Married inukag is evenings aside a warm hearth fire with Inuyasha’s head resting upon Kagome’s lap as she gently strokes his hair and gently speaks sweet words of affection into the space between them.
Married Inukag is Kagome realizing that Inuyasha was listening to her sing to herself and encouraging her to continue because he likes her voice.
Married inukag is Inuyasha teaching Kagome little tricks for cooking things to perfection and the two bonding as they make their meals together.
Married Inukag is Inuyasha bumping into something as rolls over in his sleep, just to realize it was Kagome so he wraps his arms around her so tight and nuzzles his nose into her hair.
Married InuKag is Inuyasha bringing home small trinkets to Kagome because they reminded him of her in his travels.

The door covering of the hut flapped behind her as she stomped into the doma, removing her shoes just before stepping up onto the raised floor. She was stripping out of her clothes as she went, her mood less than sunny. There were decidedly wet plops on the flooring as each piece hit the wood.
The hanyou that followed her had his ears laid flat to his head as he peeked around the reed mat after his very stormy wife. He knew better than to say anything yet, opting to slip in silently and wait. He too was soaking wet, but he could wait it out.
Inuyasha held his tongue until she was in dry clothes, a towel in hand to dry her hair. She made no overtures to give him a towel and that was probably fair. He slowly peeled out of his suikan, hanging it up on the hook by the door. The spot he was supposed to hang it, but usually forgot. He made a point to wipe his feet before stepping any further in.
“It was an accident,” he murmured finally, ears still flat to his head as he stood and watched her dry her hair while pointedly not looking at him. He could see the increase of tension in her shoulders and neck as she heard his words.
“It definitely wasn’t,” she replied in a hushed growl. He opened his mouth to respond, then thought better of it. He peeled off his hakama instead, hanging those by the suikan so they would drip dry for now. In nothing but his kosode and fundoshi, he felt pretty vulnerable as he knelt down across from her. But he noticed that his change in attire and position had definitely lessened her intensity. “You know better than to swing Tetsusaiga around like that. We’re not fifteen anymore.” He bit his lip. She was right, of course. But she wasn’t taking everything into account.
“That beetle was huge, Kagome, it could have stepped on you. It’s different when regular animals get infested with a youkai. They get real big, but not much smarter.”
She pounded her fist with the towel down against the floor in a show of frustration. “You act like I don’t know that! Like I haven’t been doing this with you for more than five years now! I’m not a naive little teenager anymore, Inuyasha.”
“I know that,” he whispered. “I just… You could have been hurt. The pup could have been hurt.”
Inuyasha felt the nausea that had gripped him when the beetle the size of a house came out of the woods upon them, behind Kagome’s back and much more silently than its size would imply. He’d just reacted. Tetsusaiga was in hand, transformed, and swinging in a wide arc before he even had time to think about it. The rush of viscera had been wholly unpleasant and the only thing that had kept him from passing out from the noxious smell was knowing he needed to get Kagome clear and cleaned off.
She had been too stunned from what had happened to protest the dunk in the lake, squealing at the cold once it registered. Inuyasha tried to help her get clean, but she was too upset. So he let her do it herself, got himself clean, and then carried her home in this angry state. He wanted to bluster and yell back at her, but he was too worried about what it might do to her and their pup. Kaede and Sango had been very clear with him that he was not to upset her, especially in the later stages, as she could go into labor before it was time. So he had been holding his tongue a lot lately.
“I am pregnant, not an idiot. If you had moved us out of the way like you usually do and given me time to react, I could have gotten out of the way. As it is, you swinging that giant sword around could have been more dangerous than the beetle!”
He flinched when she did, her hand going to her belly.
A kick.
She wasn’t so far along that they needed to worry, but that didn’t mean he didn’t anyway. Inuyasha growled, standing. “I was protecting you. That’s what I do!”
“We protect each other, Inuyasha. I’m not a damsel in distress!”
“No, but you are my Mate and you are the mother of my unborn pup! I’m not going to apologize for protecting you both!”
