Looking for a word

"Cardinal" numbers tell how many. (one, two, three apples)

"Ordinal" numbers tell what order. (first, second third apple)

There are a few words that tell "how many times". As far as I can find, there are only three in English: once, twice, and thrice. This is number as an adverb, but I can't find a name for it.

i used to be so good at writing strong, thoroughly-researched, thoroughly-edited essays.

as a kid in hs, my teacher literally came up to me, holding my 40 page essay on the intersection of the European witch hunts and capitalism/exploitation/gender roles (it was supposed to be 7 pages...whoops) and went like "this is literally a master's-degree level thesis. what are you doing?? you could literally use this as your final dissertation in a master's program, what the fuck."

NOW??? NOW?? you'd think I'd be oh so skilled. but alas. i can barely piece together two ideas. adhd skill-regression is so so real. im SOBBING

i was thinking about that post comparing Jessica Rabbit as an asexual to Barbie and an asexual and then i thought of the Neil Gaiman post (was it a post?) about Crowley and Aziraphale being asexual sexless and then this happened.

What is a word that is not "regret" in that, looking back, you would have made the same choice, knowing the same outcome, and accepting the consequences as they played out, but still sorry the choice had to be made and the result on other people. Like not sorry you made the choice, and not really sorry planoit the outcome, but sorry the choice had to be made in the first place?

Is there a word?

It's not guilt, it isn't regret, I'm not really sure it's remorse, although that may be the closest.
