Kuai Liang is not "nice"
This is technically the second part of my character analysis for Kuai Liang, so be sure to check out the first part focusing on Kuai Liang's personality, goals and his relationship with his brothers and Harumi.
This part will focus on how Kuai Liang treats other characters and upon closer inspection, the image of the "sweet wholesome guy everyone adores" that the fandom crafted for him starts to crumble very quickly.
Tumblr media
Kitana and Mileena:
Mileena: My bond with Kitana can't be broken. Scorpion: I'd once thought the same of mine with Bi-Han.
Why exactly is Kuai Liang trying to make Mileena doubt Kitana's loyalty to her? We have all seen Kitana's tower ending. She has gone out of her way to secure her sister's reign, she defends Mileena fiercely and is genuinely worried about her. It upsets her to see other members of the court conspiring against her sister. Kitana is nothing but loyal to Mileena, in a way Kuai Liang was never loyal to Bi-Han.
"I'm disappointed in my brother's decisions and therefore everyone else's siblings suck too." That's not a healthy or mature mindset. He's projecting his own family issues onto Mileena and Kitana, who actually share a wholesome bond, and tries to create distrust and dispute where there is none. And why? Out of jealousy? It's hard to tell, but this was uncalled for.
It's particularly awful because Kitana is actually trying to help fix Kuai Liang's relationship with his own brother while it seems Kuai Liang is trying to ruin hers with Mileena.
Kitana: You've broken Kuai Liang's heart. Sub-Zero: It won't be the only part of him I damage.
Kitana: I understand congratulations are in order. Scorpion: How did news of my marriage reach Outworld?
Kitana: Weapons. Soldiers. Whatever you -- Scorpion: I have all that I need to defeat Bi-Han.
She's also offering him her and Outworld's support and is really just being nice to him, yet he never once shows gratitude and even tries to plant doubts about her in her sister's mind behind her back.
Tumblr media
Nitara:
Scorpion: If you would only feed on lower species -- Nitara: Humans are a lower species.
"Lower species"? What species exactly is Kuai Liang talking about here? What's his definition of a lower species? Tarkatans? Netherrealmers? One could assume he means animals, but then why doesn't he say so? Instead, he's using a term that's often used in f*cist language. Who or what he's referring to isn't specified either, but it's definitely a questionable choice of words regardless.
Let's be honest, the mindset that there's "lower species" that are not deserving of life, as Kuai Liang basically implies by claiming Nitara should feed on them instead, says quite a lot about the kind of person he is. No matter what he's speaking of here, I still think this is pretty fucked up from any standpoint, especially because Kuai Liang doesn't explicitly say that he's talking about animals.
This is just my opinion, but even if he were to "only" be talking about animals here, I think it's downright wrong to say any animals are a "lower species", given the fact that we very much depend on certain animals for our own survival. Even if we give Kuai Liang the benefit of the doubt, he still sounds incredibly uneducated and ignorant. To not value the life of other creatures is not a good look on him, but then again we've seen how much he values his own brother's life so the bar is quite literally in hell.
Tumblr media
Raiden:
Scorpion: Liu Kang's revelation has shaken my faith in him. Raiden: Understandable, given what he chose to hide.
Reptile: Am I right to put faith in Liu Kang? Scorpion: He's always proven worthy of mine.
Oh, has he now?
Kuai Liang is beginning to sound two-faced. He's certainly not conflicted because he still continues to follow Liu Kang and advices others to do the same. He also doesn't openly criticize or doubt Liu Kang like Tomáš and Bi-Han do. But he himself has lost some of his faith in Liu Kang, yet he judges Bi-Han for having done the same thing? Where does any of that make sense?
Tumblr media
Bi-Han:
Scorpion: You would shed your brother's blood? Sub-Zero: Because you choose to stand in my way.
The first blood shed was Bi-Han's, not Kuai Liang's, but because Bi-Han doesn't bear a visible scar, no one acknowledges that.
Tumblr media
Kuai Liang is once again showing manipulative behavior here. Blaming everything on his brother and pretending he did nothing wrong. Guilt tripping Bi-Han for something he himself has done.
Kuai Liang's actions are not even the biggest problem here. You can somehow justify what he did with him being hurt/angry when he found out about the true circumstances of his father's death. It's the fact that he refuses to take any responsibility for what he did and acts completely innocent although he's anything but, that shows he's not who the fandom makes him out to be.
Even Bi-Han stands by what he does. Kuai Liang can't even own up to his actions.
Tumblr media
Liu Kang:
Liu Kang: You allow vengeance to consume you. Scorpion: I should not punish Bi-Han for his crimes?
So, Liu Kang seems concerned with Kuai Liang's thirst for vengeance. What's even more noteworthy is that we have Kuai Liang, a mortal, speak to Liu Kang, a literal god, about punishing someone else as if he's entitled to do so? Should it not be up to Liu Kang to decide whether Bi-Han deserves forgiveness or punishment? Do we need to add a god complex to the list of Kuai Liang's flaws?
There's nothing honorable about vengeance. It's honorable to be the bigger person and to forgive.
As Chinese philosopher Confucius said:
“Love thy neighbour as thyself: Do not do to others what thou wouldst not wish be done to thyself: Forgive injuries. Forgive thy enemy, be reconciled to him, give him assistance, invoke God in his behalf.”
Kuai Liang has none of that honor he claims to value.
Tumblr media
Tanya:
Tanya: Liu Kang says we can trust you. Kuai Liang: As long as Outworld's goals don't conflict with Earthrealm's.
Let me translate it: "No, you can't. I'll stop being a reliable ally and might betray you as soon as our interests no longer align." Which is fair enough, he doesn't owe Outworld his loyalty. It's, however, funny that that's exactly what Bi-Han did with Liu Kang/Earthrealm too, but for some reason Kuai Liang is still delusional enough to think he's a more honorable man than his brother?
Tumblr media
Kung Lao:
Kung Lao: I bet I could be Shirai Ryu. Scorpion: First, you must learn humility.
Also Scorpion:
Ashrah: I'd do well to follow your example. Scorpion: Then start by studying my kombat.
Quan Chi: Your brother told me of all your weaknesses. Scorpion: A short conversation, sorcerer?
Kuai Liang is a hypocrite who doesn't practice what he preaches. These are just two of many dialogues in which he comes off as overly confident and boastful. He will try to force his own values and ideals onto others but will not uphold them himself. These dialogues are not even the only example of his hypocrisy, but more of that to come later.
Tumblr media
Smoke and the Shaolin monks:
Scorpion: Was it worth it, training with the Shaolin? Smoke: Let me show you what I learned.
Yet another example for Kuai Liang's arrogance. "Was it worth it?" What's that even supposed to mean? Admittedly, this might not sound as bad compared to everything else he's said but I invite you to go and listen to this specific intro and pay attention to the tone of his voice. To me, it very much sounds like, as a former Lin Kuei, he thinks there's nothing the monks can teach him and Tomáš anymore and therefore he sees training with them as a waste of time. Overall, Kuai Liang seems to hold little respect for his allies. He might not outright say it, but there's definitely a superiority complex there.
Tumblr media
Johnny:
Scorpion: Your mansion was unduly extravagant. Johnny Cage: It came with the megastardom. Package deal.
What gives Kuai Liang the right to judge Johnny for what he does with his money that he's earned from his movies? Judging people and acting like he has the moral high ground over them in any situation is something Kuai Liang does a lot. That alone might not automatically make him a bad person, but it's tasteless and impolite nonetheless.
Johnny Cage: With your skills you'd be a hit, Kuai Liang. Scorpion: Do I look like an entertainer?
Again, if you listen to the actual intro, the distaste in his voice is obvious. He seems to not have much respect for Johnny's profession or for most of his allies' professions, really. Remember his reaction to Tomáš training with the Shaolin monks?
Tumblr media
Rain:
Scorpion: Like a dog, you bit the hand that fed you. Rain: You've no right to judge me, Earthrealmer.
He doesn't -- because did Kuai Liang not do the same to Bi-Han? It doesn't matter that Bi-Han chose the wrong side, Kuai Liang's oath was to his grandmaster, not to Earthrealm. Bi-Han broke his oath to Earthrealm and by breaking his own oath to his brother, Kuai Liang is no better. And as I already explained in the first part of my analysis, Kuai Liang always meant to overthrow Bi-Han, even before Bi-Han abandoned his duties to defend Earthrealm. Bi-Han gave in to corruption and became a traitor, Kuai Liang was always a traitor in disguise. Kuai Liang is yet again being a hypocrite in this situation and displays double standards.
Tumblr media
Kenshi:
Scorpion: Do not let Sento become a crutch. Kenshi: I could win this fight with or without it.
Does anyone else think this comment sounds a lot like ableism? Who is he to tell a disabled man how to handle his disability? Kenshi is a badass, he's proven that countless of times and he doesn't need Kuai Liang's advice, but Kuai Liang has a habit of acting like he knows better than others.
Tumblr media
Bi-Han (again):
Shang Tsung: It was all too simple, pulling your brother's strings. Kuai Liang: It sickens me that he was so easily exploited.
Bi-Han fell victim to Shang Tsung's manipulation, yet here Kuai Liang is, blaming the victim. Meanwhile, Tomáš:
Smoke: I rue the day I ever met you. Quan Chi: No sense dwelling on the past, Tomáš.
Tomáš regrets ever meeting the sorcerers because he rightfully blames the people responsible for this whole mess, Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, not Bi-Han. Kuai Liang is miles away from the same level of emotional maturity Tomáš has.
Scorpion: "Bi-Han's trail has led me to Sun Do." Li Mei: "I'll abide no vigilante justice, Kuai Liang."
Scorpion: If you know where he is, tell me. General Shao: As if I would spill your brother's secrets.
Scorpion: I need help to find Bi-Han. Johnny Cage: Y'know I was only a TV detective, right?
Kuai Liang is making his own family feud everyone else's problem.
SPOILERS: At the same time, when Bi-Han will crash Kuai Liang's wedding in the dlc according to leaks, Kuai Liang will "apologize" to those who attended that they got dragged into his war with Bi-Han, once again painting his brother as the villain. Could he be any more duplicitous? I think the main reason why Smoke is not mentioned in any leaks is because the writers might deliberately not want him to be there because the way Kuai Liang acts (wanting to kill Frost, leaving Bi-Han to suffer and die) would go against everything Tomáš believes in and they can't have someone make Scorpion look bad, so they decided to just have Tomáš not be there at all. If that doesn't say it all, I don't know what will.
Tumblr media
Kuai Liang:
Scorpion: I won't be consumed by vengeance. Scorpion: How can your father's death not burn you.
You know it's bad when your own alternate self starts judging you and criticizing your ways.
Tumblr media
Geras:
Scorpion: I want to see the moment my father died. Geras: You are not ready to receive that knowledge.
I wonder why Geras denied Kuai Liang's request. Is he concerned that actually witnessing the event will make Kuai Liang lose his mind completely and he will make even more of an effort to kill Bi-Han? He surely seems to think Kuai Liang is too unstable to receive that information. But then again, Kuai Liang already wants to kill Bi-Han, he already tried to do it and he already knows what happened. When will he be ready in Geras' opinion? Once he already forgave Bi-Han (which seems like it won't happen at all)? Would that not just reignite his old hatred? Could it be that there's more to the death of Kuai Liang's father than we know? Is there something Geras is trying to hide from Kuai Liang on purpose?
Tumblr media
Ashrah:
Ashrah: Bi-Han can be redeemed. Scorpion: I don't see how that's possible.
It sounds a lot like Kuai Liang doesn't want it to be possible. He wants to deny his brother a chance at redemption. He's also once again acting like he knows better than everyone else. It's getting to the point where he seems self-righteous and out of touch with reality.
So, tell me again, after all that, why are we calling Kuai Liang a nice guy?
To conclude this, Kuai Liang only appears "nice" in direct comparison to Bi-Han, not necessarily because he's a better person, he's just the more agreeable one of the two. Take Bi-Han out of the picture and it's plain to see Kuai Liang is really not that nice. I also don't see how Kuai Liang is the poor, traumatized victim that never did anything wrong in his life, as fans like to describe him as. Yes, he suffered as well, but victims can also become aggressors. There are plenty of situations in which that's the case for Kuai Liang. Again, this is not hate or an attempt to completely demonize him, just to show that the fandom has a wrong idea of who Kuai Liang is and what he's like.