It was Kagome’s turn to bite her tongue. Clenching her jaw, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath through her nose. “I am not upset at you for protecting me, Inuyasha. Or the baby. Of course I want us to be safe. I just need you to think first.”
Despite his irritation, he could see her point now. And he had been feeling guilty all along for accidentally covering her in bug guts…
“I will do my best to think first, then react.”
“Thank you. That’s all I ask.”
“That’s all?” he asked a little teasingly.
“And to help me get these tabi off. I can’t reach and they’re soaked and I hate them.”
He chuckled a little. “Give em here, princess.”
“Excuse you,” she protested.
“You’re lucky it’s me down here. There’s squishy bits between the toes.”
“Inuyasha! Gross!” she cried, lightly kicking at him. He laughed, tossing the tabi aside and catching her feet. He grabbed her towel and rubbed her feet dry. Then he held them in his lap and warmed them, lightly rubbing along the arches like he knew she needed. “Hm… Better.”
“The best, and you know it.”
“You’re lucky I can’t reach you from here right now.” He pressed his thumb a little more firmly into that spot he knew always hurt until he stretched it out. “Oh… Alright, fine. You’re forgiven,” she groaned, falling onto her elbows and letting her head fall back.
“Damn right.” She gave him a look. “Damn right, you’re beautiful?”
“Uh huh. Love you too, Dog Boy.”
Inuyasha’s face split into a grin. “Keh.”

Pride & Prejudice (2005):
Edo Period AU ft. SessKik & InuKag
Hi guys! Sorry for being MIA! Has it really been 9 months!?
Life has calmed down a little so I have time to work on AU projects again c: buuut I changed a few things !
I'll be illustrating key parts of the Pride and Prejudice (2005) movie in hopes of opening the fandom's eyes to SessKik romance... but it's going to take place during The Tokugawa era (also known as the Edo Period). I love historical fiction and have been reading up a ton about feudal society.
Originally, in the manga, Inuyasha is set in the Sengoku Period (The Warring States Era) where feudal warlords dropped like flies due to the constant political warfare. Later on, Samurai tried to establish "order" by assigning people into a strict hierarchy of social classes.. Which reminded me of P&P.
On top you have the Emperor, who didn't really wield any political power at this point and was more of a 'figurehead'.
Then there was the Shogun. These military men were the supreme commanders and head of government. I think it makes sense to have the Great Dog Demon be a shogun.
Beneath them were the Daimyo. They were the regional warlords and noble families that ruled over the lowly foot-soldier/samurai. They made up the upper-class but only those with close familial ties to the Shogun would be able to wield political power. Shogun gave land to daimyos to rule in exchange for loyalty. Also! There were "outer" Daimyo who barely hung on to what little perks they had since they had few real allies. Reminds me of the Bennet Fam.
...Everyone else (farmers, merchants, & peasants) weren't respected until the turn of the century brought about that dank rapid economic prosperity.
TBH there was no Japanese 'middle class' like there was in Europe during the time of Pride and Prejudice so I take a lot of creative license.. I'm taking elements I loved from the movie and combining them with the Ukiyo-e art that was so popular during the Edo period. I can't freaking wait to glam everyone up in kimonos, ribbons and pearls.
I hope that made sense! I love overcomplicating things ;p

“ can i get another one? ” [ Inuyasha ]
Kagome had returned to the Feudal Era for good several months ago now and she had been married to the half demon, who lie beside her, for majority of that time now. Living in the Feudal Era was an adjustment for her. In the beginning. Kaede helped Kagome a lot with teaching her about the different herbs as well as ways to use the herbs for healing. It was a tad challenging at first, going out and trying to differentiate which plant or herb was which, but she persisted and eventually got the hang of it.
Sango also helped her plant their garden. The two women sat in the dirt as they buried the seeds and cared for the soil. Sango gave Kagome all the information she knew when it came to certain vegetables and Kagome did her best to absorb all the information.
