You know, I'm so happy for Letters from Watson. I'm not reading/following them because I have the canon practically memorized, but I am getting such joy out of seeing so many new people reading the original Holmes stories.
(Unfortunately I'm not super into Holmes right now, but those stories are an integral part of who I am, so I will always be a little bit into it. It just ebbs and flows. Although I must admit, seeing all these posts about the stories is kinda rekindling my interest. 🙂)
I'm not a Holmes purist by any means. I figure if it keeps the spirit alive, make Holmes and Watson into anything you like!
However, I WAS getting a little tired of a lot of people JUST watching the shows and not knowing about or not caring about the books. Like, why relegate yourself to just one version? Read the books! Make up your own mind what Holmes would or wouldn't do!
These characters are wonderful, and made in precise but...how do I put this? Kinda holey? strokes. Like, what was their childhood like? How old are they? Who knows?! Make up your own headcanon!
Okay, I think I've gotten away from my point. Which was, um... New people reading the originals! It just brings back so many happy memories for me of me discovering them and becoming obsessed. And it makes me feel like I'm not alone in thinking that ACD's Holmes was cool. And so much MORE than just a hot guy being rude to people! *coughsBeebLockcough*
Anyway. Just wanted to say that. Keep fangirling, you guys! Never let the light go out.