Hello is hug deprived anon again (this might be becoming my name oh no) and I’ve had an idea
I’m sure we can all agree that mammon deserves all the love, especially because his brothers are too mean to him, they pretend they don’t love him too constantly
So, what if Mammon is away for a week, doing photoshoots or dealing with witches or something, and MC is moping because they miss him,, like, they keep turning to their side to whisper to him and then like deflating when they see no Mammon,, and like, reaching out on that side to hold his hand and then being confused when there’s nothing there, and then they realize :( maybe they stole his blanket from his room because it smells like him, so it’s the best substitute for Mammon hugs while he’s away
Maybe Beel (idk if any of the other bros would be nice enough to tell him) is texting him like “your human is too sad come back soon” and sending him pictures of MC doing this stuff
When Mammon returns MC jumps on him for hugs like “you’re home!!!!!”
Idk I think he’d cry
I think he would feel very loved and probably also cry abt it
What you think? What do you think he’d do?
(If you choose not to write anything about this no worries obviously) (but I eventually might lol I think it’d be very cute and make him very happy to have someone who really misses him when he’s away)
HI!! haha if you want and plan to request more, feel free to pick an anon name! or I could just call you something like hug LOL
wayyy back when I first got into obey me in like 2021, there was this one specific fic I read kind of similar to his idea where mammon was upset at be mistreated and mc stood up for him and it was this cute bonding moment, and this request kinda reminded me of that!! gonna try to channel it a little bit
this idea is literally so cute and I'd be happy to write it! it makes my brain like a cat who has the zoomies hehe enjoy :D
How Ironic
You watched agonizingly as the clock ticked by even slower than usual. You'd been trying to do some sort of work, or anything other than stare at the damned clock forever now, but you just couldn't focus.
It had been exactly four days, six hours, and fifteen minutes and counting since Mammon had left for a week long promotional photoshoot in another ring of hell. You had your sad, but sweet send off and you promise yourself that time apart might be good for you. After all, it always felt like you could never get anything done with Mammon around. Yet, here you were, staring blankly at a clock with a blank piece of paper and pen in front of you.
Finally deciding to throw in the towel for now, you got up from your desk in your room. A walk to a local convivence store was in order. Snacks and fresh air wasn't a combo you could pass up. On your way out, you passed the door to his room which was slightly ajar. You briefly had the thought to poke your head in and ask him if he wanted to come, before remembering that he wouldn't be in there. You continued your walk to the front door, where you put on your shoes and grabbed a bag that had a few necessities in it for the short journey.
Thankfully, you hadn't passed any of his brothers on the way there, meaning you didn't have to explain yourself or have them ask to tag along. While you enjoyed their company, they weren't Mammon. If you needed help, you could always summon one of them thanks to the pacts, but you needed this short walk to clear your head.
The air was unfortunately stifling and overly humid outside, making you glad you were dressed light. It was basically just your pajamas but when you went out with Mammon, the two of you did this every time. As you autopiloted to your favorite corner store, your thoughts wandered back to Mammon again. You wondered how he was doing and if he missed being at home. You couldn't blame him if he didn't and hoped he was enjoying his time away from home as much as you wished he was by your side.
Once you got to the store, you wandered around for a bit, debating what to get. After grabbing a small basket, you began to pile in various things that sounded good. Once the basket was full, you came to the realization that all the snacks were Mammon's favorites; hell sauce flavored instant noodles, Chaos Devil Cider and ginger ale to mix, Devilbee honey popcorn, and a variety pack of Devildom gummies. This is what he introduced you to the first time you did a snack run together. You decided, in light of this discovery, to buy extras for him for when he got back. You figured he would enjoy it and it was the least you could do to thank him for introducing you to so many tasty things you would've not tried otherwise. Once you checked out, you returned back to the House of Lamentation with a new skip in your step.
You made your way back up to your room, and passed the ajar door of Mammon's room again. Memories of the two of you together flooded back again, and you couldn't help but step in. Just being in his room was like he was really right next to you again. You couldn't help but sit on his sofa and think about how much you missed him even though it hadn't even been a full week. His absence made you realize how much you missed his presence. After a moment, you decide to leave the snacks you bought for him on his bedside table so his brothers were less likely to wander in and find them before him.
As you were setting down everything you'd gotten for him, you something caught your eye just about to fall off the end of his bed. After you picked it off the edge of his bed, you realized it was the hoodie he always wore around the house. It was faded from lots of usage and the strings were fraying. You knew it smelt like his cologne and his shampoo from all of the tight embraces he'd given you while wearing it. You for sure thought he would've taken it with him, but it looked as if he had thrown it off last minute and thrown it on his bed without looking back.
Looking around as if someone might be watching (which could very well be the case since Lucifer was notoriously quiet), you pulled it to your chest and deeply inhaled. Of course, there was the chance that it was dirty, but you couldn't care less. It wasn't anything you hadn't seen of him before. Since there really wasn't anything stopping you, you took it back to your room with you. You weren't even really that cold, in all honesty. It was more of the idea that he was right next to you since it smelt just like him.
You continued your night like you had before you left, just with his hoodie on. You were magically much more productive wearing it and you managed to get several things done. Usually, you would be chatting with Mammon on the phone at about this time to talk about how your days were, but he was unfortunately busy with something work related. Instead, you decided to send him a sweet goodnight text and send a picture of your set up with the food and the show you've been watching one episode at a time. Not expecting a response before you called it a night, you turn your phone off and focused on eating and watching tv.
Beel wasn't sure what woke him up first: his stomach or Mammon blowing up his phone. Sitting up in his bed, he peered at his screen, squinting at it. He had at least twenty texts from his brother asking him to check on Mc for him after they hadn't responded to his texts. He wasn't sure if Mammon knew they were probably asleep or if he was just worrying for no reason. Either way, he decided to check on them for him anways. After his kitchen run, of course.
After letting Mammon know, he got out of bed and left his room. On his way to the kitchen, however, he ended up following the smell of cup noodles to Mc's room. There, he was able to complete both of his missions. He snapped a picture of Mc fast asleep with a couple half finished snacks, then took the snacks. Mission complete.
Mammon was only halfway through the only kind of dumb business dinner when he spammed Beel about Mc. He was more worried than he would admit to himself about them. He knew it was probably nothing and that they had fallen asleep, but Beel was usually awake at this time eating anyways. The food was nice and he was the star of the show, but the dinner was much too stifling for his taste. Most importantly, it was cutting into his precious time with Mc, something he looked forward to at the end of every day. He loved getting to hear their voice after being away from them for so long. He missed getting to see them in person, but getting to hear them was next best.
As he was poking at his food, he finally got the response he was waiting hand and foot on. Beel had responded with just an image at first, so he scrambled to open it. He breathed a sigh of relief. It was a picture of his beloved Mc fast asleep in their bed. You looked so peaceful but your face was barely visible because of the hood pulled up over your eyes. After squinting, he realized the hoodie you were wearing looked oddly familiar. He realized that that was his hoodie, the one he'd left on his bed when he was late the morning he left.
He could barely contain his excitement and it must had been evident on his face since those around him glanced at him, and then between each other a few times. He saved the photo to his phone, and texted Beel back a thanks. As everyone talked around him, he debating asking to leave the shoot early right then and there. If he left right now, he would be able to make it home before you woke up. While he entertained this thought for a while, eventually he decided to stick it out since there were only a few days left. As soon as he was allowed to leave, however, he would buy you something with the paycheck he'd be given. Something nice, maybe a gold bracelet that would remind you of him when you see it. He spent the rest of the night thinking, then dreaming about you. He could only hope you were doing the same. (you were <3)
After those final two and a half agonizing days and many texts later, it was finally time for Mammon to return home. For now, he decided to leave his car parked just outside the house, since he may or may not have been planning to take you out to dinner later that day. As soon as he walked in the door, one of his suitcases in tow, something, or rather someone, attacked him with a flying hug. At first, he was processing the situation as Mc began to squeal and squeeze him as tight as they could into a hug. He wasn't really sure where they had come from, but he knew who it was as soon as their arms were around him.
"MAMMON!" Mc swung the both of them around, buzzing with excitement. "Diavolo, I missed you so much. I don't want to let go of you. If you don't take me with you next time, I might die of sadness and loneliness!" Their arms were around his neck, and their face in his chest. He finally let go of his suitcase and hugged them back. He held them close, shutting his eyes for a moment to take it all in.
"I missed ya too. 's good to be back." He, again, couldn't stop the smile from growing on his face. His brothers never expressed themselves the way Mc was to him in that moment, so he wasn't quite sure how to feel. They never seemed excited to see him, so it was so refreshing to see Mc visibly excited and made him feel truly loved. All their time apart was worth moments like these.
As MC was squealing, a few of his brothers began to gather around the foyer around them. Perhaps they heard them, or maybe they knew he'd be back today at around this time. Either way, he waved at them, still keeping an arm around Mc.
"Guys! Mammon is back." Mc nuzzled his neck, still holding onto him.
"We can see that." Belphie remarked, sounding unamused. Mammon's smile faded a little. So, they didn't care that he was back, did they? He should've expected that from them. Actually, they probably wished he'd been gone for longer with the way they treated him sometimes.
"I talked to you guys about this. I don't expect you to do what I'm doing, but you need to show him you're happy he's back. You can't lie, he's irreplaceable! I don't know what I'd do without him, and I missed him so much." Just like that, Mc's words lifted him back up. Suddenly, he was no longer upset that his brothers didn't care. He had the attention and care from the person he thought about the entire time he was gone. "Shame on you all. Don't expect me to talk to you for the next few days. Let's get your things from the car, and go upstairs. We have so much to catch up on!" Mc only let go of his neck to grab his hand instead. They dragged him back out of the house, shutting the door with their foot behind the two of them.
"Mc, ya didn't have to do all that fer me..." Mammon glanced back at the shut door. His brothers didn't open it, or try to follow them.
"But I did! You're my first man, after all. I really can't express how much I missed you and just saying it doesn't feel like enough." They reached into the trunk of his car to begin taking out his suitcases. Mammon moved them aside gently, not wanting them to do even more for him that he felt as if he didn't deserve.
Mammon was silent for a moment, then decided to go digging through his backpack for the bracelet he'd bought for you. He hoped it would make it easier to tell you how he felt. "Here, this is fer you." He presented the small, black box to them. Looking caught off guard, they accepted it and opened it carefully. Your mouth dropped open as you saw the golden piece of jewelry he bought for you on the drive back.
"Mammon! This is beautiful. Thank you so much! But, I don't understand why. What's the occasion?" You removed it from the box and held it up to the light to study it. Several small charms hung off of it.
"That's the thing. There isn't one." He took a deep breath and looked down at his feet before continuing. "I just... yer so good to me. Ya texted me daily, called me daily, thought about me while I was gone, and even waited fer me like that so ya could surprise me when I got back. Ya care, and I know I'm not the best with showin' I care and it makes me feel shitty. Thank you, fer everythin'. I really missed ya." He couldn't see how Mc reacted, but was essentially tackled into another hug again by them.
"Mams, you show me you care in little ways. Just because you don't say it, doesn't mean that you don't. You just being back here with me is more than enough." He immediately thought about how ironic the entire situation was. He never actually told them how he felt and treated them like garbage sometimes, and he thought it might've been pushing the person he cared for most away, but really, he never had to worry about that. he'd never considered that they could see past his inability to admit his feelings. He hugged them back, savoring the moment since this time they were alone.
"Thank you Mc." He held back happy tears.
"No, thank you! Thank you for always being by my side. Now, instead of actually unpacking, let's just lock the car and sneak back inside. Maybe they'll eventually feel sorry and come looking for us, but we'll actually be hiding right under their noses. It'll be like a spy mission." Mc giggled leaning back to see his face. Mammon let them look him in the eyes, glistening tears and all.
"Yeah, let's do that. We can watch that movie ya wanted to watch and just share headphones." He found himself joining in with the quiet laughing along to something he wasn't sure either of them really understood. Something he did understand however, was that he knew he was loved back by the one he loved the most, and couldn't ask for more.