There were definitely times where Kagome felt overwhelmed and like she would fail as Inuyasha’a wife. She had picked the wrong herbs for Kaede or she wasn’t able to cook their dinner correctly and she would get so frustrated at herself that she’d later cry in their home about it. However, her husband always reassured her that she was still learning and he was grateful that she was there with him.
Kagome never regretted her decision in choosing to stay by his side.
Releasing a yawn, Kagome stretched in their cot as she readied herself to sit up and prepare for the day. Inuyasha didn’t have any exorcisms to attend to today with Miroku, however Kagome had to visit Kaede and train. Not only was she doing all the typical house wife duties, but she was also working on her priestess training.
As she moved to push herself up into a sitting position she felt warm arms wrap around her waist and pull her into a warm chest. She squeaked at the movement, as her husband kept her snug against him. Rolling her eyes with a shake of her head, she placed a hand upon his chest to push him away gently.
“Inuyasha, you may not have to work today. But I do.” She told him.
He buried his face into her neck and she sighed, “Inuyasha, please. I promise I’ll make it up to you later.”
That seemed to convince him as his arms loosened around her waist and she was able to sit up. She ran a hand through her dark hair then leaned over and placed a kiss on his mouth.
“I’ll try to be fast.” She told him, moving to stand up.
She paused, however, when she heard her husband’s request and she nearly laughed. However, she held back as she didn’t want to embarrass him. He didn’t typically openly ask for affection and she knew the two of them hadn’t had time with one another in a while.
Settling herself back in her seat, she smiled at him as she leaned her full body weight upon him and pressed her lips to his.
A silent promise for more to come.

In today's episode of Shut Up Robin, Nobody Cares:
InuKag bickering is so good because it's deeply telling of how comfortable InuYasha and Kagome are with each other at almost every stage of their relationship.
For starters, contrary to seemingly popular belief, arguing does not inherently signal dysfunction. It can sometimes signal the opposite: it demonstrates a level of intimacy and trust in your relationship that you are able to openly disagree with your loved one. You are not afraid of conflict because you know it won't break the relationship. In my experience, at least, it's shaky relationships that avoid conflict at all costs. When there's not enough emotional security with each other to openly disagree without fear/anxiety, open conflict never happens. That's why "arguing like an old married couple" is a cliché: it's the people who've built trust and security who will bicker like that.
I mean, don't get me wrong, it doesn't feel great to be in conflict with a loved one, even in a secure relationship. But being able to navigate conflict together in a way that eventually leads toward understanding and compromise is the sign of a strong relationship. Arguing is often a step in that process.
Which is why I find InuKag arguments absolutely, lip-smackingly delicious.
When they first meet, their arguments have the distinct flavor of, "I don't like you and I don't care what you think about me." Which is an excellent vintage tbh, full-bodied flavor with refreshing tartness. 👌👌 There's something so intrinsically entertaining about watching early-series InuKag butt heads, all the while knowing they eventually get married. And because early-series InuKag doesn't especially care about the other person's opinion of them, they don't hold back: there's no politeness barrier between them, there's no equivocating or filtering. They just have at it. They're not afraid to be themselves around each other, even when they dislike each other.
Then when their friendship begins to form—stage two InuKag 😁—their bond is forged from the two-pronged fire of 1) having each other's backs in life-or-death situations, and 2) experiencing the humdrum quotidian moments that come with traveling together all day, every day for long stretches of time. I've talked about this before, but I love how they know all the dumb little things about each other that you only learn from prolonged proximity: they know the timbre of each other's snores at night; they know how long the other can go without food before hangry-ness rears its head; they know which posture signals irritation or exhaustion, which facial expression signals daydreaming contemplation or a playful mood; they know which jokes will get a laugh and which insults will get the sharpest glances; the little intimacies abound!
