Addressing Accusations Against KojiKen Shippers

I wanted to share an experience I had regarding KojiKen and the accusations made against its shippers, potentially extending to KenKoji shippers, in relation to the character Maki Akamine.

A few months ago, I came across a post (written by a new and very young CT/KenKojiKen fan) accusing some KojiKen shippers of toxicity towards Maki. Since KojiKen shippers are scarce on Tumblr, I'm almost certain that the post was directed at me, as I'm the most active shipper here and the only one who gave my opinion on Maki. I want to address and clarify this false and unfair accusation.

Firstly, I've been a part of the KojiKen fandom for many years and have never witnessed or engaged in toxic behavior towards Maki fans or KojiMaki shippers.

It's important to understand that disliking a character or ship doesn't automatically make someone toxic. We all have preferences, and it's okay to express them respectfully. Sharing thoughts and feelings about characters and ships is a natural part of being a fan. It's acceptable to have reservations or not connect with certain characters or pairings without being malicious or disrespectful. Critiquing or expressing dislike for a character or ship is a personal viewpoint that should be approached with respect and an open mind, which I've tried to do. Differentiating between sharing opinions and actively attacking or demeaning others with different perspectives is crucial.

I've always maintained a respectful approach when discussing characters and ships I don't like, using appropriate tags and avoiding unnecessary conflicts (when possible). Promoting a positive fandom environment where everyone feels comfortable expressing their opinions is essential. We all have different tastes, preferences, and interpretations within the fandom, and it's okay to disagree as long as we do so respectfully. Creating a safe space for expression means recognizing that not everyone shares the same views.

On my part, I had the misfortune of encountering an anti-KojiKen/KojiMaki shipper years ago, who invaded our ship's tag and wrote nasty things about me. Despite the fact that they left me with a very negative impression, to put it politely, I understood that this individual doesn't represent the entire KojiMaki and Maki fanbases. I strongly condemn their values and behavior, as I am in complete opposition.

Going back to the original topic, while it's possible that some individuals may have had negative experiences with certain KojiKen shippers (personally, I've never encountered problematic shippers), it's important to remember that those instances don't represent the entire fandom, so it's pointless to create a post targetting just one person.

TL;DR: Disliking a character or ship doesn't automatically make someone toxic, as long as these views are expressed respectfully. We should remember that not everyone shares the same views and that disagreements can be handled respectfully. While negative experiences with certain shippers may occur, it's essential to avoid generalizing and understand that they do not represent the entire fandom.

Steve Hyuga debe estar agradecido con Maki ya que clave para Steve para su nuevo tiro el cual lo llamaria tiro Raiju, al principio Steve se encuentra practicando en un campo de softball y lo estaba arruinando pero llegó Maki a llamarle a atención y por eso debía jugar con ella el sería el Catcher y el ella el pitcher por cierto Maki es alguien muy hábil lidera a su nuevo equipo antes del Campeonato, en sus lanzamientos que ella realizó a Steve le recordó los tiros de sus compañeros los cuales fueron tiro del Águila y tiro con efecto, conforme avanza el episodio Steve práctica constantemente en el bosque hasta lograr su nuevo tiro ya que fue clave que Maki hace un lanzamiento utilizando su brazo como palanca, que hace un efecto ascendente del balón y es este lanzamiento el que le inspira para la creación del Tiro Raiju

A special drawing about my favorite Captain Tsubasa couple: Kojiro Hyuga and Maki Akamine! She recently won the gold medal on softball and he's in the process of winning his in men's soccer. They became a Golden Couple!! I made this drawing to commemorate the recently concluded Tokyo 2020 Olympics, but even though I had the sketch done since last year, I didn't find time to color it before the Olympics ended. Well, better late than never!

captain tsubasa/bnha crossover au

tsubasa ozora is a kid who’s wanted to be the top hero in the world for a very long time after he was rescued by a hero-in-training when he was a toddler. he and his family move to nankatsu, which is known as the home of honshu academy of heroics. it’s split into two departments, shutetsu and nankatsu, which are the heroics and general education departments respectively.

genzo wakabayashi is the top student in the shutetsu dept and is renowned for his quirk. tsubasa becomes the only person to have ever defeated him, and thusly the two became friends and rivals.

