How the Bachelors handle farm work
So, I got the inspiration of this from the parking lot of Walmart. Don’t ask- I don’t know.
Also, these are hella long but I just LOVED writing this. I really did- they all are just so cute. I hope y’all enjoy reading this!!
 Alex
Ever just wanted to move a straight up cow? Then boy do I have the man for you!!
Honestly, because Alex trains so much he has the stamina and strength of a bull. He will help you move anything you need him to for as long as you need him too. Hay bales? He’s got it. You need help hoeing, planting seeds, and watering? Literally no problem. Because he hasn’t been so big on book learning- he loves learning through his physical strength. He loves when you teach him the basics of crop growing and how to properly take care of animals, and once you teach him- you can just let him run wild. He’ll then realize how physically stressing your job is and will soon put ‘working on the farm’ as part of his regiment. (Plus seeing him chop down trees shirtless isn’t such a bad sight, heh heh.)
You soon realize that he just loves all the cows. He moo’s back to tease them almost all the time, but genuinely enjoys feeding them and giving them pats on the head. His favorite way of showing off to you is going, “Hey, honey!” when you turn around, you’re always surprised to see him just holding a calf in his arms. His beaming smile makes your heart flutter.
Alex is always willingly to help you out on the farm in any way he can- sometimes you don’t know if it’s because he loves you or it’s because he thinks of it as training. With time though, you see that it’s actually both. He loves when you ask him for help because he enjoys knowing that you depend on him too and showing off his muscles in some way just makes him smile. He loves making you laugh, so while you take care of the chickens- he likes to make funny voices for the cows.
His constant help on the farm and his drive to make you laugh, has you loving him even more.
Sam
Sam doesn’t know a whole lot about farming, but he absolutely loves working with the animals. I’d imagine goats would be his favorite because they’re just so weird. I mean, he’s fascinated by the fact that they just want to eat everything in sight- soley because they can and that they don’t know any better.
Another reason Sam loves working with the animals is that once he realizes they’re safe and relatively easy to handle- he brings Vincent along to show him how to pet and take care of the animals. Sometimes you’ll see Penny, Vincent, and Jas on a field trip to the farm so that Sam can actually be a guide to them (of course Jas also gets the opportunity of showing off what she knows since she lives on a farm herself.)
There is nothing more wholesome than seeing Sam’s goofy smile when working with the kids. He loves feeling like he’s a part of the children’s lives and enjoys teaching them lifelong lessons.
Although… Seeing him fighting the goats as they try and eat his shirt is one of the funniest parts of your day. You can’t help but laugh as you watch him tell the goats to, “F*CK OFF!” (only sometimes do you actually help him.)
Sebastian
Sebastian wasn’t to keen on helping you out on the farm when you first asked for his help. “I’ll just screw things up.” He kept saying to you, but one day, as a present you give him a pure black egg with freckles on it. You tell him that it’s a very special looking chicken that’s hard to obtain, but that when it grows up it’s black. Oh man. When you told him this, he was ALL about this chicken. He placed the egg in the incubator and every single day- he would check up on it until it hatched.
The chicken and him were absolutely inseparable. You’d find him talking to himself all throughout the day until you find out that he puts the little chick in his sweatshirt pocket and literally carries it around everywhere with him. He shows off his little chick to everyone he knows- what made the chicken and him even closer was that people were just as weirded out by the chicken as they were of Sebastian. “I want to call my chicken, Midnight” He explains one day, “I actually feel like Midnight understands me as much as you do.”
Sure, Sebastian wasn’t great help with any of the other tasks on the farm, but the fact that he gives you the biggest, goofiest looking smile whenever he holds Midnight- it makes it all worth it. You’re happy that you could give Sebastian something to look forward to each and every day. It’s not long until you have a pet bed in your own house- just for Midnight, but you can’t complain. Seeing Sebastian smile as often as he had been was enough for you.
Harvey
The physical work was not Harvey’s specialty. After trying to assign him different tasks- you figured that you should let Harvey do what he wanted to do. After all, you married the goofball because you enjoyed his independent and nurturing side. (Getting patched up or given a deep tissue massage after a long day was wonderful.)
It wasn’t until you saw him grumbling over some paperwork that you asked him what he was doing, “I know I don’t have the endurance and strength to help you out on the farm, but I wanted to help you out at least in some way.” When he hands you the papers- you find out that he had been tallying every single expense made on the farm. In short, he decided he wanted to handle all of the farms finances whilst also checking crop prices each season and dating them back through the years to see what crops made the most money. “Grow potatoes in Spring, blueberries in Summer, and cranberries in the Fall.” He started, “As you can see here-“ and that’s where you lost him. Going through all the numbers made your head spin, but the fact that he did this all on his own and that he wanted to do it gave you so much relief. After a flurry of kisses- he was happy to know that he was doing a good thing.
Although you also find that when you patch up the Greenhouse- he gets excited. You find out that the expansive farm was just overwhelming to him and he didn’t want to get sunburned or heat exhaustion (which happened to you often.) You give him the territory of the Greenhouse and tell him, “Just work on it on the days you want too. You’re not required to do anything.”
You soon find it extremely touching though when he routinely presents you with flowers that he grew himself. He explains that he only wanted the Greenhouse to gift you flowers all year long.
Elliot
Elliot finds the farm relaxing and fascinating. Having only lived on the beach- the farm was an entirely new territory that he got to explore. Every day, you’d find breakfast on the table with a note on it. You understood the general theme within each note being about ‘beauty’. He’d ask you the same question every day once you finished reading it, “Do you understand it yet?” What does he mean by ‘yet’, you wonder? Sheepishly you finally understood what every single note meant, and he was writing about you the whole time. When tiny snowflakes covered your hair in the Winter when you came in in the evening to how the sunlight glistened on your skin in the Summer. You finally get that his real fascination was watching and admiring you while you worked.
That’s not to say that he didn’t help you sometimes. Working on the farm humbled him greatly and inspired him to continuously write every single day. Before you knew it- he had multiple books published that became successful, all because he had you and your farm as inspiration.
His biggest physical help on the farm was taking care of the plants that grew each of the three seasons. He loved working on the farm with you because his enjoyment was discovering the new leaves that grew over night- or that a flower would bud on the potatoes. He was routinely in awe at the new discoveries in plant life that he couldn’t give it up. You would give him a section of the farm to take care of- only come to find out that when you finished your section, he was too distracted by about the third plant that you would have to finish it for him. He would always profusely apologize about it, but you found it touching that even something as simple as a plant was just so exciting to him.
Sometimes he looked like a little kid- mouth agape and eyes sparkling when he’d see a plant, he personally took care of growing bigger and bigger. As a gift, you gave him planters so he could better watch the plant life grow. His big, sweet smiles stick in your mind, making you smile too. He was just too cute.
Shane
You expected him to basically fight you over the chicken coop. But with everything that Shane had been through- you didn’t want to stand in the way of what made him happy. He complained about his body a lot, but you will never see this man run harder just to tell you that a new chick hatched overnight. You’d find yourself just watching him as he would chase the chickens around the pen only to then get swarmed by them- knocking him in on his ass every time. You would just laugh amongst all the bawking as he’d try to free himself. Now, he never hurt a chicken, and they’ve never hurt him- they just swarm him because they want too. It’s like one minute you’re watering your crops, just to turn and hear him scream as a mass of feathers cover him. You’d wash his clothes and routinely find feathers stuck in his pockets- you decided to collect them. One day you’ll make fun of him for it or cover the entire side of his bed with them. The feather prank was all in your hands.
Now, you thought he just had an affection for the birds until you get him to talk about them. Shane knows EVERYTHING about chickens- when’s the best time to feed them, what to feed them, how much to feed them, how to take care of their feathers, how to handle an egg-bound chicken, how to care for newly hatched chicks- this man knew everything. It wasn’t long until he knew the exact spot each chicken loved to be scratched at.  He’d explain that every chicken had a different spot that they loved being petted at- it was mind boggling.
Now Jas knew a whole lot about farming, but Shane would consistently bring her to the farm. She loved it too! Jas got to see Shane genuinely happy all the time and it brought her a lot of comfort to see him mess with the chickens (and the chickens mess with him back.) She was so happy to know that Shane was content and satisfied with his life now- instead of lonely and depressed. He expressed joy, and even to Jas- Shane was teaching her new things about chickens every time she came over. She’s smart, but there were things that he shows her that blows her mind.
Through it all- you knew Shane wouldn’t be big on helping out on the farm, but you knew if you could get him in the chicken coop, it would make him undeniably happy. That was enough for you- you didn’t marry him to make him work on the farm- you married him because of his goof ball smile and nerdy talk about chickens and it made you so so happy.
It also helped that he could take a joke and that you two could tease each other- filling his side of the bed with feathers cracked you up at the twisted face he gave. He was happy, and that made you happy.

okay so I’ve spent literal days thinking about a Wicked AU starring Blaine and Ephemera because I’m insane and greatly enjoy things and I think it’s about time I shared it. It’s by no means perfect but I think it could be pretty fun to think about
Cast:
Blaine as Elphaba
Ephemera as Glinda
Lauriam as Fiyero
Strelitzia as Nessa
Player as Boq
The MoM as The Wizard
Ava as Morrible
Luxu as Dr. Dillamond
Blaine’s Chirithy as Chistery
Various spirit pets as Flying Monkeys; Lion cub
Skuld as Dorothy
Ven as Avaric
Notes:
yes some character assassination has to happen to make this work okay? But I’m trying my best to help you see the vision ;~;
firstly I want to say I’m sorry about Skuld, I tried to give her a solid role but really the only one left was Dorothy. Which I suppose isn’t too bad if you think about it
I’m more sorry about Ava, who herself is nothing like Morrible, but actively shapes the fates of all the dandelions, so it stands to reason that she fits the role of the person who controls what happens with all the main Wicked characters too
So this whole AU basically started with the similarities I noticed between “For Good” and Elphaba handing over the Grimmerie to Glinda, and Blaine handing over the Book of Prophecies to Ephemera. My brain cells continued to haphazardly collide from there
Blaine has a black hat, Eph has curly hair. Need I say more. Perhaps I will
Blaine being the unsung hero and Eph ending up becoming the famous figurehead, a la Wicked parallels gives me Emotions
The Emerald City = Scala and how the two of them leave an impact on the city, for better or for worse…….
imagine how goddamn funny it would be for Ephemera to change his name to Ephemer like how Galinda became Glinda. This alone is worth the entire AU imo
so you might be wondering, what can you ship in this AU? The answer may surprise you
yes Blaine and Lauriam have a sensual duet in the woods. yes Blaine and Eph have a duet about how they’ve changed each other for the better. yes Lauriam and Eph have a college romance
I feel like Strelitzia’s role speaks for herself, from being a younger sister (albeit to a different character lol), to being infatuated with a person...to dying tragically as a part of someone else’s big plans
Luxu is Dr. Dillamond mostly because of his ‘mentor’-esque relationship to Blaine...also because of the goat parallel
I have this post to thank for The MoM in the role of The Wizard
I feel like everything else is kind of self-explanatory but of course if there are any questions, y’all can shoot an ask. I’ll probably add to this post if I think of more stuff down the road

