Miraculous x Bleach AU

So while re-watching Bleach last year during the lead up to TYBW coming out I also had Miraculous on my mind and thought, “Huh, the main premise of both shows is eerily similar”. I don’t mean that in the whole “both protagonists release their souls from their body to fight” or “magical jewels go brrr” sort of deal. I mean the fact that both shows star teenagers that get drafted into keeping the balance in their hometown through circumstances out of their own control. And given how Kubo took his characters fashion sense into account when designing them, the hamster in my head started running overtime to come up with this AU.

Basic Premise

Marinette becomes a Soul Reaper

Adrian is a Quincy

Mari can see ghosts and ends up meeting Fu who is a retired Soul Reaper.

A hollow almost ends up killing one of her classmates and as a last resort Fu transfers the last of his powers into Marinette making her a substitute Soul Reaper

Meanwhile on the other side of town Adrian ends up finding a box or a letter or something from his mom hidden in his room detailing his Quincy heritage

Gabe isn't a Quincy though

The story goes on until they see each other taking down Hollows

Marinette’s Zanpakuto

Name: Kōun'nōmamori (Means Good Luck Charm)

Shikai Release: A Chakram that can hone in on targets. It’s edge can be sharp and blunt based on the users intent

Bankai: Kiseki Kōun'nōmamori - Can control probability to always hit its target

After awakening her powers Marinette starts taking Kendo (I would say fencing, but Zanpakuto are Katanas so I figured Kendo would work better)

Adrien’s Spirit Weapon

Adrien starts with a simple Kojaku after finding his mom’s Quincy Cross

After months of training he eventually learns how to use a Heilig Bogen

Once he learns to use both weapons he then moves on to learning how to use a Seele Schneider

In this universe he asks to learn archery and it replaces his fencing lessons

How the story starts

Shortly after her 15th birthday Marinette notices the ghost of a kid on her way to school, the kid died in a traffic accident and Marinette promised to leave some flowers at her grave after school. Meanwhile on the other side of town Adrien is sneaking out for his first day at public school and while looking for his text book he knocks over a picture of his mom off of his wall to show a small vault with a padlock on it. Deciding to investigate later he places the picture back on the wall and sneaks out.

When Marinette and Adrien meet at school, they don’t start off on the right foot as Mari still thinks he tried to prank her thanks to Chloe. Alya transfers in as usual and the day goes on without much incident.

After the school day ends Marinette goes to buy flowers for the child’s grave while Adrien gets caught by Natalie and ends up grounded as a result.

At dusk Fu receives a Hell Butterfly alerting him that a Hollow is in the area. He hadn’t received one in years and pulls out his old substitute soul reaper badge to release his soul.

Once he finds it he’s able to give chase but can’t keep up for too long. The Hollow then notices Marinette and the child’s soul and goes to devour them. Fu manages to stop the Hollow from attacking them but he nearly exhausts himself doing so.

Taking notice that Marinette can see him and can see the Hollow he has no other option but to transfer the last of his powers to her so that she can defeat the Hollow. Marinette reluctantly agrees seeing the Child’s soul in danger.

Once she accepts Fu’s powers she transforms into a Soul Reaper and manages to defeat the Hollow.

While that was happening Adrien investigated the safe in his room and deduced that his birthday was the combination. Inside it was a book, a letter from his mom, and a metal star shaped cross. Reading the letter let Adrien learn of his heritage as a Quincy. The book detailed their full history and how to use his powers.

With newfound determination Adrien manages to bargain with his father to let him go to school as a way to promote the “agreste brand” to today’s youth (This is the best I could come up with) by letting him go to school. His plan works and along with going to school he joins an archery club to learn how to use his Kojaku.

The story will continue as Marinette learns about the duties of a Soul Reaper while Adrien studies his lineage and the history of the Quincy. As they grow stronger they’re able to better detect Spiritual Pressure (Reishi).

While they both train to master their powers their relationship at school hasn’t gotten much better as neither side was able to mend the rift caused by the misunderstanding on the first day of school.

Their training comes to a head when they both go after a Hollow, just as Marinette is about to cut it down she’s stopped by a flurry of arrows taking it down instead. When she sees Adrien holding the bow the arrows came from. This ends up causing tension as Marinette thought Adrien was aiming for her and Adrien had learned at this point that Soul Reapers were responsible for the execution of the Quincy.

That’s all I had for the story so far. I’m just going to list some more broad strokes of this AU to give a better idea of what I’ve been thinking about for the last year or so.

Kagami is also a Soul Reaper

Luka, Juleka, and Kim are Fullbringers

The Miraculous cast meets the Bleach cast during the Soul Society Arc

Speaking of, both Fu and Rukia were set to be executed

Fu was set to be executed after helping the Vizards escape 100 years before the story began.

Maybe have Marinette get a Hollow Mask if you can come up with a good reason

So yeah, that’s the Bleach AU. didn’t really have too much of a plan outside if writing the prompt, but it was a lot of fun. If anyone decides to roll with it just let me know so I can read what you come up with!