By the friendship stage, InuKag bickering takes on a slightly different flavor. There's still that unfiltered, no-holds-barred vibe about them (because they're so used to being blunt with each other), but it also has the tenor of easy familiarity. Friends falling into the same low stakes argument they've had a hundred times already. There's not often any real heat or tension to the bickering, it's more like rote muscle memory. And when they do have real arguments, with real tension and emotional stakes?? It's delicious precisely because there are emotional stakes now! Goodbye, "I don't care what you think about me," hello, "I care so much what you think and I hate it and you're going to hear about it." It's still arguing InuKag, but with different emotional fuel sparking the arguments. Now there's affection and trust underpinning their unfiltered way with each other. It's mmm mmm good! I can eat it up all day.
And as the series progresses, and InuKag begin to develop obvious romantic interest in each other—stage three InuKag, yes it's terminal—the flavor of the arguments gets deeper because now those emotional stakes? They're even higher. And yet despite the higher stakes and the messy complications, they're still not afraid to butt heads. They're not afraid to be blunt and hash things out. I love this example of InuYasha's hack-and-slash style of conflict resolution. If there's a wall between him and resolving the tension, he'll just punch his way through it. 😂 Another favorite of mine is this banger scene where Kagome bluntly calls InuYasha out on his jealousy.
But probably my favorite stage three InuKag fight scene is this one, from chapter 310:

Man, it's so good! Kagome—after taking pains to save Kikyo, who then essentially taunts her for it—starts to feel angry and resentful and then wallops InuYasha with those feelings. (Before any haters pipe in: characters need to make mistakes sometimes. This is one such occasion. Let the 15-year-old girl character make a mistake ffs.) And what does InuYasha do? He sticks around so they can hash it out. The best panels in this chapter are Kagome thinking, "He probably hates me now," only for her to look up and see him right beside her. He can handle her mistakes and flaws, because he knows Kagome. They've spent 300 chapters building trust in each other, and we see the fruit of that here. InuYasha knows very well that Kagome cares for him—cares so much that she's risked her life for him many times over by now, and cares so much that she just saved her own romantic rival partly for InuYasha's sake (but largely because she's just a good person). I think that's why he handles this moment with pretty good composure. He knows Kagome doesn't actually hate him, briefly hurtful as that comment surely was. So he waits until she's processed her feelings a bit more, and they talk it out. (While we're here: I really like that he's sitting close to her but is facing away from her, like he's trying to give her the space/privacy she needs to process her feelings without actually leaving her alone... ugh I love it.)
Notice how, even in the midst of this fight, they start checking in with each other, putting the other person's interest before their own. Kagome sincerely urges InuYasha not to "hold back," the subtext of which reads to me: "Don't let my outburst tie you down, please do what you need to do." InuYasha responds in kind (his subtext reads to me: "Be honest, don't just put on a brave face for me") and also reassures Kagome's underlying anxiety. When he says, "You saved Kikyo, right? Then she'll be fine, I'm not going after her," he's speaking directly to the source of Kagome's insecurity—he's telling her in no uncertain terms that concern for Kikyo's safety was his only motive for seeking her out. Now that he knows Kikyo has been healed and isn't in imminent danger, he's not going after her. Again, he is intentionally addressing what he knows to be the source of Kagome's outburst when he says, "You healed Kikyo? Then I don't need to see her." To me, his message is pretty clear: "I wasn't looking for Kikyo for the reasons you think."
Like! Look at them! Openly and honestly communicating! Messily sharing their feelings! Resolving conflict and talking shit out! They've come so far. 🥹
These stage three InuKag fights feel different than their early-series fights, and they should! InuKag have built trust and love, but with that love comes vulnerability. It's the people we love who have the power to hurt us most. So even while InuKag have fundamental trust in each other, they're both aware that their feelings come with greater potential to hurt each other. And watching them navigate that tension and that duality together? MMM MMM GOOD.
Like truly, InuKag fights at every stage of their relationship are my favorite thing, it's all such good food.

Springtime Naps
She had forgotten how much she enjoyed sitting in the grass, appreciating the earth around her. Spring was in full bloom, with flowers coloring the fields and the cloudless sky giving her a perfect view of the village, of her home. Sighing happily, Kagome leaned back on her hands, aware of soft footsteps approaching behind her, his aura caressing hers in a loving way.