Shadow and Bone Thoughts
April 24, 2021
12:19 AM
Just finished the Shadow and Bone series on Netflix and I have an abundance of thoughts.
Having read both the Shadow and Bone Trilogy and the Six of Crows duology, I was very excited for this show to come out. However, having seen some bad adaptations of books over the years, I was a bit wary of this show at first. My mind changed instantly when I saw how dedicated all of the actors and people that worked on this show were. The trailer dropped and I immediately became invested.
*SPOILERS* (for both the books and show duh)
Thoughts on the Shadow and Bone Series:
-I think that the show does a really great job in improving Mal as a character.  The Shadow and Bone books are all told from the perspective of Alina. In the show, we are able to see things from Mal’s perspective. It’s evident in the show that Mal does have affection for Alina and that he values her in his life. We see the obstacles and hardships that he undergoes in order to get to Alina. He was willing to risk his life to track an animal that literally everyone thought of as a myth. He’s stabbed, punched, and shot at multiple times before he’s even able to reach Alina. The show made Mal a lot more likable than what he is in the books. In the books, Mal judges Alina and harbors a lot of resentment towards her. In the show, when Mal and Alina are alone in the woods, he doesn’t force her to tell him what she did in the Little Palace and holds no judgement against her. I wasn’t a Malina shipper but seeing the way the two of them portrayed on the show made my heart feel all fuzzy. Those flashback scenes of them as kids were cute af.
-They did Alexei dirty like that by having him killed 20 mins after we see him survive the Fold. At least he lived a bit longer than in the books. RIP.
-The Crows were definitely a highlight of this show. They added a lot of moments of levity with their dynamic. The comedic timing of their scenes was perfect. Kit, Amita, and Freddy all literally embodied everything I thought that the Crows would be. Kaz holding a goat in his arms and walking around all serious was hilarious. Jesper hugging that goat when they’re in the train is another hilarious moment. Inej is a badass as usual and I loved whenever she would make fun of Jesper.
-MILO WAS THE STAR OF THE SHOW and he actually proved to be useful later on.
-THE KAZ VS. DARKLING INTERACTION. There’s just something about having the two characters that wear the most black face off with each other.
-The Darkling and Alina’s relationship is a lot more consensual compared to the books. In the show, it’s actually Alina that kisses him first compared to Darkling just ambushing her in the books. At the winter fete when ALINA IS LITERALLY PROPPED ONTO HIS DESK, he asks her if she wants to continue which is a whole lot more consent than in the books. Knowing that the goodbye kiss that the Darkling gives Alina before he leaves her in his office was unscripted makes that kiss 10x hotter.
-It was interesting seeing what the past looked like for the Darkling. We get to see the creation of the fold which makes a lot of sense because you can do that on TV. Seeing what his past was like and the way he acts towards Alina (at least for the first 5 episodes) makes you want to empathize with him. I knew that he was bad but the show does a really good job in almost convincing you to like him. Ben Barnes’ long hair was giving me Prince Caspian vibes. That man has not aged since 2008.
-I love how some of Nina and Matthias’ scenes were all word for word from the books. Their scenes pretty much summed up how I imagined them together. The scene where Nina falls into the ice was SO intense, I thought for a second that Matthias was going to let go of her. Knowing that he dies in Crooked Kingdom had me really sad whenever I saw them together. “Matthias is dreaming again” *sobs* Also, Danielle got a bunch of unnecessary hate for being casted as Nina. I get that people wanted her to be more plus-sized and I’m all for that, but that does not mean you should hate on the actor. Danielle is a great actor and she was able to play a convincing Nina.
-Seeing the cut on screen was so cool. It was a bit gruesome seeing all of the bodies be sliced in half. Anyways, the special effects in this show in general was superb.
-Genya and David were adorable af. Alina describes David as unattractive in the books but man is Luke Pasqualino attractive.
-The collar looked a lot more painful than what I imagined when reading the books. I really do feel for Alina when she looks in the mirror at the collar with such a pained expression.
-Having Alina be half Shu makes a lot of sense. It contributes more to her feeling like she doesn’t belong anywhere and her questioning of who she really is. Jessie as Alina was perfect and she really did make Alina a lot more likable compared to the books.
-Ben was casted perfectly as the Darkling. He has the looks and he has the skills to play such a character. There’s such a subtlety to his facial expressions that reveal what the Darkling is thinking or feeling.
-I really only have two things that I did not like in the show. The way that they made Zoya racist towards Alina was something that I felt was unnecessary. One big thing that I did not like was the fact that the Darkling’s name is revealed so early on in the show and mentioned so casually by him and other people. There no longer is any weight or gravity to his name which really was one of the only things that made him feel human in the books.
-I do hope that there will be a second season. I just wonder how they’re going to integrate the Crows and still have them be connected somehow to the Alina. NIKOLAI AND WYLAN aka two of my favorite characters better be in the second season.
Overall this show was an absolute EXPERIENCE to watch. The show is actually able to improve the books which is something that a lot of adaptations don’t do. All of the actors did such a great job in portraying their characters and watching their interviews together and them interact with each other on social media makes me so happy. I 10/10 recommend for you to watch the series, especially if you have read the books and are a fan of Leigh Bardugo’s.

I’m requesting a matchup, please. I am bi, I use she/they pronouns, am an intp, and horribly confused about what’s going on most of the time. While I spend most of my time roller skating, I’m also really into baking, my strengths being in the form of butter cookies, pecan pies, and brownies, but that doesn’t stop me from being a couch potato and playing the occasional video game. For fun I love makeup, whether it’s glam or gore makeup, because I enjoy being able to express myself no matter how I’m feeling. Reading and crocheting are some of my favorite pastimes, as well as embroidery and puzzles. I have 17 piercings and 2 tattoos, my hair is currently bleached to pale blonde and cheekbone length, but I’ve dyed it several colors. I love animals, I own a dog and a snake, used to have a horse, some chickens, and a goat. I listen to most every kind of music, especially pop punk. I’d like to think I’m a chaotic neutral person, but sometimes I feel like I lean more towards chaotic good. I’m 5’4, a lil chubby and curvy, blue eyes, freckles all over, and a mild case of rbf. I don’t really have a lot of things that I dislike, except for overly confident/cocky people who think they’re better than everyone because no one has told them otherwise. I speak a little French, a little German, and a little American Sign Language. Please and thank you!
hi! thank you for requesting! omg i aspire to have more piercings because they all look so fucking good- i’m thinking trying a septum or an industrial bar (if my parents let me). anyways, here’s your matchup!
generating matchup...
Tumblr media
matchup: complete
i match you up with tendou!
Tumblr media
what first drew him to you was your tattoos and piercings, he saw them and was lowkey obsessed, and he knew that he had to get to know you. he walked up to you and immediately started talking. at first, you were a little confused about why he was talking to you, but you soon warmed up to him, and you guys became really good friends, and he asked you out soon after.
(timeskip spoiler) since tendou becomes a chocolatier in the timeskip, he loves to make desserts as well. you guys often have lowkey competitions over who can make the best dessert, and sometimes you even bet things on it (the bets are ususally bragging rights or that the loser has to accept the dare that the winner gives them). if you guys work together, you and tendou can literally make the prettiest, best-tasting things ever, and tendou is sure to share it with his teammates.
he really wanted to get a couple of piercings, and seeing you have so many just pushed him over the edge. he asked you which piercing he should get, and after much deliberation, he decided to get a snug piercing and a vertical labret. it looks so good, and he likes to get you guys matching jewels so you guys can have something else in common.
he loves to help you dye your hair, and he always comes up with the most crazy color combinations, but they always turn out really good, so you let him be your lowkey hairstylist, and he has gotten really good at dying people’s hair because of you. once he dyed some strands of his hair black and blue, and it looked so good, but he liked his normal hair better.
since he saw how much you liked roller skating, he wanted to try it out, so you guys went out to the local skate park at like 1am and he tried to skate. at first, he was really bad, and you got so many videos of him falling, but he learned quickly, and after a few hours, he was mediocre, and even attempted a few tricks, and failed (for the most part). you guys still go out to roller skate, and now he’s pretty good, but definitely not at good as you are.
tendou loves your makeup, and while he was chilling at your house one time, he asked if you could do some makeup for him as well. he stayed very still (surprisingly), and it turned out super nice, and he was literally in love with the look. he took so many pictures of you guys, and even attempted to do your makeup afterwards, and it didn’t turn out good at all, so he leaves the makeup artistry to you.
he has developed a spiritual connection with your snake, so whenever he goes to your house, he will always say hi to it, and if you let him, he will hold him, and just watch him wrap around his arms or shoulders. you are starting to suspect that your snake likes him better than you, but you won’t mention it, because tendou loves your snake so much as well.
you guys have the same music taste, so you and tendou share a playlist with both of your favorite songs, and everyday it gets a little bit longer. the playlist is really good, and all the songs fit together pretty well, and tendou will always listen to it when he is missing you. you guys have had late night karaoke sessions, just blasting music while screaming the lyrics so everyone can hear you guys.
you and tendou love to emotionally wreck cocky people, and if you ever see an overconfident person who is being a jerk, you guys literally turn into a god tier heather chandler and regina george level duo. tendou loves when you guys do this, and he will not hesitate to be the bad bitch that he truly is.
overall, you guys are chaotic, but in a chill lowkey romantic way that everyone aspires to be. most of the dates you do are pretty spontaneous, and you guys always make so many funny memories with each other, and tendou wouldn’t have it any other way. he just loves to be around you, because he knows he will have a fun time when he’s with you.
i hope you enjoyed!