i love ur bloodmoon thoughts sm and i agree with all of them ‼️‼️
they squandered his character sm and theres barely been any development since he got brought back to life… especially on the KC side. id love to see how youd rewrite it tbh- or if you want feel free to just use this ask as a bloodmoon thoughts dump
ALRIGHT SO We can run along with bm2 But also them going 'no their NOT the original thus we dont need to think about their charascter' as they seemingly established a bit with that but also not? Like that kinda furthers BM's whole arc of being treated like a murder machine (he was LITERALLY rebuilt for that, nothing more than tool!), and yet instead of USING THAT (which like.... we kinda got a bit of that with Eclipse, no i wont get into that.) they go 'HMNNN no, we dont wanna develop this further hes just villain' LIKE. SURE. ALRIGHT. BUT... YOU LITERALLY HAD SO MANY SET UPS WITH LIKE... His weird attachment to monty that one TIME yknow the 'hes my dad!' even tho hes not and its very debatable with Eclipse and KC depending how you wanna go about it (In terms of WHO made bloodmoon its Eclipse whos derived from KC and Moon and SUN.) Where was I YEAH HIS THEME OF NO ONE IS FAMILY BUT BLOODMOON. Only THEY understand that theyre not a tool or worthless! (Yknow just completely missing a way to use their codependence to help further their own coping of SEVERAL THINGS.) Yet he still STILL seeked out and called KC father, he still somewhat has thoughts on family. He's going after EARTH who's just vibin' trying to be accepting, even jealous of LUNAR for 1) being brought back and two) survived Eclipse and lives happily (sorta) and while begrudgingly i must say forgot bloodmoon. (WHICH LIKE. THATS THEIR OWN FAULT FOR NOT DRAGGING LUNAR INTO THAT PLOT EVEN THO HE HAD ALL THIS BLOODMOON INFO DURING THAT WHOLE THING. not used it ONCE. they purposely left lunar out of that and thats annoying. chaos sibligns 4 lyfe) Anyway you COULD so still use that in regards to Sun trying to reach out to them ('I wouldve loved another brother' will forever be brought up. also literally in the same convo sun does admit hed kill em again but WE'RE FOCUSING ON THE FAMILY PART GUYS) I'd have to scrap some like... lets see here.... UmMM i CAN use the attacking lunar thing still. Cause whole jealous thing they didnt understnad their own thoughtS (THEY THOUGHT MONTY WAS THEIR PARENT WHICH LIKE??? a stretch honestly. cmon we know this. theyre definitely making their own excuses) iDK ABOUT attacking earth, cause by that point everyone is kinda dead set on murdering them its actually pretty bad by that point unless KC comes back jesus style and goes 'NO. I'll handle this' proceeds to drag bloodmoon off into the desert for family bonding time (and rehabilitation.) Which he wont but we also gotta remember Bloodmoon is deliberately being used a scapegoat (despite yknow... he did DO all that by his volition still like he WOULD NOT have gone after kc like that if not for ruin going 'hey u wanna see ur dad who totoally didnt care for ur ass' or 'you should totally go kill a bunch of people. and then threaten lunar and earth BUT WAIT no killing ill shock u!' im losing focus but THEY WERE... sort of going somewhere with Bloodmoon not wanting to be a tool. AND having solar interfere (I still hate that whole 'he reminds me of my moon thus he must die'. Retcons... everywhere. Remember when he wanted to save his moon?? yeah? cool cause ill never forget that actually.) KC dying actually WOULDNT have been so bad (aside the... suddenly being an ass about it. But he was direct to bloodmoon about 'BRUH UR BEING USED.' and them never actually... bringing that up too much) angering BM enough to kill KC is actually pretty solid way to use the whole 'Bm not satisfied with Killing' as a very direct way KC's words last on BM especially BM's whole unstable emotions of NOT understanding the feelings theyre going through because of that other than anger (denial, grief, confusion and conflict of how Hurt that mustve been they wanted more family) oh this is getting long and im losing focus.

Everything to-do with the couch (and the metaphor of it all) in S6;
- So we first get it in the 6x01 Buckley-Diaz family Diaz scene and I won’t go into too much detail because the layers in that scene have been discussed a lot. But basically Chris brings it up and Eddie first links it to Buck’s relationships, therefore linking it to both of them. Then Buck agrees and claims he doesn’t want to ‘pick the wrong couch again’.
- The only other person he brings it up to is Bobby. Where he once again states he’s afraid of making a mistake. I think it’s interesting he says it to Bobby, his father figure, due to the theme of fatherhood for both Buck this season but also a big theme on its own. I also think that both of these scenes signify that the couch metaphor is a two part thing. For his familial relation to the Diaz’s which will be the s6 textual confirmation and then how that can shift into romantic buddie in s7.
- At the end of 6x01 Buck pulls his single seater to where the couch was, and Oliver confirmed they debated how they would shoot this before deciding on a way that shows Buck satisfied rn being single.
- Buck’s couch isn’t really discussed or focused on in the rest of 6A but Eddie’s does begin to get a focus in scenes in 6x04 and 6x09.
- The first time we see it is in 6x04 when he sits on it to video call his father to discuss Chris’s behaviour, once again linking it to fatherhood. And then later he talks to Chris on it after he catches him playing video games when he shouldn’t be, and they talk about him growing up and Eddie’s want to protect him. It shows how good of a father he is but also how he has to accept Chris is growing up and understand how Chris feels about having his dad around all the time. (This also kinda sets up Eddie’s loneliness arc subtly).
- Then in 6x09 it’s Eddie playing video games, sat infront of the couch before he’s brought into Buck’s group call where the topic is once again fatherhood! And Eddie doesn’t really speak on the call other than to act unsure and his facial expressions tell he is not fully on board with Buck’s decisions. Then he leaves and hangs up first. We then see him again as part of the finale montage asleep on his couch (starting the first of three people we see sleeping on it this season). He sleeps laying out fully on the couch, but his head is on the right side, where he normally sits on the couch in past buddie scenes, his place on the couch is there. I also love how the montage shows all the couples sleeping in bed together and the intersects Buck and Eddie sleeping alone in continuous shots.
- The couch is then brought back up again for Buck in 6x11, in his coma dream Buck sits on it to watch football with his Father and Brother, bonding and trying to have something he thought he wanted but never had (a strong familial relationship with his dad and the brother he lost).
Then later it’s brought up in his recovery when his mother insists on getting him one. Maddie brings up how the couch for Buck is a metaphor, which I just love because I can imagine him trying to explain it to more people like he did with Eddie, Chris and Bobby. Anyways, his mother says she’ll get him one for ‘guests’ to sleep on which I find fascinating because we have literally only seen Buck on this couch since his mom got it. Tying back to the idea that Buck’s a guest in his own home.
- So in 6x12 we are fully brought back on the couch metaphor for relationships train, as it comes direct you after an interview Oliver did after 6x11 confirming that we are right to read into it the way we have. Buck cannot sleep on the uncomfortable couch Margaret got him, but finds himself drifting off in seconds after he goes to Eddie’s and sits down. At ease. He even asks when he wakes up ‘how did I fall asleep so fast?’ A wink wink nudge nudge- that he feels comfortable and at home at Eddie’s.
-In 6x13 the Buckley-Diaz scenes occur at Buck’s loft but the two there are shot to purposely omit Buck’s couch.
-In 6x15 we have the Chris falling asleep on the couch. A scene that perfectly parallels Buck falling asleep on the couch. And like everything about this scene is the same, Eddie leaving them awake to go get something from the kitchen, the framing of him walking back in, the way Eddie walks back in and the way the camera lingers back on him and then pans to the sleeping person on the couch. (Chris in the middle, Buck on the left- there places on the couch). And I see people saying this has to mean something, and ofc it does! Everything that is written and shot in certain ways mean stuff in media especially something this on the nose.
It was also pointed out that we see people sleeping on the couch every three eps; 6x09, 6x12, 6x15 and 6x18 does seem like a great time to get them all on it together!
- Finally, I also need to talk about the two couches in 6x17 because once again it was loud!!! With Eddie’s couch we have Chris and him sat on it doing Chris’s homework which is a place I don’t think we’ve seen them do it before? And they’re sat in their places with a big space beside Chris clearly open for someone to join them and their family. The door behind them is also left wide open, like they’re just waiting for said person to realise his place and role in both their lives (as a father and as a partner-not romantic yet but in the future).
Then we go back to Buck’s couch in 6x17, how Natalia and Buck were going to sit on it but were interrupted and didn’t! And then how after Buck saw Kameron and how she’d taken his bed, he went and sat on it with the pickles. I think this was very poignant because in a montage of love and families, Buck sitting on the wrong couch (which symbolises relationships) and eating the pickles (which symbolise parenthood) was just very loud. The two things he longs for were waiting for him at the start of the ep, the door was literally open for him, but he hasn’t seen the options under his nose yet. He doesn’t have the answers rn but he will.
So finally as we go into 6x18 I’m excited to see how the couch metaphor will wrap up because Andrew Meyers and all the 911 writers have really crafted something brilliant. I’m excited to see what Buck’s wrong couch goes through (Kameron goes into labour on it??) and I’m intrigued by Buck’s last scene being involved in the couch metaphor (Pls let it be what we think it is with all three of them on it together).
I just never thought I’d be writing so many posts about a couch before (and I’m British so I wanna write sofa so bad each time) but it has been so fun to see all the layers of this metaphor and how interwoven it has been in Buck, Eddie and Chris’s arcs this season.
TLDR: I think the couch represents both fatherhood, family and romantic relationships for Buck. With one being explicitly confirmed in the finale (fatherhood and his role in the Diaz family) and the other being left open to explore next season (buddie). And as a literature student I love it!

just some thoughts on the difference we see between Bro striders comics and Dave striders comics. There’s not any main point I want to make I just want to talk about it.
We don’t really see much of Bro Striders comics, in fact I think we only ever see one, which is this comic addressed to Dave which Dave is clearly uncomfortable about and think’s Bro is just doing to “get under your (dave’s) skin”
Tumblr media
The comic above shows 3 different muppet characters: A young Rowlf the dog, a baby version of Animal, and Kermit the frog ( At least I think so?) dressed as Billy the puppet from Saw. The comic shows Rowlf freaking out over accidentally killing Animal, scared what nanny will do to him ( Nanny is a character in the 1984 show “ Muppet babies “ , which is what this comic is about ) , in which Kermit asks Rowlf if he wants to play a game, probably because he feels like Rowlf does not value life enough than he should considering he just killed a baby Animal.
We don’t really know whether the “click” of the light is a supposed to represent Rowlfs imagination working and getting an idea or if it is a literal click of a light going on. Because of this, we don’t know if Rowlf is imagining his incoming punishment/test or if it will literally happen to him.
Regardless this comic is creepy as hell considering this is the only comic we actually get from Bro strider himself. It is literally a comic about Rowlf’s guilt killing a baby and getting a potential punishment for it.
There is something else I find interesting in regards to bro strider, which is when Dave creates a comic but claims he doesn’t like it because its “ too much like my bro’s stuff “ :
Tumblr media
the actual handwriting and art style REALLY gets me. The handwriting is practically the exact same in Bro’s comic and the art style is pretty close too, just less detailed. What really interests me is the fact this art style is really similar to Hussie’s  earlier comics he made that were really racist ( For people who don’t know, the name lil cal actually came from these earlier comics as well. lil cal was a racist caricature character in these comics) . The handwriting is the exact same as well. Bro’s handwriting is Hussie’s handwriting I suppose.
Dave didn’t really like this comic because it was too much like his Bro’s, giving us some indication that not all of Bro’s comics were really dark like the one we get. This comic is about drugs, violence, and getting women.
Now onto sweet bro and hella jeff:
Tumblr media
Just some obvious things:
The art style is really different
Ironically less cohesive than Bro’s stuff. You have to rely a lot on context to get some of the comics in SBAHJ to get what’s going on, it might not be clear especially when the style goes to complete dog shit. The comics also do a lot of “to be continued” shit.
Also less crude than bro’s stuff. Some of the comic is still about  drugs, getting women, and violence, but it’s less center front. There are incest jokes, though.
Now SBAHJ was actually made on the penny arcade forums. Hussie drew his own take on someone’s shitty parody of a comic trying to make fun of the “two gamer comic”. SBAHJ formed to show how much an original piece of media can change at the hand of the people viewing it. It later got turned into “Dave’s creation.”
To me SBAHJ has more of a focus on friendship and pissing around with your bro’s than what Bro’s stuff would be about. Bro’s stuff seems to be less about that found-brotherly bond and more focused on different things, but we can’t know for sure since we only have one thing made by him and another thing made by his brother who was heavily inspired by him. I just find it interesting how while Bro’s comics are about accidentally killing your friends, Dave’s are about being an absolute fool with them. ( Though this isnt exclusive.)

Top 5 Elden Ring's demigods
Argh... Could you've given me any HARDER top to make? :') No matter who I put below 5th place, I will feel like a huge prick @_@ Because they all deserve some praise, and some love. It is just incredibly good writing. Well, fine then, let's try.
