peirce and I've been trying to recall back to any of the other faced machines that were built after 1957. This also has another pin in it, we're coming back to it as well. After P1 dies in the cave a spirit/soul is seen leaving it, this spirit/soul was Alexander Jeffries, the late station master of Elsbridge who had passed away years prior at his own workplace. He was revived right down to his living flesh and bone. Toby was the first person to come across him and assumed at first he was a ghost, at first Jefferies didn't realize he was alive again until Toby brought it up. He had an interesting reaction that was eerily similar to this one-
youtube
From 23:00 to 24:00 Brian had the same freak out that Jeffries did, if the brake van had been human I'm sure he would of had a heart attack as well. And he had the exact same story to tell, he remembered dying to the blitz on London but is miraculously still alive as the ending of the episode spotlights on. Now we start getting to the good bit, this is another pin I'll ask you to remember. Prisoner 2 or P2 was referred to as D5702 by Dr. Percie, but it was revealed his name was Bobby Cooper. P2 went into the cave and perished and another soul left, we unfortunately did not see who it belonged to. 3 more prisoners are sent into the cave. P3 went in and we did not see who the soul was that left the cave, P4 did not go into the cave and when they tried to run back they were shot and killed, P5 went in and again we did not see who the soul was that left the cave. In 1958 we see a familiar face with a familiar number. Boco with the number D5702 on his cab side, and a familiar voice to match P2s. The foundation interviews him and it is revealed that Boco is a nickname for Bobby Cooper, this confirming the revenant theory that has been mentioned a few times in the series by now. Afterwards with this revelation the foundation continued experiments for a while before they had to stop since they couldn't track the souls that were leaving the cave. We have no clue how many more were killed and how many more revived souls are on Sodor, and that's just with the foundation. It has been said that many people have gone up hiking to the top of Culldee Fell and have never returned, even after it was made illegal to do so. At the end of the episode we see an imposing-looking man hike to the top of the mountain despite the fines and enter the cave. He perishes and another soul escapes. This soul is seen to be the spiteful brake van Dominick who was found by none other than Douglas. I have a personal theory that the last man we saw enter was the man who will become Diesel 10, or as he's named in this series, Joshua or Josh. The year the foundation seemed to leave was 1958, and the class 42 that Diesel 10 was modeled after was built from 1958 to 1961. So it is plausable. And the first man Rocky is also the name of a ttte character we see, Rocky the breakdown crane. I'm wondering if we might see him someday. But on another note, we have 3 unaccounted for free souls that have been revived along with the other souls from off-screen, I'd like to think that any of these could be Colin, Lily, Adam, Alfred or maybe even Mr. Star. But I doubt it as Edward would have probably mentioned it by the end. So we have a confirmation that every living person that goes into the cave becomes reincarnated, and every soul we see leave revives someone from the dead. And this was only the first episode! I'm so excited to see more!

Man oh man do I have a Fortnitemares concept idea well into fucking February. :') Also heads up, some spoilers for STW's main story and seasonal questlines down below
Y'all remember Dark Ray? From the Long Way Home Questline? And how she was from an alternate reality where she became """evil""" because she failed to save Homebase? What if there were also bad timeline versions of the other 3 Homebots (Kevin, Pop, and Lok) and ended up reforming into a bad end version of the group.
Pop I'd feel would be based off his little evil arc from early-mid Plankerton. Never quite got off it and maybe went off the deep end and eventually somehow got the commander killed through his "pranks" and just kinda throw Homebase off kilter. After all is said and done, he'd probably have the realization that "shit, I really don't have anyone from home left". Not quite to the extent of Dark Ray's, but he'd have the Epiphany. Whilst he wouldn't exactly be helpful, he'd also maybe not try to get anyone killed— instead just taking it out on wild husks and in turn become a well versed fighter.
Lok would most definitely be based off the Tales of Beyond Questline where he encounters the cube. Instead of the cube just up and leaving after it ends, he'd probably have some form of cube corruption seen in characters from BR (Dark Bomber, Dark Red Knight, etc.)— but would have gained some powers in return. Mostly 1. Being able to see into the future like Dark Jonesy in Ch2S8; 2. The ability to control a little cube magic (think Glyph Master Raz boss from ch2s6); and 3. Lightning. Little man is a toaster and a robot so that would probably just come natural to him.