guess what bitch. all of the flower asks. if i have to do it, you have to do it
Hahaha, love you too. Asshole.
Alisons: Sexuality? - Hahahaha bold of you to assume I have any clue. I like girls. I like guys. I like nonbinary people. And other people on the spectrum. I’m not pan, idk what though. Plus the label doesn’t really matter.
Amaranth: Pronouns/Gender? - I’m a demiboy, so he/him/his or they/them/theirs. Whichever, it doesn’t really matter. Though I personally feel more masculine.
Amaryllis: Birthday? - Today lol (January 13th)
Anemone: Favorite flower? - Would it be cliche and stupid to say roses? Because those. Weirdly.
Angelonia: Favorite t.v. show? - Damn that’s hard. Between BBC Sherlock, BBC Merlin, Supernatural, Once Upon A Time, and John Mulaney (shut up it counts)
Arum-Lily: What’s the farthest you’d go for a stranger? - It really depends on the situation. I would give away clothing, risk my life, give them shelter in my home, allow them to borrow my phone, but them lunch... I’d do a lot for anyone. Even though I have trust issues.
Aster: What’s one of your favorite quotes? - “Yeah, the asshole who sent me this (love you alex)” - @eyeforaneye-toothforatooth lmao. Truly though? “Your destiny is calling, you better find out what he wants.” and “A half cannot truly hate that which makes it whole.”, both from Merlin, about Merlin and Arthur. They're just so gay.
Aubrieta: Favorite drink? - Tea.
Baby’s Breath: Would you kiss the last person you kissed again? - Meh. Sure. I don’t really care. The one right before that by like 10 seconds, 100%.
Balsam Fir: Have you ever been in love? - Yes. Oh god yes.
Baneberries: Favorite song? - Literally impossible. You are insane.
Basket of Gold: Describe your family. - A disaster. Both biological and chosen. I have 3 little brothers in my chosen family and all of them are younger than me.
Beebalm: Do you have a best friend? Who is it? - I have 5. The bitch who sent me this (love you), Evan, TJ, Shiro, and Sid.
Begonia: Favorite color? - Bloodred and black.
Bellflower: Favorite animal? - Wolves. They’re amazing.
Bergenia: Are you a morning or night person? - I’m not a person. But mornings fuck me up dude.
Black-Eyed Susan: If you could be any animal for a day, what would it be? - A dodo bird. Because they’re all dead.
Bloodroots: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? - So many things. A lead singer of a band (which I might get to do soon, yay), a policeman, an fbi agent, a photographer, etc.
Bluemink: What are your thoughts on children? - I love them, I’d probably adopt older children because they need it the most, but I love children so much.
Blazing Stars: What are you afraid of? Is there a reason why? - I answered this earlier, “I am afraid of spiders. Because they have so many legs and so many eyes and THEY DON’T FUCKING NEED ALL OF THEM LIKE WTF?!?!?!?!?!”
Borage: Give a random fact about your childhood. - About 75% of the food my brother and I ate was Ramen, Pop Tarts, and instant rice.
Bugleherb: How would you spend your last day on Earth? - With the people I love the most.
Buttercup: Relationship status? - Sadly single :(
Camelia: If you could visit anywhere, where would you want to go? - Ireland. Without a doubt. It’s so beautiful.
Candytufts: When do you feel most loved? - I answered this one too. “When I’m cuddling with someone I care about while watching one of my favorite shows or movies. Or just when I’m cuddling someone I care about. And yes, that includes my puppy. (Funny joke, I’m watching Merlin while watching Merlin) (Merlin is my puppy).”
Canna: Do you have any tattoos? - Sadly no. I will though.
Canterbury Bells: Do you have any piercings? - Two in each ear.
California Poppy: Height? - 5′3½″
Cardinal Flower: Do you believe in ghosts? - Yeah.
Carnation: What are you currently wearing? - Jeans and a flannel, as always.
Catnip: Have you ever slept with a nightlight? - Yes.
Chives: Who was the last person you hugged? - Sid. He’s the best, honestly.
Chrysanthemum: Who was the last person you kissed? - TJ. He’s basically my brother. The person before that was Shiro, and both of those were New Years Day at like midnight.
Cock’s Comb: Favorite font? - Calligraphy. It’s so fun to write in. But in computers, Times New Roman for some reason.
Columbine: Are you tired? - *in Snape’s voice* Alllllllways
Common Boneset: What are you looking forward to? - A good night’s sleep for once.
Coneflower: Dream job? - Lead singer of a rock band, which I’ll probably get to do soon!
Crane’s-Bill: Introvert or extrovert? - Extrovert, definitely.
Crocus: Have you ever been in love? - This question was already asked. But yes.
Crown Imperial: What’s the furthest you’d go for someone you care about? - To the ends of the Earth.
Cyclamen: Did you have a favorite stuffed animal as a child? What was it? - Yes. It was a huge stuffed cheetah. Now it’s a giant stuffed bear from Evan.
Daffodil: What’s your zodiac sign? - Capricorn. I was supposed to be an Aquarius. And I personally think I’m an Aquarius more than a Capricorn.
Dahlia: Have you done anything worth remembering? - Not really. Other than date people.
Daisy: What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment? - I don’t fucking know. Winning the school spelling bee in 5th grade?
Daylily: What would you do if your parents didn’t like your partner(s)? - I wouldn’t care. If I love them and they love me, that’s all that matters to me.
Dandrobium: Who is the last person you said “I love you” to? - Sid I think.
False Goat’s Beard: What is something you are good at? - Idk. Singing?
Foxgloves: What is something you’re bad at? - Everything.
Freesia: What are three good things that have happened to you in the last month? - I got a puppy, I got my binder, I gave my (now ex) girlfriend the best gift I’ve ever given in my life.
Garden Cosmos: How was your day today? - Considering all I’ve done is watched Merlin, type this, and cuddle with Merlin? Pretty good.
Gardenia: Are you happy with where you're at in your life? - Nope.
Gladiolus: What is something you hope to do in the next year or two? - Die :)
Glory-of-the-Snow: What are ten things that make you happy/you’re grateful to have in your life? - In no particular order: @eyeforaneye-toothforatooth, Evan, TJ, Shiro, Sid, Merlin, BBC Merlin, Sherlock, Supernatural, Harry Potter
Heliotropium: What helps you calm down when you feel stressed? - Healthily? Dying my hair, listening to music, reading, writing, and getting hugs.
Hellebore: How do you show your affection? - Many ways. Mostly hand hearts, gifts, trust, and hugs.
Hoary Stock: What are you proudest of? - My flannel collection. I don’t know the exact number but it’s immense.
Hollyhock: Describe your ideal day. - cuddling with my friends while watching shows and movies and reading.
Hyacinth: What do you like to do in your free time? - Read. Write. Listen to music. Watch TV. Cuddle.
Hydrangea: How long have you known your best friend? How did you meet them? - ok gimme a sec.
@eyeforaneye-toothforatooth: They hated me when we met. We’ve known each other for... 3 or 4 years? We met in science in 6th grade I think.
Evan: We met in 6th grade. They noticed we had the same flannel on and commented on it. I hated them for like 2 years. Then we became friends, dated, now we’re best friends. I love them so much.
TJ: He was a friend of my best friend’s friend. Started hanging out in 7th grade, been like brothers ever since.
Shiro: Barely knew each other, then kinda “met” in 8th grade. Quickly became friends, dated, became best friends ever since.
Sid: Met him in SAGA this year. He bought me a binder, he’s the kindest person to me at my new school. I love him so much.
Irises: Who can you talk to about (almost) everything? - I can talk to @eyeforaneye-toothforatooth about practically everything. I love them so much.
Laceleaf: How many friends do you have? - Surprisingly a lot.
Lantanas: What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received? - Idk. “You look very handsome today.”?
Larkspur: What do you think of yourself? - What an utter piece of garbage.
Lavender: What’s your favorite thing about yourself? - My eyebrows? Idk they look cool, especially when I do them. One’s got a slit.
Leather Flower: What’s your least favorite thing about yourself? - All of it.
Lilac: What is something you liked to do as a child? - Sleep. When I could.
Lily: Who was your best friend when you were a kid? - It changed at least once every year. Paige, Sheyenne, Peyton, Chloe, the list goes on.
Lily of the Incas: What is something you still feel guilty of? - I followed everyone in kinda making fun of this kid who was a trans girl. I felt so guilty about it then, and I feel so guilty about it now. I hope she is living her best life now, and if she’s reading this I want her to know I am so so sorry. And I have felt it too, I have been made fun of for my gender identification. I am so sorry.
Lily of the Nile: What is something you feel guilty for that you shouldn’t feel guilty about? - Idk. There’s one thing I’m sworn not to tell about but the person who asked me this knows, so it doesn’t matter.
Lupine: What does your name mean? Why is that your name? - My deadname? Means “grace of god”, because my family is very Christian. My chosen name? Means “Defender of men; protector of mankind.” Which is honestly just so badass. I chose it because I liked it and it was genderneutral.
Marigold: Where did you grow up? Tell us about it. - Fort Collins, Colorado babyyyyyyyyy. It was nice and peaceful and small and I loved it.
Morning Glory: What was your bedroom like growing up? - Small. Always a disaster. Sadly shared with my brother.
Mugworts: What was it like for you as a teenager? Did you enjoy your teenage years? - So far? Sucky as fuck. I hate it. I love my friends, but other than that I hate it. I’m only like halfway through them anyway. It’s been spent trying to prove to my parents that I am just as good as my brother, who I happened to raise.
Norwegian Angelica: Tell us about your mom. - Awesome. Sweet and kind, short, with red hair, hazel eyes, and freckles. She’s caring, and she was raised in a Christian house but she’s trying so hard to be accepting, to fight against her religion for her child and I love that so much. I love her so much.
Onions: Tell about your dad. - Kinda annoying. Plays video games all day and makes my brother and I do everything around the house. He tries to be nice and stuff but it really doesn’t work that well. He basically says he “doesn’t care” about the whole sexuality thing and gender thing and then he says stuff like “you can’t really know til your hormones have settled” and “Your name is your name until you can legally change it.” It’s stupid.
Orchid: Tell about your grandparents. - Which ones? I have multiple. I have 4 grandmas and 4 grandpas. Tho I suppose they’re all pretty similar. Very Christian, yet pretty accepting. They love me to death. I have one super transphobic grandpa, but basically all of them helped me raise my brother when I was little and my dad was asleep from working nights and my mom was at work all day. I owe them a lot. And I love them so much.
Pansy: What was your most memorable birthday? What made it so memorable? - My 12th. My best friend Val was there and so was my friend Tei and that was it, and they basically got along too well and I was really left out of things at my own birthday party. It was annoying. It was the first time I ever felt true jealousy, and that’s why I remember it so well. I haven’t liked a birthday since because it reminds me of that. I used to like it because it was a day when my parents actually payed attention to me and were off, but now everyone makes too big of a deal of it and I just wish it didn’t exist.
Petunia: If you’re in a relationship, how did you meet your partner(s)? If you’re not in a relationship, how did you meet your crush/how do you hope to meet your future partner(s), if you want any? - SAGA club, he founded it a couple years ago. He’s super kind to me and he does so much for me, god I don’t deserve him. He bought me a binder. And he’s my best friend. I love him so much.
Pincushion: How do you deal with pain? - Healthily? Getting hugs and cuddles from my better friends. I can’t really do much of that lately though. *cries in a corner*
Pink: Where is home? - With the family and friends I’ve found.
Plantain Lilies: If you could go back in time, what is one thing you would stop/change? - Wow. Hard choice. I’d either kill Hitler as a baby, or prevent my own conception.
Prarie Gentian: Who is someone you look up to? Describe them. - Sid if you’re reading this I am so sorry, and I’m so sorry for mentioning you so much. But I look up to him, because he is one of the best people I know. I love him so much. He’s sweet and just sadncaspdnnhciodsifcnsjxsojcm.
Primrose: Describe your ideal life. - Idc what’s going on in it, as long as it’s with my found family and friends. I’d like my depression, anxiety, and ADHD to disappear though, ideally.
Rhondendron: What is something you used to believe in as a child? - Jesus. Or life. Either one works.
Ricinus: Who’s the most important in your life? - That’s hard. @eyeforaneye-toothforatooth, Sid, Evan, TJ, Shiro, Freddie Mercury, Elton John, or David Bowie (may Mercury and Bowie rest in peace)
Rose: What’s your favorite sound? - Music. Definitely music.
Rosemallows: What’s your favorite memory? - When I was at our first organized rehearsal for OneActs. I just love hanging out with so many fellow gays (and yes, I am including the straight twink that is Simon)
Sage: What’s your least favorite memory? - Um, I don’t want to go into detail on that. I was 5. It was bad.
Snapdragon: At this moment, what do you want? - A boyfriend lol
St. John’s Wort: Is it easy or difficult for you to express how you feel about things? - Depends. In a relationship? Pretty easy. Any other time? Near impossible until I break.
Sunflower: What is something you don’t want to imagine your life without? - There’s 3. Pie, music, and my brother TJ.
Sweet Pea: How much sleep did you get last night? - I doped myself up on melatonin so about 7½. Usually its between 1 and 4, if I’m lucky enough to fall asleep.
Tickseed: What’s your main reason to get up every morning? - The people I care most about. My best friends. Also the reason I don’t stab myself through the heart. They keep me going. I love them all so much. They mean too much to me to hurt them, if I could in any way.
Touch-Me-Not: How do you feel about your current job? - Living or school? Either one I hate it. I don’t have an actual job.
Transvaal Daisy: What’s your favorite item of clothing? - My flannels. Or my band tees. Or my leather jacket from TJ.
Tropical White Morning Glory: Describe your aesthetic. - I don’t fully know what this is asking. I guess the smell of worn flannel, old worn leather, grease from a car, hair dye, smudged eyeliner, and conjoined lips? Idk.
Tulip: What would be the best present to get you? - Idk. Best present I’ve ever recieved was a binder. But I’d say worn flannel from a thrift store.
Vervain: What’s stressing you out most right now? - Grandparents spamming my phone with “Happy Birthday [deadname]!!!” texts
Wisteria: How many books have you read in the last few months? What were they called? - Idk dude.
Wolf’s Bane: Where do you want to be in life this time next year? - Dead or with a partner.
Yarrow: Do you know what vore is? - Oddly enough, no. But I don’t think I want to.
Zinnia: Give a random fact about yourself. - I have green eyes.
Kass I hate you.