Five - Morgott!
Tumblr media
I talked about him already. The absolute tear-jerker character, a member of oppressed minority, that is defending the very corrupt system that deems people like HIM worthless.... He made me cry (/srs ) more than once upon just this sentiment. He is very realistic, and very easy to sympathise with and feel bad for. He certainly radiates a giant soft spot, though (and not JUST because he has dad bod that is completely naked under his robes, hahaha). In a weird way, he reminds me of Asg0re, a character from my other fandom - a big "monster" King who did a lot of bad things on his way, and because of his mental wound, but in the end might melt upon a simple hug or be easily convinced. It is just not what a Soulsborne game would've let us experience, but... honestly, he has not only huge muscles, but also a huge HEART. I love this combination a LOT, it pulls the richest spectrum of emotions.
Four - Malenia!
Tumblr media
She is such a beautiful and impressive boss.... ...that I never talk about her. x) I can't quite explain how my focus works, sorry </3 She scares me a little - and it is not even her fault, but the thing that casually claimed her body, because superior deities have nothing better to do I guess :/ She is holding up very well for someone who has to live in a constant struggle with the horror plaguing her very being. And for someone having to hold up as a warrior of her dear brother's interests despite her body rotting as she goes. And having to repeat 'I am Malenia, blade of Miquella' like a mantra, since Rot is infamous to destroy the memories, and she must not forget what and who she is fighting for.
"She deserved better" is an understatement, I'd say. Her personality shines through the 'influence' that has been ruining her quite well, I'd say. She is a strong warrior, very determined, but very full of honor and love at the same time. I say this in every other post about strong Soulsborne characters, yeah. True bravery is not lack of fear but going despite fear, true power is not being callous unbreakable wall but to still hold your weapon firm through struggle and pain, true personality is what you ARE and not what you are 'not', etc etc. It is always about the feelings.
Three - Godwyn!
Tumblr media
I could not explain why he made it to this place very well, honestly. First, he stroke my weird spider-sense intuition. I was going into Elden Ring mostly in blind, and still keep whatever I can to be revealed as I go! Thus, I did not know anything about Godwyn besides the fact that he was the golden child (metaphorically and literally) that went down as sacrifice during Night of the Black Knives as one having his soul killed. And that he used to be a lovely person. But one day, as I was playing Elden Ring and progressing casually, from nowhere, for no reason, I started to think of this character. Again, for no reason, I was thinking of the 'Deep Sea' and imagining him becoming a mermaid (?), and healing/truly dying/letting new soul grow/whatever by returning to the sea. I even started crying, and I swear, those emotions felt like they were not even mine.
It felt very random, but you can't even imagine my surprise when that same day, I just coincidentally travelled to THAT location, and found him. And, coincidentally, he was posed like this with a mermaid tail. I take weird 'intuition moments' (dreams or waking) very personally as I have many of them (and funny enough, they always have to do with the 'sea' theme). No matter how I feel about this character in the future, but the weird "foretelling", "intuition" bond fixed my attention, so yeah.
He seems like a very loveable person, though... From narration standpoint, it does make the most sense that he of all people had to suffer this way. It just would not have had the same effect if someone less likeable/innocent had to go down. It is... sad, how much of this character is his tragedy alone. But, he befriended a dragon and bridged the gap between conflicting forces, and from what I gathered losing him specifically was what broke Marika, and Mohg named his new dynasty after himself AND Godwyn. Clearly, the guy was the best thing to ever have been associated with the Golden Order, and manifesting everything good about it within his personality alone. Whenever I bash the Golden Order as inherently corrupt thing, I just always think back on Godwyn as a confirmed exception from the judgement. And, of course, he would have enough "kindness" to spread death as new form of existence... despite the fact that his 'true' self would've probably dreaded to manifest living in death of all things.
Two - Rykard
Tumblr media
I talked about this guy since the day ONE I've picked even remote interest in Elden Ring, isn't it so? @_@ Well, I still stand by what I was talking about. Tanith is absolutely justified for being obsessed with this guy. He is like uh... Aldr1ch but executed much better, or rather, in more sympathetic light? I for one honor the narrative of a character who has the GUTS, the S P I N E to sacrifice a lot, their morals included, to just get OUT of the corrupt (!) way their world works. And I have a feeling that so does Miyazaki. x) I think it is a twisted sort of bravery that we are lucky to never experience and only perceive through fiction. But, unlike Aldr1ch, who revels in his corruption and the horrible things he has to do, Rykard, 1) has a loving family and 2) hinted to have or have had sympathetic traits and simply lost his way from.... heheh.... biting more than he could chew... xd heheh... :drum emoji because I am a comedy genius:
But, in either case, ya'll are lucky that the guy is happily married. Ya'll would not survive the intensity of my thirst otherwise. It is just my rule to not touch married characters. I still admire the guy though. Not to mention the fucking UNREAL AWESOME FUCKING DESIGN, one of the best I've seen ANYWHERE, and him having my favorite theme in entire Elden Ring. Like, it was legitimately hard to live down the crisis of him being "taken", because this guy is really loveable, both as a man and as a monster.
One - Ranni!
Tumblr media
Honestly, I always liked the mysterious aura, the clairvoyance and the uhhh... I guess, machiavellianism of this character? "Ends justify the means" character who does some unforgivable things but believes there is no other choice, and the grander purpose is more important. But, she has so many layers. She stepped away from her mother's teachings yet still created a badass illusions to protect her and clearly loves her forever, she has trust issues but in the end needs true friends and true kindness (something even an idiot like Seluvis can see!).
You could see it hurt her to do all that, but whatever freedom could be was worth it. She is just a very complicated character, that goes above and beyond. Letting her own body be killed is badass but understandable, since her body was inextricably tied to the Golden Order, as an Empyrean. Letting her somewhat-brother who was a genuinely good and radiant and loveable person be killed? That's a bit... more drastic... And so on. Indeed, she IS like Rykard in how far she had to go, and how much she had to sacrifice, but nonetheless I uh... would not say she lost clarity of her mind like him? It is interesting how by Dante's Divine Comedy though, Herecy is associated with fire but only on 6th level, yet it is treachery that is considered to be THE sin of sins, and it is the lowest level, and associated with ice, like her element. I am thinking about this very often @_@"
-------------------------------------------
Honorable mention - Radahn!
Tumblr media
Sorry, but I love the guy, despite lack of deep discussion (and becoming a mascot of the most toxic fans). This is ADORABLE that he learned Gravity Magic just so he could still ride Leonard. He appears to be such a goofy dumbass, wholesome person in the "wrong" way, opposing a character that is actually likeable and loyal to the things and people that arguably never deserved it?
But you know I am a huge fan of Rom Bloodb0rne, right? He gives off the exact same 'person that seizes and conceals the horrors of the cosmos from humanity, although their personality and intellect are gone' vibe. It is just... that same vibe of a "silly" character, the comic relief, that turns out to either face a tragic fate or reveals a much deeper personality. He is simple and complicated at the same time! And, well, him having been such a legendary and impressive warrior that so many people gathered just to give him honorable death. This is somewhat impressive. He was actually a very close tie with Malenia.

What is your hc on boomercup? for me, I think they bonded over the fact that they are the odd ones out of their siblings. Brick and Butch are always together doing things Blossom and Bubbles doing things together, and Buttercup and Boomer are just left out, not that they want to do the things their siblings are doing I also hc that boomer moved out like when he was 15-16 so that just adds to how estranged his relationship with his brothers is whilst buttercup is going out all the time with her friends just so she doesn't have to see how close her sisters are and how estranged she is and I also hc that they both were the last to get together so their siblings mostly blossom and bubbles set up double dates just so they make buttercup and boomer be together
I’m literally so excited someone asked me abt them I’m like in tears. This is a super long post just to give you a heads up
Tumblr media
Just rq I feel like with how oblivious the two are they’d be like “why are we literally being dragged on a date” and then ditch their siblings to hang out with each other, said siblings laughing at them when they finally get together like “that’s literally WHY WE INVITED YOU BOTH WE BASICALLY FORCED YOU ON A DATE WITH EACH OTHER” “oh”
Ok so a one-shot I actually had in mind basically touches upon exactly that also loosely inspired by “Pity Party” by Melanie Martinez (full idea beneath the cut), although my main work right now—the fic I have going (you can find it under the tbmg tag I have on this post and my pinned) is Boomer being impulsive to try to impress some girl in a class they all share by trying to be “good” and so asking for help, and given it’s the most-behaved Ruff and the least-behaved Puff and somewhere along the line they’re still classified as a villain and a hero respectively despite not being too different fundamentally and it’s mostly a character study in that aspect while still building their friendship before getting them together. I like to think that as crime lessens in the future the Ruffs mostly stop having contact with Mojo and low contact with HIM providing they’re mainly just tools to them unlike the Puffs to Professor, who he sees as his children and created them specifically to have children in his life. Boomer, in Buttercup’s opinion, is the most annoying since he’s as much of an instigator as she is. For the most part they lose contact with the other groups save for Boomer and sometimes Brick just trying to have a bit of fun by getting on their nerves and eventually only really focus on Buttercup since she’s the only one to still give them a reaction
That, and it’s nice to have someone that can actually match each other’s strength—they mostly get into fights when having a rough day, when they need to either beat the shit out of someone until they feel better or it means violence is still some kind of physical contact that says there’s some kind of care in it, good or bad
This is sort of what I’m alluding to at the start of said fic that I’ll try to delve into further into the next chapter or the one following. During the next chapter is when I have them actually chatting and getting to actually know one another aside from any insecurities to jab at to initiate a fight
I have another hc I’ll put in a rb here at a later date bc it deals with some heavier topics (EDIT: some are featured here)
Alright one-shot idea:
It’s the girls’ 15th birthday, a Saturday, and Buttercup has always been the first to pick on her sisters right and it seems that’s the only way she really knows how to make connections which is a little bit what @milksteaki touched upon in her (edited to use proper pronouns) hcs as far as how she “flirts” with Boomer (not quite the same, it’s close enough), and I doubt her sisters would ever fully understand that
Especially as they get older I have a feeling Blossom and Butters would argue a bit more given they’re probably the two who bear the most insecurities and they’re so alike in sometimes getting on what really makes people tick. Anyway they probably had one the night before bc Buttercup is sometimes just so intense they don’t really know how to take it the way her sisters do and it literally scares their friends, especially when BC’s friend group are boys who roughhouse or are able to match her competitive nature and they mention this to her sisters in private who then try to relay the message to Buttercup or they try to encourage their friends to tell her straight up bc she really doesn’t mean any harm. Either way, Buttercup either didn’t invite her friends for those reasons or was told to invite someone else and she doesn’t have anybody else, that or everyone was busy/had games/whatever else. Blossom asks Buttercup not to “scare the guests” and she, in a bout of teenage angst, takes it as “don’t show up”
After that she’s left alone in the room and her immediate thought is to contact Boomer to play basketball at a park or something—just the two of them, since all he was really doing was either trying to ignore Brick and Butch fight or, providing you’re the second person I’ve known of to hc Boomer moving out as a teenager, he’s doing absolutely nothing and is more than happy to hang out with someone
They chat during the game and sometimes after shots—not like it’s a real game anyway—and Buttercup mentions that she’s been “kicked out for the day” or that she fought with Blossom again, really anything to keep from sharing too many details and it works as Boomer continues to say that he’s so glad to not really be around his brothers like that anymore. While Boomer is never the one really involved with Brick and Butch’s spats, he feels left out and like no one pays attention to him in kind of the opposite of how Bubbles feels
It’s late afternoon when Blossom finds her after realizing Buttercup isn’t in the room sulking or looking for privacy but straight up left, and only then did she realize Buttercup probably had no intention of showing up and felt horrible—they’re a tight-knit group, even with the arguing they both miss their sister terribly and their birthday is never too fun without the third
Another argument starts out since Blossom’s concerned and Buttercup’s pissed and they eventually forget Boomer’s there for a minute—at least Buttercup, until:
You said you didn’t want me there!”
“I never said that! All I wanted was for the guests to have a good time!”
“Forget them, Blossom—it’s our birthday! I should be able to enjoy the day, too!”
Boomer’s heart sinks as he’s looking between the two as they argue and his voice is softer than he ever expects: “It’s your birthday today?”
Her heart stops when she remembers about his presence and how she was actively avoiding that detail and she can’t even think about a response, Blossom’s as silent as she is, and he just looks hurt that he was never told and about everything that’s already been said, “Why didn’t you tell me it’s your birthday?”