Kevin... Kevin is a weird case because he barely shows up in the game at all. Only things we know about him is that he's the local technologist/engineer, a bit of a neat freak, may or may not have anger issues, almost nobody at homebase likes him aside from Kyle, Ned, and most likely Lok because he doesn't have a single hateful bone in his body, and can possibly even run Homebase in the case Ray isn't there. Legitimately the most this gay lil robot has spoken was in the Clip's Nightmare Questline which hasn't returned, in which it seems he actually has a little friendship going on with Carter since she doesn't instantly hate him. So yeah, not much to work with on him. I was thinking maybe a version of him where he somehow gets involved with ghosts and the Door to Darkness? Another where he gets involved with the cube (because know, Kevin and Kevin). It was hard, but recent events just gave me an idea for him. In the recent update, we got a leak of ch4s2's STW pack which contains Ned. More specifically the time traveling one from The Long Road Home. And with him he has Kevin. Like actual Kevin. Not only is he cute as fuck, but it gave me an idea. Maybe sometime after the events of Canny, this version of Kevin wanted to continue Desiree's work on rifts to see how it would help stop the storm. And whist doing this research ends up getting stuck in a rift that went through multiple realities, some of them from the same world he was from— but something was different. He couldn't find the one that was his own and kept traveling from rift to rift. In turn, it would affect him by having different parts of him from different realities merge and himself constan stabilizing and destabilizing. It would be like he simultaneously would exist in multiple realities and none. Think of what happened with Eternal Voyager in Batman: Zero Point— but he was able to keep himself together somehow.
As for how'd they'd find each other, I would say it would be in part thanks to Rift Kevin and he'd find the different versions of his siblings and take them along with him so they wouldn't have to be in these realities that had ended this way.

Hey there! I've been searching for Eddie Munson fics to read ;; do you think you can come up with a scenario where Eddie meets will? That would be fantastic!!!! <3
Hello! Thank you so much for requesting something, here's my shot at it!
A quick note: I’m currently on Episode 6 of the fourth season, so if anything here strays from being accurate to the show, I apologize. I took liberties with one character; this being the black haired FBI agent, so that the story could logically work in the way I’m telling it. I don’t know yet if the issue with Eddie and the murder trial is resolved or how if so; if it is I apologize. So in a nutshell, I’m sorry if this strays too far from canon, I haven’t finished the season. I plan to finish it tonight so fics posted in the future will be better accurate. :)
Summary: It’s been a year since Vecna’s murderous reign of terror befell Hawkins, Indiana, and things seem to have finally settled. There haven't been any gruesome deaths. Eddie has, via complicated FBI and law enforcement entanglement in the name of a request from Eleven, been freed of his charges. Finally, and most importantly to Mike, Dustin and Lucas, the Byers family have come to celebrate El and Will’s sixteenth birthday in Hawkins. With a week left in the Byers’ stay in Indiana, a ‘legendary’ (in the words of Dustin) DND oneshot is set into motion, with two Dungeon Masters: Will Byers and Eddie Munson.
Ships: None
Cw: Discussions/mentions of prison, mentions of the death penalty (aka Eddie misunderstanding something and for a second thinking he’s getting the death sentence when he isn’t)
Word Count: 3,180
!SPOILER WARNING FOR SEASON 4 OF STRANGER THINGS!
Tumblr media
-This GIF does not belong to me and was made by Ildre-
A night of DND
It was a year ago that Eddie Munson watched in helpless horror as his customer and, more importantly to him, potential friend Chrissie Cunningham floated to the ceiling. One year ago her body bent in ways inhuman and broke with such little effort no person could have done it; but still the town blamed him. Still he was arrested on two counts of first degree murder, possession of illegal substances, and distributing said illegal substances to minors.
There’s a clanging on the bars of his cell. He looks up to find a tall, sharply dressed woman with cropped black hair holding out a badge identifying her as a member of the FBI.