ZACK HEMSEY - I CAN GET IT BACK
Tumblr media
Bucky Barnes was having the strangest dream. He was back in Brooklyn, him and his heavy body, immovable and very stealthy at the same time: ambiguous, like everything else he felt nowadays. His chin was itching, and he scratched it with his left hand, feeling metal fingers soothing the skin. He brushed away the hair from his face and took a deep breath. He was still wearing his navy blue vest and the belt around his torso, which he quickly took off, the buttons clicking. It smelt like jasmine, dust and water; the Brooklyn Bridge was not far away. The house was still pale white, and the sun was standing high, giving the blind spots, hiding the details from his eyes. He felt old. He felt usual. There was dirt on his right palm, and he tried to scrub it off, puzzled to the edge of possibility.
Aren’t I stupid. Getting really really old. Go figure it out, Barnes, said the voice inside his head.
A minute ago he was standing next to Steve, and all his body felt light like a feather, but weird. For a mere second there he got chills because he thought he was falling apart. He’s fallen apart million times before, but this one it was literal. The feet gave way, and then his arm crumbled, and then he suddenly couldn’t stand, collapsing on the ground. The last thing he saw, Y/N, blowing up the clouds of the old leaves with her feet, and how small she looked next to Steve. Why such faces? What happened?
Bucky looked up and put a palm to his forehead, looking at the windows of his house. That’s right, it’s home. There, Rebecca’s room window, with the pale blue curtains they nearly killed each other over at the market last season. So expensive. He couldn’t remember that earlier, but now it was pretty clear. In fact, everything was clear, so right and simple, and he couldn’t understand why it’s been such a big issue to come to terms with his memory.
The window opened, and Rebecca’s head appeared in between the sills.
“Hey, dirty head!”
Her long black hair was like a fox tail, glistening in the sun.
“How many times’ve I told ya not to shove yourself outta window like that!” Bucky barked and paused, startled. He got back his young voice. He hasn’t spoken in that tone for many, many years.
Rebecca yelled something back. He didn’t listen. He looked at her once again, not afraid she’d disappear, not nervous, or confused. He found the situation amusing.
“I’m comin’ up, open the door”, he shouted. Becca grimaced at him, and vanished inside the room.
 He entered the house.
Tumblr media
The blackness wouldn’t go away. He walked, and walked, and walked, and his footsteps only echoed harder. Finally, a pale blue light shone somewhere far in front, and he swore in disappointment. Couldn’t you give me five minutes with my sister? He had no idea to whom he was speaking. Howbeit, no one answered. He walked on, and his face started freezing. He became soft back there in Wakanda. It was a magical place. Good climate, nice, tactful people, the amazing nature, calm nights. He mended goats, for god’s sake. He drank water from the current, and ate fruit that he gathered himself, climbing up the trees like a big monkey. He watched sunrises like it was a TV show. But better. Much better. He seemed to have forgotten a little bit what it’s like when the freezing wind thrusts its icy fangs in skin. And slaps. And slaps. Trying to pendulum him the fuck off the cliff.
He reached out for the gun, but realized he literally just threw it away in Brooklyn. Since he decided to accept everything as it comes, he just went on, averting his face from the wind. Soon his feet were producing no more sound because he was ankles deep in snow. The huge maw of a cave opened agape, letting him out, and he could figure out the station down below in the snowy valley. A tingling feeling of alarm woke up his senses, and he made out, in the wind, the voices. As if somebody licked on his neck under the left ear, he turned exactly when a bullet whistled past him and danged on a rocky wall. He bent. A man was walking towards him, tall and broad-shouldered, and Bucky grouped, ready for the blow. But then, another voice came,
“Stop, wait!”
Bucky raised his head like a squirrel. Steve came out of the whirlwind of the snow, and attacked him with a bear hug.
“Steve?” he heard himself mumble.
Steve was wearing that light blue uniform he had back in forties. His face was alight, innocent and infinitely stupid-looking in this helmet with feathers on the sides.
“Hey, what the hell is going on?” Bucky cried, trying to outhowl the wind. Steve moved closer to him, frowning.
“What do you mean?”
“Why are you dressed like this? Why are you at my station?”
Dum Dum stepped from behind his back, and Bucky greeted him with the wave of the hand.
“Hey, Sarge. Sorry for shooting at you. I thought you were one of these Nazi folks”.
Bucky could see his own breath leaving his lips and dispersing violently in the air right after. So, none of them was confused to see him here, the way he looked? Guess, we’re good with that as well?
Steve was smiling at him, his hand on Bucky’s shoulder.
“I know, it’s darn confusing here”, he nodded with understanding. “But you’ll cope. I think they’re coming for you. Just don’t get on the pan”.
“Where – here?”
The wind was going mad. Bucky could feel it push him in the back. He realized Steve was standing dangerously close to the edge of the cliff.
Steve lifted his hand and touched his temple with the index finger.
“It’s quite a mash-up. Don’t get on the pan, pal. Don’t let them fry you, or there’ll be nothing to recover”.
The Commandos passed them by ceremonially, swaying in the wind like a set of train cars.
“Can I come with you?”
Steve shook his head negatively.
“Nah, Bucky. Not today”.
He was left there, watching his friend slowly vanishing in the white. Barnes could feel his face go hard like ice, and didn’t care. He suddenly felt so heart-broken, and the feeling stroke him so deep he gasped in surprise. The pain, so clear, like the main note of a symphony, moaning high and sharp, tensing his whole body. The heartbreak. He felt so alive he wanted to scream, yell until the snow plugs his throat and suffocates him, and if there had been some fun to standing below the windows of his house in Brooklyn, this strange sensation perished as quickly as it came.
Bucky opened his mouth and growled, with all his wolf might, wishing he could wake up.
He screamed.
And wake up he did.
Tumblr media
The sun was stinging his eyes, and he slapped his stupid face, giggling to himself for no reason at all. He was warm, and naked, and the air from the open window brought the scent of summer in New York. He could smell concrete, grass, and flowers. He could smell his own skin, warmed up by the intense sunshine – it must be past noon already. He got fried after all, despite Steve’s warning.
He could smell something else – very familiar. Sweet fragrance that always hit his nose when the long-haired Y/N was close. He took away his hand and opened his eyes, lifting himself on his left elbow. Happiness flooded his mind when he saw her hair spread and caught underneath his metal arm.
She yelped in pain.
“I’m sorry”, he laughed, “I’m sorry”.
She opened her face like she’s just been created a second ago, even after her hair has been laid out in the bed.
He reached out to her with his good hand, grabbing her skin and found he’s clutching on her ribs.
“Are you hurt?” he asked. Y/N pulled her face closer, burying her head in the puffed pillow.
“No, only scalped. Why?”
“I thought you’ve been stabbed, little one”.
Her hands traced the lines of his back, and he felt shivers jumping joyfully on his shoulder blades. He laid back on his side, pulling his left arm under her pillow, and sighed contentedly.
“You must’ve dreamt that. I’m sure I’d notice if I’d been stabbed”.
Her voice was like a very slow chorus of a church bell, going straight to his brain and soothing it into sleep. He couldn’t see half of her face and was growing wary of it. Bucky lifted himself up again and caught her in his arms, flipping her over so that she’d face the window. Her fingers clutched his skin like she was falling. That was the best feeling. He’d recalled that first time he covered her up because she would be so forgetful of the things around her in the field. Shoot me, I don’t even care. The feeling of her hanging on to him, grabbing his sides like she was drowning, like he was her only way to survival, had never left him, even when he lost the memory of her voice. When she disappeared for two years he was bringing back that moment, and holding on to it, ironically, like his life depended on it.
She was stroking his face gently, like she was forbidden to actually touch him. Like he could say no to her, or push her away. With all his will and strength gathered, Barnes considered it hard. No one has touched him this way for nearly eighty years. He traced her body down her thigh and then up again, counting her ribs. One was missing.
“Maybe you’ll be the one to tell me where I am”.
Y/N was lying next to him like a mermaid, her skin taking in the light from the window. Bucky saw the room behind her, but couldn’t pay much attention.
“Where do you think you are?”
“Not in Wakanda”.
She shook her head slowly, caressing his neck.
“Not home”.
Another negative.
“Not in Siberia”.
“M-hm”.
“But this is not real either”.
“How do you know?”
“The real Y/N wouldn’t let me in”.
She went sore.
“It’s too good to be true”, Bucky went on indifferently, ignoring the light shivers between his bones. His affection boiled bright pink in his throat, and he barely could hear himself speak behind the sound of wanting to open her mouth with his fingers and put his tongue inside. While he could. He didn’t have time to reach Rebecca. And the snowstorm didn’t let him change Steve’s mind. Something told him he wouldn’t have time to cover those six inches between them.
“You know I always try to take care of you”, Y/N said.
“Uh-huh”.
“How are you feeling?”
Bucky sighed and forced himself to look into her eyes.
“Alive. But hurt. It’s good, I guess. It’s different now”.
“Why are you- ”
He felt the bed pushed away from beneath him before she could finish. He bumped his head on the floor hard, like he was falling for a very long time. He clutched his fists and felt something soft and wet in his palms. Bucky grunted angrily, breathing like an animal, and sunk his teeth into his lip, almost tearing it. Enough!