>A hospital on the outskirts of Tokyo. We came here right after we saved our friend.

Shinya, you’re here!

I am. How’s my mom and Yuta?

>Mrs. Oda rushes up to her son... and slaps his face.

Mrs. Oda: Why, Shinya!? Why do you think I just did that!? (begins tearing up and embraces her son) I’m just so glad you’re alright!

I’m sorry, Mom. I love you.

If we’re done here, I believe you have a friend you wish to see.

Shinya: I know. Where’s Yuta?

He and Setsuko are in the next room for more testing. Yuta’s operation doesn’t happen until later this month, the same day I have my match with Joe Yuuki, but he was really worried about you.

>We go over to the next room... We were surprised to see Joe Yuuki and Maki Takakura here.

Shinya, you’re here! How was your trip?

Shinya: Well, let’s just say it was...

Jawsome.

I’m not sure what that means, but it sound like you had a nice time.

And what about you two? What brings you here?

Joe’s, my Joe’s, mother is a patient here. We came here to visit her and renew the contract that allows her to stay here. As for visiting the kid... That was Joe’s idea.

Oracle: (smirking a bit) Is it now?

HA! So you do care about Yuta! I knew that threat you made to him was phony. Boxing greatest villain has a heart after all.

Yuuki: ... I just wanted to make sure Akamine is fully focused and not distracted for our fight. I prefer it to be a fair fight.

Joe: (smiling) Right, keep telling yourself that, buddy.

Will you all be alright?

It won’t be easy, but I think we’ll be fine.

NOTE: The vision is the opening of Joe vs. Joe. We think the scenes in it are the future.

Akine chan!?

Ryuji kun, you’re back! Listen, you have to come with me.

Ryuji kun. You’re here. And you must be Akechi’s other friends.

Akechi’s other neighbors from the apartment he lives in. Akine is his neighbor, too.

(banging his fist on the glass) CRAP NO, AKECHI!

Ryuji, calm down!

What happened to him?

We’re not sure. He came back to the apartment for lunch. Suddenly, he began holding his head in pain and was screaming. Then he just collapsed. We tried to wake him up, but no response.

Even my dogs’ licking didn’t help, and that usually works. So we brought him here. We learned of this hospital from Akechi when he told us earlier that a friend of yours was here for his condition.

The doctors say that all the tests they ran on Akechi showed that he’s in perfect physical health. So it must be a mental problem. But I’m afraid that’s where it gets a little... Odd.

Like what?

Well, the doctors at first think he might have fallen into a deep sleep. But the symptoms are more similar to, well... A coma.

You mean...

Man with ponytail: Link? Oh, you mean the one he has with Spider-Man.

You know about it!?

Fox-eyed man: Well, we did learn that your other friend is linked with Harry Osborn.

>He was happily pointing to Skull.

Skull: (a bit surprised) You know? How long?

Akine: Since that night you came to stay with Akechi... You really need to find a better way to sneak a guy who turn into an alien out. And at the same time, we learned Stealth Spider got weakened. Then, we learned not long after Akechi collapsed, Spider-Man starts acting odd? We think there’s more to it.

Diego: There’s no really hiding it, is there?

Spiky-haired man: Not really. I thought it was just another supernatural thing, it wasn’t exactly that, but it was unusual, even for what I’ve seen.

Another supernatural thing? What you’ve seen?

It’s a long story.

Joker: I suppose. Anyway, Akechi’s in a coma. That’s just like what happened two years ago. Peter bonded with the V-252, the Venom Symbiot, and Akechi fell into a coma.

Skull: Then again, when I turned into Overflow, Harry was only in a coma for a short time. But why is it that for Akechi, his comas last longer.