“Hi?” He mumbles, clasping his trembling hands and clenching his clammy palms together.
This is it, I’m going to die, my sixty year sentence just became a death sentence he thinks as the door is unlocked and the woman steps in.
“Hello.” Says the woman, tight lipped as she takes a plastic chair and sits before him. He shrinks further into the concrete bench, afraid, a shell of the bold man he once was.
“Is this where you, like, tell me I’m going to die? Did they give me the death sentence? Or, fuck, are you recruiting me for some fucked up experiment as punishment for the ‘crimes’ I didn’t even commit?”
Humorlessly, the woman shakes her head.
“Quite the opposite, Mister Munson. You’re free.”
The news ignites in Eddie similar to a spark catching drybrush. In an instant his hollow, fearful soul ignites and burns with hope. Hope for freedom intertwines with joy. His heart races; he grins, leaping from his bench and sweeping his hands through his matted hair.
“Seriously? I am?” He practically shrieks, “Why? What happened? Did they figure out I’m innocent?”
“That’s classified information that I’m afraid I can’t tell you.”
A cold hallway, a crying girl, objects floating in the air. They clatter to the ground as the woman steps forward, reaching a shaky hand to the girl. A promise made between child and adult. Of safety. Of fulfillment.
An escape. Flames bursting on her back as she yells to Jane, Jane Hopper, to run.
 I’ll find you. Now go.
Burying herself in the rubble as guards and staff rush to the scene, silent prayers that the girl makes it.
The Nevada Desert, far from home. A month after Jane’s escape. She sits across from Jane, the two sipping milkshakes in the early hours of Monday morning.
You’ve been through more than I can defend, Jane. I’m sorry. I understand if you don’t trust me, and it won’t make up for the things they’ve done to you, but ask me for a few things, and I’ll do them.
A plea for freedom; not just for herself but her friends and their friends. Eddie Munson’s name is mentioned.
He didn’t do anything, please, let him go, Miss. You can cover it up.
Justification among colleagues, lies suppressed, an appeal. A bribe.
They’ve all led to this moment, where she fulfills one of the poor girl’s four requests.
“Y’know what, if it means I get outta here, I won’t push it.” Eddie takes her hands and squeezes them, falling to his knees and looking up at her through teary eyes. “Thank you, god, thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you-”
She silences him as she leads him out of his cell.
The affairs of the day pass in a blur. He’s given clothes brought in by his uncle; trades his orange jumpsuit for a familiar pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and denim vest. He’s crushed in a tearful embrace by said uncle, who whispers in his hair that he knew he was innocent. To the public all they know is that they found further evidence from remains and the sites of the murders that proves Eddie Munson isn’t the perpetrator. Many are skeptical, however, there are also many who believe the court’s new ruling. Eddie falls apart in his uncle’s car on the ride home to a place he’s never seen; sobs as he grins. He eats dinner as his uncle speaks on the phone with an alternative school. He opens the door to their house after hearing a knock and finds the Hellfire Club crowding at his doorstep, some teary and some joyous.
They sit in Eddie’s new room; bare with all his possessions packed away in boxes and his furniture in the garage. He doesn’t care that he’s going to be sleeping on the floor, he probably won’t get to bed anyway with their shenanigans.
It’s three in the morning when Dustin jolts as though he’s been shocked and points at Eddie.
“You! You’ve got to come to my friends’ birthday party, you’ll love them! I told them both all about you, they love you!”
“Dustin, I’m twenty-one now. I’m not some kiddy babysitter.”
“Hey, the last time you said that, you gained a super valuable player!” He gestures to Erica, who preenfully grins at the praise. “Besides, they’re turning sixteen. It’s not like you’re going to a six year old’s birthday. And,” he drags out the ‘n’, “one of them plays Dungeons and Dragons.”
At this Eddie’s interest is piqued, his head snapping to meet Dustin’s hopeful gaze. He reaches his hand out and, over a firm handshake, says: “I’m in.”