“It’s no big deal, Boomer. If I cared enough, I would’ve said something.”
“I care. The least I could’ve done is, I don’t know, made you dinner or something.”
They discuss to talk about it later since the most important thing is that Blossom wants her there for cake and they’ve refused to even light the candles without her there. They make up, there’s probably some tears, and Boomer is then invited to every party (he also probably makes a little friendship bracelet or a favorite snack as a gift that he brings to her in the midst of the night)

Spiderdemon AU 2
Part two Everyone!!! Previously: https://www.tumblr.com/ireallylovepupplies101stuff/739525939296403456/spiderdemon-au-1?source=share
Bendy starts doing more serious hero work. fighting dangerous people to protect those who need it.
It gets the Devil's attention even more, so he sends out two of his minions to fight spiderdemon, study him, then capture him.
Spiderdemon has a rather unpleasant fight with two assassins known as Red Diamond and Blue Spade the day before he starts college. He gets away, just barely, (especially after Red Diamond nearly got him with an unpleasant surprise that was big, black, and had LOTS OF TEETH) but BOY he'd be sore when he attends his first classes.
During one of his classes, a tall guy sits close to him. They both ignore each other at first, but at one point the guy would nudge Bendy. "Hey Pipsqueak, mind lending me a pen-"
Bendy, tired, bruised, and NOT in a good mood already, stands up, gets in the guy's face, and YELLS. "CALL ME A PIPSQUEAK AGAIN AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS!"
Bendy notices everyone in the class tense up, watching nervously. He could care less though, the guy got on his nerves on a bad day. The guy blinks at Bendy in surprise before grinning in amusement. "Oooooh, someone's got a temper."
The college professor quickly cuts in and tells the two to either be quiet or leave. Bendy sits down so he can focus on his class again, but he can feel the other guy watching him, and that bugs him.
A classmate later pulls Bendy aside and tells him he just yelled at probably the most dangerous guy attending their college named Cuphead. People are cussing TERRIFIED of him and all kinds of rumors are going around about what kind of stuff he's done.
Bendy doesn't really buy it though. If Cuphead wanted to hurt him, his spider sense would have been going off.
Cuphead may not be a danger to him, but Bendy certainly earned himself a new annoyance. Always feeling Cuphead looking at him during class and making small comments/jokes to get him yelling and get the teacher mad at them.
He does eventually meet Mugman though, who is thankfully less of a schmuck then his brother and apologizes on his behalf. He invites Bendy to hang out with him and Cuphead when they all have free time so Bendy can get to know Cup when he's not being a pain. Bendy was reluctant at first and tried making an excuse of hanging out with his brother Boris.
But then Mugman said Boris can join them, and Bendy can't really think of a nice way of saying no.
Because their younger brothers get along so well, they all end up hanging out together more and more. Much to Bendy's irritation. He tries not to complain too much though considering Boris is having fun. He just has to fight the urge to use his spiderdemon strength to punch Cuphead in his face when he keeps trying to get under his skin because Cuphead finds it funny.
Cuphead and Bendy officially start to bond though when Bendy helps Cuphead as a nod towards Inky Mystery.
Bendy has a robotic/engineering class in college, and at one point Cuphead would swing by there to remind him their brothers want all of them to hang out later that day.
Bendy: I remember. I literally just talked about it with your brother an hour ago.
Cuphead: *smirks* Just wanted to make sure your memory isn't as short as you.
Bendy would be ready to snap and yell at Cuphead again, until an unexpected, and LOUD, noise came from someone else's project.
And we all know how Venom LOVES loud noises.
Cuphead cries out as if in pain and covers his ears, dropping to his knees as the noise keeps going. Acting fast, Bendy pulls out noise canceling headphones and puts them over Cuphead's ears before quickly leading him out of the classroom. When they're far enough away and sitting down, Cuphead sighs in relief and takes the headphones off, looking at Bendy confused.
Bendy: Boris has sensitive ears too. I always carry those with me in case he needs them.
Venom: *inside Cuphead's head* "... I like him. Say thank you for me."
Cuphead: ... *huffs as he starts blushing a little and hands the headphones back* Thanks.
From then on, Cuphead teases Bendy less and the two of them are friendlier to each other, even if Cuphead still like to bug Bendy. Though Venom ALWAYS has something to say when it comes to Bendy whenever they’re hanging out.
"He likes bacon. Remember that"
"Bendy is acting sluggish. Ask him if he needs a coffee."
"Careful, he looks ready to punch you if you make another small joke"
Cuphead would be confused by Venom paying so much attention to Bendy, and later asks him in private why the cuss he's so obsessed with the pipsqueak.
Venom: I am not the one who wanted to watch transformer movies when he found out Bendy's a fan. I am simply being a good wingman and making sure you don't blow your chances.
Cuphead: ... What exactly are you implying?
Venom: ... Well right now I'm implying you're an idiot.
Once Cuphead realizes Venom's trying to get him to hook up with Bendy, he has a hard time keeping a poker face when Venom is talking to him.
Venom: Say something nice about the new shirt he's wearing.
Bendy: Uh, Cup, you okay? You're turning red.
Cuphead: Fine. Completely fine. Mind your business.
Venom: Coward.
and also.
Venom: Kiss him.
Cup: Would you shut the cuss u-
Bendy: ???
Cup: Not you. Sorry. What were you sayin’?
Eventually Cuphead gets sick of Venom constantly bugging and annoying the cuss out of him to make a move, so he finally asks Bendy out. In a really interesting way because he's already irritated by Venom.
Cuphead: *slams his hands down on the table he and Bendy are sitting at* Okay enough is cussing enough, can you PLEASE go get coffee or something with me so I can get some cussing peace?!
Bendy: *jumped at Cuphead's outburst, and stares at him* .... Is this your way of asking me out on a date?
Cuphead: .... *face turns extremely red as Venom laughs at him* Can I get a do-over?
Bendy laughs too and agrees to go on a date with Cuphead, though warns him he's never going to let Cup hear the end of how he asked him out on a date.
The two of them date for a while. One or both of them occasionally run late on a date because they're fighting someone, or each other, during their secret jobs, but their relationship goes pretty decently well.
And Venom works his butt off being a good wingman for his schmuck of a host (who he’s fond of but won’t admit out loud) because he actually LIKES Bendy.
Mugman: So what did you get Bendy for his birthday?
Cuphead: .... I thought that was next week.
Venom: *has his tentacle come out, yanks some flowers out of a random garden they're passing, and shoves them in Cuphead’s hand* You’re welcome.
Cuphead: *scowls as Mugman laughs* Both of you shut the cuss up.
But, of course, it doesn't stay that way forever.
Not all the details are worked out yet, but when Bendy isn't out as Spiderdemon for a night, Cuphead and Mugman are out working as Red Diamond and Blue Spade for something the Devil sent them to do.
Only, that job doesn't go well. Mugman gets kidnapped by the enemy, Cuphead gets hurt and his robotic arm damaged, so Venom takes over and forces Cuphead to retreat.
He knows Cuphead can't go to the Devil for help. That's too big of a gamble none of them need, but Cuphead can't save Mugman if he can't use his arm.
His, robotic, arm.
And Cuphead is currently dating a guy who loves to build robotic things.
Bendy isn't at all expecting Venom to arrive at his dorm room, but he'd be cussing READY to fight him by grabbing his desk chair and holding it like a weapon.
Venom: I wouldn't do that if I were you. He needs your help, not you injuring him further.
Bendy's about to question why the cuss he'd help Red Diamond of all people, when Venom pulls away, and reveals Cuphead, in his Red Diamond outfit, beat up, and clenching his metal arm as he tensely waits for Bendy's reaction.
Cuphead: ... I didn't want you to find out like this, but Mugman needs me, and I can't help him like this.

Gremlins: Actor AU
A quick synopsis: This AU revolves around the actual mogwais and gremlins just being actors and how the gremlins movies and show are literal movies and show.
Random ahh info about it:
The team uses practical effects for various scenes. Gizmo and the gremlins multiplying, Spider gremlin, Stripe's death, they are all practical effects. However though, stuff like Billy's injuries in the 1st movie and the scar on Muray's head were make up.
However though, while most of his injuries were make up, Stripe did actually by accident claw Billy's chest. Luckily the wound wasn't that bad so Billy was okay and able to recover. Stripe ended up apologizing to Billy for the scar.
Gizmo and Stripe are long time friends, both knew each other since college (they went to the same one). They were in a lot of movies together and due to Gizmo always playing the role of a hero and Stripe always being some kind of villain, they have been seen as one of the most iconic hero and villain duo.
Billy and Kate are a couple in real life and have 3 kids together. Ironically, in the 2nd movie, they intentionally wrote that they would be married soon which was actually the case since, just a month after the release of the movie, they got married.
Mohawk is always casted as the villain but in reality is actually very nice and caring and offers the other actors tips on acting.
Mohawk actually hates spider so it freaked him out a little that his character would later turn into a spider.
The mogwai that played Stripe as a mogwai, originally auditioned for Gizmo's role but sadly didn't get it. But the director loved his perfomance so much that he decided that he would be the mogwai form of Stripe that eventually turns into a gremlin.
Gizmo knew of the mogwai that played Mohawk as a mogwai and asked him to come and played the role. After a while of thinking he went to try it out and was able to get the part.
Daffy used to work in an insane asylum and a mental hospital. So he witnessed a lot of crazy and deranged patients and once that were even psychotic. He quitted because it became too stressful. However though, thanks to what he has seen, he was able to incorporate that in his acting when playing his character.
Lenny and George are famously known for playing the brains and brawns duo thru out every movie and or show they have been in. Usually the roles are George is the brain while Lenny is the brawn. They are both twin brothers who since babies had a close bond together.
George actually broke his character a few times while recording. It was kind of hard for him to keep the same face without unintentionally laughing really loud.
Earl was a very busy person. He acted in a lot of movies and shows which sadly led to him sometimes having to quit his roles or leave the studio just to focus on another movie or show. Which is why he explained to the director for why he is quitting. Despite this, his scenes were still in the movie and he was still credited.
Barney was originally going to be killed and eaten by the gremlins, but the director often saw Barney be very clingy to the actors and was always looking for attention and the actors often played with the dog or were friendly with him. So the director decided to cut that scene out because he didn't like the thought of the actors who treat the dog very lovingly to suddenly kill him, even if it was just acting.
Lynn was gonna get her head decapitated, but the actress didn't like it in the slightest and kept asking for it to be changed and it was.
The blender gremlin ended up throwing up in the fake blender because of how fast it was spinning. Yeah some of the green blood was not fake by the way that was his vomit-
The younger actors actually look up to Greta and Brain because they were apart of their childhood, and both were known as one of the TV star legends. So they were excited to be playing with them and they were one of the nicest people they've met. Plus they were willing to give advice to some of the new actors.
Snout Jr is actually Snout's in real life son.
Claw and one of the writers had beef which was the cause of the decision to make Claw's character in love with Gizmo. Both actors ended up being uncomfortable because of the knowledge the characters they were playing were actually related. Reason why they often argued with the writer.
Noggin had a habit of playing both dumb and smart characters. So the writers decided to make his character first dumb and then intelligent.
Most of the actors are married to someone.
Riley's last name was on purpose greene due to the fact he has a habit of voicing various green characters.
Fong Wing's fight against the gremlins was a tribute to Lynn Pelter's actor who passed away and her scene where she fights the gremlins in the kitchen.
Randall is actually a successful inventor and often brought his inventions to show off to the cast.
Bat gremlin loves horror and anything dark, which is why he is often acting in horror movies or anything dark, simply because he loves them.
The gremlins and mogwais are capable of doing their own stunts.
Due to beef with the producer, Vegetable gremlin's scenes were cut out. They can still be found on the DVD version of the movie.
Mrs. Deagle did nearly suffer a severe injury while acting but luckily she was okay and medical assistance was called to check her up and see if she was okay or not.
Kate's backstory with her dad was based on something similar she saw. But instead of her dad dying, he ended up slipping on some ice and nearly breaking his back and twisting his ankle. But he still did everything to make his daughter love his present. Even if he almost suffered an injury-
Elle's actor had mental breakdowns because the scene with her backstory were similar to what she went thru, she was abandoned by her family but eventually take in by a family who cared for her. Sadly her in real life parents were killed. She was allowed to take breaks to calm down.
The gremlins are completely opposite to their movie selves.
That's all for now. Feel free to ask questions if anyone is curious.

House Of Memories (35/?)