Entertainment heat wave is coming this summer: What to watch for | Entertainment

Entertainment heat wave is coming this summer: What to watch for | Entertainment
Tumblr media
Remember 2019, when hot girl summer became a motto for living with confidence?
Well, with life getting closer to normal and vaccines nudging the pandemic into — fingers crossed — the rear-view mirror, 2021’s entertainment calendar for the next few months has a similar mood.
Call it a hot everything summer.
Blockbuster movies are returning to theaters. Live concerts are set to resume. Television and streaming shows are back to being a nice part of the mix, not a sole entertainment lifeline. And with travel heating up again, beach books can actually be read on a faraway beach.
To navigate this soaring heat index for fun, here is a list of recommendations that are sunny, breezy, steaming and sizzling. You get the idea.
Hot Jeff Daniels summer
Michigan’s resident acting great always keeps it real — remember his plaid dad shirt at February’s virtual Golden Globes? His latest project evokes his home state’s ethos of blue-collar endurance. “American Rust,” a nine-episode series premiering Sept. 12 on Showtime, stars Daniels as the police chief of a Rust-Belt Pennsylvania town who is feeling “ticked off and kind of jumpy” when a murder investigation tests his loyalties. If the preview looks a bit like HBO’s gritty “Mare of Easttown,” that’s a very good thing.
Hot goofy summer
In real life, metro Detroit native Tim Robinson could be a calm, collected guy. But as a sketch comedian, he’s made an art form out of wildly overreacting to life’s little embarrassments. “I Think You Should Leave,” his mini-masterpiece Netflix show, is back July 6 with a second season. Besides brilliantly making himself the butt of the jokes, Robinson always remembers his hometown friends. Let’s hope for repeat appearances by his pals like “Detroiters” co-star Sam Richardson and Troy’s own Oscar nominee, Steven Yeun.
Hot retro Motor City summer
The Detroit of the mid-1950s comes alive in director Steven Soderbergh’s “No Sudden Move,” available July 1 on HBO Max. The crime drama starring Don Cheadle, David Harbour, Benicio del Toro, Jon Hamm and more is about some low-level criminals given a simple assignment that draws them into a mystery that stretches to the heights of the automotive industry’s power structure. The film was shot last year in Detroit under strict COVID-19 safety measures, because Soderbergh, who filmed 1998’s “Out of Sight” here, would accept no other city as a substitute.
Hot road trip summer
Six years ago, a young waitress from Detroit created a viral Twitter thread about a bizarre journey she took to Florida with a new friend to do some freelance stripping. It was as compelling as a novel and as vivid as a movie. Cut to June 30 when “Zola” hits theaters starring Taylour Page and Riley Keough. It’s a comedy and a thriller that defies expectations and makes J-Lo’s “Hustlers” seem mild. Director Janicza Bravo and screenplay co-writer Jeremy O. Harris have created a raunchy adventure that still respects A’Ziah (Zola) King as a strong woman and original writing voice.
Hot action dad summer
Yes, Matt Damon is now old enough to play a Liam Neeson-esque outraged father out for justice. In “Stillwater,” Damon is a worker for an Oklahoma oil rig who must travel to France to try and clear his daughter (Abigail Breslin) of murder charges. Think “Taken,” if it were a serious drama directed and co-written by Tom McCarthy of “Spotlight” fame. It comes out July 30, just in time to make Damon’s fans from his “Good Will Hunting” days feel ancient.
Hot reboot summer
It has been almost a decade since “Gossip Girl” ended its run, which is way too long to be without fashion tips from impossibly beautiful rich kids. The newly reimagined “Gossip Girl” on HBO Max arrives July 8 with some notable improvements, like the inclusiveness of its cast of newcomers. But it’s bringing back the original narrator, Kristen Bell (who grew up in Huntington Woods), as the voice of the title character with the hidden identity.
Hot sweating summer
Sweating is a bodily function, but what exactly is it all about? “The Joy of Sweat: The Strange Science of Perspiration,” out July 13, will explore the biology, history and marketing behind the moisture that makes us glow (to use a polite term). It covers everything from the role of stress in sweat to deodorant research that involves people who can sniff out, literally, the effectiveness of a product. Since the New York Times recommended the book as one of its 24 summer reads, you know that author Sarah Everts did sweat the details.
Hot Olympic star summer
The 2021 Tokyo Games, which run July 23-Aug. 8, will feature the world’s best gymnast, Simone Biles. She still enjoys competing, but quarantining gave her some time to improve her work-life balance, as she told Glamour for its June cover story (which comes with a dazzling photo spread of Biles). “Before I would only focus on the gym. But me being happy outside the gym is just as important as me being happy and doing well in the gym. Now it’s like everything’s coming together.” For the 24-year-old GOAT, the sky — or, maybe, gravity — is the limit.
Hot variety show summer
“What percentage of white women do you hate? And there is a right answer.” That was among the questions posed by internet sensation Ziwe to her first guest, Fran Lebowitz, on the current Showtime series that carries her name. Combining interviews, sketches and music, “Ziwe” deploys comedy to illuminate America’s awkwardness on issues of race and politics. The results are hilarious, so find out about Ziwe now before her next project arrives, a scam-themed comedy for Amazon called “The Nigerian Princess.”
Hot ice road summer
Take the driving skills of the reality series “Ice Road Truckers” and add one stoic dose of Liam Neeson and you’ve got “The Ice Road,” which premiered Friday on Hulu. The adventure flick involves a collapse in a diamond mine, the miners trapped inside and the man (Neeson) who’s willing to steer his ginormous rig over frozen water to attempt a rescue mission. Crank up the AC temporarily!
Hot kindness summer
There is a better way to be a human being, and he shares a name with an Apple TV+ series. “Ted Lasso,” the fish-out-of-water sitcom about an American football coach (Jason Sudeikis) who’s drafted to lead a British soccer team returns for a second season on July 23 —the date that Lasso fans will resume their efforts to be more empathetic and encouraging, just like Ted. Only there’s a new sports psychologist for AFC Richmond who seems impervious to Ted’s charms and home-baked biscuits. She doesn’t like Ted? We’re gobsmacked!
Hot podcast summer
When Michael Che guested on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” recently, his segment was interrupted repeatedly by Dave Chappelle, who kept plugging his “The Midnight Miracle” podcast available on Luminary. What Chappelle was selling is worth the listening. “The Midnight Miracle” brings him together with his co-hosts, Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey, and his famous friends from the comedy world and beyond for funny and though-provoking conversations interspersed with music. If you were a fly on the wall of Chappelle’s home, this is what you might hear.
Hot series finale summer
The last 10 episodes of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” start airing Aug. 12 on NBC, a too-short goodbye to one of the most underrated comedies in TV history. You can give all the glory to “The Office,” but the detectives of the Nine-Nine could go toe to toe with Dunder-Mifflin’s Scranton branch in terms of quirkiness, humanity and office romances and bromances. It’s hard to pick a favorite dynamic among the characters, but the irritated father-incorrigible son vibes between Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) and Det. Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) are sublime.
Hot musical comedy summer
Keegan-Michael Key and “Saturday Night Live’s” Cecily Strong lead a star-studded cast in “Schmigadoon!,” an AppleTV+ series premiering July 16 that magically transports a backpacking couple to a land of 1940s musicals. Until Broadway reopens in September, this parody love letter to the power of musical theater should do nicely. And the premiere episode’s song “Corn Pudding”? Catchy!
Hot nostalgia tour
Hall & Oates are criss-crossing the nation with enough 1980s hits —”Maneater,” “Kiss on My List,” “I Can’t Go for That,” “You Make My Dreams Come True,” etc. — to make you want to trade your mom jeans for spandex leggings. As if they weren’t enough top-40 goodness, their opening acts are Squeeze, still pouring a cup of “Black Coffee in Bed” all these years later, and K.T. Tunstall, whose “Suddenly I See” is immortalized as the anthem of “The Devil Wears Prada.”
Hot all-female, all-Muslim punk band summer
A British import now airing on the NBC streaming spinoff Peacock, “We Are Lady Parts” would be notable alone for defying stereotypes about Muslim women. But this sitcom about an all-female, all-Muslim aspiring rock band is a gem of both representation and laughs, thanks to characters like Amina, a shy doctoral candidate in microbiology whose complaints about a guy she calls “Bashir with the good beard” inspires a song.
Hot documentary summer
While Woodstock has become synonymous with epic music gatherings, the Harlem Cultural Festival of 1969 is finally about to get the pop-culture recognition it deserves. “Summer of Soul: (…Or, When The Revolution Could Not Be Televised),” directed by the Roots drummer Questlove, will hit theaters and Hulu on July 2. It chronicles a mostly forgotten event that drew superstars like Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, the Fifth Dimension, Sly & the Family Stone and B.B. King. Using his vast knowledge of music, archival footage and interviews with performers and those who attended, Questlove has created a history lesson that’s also the best concert you’ve never seen before.
Hot Marvel summer
Once you’re all caught up with the summer streaming sensation “Loki” on Disney+, please turn your attention to two new films. “Black Widow,” the long-awaited star turn for Scarlett Johansson’s former KGB assassin Natasha Romanoff, makes its debut July 9. It’s followed by “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” set for Sept. 3 and starring Simu Liu (“Kim’s Convenience”) as the martial arts master of the title. All brought to you by the corporate global entertainment domination machine that is Marvel.
Hot biopic summer
“Respect,” starring Jennifer Hudson, arrives Aug. 13 at theaters, nearly three years to the day the world lost the Queen of Soul. Although Cynthia Erivo gave a fine performance earlier this year as Franklin in “Genius: Aretha” on the National Geographic network, the odds are good that Hudson, chosen by Franklin herself for the part, will be the definitive screen Aretha.
Hot fiction summer
Terry McMillan calls “The Other Black Girl” essential reading. Entertainment Weekly describes it as “‘The Devil Wears Prada’ meets ‘Get Out,’ with a little bit of ‘Black Mirror’ thrown in.” This debut novel by Zakiya Dalila Harris mixes office politics with suspense in its story of Nella Rogers, an editorial assistant who’s the only Black staffer at a noted publishing company. When Hazel, a new Black employee, is hired, things seem to be improving. But then Nella starts receiving ominous unsigned notes. Sounds like yet another reason to keep working from home.
Hot slow dance summer
After nearly four months on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, “Leave the Door Open” remains the song most likely to provoke a quiet storm on the dance floor. The hit single from Silk Sonic (aka Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak) may sound like a cover of a long-lost ‘70s classic R&B tune, but it’s a contemporary song that can make you forget the humidity long enough for “kissing, cuddling, rose petals in the bathtub, girl, lets jump in.”