Diego: I can only think of few reasons. Harry’s coma only lasted a short time is because you weren’t fully Overflow. Your mind was still yours, but only for a time. If you had fully become Overflow... He would fall into a long coma. As for Akechi, I think it’s because Venom was already strong enough to take Peter’s mind. That’s why he fell into a longer coma. And now it’s happening again. Only this time, instead of Venom, it’s Doctor Octopus. We can get rid of Venom easily, but it’s a mental problem than a physical one.

Fine-looking man: So, if Akechi and Ryuji have their minds taken over or go into a coma, the same will happen with Peter and Harry? And vise versa?

Queen: That’s what it seems anyway. We’re still unsure how this link works. We don’t even know how it first formed.

Akine: I see.

Noir: But surely something can be done. A way to put Peter back in his own body.

Alex: Easier said than done.

Diego: What do you mean?

Alex: If I knew where Peter’s spirit and mind are, I could put him back in no time at all. Unfortunately, we don’t know where it is. So there’s nothing I can do. Spider-Man will be stuck as Superior Spider-Man.

Oracle: But if that’s true...

Alex: Your friend will remain in that coma... What a way to spend the upcoming release of Persona 5: Royal.

No. Akechi.

Alex: Not to worry. I know of only one way that can save him now.

Queen: What do you mean?

Alex: It pains me (a bit) to tell you this... Sever the connection.

What?

Alex: Sever the connection that links Akechi’s mind to Parker’s. If this happens, Akechi will awaken.

Noir: And... You can do that?

Man with ponytail: He can.

Alex: I see, you know about me... Ryu.

Ryu: And you know about me. Yes, I am a psychic and I can see your energy... The energy of Avalon.

Spiky-haired man: (a bit puzzled) Avalon?

Fox-eyed man: The Island of the Fair Folk. Home of the Third Race. And Kingdom of Oberon.

Spiky-haired man: (shocked) You’re a fairy!? Alexander Xanatos is a fairy!?

Alex: I don’t think they’ve heard you on Mars. Yes. I am half fairy. My grandmother, Titania, after leaving Oberon, married a mortal man. He was my grandfather. Together, they had my mother. Then, after marrying my father, they had me. I won’t say where I learned how to control my powers, but I can. I have even created a spell... And it’s going to save your friend.

Joker: That sounds wonderful.

Alex: However, there’s a catch.

Diego: What is it?

Alex: If I sever the connection... All of Parker’s memories of Akechi will go with it.

Everyone: (except Alex) WHAT!?

Alex: All of Parker’s memories of Akechi, from the moment the connection was made, will vanish. Parker will remember Akechi, but only as the Detective Prince known by the media, not as his friend. Not to mention that Parker will realize that he is in a world where everyone knows he’s Spider-Man and doesn’t know why or how.

Joker: Will Akechi forget, too?

Alex: No. His Persona will remember for him. But Parker will definitely forget.

Noir: But, Akechi and Peter have become such good friends. And everyone knowing that he’s Spider-Man made his life a little bit better. To lose all of that...

It would just be too painful.

Alex: Well I’m not saying you have to. The decision is really yours... Or rather, your leader’s.

Alex: As the leader, you take responsibility for your whole team.

Spiky-haired man: (confused) I don’t understand. The leader?

Ryu: Didn’t you know? ... Akechi and his friends are the Phantom Thieves.

Spiky-haired man: (shocked) WHAA!

Diego: (unhappy) Those Martians definitely heard that.

>We go to the cafeteria. We do introductions. Kuga Akine, the girl we met earlier, is an exorcist. Ryu, the man with the ponytail, is a psychic, just like Chifune. The spiky-haired man and the fine-looking man are Yushi Inaba and Mizuki Hase, respectively. They currently live together to look after a young boy named Kuri and his dog named Shiro who both reside at the apartment. The rough-looking man is Akira Fukase, painter. (Fox says he’s happy to meet a fellow artist.) The fox-eyed man is Reimei Isshiki, a poet. And the bookish man is called Furuhonya, a mage (not a magical girl) and a secondhand bookshop employee. The apartment they live in... Is home to ghosts, spirits, monsters, basically youkai.