Obi-Wan Kenobi x Padawan!reader
Warnings: death, darth maul (he's literally a warning-)
Summary: Darth Maul gives Obi-Wan Kenobi a devastating ultimatum, which results in even worse consequenses.
A/n: ouch... literally just ouch
also y'all if you like the story, maybe consider buying me a coffee :)
Words: 2.1k
Tumblr media
You came to slowly, taking in your surroundings and realizing you were slung on the back of the zabrak who'd rendered you unconscious in the first place. All the blood was rushing to your face, and you felt unsteady, like you would fall if he for any reason set you down. There was a dark lull in the force, causing you to be rendered weak without the light you'd realigned yourself with so strongly.
You were in the Mandalorian Palace, or at least you thought you were. You'd truly never been here before today, so your assumption was limited to what Obi-Wan and Ahsoka had told you of the place.
Your hands were behind your back, being held in restraints. Of course, they would take extra precautions with you, and not Satine, who was over the other shoulder of the Zabrak. She seemed to be knocked out same as you were only moments ago, and it left you with only one question.... Where is Obi-Wan?
You tried not to make any sudden movements to let your captor know you were awake, trying to assess a way out in any shape or form you could possibly make come to fruition. It didn't seem like there were many viable options, the only one you could think of that would secure your escape would mean sacrificing Satine, which was horribly wrong, and even if you managed to pull it off, you still didn't know where your Master was, and could not leave without having him by your side.
"Hello, Padawan," you turned your head to see him, the Darth Maul, alive and in person. The one you'd thought to be dead from Obi-Wan's stories from long ago. It didn't seem possible, and yet? There he stood, walking along side you as you hung upside down on his brother's back.
"Maul," you couldn't help the surprise that had filtered its way into your tone... you'd meant to sound menacing and untouchable, although you were dangling like a loth-bat with bonds holding your wrists together.
"I'd heard Kenobi had a young apprentice with him, but I wasn't aware you'd be so lovely," he taunted, running a finger down the stretch of your arm. Oh no, not today. Of all the absolute kriffing bumps in the road of today, this was one you would not allow.
"Touch me again, you'll regret it."
He laughed maniacally, walking ahead of you, now and moving to sit in a throne, the way he draped himself on the seat indicated he was far more arrogant of a Sith than you had even imagined.
You were dropped on the ground, straight to your back, a loud thud echoing in the grand hall, before they commanded you to kneel. You complied, on the terms that whatever was about to happen, you wanted it over and done with.
Satine was brought to consciousness, being shoved to her knees on the other side of the throne and awaiting the next move of Darth Maul to commence. You tried to put on a face of bravery, but as soon as Obi-Wan was ushered in, struggling to be unhanded by the Mandalorian guards, you felt your heart sink. He seemed so uncapable, and it was probably because of this horrid situation. You were in danger, Satine was in danger, and all by the hand of someone he thought was long gone, someone he killed to avenge the life of his Master Qui Gon.
His eyes met yours, and he begged to receive anything from them that could keep him remaining calm. You sent a small 'I'm okay' through your signature to his, and he let out a breath after he heard it in his head. He looked over to Satine, who seemed composed enough for her current state, and then his focus fell on the one responsible for this.
"Your noble flaw is weakness, shared by you, and your duchess," Maul began, using the force to lift you both in the air by the throat. Satine grabbed at her neck, trying to subdue the invisible force that kept her elevated, meanwhile you were left gasping for air, your hands still firmly kept behind your back. "You should have chosen the dark side, Master Jedi. I sense your Padawan already has."
You knew he sensed it as soon as he had come beside you. The darkness in you was still lurking, trying to find a way to the surface, though you had cast it out several times, it always found a way to keep tempting you to its disastrous luxuries.
"Your emotions betray you, your fear... and yes, your anger. Let your anger deepen your hatred," he began to sound like a growling monster, every word came out of his mouth with a roar underneath it.
"Don't listen to him, Obi," Satine managed to get out, and though you would have told him something similar, had you been able to speak, you hated the way she said his name that way. You'd called him that long before she ever did, and you didn't like the way it sounded coming from her.
"Quiet," Savage's voice sounded from behind you.
You searched Obi-Wan's face for any sign of good news, for any sign of a plan, because he always had one, even when the worst conditions arose. He held no optimism in his eyes, nothing that would indicate and idea or anything of the sort that could get you all out of here alive. He felt trapped, because you were trapped, and the one he'd come to save was trapped.
"You can kill me, but you will never destroy me," he raised his head, narrowing his gaze at Maul, giving him a glare that could kill if looks could. "It takes strength to resist the darkside, only the weak embrace it. Not I, nor my padawan could ever succumb to such weakness."
"It's more powerful than you know."
"And those who oppose it are more powerful than you'll ever be," Obi-Wan again started to struggle in the hard of the guards when he saw the Sith approach you and Satine again. "I know where you're from, I've been to your village. I know the decision to join the dark side wasn't yours, the nightsisters made it for you-"
"Silence! You think you know me?" Maul stepped away from you, but with a lightsaber in hand, he took large steps towards Kenobi, and though you could no longer feel the pain of the force around your neck, you became anxious at how defenseless Obi-Wan was for the moment. "I am the one who languished for years, thinking of nothing but you... nothing but this moment, and now, the perfect tool for my vengeance is in front of us. I never planned on killing you, but I will make you share my pain... Kenobi."
He ignited his saber to the side of him, and it was unlike anything you'd seen before. You'd heard of the darksaber, but never before did you behold it with your own eyes. It was terrifying, the dark blade that glowed with a steely gloom that set around it. The innocent lives it must have taken... it ailed you.
"Now," he said, raising both you and Satine in the air further, to imply his next move, "Choose."
The flash of fear you saw in Obi-Wan's eyes was unlike anything you'd witnessed of him before. He was so stoic, so brave, and now? He may have been more scared than you were. You weren't afraid to die, but you were afraid of being sent to death by the one you loved... you knew he would save you, but in the moment, with the adrenaline rushing, you couldn't bear to hear his answer.
"I... can't," he let out, shaking his head and reaching out his signature to try and sooth both himself and you while this traumatic event unfolded.
"Choose, or they both die..." Maul was growing impatient, and in the rush of the moment, and the lack of other choices, Obi-Wan closed his eyes and bowed his head in shame.
"Save Satine," he said, his voice cracking at the end. Your eyes widened in fear, but when Obi-Wan lifted his head to meet your eyeline, you felt a sense of safety, and security. He was going to save you, "I'm sorry, my padawan..."
Maul cackled like the witches of Dathomir, dropping you to the ground, and brining Satine straight forward, the saber blade piercing her chest, and making time to stand still for a moment. Obi-Wan knew it, that he would kill Satine. He knew that if he made it seem like Satine was important to him, she would be his preferred choice of revenge. He knew that you would live, but he didn't expect to be so upset with himself when the act was actually committed, and Satine was the one to be sacrificed. You'd been dropped face first into the marble stone and had to crane your neck to see the scene before you play out.
"Satine," Obi-Wan raced to catch her as she fell from the saber blade and onto the floor. He brushed the hair away from her face and held her in his arms. She didn't deserve this.... it was supposed to be you.
Maul sat back in his throne, the sight brining an expression of satisfaction upon his twisted features. How evil do you have to be to revel in the pain of loss? Truly despicable...
"Remember my dear Obi-Wan," she spoke softly, the air capacity in her lungs was now limited, as she took her last breaths. "I have loved you always, and always will."
You felt tremendous guilt wash over you at hearing her whispered words. Her death was so that you may live on in her place. You loved him, but so did she... and he chose instead to save you. As much as you resented her for the time passed, she was still a part of his life, a part of who he'd become... and now she was dead, and the blood was on your hands. At least, you thought, perhaps she felt comfort in feeling like he had chosen her, and that she was the object of his affections, one last time.
Obi-Wan pulled her closer to him, holding her tightly while the Zabraks looked on with great interest.
"Do we kill him now, brother?" Savage turned to the throne for permission, but Maul shook his head menacingly.
"No," he said, as if it were a preposterous idea. "Imprison him below... let him drown in his misery. Take him to his cell, to rot."
"And what of the girl?"
You looked up at Maul with narrow eyes, the pain you felt over letting Satine die for your sake was fully evident on your face. As much as you disliked her, she was an innocent being, killed for the pleasure of revenge. You were a Jedi, it was in your nature to be selfless, but on this matter, where you were given no choice, it was hard to keep your emotions under control.
"Keep her with me," he commanded, a smirk crawling across his lips, as Obi-Wan was dragged away, along with Satine's lifeless body. You were pulled from the ground, your restraints being undone, as they shoved you towards the throne. You chanced a look over your shoulder, but he was already out of your field of view. This hole became deeper and deeper, and you doubted you would ever get out alive. You didn't know if you'd ever see your Master again. Knowing that Maul was heavily force sensitive, you put a block around your signature, unwilling to let him take anything from you that could cause you or Obi-Wan to lose more.
"Leave us," he waved his hand, and just as he instructed, the guards, the prime minister, and his brother, Savage, all left the grand hall.
You felt far more vulnerable under his eyes, now. Alone, with nothing in sight that he could possibly find more interesting. He stood from his seat, towering over you when he met your hateful stare.
"So stern," he mocked, raising a finger to your chin, tilting your head back for him to get a better look. "What a pretty thing."
You didn't even mean to, but the spurt of force energy that left you, causing his hand to fly back from you left him surprised.
"I thought I warned you not to touch me," you threatened, your anger arising to the surface, and showing in your eyes.
"You belong to me, now, and as my prize possession, I will touch as I wish," he chuckled lowly, his hand moving a fallen strand of hair aside your face before resting firmly on your cheek. You shuddered at the contact.
You hated this being for everything he was and wished him dead before you. Unfortunately, you knew were were far too weak to take him on by your lonesome, so you stood, unarmed, and still as the ground beneath you.
"My brother has not long to complete his training, but thereafter, you will become my new apprentice."

Hey Cyn, if you don't mind me asking, any thoughts on the Conquest cast?
I am absolutely happy to answer!
So I believe I am roughly half-way through the game, so this is a half-way impression. I will make a final one when I finish the game! (Haven't played Birthright yet).
So far I am loving Conquest.
I love Corrin. There is a lot of interesting elements and character development with them through Conquest's storyline. I find them compelling.
I am utterly perplexed with the hatred of Corrin. 'They're stupidly naive' they literally have been sheltered for their entire life? Didn't even know what BUGS looked like (Silas Support). 1/2
Also they are not nearly as naive as people make them out to be. They acknowledge how screwed up Nohr is. The idea to change within is extremely smart. They are hopeful. 2/2
'Everything centres around them' because they have ROYAL siblings in Nohr and Hoshido? They have influence in the ruling families, so of course all focus on Corrin??? Also wow siblings love their sibling or are angry with them so of course they'd focus on them???
I love the Nohr siblings so much. Each one of them is distinct. You can see how they truly care for one another, through one-on-one, a few at a time, and altogether. You can feel the love they have for Corrin and one another. Positive sibling bonds whoo!
Xander is playing the politics well. We don't see a lot of politics, but we still have an understanding of it through how he knows how his father acts. Kind and stern older brother.
Camilla is fascinating. She either acts sultry around others to appease them or to lower their guards, or overly doting mother-figure to the siblings (clearly they didn't know their mother well). Far smarter than she lets on. Love that.
I love Leo acting as 'I am a true Nohr noble, father; I do not care about bonds' in front of Grado, but we see that it is an act to not be seen as being far kinder and compassionate then he lets on.
I love how Elise, while being chirpy and optimistic, is no fool. The fact she's all 'if you kill Corrin, Father, then kill me too' with zero hesitation shows that she is unfortunately used to his abuse and rule. She's also shown to be cunningly smart like Leo.
I love how they are actually plotting against their abusive father without trying to rouse his suspicions.
Azura is way more fascinating than I expected! Eager to get her supports with the Nohr siblings (or if I miss out: watch online). So far my favourite supports have to do with her.
I love the dichotomy between Nohr siblings and Hoshido. The Hoshido group give me a vibe of 'royals first, family second', and I don't really feel that Takumi is close to his siblings. Nohr feels like 'siblings and royals'.
Silas is a wonderful character that needs more love damn it!
Jakob has more going for him than I thought when checking certain supports (Azura)! I like him!
Arthur is a caricature, sure, but I find him strangely endearing? I guess because he is so over-the-top (and reminds me of Sky High from 'Tiger and Bunny').