Ugh I did the thing again where I was busy all week and forgot to post on here. So here’s a lightning fast recap of my workouts from the past week, if you care at all. I actually think I worked out (ish, except Friday kinda) every day which is a first in a while. Bless.
Tues Mar 21 Abs and shopping. I went home after work to get my car so that I could drive to trainings the next two days, but went out to Target as soon as I got home, cause duh. Stupid idea to try on like real clothes tho, my self-conscious ass was like ohhhhh no way you need to tighten up those saddle bags and that back fat before you get any of this. So. I got a crop sweatshirt and athletic leggings, felt bad about myself but hadn’t had dinner, so I went to Wawa. Woof.
3x each 15 reps straight leg raises 15 reps roll ups leaning camel x 45s bird dogs x 45s 60 reps heal touches plank 35s, 40s, 45s 10 reps assisted push up 40 reps russian twists 8# alternating superman 1 min 15 reps single leg pulses
Wed Mar 22 Run on the trail after this horrific training class in which I was literally the only student for an all day session. And I had to go back the next day 😩 went to Marshall’s before my run to see if I could find any cold weather gear bc I only had my sweatshirt, gloves, wool earwarmers, and thin leggings. Didn’t find any of that, but got those AMAZING NEON PINK LEGGINGS IN THAT ONE PICTURE and some other ones too. You know me, can’t stay away from that athleisure ish.
It was hella freezing and took me so long to warm up once I started on the trail. Fortunately it was so picturesque and my music was bangin so. I survived.

Thurs Mar 23 6 x 200m sprints on the trail. Bless up, convinced my instructor to finish early bc tbh he was not really all that helpful once I started following the book that was included, so I went to the mall and got some more athleisure (deh), cheap sunglasses, athletic ear warmers for $.50 each, a VERY cute lightweight rain jacket, and (!!!!!) these black leather slip-on sneakers I’ve been looking for for like 6 months. I just caved and got the name brand ones but stILl omg I’m so excited about them I finally found them.
Started the sprints in the cotton leggins I was wearing, then after like maybe 9 or 10 strides I was like oh FUCk no they suddenly lost all their elasticity and I was having to pull them up for my life. So after completely embarrassing myself hoisting those mothereffers up for my first sprint, I jumped in the car and changed into spandex pants, then zoomed back to the trail start and actually did my workout. Good thing my house is only 8 minutes away from that part of the trail.
I think I may have mis-read what my Nike app was telling me to do, but I’m pretty sure it said to do 6 x 200m sprints with 4:45 min in between. So that’s essentially what I did, I sprinted for the 200m and ran / jogged in between. Although the app only recorded the distance for the sprints, I wanna say I did a little more than the day before, since I went further on the trail. I hate that you can’t go back and check what it told you to do; you only see how you actually ran according to the app. Lame af. Though I was proud, I increased my sprint speed at almost every length except the 3rd.
0.77mi 6'59" min / mi (lol can’t believe I actually ran a mile faster than that at one point in my life holy shit)
Fri Mar 24 No real workout here, since I had to leave work early to take the train back to le Nova for Palooza. I scarfed down a Snap pizza (the classic spot) right before the show, and somehow stayed away from the dangers of late night college food. Though I did get all my steps in my showing one of our friends’ home friend around campus, and apparently that little tour counted for a nice brisk walk. Obvi the Snovas killed it, as a great opener for what my friends and I dubbed AcaWeekend. Saturday they’d be competing at ICCA regional semifinals #pitchperfect for the first time ever, which was so exciting. Palooza the day before was just their warmup, but fortunately we got to see two new songs from them. It kinda sucked for them though bc they went first out of the seven groups and the sound guys always need a few groups to warm up before they actually refine the balance, and they just sounded muddled. Womp. Oh well. Everyone knows they’re/we’re the best anyway. Proud alum.
Sat Mar 25 Run in the morning before the day’s festivities. This was a quick workout before most of the humans who stayed in my apartment became humans, a brief mile ish to the waterfront and back. I realized I’d been wearing a blueish shirt and black leggings in literally all of my pics lately so I spiced it up with these fun stripey ones. Lol.
We adventured to brunch, where I had a yummy spinach and goat cheese salad with fig dressing, and wandered around the city for the afternoon before we had to head to semis. I splurged on Hunger Burger at RTM because I told myself that this was my indulgence for the weekend, and I wasn’t going to be drinking anymore for the next few months (it’s not like I do it that often anyway, I just want to try it to see how it helps my training/weight loss, if at all), so I got a specialty thin mint shake. Woops. Honestly, it was so worth it though, and I didn’t even end up eating most of the fries anyway, so it wasn’t the worst I could’ve done.
At semis, there were literally so many good groups and we were all like oh shit how are they going to stack up?? But Snovas SLAYED even better than they did last time and ENDED UP IN THIRD PLACE WHICH IS THE CRAZIEST BEST HONOR WE’VE EVER GOTTEN AND IT’S JUST SO COOL!!!!! A cappella is the shit, guys, I swear. I’m so proud of those kiddos, and they get to submit a wildcard video for a chance at Finals in NYC which is like legitimately insane. They’re somewhere in the top 18-27 groups in the country right now, and coming from a school where we legit don’t have music majors and a joke of a music activities staff / support, this coulD NOT be cooler. They murdered it. And so did all the other groups at semis, like damn. We weren’t even sure anything was gonna happen for them, but they clearly did some things right. Ugh so obvi we celebrated when we got back to Philly, going to a few bars and ending up at Frankford, where we got some amazing soft pretzels and other snacks. Best day ever.

Sun Mar 26 Long ish run and relaxing. Got up and was worried about the weather forecast for Monday because I was supposed to be doing my long run for next week then, and it was going to be torrentially downpouring all day, so I was hoping to switch my days because the weather was decent enough that I could’ve done it on Sunday. But then I updated my app and A, it changed my schedule for this week anyway, and B, I remember I could’ve moved it anyway if I wanted to. So instead I went and did that 5K Sunday challenge thing that it introduced. And I ran back from there, so it actually was closer to the 5 miles I had wanted to do anyway. So ya.
I felt a little subconscious in these leggings because, though they are a spectacularly bright and amazing color, they also show my cellulite on the back of my legs… but I thought, fuck it, people will see me, and if they give me a look, I’ll just push harder and show them that cellulite means nothing if you’re fast and capable and strong. So. I used it to empower me, I guess.
Spent the rest of the day relaxing and watching ICCA videos, still hyped up on the Snovas victory. Legit it’s still coming to me in waves, it’s actually incredible.

Mon Mar 27 Full body circuit and a benchmark run. Work is starting to bore me so much lol on Monday I think I may have done approximately 2 work related things all day, otherwise I was just distracted. I decided to do a NTC workout and then my benchmark, so I chose Body Flexor 2.0, which worked a lot of different areas and was pretty fun. Then I ran on the treadmill for my benchmark for the first time, which was weird knowing my exact speed at certain times and being able to force myself to a certain pace. If I have to do it that way again, next time I’ll just cover the numbers and just focus on how it feels to push hard. The picture up there is me literally dying because of how sweaty I was. Plus fun leggings from Marshall’s.

Tues Mar 28 Abs / some arms, plus 20 minutes on the elliptical. I was an idiot today, and not only forgot a hair tie after my shower, but I left my phone at home, which I realized too late in the elevator on the way to work. Nice. So I had to go without both all day, though Kelly let me borrow a hair tie so I could work out thank GoD cause I was looking at using a legit rubber band, which would’ve been awful. The moves I chose for abs today ended up also working my arms a lot, which was nice to combo them. Because I didn’t have my phone, I just kind of had to make up my elliptical workout, which was meh but whatever. Next time I’ll be prepared. That’s definitely not my favorite type of cardio anyway.
Tonight I made these AMAZING baked zucchini fries, I probably could’ve eaten like 90 million in one sitting they were so crunchy and good. My sweet potato fries didn’t turn out so good (I actually burned the shit out of them, but I’m going to attempt to eat them tomorrow for lunch anyway 🙃) but I’m happy I’m trying new things in the kitchen, even if it’s taking me like 3 hours each time lolol.
I’m down a few pounds from last week, though, which is kind of nice! A little affirmation after working hard every day.
3x each 15 reps dumbbell side bends alt. sides 8# 15 reps twisting core stabilizers alt. sides 8# 15 reps bow extensions alt. sides 8# 15 reps woodchops 8# 10 reps windmills 5# 40 reps russian twists 8# 30 s plank 7 reps full extension inch worms 15 reps in-&-outs
Wooooof I’m going to try to post more often now that I’m all caught up. Lol it may last for a day but you know. #Goals.