Eddie’s banged up van rolls into Hopper’s driveway at 5:55 p.m, five minutes before he’s expected. The lights from inside the sheriff’s new cabin illuminate the forest in swaths of gold. Silhouettes dance through the panes of glass, moving to the beat of some pop song Eddie’s not heard in years.
He takes cautious steps down the driveway, opening the front door slowly.
“Eddie! Guys, guys, Eddie’s here!” Shouts the familiar voice of Dustin.
Sitting on the couch are Steve Harrington, Jonathan Byers, Nancy Wheeler, and Robin Buckley. He only recognizes three of them but Dustin quickly introduces him to Jonathan and his friend Argyle, who hovers near the couch as well with a can of Dr Pibb. In the corner he recognizes the FBI agent who freed him, smiling and talking to a girl with shaggy hair. He also recognizes Max, who gives him a hug and says how she’s glad he’s back. He’s called over to the couch once more, where more arms fling themselves around him and congratulations ring out. Soon after the introductions are finished, including between Eddie and the owner of the house and his companion Joyce, Eddie seats himself at the table. His gifts, boxed in shittily wrapped up boxes and topped with a card each, sit in a pile with the other gifts. As he looks around he finds the birthday kids: a guy with a goofy looking bowl cut and the girl with shaggy hair. He wears a suit without the jacket and she wears a flannel dress with boots. Their names, as they tell him, are Will and Jane, also known as El.
Eddie stands. He feels underdressed in his leather jacket, shirt, and jeans, but takes each of their hands in his and shakes, wishing them a happy birthday.
A cake is cut and ice cream is scooped. People sing, Eddie joins in. He eats and laughs as he talks with everyone else, making obscene jokes and shocking everyone happily.
This moment, this place, these people are warm. It’s all safe, it’s all good, it’s home. He’s found his new family, he’s welcomed, he’s loved and he loves, too.
When his gifts are unwrapped he grins at the screams of excitement: a collage kit, art book, and paint set for El; a new DND book, board, and set of miniatures for Will. They throw their arms around him, squeezing the life half out of him. Suddenly spending all his pocket money and a little from his leftover savings (stored in a shoebox he kept dutifully hidden under his bed and which his uncle put into an actual account half a year ago) is incredibly worth it.
The excitement of celebration causes the hours to fly in a haze of joy. When finally everything settles again, it’s two in the morning. The teenagers sit around in the living room as the adults lumber off to bed, only the agent staying in the living room for a few spare moments before leaving the house with a final goodbye to them all.
“So, Will.” Eddie says, lunging to his feet. “I hear you’re a connoisseur of Dungeons and Dragons?” With a twirl of his hand he emphasizes the Dungeons and Dragons.
Will snorts awkwardly, nodding with a smile.
“Great! C’mon, I’ve got a great idea. You’re here for another week, right?”
“Oh, uh, yeah. Why? Do you want me to make a character?”
 “Even better than that, kid!”
Eddie takes a pad of paper and plops himself beside Will.
“Two Dungeon Masters, twice the fun, eh?”
Will’s eyes pop open, jaw dropping at the idea. He nods vigorously.
“I don’t even know how that’ll work but that sounds awesome! Let’s do it!”
“Great! So it’ll have to be a oneshot; I’m not paying by the hour over the phone so you can keep running this campaign with me once you’re back in Arizona.”
 “California.”
“Right, California, same thing. Anyway, that’s not important! What’re we gonna do? Oh! Before that, however!” He shoots up again, his sporadic nature not nearly dampened by his year in prison. “Who’s in?”
Robin, Jonathan, Argyle, Lucas, Erica, Dustin, and Mike’s hands rise into the air with lightning speed. Eleven’s hand slowly follows. Eddie counts, writing their names on the pad of paper.
“Looks like we’ve got some fans, eh?” Eddie jokes.
After he shoves that sheet into his pocket, it’s back to the drawing board for those involved. Nancy, Steve, and Max resort to listening in out of curiosity.