Effie is a godsend in battle.
Benny's taciturn nature intrigues me, funnily enough!
There's something likeable about Kaze, even though I don't know much about his personality through story.
I feel nothing for Nyx, Selena, Berkut and Gunter so far. Mainly because I benched them, and not a fan of the 'Awakening gang is here too; do you remember Awakening!?? (Selena, Laslow, etc).
Niles, Odin (Awakening I know), and Peri being 'torture chamber time' just makes me grin. What a bunch to be retainers to the Nohr siblings!
Charlotte is great. I laughed at her introduction. Her story is fun; acting cutesy to bag some rich partner, but actually has a sailor-mouth (well, the more kid friendly version).
Keaton's introduction also made me laugh, but he seems like a fun character!

@brown-little-robin replied to your post: last song listened to: "Extraordinary Machine" by...
Extraordinary machine!! Elystan!!! you will HAVE to expand on that at some point bc I know the song but am too 100% tired to grasp why it's a him song right now
Okay, so this is Book 3 Elystan.
I certainly haven't been shopping for any new shoes And I certainly haven't been spreading myself around
After the disastrous attempted coup he got mixed up in toward the end of Book 2, resulting in his narrowly escaping implication and his father being executed, he has retreated to his house in the country and basically become a shut-in. He stays in his room, stays in his bed, sees no one.
I still only travel by foot and by foot it's a slow climb But I'm good at being uncomfortable so I can't stop changing all the time
Not literally traveling by foot, but he has physical limitations that make navigating life difficult, but he's used to that and thereby used to adapting. He thinks he's adapting well here.
I noticed that my opponent is always on the go And won't go slow, so 's not to focus, and I notice He'll hitch a ride with any guide, as long as They go fast from whence he came
This is Delclis, whom Elystan currently regards as his mortal enemy. From Elystan's perspective, Delclis has been keeping himself so busy with the responsibilities of being king that he has no time to focus on anything that he has left behind since taking that role. And although Elystan would probably rather die than admit to himself, that would include his relationship with Elystan. Not that Delclis ever had much time to bond with Elystan even before becoming now, but now there's nothing whatsoever between them, as far as Elystan can see, and that hurts.
"Any guide" is Delclis's Prime Minister, Sir Jowan Mitchett-Scorbrook. Elystan hates this man after a traumatic thing that Sir Jowan put him through, and he thinks that Delclis both approved that incident and is on board with Sir Jowan's agenda. Which, as far as Elystan is concerned is to completely change Delclis into a ruthless king.
But he's no good at being uncomfortable, so He can't stop staying exactly the same
Elystan knows that Delclis doesn't handle pressure well, and he believes his brother is always going to retain his worst traits. He's not adaptable, not like Elystan.
If there was a better way to go then it would find me I can't help it, the road just rolls out behind me
Elystan considers his response to his situation the best and most reasonable one. He is surviving, where his father tragically didn't.
Be kind to me, or treat me mean I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine
And he tells himself that he doesn't care how his family treats him. He will emerge victorious. He always has.
I seem to you to seek a new disaster every day You deem me due to clean my view and be at peace and lay
The family is getting frustrated with him for stunts like the Infamous Lamplight Letter. They want him to keep his head down and stay out of the political picture, where he can't cause any trouble.
I mean to prove I mean to move in my own way and say I've been getting along for long before you came into the play
But Elystan will not be told what to do. As far as he's concerned, he's been doing this longer than Delclis (he was heir to the throne from birth, Delclis was a nobody who got the throne suddently foisted upon him).
I am the baby of the family, it happens So, everybody cares and wears the sheep's clothes While they chaperone
But because he is the youngest, the family treats him like a child (...which he still is, but don't tell him that), trying to look after him and express what he considers false concern.
Curious, you looking down your nose at me, while you appease Courteous, to try and help But let me set your mind at ease
Again, from his perspective, the family puts on a show of solicitude while holding him in contempt for what he and his father tried to do. So he sarcastically addresses them, trying to get them off his back.
Do I so worry you, you need to hurry to my side? It's very kind
This is what his mother does in "A Visit from the Murderess." He is sarcastic about what he believes is false kindness--this woman allowed his father to die, after all.
But it's to no avail; and I don't want the bail I promise you, everything will be just fine
He thinks being sent to school is his alternative to prison, and he's not on board with the idea. He has his own plans, and he can look after himself "just fine" without the family's help.
...or at least that's where my brain goes. Could be a stretch! I tend to be too prone to fit songs to whoever's been on the brain recently.

this post is to answer @perfectlove990’s question on my post about the fire hazard and bending brothers sibling swap. they asked:
“This is really interesting so far and I want more, but a few questions. Where is Iroh in all this and what is he relationship with the brothers. Also what parts of the gaang story are being affected by this change?”
replying in the comments was going to give me an aneurysm so I decided to just make a separate post.
I started answering in the comments, I’ll just past it all back here:
oh boy. you’ve just triggered the master yapper. I have. many thoughts. on this au so I’m so glad you asked!! first, about iroh. since neither of the brothers play into zuko’s role very obviously, iroh is actually more distant—he believes they are entirely corrupted by naoki and doesn’t have the opportunity of a banishment to insert himself as a guiding figure in their development. thus, he stays more reserved, working with the white lotus between rare trips to the palace.
however, mako is more the azula of this verse, so iroh connects with bolin over tea and pai sho when mako has naoki’s attention. I characterize iroh as much more conniving (if well-intentioned) than he portrays himself, so it’s by design that this increases the separation between the brothers—bolin further dehumanizes his mental image of his brother. through their search for the avatar, iroh keep’s correspondence solely with bolin. however, through bolin’s accounts of events, he does notice mako is throwing off their chances of capturing the avatar, though he doesn’t know why until he also notices the assassins. yk, casual family drama.
he’s not at ba sing se, preferring to take advantage of being at the heart of the fn for white lotus intel. I’m gonna continue this in a new post cause I have too much to say lmao 😭
so going off that (still about iroh’s place in the story), he’s literally just an estranged uncle who picked a favorite he calls sometimes. we’ve all got that one uncle, right? so as I mentioned, iroh in my mind is a lot more calculated. he sees people as a means to an end, even if he genuinely cares about them as well, and his end goal is the war’s end. iroh has given up on mako here the same way he gave up on azula, choosing to focus his attention on the more ‘compassionate’ sibling to hopefully shape into the next firelord her could pull the strings of.
however, he doesn’t get as involved because, for one, they’re both much tighter under naoki’s control than zuko was ozai’s in canon, and naoki’s paranoia led to ozai’s death, so he knows he has to be subtle. for two, he knows none of his options are good candidates. he classifies mako as psycho and unwilling to end the war, so obviously he won’t put him on the throne. bolin is far too ek in appearance and an earthbender, which will upset the already sore-backed fn (who will also have to pay war reparations). iroh can’t put himself on the throne, because that will only twist this as a complicated grab for it rather than an offer for actual peace. not to mention he is a war criminal and the ek will not want to negotiate with him.
so basically iroh’s whole plot line is his struggle to figure out who he needs to manipulate into a crown, or if he needs to try and collapse the monarchy altogether. not sure how it would turn out on iroh’s end, but I think mako would become firelord. bolin probably ends up traveling the world or reuniting with san or something, but the fn was never really his home and after the war ends he’s ready to book it. maybe they’ll have a brotherly bonding arc where they fix their relationship but idk.
and then how the brothers’ interference affects the gaang’ plot line. this one is a little difficult because the writers crammed SO DAMN MUCH into three seasons, but I’ll just hit the basic points—
the avatar isn’t officially known until the solstice, when they go to the fn temple. the statues glowed, so there were rumors, but no one was actively hunting the avatar so nothing was guaranteed. it might also affect the way they left the swt—without the push of aang’s capture, what would’ve forced sokka and katara to part with their homes? that’d be interesting to explore if I ever wrote more for this but wtv.
I think this story would also be a good way to explore avatarverse spirituality and maybe give the boys a little religious trauma. (they’re actually my self-inserts guys.) so mako and bolin are in the temple when the gaang gets there (praying for agni’s blessing of strength, for better bending. praying for Agni’s blessing of the ‘right’ bending) and they still do all the crap that happens in the og.
for the first bit, their journey goes like it would w/o zuko interruption bcs bending brothers are preoccupied trying to survive naoki’s assassins. zhao kind of takes their place, becoming the main antagonist as they travel. he’s not very good at his job. anyway, the brothers get to the nwt, zhao still enacts the seige. however, the seige goes really differently. mako and bolin approach the nwt around the time zuko got there, slowed down by assassination attempts. except mako approaches as an ‘ambassador’ of the fn, sent to negotiate. at this point, he’s caught on that the fl wants them dead and actually intends to negotiate a neutrality by talking zhao down.
so there’s no iroh. however, mako takes azula’s place here—he is a beast of a firebender. he also doesn’t have the same reservations iroh had as a ‘disgraced’ prince—he is the crown prince of the fn, and technically has the right to kill zhao for insubordination. because of the nice new religious trauma, mako understands what iroh did; killing the moon spirit fucks everyone over. also I think time w the sages+prayer would put the brothers closer to understanding the lies of fn propaganda and seeing the point of ending the war. not quite breaking out of the mindset yet, but beyond seeing the water tribes as savages and such.
so basically mako negotiates a treaty with the nwt chief to mako zhao back down in exchange for hospitality of the two princes for a short period, given fn assassins are unable to reach them within the walls of the nwt (he wants a break so bad). zhao’s fleet still attacks, and he makes it to the oasis. however, mako outranks him and calls off the forces, leaving bolin to round up the rest of them and get them out while mako leaves for the oasis.
at the oasis, zhao is giving his whole speech. mako interrupts, telling zhao killing the moon spirits hurts the fn too. zhao accuses him of wanting the fn to fail, mako pulls rank, zhao doesn’t listen. he grabs tui from the pond, and mako lashes out with lightning. the moon is only red for a moment before the fish drops back into the pond and zhao drops dead to the ground.
everyone is like 😦
but mako’s just like ‘oops! guess we both got a bit too silly! now help us hide from assassins.’ because it’s funny. aang comes out of his meditation screaming that they need to protect the fish, but he’s greeted with the enemy nation’s prince, a dead zhao, and two safe fish. yue lives! the exchange between the fn princes and the chief is really awkward because mako is just lugging around zhao’s fried corpse. however, their stay is arranged. the gaang stays longer as well, plotting to sneak yue along with them when they leave. bolin is made as unaware of this as possible, mostly contained to the blessedly warm bedroom they’re given.
mako arranges a meeting with the gaang under nwt warrior supervision under the condition that they could kill him should he try anything. eventually, all parties distrustfully agree, tempted by the offer of fn information in exchange.
during the meeting, mako proposes a treaty; he will avoid capturing them as long as they continue to act like they are at genuine risk of capture. they’re wary, but agree. why is that the condition. nunya LOLLLLL.
nah that’s not what happens. he gives some vague excuse that not everyone wants mixed princes to stay breathing, and not all rulers care for heirs. the nwt warriors are mildly disturbed by the implications, but the gaang doesn’t really understand. sokka stays up late trying to figure it out and then realizes. he has nightmares of hakoda and the swt warriors trying to kill him for his mom being fn instead.
sokka is named group tactician when asked, and mako warns him that he and bolin are a formidable team, before giving him evasion tactics not commonly taught or used in the fn so thei consistent escape isn’t suspicious.
that was. more than I meant to say. anyways. they’re better off because mako is actively working against bolin’s genuine attempts to capture them and they have an anonymous donor of tactics and supplies (mako).
I’m debating whether or not the blue spirit exists here. I think I want an alternate blue spirit to happen—veiti, from the spirit 100yr war mako au. I kinda want to try drawing him a little mask. and since he’s already set on the path of helping the avatar (though, granted, to save his own skin) veiti would be more proactive in helping the gaang.
uhhh I think naoki would be less of the Big Opp than ozai was, because both bolin and mako as well as iroh are in a position to incapacitate her. the evil is the war council (which I do think should’ve mattered more in atla canon) and the psychological ramifications of naoki’s treatment of bolin and mako being the only thing holding them back from taking her out of power.
I think such a huge part of naoki’s power is based on her intellect and manipulation, so just removing her bending wouldn’t be enough to end her reign. not to mention she lived in an ek town for years—she probably learned how to fight like a nonbender (kyoshi warrior era naoki??) so aang’s peaceful ending wouldn’t have worked; I think naoki would need to be killed.
however, having aang kill her would completely ruin his character, which is a whole other post, because his adherence to air nomad culture is such a huge part of him, and outright killing someone (with absolute knowledge that there is no chance of survival) of his own volition is just.. not aang.
so guess who’s gonna do it.
bolin.