What it’s like to have a midweek orgy
Not your usual Wednesday night (Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)
It’s a Wednesday night and I’m sprawled on a hotel bed in central London. I’ve got a guy going down me, while two very talented women have a nipple of mine in each of their mouths. Next to us, a couple are moaning loudly. Another guy kisses me and I may pass out from pleasure.
Not your usual midweek Netflix and chill.
How did I get here, having an orgy in the middle of the week with a group of very attractive people? It all started with an offhand message in a group chat.
Being part of the kink scene, I’m a member of a few group chats centred around that community. All that needed to happen was someone to make a joke about how they could really go for a foursome… and a bunch of others (including myself) to chime in that they could too.
Next thing I knew, I had a message from a friend asking if I was serious about the foursome. He runs an intimate sex party called Little Black Books, so I knew that if he was organising something, it was going to be fun. He said he had some people lined up and asked if I was okay with those names. I said yes immediately.
This was Tuesday. We all got into our own group chat and started checking dates we were free. We realised everyone was available the next night, so chipped in for a hotel apartment and arranged to meet.
Logistically the details were: three guys, four gals. Turn up from 7pm, bring some drinks and snacks, plus some toys if you’re so inclined.
As everyone arrived we had some drinks and chatted. A few people had come straight from work, so had a quick shower to freshen up. We laid out the toys, of which there were many; everything from paddles and floggers to butt plugs and strap-ons and vibrators.
Around 8.30pm it very suddenly became time for play, when one of the guys literally picked me up and took me to the bedroom. This is how I found myself at the centre of attention of four people and very quickly having an orgasm.
It was incredibly sexy and everything flowed well, especially because everyone was so into each other. It was fun, easy and very, very hot.
One moment of insane chemistry during sex with someone I had wanted to sleep with for a long time gave me the most intense orgasm I had experience in a long while. Later, I was pinned down while a Doxy wand vibrator was used on me until I cried and couldn’t take anymore.
One of the more extraordinary moments of the night was seeing some of the most epic squirting I’ve ever witnessed, thanks to a vibrator that was brought along. It was like a waterfall. Unfortunately we hadn’t put a towel down beforehand so the sheets got very wet.
There was double fisting, on both a guy and a girl, thanks to the talents of one gorgeous woman with incredible hands.
Three of us women tested out many of the floggers and paddles on one of the guys, and I got to introduce one gal to my favourite toy, the Satisfyer; a clitoral toy that uses suction to give very intense orgasms.

There were various combinations of people throughout the night, all mainly centred in the bedroom, despite there also being a pull out double bed in the living room – I guess no one wanted to miss out on anything by being in another room.
While the majority of the night was full-on debauchery, there was some silliness too. We took selfies on the bed of the seven of us, all naked. We stopped for drink breaks, chatted, got snacks from the kitchen and debated over which crisp flavours were better.
By the time I left the apartment it was 2.30am. I had a meeting at 9am the next day, which I struggled through with the help of a lot of caffeine.
Basically everyone was wrecked at work on Thursday, so I can’t say it would be a regular occurrence, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
How often do you get a chance to f*** a bunch of truly gorgeous people in the middle of the week? And hey, you never look back fondly on the nights when you went to bed early and got a full eight hours sleep.
Following that night, we’ve all kept in touch via the group chat, having a little in-joke of saying ‘on a Wednesday’ at each other, and planning when we’re all free for the next mid-week romp.

Day 17 - 03/03/2018
Day 17
After the last few nights of really struggling to sleep, I slept like a baby last night. It was the first morning in a long time where we didn’t have a set time to be up for. I still was up and about at 09:30 but it was much more relaxed. My body still kills this morning. It is probably more painful today than yesterday. As in my muscles are really tight so today will be a challenge to lengthen them out and hopefully be ok to run tomorrow.
After chilling round the apartment for a couple of hours doing our jobs etc. We headed to the local runner’s café. This café is awesome it has loads and loads of plaques about the running team, trophies, signed memorabilia and lots more. It is awesome. The coach of the team has his own little corner in the café too. This is the café that all the runners visit after their long runs on a Sunday. Moving on to the food now. Jeeze. Most people know that the way to my heart is through a cinnamon bun. The cinnamon bun was huge it was a sharing one, but it literally did three of us. The best big about America so far is they warm up the cinnamon buns for you. It is literally heaven. After eating the cinnamon bun my pancakes came. Oh jeeze. I was in trouble they were huge, and I was literally stuffed after the ‘warm up’ of the cinnamon bun. I choose to go for the blueberry pancakes. I only managed to eat around a quarter of what they gave me. Luckily, I was able to take it away. I totally understand why Americans are large, it would be impressive to just eat the pancakes let alone with some of the cinnamon bun too. Crazy.
As we were all full to the brim we headed for a road trip to pagosa springs. Pagosa springs is the worlds deepest natural springs. I have been to a couple of natural springs during my time in Italy on a college trip but not for a few years. Rob has never been to one. I knew he would have a shock when we get there (the smell). Again, I had to do the driving, all 2 and a bit hours each way of it. After an hour of dead straight roads, we got to the mountainous passes. They were really good fun in the little car we had. After reaching the top of the pass at 11000ft the pass drops of by 8% gradient for 8miles. As you can imagine going down them was fun, but I always had the thought that I had to learn them well because im going to have to go up them in the dead of night. Around ¾ of the way down after going around, some very tight bends and big drops off the side we stopped for a waterfall.
The waterfall was a bit of a trek from the car. Outside was a lovely day but there was still loads of snow around. To get to the waterfall you had to trek up a rather steep icey wooded trail. Both rob, and I were in shoes that really weren’t designed for the occasion. I had completely flat soled boots that have no grip at all on and rob had worn down running trainers. Silly thing is back at the apartment we both have walking boots, but we weren’t expecting to stop at a waterfall. It was a really funny trek up there with Tom, Rob and I. I was slipping all over the place on the way up there. After around 20minutes of trying so hard not to fall over we reached the bridge where we can see the waterfall. The waterfall was frozen which was so cool, was an amazing. I tried to get closer and wade through the snow. Little did I know it had been building up there for some time, as soon as I put my foot in it, it went all the way past my knee. It was freezing. Really funning because it was a mission to get back out of it but worth it for the view. The trek down from the waterfall was even better. We went the opposite way to going up because they both end at the car. The way down was so much steeper and more difficult to stay on your feet. Yep I was the first to fall on my bum, multiple times actually. They we pretty funny, the boys got a kick out of it too. Next to fall was rob. A couple of times too but not as bad as I did. It was quite a funny detour on the way to where were going.
Next up Pagosa springs. Pagosa springs is a little place in the middle of nowhere, very Mexican and quaint. Pagosa springs is home to over 18 natural springs that are heated geothermally. They range from 89 degrees Fahrenheit all the way to 113 degrees Fahrenheit. After acclimatising to the strong smell of egg from the sulpha in the pools we got straight into a toasty 105 Fahrenheit natural bath. This one was virtually in the river so there were really hot bubbles, then the swash of the river which cooled it down. It was so relaxing, and we really needed it after the few days of hard graft. We probably spent around 5 hours bouncing from pool to pool. It was super relaxing. Rob and I both had our first wine in a can. It was super nice. Very strange to get wine in a can I thought. Sorry went Yoda for a second. I forgot to mention that we are still at altitude and its like 4 degrees Celsius outside and were sitting in a geothermal bath topless sipping on a can of wine. B.E.A.U.TIFUL! The wine went straight to our heads, but it was so worth it. We stayed there till it was only 1degree outside and the sun had set. It became a bit to romantic for three lads to be sitting in a bath whilst its almost candlelit light around us.
We then headed to the Riff raff brewery. Kind of apt because the three of us are riff raff. Riff raff was extremely busy, so we tried to find somewhere else. After walking the streets for like 20minutes trying to find somewhere to eat. It was about 19:00 at this point so we were all very hungry. After going into a really posh restaurant and working out we definitely couldn’t afford it. We headed to riff raff again and waited 45minutes. Whilst rob tried the local beers, tom and I were watching a crazy college basketball game on TV. It was all nice and relaxed until we got found out by a rather tipsy 70-year-old German woman. For the next 20 minutes she was talking to us and making us talk to her English ‘boyfriend’. It was super weird, she literally would leave us alone until we ordered our food and spoke to her Rodney (boyfriend).
After ordering our meals we had to wait ages for our food. I had a goat meat burger, rob had a normal burger and tom had a Yak burger. All were very nice apart from the fact we all got crisps instead of chips. They didn’t do chips in this place they would give you crisps as an alternative. It’s so weird, nice hot burger with a plate of plain kettle chips as a main meal. We then had to wait an eternity for the bill. At this point it was 21:00 and we are over 2hours away from home. Don’t forget it is mountain passes all the way home and its pitch black.
We all went to the local fuel garage for some extra substance because the meal just wasn’t big enough. The guy who works there was definitely high as a kite. I wanted a coffee to stay awake and a bit more alert for the drive home. But he was as helpful as a snail on speed. The drive home was really cool. The day before was a full moon so the moon was extremely bright in the sky. Also, because we are at almost 2500m in elevation the area certainly gets lit up more by the moon. You can imagine the glare of the moon on snow covered mountains. It was absolutely beautiful. One of the best sights. I really can’t get bored of the sights of the mountains here. I really love scenic views. In that respect I could definitely live in Colorado. There are many positives but quite a few negatives at the same time.
The drive home through the mountains was quite tiring and stressful because I have two people in the car that are relying on me. Also, they are roads that I have only ever driven once. It was very unnerving. After enjoying the drive home, I can officially say ive driven a mountain pass in the dead of night and not killed my passengers. It’s the little things in life. Don’t ever forget that.
Sorry for it being so late. Last night killed me so I finished it off today. Catch up with you soon. Night!