I see. Akechi has some really interesting neighbors.

Ryu: And he has some interesting friends. I also know that you possess magic because of your Personas, Ann Takamaki.

Panther: You know?

Furuhonya: From Headmistress Faragonda. She told me the last time I delivered some ancient tomes to Alfea... By the way, she told me to give you this.

>He hands Panther a book.

Furuhonya: It’s got some basic stuff, too, but it also has some more advanced things as well.

Panther: Thanks. I’ll be sure to thank her, too... I wonder if it has anyway to awaken Akechi without severing the connection to Peter.

Skull: If it did, we would know why we became linked in the first place. (getting a little upset) Damn it, I knew he shoulda come with us.

Joker: I think he knew what was going to happen and didn’t want to worry us.

Skull: But that’s what happened anyway.

WHY’D THE EFF DID THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN!?

Hase: It’s not your fault, Ryuji kun. Doc Oct is a very dark person.

Joker: I thought changing his heart would make him a better person, but instead, it only made him worse. And now look, Akechi’s in a coma and Peter is lost.

Queen: And what’s worse, while in his body, Otto Octavius is doing things as Superior Spider-Man that are making Peter look bad and J. Jonah Jameson is having a field day with this.

Yushi: Can’t you just tell him that Doc Oct is using Spider-Man’s body?

Queen: With what proof? It would be our word against his. Besides, he hates Spider-Man. We learned of this already on a previous heist. But that was a different Jameson.

Royal: Then what will we do? If Peter can’t get his body back, Akechi will never wake up and he could die. I’m starting to think that accepting Alex’s offer might be a good idea.

Queen: Hold on, are you really sure? If we do sever the connection, all of Peter’s memories of Akechi will be gone. And we won’t even remember how everyone knows he’s Spider-Man.

Skull: Pete said that S.H.I.E.L.D. is willin’ to make everyone think that him bein' Spider-Man wasn’t real... But that means going back to making up lame excuses on why he keeps disappearin'. And it will only make others and himself unhappy...

Typical Parker Luck.

Royal: Is it really that bad?

Diego: The worse.

Panther: What are we to do? Do you think one of you guys can do it? Akechi’s your neighbor.

Akine: Would if we can, but I think whatever Doc Oct did, it might be too difficult even for us.

>What am I to do? This is a very important decision. If I choose to break the link, all of Peter’s memories from the moment the connection was made will be gone, but at least Crow will awaken... But then I remember something...

Harry’s voice: I believe in Pete... We can work it out... You just have to be patient... Have faith in him like I do.

>... I finally know what to do. Then, I see Alex coming in. I go up to him.

Alex: I see you’ve made your choice.

Joker: I have.

Alex: And?

>Do it. >>I believe.

I believe in my friends. So, no.

Alex: Are you sure about that?

Joker: I’m sure that the Web Warriors and their friends will find a way to solve this problem. We just have to be patient. But just in case...

Alex: You’ll let me know you changed your mind? ... Very well.

Joker: So, if you don’t telling us how to contact you in case we do change our minds...

Alex: That’s easy... (begins smiling) Talk to your new principal.

>With that, he was gone.

New principal?

Fox: (calling) Ren, we’re have you told him!?

Joker: (calling back) I’m coming!

>With that, I rejoin my friends and tell them what happened.

Royal: I see. I guess I’ll be filling in for Akechi until he awakens.

Joker: Normally, that would be the case... But with that upcoming release of Persona 5: Royal, I don’t think we’ll be doing any heists for a while. But I'm sure things will be fine before then, I really want us to go to our school’s Culture Festival. And the one at Kosei. Not to mention Halloween.

Furuhonya: (a little disappointed) Culture Festival? I hope things will go smoothly this time.