Suggestions fling through the room faster than Eddie and Will can write them down. Some are good, like Erica’s idea of valkyries being involved. Some are awful, like Argyle’s suggestion of them fighting a ginormous pizza. But, as the sun begins to crest the horizon and paint the sky in lavender and pink, they lay out the papers of a fully planned oneshot. Their eyes are red and exhaustion weighs heavy on them, but it is drowned out in the accomplishment and excitement that buzzes through them.
They sleep in a pile on the floor, unbothered, until three in the afternoon.
It’s Wednesday that the game is scheduled, four days after Eddie and Will became acquainted with one another. And, at 3:30 pm Wednesday, Will’s bike stops before an abandoned automobile shop. Upon entering the lights flicker on and he shields his gaze, confused and slightly nervous.
Standing by the lightswitch is his fellow dungeon master Eddie Munson, who hurries to the table they’ll set everything up on.
“Why’re we doing this in an abandoned building?” Will asks.
“Well we used to do these types of things at Hawkins High, but, something tells me if I showed my face there I’d get sniped or some shit like that, so we’re just using the ol’ junkyard.”
An awkward silence permeates the air as dice and boards are laid out.
“Remember the battle plan, my young friend. The valkyrie have come to ask our players for help on their holy crusade against the mandibulas.”
“The mandibulas, right. Did you make a stat block for them?”
“Absofuckin’lutely I did! I don’t have anything else to do, my alternate education doesn’t start ‘till September.”
Eddie slides a piece of paper over with a poorly drawn demon that has a comically large mouth. In his scratchy lettering are the hit points and attacks of their made up enemies, the mandibulas. Will smiles as he sets the paper down again.
“I think they’re gonna hate us,”
“Good! They’ll hate it, and then, when they win, it’ll be even more fun for them.” As he speaks, Eddie pantomimes what he says, embodying his words quite literally.
“You really don’t stop going, do you?” Will jokes.
“Nope! I’ve wasted a year being all drab and shit, I’m tired of it!”
“I guess that makes sense. Y’know, you’re a lot more optimistic than I am about that kinda thing. I’m still… sad and it’s been, what, three years since my thing? Four?”
“Now you listen to me and you listen good.”
With the seriousness in Eddie’s voice, Will can do nothing but focus and listen.
“Look at your problems. You look at the world and all the assholes in it and you mash them up with your problems and you walk right up to them. You walk right up to them, you see, and you give ‘em the bird, and you say ‘fuck you. I’m gonna live my life and your shittiness isn’t gonna stop me’. Now I’ve heard you’ve been through some shit Will and, to be honest, I don’t know what it is but I can imagine it was bad. So you’re fine to not be as optimistic as some dipshit who barely got his toes wet when it comes to bad shit. Alright? No matter how you’re feeling it’s fine. And I’m telling you that because when I was your age there wasn’t anyone to tell me that. Sound good?”
Will sits, a hopeful smile on his face. Has he just befriended the coolest guy ever? Well, aside from Mike and Lucas, of course. Sorry Dustin. He looks up at Eddie and grins, chuckling ever slightly.
 “What? I’m serious!”
“I believe you! I know you are! And, well, thanks. I’ve never had someone tell me all that advice before.”
Bits and pieces of it have of course been told to him from the likes of his mother and brother, but, never in the free-thinking and wild way Eddie Munson has just presented it to him.
“‘Course, kid. We’re all fucked up. We’ve just gotta help each other through our fucked upness.”
The door creaks open just as Will goes to respond, Jonathan and Argyle busting in with bottles of soda and boxes of pizza in tow.
“Please tell me you didn’t get pepperoni,” Eddie harps as he opens the box, groaning at the pepperoni wedges.
“Sorry dude, thought you said get pepperoni when you called.”
“It’s fine, Argyle. We appreciate you coming early,” Will pipes up, “have a seat.”
At 4:15 pm, the game begins, everyone having arrived in succession. Lucas and Erica after Jonathan and Argyle, then Dustin, then Mike and El and, finally Robin, who comes five minutes late. Five minutes after the game starts Jonathan and Argyle woop and the others roll their eyes.
Will watches as his friends erupt in roars when the villain is revealed and he cannot help but laugh, letting Eddie take over as he snorts and wheezes.
