Rachel & Luce, Imagine Me and You

50: I Know What You Need Right Now

She's giving it her all. Not just by getting every step, skip and spin, but also by swinging her arms and throwing her hips in like there's no tomorrow.

And she's not the only one.

Every time she looks at Rachel, she's catching her doing the same. No, not even the same. The exact same. All their moves are in sync, even when they're not following the instructions, and if they look anything like Luce is feeling right now, then they must look amazing!

Singing along finally gives her the chance to tell Rachel what's happening to her every time they're together - knees shaking, head spinning and heart beating indeed! - and when their hands find each other for another twirl she knows she can add some insane electricity to that list.

But above all there's the laughter and fun. The genuine feeling of ease and comfort. Of letting go of her everlasting keeping-it-together demeanor, even if it's just for a few minutes.

With the final verdict of the dancing machine - the statement that they rule (which she can't deny) - the song comes to an end. And so does the moment.

As she bends down to pick up her jumper from the floor, Luce takes a deep breath, hoping to get her heartbeat back under control.

"I said I felt like dancing," she laughs as soon as her eyes meet Rachel's again, "Not going for a complete work-out!"

Rachel smirks at her. "Just admit you had fun."

"I had fun," Luce confesses with a smile, though still panting. "But I might also have overheated a bit."

Right then Rachel’s eyes show a sparkle that Luce is starting to recognize by now. "Well, I don't want to rule everything, but I think I know what you need right now."

Luce raises her brows, curious for what comes next.

"How does an ice cold beer sound to you?" Rachel asks her, already spinning on her heels to find the arcade's exit.

"Pretty disgusting," Luce thinks, as she quickly follows her outside, but she manages to swallow that answer. She might not be very fond of beer, but Rachel could be right: going for a drink might actually help her cling on to her relaxed self a little longer. And that's all she really wants right now - the little longer part, that is.

When she catches up, Rachel looks at her again, still waiting for her acceptance. "So, you're in?" she grins.

"Always," Luce nods, stuffing her hands in her pockets while mirroring her smile. Oh, she's in... just way, way too deep.

similiarities i noticed between rachel and luce from imagine me and you (2005) and dani and jamie from the haunting of bly manor (2020)

there is a 'straight' (cough cough) one and a gay one

the 'straight' one had been in a long term romantic relationship with their male best friend

the gay one works with plants

something about the facial structure of piper perabo reminds me of victoria pedretti

something about luce's vibes remind me of jamie

'straight one' freaks out the first time they are about to kiss first time they kiss is surrounded by plants

they end up together <3

oh also they both made me cry

Currently bawling my eyes out. Why, you might ask? Well there's an obvious culprit and that would be ME because I decided to watch, for the nth time, Imagine Me & You and now I can't process what I'm feeling. All I know is that it is in the "top 10 best movie of all time" for me, and I'm not really a fan of romcoms so that's saying something. This movie has such a hold on me I can't even begin to explain it, I just love it and I'll always want to watch it again