Oracle: What do you mean?

Hase: Two years ago, we were invited to Yushi’s school’s festival, but Furuhonya showed up late and missed it. He tried again last year, but it got cancelled due to a fire that broke out during summer break. Luckily, no one got hurt, but the school was closed for renovations.

Yushi: I’m sure you’ll make it this year.

Furuhonya: Hope you’re right.

>Outside, Alex heard... He smiled.

>Until after the release of Persona 5: Royal, you won’t be posting, but you can still send heist requests and we will change the poll next month. Until we meet again.

It’s funny because someone already asked me more or less this question 5 years ago.

My opinion is of course more nuanced than before – you should have asked me that 10 years ago and I would have been rabid and in a state of deep depression all day long LMAO! Thanks god, I matured since then.

► As a KojiKen shipper, what do I feel about her?

To be honest, I feel indifference toward her. She isn’t a main character, so I don’t get to see her on every pages. I just try to avoid the moments and the fanworks involving her. I know that her crush "love" for Hyuga is canon and it can’t be helped – it’s Takahashi’s decision and story.

Anyway, I don’t care about the canon anymore since the World Youth series – I don’t like how the story developed, and the art style is so ugly that even Japanese people make memes about the author’s disproportionate characters. 😂

I just want to add that even if I love KojiKen from the bottom of my heart, it stays fictive and for people who get triggered easily by "rival ships" here is a piece of advice: take a look at your priorities again – there are many things in life that are way more important.

Conclusion: I don’t care about her and I’ll ship KojiKen forever! I pity KojiMaki shippers as their couple doesn’t get a lot of development tho

I feel exactly the same as you anon – Akamine gives the impression that she has been took from nowhere just so Hyuga won’t be left alone, as if Takahashi wanted to show us that “HEY LOOK HYUGA’S NOR GAY NOR ASEXUAL, LEAVE HIM ALONE WITH YOUR GAY EVIL DOUJIN”.

There are some rumors (let’s be careful about them, it’s not official) that Takahashi is not very fond of gay ships... Or at least he doesn’t understand why some fans like to ship male characters with each other.

In case you didn’t know, CT grew in popularity in the 80s and the early 90s. A lot of women got interested in the series and created doujinshi focused most of the time on Hyuga and Wakashimazu. Of course Takahashi noticed that CT was being associated more and more with homo-romantic doujin, and here comes fast forward the creation of Maki Akamine in 1994!!...

Here is my point – there is a theory saying that the author created a female love interest to dissuade people from shipping Hyuga and Wakashimazu together. KojiMaki gained a lot of shippers, but at the same time it fueled KojiKen shippers' imagination even MORE. Some of them saw a potential love triangle, a bit like in Kimagure Orange Road – the main character (Hyuga) must choose between the cute, short-haired, boyish genki girl (Maki) or the beautiful, aloof, mature, long dark haired "girl" (Wakashimazu).

Conclusion: Akamine is just a tool to drive away shippers from CT rather than being a character with depth and development. Honestly, shame on Takahashi – he treats the girls in his story like shit. He already showed us that he can create amazing, charismatic, charming male characters, so why not girls?

Damn, I like CT but there are so many things that could be done better.

Girls in CT

/!\ Warning for sarcasm & subjectivity /!\

In one of my post Millartiste brought up a topic for which I’m very passionate about: GIRLS IN CAPTAIN TSUBASA (YEAH BABY) - these submissive and frail creatures who have for only aim to love fangirl over the captains… *sigh* (not everyone will agree with this opinion and I respect that).

The way Takahashi depicted most of the girls (aside from the adult female figures) is bothersome. As said above, their purpose is to serve as love interest and emotional support for the protagonists, but let’s be honest, they are useless. In which way do they provide support? By crying? By waiting hopelessly that the guys notice them?

We could remove them from the story, the characters and the plot would still make sense.

Seriously, these roles aren’t negative per se - I’m just annoyed that the author perpetuates the belief that girls must be soft-spoken, dependent, overemotional and passive.