“He takes your head in his meaty hand and, with his claws digging into your flesh, flings you into the wall!” A d6 is rolled. “4 bludgeoning damage.”
 “Fuck, I’m dead!” Yells Argyle.
“Not on my watch!” Says Erica, whose cleric uses her turn to heal Argyle’s barbarian fairy named Chad.
“Will, passing the game over to you so I can eat!”
“Oh, uh, alright-” he looks at their plot setup and begins to read the monologue of the main villain, Eddie giving him the occasional approving nod or thumbs-up as he DMs the rest of the fight.
“Standing in the aftermath of a mighty battle,” Eddie begins, “you find that the village people have run out of their homes to come and thank you,” finishes Will.
“You are forever heroes to the people of Gikla, and shall have statues built in your honor.”
 “Congratulations.” Will concludes.
The board is tipped down and a whooping applause erupts among the players. Laughter and jokes are exchanged in earnest as lively conversation blooms, the after-high of winning leaving everyone giddy.
It’s about midnight where people begin to head home. First go El and Mike, then Erica and Lucas. Soon after them, Argyle and Jonathan go, motioning for Will to follow as they head out to the car. Will stops in the doorway, however, and turns to look at Eddie and Dustin.
“Hey Eddie, thanks man. Thanks for everything. Your advice and co-DMing was appreciated.”
 “Any time, Byers.”
 A car horn honks outside.
“Gotta go, bye Dustin! Bye Eddie!”
With that, Eddie and Dustin are left to stand alone, Eddie packing his things and walking with Dustin back to his van.
 “To your mom’s, right?”
“Yeah, just like the old times!”
 “Yep, just like old times.”
After a long stretch of silence during the drive, Dustin speaks.
“Dude, he like, totally looks up to you now.”
 “Who?”
“Will! You’re probably like another brother to him already.”
 “Really now?”
“Yeah! Guess that makes two of us now.”
Eddie smiles, sparing a quick glance at Dustin’s happy expression before turning into Dustin’s neighborhood.
“Oh you kids really shouldn’t be looking up to me.”
“We know, but we will anyway!”
“I’ll convert you to satanism,” Eddie chides lightheartedly, rolling his eyes as he pulls to a stop in front of Dustin’s house. Dustin snorts.
“Well, thanks for taking me home, Ed! Maybe we could get a new campaign started soon!”
 “Definitely not with Vecna though.”
 “Yeah, no, not with Vecna.”
After a few final jokes and goodbyes, Eddie drives off, turning on the radio. His drive back to his uncle’s house is serene, filled with happy thoughts about his friends.
 They look up to me.
That’s so weird, they look up to me!
He cranks the radio up to its highest setting, speeding down the empty roads.
Maybe Dustin’s right, being the babysitter isn’t all that bad.

WHAT DO U THINK AB SEASON FOUR? it literally killed me
it ended me. im gone.
in case you don't wanna read my long ass post — TL;DR: i'm in shambles + if you haven't watched stranger things
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR + WATCH IT RIGHT NOW
stranger things season 4 spoilers below the cut in case any of y'all haven't seen it yet
it was truly the most amazing season finale i've ever seen. i watched it in the pitch dark in my basement on our biggest tv and it was a spiritual experience im not even kidding. it was like a movie and one of the best movies i've ever seen???
i cried 3 separate times and while i realize none of y'all know me well enough to understand this, that is a BIG DEAL. I DONT CRY ABOUT THIS STUFF. i refuse to allow myself to cry over fictional characters. i saw the fault in our stars, i saw elvis, i saw titanic, i've seen them all. not a single tear. this is the first tv show to ever make me cry, i swear to god.