HAHAHA I bet you weren’t expecting that one‼️‼️ it’s bolin who is killing her because I think he deserves that poetic symbolism, and because in this scenario the eclipse succeeds. his bending was always a less-than under naoki. he was always supposed to be a firebender. but now, when firebenders are powerless and vulnerable, she’s helpless to resist the crushing weight of the world he has always, effortlessly, commanded.
that kind of eliminates a LOT, but aang still hasn’t mastered firebending and the wl (specifically iroh) has been thrown for a total loop, the throne is empty, and the world is in uproarious confusion. did they win? should someone try and take over the fn while they’re vulnerable? are concessions, agreements being made with the fn accepting their loss? who will rise to the throne? will the fn accept one of their half-ek princes as fl?
so instead of being b3: fire, it’s b3: political intrigue and I thought the world was done burning what the fuck is happening. iroh is pulling his receding hairline farther back trying to figure out what to do, mako (still 15) ascends to the throne as crown prince and more fn-looking of the brothers. he’s immediately swamped with peace treaties and concession demands. and, naturally, this involves the gaang—the avatar is the bridge, and he will be the bridge alongside his national ambassadors (the rest of the gaang)
and because aang needs a firebending teacher, is on relatively good terms with mako (who is a very skilled firebender), and wants to show the world the fn and their new fl aren’t actually that evil, mako becomes a firebending master!! except this is bad because he is stressing the fuck out.
things actually do go easier for mako than zuko because he has ~connections~. he’s half ek (and understands/adopts some of the culture) and built a bridge with the nwt during zhao’s seige.
other than all that and how b3 would change I don’t really have much more specifics on how mako+bolin instead of zuko+azula would affect the gaang but. I just think this little au is neat, glad you were curious about it :)

More Rhaemond babies content!!
The Many Faces Of:
Daemion Targaryen & Aelyx Targaryen
Tumblr media
Daemion and Aelyx are the second and third born children of Rhaena and Aemond (these babies will probably join us around chapters 12 or 13, maybe sooner or later). Twin boys who were born 4 minutes apart from one another...Aelyx was a tad bit unexpected. Daemion's eyes are a bit more of a "classic Targaryen" violet, in my canon he literally inherited his namesake, grandpappy Daemon's violet eyes. While Aelyx inherited his mama's pale violet eyes. They were both born with golden blonde hair that would pale over time, but would still remain golden. Facially they are very identical, but they do have their slight differences (I'm thinking they both look more like a perfect mix of both Rhaena and Aemond, like neither favour either parent more or less than the other.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Daemion (named after his grandpa Daemon, how Rhaena convinced Aemond to let her name one of their kids after her father is a plot line that WILL be shown 😂) was always the more chaotic of the two. He was louder, bolder and far more sociable (slight parallel to how Baela is compared to Rhaena!). As much as he loved pulling pranks on the staff at Dragonstone he also liked befriending the staff as well. He was a little charmer, and unlike Vaella he knew how to genuinely charm people to get what he wanted.
He had a very active imagination and always had energy to burn, though unlike his father or his elder sister, he didn't have the patience to sit and focus on things. He loved hearing about his family's history, he just couldn't be asked to sit and study it. He liked fooling around with swords and weapons, but he couldn't be asked to truly pay attention and train properly (I imagine he's got medieval ADHD to a certain degree)
Daemion loves his twin brother a lot and he's always done his best to make sure Aelyx felt included in his adventures. But Daemion also really loves and looks up to his older sister, she seemed invincible to him and he wanted to be just like her. Whether she was pulling off an incredible prank, flying his dragon for the first time, learning something he wasn't supposed to be taught just yet...he always wanted to do what she was doing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aelyx on the other hand was the complete opposite. He was a lot quieter, a bit more awkward and soft spoken, and was not really fond of social situations. When he was a toddler, he would run crying to his mama for every little thing, she was his favourite person and she always made him feel safe. During a time when she wasn't available (NOT SPOILING THIS PLOTLINE), Aelyx had found himself needing his papa instead, and Aemond easily decided to clear his day to bond with his quiet son.
Aelyx liked reading on his own or being read to by his parents, he could often be found in the library with his nose tucked in a book. He liked snuggling with his mama, and he liked listening to Vaella's dramatic tales and storytelling. He liked conversing with his papa in Valyrian and properly training with him in the mornings with Vaella, he especially liked sitting on his grandpappy's lap and listening to his old battle stories (he and Daemion usually did that together!).
But he also loved his twin brother Daemion over all else, he wasn't the biggest fan of pranks or shenanigans, but he enjoyed tagging along with his two older siblings. Whether they were pranking the maids or servants, sneaking around cooks to steal sweets, or attempting to sneak past the dragon-keepers or trying to get closer to the dragon mount. Aelyx may never have initiated any these endeavours but he'd happily let Daemion drag him along for them.
Tumblr media
Daemion's dragon egg would hatch in his crib, the egg itself had been from a clutch of Syrax and Caraxes (his favourite dragon was his grandpappy's Caraxes). He'd name his dragon Meraxes both after the Goddess of the sky, but also because in their culture she'd been Caraxes' twin and he was very fond of that. Aemond would later jest and try to sway his son to maybe appreciate the history of how Meraxes was also the great Queen Rhaenys' former mount, and while Daemion did like that, he was very fond of Rhaenys from the histories, Rhaena knew having a dragon who was the hatchling of his grandfather's is what meant the most to their son.
Meraxes takes after her mother, in that she's a glorious horned dragoness, a deep burgundy toned red that shimmers iridescent in the sunlight and moonlight. with golden horns.
When Daemion is 8yrs of age and Meraxes had grown to a ride-able size he sneaked off with Vaella to ride their respective dragons (I think Vaella will claim Grey Ghost, I think I've decided! Let's say she claimed him when she was around 7 or 8 herself.) Rhaena was more worried than upset, but she's reminded by Aemond how Vaella had done the same just a few years ago. But seeing how he can't simply let the kids off completely, they both earn two sessions of early morning training as their punishment (a punishment that's really only upsetting to Daemion because Vaella loves training...she doesn't like waking up early though, so maybe that's the punishment part.)
Tumblr media
Aelyx's dragon egg on the other hand, while it had hatched in his crib like his brother's...the poor hatchling had not lived long enough to bond with baby Aelyx. He'd receive another egg when he's 2 or 3, from a clutch from Silverwing and Vermithor, but the egg would never hatch. Even though he'd be assured by his ENTIRE family, his parents, his grandparents, uncles and aunts, cousins, and even his old sister, that he'd be able to claim a dragon when the time was right...he still felt excluded and upset about it.
In all his years he'd go on countless rides with his father and siblings (and others family members!), but finally at the age of 16, he'd sneak out alone. He felt a call to him, deep in the volcanic mounts of Dragonstone, and there he found Sheepstealer, and a bond would be made.
The moment he claimed his dragon, he flew to King's Landing first, beaming with excitement he wanted his grandfather to be the first to know. And of course, Daemon was very proud. (He also figured he'd earn a lecture and a punishment from his parents for sneaking into the very dangerous volcanic mounts of Dragonstone by himself at night...so grandpa Daemon seemed the best bet at the time!)
Tumblr media
Daemion would grow to be a very blatant charming flirt. Vaella, Aelyx, and their three younger siblings would always make fun of him for it. Because he was truly a charmer, he'd never force any girl, he had impeccable manners, but he'd end up with loads of young maids hoping and thinking that he felt more them, than he actually did. It only got worse when courting seasons began, and young women began falling for him left and right! Between the ages of 17 - 22, Daemion was a menace leaving a trail of broken hearts behind him in his wake.
That is until a certain cousin/fellow Targaryen caught his eye (I'm thinking possibly one of Baela's and Jace's daughters, OR Luke and Daenaera's OR maybe even Jaehaera...ouuu older woman kink. Either way, Daemion seems VERY Targ cultured to me, like accidentally so very. He's his father's son, in that he's going for a Valyrian bride at the end of the day! 😂)
By the time he's grown into a young man, he is a relatively skilled sword fighter, though he's far better with a morningstar or an axe than a sword. He and Meraxes are an inseparable bond and he's a great dragon rider. Daemon loves annoying Aemond by that praising his namesake grandson only grew up so well because of his name (grown men Aemond and Daemon still 100% act like children with eachother and I think that's part of their father-in-law/son-in-law charm!)
Tumblr media
Aelyx had also grown to become a handsome young man (he doesn't know it or get it, but the noble girls of the Kingdom are very attracted to him...even some of the noblemen, the sexually fluid noblemen of Westeros are very attracted to both twins honestly), but he'd always remain a far more silent brooding type (much like his father). As he'd gotten older, he'd actually gravitate towards his father a lot, spending countless hours flying and training with him, as well speaking of histories and conversing in Valyrian. As he got older he'd spar with Vaella (and another sibling!) a lot, the two being the best sword fighters of all the children (debatable as there are some other kids coming who are quite good too! But I still think Vaella and Aelyx are the technical best).
Aelyx would also grow to be his younger siblings favourite tutor, when they weren't taking lessons with their maesters, they always wanted Aelyx to read to them because he always had the most patience compared to Vaella or Daemion.
When courting seasons begin, he's not as fond of it as Daemion (and another sibling!) is. He keeps to the edge of the dance floor with Vaella (he hates the social outings themselves, while Vaella could just care less for dances or court etiquette, she's well versed in both...she just doesn't care for them. He's also well versed in both, he just has anxiety and hates the attention/feeling crowded) but they're both always constantly asked to dance by noblemen and noblewomen.
I think Aelyx marries a tad bit outside the family, maybe still Valyrian -esque features wise but maybe like a Celtigar girl or someone from Lys or Volantis. Maybe a Velaryon cousin! Or maybe truly outside the family, like a Stark or Lannister, Tully or Grejoy, Baratheon...who knows! Aelyx is a bit of a wild card to me ✨
❃ ❃ ❃
Just like with Vaella's, this was just a fun little addition I wanted to share! I have created the art for ALL 6 children, every once in awhile I'll drop their little life bios as fun little bonus content! I'm also going to start linking them together at the bottom of these posts for convenience and or anyone who later on wants to check the full set!
Sidenote: if I ever do make that Part 3 to this series, then don't mind me if some of these details change when I do get to writing it. These are just my main initial thoughts for these characters now. But if I ever go into more depth with them, things might alter just a tad!
-

Reading Half Bad
Ok, so. Everyone says don’t read the books. And I usually don’t, especially if I love a show the way I love this one. But the changes are so fascinating! I’ve just finished the first two parts, and I just can’t stop contrasting with the show. Also this one’s for you if you’re curious but just NOT going to pick up the books.
Soul is actually Annalise’s uncle, and she has 3 brothers? I love that the show simplified it. Also, Nathan has two other siblings? Also glad the show simplified this, although I would have loved to see his half brother on screen (although his presence confuses the tension for me a bit, and his absence in the show shifts the focus to Annalise and Gabriel’s importance to Nathan’s life).
All the Council people are just faceless, looming threats? It makes sense in the book, since Nathan’s narration covers from when he’s six to seventeen, but I like the show’s move to give them faces and names.
Jessica’s still a psychopathic B.
Between starting with Nathan’s “training” and the “Notifications,” there’s a lot of manufactured tension that doesn’t really do much for me. Nathan’s voice is much more compelling, so the other two choices just make it feel like the narrative is trying too hard.
Label change: it’s White Witches and Black Witches in the story world. I’m not sure what England’s history makes the connotation of those two words, but for an American audience it rings very on the nose. Plus, the notion of Fairborn v. Bloods helps me sink into the fantasy of it all.
Side note: the Fairborn is actually the knife Nathan may or may not use to kill Marcus? I love the connotation of this change for the show, since the Fairborn are literally trying to use Nathan as their weapon to kill Marcus.
It feels weirdly like all the women in this book are related with their white blond hair? Idk, it just feels like Green has no idea how to write description, or that physical description of characters is… ya know… important for readers.
The book opens in second person, reverts to first from Nathan’s perspective, and then goes back to second. It’s weird, and I don’t like it. How are reader supposed to bond with Nathan? Or track his experiences?
I don’t think I’m going to like book Celia, which is too bad because she’s one of my favorite parts of the show - especially her arc.
No Gabriel yet. Boo.