Besides the poor development of the female cast, there is something very bland and unrealistic about the romantic relationships’ process.

If you pay attention it’s (roughly) always the same pattern:

Girl develops unhealthy crush for the guy.

Girl waits passively to be noticed.

BOOM! The guy notices the girl as if by magic.

Obviously all of them never had any boyfriends before (well, most of them were too young to have any, but you see my point), as if they existed solely for falling in love with the protagonists.

(Yoichi, you nailed it! You TOTALLY understand womankind and relationships.)

Now, let’s focus on the sexual dimorphism between male and female characters in the manga. Here are some quick drawings showing their typical face:

Boys benefit from a large range of expressions and emotions, (ranging from anger to joy, sadness etc.) while girls only smile, cry, or worry.

Put differently, the male cast is allowed to express raw passion and be agressive. On the contrary, girls are portrayed as frail, soft and passive.

Even if all the female cast follows more or less the same pattern, two girls stand out from the others in terms of development and creation.

Sanae:

Actually I think she was quite funny in elementary school. She was carefree, dynamic and stubborn. In short, she had a personality, until she ‘fell in love’ with Tsubasa. Little by little she went from a lively girl to a dull fangirl.

“MY DEVELOPMENT…!!” (yes, you can cry anego)

Btw, she was ranked in a recent Japanese poll as one of the most annoying heroine of the Shounen Jump by the readers…

@millartiste mentioned in one of her comments that the author didn’t even bother to create a female character who plays soccer and that’s true! However, even if it’s not soccer, there’s one who practices sport (softball):

Maki Akamine:

Let’s talk about her - she is one of the BIGGEST trap of the fandom.

Her creation is a cheap attempt at making a woman that breaks feminine stereotypes: she is short-haired, sporty, rather pushy, uses colloquial speech (in Japanese) - in other words she is a ‘tomboy’.

In addition to her different chara design, she doesn’t follow exactly the same pattern in terms of romantic relationship development - unlike the other girls, she is rather active in her ‘pursuit’.

She seems like a novelty compared to Sanae, Yayoi and Yoshiko, but digging further we realize that she remains a weak fangirl who confuses limerence for true love.

From my observation, most of the non-Japanese fanbase seems to love her, while a great part of the Japanese one despises her. Why this discrepancy? Well, It’s too long to fit in this post, so I’ll write another one about this topic.

Now, if you think that the author decided to create an unconventional female character to please the readers, think again.

Actually there is a theory that she was created in response to Hyuga and Wakashimazu being shipped too much together, which is utterly true (the amount of doujinshi about them is just crazy) - they were ranked pairing n°1 in the Japanese fandom in the 80s and are still very much appreciated together.

Takahashi’s goal was to stop the fujoshi wave, so he decided to create a love interest for Hyuga. However, imagine if he created a girl with long hair and with a calm disposition, the fujoshi would think that Hyuga is attracted to these characteristics… which are evocative of Wakashimazu!

To avoid any link between Wakashimazu and Hyuga’s love interest, the author created a character with literally every aspects of Wakashimazu but reversed, which give us Maki Akamine.

Think about it: short hair/long hair, she uses colloquial speech/he uses honorific speech (when talking to Hyuga), hot-headed/calm etc.

Is it just a coincidence? I don’t think so. (Sorry, I’m a bit off topic 💦)

In hindsight, we should remember that CT targets a male hetero audience, which explains the lack of development of the female characters.

It can be attributed to the context in which the series was created too - Japanese society gives a lot of importance to traditional values and gender roles.

Things haven’t really changed for female characters from shounen series, especially sport shounen. The “Women Are Delicate” trope is unfortunately still very present in a lot of works.

Anyway, let’s celebrate the great male characters from the series!

Koromaru: Grr!

Shadow Sugimura: (looking dangerious) No one’s takin’ anythin’ from me! Men, take down the Phantom Thieves!