“Whatcha doin’ up here by yourself, wife?”
“Just admiring the view.”
He didn’t say anything, just merely collapsed to the ground beside her and snuggled his way into her, his head perched on her thigh. While this particular position wasn’t new to them, Inuyasha having done so outside of their home was. Running her fingers through his silver locks, she thought back on the last year, the year she returned to the place she now considered home.
It was late into last spring when the well reopened and she was married to Inuyasha by the end of the summer, taking the time to build a home together. The image of her husband cursing up a storm when he clipped his finger as he hammered down the roof, made her giggle.
“Oi, what’s so funny?” His deep voice pulled her from the memory, Inuyasha pulling her fingers from his hair to intertwine his own with hers.
“I was just thinking about the past year, particularly when we built our home and you being on the roof.”
“You were laughing because I kept hurting myself with that damned hammer.” he wasn’t angry at her, but the faint blush of his cheek told her he was still slightly embarrassed at reacting the way he did by the time the roof was finished. He all but flung the hammer into the woods and somehow managed to hit Miroku as he was walking down the path towards their home. Sango almost beheaded Inuyasha for knocking her husband out when he was supposed to be helping her deep clean their home. That had been a day to remember.
“It’s amazing how many hits Miroku has gotten over the years and he’s still the same, just like my favorite hanyou.” She teased him, leaning down to place a quick peck to his warm cheek.
“Favorite? You only know two other hanyou. I don’t think that’s a good enough title.”
“How about my favorite husband?”
“Now you’re gonna get it.” Using his youkai speed, he managed to flip their positions, so her head now settled in his lap and his fingers danced along her side, making Kagome squeal. Begging for him to stop, he repeated her action from earlier and placed a kiss to her cheek, his happiness contagious. Her yawn snuck up on her, causing Inuyasha to chuckle as he shifted his leg once more, making her as comfortable as possible.
Closing her eyes, basking in the sun's warmth, she felt him recline his body, their hands somehow still intertwined as if it were their lifeline.
The last thing Kagome thought before she fell into a light doze was the quick prayer to whatever kami was listening that they would have peaceful springtime naps together for the rest of their lives.

just thinking about a non-HnY plotline in which…
Rin marries Kohaku and they name their firstborn daughter Kagura out of respect for the wind demoness who saved Kohaku’s life…
Sesshoumaru watches over Rin and Kohaku’s family for generations to come… He ends up being an absolute pushover of a grandfather. You think he spoiled Rin? Pffft. Child’s play. You’ll never hear him admit it, but he shows up every month or so with candies, toys, new clothes, etc. from his travels for his adopted grandkids. Maybe Sesshoumaru has never had a “pack” in the traditional inuyokai sense, but he sure as heck has one now. (Don’t worry, he also brings gifts for Inukag’s kids, too.) I feel like his love languages are definitely acts of service + gift giving. Not a big “words of affirmation” guy. Deep down inside, he loves this little (yet growing) pack of humans who run up to him and give him hugs and beg him to take them flying in the sky for a minute…
Understanding that Rin has been used against the both of them as bait in the past, Sesshoumaru (begrudgingly) teams up with Kohaku when he’s in the village to teach her some basic demon-slaying and self-defense techniques when she enters her mid-teen years. (Before Kohaku and Rin are married.) Both males understand that she doesn’t have to be perfect or excel at them (nor does she ever become an expert fighter), but they at least want her to know a few moves in case she ever encounters trouble, you know? We love a cooperative future father/son-in-law relationship.
I also imagine that maybe Kohaku was like… 👀👀 “oh man, she’s cute…!” at Rin when he saw his childhood friend dressed in demon slayer garb for the first time. It’s even funnier to imagine Sesshoumaru, the protective dad he is, being insistent on lowkey chaperoning Rin’s training sessions with him and Kohaku as he watches their blossoming “puppy love” romance play out. He doesn’t want things getting too crazy over there.
There’s more to come on this. I would love to write a little drabble series about a KohRin family and gramps Sesshoumaru… 🤲🏻🤲🏻