the music + the use of kate bush throughout the season was incredible like i can't even explain it. it was employed so perfectly. i got goosebumps several times throughout the season. master of puppets was the perfect vibe for that scene where steve, robin, and nance are entering the house and of course eddie. the separate ways epic version??? like please
YOU ALREADY KNOW WE'RE GONNA HAVE A FULL ON DISCUSSION ABOUT EDDIE BECAUSE ?????? he's not dead i refuse. dustin needs him. I NEED HIM. i literally cried during two separate scenes with eddie in the finale it was fucking brutal knowing what was coming 😭 and his guitar solo was magnificent. i just think he was a great character + i want him and chrissy to come back so they can be together ok thanks
as i told my besties, i was both living and dying at the same time. i can't believe i'm being expected to wait another 2 years for season 5 and then that'll be it. i'm pre-devastated
i will seriously be telling every person i know to watch this show. like every single episode got better and better and that's something i've never experienced before.
as someone who refused to watch it for a long time because i thought it would be " basic " I WAS WRONG. it's just....it's so GOOD 😭 😭
what do i do with myself now idek

Masters of the Universe:  Revolution, Ep.3 – More Things in Heaven and Eternia (Spoilers)
One consensus I have seen on the internet is that this season is too short and that the story didn’t have a chance to grow.  This is absolutely true.  It also makes parts of the story very…not confusing in the sense that the story doesn’t make sense, but more in a “oh, well that was poorly/not explained.”
For instance, I though He-Man was going to find the person to boost the power of the sword.  Which is why I was confused as to why he gave it to Orko.  But, no, it turns out Orko and Duncan actually find this person and…holy crap, the Master of the Universe movie is cannon?!  Anyway, the two most annoying characters in the universe try to outdo each other in trying my patience, but will ultimately learn that they have to use both science and magic to make the sword more powerful.  I won’t be spending much time on them.
Also, confusing…does Skeletor have a magic transporter, ‘cause he seems to be just popping up everywhere.
Also, also confusing…and infuriating, at the beginning Hordak is speaking to Motherboard when Skeletor pops into the conversation.  Long story short, we find out Skeletor doesn’t know that Keldor was a real person.  Which, at first, I thought this would be really interesting as I figured this would be something he’d discover maybe in the next episode and wondered what his reaction would be.  Nope, two minutes later (after being knocked around by Motherboard), Skeletor just so happens to regain his memories.  And, as I figured, he became Skeletor under the service of Hordak; specifically when he, it seems, was asked to retrieve what would become his staff.  Also, interestingly enough, they do hint at the abduction of Adora.  We see Hordak and Skeletor in the royal nursery.  We can tell Hordak is holding something, but we can’t see what.  I’m guessing this means they may be trying to work with Dreamworks to allow She-Ra in the series, but are being cautious just in case it doesn’t work out.  It also seems that Hordak just kind of abandons Skeletor there.
But the infuriating part is that none of this has any impact on the rest of the episode.  Skeletor just continues on with the plan.  So, this could have been drawn out and, perhaps, had a greater impact when he did learn the truth.
But to (quickly) recap the rest of the episode.  Lynn is helping Teela gain control of Ka magic and to sort out Teela’s feelings for Adam.  He-Man, meanwhile, has decided to attack Snake Mountain singled handedly for…reasons.  I know that the Palace was just attacked and people were taken, but He-Man really can’t do anything about that until he gets his sword powered up.  Andra feels like she’s gone from main character to background character (which she has).  Keldor convinces her to help him help the people and, I’m sorry, but the Andra in the first season was not an idiot and was prone to ask questions when she felt things were weird.  This Andra, on the other hand, saw Keldor create a way to use the enemies’ tech, literally feed it to the population, and not once questioned if this was a good idea.  It was not a good idea.
At this point, He-Man breaks into Snake Mountain and finds the Keldor’s crown (damn that teleporter).  Motherboard is able to break into Castle Greyskull and reformat it to look like Hordak (although I will admit that was pretty fucking creepy).  Teela is able to sense something is wrong, but can’t warn He-Man.  Motherboard manages to block the magic coming from Greyskull and He-Man turns back into Adam.  The people of the palace become enslaved.  Hordak takes over Greyskull and, oh look, here’s Keldor again (didn’t he just fly away from the palace three seconds ago?).  Adam is captured and demands to know why Keldor betrayed them.  Skeletor reveals his true form.
The sad thing is there’s pieces of a good story here, it’s just hard to tell as the story is so rushed.