Travel journal 2017
I wrote this once on my phone just before we lost our passports and the panic attacked and I forgot to save it so here am I writing this again. I am in the airport, about to fly back to Singapore. We have ended our first long trip together. We have never stopped moving for the past 3 weeks. We walked everyday for at least 6-7 km, taking any walk that google map suggests as below 30mins. In the last unexpected days in Paris, it went up to a lot of 1hour walks because we were just fed up with the crowded and fifthy metros, as well as the nerve cracking mentility we had every time we get on it, worrying that some pickpocketing might happen again- although we had had almost nothing left to be stolen. The walking is partially because we don't drive but also because we see so much more when we walk. Plus, I just enjoyed walking with Anh, we never ran out of things to talk about. One day we walked up to 20km, hiking up to a waterfall in a small town on the other side of the lake from Annecy. Next day, we cycled another 20km around that lake. The craziest hike was from Odda to Trolltunga, up to 1100m attitude, 11km up, 12km down on the next day. 1km extra because I hurt my knee and couldn't take the stiff slope down. We came ill prepared. Not enough warm clothes and water proof materials for our backpacks. It was raining on and off all day on the day we went up. Everything was wet as soon as we reached the iconic 'touge'. Anh fell down several times, some were funny to watch, some just made my heart literally skip a beat. I saw snow for the first time but it's just too cold for me to be excited about it. Cold, slippery, exhausted. We camped overnight on the top. It's scary... but the view was just so breaktaking that we almost forgot how scary it was to hike under the rain in clothes that are suitable for just a lovely sunny day. The most surreal moment was when the fog gradually went away and the sun shone on the rocky side of the mountain. It's lit up, shimmering.. I told Anh it made me almost believe in God. Next day we went down it was the most beautiful sunny day I've ever had. Never before have I so yearn for the sun. I took a fall on the way down, hurt my butt and bruise my arm badly. I think the bruise is just making me look tougher, or making people look at Anh subspiously, thinking there is some kind of domestic abuse going on between us. We talked to Howard- an ex military man and Maika- a professional trainer for outdoor activities and outdoor living - they are two guides leading us up and down the mountain. They are just super human to us. When asked what the highest mountain she has ever climbed, Maika said it's not the highest one that is the toughest, it's the longest one. Hers was a 15day hike continuously, carrying her own clothes and food supplies for the whole journey (for this tour, they carried food, tents and sleeping bags up for us, we only carried our clothes and essentials yet at the 4th or 5th kilometer, and already it felt like rock on my back). People in Norway also speak fluently several languages. Even the girl serves at our hostel restaurant speak fluently 5 languages and is learning another 2. When she spoke to Lucille- a French friend we made staying in the same hostel room in Odda, Lucille said she has perfect french. How amazing is that? We came to realise how physically weak we are compared to people from else where in the world and there are so much more, so many things for us to learn in this life. It motivates me to learn Chinese now as I'm back.. I'm just not sure how long the motivation would last until I need another trip for motivation :P Being on top of Trollunga is one of the proudest things I've ever done and I'm sure Anh feels the same. Definitely best moment of this year and most of all I've got to share it with Anh. ----- I had a mix feeling toward Paris. I'm not going to defense Paris from Anh anymore about how filthy, messy and choastic it is and how rude people are in Paris. Sorry French friends, there always are nice people and rude people anywhere I know that for a fact, but we tried our best talking to people as much as we want to get to know the place and its people. We just didn't get much friendly response, not to mention the increasing crimes in the city. The police just gets used to thef and pickpocketing reports. One policewoman even talked to us as if putting my wallet inside my backpack and had it stolen is entirely and obviously my fault. However, Paris is still charming to me in a way, put aside all those bad experiences. We didn't have anyone else apart from each other to talk to when we were there- maybe that's one of the reason why Paris is less exciting. But we found our way to entertain ourselves. I went to a jazz club and danced it off with Anh for the first time. Believe it or not, 6 years together and I've never been to a club with Anh before. Yet suddenly with jazz, the modern, trendy dance moves became irrelevant. They played in the basement built with bricks walls, low ceiling and not every spacious. The lead saxophone stopped at the end of each song to introduce the name of the next sone with a short description. I like the way he did that- reminds me of the scene in La la land where Seb told Mia that people don't understand jazz because they never really listen to it. Jazz always just music in the background in restaurants or some gatherings. So the way the lead saxophone introduced each song made me feel like each song is beautiful and they mean it everytime they play it, that people actually care, that they were there for the music itself- not something jazzy in the background. We danced to two or three songs, crazy moves. We were the worst dancers.. but who cares haha. The rest of the time we watched people dance. Night fell and we walked a little bit to North Dame, sat in front for a while then went home. It was Anh's birthday that night. It was a successful birthday: we had good Pho, listened to live jazz and walked the city of Paris with endless talking. I was deeply thankful to whoever has the power to arrange for people to meet each other because I met Anh and we stay together, and tomorrow wouldn't be boring even though I had no idea what we were going to do the next day. I knew with Anh we would have fun.. Paris is all about art- that's what people say. Of course we had our own art experience too. We went by the Lourve and saw people ridiculously queued up for, I guess, a kilometer long under the sun just to come in and see the tiny Mona Lisa. I wonder how many of them actually understand those artworks in there. We came back here later after we lost our passports and stuck in Paris. The queue was better and Anh asked if I wanted to come inside for once, since we were already there. But I looked it up online and their paintings are from the renaissaince period- which I'm not very much interested in.. so we didn't come in. Instead, Musee de Orsay just made my dream come true. Monet. Van Gogh. Manet. Renoid. Camille. Gauguin. Bonnard. Even Picasso before he drew abstract and cubism. All of them in one place. I remember finding their paintings when I was a kid looking through dad's magazine cutouts; when I was in school daydreaming on tumblr during school lessons; when I was in my darkest days. And they were just real in front of my eyes. I could see the strokes that they made, how big the paintings are (poor Van Gogh he got the smallest paintings which made my heart sank), how different it is to look closely and look from distance. I could smell the oil paint in the rooms which I think just another trick the museum does to stimulate experience; yet it really got me. I discovered new artists I never heard of before but I love their paintings in there. Anh hadn't really been into art.. but he accompanied me to these place anyway. I love it when he said he loved Monet's the Water lily bond and the House of Parliment London; love that he cared about what I like. Nexy day we went to the Centre Pompiduo. This was where it channelled Anh's inner 9gag boy. We debated for a good hour on whether modern art is really art or just people's way of bullshiting their socalled arts. It was a good talk yet I still couldn't turn him around- at least we shared. We were just hanging around in the campus and watching this performance artist sweeping yellow paddy rice. His exagerating movements made it feel like he was dancing. The way I saw it is that he was making those stroke on the black floor using his random movements and create quiet interesting texture on the floor. After awhile there was another girl came in to continue doing that for him. Anh just hated it, he said they are pretendious and exagerating shit to make it look artistic but it has no meaning. We had another good talk over that until we were hungry and left. That's the only reason he could convince me out of some place I got hooked to. I regreted not coming into the exhibitions. Maybe some good, thought-provoking, meaningful masterpieces in there could convince Anh for me without saying a word. ----- Castellane is soooo lovely. Perfect weather. Sunny but not so burning. We were staying at a BnB not far from the town centre with Leo and Petra. They are the loveliest couple I've ever met hands down. We had long chats with them every morning during our breakfast about so many things- like me and Petra trying to convince Anh to believe in real modern art. One morning Petra rushed to our room calling our names, asking if we want to see a troop of thousand sheeps, donkeys and mountain goats on their journey up to the mountain. We ran to the road, stood by, waiting for them. There were literally thousand of them! 1060 to be exact. They each had a bell on their necks and the whole troop make an oschetra when they walk. It's just amazing.. I've never seen so many sheeps before, nor the way farmers do their work. Petra let us know that they travel up to the higher alpes in the summer for greener grass when it gets too hot and grass on flat land turns brown. We tried to talk to some of the farmers and felt so heartwarming that although their english is really limited, as much as our french, they tried to tell us about their journey. (See Parisians.. they are just farmers and they speak english to us). Up until we met there, they have walked 12km in 10 days. We walked with them for a while then left for out water trekking trip. The water trekking trip almost scared the shit out of us. Gorge de Verdon is so beautiful, so so beautiful, even better seeing from below, just above the water. The water was so fast and strong, it's scary at the same time. We were floating, letting our bodies go with the water flow. There are times I thought my head would hit a big rock. The route also includes some jumping off a high rock onto the water. And I think I would never forget the feeling I had in the moment after I just throw myself in the air and before my body touches water. It's indescriptable. Next morning we felt like seeing the animals again so we went for a hike up, tracing after their poops- yes they poop a lot along the way. But then we lost track, couldn't find them and end up at the lake. I made Anh do some kayaking. While stopping for our lunch, still on the boat, a spider appeared and Anh freaked out- no suprise for me. After we managed to turn away from the burst, the spider out of sight, he said he really wanted to jump down into the water. Apparently he couldn't. He was halfway finishing his bread with pate filling, couldn't risk wasting the food. Yep, that's my boyfriend. Not until were we in Castellane that we had a full course real french dinner. The first dinner was delicious! Just like the restaurant's name: Ô Delicion.. we were the first to be there. The French usually have late dinner, around 8 I guess. We usually get hungry around 6 and always need to wait until 7 when the shops are open. I had terrine for appetiter, Anh had artichoke soup. The soup was really nice and I kept thinking about how beautifully shaped the artichoke is before it's cooked- just a random thought. My main course was devine, tenderly cooked port chop with a kind of mushroom that I had never had before. It went with 2 sides: fish egg and some kind of baked egg with vegetable. Anh was jealous of my main dish because he only had average fish with the same sides for himself. The French are really great at cooking. Even the Vietnamese food is better in French than in anywhere else we've been to. I told Anh to stop comparing them to the British because it's such an insult- do the British really cook anything good? ---- Almost 2 weeks since I'm back. Finally got my sound sleep back last night. I've always been exhausted. So many things to catch up and so many plans to be done. Tonight Ellen didn't take the train home with me, chi G didn't join me for dinner. I have the evening for myself. I feel sad about not having Anh beside me. I remember feeling we were so strong and we could be anything when we were together. Now we are apart- he couldn't fix my computer and I couldn't attend his graduation. Maybe I just miss anh. I think of the good time we had when we were on the trip. Reading the news about Dear Vincent movie remind me of Annecy- a lovely town down south France. I regret we had time but didn't try to ask around if the movie was being screened there because I knew its premier screen had just ended a week before we arrived. Now I need to wait until they screen it in Singapore which would take forever... not many people interested in such movie I suppose. When we were in Annecy it were the sunniest days of the trip. We fell right in love with the airbnb we stayed in as soon as we arrived. Cecile- our host showed us around with phone in her hand, a translate apps open ready. The house is isolated from the touristy madness outside in the market. There is a lovely garden leading to an openning where you can go down to the river running across the town. We spent afternoons sitting there, seeing people above the bridge, waiting for the ducks and swans to swim by and feed them. Anh totally loved that activity, best with an ice cream in hand (ice cream is for him not the ducks).