>Two gangster Shadows appear to join Sugimura’s Shadow and take to their aggressive forms.

Oracle: Let’s see what we’ve got here tonight. Persona!

>Necronomicon scans the two Shadows and Shadow Sugimura.

Oracle: The two Koumokuten are weak to Ice. And of course, Sugimura’s weak to Psychokinesis.

Noir: Then I’ll be fighting as well.

Fox: As will I.

Ken: Mind if I get in on this, too? Apart from Light, I can also heal.

Joker: Alright then, let’s do this.

>I change Personas.

Joker, Noir, Fox, and Ken: Persona!

(Insert song: Nothing Is Promised)

>One of the Koumokuten uses Matarukaja while Shadow Sugimura uses Brain Shake on Fox. Luckily, he wasn’t Brainwashed. Sui-Ki uses Mabufula which knocks the Koumokuten down. I pass the baton to Noir who has Milady use Psio on Shadow Sugimura which also knocks him down.

Ken: “I’ve been waiting for this moment!” ... I’ve been working on my Akihiko.

Noir: It sounds perfect.

Ken: Good. Now let’s go!

>After the attack, the two Koumokuten were still standing, but now weak, as was Shadow Sugimura. Milady once again uses Psio on Sugimura’s Shadow and knocks him out again. Then, Noir passes the baton to Fox who has Goemon use Mabufula again and knocked the two Koumokuten again.

Oracle: Wow. You guys are on a roll.

Joker: Guess we’re better than we thought. Now let’s do this!

>After the attack, the two Koumokuten were gone.

Noir: He’s the only one left.

Fox: I will handle him.

Ken: Me too!

>Goemon uses Tempest Slash and Kala-Nemi uses Cruel Attack. Neither one was strong enough to completely take down Shadow Sugimura.

Shadow Sugimura: Useless idiots! No matter, I can handle these mooks myself. Get ready, I am no mere gun like the others you’ve faced. Now... Prepare to die!

Oracle: Seriously? We’ve already fought him in this form.

Shadow Sugimura: (a mixture of his human and robotic voice) You will find that I have few more tricks up my sleeves. You see, I know what happened in Okumura’s Palace. About my cognitive existence. But I am nothing like that weak fool... See for yourself.

>Shadow Sugimura uses Mafreidyne. Me and Noir were knocked down. Shadow Sugimura then attacks again with Brain Buster. Both Fox and Ken were Brainwashed.

Oracle: Hold on! Support’s on the way!

>Necronomicon uses Mediarama to heal us. I get back up and change Personas.

Joker: Persona!

>Parvati uses Energy Show to restore Fox’s and Ken’s senses.

Fox: Forgive me, Joker. I let my guard down.

Joker: It’s no your fault, Fox. We underestimated him.

Noir: (getting back up) But we can still fight. Rush him, Milady!

>Milady uses Psiodyne. Unfortunately, Shadow Sugimura dodged it. Goemon uses Masukukaja to speed us up.

Ken: Let’s hope this works. I’ve been working on it while we were going around this place. Go, Kala-Nemi!

>Kala-Nemi uses Kougaon. It took a lot of health from Shadow Sugimura.

Shadow Sugimura: That’s quite powerful... But not good enough.

>Shadow Sugimura uses Life Drain on Ken. It took a lot out of him and healed Sugimura a lot. I had Parvati use Diarahan to heal Ken.

Ken: Thanks.

>Milady uses Psiodyne again. This time, it hit Shadow Sugimura and knocks him down.

Noir: Time to punish them!

>After the attack, Shadow Sugimura was still standing, but now getting weaker. Goemon uses Deadly Fury and Kala-Nemi uses Vile Assault.

Shadow Sugimura: No! I won’t let this happen! You will suffer!

>Shadow Sugimura uses Mafreidyne. It was hard on us, but thankfully, Noir dodged it.

Oracle: He’s almost down!

Joker: We’re nearly done. Let’s do this!

>Parvati uses Psiodyne. However, Shadow Sugimura dodged it.

Shadow Sugimura: You fools! Do you think you can ever stop me!? I am the greatest and most powerful in all of Japan. All of the world!

Noir: Only in your mind, my former fiance. Joker’s attack my not have finished you...

But that mean I can show you that Kala chan is not the only one who’s learned a new trick. Milady!

>Milady uses Phycho Force. It was supper effective on Shadow Sugimura as it knocked him down good.

Shadow Sugimura: I won’t allow this to happen!

Noir: It’s too late for that now. ATTACK!

>After the attack, the Shadow resumes his human form. Then, the painting behinds him opens.

Mona: Yes! The Treasure is ours!

>Sugimura’s Treasure was pretty much the same as Kanashiro’s. A briefcase full of money.

Joker: I hope you understand now. Being rich doesn’t always mean you have the power to do whatever you want. Especially if all it does is hurt people. Kind of makes me feel sorry for Joe Yuuki.

Shadow Sugimura: He’s just a dumb muscle man. He can’t really do anything without me. He wants to become number one? That’s a child’s dream.

Ken: I know that he wants to become number one by any means necessary, even if it means pushing others away and putting them down. But I’m sure all he needs is a chance. A chance to know that it’s not all about him. A lesson you, yourself, should learn. If you want your family’s reputation to be restored, don’t do this. Don’t cheat in the tournament.

Shadow Sugimura: ... Alright. If I want to remain rich, if not in money, then in reputation, I shouldn’t be such a Scrooge. I should treat others fairly and not look down on them. It’s not about the money, it’s about seeing others happy. Because as long as they are happy, I should be happy as well.

Noir: Sounds like something my grandfather once said. Keep to that promise and you will see what we mean...

And who knows, maybe you will find someone you can spend the rest of you life with.

Shadow Sugimura: ... I will.

>With that, the Shadow returns to his true self. We take the Treasure and we leave the fading Palace.

>The next day, Christmas Eve. The last day of the Fight Before Christmas. We, Boss, Ken, Akihiko, Koromaru, Chie, and Yukiko were all at Cafe Leblanc waiting for Joe when we heard on the news.

News Caster: Good Morning, Japan! Before we bring you our breaking news, we would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas. Now, on to our story: Last night, Sugimura Sekitan, the son of a known politician who was forced into resignation after he was discovered to be a close supporter of Masayoshi Shido, had confessed to sabotaging matches in the Fight Before Christmas Tournament to ensure that the fighter he sponsored, Joe Yuuki, would come out the victor. Sugimura is currently in holding for furthering questioning. As for Yuuki, he was not happy to hear that victories up to the final day were a lie and requested to drop out of the tournament... However, his fiance, Maki Takakura, daughter of retired boxer, George Takizawa, Yuuki’s coach, Yuuki’s fans, and even Yuuki’s long time rival, Joe Akamine, managed to convince Yuuki to continue participating. More news on this as it unfolds and the last day of the tournament shall proceed.

Well done, everyone!

Koromaru: Woof!

You bet! Hey, Ren, let’s see the Treasure.

I’ve seen those before. Sugimura’s mother purchased them for mine and Sugimura’s wedding. I guess he kept them in case I changed my mind... Which would never happen.

That’s probably a good thing you didn’t marry him. You way too dependent for that.

Thanks. I know me and Yuuki are rivals, but I know he really wanted to do this. It wasn’t easy trying to convince him, but me and Maki managed to do it.

Joe: Again, thanks... And thanks again for the change of heart. Anyway, me and Ryuichi will be waiting for you at the station.

Ren: Right. See you there.

>With that, Joe leaves for the station to wait for us with Ryuichi.

Boss: I take it he knows.

Futaba: Yuta told him, no thanks to the King telling Yuta in the first place.

Will we be okay with that?

Ren: We trust Joe and Yuta. They hasn’t told Ryuichi or Setsuko or anyone else. We can be thankful for that.

Boss: Right. Well, you best be off.
